Something I've really missed in Oxventure is the use of the character art, like with each new campaign, the character art seems to be being used less and less, however! I think that's gonna be turned around (a bit) for Oxventure: Wyrdwood!

Just going off the trailer and the shorts talking about the new characters, two characters have different facial expressions in those videos:

Robin

And Lug

For both characters, their poses are the same for each image they're in. The only thing that's changed is their expressions, similar to both the original oxventure and oxventure in the dark. In both of those campaigns, each character has a pose (two slightly different poses for oitd) and then a few interchangeable expressions that can be put on their face.

For example:

And Zillah

So if Robin and Lug seem to be following the main pose and interchangeable expressions trend from the first two Oxventure campaigns, it makes sense to think that Willowfine, Cressida, and Happen will be doing the same.

If Wyrdwood is doing that, it would make sense that we'd be seeing the character art more! Whether it be the occasional pop-up throughout the episode and its use in a summary at the beginning of the episode, like in oitd, or small moments in the episode being animated via dragging the character art around like they're dolls, like in (the beginning of) og Oxventure, or something totally new! Whatever it'll be, it seems like the character art is gonna be used more.

Some (more) Oxventure in the Dark headcanons:

- Barnaby is the oldest of the group; he doesn’t seem like it partly because he’s rich and can afford decent food etc, partly because of his indolent personality and partly because he’s a Paul Rudd/Keanu Reeves level cryptid.

- Edvard on the other hand is the youngest, which everyone else kinda cottoned on to relatively quickly. He’s the unofficial little brother of the group; this is also due to him having the Least Suited to this Crap award amongst the crew. He tries to hide it but he has the softest heart, is the most moral and has an almost rabid sense of justice.

- Zillah *loves* romance novels, the more syrupy and fluffy the better. She’s also the best shipper on board you could want; ask her to help you with anything to do with impressing or wooing someone you’re into and she’s *living* for it. She’s indifferent to relationships for herself though.

- Lilith is not fussed about killing people so long as there’s a justification and has killed before. Her upbringing and training does mean she’s quite amoral without her realising.

- Kasimir is a widower and the death of his spouse is part of why he parted ways with the Billhooks. It’s also why he’s actually ageing a lot more rapidly than even a lifelong criminal born into poverty would. I headcanon he’s probably barely 40, but grief and guilt (and his injury) are taking a heavy toll.

- Barnaby is almost single-handedly keeping the fortunes of his family and several other families in his orbit afloat. His business acumen is known by some hangers-on in the know, who pay for his drinks and get him to give them advice on their ventures, which always works. Barnaby doesn’t realise this though.

- And of course, Barnaby and Cart-on-the-Road had an absolutely passionate torrid love affair

Head canon that Zillah likes to carry the other hobby horses just cause she can. Sometimes it's super helpful and Lilith and Edvard take full advantage of her weird habit.

Oxventure furry hcs bc it's fun to imagine (Egbert, Rust, Silas, and Garnet are excluded from this bc they're either already animals (Egbert and Rust) or I just can't seem them as furries (Silas and Garnet))

Corazón: white cat (is still a pirate but white cat for some kind of elegance)

Prudence: black wolf (that's very magical)

Dob: Golden Retriever or Sheepdog (wolf is an option bc of his backstory, but he just has big dog vibes)

Kasimir: Saint Bernard

Edvard: rat/mouse (lab rat)

Lilith: big snake

Zillah: sheep or ram

Barnaby: Borzoi or Afghan Hound (essentially a fancy looking dog with a long snout)

Billie: Bison (was there any other option? (Sarcasm))

Edie: fox

Nate: herding dog

Delacy: cool wolf or coyote with like glowing eyes

I was inspired by the incredible art of @panelperday so I wanted to try a study in their style, using Zillah as my subject. But 5 seconds in I basically had to give up, it was so hard! The clean, yet energetic lines, the bright, yet calm colours. How do they do it??
