The only reason I shipped Kaatang was so we could get over it. It was so endgame,it was annoying. And Zutara doesn't add anything. It's more of a fanfic thing.

But I like Zukka. Their platonic bond was great,but Suki x Sokka is important. It could work in a platonic sense or a romantic sense.

Hey what are your avatar otps besides azulaang?

oh umm… I wouldn’t call them OTPs since that is exclusively Azulaang, but my bi Azula headcanon lives in a variety of ships. Azutara, Azuki, Maizula… not Tyzula tbh because that feels like… imbalanced? and not Tophzula because they are menace-besties but not romantic, but with any of the other girls I think it could be great. Azutara has the enemies to lovers from Azulaang but with more spice and less forgiveness, they‘d tear eachother apart first but that makes it even sweeter if they eventually fall in love. Azuki is kind of different because Suki is more rational and holds less of an emotional grudge, it‘d be difficult for Azula to earn her trust but she would not be openly hostile to her unless necessary. I imagine this one could only happen if Azula is already in the middle or post redemption though, because Suki would not put up with any EtL shit. I guess that is exactly why it intrigues me too, I feel Suki would be more willing to give Azula a chance, more than Katara for example, but at the same time it would be impossibly hard to win her trust and I‘d like to see if Zula can manage it. Lastly Maizula, and I prefer this one over Tyzula because I feel Mai is more capable of holding her own against Azula in a relationship. It’s a complicated version of childhood friends to lovers and I‘m kind of here for it. No idea how it would work though lol.

Aside from Azula ships, I think Zutara is pretty cool and works well alongside Azulaang. Kataang is kinda cool in theory too, but I don’t like shipping Aang with anyone except Azula, it feels wrong 🤷‍♂️ The only other Aang ship I can imagine liking is Zukaang, but I don’t talk about it much.

Oh and I have to give a shoutout to Sokkla, I don’t particularly vibe with it but they’re the sister ship to Azulaang and I do see the potential of the two genius strategists, so if Aang didn’t exist I would definitely ship Sokkla instead. Nothing but love to the comrades over there. 🫶🏼

edit: totally forgot this but I actually also love Tylaang aka Ty-Lee and Aang, it just has absolutely no fandom so it’s hard to get the ball rolling. I just feel they would be such a wholesome bubbly cute ship, and I dig the Ty-Lee airbender ancestry theory so she‘d love to learn all about airbender customs and they‘d have so much fun and probably a huge family 😅 anyway I think party of why I ship this is just because I think these two deserve the world and it represents my wish for them to be totally carefree and happy. you can also add Azula and make this a throuple, I think that would work because you have Tyzula as the polar opposites and Aang in the middle to bridge the gap.

speaking of throuples I enjoy the idea of… Azutaraang? (Azula/Katara/Aang) but it is very difficult to make work. The only way I can see it is if Azula and Katara fall in love first because nothing good could come of them fighting over Aang. or maybe I could see like a stranded on a deserted island AU where the three of them have to work together and learn to rely on eachother… idk, difficult but not impossible.

Oh and I love Zuki too (Zuko x Zuki) …damn I guess I do have quite a few non-Azulaang ships. anyway this is essentially a bodyguard AU and it’s actually my favorite Zuko ship (sorry Zutara) not much to say about it cuz I’ve barely engaged with it, but I love the idea and think they would just work really well together. I also can see this as a throuple with Sokka again. I don’t really vibe with Zukka on their own but if you add Suki then I love it, because Suki deserves two good boys and it’s more fun for everyone involved if those two good boys are in love with eachother too.

Let’s be real. The only reason toxic Zutarians and delusional Zukkas became so rampant is for the same reason.

Zutararians and Zukkas are two generations of the same issue.

Maiko is written so incoherently and Mai gets no development of her own. Zuko and her are a terrible match and treat each other poorly (I know the fandom can’t agree which one is at fault but I don’t think it matters).

Fans searching for a more satisfying conclusion of the fandom fav Zuko stumble into the waiting clutches of Zutarians or Zukkas who bombard them with their terrible takes, OOC writing, and admittedly beautiful fan art. Before you know it, they lose touch with actual canon.

This is all Bryke’s fault for writing Maiko terribly.

And yet people blame Zucest… nonsense!

Anon, I don't mean to be rude, but you're just wrong all around. Not only do I not think Maiko is terrible (might not be my OTP, but I am fond of it), but even if it WAS and fans had to rely on fanon for good romance, that does NOT explain or justify the way Zutarians and Zukkas not only act like their personal preference is objectively better than everyone else's but also actively lie to themselves and others about their ships totally being secretly canon but screwed over at the last second.

They do that for one reason alone: Entitlement. They're entitled, spoiled cry babies who screetch at anyone with a different preference because they take it as a personal attack.

Bryke writting Maiko any differently would not have made these people less insufferable. Hell, their ships hapenning in the exact way they wanted them to would also not do the trick, if anything it'd make them worse.

It doesn't matter what you think about Bryke as writers and people, or how you feel about the canon ships: The bad behavior of Zutara and Zukka fans is the responsibility of Zutara and Zukka fans, nobody else.

I don't like Legend Of Korra or the comics. Never sent a death threat to the people who made them. Never harassed fans of it or had them doxxed. I love Zucest to unhealthy degrees, but you won't see me claiming "There was totally a deleted scene of them kissing in the finale instead of fighting, but evil Bryke ruined it all, and if you don't believe my obvious bullshit I'll scream at you until I'm blue in the face!"

I LOATHE the ending of How I Met Your Mother with all my being, and resent the showrunners for being such dicks to fans and complaining we didn't praise their terrible writting. I would NEVER accuse them of abusing their authority over the actors and being predators just because I disagree with awful messages the finale sent - something zutarians do Kataang and Maiko fans ALL THE TIME.

It's really, really, really, really easy to not do that kind of stuff.

Be critical of Bryke and their writting, have whatever opinion you wanna have on Maiko, but let's not pretend writers/showrunners are to blame for FANS attacking people.

It'd be like going "Oh, this actress and her fans got death threats because audiences didn't like her character, clearly this is the writers fault for mishandling said character" NOPE, the blame of that kind of awful behavior ALWAYS lies solely with the people who choose to act like that.

those comics FUCKED the romantic relationships we saw in atla. sukka is okay there ig but kataang and maiko? i just screamed when i saw those panels of katara being disrespected by aang's fans and him not saying anything. maiko was already on it's last leg but the comics go into that loop of fight - make out - break up and shit again and it pisses me the fuck off. for anyone out there unhappy because any of your ship wasn't canon (zukka, zutara, mailee, tyzula, maizula, taang, tokka, zukaang) DON'T BE. those comics would destroy your otp, i promise you. additional note: the comics also fucked the friendships! i can't deal with the promise without wanting to rip my hair out, they really acted like zuko wasn't friends with the rest of the gaang and his bond with aang wasn't important or that aang would ever consider killing his friend when he didn't kill ozai (which, btw, he was right. that's not up to discussion. aang did what he saw fit for his beliefs and the world's well-being. he was the last of his people and managed to find a way to end the war and honor his culture and.)

supergirl: pls dont come at me for this but i cannot see agent reign, i get the appeal, ive read fics with agentreign in them and they're super cute, but ive never personally been invested in them.

also, while i definitely think kara's had a crush on cat, i like them too much as a mentor/mentee to ever go near a supercat fic. (but i understand the appeal of both those ships)

legend of korra: mako x wu, i dont rly ship them but i think their dynamic is FUCKING hilarious. also ik its technically a:tla and not lok but i dont ship zukka, i love sukka too much, but i do prefer zukka over zutara. (fight me)

10. Most disliked arc? Why?

supergirl: guardiancorp. it felt so needless. i can come up with ten better ways they could've done the harun-el storyline without them getting into a relationship. i shipped pretty much anything the writers threw at us but i could NOT get behind lena x james at all. actually here's one i just thought of: james reveals he's guardian, lena starts helping him be a vigilante = lena and james form a bond and she uses the harun-el to save him bc shes a hero - OH imagine lena being overwatch!

actually, all of season 4 makes my blood boil - not bc i think it was a bad season, it was just too good at its job and i hated it for making me wanna rip my hair out every second. xenophobes taking over? lex luthor manipulating linda? alex loses her memories? the episode right after? the supercorp angst? oh my god the REVEAL?

10/10 would recommend, but you couldn't pay me to rewatch it.

wait no if theres one thing i could change - its not the show its in the comics - kuvira's "redemption" arc. ma'am. you were literally a dictator and you tortured people. go on a year long trip to restore your honor. actually, scratch that, go on a meaningful road trip with each member of the beifong family (the apology tour). i do believe you can change but the rote arc felt too rushed - maybe end on a more open note instead of saying "thats it, she's redeemed!"

It's funny that zk hate Aang and Mai only because these characters are a threat to their fanon ship. Aang and Mei don't interest them beyond talking about ships. If the endships were, for example, Zuko and Toph, or Zuko and Jin, or Katara and Haru, then they would never talk about Mai or Aang, but they would hate Toph, Jin or Haru with fierce hatred. I once read how they were discussing toko (Toph/Zuko). They were talking about some well-drawn fan art and, obviously, sensing a potential threat in the Toph, attacked her with poisonous comments.

Yup. Which is why Jet tends to get the role of "asshole/abusive ex boyfriend" in their fics almost as much as Aang. They cannot STAND the very basic concept of "My ship is not for everyone and sometimes people prefer the 'rival' pairings."

I've had some of them snap at me and shit-talk Zucest and Azula since they know I ship her with Zuko, and I'm like ???????? Buddy, the zucest fandom has about 20 people, including me, why are you feeling so threatened?

But my FAVORITE hate-campain of their was towards the "Zukka" (it was really Voltron fans projecting their Klance headcanons onto Sokka and Zuko) die-hards because EVERYTHING they gave Zukka fans shit for were things they ALSO did on the the regular.

Projecting and completely misrepresenting canon? Check.

Feelings entitled to have their ship be treated as canon? Check.

BEGGING Netflix to make it canon and pretending it was guaranteed to happen? Check.

Harrassing, bullying and threatening anyone who liked a rival pairing? Check.

Accusing everyone of being sexist/homophobic for not shipping it, but writing incredibly sexist/homophobic metas and fanfics with zero self-awareness? Check.

Delusional "The are totally hints in The Legend Of Korra that they raised Izumi together/had a secret love-child"? Check.

Convincing themselves they're the underdog, niche ship appreciated by few and hated by the majority when they were one of the loudest, largest, most insufferable parts of the fandom that wouldn't leave people the fuck alone? CHECK, CHECK, AND CHECK.
