Professors and Mental Health Response
TLDR on the bottom. TW for ablelist peers and mentions of mental health issues.
So, this semester I have a group project. It's my final class before I graduate in May this year. My group leader started to act ablelist towards me- calling my mental health issues and emergency surgery and PTSD and post-op depression "personal problems" even though I had letters from my Psychiatrist written to my professor to explain that I am struggling with day-to-day life so to excuse late assignments. My group leader criticized me for doing a "bad job" on a report I was expected to turn in Monday and said I was "sassing" her when I tried to explain that I literally just had surgery on Thursday before and came home Friday night.
I put up with it, trying to get my part of the work done alone, because when I tried to reach out for help in the group chat, I was ignored. And then after class one day, she insisted I get all my late work done in two days, which I tried to tell her it was my soft deadline and that four days was my hard deadline, since I needed to be kinder to myself due to my health becoming worse. She said no, two days and that was final. "We all have our personal problems."
I came up to a fellow student I know fairly well to ask what I should do in this kind of situation, knowing he also had disabilities. He immediately convinced me to talk to my professor. He helped me through that, and the professor promised to talk to my group leader the next day.
Cue a week later. I get an email from my professor, telling me he wanted a one-on-one meeting. My anxiety surged. Oh no...am I in trouble? Did my group leader lie and tell him I was being ridiculous?
But I was wrong. He told me he was so worried when he had heard how horrible I was referring to myself during our conversation the week before. That without mentioning my name, he talked to the university counselors for advice. I reassured him I have a therapist and psychiatrist working with me, and that my negative self-talk is a work in progress.
The point is guys, this is how all professors should react to alarming symptoms of mental health. My professor did everything right. He contacted professionals of the university without saying my name at first, immediately had a private meeting with me, and now is helping me by working with me on due dates and making sure my group members treat me fairly.
Once again guys, it's important to fight for the right to be treated fairly. You have a right to be treated like a human being and get the accommodations you need.
TLDR; My professor saw alarming mental health symptoms, and acted respectfully with professionals and is working with me to make sure I succeed. He is a great example of what should be expected.
I now have more hope in humanity.

Ever think about how much the Asoiaf books delve into the experiences of characters with disabled or non-conforming bodies? And how GOT went on to completely forget those? And how in Hotd Aemond's experiences as a disabled person are also completely ignored?
How after a childhood of being seen as deficient for being dragonless he will go on to face a life of being seen as deficient for missing his eye? How he might have chronic pain and permanent nerv damage? How he would have to work harder than anybody else to fight well despite his lack of depth perception and reduced field of vision? And how no matter how hard he works every opponents will still immediately know what his weakness is? How he changed from a timid and reserved boy to an aggressive and violent man? How his new persona was most likely crafted in an effort to protect himself?

In regards to that video on Twitter, of all places, making rounds about an autistic boy’s violent meltdown about not getting something he wants. Props to the mom for showing she actually has a little bit of knowledge of what to do in this situation! Also, she’s a fucking disgusting human being for actively making a TikTok (let me say that again so you’ll understand. A TIKTOK. You know, the place that has a negative reputation for a reason.) displaying her child’s meltdown to the world! In what fucking universe does a parent see their child having a full blown meltdown and say “oh, looks like my child is having a meltdown again. Let me just pull my phone out and record my autistic kid’s reaction for the world to see!” Like literally fuck you for doing that. What was probably your attempt to “spread awareness” has turned into a threshold for demonizing and public humiliation! Have you not seen the comments people are leaving on this video? How many times it’s been shared and twisted to make you out to be the “victim”? That’s cause that’s all the fucking video did! You posted a video of your autistic son choking you out during a meltdown because you just wanted to remind the world “being an autism mom is soooooo haarrrrdddd” literally for fuck’s sake woman. Be for real. The only one who needs to be put in a zoo is your birdbrained ass for exploiting your child’s reaction to not getting what they want! My apologies that your alien overlords didn’t give you the fucking human decency guide before dropping you on planet earth!
Autism moms who brag about being autism moms are the scum under my shoe. Nefarious sons of bitches I tell you. There’s a special crib in hell for crybaby autism moms who play victim.

I hate it when I find an interesting psychology channel and they eventually bring up the bs about narcissistic parents/partners/people and how we're evil for existing. I thought they would finally be one of the few good channels that wouldn't be an ablelist piece of shit that throws pwNPD under the bus and but they are and their comment section on the video is filled with the narc abuse truthers.

for the childhood ask game: 3, 5, 11, 30 for Bill?
3. Did they throw a lot of tantrums as children?
Yes, he did, especially when he was around 2-4 years old. Even at such a young age, Bill was extremely frustrated with a lot of things. He couldn’t express himself through words until he began speaking at age 5. Whenever he tried to express his desires, his parents mostly ignored him because he couldn’t tell them verbally. Screaming and crying became his only way of expressing himself, forcing his parents to pay attention.
5. What was their favorite toy?
Bill didn’t have a lot of toys as a child, but the one he remembers liking the most was his rocking horse. Rocking calms him down, but his mother (and father, but Bill’s father was extremely neglectful so he rarely heard any words of acknowledgment from him) would call him a “freak” whenever he did it without the toy. So, he’d rock on the horse for hours, not understanding why his parents were so disdainful of him.
11. Who was their first childhood crush?
He didn’t have one, at least not a real one. Bill was raised essentially by himself, interacting with very few people other than his parents. The closest thing he had to a childhood crush was David from the Bible.
30. In general, did they have a good childhood?
NOPE. It was God awful actually

weird people with weird brains love lovecraftian horror because they relate to the monsters. they were written because someone was hateful enough to conflate them with those unknown fears. we love horror with the same amount of passion that people hate us. My assignment was due 18 hours ago and I've had about a total of 4.5 hours sleep between 2 naps in over 24 hours. I still have so much to go and I feel so shit. Let's hope what I submit isn't garbage and actually makes sense because I feel like I am going insane
