I’m gonna level with ya here… ((AGSZC, don’t like don’t read))

Golden retriever boyfriend Zack Fair with his gaggle of goth witch partners is what soothes my souls the most.

Angeal is your classic 1950s goth. He’s wearing Gomez level sharp suits and enjoying the simple pleasures in life. Things like baking your enemies into a pie and serving it at family dinners -you know silly stuff. But also Angeal was the one who was legit listening to proper 80s goth music and aged into his gothhood like a fine ass wine.

Genesis is the vampire goth witch partner. They are reading gothic romantic poetry and simping over Mary Shelley and Byron. They are affectionately biting people but also will bite you when annoyed

Sephiroth is the big titty goth. Look me in the eye and say it ain’t so. You can’t. He’s never known how to use the buttons on his shirt, his hair is absolutely the most important thing to him and both he and Genesis both know how good they look in a corset.

And then there’s Cloud. Cloud is the goth witch partner that everyone’s slightly protective of. They got bullied, they have mental health issues, but they have also cursed everyone who once used to torment them. Cloud gifts you gemstones and sea glass and it’s their life goal to own a crow named Edger Allan Crow.

Clouds and Gen are the ones you will find casting at the kitchen table. But Cloud and Geal are the ones that Zack has walked in on attempting necromancy on the neighbours dog.

They all joke that Zack isn’t their boyfriend he’s their shared familiar. People don’t know if they are serious or not when they catch Sephiroth dig his deceptively sharp and manicured nails into Zacks scalp and his leg starts kicking.

Best Babylon 5 Character Contest

Title is pretty self-explanatory. Who is the best (or at least your favourite) Babylon 5 character?

I didn't want to leave anyone out because all the characters add something vital to the story, so there will be 32 options, half of which I'll post today and the other half tomorrow. The winners will go on to the next round, and so on till we get down to the final two characters and can crown the ultimate victor.

‘FAST PAINT’ is the latest EP from @vincent.christ_& it finds the prolific London-based producer/multi-instrumentalist embracing his inner nü_romatic across 3 tracks that revel in their percussively throbbed, sonically surged & sensually saxxed up ways as heard on the new_waving rush of “Rain In Europe.”

‘THE GREAT CALM’ (@piasbelgium) is the latest/greatest LP from @whisperingsons & it finds the Brussels-based quintet of Sander Pelsmaekers (synth), Tuur Vandeborne (drums), Bert Vliegen (bass), Kobe Lijnen (guitar) & Fenne Kuppens (vocals) optimistically charting a new path across 12 tracks that maximize their brand of ambiguously stoic PostPunk as evidenced on the cinematically synth_waving “Cold City.”

the narrator : the Planet itself (tells the story, also tries to warn people about the consequences of their actions but cannot be heard by the rest of the cast) the gambler and the monk : JENOVA and a cetra (maybe ifalna, maybe just a random one. its not like theyre mentioned by name anyway) jasper : grimoire valentine (this is mainly bc annabel had to be lucrecia) annabel : lucrecia (she canonically sort of brought vincent back from the dead. sort of. she probably wouldve brought grimoire back if she could have. its also lowkey implied that she may have had a crush on grimoire?)

CONTENT WARNINGS: offstage but explicitly mentioned suicide, also very brief but explicitly mentioned parental abuse, immolation mentions (sort of), execution by a militaristic police state (near the end)

The Dolls of New Albion: a Steampunk Opera is a folk opera by Paul Shapera

the opera is split up into four acts, each following a generation of a single family. each act has a narrator telling you about the world as time passes. while not all of it is directly relevant to the story at hand, it tells you something interesting about the world. however, there is a recurring motif of a gambler and a monk who played a never-ending card game. this is important later. the city of new albion was built around them by the people who came to watch them play. but more importantly, in the Now, annabel(/annabelle/annabella. the script cant decide how its spelled) mcalistair is raising up the dead

okay so basically. annabel had a big ol crush on a guy in school. they had never talked until one day they talked and kissed and they became friends for a little bit. but then annabel was expelled for stealing cadavers for her own research. and she became a shut-in and he got married then died young. and she's figured out how to call his soul down into a doll she has built!

the doll is very lifelike but cant really move and cannot talk but he can play the radio! isnt he great? look at annabels doll everyone! she can go anywhere now bc hes proof that shes brilliant! shes conquered life and death! but not everything you love loves you in return. and when she realizes that he cannot, will not ever love her back or speak to her, he doesnt want to be back, she destroys the doll. and throws all of her notes in an old trunk in the attic.

and so passes the first generation.

the narrator informs us that annabel gets married and has a son named edgar at some point. edgar grows up and falls in love, as people often do, with a woman named fay, and on the night he was planning to propose to her, she tells him that while she loves him and she really tried to make the relationship work, hes got Issues and so she leaves him for another man.

in his anger, when edgar goes through the old trunk in the attic and finds annabels notes on necromancy, he makes a business out of it! he summons back the souls of the dead for anyone who asks and pays, and when his business becomes successful enough he uses the money and influence he has to run the business of fays new partner into the ground.

he goes and finds fay and is like. "look. i have a very successful business. the man that you say you love is ruined and poor and I know you cant live like that. and whats more than that, you know your dead dad who you loved so dearly? yeah i brought him back for you, but the only way you can talk to him is if you come back and get married to me. :)" and fay does but shes also like "what the fuck. i actually loved you once why did you end up like this this is why i left you in the first place" also the person whose soul edgar brought back is jasper, the same man annabel brought back originally.

and so passes the second generation.

edgar and fay have a son named byron. now, byron becomes a voodoopunk. voodoopunk is one part religious movement, one part political party, one part punk subculture. yes i know voodoo is a closed practice i dont know that the person who wrote this does and yeah.

so basically his whole plan is to run jasper for mayor? and theres this girl named amelia whos also running with the voodoopunks. it is unclear how old she is, but she is referred to as "a girl" rather than "a woman", so it is likely she's either a teenager or a young adult.

but jasper has figured something out. jasper has figured out how to string together songs on the radio to finally speak for himself. and byron is like "here listen to our doll give you a speech and prove that the dead can run this country better than any of the vultures that are politicians in any part of the political spectrum!"

and jasper sings.

and he sings about how he did not want to be brought back. death was peaceful and he did not want to be here.

and amelia heard this. and she had no friends. and she lived only with her father who was abusive (presumably both verbally and physically? it is never elaborated upon but we do know its at least verbal.)

and she kills herself with only the words of the song jasper sang as her note.

at which point theres public outcry bc ALL the dolls have been singing this song. in the publics eyes, the dolls killed amelia. and so people start rounding up the dolls -- who there are more of than living people in new albion by now -- and burning them alive (for a given definition of alive? its really more of releasing their souls again but really violently) byron manages to "save" jasper though.

and so ends the third generation.

we revisit the card game. the gambler died of a heart attack during the final hand, and cursed with his dying breath that the game was not yet finished, promising the two would come back to finish it one day.

and so begins the fourth generation.

New Albion has become a military police state, killing anyone with any sort of memorabilia of the dead. we see priscilla, byrons daughter, hiding in a basement and playing a never-ending game of cards with jasper. (YEP THATS RIGHT ITS KINDA IMPLIED THAT JASPER AND PRISCILLA ARE THE REINCARNATIONS OF THE MONK AND THE GAMBLER, and even if theyre not, theyre still the ones continuing the game they started).

we also see soldier 7285 join the police.

priscilla loves her great grandfather jasper dearly -- and he loves her back. she reminds him of fay, when fay was younger and more innocent, and jasper lets slip during their card game that he still wants to die but he is willing to stay because he wants priscilla to live even more. because if theyre found, they both die.

priscilla is like what the fuck thats not? fair??? why should you have to sacrifice your death for my life??? and she thinks about it. and decides that a life of hiding isnt much of a life at all.

and she calls the cops on herself.

a firing squad happens, despite jasper doing all he can to prevent it because her life for his death isnt fair to her, either.

but soldier 7285 doesnt fire.

he is court martialled and stripped of his duties/rank for it. soldier 7285 thinks about how priscilla loved jasper so much she was willing to die if it meant his freedom, and goes. hey what the fuck sort of country do i serve that thinks caring about the people we loved past their deaths is punishable by death??? im going to tear this country down and rebuild it on the graves of the people who decided this, and if i die in the process, at least i can be a martyr and inspire people to finish what i started the way she inspired me.

and thats the dolls of new albion!

The Twins At A Glance- The Twins got somewhat on track after a rough patch of games. They took two out of three from the Blue Jays and now head out on a big seven-game road trip. Byron Buxton is going on a rehab assignment with the Saints this week. The Saints are home for the week and he looks to be activated for the Royals series this weekend. Manny Margot was put on the injured list with a right groin strain. The Twins called up Diego Castillo and Mike Helman from the Saints and activated Brooks Lee. Caleb Boushley was designated for assignment to make room for Helman on the 40-man roster. Royce Lewis busted out of a slump with a game-winning homer on Sunday. The Twins need him to carry some of the offense. Scott Blewett has allowed just one run in seven innings out of the bullpen. Cole Sands has a 1.52 ERA since the All-Star Break.

The Rays At A Glance- The Rays have been a disappointment and decided to trade guys away fairly early. Tampa Bay sits two games under .500 and have lost five of their last seven. The Rays traded away Aaron Civale, Shawn Armstrong, Amed Rosario, Zach Eflin, Jason Adam, Randy Arozarena and Isaac Paredes. Yandy Diaz is having a solid year with twelve homers and fifty-nine RBI. Jose Siri has hit a team-high seventeen homers. The offense has struggled a bit as they are averaging 3.8 runs per game since the All-Star Break. The Rays starting staff has a 4.10 ERA, which is fifteenth in baseball. Ryan Pepiot has found a spot in the rotation with a 3.76 ERA. Zack Littell continues to be a strong starter with a 3.89 ERA. Pete Fairbanks is the closer with twenty-three saves. Edwin Uceta has given up just three runs over 33 2/3 innings out of the bullpen.

What To Watch For- The Rays took two of three from the Twins at Target Field in mid-June. The Rays swept the Twins at Tropicana Field last June. Simeon Woods Richardson threw six innings and gave up two runs in his lone start against the Rays on June 20th. Zack Littell has a 3.21 ERA in four games against the Twins. David Festa and Zebby Matthews have never faced the Rays. Jeff Springs hasn't allowed a run over 6 1/3 innings against the Twins. Pablo Lopez is (1-3) with a 4.05 ERA in seven starts versus the Rays. Taj Bradley has a 5.06 ERA in 10 2/3 innings against the Twins. Shane Baz gave up five runs over 2 1/3 innings in 2022 against the Twins.

Back TUA the Future

Looking now at the present landscape of the AFC and AFC east, the Dolphins have a lot of good teams to compete against before they can get to the Super Bowl. This past year, the Dolphins were 9-8 and 3-3 in the division. After the off-season acquisitions and another year with McDaniel there is no reason why we shouldn't be better, barring any health related setbacks. But, here is the problem, the Buffalo Bills with Josh Allen will continue to do their thing and you can't not mention them until we win the division and the Jets with Aaron Rodgers could be very dangerous. Even though the jets didn't play the dolphins last year with Tua, you can't ignore the fact that they won 7 games this past year, something we haven't seen them do in about 3 years and before that 7 years ago. Last year they hit on all three of their first round draft picks (Sauce Gardner, Garret Wilson and Breece Hall) and as a result got to a 7-3 start this season. All that was done with Zack Wilson being the Quarterback, who we can now say is a bust, so imagine that but with Rodgers... Yikes. This year is definitely going to be a dog fight in the AFC east but I am confident the Dolphins have what it takes to win the division and if that's the case our post season will be a lot better having at least 1 game at home.

We already know what the offense can do when healthy, now you pair up Jalen Ramsey with Xavien Howard, not to mention Jevon Holland, Bradley Chubb, and Jaelen Phillips. We have a lot of pieces on the defensive side of the ball that can allow the Fins to really make some noise no matter who is in the way. I really believe with Vangio the Dolphins D will be able to transform back into that 2020 form along with Xavien Howard specifically. X last year didn't have his best year to say the least and it wasn't all because he was playing with a groin injury. Even though that doesn't help, X also struggled last year due to not having his guy Byron there and Boyers play calling. If I had a dollar for every 3&18 cover zero blitz that led to the defense getting torched I'd be a rich man. Vangio has a zone heavy scheme that will be able to help everyone out and lead to hopefully stops on third downs. The Dolphins last year were well below the bottom half of the league in third downs on defense. The defense had a dramatic fall in production after Flores left, now that we have Vangio we should look a lot different next year.

All in all, I project the Dolphins to win at the minimum 11 games next year if not 13. The AFCE will be tough but I think this is the year the dolphins finally pass the Bills and secure a home playoff game.
