Just saw a post saying “minors shouldn’t identify as aro/ace” and I wanted to say… fuck you.

No look, okay I get why some people don’t want minors in certain spaces, and that’s fine. DNI minors then, if you want to.

But you can identify as anything at anytime in your life. It doesn’t hurt anyone to identify as one thing and then realise you’re another. It’s growth. Your identity will change as you age. It’s normal. And if it doesn’t? That’s also normal.

Also, from 13-18 (minors in most countries) is the most complexly romantic and sexual time. Obviously I’m not going into detail as again MINORS. But teenagers undergo the most change is hormones, emotional growth, romantic and sexual interest then any other age.

In my opinion, teenage years is when you’re MOST LIKELY to figure out you’re aro/ace. It’s the MOST LIKELY time to question your identity in general. Obviously, again, no age limit, but it’s the most common time for self discovery.

It’s called a “coming of age” story for a reason.

If the petition against conversion therapy in the EU doesn't reach one million statements of support TODAY, it will fail! It's so close, only about 98,500 to go at the time of writing this post! It has already reached the minimum threshold in over 7 countries, it just needs more votes!

Even if you don't live in the EU please share! Banning conversion therapy is such a huge deal and could help so many LGBTQ+ people across Europe.

Is it weird that I never found a community more comforting and close than the LGBTQ community? I have love in me. Not everyone was a lover. There were pan, ace bi people, there were non-binary aroace... (bi people are more love.) There were posts that were full of people. It was kindness. The community was kind. And it didn't hate intensity. // The community was more. More people, it was way more. There is MOGAI, m-spec lesbian and gay, lesboy and turigirl. There, everywhere. I am extremely varied myself. I'd be mogai, ace, m-spec identities, ect. That tight community is there.

Yes I agree! The thing is everyone knows lesbians and gays and bisexuals and trans people exist, at least now days most people do. But unless you stumble across the aroace community somewhere, you won’t know they exist.

I didn’t until I watched BW and we got Yelena on the big screen and I was very much into Yelena then as I am now, so I got deep into the fandom, which made me discover the joys or aroace Yelena and through her the aroace community.

Thought I must admit I have heard the terms before, from a friend who thought she might be ace (idk where she is now so i’ll never know), but I didn’t really question what they are at the time.

i firmly believe that A LOT of people are actually under the aromantic and/or asexual spectrum and they just don't know it yet
