#mermay2021 something a wee bit mermaid inspired because I miss the outdoors, I miss the beach, even though I am not a big fan of the summer heat, I do adore the ocean. One of the most memorable tips my favourite watercolor artists @spmlaw when it comes to #watercolorpainting is that skin is never one fleshy color. Skin colors come in diverse tones, tints, and hues, and understanding the warm and cool undertones of skin can help achieve a very beautiful effect, especially in painting portraits. Always consider undertones. Look up references. Check your own skin, look at the color of the veins. Real life is always the best reference Disclaimer: I am by no means a wc expert, but I have consistently applied this principle in my main medium (digital art) by determining a warm or cool base color. My words are poison. This piece has been sitting in my drawers for a while now. I can't recall what I was thinking when I first painted this, but I do remember the feeling. I am not sure if I have ever told you guys before, but most of the personal artworks that I do are often a product of very intense feelings. I don't share most of them because while they may look good to the untrained eye, my feelings during the time they were painted were often bitter and full of resentment. My art is often motivated by very intense feelings, and I am ashamed to say most of them are often a product of negative emotion instead of positive ones.
