Summer Film Preview: 27 of the Most Anticipated Movies of the Season!
Among ET's 90 top picks for summer are our 27 most anticipated films of the season.
Every summer, there is no shortage of new films to blow audiences away at theaters -- and blow away records at the box office. This summer, things are looking especially massive. Blockbuster season kicks off in a huge way with the highly anticipated back-to-back releases of Deadpool 2and Solo: A Star Wars Story, ushering in an onslaught of franchise films with new installments of Jurassic World, Marvel's Ant-Man, Mission: Impossible and The Purge.
Not everything is a sequel, though. Of the originals is the eagerly awaited adaptation of Crazy Rich Asians, marking the first time a major studio has produced an all-Asian-led film since The Joy Luck Club; Spike Lee's latest, BlacKkKlansman; and -- because it wouldn't be summer without one -- a shark attack flick, The Meg, starring Jason Statham.
But no matter what you’re looking forward to, there's plenty to choose from among these 27 sure-to-be hit films.
Deadpool 2 (Out Now)
The Deadpool sequel is bigger, louder and packed with more violence and superpeople, dick jokes and fourth wall-breaking meta-ness than the original X-Men-adjacent movie. And while that all sounds like a recipe for a bloated case of sequelitis, Ryan Reynolds and co. not only pull it off, but top the first.
Directed by: David Leitch | Written by: Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Ryan Reynolds Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams
Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25)
Forget everything you think you know about the legendary smuggler and prepare for the unexpected. That's the best advice we can give you about Star Wars' latest anthology installment, which, sure, features the Kessel Run and Han Solo and Chewbacca's origin story, then blasts off for so much more.
Directed by: Ron Howard | Written by: Jonathan Kasdan and Lawrence Kasdan Starring: Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Emilia Clarke
American Animals (June 1)
Tumblr media
The Orchard / MoviePass Ventures
According to the minds behind American Animals, while most movies are based on a true story, this one is a true story, about four college students who plan "one of the most audacious art heists in U.S. history." It also marks the first appearance on this list by the true star of the summer movie season: Ann Dowd.
Directed by: Bart Layton | Written by: Bart Layton Starring: Evan Peters, Barry Keoghan, Blake Jenner, Jared Abrahamson, Ann Dowd
Hereditary (June 8)
Tumblr media
A24
Following its screening at Sundance earlier this year, Hereditary was hailed as the scariest horror movie in years -- if not of all time. As for what actually transpires in the film, well, that is best left vague. Brace yourself for hypnotically unnerving tongue pops and flashbacks to Toni Collette's iconic turn in The Sixth Sense.
Directed by: Ari Aster | Written by: Ari Aster Starring: Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff, Milly Shapiro, Ann Dowd
Ocean's 8 (June 8)
This year's Met Gala might as well have been early promo for Ocean's 8, which centers on another heist-happy Ocean, Debbie, who assembles a team of women to help rob a fictional Met Gala. (If you do some simple math, it seems Anne Hathaway's mark is one of the eight, too.) Unfortunately, Rihanna will likely not be dressed as a sexy pope.
Directed by: Gary Ross | Written by: Gary Ross and Olivia Milch Starring: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna
Won't You Be My Neighbor? (June 8)
Tumblr media
Focus Features
If you were a child in the '60s -- or '70s, '80s, '90s, the aughts, really, if you were a child ever -- then Won't You Be My Neighbor? will be a nostalgic return to your younger years, a look at the long-running and formative TV series Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and the man behind it, the late Fred Rogers.
Directed by: Morgan Neville
Hearts Beat Loud (June 8)
Tumblr media
Gunpowder & Sky
This gem of an indie is for anyone who has ever wished Nick Offerman could be your best friend, your dad or both: Kiersey Clemons plays Offerman's daughter and reluctant bandmate as they navigate fame and family in Hearts Beat Louder. Sprinkle in a queer romance and an earworm-y soundtrack, and what more could you ask for?
Directed by: Brett Haley | Written by: Brett Haley and Marc Basch Starring: Nick Offerman, Kiersey Clemons, Ted Danson, Toni Collette, Sasha Lane, Blythe Danner
Hotel Artemis (June 8)
Tumblr media
Global Road Entertainment
Read this logline: "Set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, Hotel Artemis is a high-octane action-thriller starring Jodie Foster as The Nurse, who runs a secret, members-only hospital for criminals." Now re-read that sentence over and over and over until you go insane and this becomes your most anticipated movie of the year.
Directed by: Drew Pearce | Written by: Drew Pearce Starring: Jodie Foster, Dave Bautista, Sofia Boutella, Zachary Quinto, Sterling K. Brown, Jeff Goldblum
Incredibles 2 (June 15)
Tumblr media
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures
It has been well over a decade since the original Incredibles arrived in theaters and, even now, under the looming threat of superhero saturation, that first film remains one of the best superhero movies period. Finally, Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack are back, with Frozone and, of course, Edna.
Directed by: Brad Bird | Written by: Brad Bird Starring: Holly Hunter, Craig T. Nelson, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine Keener, Sophia Bush
Tag (June 15)
Tumblr media
Warner Bros. Pictures
This is a movie about tag -- as in, the game in which you tag someone and they are then "it." Specifically, Tag is about a group of childhood buddies who have been playing tag one month out of the year, every year, for 30 years. If you are wondering, Where do they come up with this?!, it was a Wall Street Journal article.
Directed by: Jeff Tomsic | Written by: Rob McKittrick and Mark Steilen Starring: Jeremy Renner, Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Jon Hamm, Hannibal Buress, Isla Fisher, Leslie Bibb
Damsel (June 22)
Tumblr media
Magnolia Pictures
If you hear that Robert Pattinson is starring in a Western, you probably have a notion of what that film is. Damsel is not the movie you're imagining, guaranteed -- unless, of course, you pictured a screwball comedy about a pioneer who voyages west with a drunkard and a miniature horse named Butterscotch.
Directed by: David Zellner and Nathan Zellner | Written by: David Zellner and Nathan Zellner Starring: Robert Pattinson, Mia Wasikowska, David Zellner
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22)
In the colossally successful Jurassic World, the dinosaurs destroyed the park, as dinosaurs are wont to do, and now Isla Nublar is threatening to destroy the dinosaurs. Thus, Claire and Owen are enlisted to help save the dinosaurs from a second extinction -- and that's only the beginning of this adventure.
Directed by: J.A. Bayona | Written by: Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly Starring: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, James Cromwell, Justice Smith
Under the Silver Lake (June 22)
Tumblr media
A24
Something about those hot summer nights must make us itch for a mystery, because this is yet another noir-y flick arriving in cineplexes, albeit a very modern take on the genre. Andrew Garfield plays a stoner Angelino who begins sleuthing when his dream girl disappears in the middle of the night without a trace.
Directed by: David Robert Mitchell | Written by: David Robert Mitchell Starring: Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough, Topher Grace, Jimmi Simpson
The First Purge (July 4)
Tumblr media
Universal Pictures
There's something almost comforting about knowing that every (sometimes every other) Independence Day brings a new installment in the ongoing Purge franchise. Who knew a nutty little murder flick could have so much steam? This one goes back to the beginning and the invention of a government-sponsored killing spree.
Directed by: Gerard McMurray | Written by: James DeMonaco Starring: Lex Scott Davis, Y'lan Noel, Luna Lauren Velez, Joivan Wade, Marisa Tomei
Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6)
Consider the Ant-Man sequel a respite for those still reeling over the ending of Infinity War, a plucky comedic romp about heroes who shrink, supersize and now fly, too, which probably won't leave you frantically wiping away tears as the theater lights come on. Also, Michelle Pfeiffer plays a superhero!
Directed by: Peyton Reed | Written by: Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari and Paul Rudd Starring: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hannah John-Kamen, Michael Peña
Sorry to Bother You (July 6)
Tumblr media
Annapurna Pictures
There is original, and then there is Sorry to Bother You. If a stranger, more out-there film has ever been made, I haven't seen it. I've never seen anything like this, a satiric tale about a telemarketer who uses his "white voice" to get ahead that feels at once painstakingly plotted and completely free-associated.
Directed by: Boots Riley | Written by: Boots Riley Starring: Lakeith Stanfield, Tessa Thompson, Jermaine Fowler, Steven Yeun, Armie Hammer
Whitney (July 6)
Whitney is not the first documentary to turn the lens on Whitney Houston in the years since her 2012 death, but it is the first to be endorsed by her estate, featuring interviews with loved ones of Houston who had never spoken publicly before and bombshell revelations that made news ahead of Whitney's official release.
Directed by: Kevin Macdonald
Eighth Grade (July 13)
Tumblr media
A24
You know how adults always say, "I'm so happy I didn't grow up when there was social media." Watch this Sundance drama, comedian Bo Burnham's directorial debut, and feel that tenfold, alternately a cringey and heartwarming look at what it means to be coming into your own -- yes, with YouTube and Twitter.
Directed by: Bo Burnham | Written by: Bo Burnham Starring: Elsie Fisher, Josh Hamilton
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (July 20)
Is Meryl Streep's character still alive for the Mamma Mia! sequel? Supposedly. We do know that we will see a younger version of Donna (played by Lily James) as the ABBA singalong jumps back in time to show the Dynamos' origin story, while in the present, Donna's daughter is pregnant with a baby of her own.
Directed by: Ol Parker | Written by: Ol Parker Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Lily James, Colin Firth, Cher
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (July 27)
Tumblr media
Paramount Pictures
After successfully completing five other supposedly impossible missions, whatever Ethan Hunt is tasked with in Fallout should be considered mission: pretty difficult but manageable. Still, Tom Cruise continues to up the ante in insane and preposterous ways, like jumping out of a plane at 25,000 feet, for one.
Directed by: Christopher McQuarrie | Written by: Christopher McQuarrie Starring: Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett
Christopher Robin (Aug. 3)
If you enjoyed last year's period drama Goodbye Christopher Robin, about the real boy who inspired the creation of Winnie the Pooh, then you are sure to enjoy this, too, Disney's less historical, more fantastical tale about grown-up Christopher Robin and how Pooh and the rest of the Hundred Acre Wood gang help him rediscover his imagination.
Directed by: Marc Forster | Written by: Alex Ross Perry Starring: Ewan McGregor, Hayley Atwell, Jim Cummings, Chris O'Dowd, Brad Garrett, Toby Jones
The Spy Who Dumped Me (Aug. 3)
I would pay money to watch Kate McKinnon read the phone book. Thankfully, she gets much more to do in this action-comedy, in which Mila Kunis plays the unwitting woman dumped by a spy. McKinnon plays her bestie, and the two quickly find themselves in over their heads trying to stop a terrorist group and save the world.
Directed by: Susanna Fogel | Written by: David Iserson and Susanna Fogel Starring: Mila Kunis, Kate McKinnon, Sam Heughan, Gillian Anderson, Justin Theroux
BlacKkKlansman (Aug. 10)
Tumblr media
Focus Features
Spike Lee is back with his latest joint, the so-crazy-it-must-be-true saga of Ron Stallworth, the first black police officer in Colorado Springs, and his undercover operation to infiltrate a local Ku Klux Klan chapter, which was so successful that he eventually became its head.
Directed by: Spike Lee | Written by: Spike Lee, David Rabinowitz, Charlie Wachtel, Kevin Willmott Starring: John David Washington, Adam Driver, Topher Grace, Laura Harrier
The Meg (Aug. 10)
Tumblr media
Warner Bros. Pictures
No summer is complete without a silly shark attack movie, and for the summer of 2018, The Meg fits that bill and then some. First of all, the shark in question is a megalodon, which basically just means a REALLY BIG F**KING SHARK, and hopefully Jason Statham will punch it at some point, right?
Directed by: Jon Turteltaub | Written by: Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber Starring: Jason Statham, Ruby Rose, Rainn Wilson, Bingbing Li, Cliff Curtis, Masi Oka
Crazy Rich Asians (Aug. 17)
Based on the bestselling novel by Kevin Kwan, Crazy Rich Asians is about a Chinese American professor who travels to Singapore to meet her boyfriend's family and discovers they are -- you guessed it -- crazy rich! Hijinks ensue. This is also the first Hollywood movie with a majority Asian cast in 25 years, i.e., crazy overdue.
Directed by: Jon M. Chu | Written by: Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim Starring: Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Ken Jeong
To All the Boys I've Loved Before (Aug. 17)
Tumblr media
Netflix
Here's one YA fans have been waiting for. Based on the bestselling novel by Jenny Han, the title refers to letters our heroine, Lara Jean Covey, writes to her past crushes, love letters they are never meant to see -- but do, after they're accidentally mailed out. You don't need to head to the cinema to swoon over this one; it's streaming on Netflix.
Directed by: Susan Johnson | Written by: Sofia Alvarez Starring: Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Janel Parrish, Emilija Baranac, Israel Broussard, John Corbett
The Happytime Murders (Aug. 17)
Nothing says summertime like puppets snorting ecstasy and soliciting sex. The Happytime Murders -- no lie, from the same director as The Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island -- is about police partners, one felt and one Melissa McCarthy, investigating who is shooting the stuffing out of puppets.
Directed by: Brian Henson | Written by: Todd Berger Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Elizabeth Banks, Maya Rudolph, Joel McHale

Johnny Depp's 7 Biggest 'Rolling Stone' Revelations: From Depression to How Much He Really Spends on Wine
Johnny Depp is opening up in a big way in a candid new interview with  Rolling Stone magazine, in which the 55-year-old actor addresses his highly publicized legal battles over his finances and reports of his extravagant spending.
Writer Stephen Rodrick was invited to spend time with Depp at his rented mansion in London, England, where the conversation also turned to his complicated relationships with close family and friends, as well as a serious struggle with depression due to problems both in his personal and financial lives.
Here's a look at the biggest revelations from Depp's interview:
Multimillion-dollar lawsuits, a haze of booze and hash, a marriage gone very wrong and a lifestyle he can’t afford. In our exclusive new feature, we take you inside the trials of Johnny Depp. "I kept trying to figure out what I'd done to deserve this," he says. "I'd tried being kind to everyone, helping everyone, being truthful to everyone." Click the link in our bio to read the full story. Illustration by Matt Mahurin (@mattmahurin)
A post shared by Rolling Stone (@rollingstone) on Jun 21, 2018 at 5:02am PDT
1. Depp is very much open about his drinking and smoking
Rodrick describes entering Depp's rented mansion and feeling his presence immediately.
“He is here in the stogie-size joint left by the sink in the guest bathroom. He is here in the never-ending reservoir of wine that is poured into goblets," he observes.
During their first meeting, Rodrick writes that "Depp sits at the head of the table and motions towards some rolling papers and two equal piles of tobacco and hash, and asks if I mind. I don't. He pauses for a second. 'Well, let's drink some wine first.' This goes on for 72 hours."
Depp also isn't shy about his history of using drugs. Later in the interview, when talking about one of his idols, writer Hunter S. Thompson, he regrets quaaludes no longer being around and recalls the bootleg quaaludes he used to take.
"They're made with just a little bit of arsenic or strychnine, so the high was far more immediate," he explains.
Depp then recalls once asking a Florida bouncer to punch him while on quaaludes for no reason.
"You either wanted to smile and just be happy with your pals, or f**k, or fight," he says of being under the influence.
2. He has complicated relationships with his family
Depp talks extensively about his late mother, Betty Sue, in the interview, who died in 2016 after a long battle with cancer. The actor reveals the first thing he bought when he started making money was a small horse farm for his mom in Kentucky, where she was born.
"My mom was born in a f**king holler in eastern Kentucky," he says. "Her poor f**king a** was on phenobarbital at 12."
Though he clearly loved his mother, he also claims they moved 40 times growing up and that she would sometimes give him "irrational beatings."
"Maybe it's an ashtray coming your way. Maybe you're gonna get clunked with the phone," he says. "It was a ghost house -- no one talked. I don't think there was ever a way that I thought about people, especially women, other than 'I can fix them.'"
"Betty Sue, I worshiped her," he continues, before adding, "She could be a real b***h on wheels."
At her 2016 funeral, Depp recalls saying, "My mom was maybe the meanest human being I have ever met in my life."
As for his other siblings, Depp -- who's the youngest of four -- tells the magazine that one of his sisters and her husband and son moved to his mother's farm in Kentucky and were hired to manage the property, but their spending allegedly became out of control. After his mother died, the family still lives there.
"Their thinking is that I'm going to take care of them forever and that the farm is now theirs," he says. "I didn't make that promise."
The magazine also notes that Depp's close relationship with his sister, Christi, who was once a constant in his life and managed his day-to-day affairs, became strained when she was opposed to his 2015 marriage to Amber Heard.
"Depp’s last constant connection with the real world was severed," Rodrick writes.
3. He actually spent more than $30,000 a month on wine
Depp's former business associates filed a countersuit against the actor last February, after the actor filed a lawsuit in mid-January against The Management Group (TMG) and its associates for allegedly defrauding him and mismanaging his money. Among Depp's alleged extravagant expenses they claimed they warned him about was spending $30,000 a month on wines flown to him from around the globe.
Depp proudly admits the number is actually higher.
“It’s insulting to say I spent $30,000 on wine,” Depp says. “Because it was far more."
Depp also addressed the claim that he paid a sound engineer so he could feed him lines through an earpiece while filming, explaining that it was actually sounds that were fed to him, which he says allowed him to be a better actor.
“I’ve got bagpipes, a baby crying and bombs going off,” Depp shares of the sounds. “It creates a truth. Some of my biggest heroes were in silent film. It had to be behind the eyes. And my feeling is, that if there’s no truth behind the eyes, doesn’t matter what the f**king words are.”
As for the allegation that he spent $3 million to blast Thompson’s ashes out of a specially-made cannon?
"By the way, it was not $3 million to blast Hunter out of the f**king sky," he says. "It was $5 million."
And it appears that Depp's lawsuit against TMG isn't going to be resolved anytime soon.
"I have never, ever been in my life the bully kid," he notes. "I never went out of my way to hurt anybody. When I was a little kid, what I was taught was never start a f**king fight, but if somebody f**king tags you or starts invading your f**king world, finish the f**king fight. To my mom's exact words, 'lay them out with a f**king brick.'"
4. He became depressed over his financial issues and personal life
Depp says that after his divorce from Heard and his lawsuit, he became severly depressed.
"I was as low as I believe I could have gotten,” he says. “The next step was, ‘You’re going to arrive somewhere with your eyes open and you’re going to leave with your eyes closed.’ I couldn’t take the pain every day.”
He says he then went on tour with his band, The Hollywood Vampires, and started writing a memoir on an old manual typewriter, like Thompson.
“I poured myself a vodka in the morning and started writing until the tears filled my eyes and I couldn’t see the pages anymore,” he tearfully says. “I kept trying to figure out what I’d done to deserve this. I tried being kind to everyone, helping everyone, being truthful to everyone.”
“The truth is most important to me," he adds. "And all this still happened.”
5. He was extremely close to Tom Petty
Depp reveals he had a close friendship with the late Tom Petty, who died in January of an accidental drug overdose.
The actor says they used to frequently speak on the phone, and has clearly been hit hard by his death.
“We’d call each other and ask, ‘Hey, you still smoking [nicotine]?’ Depp recalls. “Tom would go, ‘Yeah, I’m still smoking.’ And I’d feel better: ‘Well, if Tom is still smoking, I’m OK.’”
“I loved him,” he continues after a pause, shedding tears.
Later, he also laments the deaths of Thompson and Marlon Brando, and the loneliness he now feels.
"Marlon and Hunter. I needed my guys," he says.
6. He supported Penelope Cruz while they filmed Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Cruz reveals to the magazine she told Depp that she was pregnant right before shooting 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and contemplated dropping out. She says Depp opposed.
“He protected me every day, and by the end, I was six months pregnant,” Cruz says. “I’ll never forget that.”
"I imagine Johnny doing a version of Jack Sparrow at 70, or 80,” Cruz also muses, referencing his iconic Pirates character. “It will be as charming and as great.”
7. He has plenty of thoughts on Harvey Weinstein
Depp recalls his interaction with the disgraced movie mogul, calling him an "a**hole" and a "bully" when he worked with him and director Jim Jarmusch on 1995's Dead Man.
“Have you seen his wife? It’s not a wide range," he also comments. "It’s not like he went, ‘I must go to the Poconos to find some hairy-backed b***h.’”
Still, he recalls a more tender side to Weinstein, when he witnessed him picking up his daughter from school.
"The image that took my breath away was Harvey Weinstein, a goliath Shrek thing, bending down to put on his daughter's raincoat," he shares.
Earlier this month, some fans became concerned about Depp after photos of him in Russia were shared on social  media, in which they commented that he looked "thin." However, an insider told ET that Depp, who is currently on tour with The Hollywood Vampires, is doing fine.
“Johnny is healthy and is enjoying his time on the road with his band,” the source said.
ET spoke to Depp last May, when he gushed about his 19-year-old daughter, model Lily-Rose Depp. Watch below:

Alicia Silverstone Is 'Super Excited' About Dating Again But Admits It Can Be 'Confusing'
Alicia Silverstone is fully embracing the dating life.
In a new interview with Redbook, the 41-year-old actress opens up about raising her 7-year-old child, Bear, as a single mom after filing for divorce last month from musician Christopher Jarecki following 12 years of marriage.
While Silverstone told ET shortly after the divorce filing that she was "doing great," the Clueless and American Woman actress admits to the magazine that the separation has been difficult nonetheless.
"Obviously, it's heartbreaking. You don't ever think you'll be apart when you get married," she shares. "All I can really say is that we'll co-parent Bear together, and this is completely a good thing for both of us."

As for diving back into the dating pool?
"I love it," she says with a laugh, but adding that it can sometimes be a little daunting.
"Yes, I go on dates, and I find it very fascinating meeting interesting, intelligent, different people," she says. "I'm super excited about being available and open to whatever's next. Of course, there's tons about it that’s confusing. I call my girlfriends and I'm like, 'What does this mean?'"
As for being a mom, Silverstone sounds pretty chill. While she's an animal rights activist who has posed nude for PETA on more than one occasion and a vocal vegan, she's not overly strict with Bear on that front.

"I'm really open to Bear being a little bit flexible out in the world. When he is with other kids who are eating regular pizza — if there's no vegan pizza, I want him to have the pizza," she says. "I know other vegans might not agree with that or think it's acceptable, but I don't care. I just try to always make sure that at some point in the day he gets some brown rice in him, some greens, and some beans. And if he does that, I feel good. You do the best you can."
Silverstone adds that she also wants Bear to embrace a love of life.
"I hope most that he sees that Mommy's passionate about life, and maybe that will inspire him to find his passion in life and live it to the fullest," she shares.

Lance Bass Reveals Ongoing Battle With Depression & How *NSYNC Reacted to Him Being Gay (Exclusive)
As he prepares to attend a remembrance ceremony to mark the two-year anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, on Tuesday night, Lance Bass is still distraught thinking about the mindless tragedy, which killed 49 people. The LGBT hot spot was one of the first places where Bass was able to celebrate his sexuality, and reaching a point where he could bring himself to do so was no easy feat.
In fact, in a new interview with ET, the 39-year-old musician -- who confirmed he was gay in 2006 -- is sharing the extent to which he struggled with his identity up to that point, and how his bandmates’ love lives triggered a battle with depression that he’s still facing to this day.
“When I started with *NSYNC, I was 16 years old, so I didn’t fret over being gay because I was still young, so could hide it easily,” he says. “It was when I was 19, 20 and everyone started having serious relationships that I really started feeling depression for the first time. All the guys had girlfriends and we’d get a couple of days off and [they would be with] girlfriends and I was the only one who didn’t have anyone. That’s when it started getting really scary because I was like, ‘I can’t keep this ruse up much longer.’”
“Then rumors started because I hadn’t had a girlfriend, so I would date people just for the optics of it -- so people would think of me in a certain way,” Bass continues. “Which was horrible for that person and for myself -- having a relationship built on a huge lie is a horrible thing. I thought, ‘My life sucks.’ It was like one side of my life [my career] was going great and I should be happy, but the thing that really matters -- love -- I couldn’t have.” Growing up in conservative Mississippi, Bass says he knew he was gay as young as five, but had no one to look to for guidance.
Finding fame with *NSYNC (created by late music mogul Lou Pearlman following the success of his first boy band, the Backstreet Boys) Bass kept his sexuality a secret because he feared going public would hinder the group’s success, and subsequently, his bandmates’ futures. However, hiding such a significant part of his identity tore him up inside and it’s only with hindsight that he now realizes how bad his state of mind became.
“At the time I was just a dumb teenager who didn’t know what was going on,” he says. “Looking back, I realize how lonely and sad I was. I put my entire life into my work because as long I was busy, it took my mind off [the sadness.]”
While Bass never felt so low that he contemplated ending his life, he knows all to well the feelings which lead an alarming number of LGBT youth to decide they can’t go on, and now works with organizations like The Trevor Project to help struggling teens emerge from such darkness.
His own light at the end of the tunnel came when he revealed his sexuality for the first time by sharing a kiss with the guy who would become his first boyfriend. “It was freaky because it was like, ‘Oh my gosh, now someone knows and it’s up to them to keep that secret. I can’t control that.’ It was a very overwhelming moment because I knew it was a point of no return.”
“It was during *NSYNC’s hiatus and I was still scared as I didn’t want anyone to know because I didn’t want it to affect any of the guys’ careers,” he adds. “It was a secret I was always going to take to the grave. But during that time off when I didn’t focus on work, I was able to think about my feelings, meet people and have a relationship and that’s when I started really understanding [myself.] I thought I was gay my whole life, but the older you get you’re like, ‘Well, as long as I don’t act on it, it’s fine.’ You trick yourself into thinking you can hide it, but once I kissed a guy I was like, ‘All right. I’m 100% gay and this feels right.’”
It was a few more years before Bass finally went public with his sexuality, tired of continually denying rumors and lying. However, the interview, which ran on the cover of People in 2006, had such an “insane” 24-hour turnaround that although Bass left voice messages and sent emails, he wasn’t able to connect with many of his loved ones before the issue was published, meaning some people “woke up to the news.” Several friends couldn’t forgive Bass for not confiding in them earlier, seeing the secret as a “lie” and ending their friendships.
It was a different story with his “Bye Bye Bye” bandmates -- Joey Fatone, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake.
“Joey knew way before anyone because that same first boyfriend was sitting in my lap in my office one day and Joey walked in,” Bass recalls. “Normal guys don’t just sit on other guys’ laps! I was like ‘Surprise!’ and he was like, ‘Oh please, I don’t care.’ And, the rest of the guys [took the news] fine. They were the easiest to tell. They’re my best friends … my brothers. They completely knew. So, it was not a surprise to them at all.”
With the weight of his secret lifted, Bass recalls the ecstatic feeling of walking into a gay nightclub, openly gay, for the first time. “Coming from hiding a huge part of yourself for your entire life and being so lonely about it, to ripping the Band-Aid off and being around people just like [me] was incredible,” says Bass, who met Michael Turchin a few years later and tied the knot with him in 2014. “It gave me so much hope that I was going to be really happy.” One of those clubs that Bass started frequenting was Pulse nightclub. Reflecting on the tragic shooting two years on, Bass says he panicked when he heard the devastating news. “I immediately thought I was going to know someone who was there. After frantically calling all my friends, thank god, no one I knew was hurt.”

Still, the horrific massacre hit “too close to home,” prompting Bass to begin working with the onePULSE Foundation, which provides grants to survivors and families of victims of the tragedy. The organization is hosting Tuesday's remembrance ceremony. Bass' latest efforts include partnering with Crowdrise by GoFundMe for a fundraiser running throughout June (Pride Month), where contributors have the chance to fly to Los Angeles, California, to dine at Bass’ favorite restaurant, Pump, then become his sous chef during his Facebook Live cooking series, #LanceEats at Chef'd headquarters.
“Cooking is a huge passion of mine and a lot of people don’t know that, but in my family, everything revolves around food,” explains Bass, who previously teamed up with his mom, Diane, to compete in Fox’s My Kitchen Rules. “It’s always an experience and a memory, so I wanted to do something fun, which I’m passionate about and allows me to connect with fans in a fun, unique way.”
Now’s your chance! Enter to win the ultimate LA getaway where you’ll get to cook with me on #LanceEats and hit some of my favorite culinary gems! Proceeds from this contest will go towards the @onepulseorg ahead of their two year anniversary (link to enter in bio) 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️ @chefd @crowdrise

Bass is also preparing to become a parent with Turchin, working on an upcoming YouTube Red documentary about Pearlman, and recently joined his bandmates as *NSYNC received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Blessed in ways he unlikely imagined as a struggling teen, he admits that behind the glamour, he still struggles with depression. And while these days it’s no longer concealing his sexuality that ignites low moments, he still has many of them.
“This business is what triggers me now,” he says. “It’s a horrible industry to be in because 99% of everything you do is a failure and you’re told, ‘No,’ all the time. It’s very rare you get to celebrate huge successes. You have to be a strong person and let things roll off your shoulders, which is really hard.”
“People always see the best parts and it looks like a fabulous life, but I’m human and I go through all of it, from happiness to depression,” he continues. “I’ve had depression for a long time and I still have bouts of it, for sure. It’s in my makeup. I get days where I feel like nothing’s right, then I have to go, ‘Wait a minute,’ and start thinking about all the good things in my life. That’s how I turn it around.”

Workouts were on the brain of Hollywood's elite as well.
Jordana Brewster enjoyed a day at the horse stable with her family in Los Angeles last week, where she exclusively revealed her favorite go-to beauty trends to ET. "I love Fascia massages. They really get deep into your muscles, even more than a deep tissue massage. This massage really helps stretch your muscles when you are tight and extra sore," the 38-year-old actress, who works out six days a week, explained. “I am also loving dry brushing because it really gets your circulation and lymphatic system going." The Lethal Weapon star also revealed that "allergies are a challenge all year round" for her.  "Whether I’m heading to the Farmers Market with my kids or trying to exercise outdoors, my runny nose and watery eyes can be really disruptive, but, thankfully, I take ZYRTEC to give me consistent allergy relief," she added.

The Biggest 'Grey's Anatomy' Cast Exits
Grey's Anatomy has had its fair share of goodbyes.
As the 14th season winds down, ABC's long-running medical drama has gone through significant cast changes in front of the camera and its fair share of on-set drama and scandals. While Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. are the only remaining members of the original ensemble who have been with the show since its March 2005 debut, many of their colleagues have come and gone -- some in tragic fashion and others with hopeful beginnings.
With Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw's exits looming ahead of the 15th season, there promises to be even more transitions for the veteran series. From T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl to Sara Ramirez and Patrick Dempsey, ET chronicles the history of Grey's' biggest and most dramatic cast exits over the past 14 seasons.
Dr. Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington)
Tumblr media
ABC
Washington was one of the original doctors on Grey's when it debuted in 2005. He was fired in 2007 after the third season, following an incident where Washington allegedly used a gay slur in reference to T.R. Knight during an on-set argument and clashed with other co-stars. The actor eventually returned to Grey's for a 2014 episode to help kick off Sandra Oh's exit.
Dr. George O'Malley (T.R. Knight)
Tumblr media
ABC
Knight was the first major cast departure for Grey's, leaving in tragic yet heroic fashion at the end of season five. In his final episodes, his beloved character, George, ran in front of a bus in an effort to save a woman but was hit himself -- still one of TV's most shocking moments -- resulting in being completely unrecognizable to the doctors when he was rushed in. He would later die from his injuries, which became the topic of early season six, as his former colleagues mourned his death and attended his funeral. One of the original interns on Grey's, George was a puppy-eyed doctor whose close friendship with Meredith, fumbling romances with Izzie and Callie and adversarial dynamic with Alex made him even more relatable to viewers.
Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan)
Tumblr media
ABC
While Morgan only appeared in about two dozen episodes, he remains one of Grey's most memorable characters, playing Denny, a patient-turned-love interest for Izzie in the second and third seasons. Though the heart transplant Denny came in for was successful, he died suddenly after a stroke -- but not until after he'd proposed to Izzie and she'd accepted. Later, Izzie used the money he left her to open up the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic. In season five, Morgan returned for a new arc when Izzie began hallucinating Denny around the time she discovered she was diagnosed with cancer.
Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl)
Tumblr media
ABC
One of the original Grey's stars, Heigl left midway through season six after playing the bubbly, upbeat intern-turned-surgical resident Izzie for over 100 episodes. In her final episode, Heigl's character discovered she was cancer-free, attempted to reconcile with her ex, Alex, and turned down an offer to get her job back after getting fired, opting to move on for a fresh start. Heigl, who won the Emmy for her Grey's role in 2007, memorably took her name out of consideration in 2008 because she didn't feel she "was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination," a reference to her reduced workload that year.
Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh)
Tumblr media
ABC
Addison's introduction on Grey's at the end of the first season is still one of the most memorable moments of the series. Still, she left after season three after deciding to have a baby and visiting her friend Naomi, a fertility specialist in California at Oceanside Wellness Group, making the move to the Golden State permanent. Walsh's spinoff, Private Practice, debuted in the fall of 2007 and ran for six seasons, but she would pop back in and out on Grey's through its eighth season.
Dr. Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh)
Tumblr media
ABC
Meredith's half-sister Lexie entered the picture in season three as part of that year's new class of interns, but became an integral part of the fabric of the series when she was upped to series regular at the start of season four. She became romantically involved with Mark in an on-again/off-again romance, and the two eventually reunited not long before they were both victims of a horrific plane crash at the end of season eight, during which she was the first to die. "My experience on Grey’s Anatomy is something that I will treasure for the rest of my life. I want to take this time to say thank you to the fans," Leigh told TVLine. "Your unconditional love and support have made these last five years very special for me. I look forward to my next chapter and I hope you will continue to follow me on my journey.
Dr. Mark Sloan (Eric Dane)
Tumblr media
ABC
The "McSteamy" to Patrick Dempsey's "McDreamy," Dane joined the ABC drama as a recurring guest star in the sophomore season before being promoted to series regular in season three, and his character, Mark, was immediately dubbed the ladies' man of the hospital. His presence at the hospital caused more wrinkles than it stabilized the staff, with spicy affairs with Derek's estranged wife Addison, Callie and Lexie -- the latter a relationship he grew to embrace. Dane was written off in dramatic fashion; after Lexie's death following the eighth season finale plane crash, Mark succumbed to his injuries.
Dr. Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh)
Tumblr media
ABC
Oh was one of the original cast members on Grey's when it debuted in 2005 and was on the show for 10 seasons until she left in 2014, when Cristina made the leap to relocate and start anew in Zurich. As Meredith's "person," Owen's on-again/off-again love and a star surgeon, Oh's character was one of the most beloved of the series and speculation of a potential return has permeated ever since her departure. "I've gotta tell you, those rumors, I don't know who starts them but it really is tough," Oh admitted to ET Canada in 2016. "No, I have no plans to return to Grey's any time soon." But Oh did say in a 2014 interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she'd be game to return for the series finale.
Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey)
Tumblr media
ABC
Dempsey's exit in season 11 was one of the most shocking moments in the history of Grey's, as his character, also known as "McDreamy," was one-half of the main couple on the series alongside Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey. In his final episode, Derek was rushed to the ER after a large semi truck struck his car and the team of under-trained doctors were unable to save him in time, forcing Meredith to pull the plug. “Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character -- for Meredith, for me and for the fans. I absolutely never imagined saying goodbye to our 'McDreamy.' Patrick Dempsey’s performance shaped Derek in a way that I know we both hope became a meaningful example -- happy, sad, romantic, painful and always true -- of what young women should demand from modern love,” creator Shonda Rhimes said in April 2015. “His loss will be felt by all.”
Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez)
Tumblr media
ABC
Ramirez announced her decision to leave the show after 10 seasons of playing one of TV's groundbreaking bisexual characters following the season 12 finale. In Ramirez's final episode, she and her ex, Arizona, agreed that they would co-parent their daughter together. “I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey’s Anatomy & ABC but for now, I’m taking some welcome time off,” Ramirez wrote in her note in 2016. “Shonda been so incredible to work for, & we will definitely continue our conversations!”
Dr. Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton)
Tumblr media
ABC
Hinton joined the medical drama in its ninth season, staying on for five seasons as Stephanie, one of Grey Sloan's surgical residents, and leaving at the end of the season 13 finale after suffering devastating burns following a fiery explosion in one of the hospital wings. Her near-death experience was enough for Stephanie to change course, and she made a declaration that she wanted to live her own life now. Hinton revealed to ET in February that she pitched a version of Stephanie's final episode where she died. "My heart grows to think that I did get a hero's end -- that I got to go out in a way that was not just incredibly human and honest, but also inspirational."
Dr. Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson)
Tumblr media
ABC
Though Henderson's time as Riggs on Grey's was relatively brief -- he joined midway through the 12th season and left early on in season 14 -- he made his time on the series count. An Army doctor who had a friendship and deep history with fellow Grey Sloan doc Owen, he grew to become Meredith's main love interest following Patrick Dempsey's departure, but Riggs and Meredith's romance was cut short when he was reunited with his former love, Owen's previously presumed dead sister, Megan. In the end, the pair decided to move to Los Angeles together.
Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew)
Tumblr media
ABC
Drew, who has played April since season six, was written out of the show at the end of season 14 and she got her happy ending, walking down the aisle in a surprise wedding with an old flame, Matthew, with her ex-husband Jackson witness to the happy day. She also decided to leave Grey Sloan to do God's work, helping homeless communities in Seattle. But there was some worry that she wouldn't survive the season. Things weren't looking good for the devout Christian doctor in the penultimate episode as she was seen unconscious and barely clinging to life after being in a car accident. Thankfully, she made it out with barely a scratch. Whew. Ellen Pompeo hinted to ET in May that Drew's character would not meet a horrific end -- and thankfully, she was right. "You only get killed off when your behavior is bad. If you're a nice actor, you die nice. ... But, yeah, these endings aren't tragic."
Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw)
Tumblr media
ABC
In the penultimate season 14 episode, details of Capshaw's departure from Grey's were revealed: She was moving to New York City to be closer to the daughter she shares with her ex, Callie, and helping Nicole Herman open up a new clinic. In the finale, it was hinted that she and Callie may also be rekindling their romance. The announcement in March that she would be leaving after playing one of TV's few LGBTQ characters for 10 seasons was a shock to the system for fans. "I am sad to see her go, but I am consoled by the idea that she will continue to live on and on in all of our consciences and our imaginations," Capshaw wrote at the time.
Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

Taylor Swift vs. Katy Perry: The Complete Timeline of Their Feud
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry's pop star feud just keeps on giving!
Over the past few years, these famous frenemies have seemingly used their beef as songwriting material, addressed their differences in interviews and have gotten their squads involved.
Here's a look back at how the feuding first began and how it's progressed:

Prior to Swift's revealing Rolling Stone tell-all, Perry and Swift appeared to be friends, gamely posing at awards shows together.
But Swift had everyone talking ahead of the release of her GRAMMY-winning 1989 album, thanks to her quotes to Rolling Stone magazine, in which she revealed that she had a feud with a fellow pop star, which inspired her hit song, "Bad Blood."
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," Swift said. "She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'"
"She did something so horrible," she continued. "I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”
Several internet commenters then noted that Perry did lure a few backup dancers away from Swift's tour as she embarked on her own Prismatic tour in 2014. However, according to one of the dancer's agents, the dancers "exercised a 30-day out in their contracts and left Taylor, but Katy didn't steal them."
"They just didn't want to tour with her anymore because there is basically no choreography or dancing in her show," the agent claimed.
While Swift did say that the feud had nothing to do with a boy, both previously dated singer John Mayer.
Sept. 9, 2014: Katy Perry Calls Swift a 'Mean Girl'
Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing...
— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) September 9, 2014
Perry didn't shy away from Swift's Rolling Stone comments, tweeting the next day: "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..."
In January 2015, Perry confirmed the tweet was pointed at Swift.
"If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it," Perry told Billboard magazine when asked if her tweet was about the "Shake It Off" singer.
May 23, 2015: Taylor Swift Will Never, Ever Talk About Katy Perry Again
In an interview with The Telegraph, Swift made it clear she was over Perry. "I'm not giving them anything to write about," she said when asked about about her nemesis. "I'm never going to talk about her in my interview. It's not going to happen."
Swift did, however, confirm she had her "enemies" in the business. "It's not real if someone appears to never have any issues with anyone," she explained. "I have my friends. I have enemies."
July 22, 2015: Katy Perry Hits Back at Taylor Swift Amid Her Nicki Minaj Beef
Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman...
— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) July 22, 2015
The pop star feud was resurrected when Perry jumped in on the Twitter beef between Swift and Nicki Minaj over the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards nominees.
"If I was a different 'kind' of artist, 'Anaconda' would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well," Minaj tweeted, getting vocal about her VMA snub. “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year."
Swift took the tweet personally, responding, “I've done nothing but love and support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other.”
Perry then chimed in with a devastating tweet referencing "Bad Blood."
"Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman..." she wrote.
July 27, 2015: Taylor Swift Throws 'Left Shark' Shade at Katy Perry

— Jillian ❤🎤🎧 (@Swifty448) July 26, 2015
Swift appeared to be back at it again later that month, seemingly trolling Perry during her Foxborough, Massachusetts, stop as part of her 1989 world tour. Her performance of "Bad Blood" curiously featured a cameo from a life-sized shark mascot -- a not-so-thinly veiled dig at Perry's Super Bowl dancer-turned-internet meme.

Time, the ultimate truth teller.
— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) May 9, 2015
Swift's ex-boyfriend, Calvin Harris, brought up Swift and Perry's bad blood when he slammed the singer on Twitter. Harris was upset after Swift's rep confirmed that the singer wrote his and Rihanna's summer hit, "This Is What You Came For," under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg -- when the two were still a couple -- and after Swift began dating actor Tom Hiddleston, who she broke up with that same year.
"Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though," he tweeted, after initially praising Swift. "I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do."
"I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it," he continued.
Perry later tweeted out a GIF of Hillary Clinton shooting out an epic "I told you so"-look shortly afterward.
Adding more fuel to the fire, Perry then retweeted her own tweet from May 2015, where she wrote, "Time, the ultimate truth teller."
Sept. 10, 2016:  Katy Perry Would Collaborate With Taylor Swift Under One Condition
if she says sorry, sure!
— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) September 10, 2016
Perry was looking for an apology after a fan asked her on Twitter: "Will you ever collab with Taylor Swift?"
She surprisingly tweeted back: "If she says sorry, sure!"
Oct. 26, 2016: Katy Perry Rocks Out to Kanye West's 'Famous' Taylor Swift Diss
Perry once again rekindled the pop star feud while celebrating her 32nd birthday at Kanye West's concert in Inglewood, California. She even shared a video of herself dancing along to the rapper's now infamous Swift diss in "Famous."
May 20, 2017: Katy Perry Calls "Swish, Swish" an 'Anthem' Against Bullying
Though Perry never mentions Swift in her song, "Swish, Swish," the track is clearly slamming somebody, and of course, fans couldn't help but notice that that "swish" isn't so far off from Swift.
"From a selfish or a sheep/ Don't you come for me/ No, not today/ You're calculated/ I got your number," Perry sings. "'Cause you're a joker/ And I'm a courtside killer queen/ And you will kiss the ring/ You best believe."
"So keep calm, honey, I'ma stick around/ For more than a minute, get used to it," she continues. "Funny my name keeps comin' outcho mouth/ 'Cause I stay winning."
"I think it's a great anthem for people to use whenever someone's trying to hold you down or bully you," Perry told Jimmy Fallon about the song during her appearance on The Tonight Show. "That's kind of what this record is about. It's just like [a] 360-degree liberation. ... I think 'Swish' represents the liberation from all the negative that doesn’t serve you."
Of course, some of Swift's pals definitely didn't see it that way. Ruby Rose took to Twitter to defend Swift and slammed Perry, writing: "Purposeful poop" to 'bomb a petit' to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda..stop trying to make 'Wit..I mean 'fetch' happen."
"I've always stood up for the people I love and against things I think are cheap or mean spirited. That's not new. You have to follow your ❤," the actress continued. "I just think with everything going on in the world to go from rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low.. is.. a bummer."
May 22, 2017:  Katy Perry Claims Taylor Swift 'Started' Their Feud and 'It's Time for Her to Finish It'
Perry didn't hold back during her Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden, addressing the beef head-on.
"Honestly, it's really like she started it and it's time for her to finish it," Perry said after the Late Late Show host asked her to clear things up. "She wouldn't speak to me. I do the right thing any time that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shut-down and then she writes a song about me and I'm like, 'OK, cool, cool, cool. That's how you wanna deal with it?'"
"But, what I wanna say is that I'm ready for that B.S. to be done," she added. "Now, there is the law of cause and effect. You do something and there's going to be a reaction. And trust me, Daddy, there's going to be a reaction. It's all about karma."
It should be noted that "Swish Swish," coincidentally, has a line about karma, where Perry croons, "Karma's not a liar."
June 8, 2017: Katy Perry Slams Taylor Swift for 'Trying to Assassinate' Her Character
Perry wasn't quite done talking about Swift. In an interview with NME, she gave background on why she decided to address the feud with Corden.
“I mean, I’m not Buddha -- things irritate me,” she said. “I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I’m also not a pushover, you know? Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girls [her fans]. That’s so messed up!”
June 8, 2017: Taylor Swift Puts Entire Song Catalog Back on Streaming Services -- Right When Katy Perry's Album Drops
Actions speak louder than words. Though Swift has stayed silent on Perry's comments about her, she announced on June 8, 2017 that her entire song catalog would return to all streaming services at midnight -- just when Perry's Witness album dropped.
Perry was later asked about whether the move bothered her during an interview with the Today show's Natalie Morales. "I don't know, I can only do me," Perry replied. "All I need to say to her is I love her, and God bless her on her journey. And that’s it."
June 10, 2017: Katy Perry Is '100 percent' Ready to 'Let Go' of Feud
Perry made it clear that she was ready to make amends with Swift during a conversation with Arianna Huffington, which was live streamed to promote Witness.
"I'm ready to let it go. Absolutely, 100 percent," Perry said of the longtime beef. "I forgive her, and I'm sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her, and I think it's actually... I think it's time."
"There are bigger fish to fry, and there are bigger problems in the world," she continued. "I love her and I want the best for her, and I think she's a fantastic songwriter, and like, I think that if we both, her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go, like, 'Yeah, we can do this.' Maybe I don't agree with everything she does, and maybe she doesn't agree with everything I do, but like, I just... I really, truly, want to come together, and in a place of love and forgiveness, and understanding and compassion."
June 12, 2017: Katy Perry Changes a Key 'Swish, Swish' Lyric
Perry backed up her conciliatory quotes by pointedly changing a few lyrics while singing "Swish Swish" during an outdoor concert for her fans. Instead of singing the line, "Don't you come for me," in the first verse, Perry sang, "God bless you on your journey, oh baby girl."
July 19, 2017: Katy Perry Says She's 'Always Loved' Taylor Swift Despite Their 'Differences'
Perry wasn't done trying to make nice with Swift.
In an interview on Australia's Today show, Perry reiterated that she had love for the singer. "I mean, I love her, I always have," Perry told host Richard Wilkins. "We've had our differences, but I just continue to say, 'God bless her on her journey.'"
While Swift never acknowledged Perry's compliments, Twitter was abuzz that the ladies would finally put their beef behind them at the VMAs. After all, Swift did so with West at the 2015 VMAs when she presented the Video Vanguard award to the rapper, and when she jumped onstage to open the show with Minaj after their Twitter feud that same year.
However, Swift did not end up attending the 2017 VMAs.
August 24, 2017: Katy Perry Releases Star-Studded "Swish, Swish" Music Video
youtube
Like Swift's "Bad Blood" music video, Perry enlisted a bunch of celebrities to star in the music video for her single, "Swish, Swish," her diss track widely speculated to be about her frenemy. The release was ahead of Swift dropping her first single, "Look What You Made Me Do," off her album, Reputation.
August 24, 2017: Taylor Swift Releases Shady "Look What You Made Me Do" Music Video
youtube
While Perry hosted the VMAs, it was Swift that got people talking with her shade-tastic music video for "LWYMMD."
Main moments of shade include Swift made up in a way that could be described as “Katy Perry-esque” and wrecking a car (complete with a Katy-cat in the front seat).
March 17, 2018: Karlie Kloss Addresses Taylor Swift Feud Rumors After Hanging Out With Katy Perry
The model-turned-tech philanthropist was longtime friends with Swift, and opened up to The New York Times after fans started speculating that she was now Team Katy. After all, the girls was spotted hanging out together a month prior.
"Don't believe everything you read," Kloss said simply.
March 18, 2018: Katy Perry Subtly Shades Taylor Swift on 'American Idol'
The feud continues! @katyperry throws SHADE on @taylorswift13 on @AmericanIdol#AmericanIdolpic.twitter.com/IBut9mAkhn
— TalentRecap (@TalentRecap) March 19, 2018
During a montage segment of Idol hopefuls auditioning for the panel, Perry's fellow judge, Luke Bryan, asked one scruffy, guitar-carrying singer, who he looks up to as a musical artist. "I'm sorry for this Katy… Taylor Swift," the hopeful answered nervously.
"Oh, you don't have to be sorry," Perry replied.
"I love Taylor Swift," the contestant added, emphatically.
"I love her, as a songwriter, as well," Perry stuttered, before shrugging indifferently.
Will these two ever make amends? Here's more on the feud:
May 8, 2018: Katy Perry Sends Taylor Swift a Literal Olive Branch:
It appears the feud is finally over. Swift shared a video of an olive branch and a note from Perry on her Instagram Stories on May 8, one night before her Reputation tour kicked off. The note is addressed "Hey Old Friend," and a closer look at the handwriting shows that Perry apologized to Swift.
"Hey old friend, I've been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and the feelings between us, I really want to clear the air," the note reads.
Swift was clearly pleased by the gesture.
"So, I just got back to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch," she says in the video. "This means so much to me."
"Thank you Katy," the text on the video also reads, along with pink heart emojis.

— Taylor Swift Updates (@TSwiftPR) May 8, 2018
A source told ET that Perry gave her apology to the "Gorgeous" singer a lot of thought before sending it, and has been wanting to bury the hatchet for a while now.
“Katy planned a very personal, sweet apology and took time to write a kind note in hopes Taylor would see how much she cared about putting this behind them,” the source said. “Katy told friends if Taylor didn't accept this apology, she would keep trying because she is done holding on to the past and wants to be part of the change in today's society. She wants to set a good example for women, so she planned to never give up, if that is what it took."
“Katy hopes they finally can be supportive of each other's music and maybe one day soon even hang out together again," the source added. "Katy realizes they need to take it one day at a time, but that this is a great start.”

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem Received Equal Pay for Their Film 'Everybody Knows'
Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are equals in their household.
The couple premiered their latest film, Everybody Knows, at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday, where Cruz revealed that she and her husband received the same salary for their work on the movie.
"Actually, yes," she said when asked about receiving equal pay, breaking out a smile, according to Variety.
The spouses have worked on several films together since co-starring in 1992's Jamon Jamon -- and Cruz said that their private relationship helps their working one.

"We don't take the characters home at the end of the day. We have similar ways of work. The fact that we know each other and trust each other helps," Cruz said, according to the outlet, noting that fans shouldn't expect them to exclusively work together. "That will be once in a while, if we feel it's right. I don't think it will be too often."
The 45-year-old actress also opened up about how her acting style has evolved. "When I was in my 20s, I thought the more I would torture myself and the more I would stay in character for months, the better the result would be," she recalled. "I learned it's not really related to that. I have a life and I have a job. That allows me to jump from reality to fiction."
Cruz and Bardem also co-star in Loving Pablo, in which he plays Pablo Escober and she plays his mistress, Virginia Vallejo. Watch below.

20 Outrageous Looks That Prove the Met Gala Is the Only Fashion Event That Matters
Which red carpet is your favorite?
If you said the Academy Awards or MTV Video Music Awards, that's cute, but you're wrong. Your favorite red carpet is the Met Gala, because it's the only red carpet that matters. It's an occasion to see stars wearing ensembles they could never get away with at any other awards show or black-tie event -- for better or worse.
As we prepare for this year's event -- and all the looks inspired by the theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination," look back on 20 of the most outrageous fashion choices that could only happen at the Met Gala.

2018 Tribeca Film Festival Puts Focus on Women in Time’s Up Era
In the wake of the Time’s Up movement, which aims to eliminate the imbalance of power in the workforce and bring gender parity behind the camera, the Tribeca Film Festival becomes the first major film festival to pro-actively attempt to balance its representation; an effort championed by festival co-founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal and EVP of Tribeca Enterprises Paula Weinstein. Of the feature films presented this year, nearly half are directed by women -- 46 percent of the 96 titles -- the highest percentage in the festival’s history. Among them are Oscar-nominated Amy Ziering (The Bleeding Edge), Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan making her directorial debut (The Party's Just Beginning), festival opener Lisa D’Apolito (Love, Gilda), documentarian Madeleine Sackler with her first scripted feature (O.G.) and Susanna White (Woman Walks Ahead starring Jessica Chastain).
Of the filmmakers participating in the Tribeca Talks: Directors Series, three of the five slots belong to Lesli Linka Glatter, Laura Poitras and Nancy Meyers, with the Tribeca Talks: The Journey making its debut with a conversation with Sarah Jessica Parker, who stars in the Tribeca world premiere of Blue Night, about her career both on and off-screen.
Perhaps the most direct connection to the Time’s Up movement is the legal defense fund and the festival’s inaugural New York event: a day of conversations with women raising awareness about inequality in the workplace. “While you will see some of the leaders of the movement -- Ashley Judd and Julianne Moore -- you’re also going to have conversations about the farm workers, what's going on in legal aid, what goes on with human resources,” Rosenthal tells ET. “So, it's really a day that will hit more than just the entertainment business.”
Of course, the draw is the films and TV shows being presented -- and female-centric narratives are among the highlights ET previewed ahead of the festival, including a documentary that examines Barbie’s place in a modern era (Tiny Shoulders: Rethinking Barbie); scripted stories about a woman reigniting long-dormant passions after returning to the Orthodox Jewish community where she grew up (Disobedience with Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams), estranged sisters driven to extremes when their mother dies (Little Woods starring Tessa Thompson and Lily James) and a girl forced to attend gay conversion therapy (The Miseducation of Cameron Post starring Chloe Grace Moretz).
Here is ET’s selection of the must-see films and TV pilots at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival, which runs April 18 to April 29 in New York City:
The American Meme
This intriguing new documentary takes a deeper look at what it’s like to be a viral sensation -- and the darker side to internet fame. Paris Hilton, Brittany Furlan, DJ Khaled and more are featured in the film, offering unique perspectives on their relationship with social media, fandom and the many ups and downs of celebrity. (Directed by Bert Marcus; April 27)
All About Nina
Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays an aspiring standup comedian, who ditches her abusive boyfriend (Chace Crawford) for Los Angeles. Winstead’s performance recalls her work in Smashed as her hard-drinking character navigates the pitfalls of making it big and the notion of love, thanks to an all-too-patient suitor played by Common. (Written and directed by Eva Vives; April 22)
All These Small Moments
In this heartwarming coming-of-age tale, Howie (Brendan Meyer) navigates the pangs of adolescence and his parents’ (Molly Ringwald and Brian d’Arcy James) crumbling marriage. The only thing keeping him going is the mysterious presence of Odessa (a radiant Jemima Kirke, also in Untogether with Jamie Dornan). (Written and directed by Melissa Miller Costanzo; April 24)
Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable
After losing her left arm in a shark attack, Bethany Hamilton got back on the board and took the surfing world by storm. Soon, she was winning ESPYs and Teen Choice Awards and sharing the screen with Carrie Underwood in Soul Surfer and competing on The Amazing Race. Now, she’s tackling motherhood as she looks at what’s next in her career. (Directed by Aaron Lieber; April 20)
Disobedience

Songwriter provides an intimate inside look into the creation of the hit album, Divide, while giving fans a rare look at archival footage of Sheeran’s childhood and glimpses of Sheeran’s romance with Cherry Seaborn. (Directed by Murray Cummings; April 23)
Stockholm
The absurd true story of a bank robbery not going quite as planned when a group of bank clerks insisted on defending the thief who had taken them hostage is the subject of Stockholm starring an eccentric Ethan Hawke and Noomi Rapace, who shines in a rare non-sci-fi role. (Written and directed by Robert Budreau; April 19)
This Is Climate Change
The four-part virtual reality series will take audiences inside impacted parts of the world through an immersive, 360-degree view. Following the Sundance Film Festival premiere of “Melting Ice,” an episode featuring Al Gore, the remaining three parts -- “Famine,” “Feast” and “Fire” -- will make their debut here. The film, featuring interviews with Gloria Steinem, Roxane Gay and more, premieres at Tribeca before streaming on Hulu. (Directed by Andrea Nevins; April 25)
We the Animals
Based on the lyrical, coming-of-age novel of the same name by Justin Torres, We the Animals tells the story of three brothers living with their troubled parents in an economically-depressed part of upstate New York. The magical realism blends together elements of Beasts of a Southern Wild with the same kind of grounded reality of Moonlight. (Directed by Jeremiah Zagar; April 22)
Woman Walks Ahead
Jessica Chastain portrays activist and artist Catherine Weldon, who retreats to North Dakota after the death of her mother to paint a portrait of Sioux chief Sitting Bull, in this cinematic real-life tale about a woman defying the odds in the Old West. Jessica Simpson, Khloe & Kim Kardashian and More Celebs Share Sweet Mother's Day Posts
Happy Mother's Day!
Moms across the country received sweet messages of appreciation on Sunday, including many celebrity mothers -- and mothers of celebrities -- who shared some of their family's heartwarming tributes to social media.
Jessica Simpson's kids, 6-year-old daughter Maxwell and 4-year-old son Ace, presented mom with literal sweetness in the form of colorfully glazed donuts shaped to read, "We love you mom! Maxi + Ace." The presentation was topped off with two pink flower donuts with middles that read, "Happy Mother's Day."
"My kiddos know the way to Mommy’s heart," the 37-year-old fashion designer captioned a pic of the adorable gesture.

Mother's Day is a little more somber for Kevin Hart, whose mom, Nancy, died in 2007. The 38-year-old comedian tweeted, "I love & miss you so much Nancy Hart. Happy mother's day mom RIP."

'Dancing With the Stars': Meryl Davis, Nastia Liukin & Von Miller Returning to Ballroom as Mentors (Exclusive)
If you've been a longtime fan of Dancing With the Stars, you're going to love what's in store this week!
ET can exclusively reveal that Von Miller (season 22), Meryl Davis (season 18) and Nastia Liukin (season 20) will be returning to the ballroom next Monday, serving as mentors to the remaining six contestants vying for the mirrorball trophy on the shortened, all-athlete season of the dance competition show.
Meryl will mentor fellow Olympic figure skaters Mirai Nigasu and Adam Rippon, while Nastia will help Tonya Harding and Olympic softball pitcher Jennie Finch. Meanwhile, Von will mentor fellow NFL star Josh Norman and Olympic ice luger Chris Mazdzer.
ET spoke with Von, Meryl and Nastia exclusively on Thursday, where they shared their excitement about being back in the ballroom, the advice they've been giving their mentees and what fans can expect from the semi-finals. Read our full Q&A below.
Tumblr media
Dancing With the Stars
ET: Welcome back to the ballroom! How excited are you to return? Meryl Davis: Ahh, I'm so excited to be back and it feels good reconnecting with everyone! It's been so much fun. I just love everyone that's a part of this show. Von Miller: I'm super excited to be back on DWTS. It was an unbelievable experience and to relive those moments is magical. I immediately said yes [when asked] -- I couldn't wait to get back on the floor and in the ballroom. Nastia Liukin: I also immediately said yes. I realized I had to switch around my travel schedule and a few other planned events, but I wouldn't have missed this opportunity for the world. I absolutely love this show.
When did you first hear from ABC that you'd be returning as a mentor for week three, and how stoked were you when you found out who you'd be mentoring?
Meryl: It all came about really quickly, I actually only found out about a few days ago, but I'm so excited in particular to be supporting Mirai and Adam. I just think they're so incredible. Of course, when I was asked, I said yes. We're actually on tour together right now, for Stars on Ice, so we're traveling across the country together during the week. I've known them both for so long, so there was no hesitation when they asked me to do this. Von: I was excited. Me and Josh Norman are super good friends and Chris is an Olympian. Whenever you can work with athletes like that, it's great! Nastia: I actually just found out this week, so I will definitely need to brush the dust off of my dance shoes! But I'm VERY excited. I'm definitely a fan of both athletes, Tonya and Jennie, and am very good friends with their partners, so I was thrilled to hear I would be mentoring them.
Tumblr media
Dancing With the Stars
What has the mentoring process been like so far? What type of advice have you been giving your mentees?
Meryl: It's been a really fun experience for me so far. I think the best piece of advice I have given is to really soak in those moments. It goes very quickly, especially this season, so embrace it. Mirai and Adam both had such success at the Winter Olympics, and now, this is such a unique, special moment for each of them. Being able to celebrate that with America on DWTS is such a wonderful thing. Von: I've really enjoyed it. Being back on the show and in the ballroom is an incredible experience -- they are all pros! As for my advice, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so you need to live in the moment. Dial into the moment -- take advantage of it and have fun. Every week the competition gets bigger and bigger and the lights get brighter and brighter, so I expect them to show up knowing that and be ready!
With the show only being four weeks, the pressure is on. What are your thoughts on the condensed season and how intensely the athletes have to work?
Meryl: It seems like everybody came right out of the gate week one and ready to go. In a typical season, it's usually a slow and steady climb, but with only four weeks, I think it puts a little more pressure on them to put their best foot forward. In regards to the scheduling, that's definitely the most difficult part. For Mirai and Adam, they're probably in the best shapes of their lives. They're no strangers to hard work and being on their feet all day. Despite the challenges they're facing with their schedules and traveling all the time, they're pretty calm and collected. Von: It doesn't really change anything, because at the end of the day, you just have to dance. Nastia: I cannot imagine how quickly it's going by for them, because my season was 10 weeks and it just flew by. I agree that the pressure is definitely on. I mean, week two and they already had to do two dances, including a team dance! That normally doesn't come until later in the [season]. But that's what athletes are normally good at -- performing well under nerves and pressure and not being afraid to put in the hours of hard work and rehearsal time.
Meryl, we love the friendly competition Adam and Mirai have going on. They said on the show they would love to make it into the finals together. What's their friendship really like behind the scenes, and how do you plan to get them into that last week?
Meryl: I think as an athlete you learn that the stronger your competitors are, the more it inspires you to be the best version of yourself and to work harder to be even better. Mirai and Adam have been teammates for years and they've inspired each other to be their best and so, while of course they're going head-to-head in this competition, I know that they're there for each other every step of the way. They want nothing but the best for one another!
As for finale week, I think it's important to remind them that this isn't about being perfect or being a professional dancer. It's about enjoying yourself and letting people enjoy it along with you. Just enjoy the experience and it will last a lifetime!
It will be an intense third week for the athletes, as they will be dancing twice on Monday. First, they'll perform one individual dance with their pro partners as usual. Later, they'll also partake in a dance-off battle. At the end of the night, there will be a triple elimination, so the stakes are higher than ever.
Here's what they'll be dancing to for their individual performances:
Adam & Jenna Johnson Individual dance: Contemporary – "O" by Coldplay
Chris & Witney Carson Individual dance: Foxtrot – "I Got Rhythm" by Ray Chew Live
Jennie & Keo Motstepe Individual dance: Viennese Waltz – "The Rest of Our Life" by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill
Josh & Sharna Burgess Individual dance: Contemporary – "Stand by Me" by Bootstraps
Mirai & Alan Bersten Individual dance: Quickstep – "Bo$$" by Ray Chew Live
Tonya & Sasha Farber: Individual dance: Rumba – "See You Again" by Tyler Ward
Here's who will be pairing up against each other during the Dance-Off battle round:
Adam & Jenna vs. Mirai & Alan Jive, "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry
Chris & Witney vs. Josh & Sharna Salsa, "WTF (Where They From)" by Missy Elliott feat. Pharrell Williams
Tonya & Sasha vs. Jennie & Keo Cha Cha, "Dance" by DNCE
Dancing With the Stars airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

14 Movies to See in May 2018: 'Deadpool 2,' 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' and More
We are now living in a post-Avengers: Infinity War world. Marvel broke records as we returned to the theater over and over again for repeat viewings and now sit at home counting the days until we find out what the Groot happens next. (Avengers 4 opens May 3, 2019, which is almost exactly 365 days away...)
In the meantime, May sees another superhero face off against a villainous, though gauntlet-free, Josh Brolin in the Marvel-but-not-Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Deadpool 2. We'll also get a bromance origin story for Han Solo and Chewbacca, Melissa McCarthy in a new wig and a ballsy remake of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell's most beloved rom-com. (Godspeed, Overboard 2018.) This month's list of 14 Movies to See is below:
1. Overboard (May 4)
Tumblr media
Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures / Pantelion Films
1987's Overboard may be a comedy classic, but the premise -- a blue-collar guy gets revenge by conning a rich woman with amnesia into believing they're married -- has aged...problematically. The cast of the reboot says their gender-swapped version "makes more sense now." Starring: Anna Faris, Eugenio Derbez and Eva Longoria.

2. RBG (May 4)
Tumblr media
Magnolia Pictures / Magnet Releasing
In the first documentary to center on Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, directors Julie Cohen and Betsy West look both at Ginsburg's legacy within the women's movement and her newfound status as a pop culture icon. (Speaking of documentaries, let me also recommend the André Leon Talley doc, The Gospel According to André, which arrives later in the month.)
Watch the trailer:
youtube
3. Tully (May 4)
Tumblr media
Focus Features
The third installment in the Jason Reitman-Diablo Cody trilogy (following Juno and Young Adult) proves that the director and writer are perfectly suited for each other, this time unwinding a pitch black comedy-turned-something more about modern motherhood. Starring: Charlize Theron, Mackenzie Davis, Ron Livingston and Mark Duplass.
Watch the trailer:
youtube
4. Breaking In (May 11)
Tumblr media
Universal Pictures
If Breaking In is exactly what it appears to be in the trailer -- a mom brings her kids to a remote mansion, home invaders hold the kids hostage while robbing the place, thus ensues 90 minutes of Gabrielle Union being an absolute badass -- I will get everything I want out of it. Starring: Gabrielle Union, Ajiona Alexus and Billy Burke.
Watch the trailer:
youtube
5. Life of the Party (May 11)
Tumblr media
Warner Bros. Pictures
Look, real-life married couple Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone don't have a perfect track record when it comes to making movies together. (Tammy.) But we will watch McCarthy in anything. And this one has a Christina Aguilera cameo! Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Debby Ryan and Gillian Jacobs.
Watch the trailer:
youtube
6. Terminal (May 11)
Tumblr media
RLJE Films
The last film Margot Robbie produced and starred in -- I, Tonya -- got her an Oscar nomination. This one is a neo-noir thriller about assassins attempting to carry out a mission and the mysterious femme fatale they keep crossing paths with. Starring: Margot Robbie, Max Irons, Mike Myers and Simon Pegg.
Watch the trailer:
youtube
7. Book Club (May 18)
Tumblr media
Paramount Pictures
The final Fifty Shades of Grey movie (sadly? Mercifully?) opened earlier this year, but Christian Grey is still getting people hot and bothered on in this flick about four women whose lives are reignited when their book club selects E.L. James. More importantly, this cast! Starring: Candice Bergen, Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda and Mary Steenburgen.
Watch the trailer:
youtube
8. Deadpool 2 (May 18)
Tumblr media
20th Century Fox
In two months, two different Marvel superhero movies have starred Josh Brolin as the bad guy. He's far less purple here, however, playing a gun-toting mutant who travels back in time to open a can of whoop ass on the Merc with a Mouth. Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beetz, Terry Crews, Brianna Hildebrand and Rob Delaney.
Watch the trailer:
youtube
9. First Reformed (May 18)
Tumblr media
A24
First Reformed begins as a story about grief -- a reverend mourning the death of his son, who died while serving in Iraq -- but becomes something far more twisted when the minister is called on by a young woman's whose husband has committed suicide. Paul Schrader writes and directs and, thus, it has been liked to Taxi Driver. Starring: Ethan Hawke, Amanda Seyfried and Cedric the Entertainer.
Watch the trailer:

 10. On Chesil Beach (May 18)
Tumblr media
Bleecker Street
Saoirse Ronan's last Academy Award nomination was for Lady Bird, but her first post-Lady Bird role is a return to the writing of author Ian McEwan, whose novel Atonement begat Ronan's first Oscar nomination. This collaboration concerns the wedding night of a young married couple. Starring: Saoirse Ronan and Billy Howle.

12. How to Talk to Girls at Parties (May 25)
Tumblr media
A24
This is one of two movies Elle Fanning stars in this month -- the other is the Frankenstein period drama, Mary Shelley -- and one of countless Neil Gaiman stories currently making their way to your screen. It's got punk rock music, an alien invasion and Nicole Kidman's latest wig. Starring: Elle Fanning, Alex Sharp, Ruth Wilson and Nicole Kidman.
Watch the trailer:

12. Ibiza (May 25 on Netflix)
Tumblr media
Netflix
Netflix will stream an s-load of new content this month -- like the sci-fi drama Anon and zombie apoco-flick Cargo -- but make sure Ibiza doesn't get lost in your queue. The plot is simple enough -- a 20-something falls for a DJ and follows him to Ibiza -- and leads to oodles of full-on LOLs. Starring: Gillian Jacobs, Vanessa Bayer, Phoebe Robinson and Richard Madden.
Watch the trailer:

13. Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25)
Tumblr media
Lucasfilm Ltd.
Come for Han, stay for Chewie, come back for the Lando Calrissian spinoff this will hopefully greenlight. Even knowing all that went down in the galaxy not-so-far, far away while this was being shot, each look at Han's origin story has gotten us more and more excited. Please be good! Starring: Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson.
Watch the trailer:

14. The Tale (May 26 on HBO)
Tumblr media
HBO
The Tale isn't so much an adaptation as it is a memoir told on film. Documentarian Jennifer Fox helms the drama, in which Laura Dern plays a documentarian named Jennifer Fox who uncovers a short story written by her 13-year-old self and begins to unravel her childhood trauma. Starring: Laura Dern, Ellen Burstyn, Elizabeth Debicki and Jason Ritter.

The couple is celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, and a source tells ET that, a decade later, the "'03 Bonnie & Clyde" powerhouse duo is doing better than ever.
"Beyoncé and JAY-Z went through a rough patch, like most couples do, but they have worked past that and are doing great," the source said, referring to the marital troubles and cheating allegations they seemingly addressed on their albums, Lemonade and 4:44, respectively. "The couple worked very hard to get past their issues, and realized they are better together than apart."
The two have been a couple since 2002, after they collaborated on JAY-Z's "'03 Bonnie & Clyde," off his seventh album, The Blueprint 2: The Gift & the Curse. They said "I do" on April 4, 2008, and now share three kids -- 6-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and 9-month-old twins Sir and Rumi.
Lately, life for Bey and Jay has been all about family. And despite their upcoming, very busy music schedules, which includes Beyoncé's headlining set at Coachella later this month and their mutual On the Run II tour, they don't plan on changing that anytime soon.
"Beyoncé and JAY-Z recently went to Jamaica to work on a project together, and [to] spend some quality time with one another. Beyoncé has been rehearsing a lot for Coachella and, after that, the couple has to prepare for their tour that starts in a couple months," the source explained. "Although they work non-stop, their main priority is their children. They have made plans to have the kids around as much as they can when they are touring."
"It's going to be a family affair, when it can be," the source added. "Expect some really amazing things to come from the power couple this year."
An additional source told ET last month that the parents of three splurge on 24/7 care for their kids, and already have a handful of superstar helpers on staff to assist them with their children during the tour. "Blue Ivy and the twins have a team of nannies working for them," the source said. "They have people around the clock."

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Royal Wedding: A Look Back at Past Carriage Processions!
We're just three months away from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding!
Fans of the couple have been patiently awaiting to hear new details about their special day, and early Monday, Kensington Palace revealed when, how and where all the different festivities will go down.
We learned that following the wedding service, which kicks off at 12 p.m. GMT at St. George's Chapel in Windsor, England, the then-newlyweds will take a carriage procession from the chapel along the High Street and through Windsor Town before returning to Windsor Castle. "They hope this short journey will provide an opportunity for more people to come together around Windsor and enjoy the atmosphere of this special day," Kensington Palace said in the statement.
The regal carriage procession in celebration of marriage has actually been done by plenty of members of the royal family in the past. We've rounded up a few of the most memorable ones!

On November 20, 1947, the two wed at Westminster Abbey. The queen later showed off her wedding gown, which was designed by Norman Hartnell, as they took a carriage around town before heading to Buckingham Palace for the reception.

The late royal wed the 1st Earl of Snowdon, also deceased, on May 6, 1960 at Westminster Abbey, marking the first royal wedding to be broadcast on television. Princess Margaret seemingly took a cute from her sister, also opting for a wedding dress designed by Norman Hartnell. However, she ultimately called it quits from Armstrong-Jones in 1978, the same year he remarried to Lucy Mary Lindsay-Hogg.

The Duke and Duchess of York tied the knot on July 23, 1986 at Westminster Abbey, following the wedding service with a carriage procession. They later separated in March 1992, and officially divorced on May 30, 1996.
