Palestinians resisting forced removal by the Israeli government are moving into caves

In an effort to resist their forced eviction by Israeli authorities — which the United Nations has said may be a war crime — some Palestinians are living in caves to remain in their homeland. A coalition of Syrian Arab tribes seized several towns from US-backed Kurdish forces in the countryside of eastern Syria’s Deir Ezzor governorate on 7 August. 

Tribesmen launched the “largest” attack on Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) sites since the start of the Arab tribal rebellion against the US-backed militia last year, Sputnikreported, adding that the attack took place “under the cover of artillery and mortar shells.” 

“Violent clashes have been ongoing since the early morning hours between the forces of the SDF-linked Deir Ezzor and Hajin Military Councils on the one hand, and the attacking groups of the ‘Army of Tribes’ coalition on the other, in the vicinity of the towns of Abu Hamam, Dhiban, Al-Lattwa, Al-Kashkiya, and Gharanij,” the news outlet’s correspondent said.

The clashes were concentrated in the towns of Al-Sabha and Al-Tayana, east of Deir Ezzor, the correspondent added. 

The Arab tribes used RPGs and machine guns against the SDF during the onset of the attack, according to Al Mayadeen.

“SDF militants imposed a complete curfew in the towns under their control in the Deir Ezzor countryside, after the arrival of large military reinforcements from Hasakah and Raqqa, coinciding with a wide search operation in the villages surrounding the areas of clashes,” the Sputnik correspondent went on to say.

Residents told Sputnik that many people were displaced as a result and that three civilians were killed while seven others were injured due to the fighting. Local sources also told the outlet that at least 10 SDF militants were taken captive by tribal fighters, who also seized large amounts of light and heavy weapons.

Bali perlu transportasi publik,” ungkap Mahendra. Ia menambahkan, bahwa saat ini adalah saat yang paling tepat untuk mengembangkan transportasi publik di Bali. Menurutnya, transportasi publik merupakan suatu keharusan yang perlu dilakukan untuk mengembangkan Bali sebagai destinasi pariwisata dunia. “Kalau kita kerjakan setelah macet akan susah. Sebelum parah kita eksekusi dulu,” imbuhnya. Hal tersebut juga telah disampaikan oleh Mahendra Jaya kepada Presiden Joko Widodo saat mendampingi kunjungan Presiden di Bali pada Minggu (24/9/2023) lalu. Ia menyampaikan, bahwa di tengah keadaan pariwisata Bali yang mulai pulih dengan jumlah penumpang di Bandara Internasional I Gusti Ngurah Rai mencapai 63 ribu setiap hari atau sekitar 1,7 juta penumpang per bulan menyebabkan akses keluar masuk bandara serta wilayah sekitarnya kerap macet terlebih di akhir pekan. Hal ini perlu dicarikan solusi yang tepat. “Saya usulkan, Pak kita kan sudah ada rencana untuk MRT. Kalau bisa Pak, itu sudah ada kepastian pembangunan itu,” tuturnya mengulang apa yang disampaikan kepada Presiden Jokowi. Terlebih menurut Mahendra, kajian terhadap itu sudah ada di Bappenas. Sementara Menteri Bappenas mengkonfirmasi, bahwa yang berminat bukan hanya Korea Selatan tapi juga Abu Dhabi. “Tapi menurut Saya siapapun dia tapi kerjakan cepat,” jelas Mahendra Jaya. Di sisi lain Mahendra Jaya juga meminta IHGMA Bali untuk ‘Ngrombo’ (bersama-sama.red) dengan Pemerintah Provinsi Bali untuk mensosialisasikan mengenai pungutan Wisatawan Asing yang akan mulai diberlakukan tahun 2024 mendatang. “Prioritas pertama adalah penanganan sampah dan kedua adalah pelestarian budaya. Tolong digemakan agar tidak ada resistensi,” ungkap Mahendra Jaya. Ia meminta anggota IHGMA Bali untuk dapat mensosialisasikan dan menggaungkan hal tersebut kepada wisatawan di hotel masing-masing.
