genuinely one of my favourite things about edgeworth is how morally ambigious he is in AA1. I love the ambiguity on wether or not he used falsified/illegal evidence during his earlier years (which gets a little ruined in the Lana Skye case but alas), I love that it is SHOWN how he pressures witnesses into saying what he wants, leaving out vital information, updating court information in his favour etc etc like its SO interesting!! And its all driven by a personal desire to win!! yes he hates criminals yes he wants to use the law in a rightful way but on many levels he is blinded by that desire and doesnt really take any time to doubt his own judgement or the system he is working for!! he just believes he is right!!! its FASCINATING to see and on a lot of levels you can be sympathetic to how he ended up that way, but when typically the people he is sentencing end up on death row, it makes his potential mistakes much much much heavier.
there is 5 years of people he potentially wrongfully sentences to death because of his flawed belief that he simply Cannot Be Wrong. and thats CRAZY!! it makes his redemption and desire to change even more compelling!! he is allowed wallow (run away for a year) but even more so he is allowed improve and move on, he is not condemmned forever, and instead makes intentional moves to improve himself and the system he works under! i love u miles edgeworth

Sometimes, Things Happen (Ace Attorney Analysis)
I have more thoughts in my mind about Miles Edgeworth and the way he’s written in the Ace Attorney Trilogy and the Investigations duology so far.
There is one detail I appreciate about the way his backstory is framed.
Often in stories (movies, video games, TV, any media under the sun with characters and a narrative) we see a character’s tragic past as “something that had to happen.”  That “they wouldn’t be who they are today if it wasn’t for their hardships,” their suffering built character and/or made them stronger, and that everything happens for a reason.
If we take a look at Edgeworth and the way he (and the narrative) treats his past, we are shown a different angle.  The DL-6 Incident and its fallout are depicted as a negative event, one that ruined the lives of many.  It was a devastating case for almost everyone involved (and even Manfred von Karma was worse for it, diving even further into corruption and going way past the point of no return.)
In later games, even after the DL-6 case is solved and officially put to rest, Edgeworth still refers to it as the time his life was shattered forever.  It’s only through a lot of soul searching and reconnecting with old friends (along with new ones) that Edgeworth begins a new path in his life.  I start to delve into speculation and head canon territory with my next statement, but one could argue that Miles wouldn’t be questioning his own morality and purpose in life if DL-6 didn’t occur and Gregory was still alive to give him guidance.
Ace Attorney’s writing is consistent so far in that it doesn’t consider its more tragic events as blessings in disguise, meant to give characters challenges to overcome and be their best selves. Instead these scenes show that “sometimes bad things happen to good people, and acceptance still doesn’t bring back the people who are gone.”  It is a sad truth, but one that can probably resonate with players to some degree.
This game series might have some gimmicks, running jokes and pun-filled names, but when it gets into serious matters, it sure doesn’t mess around.
I truly respect that as a storyteller and reader.

Ace Attorney be like "I'm sorry witness, that last part you said about eighteen century coin smithing, could you elaborate on that?"
"What? Oh, I'm only a novice collector, but- *does a little wriggle* "
“Phoenix Wright, are you just stalling for time?"
“I assure you your honor, what Licka Cents has to say will be prove to be vital to finding out the truth of what really happened that night!
(He's right, I am just stalling for time. But I have a feeling....)
*Evil gay person voice* "Tut tut tut. Penis Wright, will you never learn? The only place for bullshit in my courtroom-" *strikes a pose* "Is in the garbäge!"

i came here from the BDSM fluffery and stayed to find out there's an expansive lore. What do you mean there's a yuri fanfic about you and another heritage blog?? you have an evil clone??? Fascinating fascinating I am intrigued to learn more! And also more about this lovely game franchise you seem so fond of, I am only familiar with ace attorney so this is!!! Wonderful news to a curious lot such as myself that there are MORE.
-sincerely, an experiment
1. The fanfiction author has their own blog where all the lore about heritage yuri is compiled, @lhpxaahpya
2. My evil clone exists purely to mock my very existence. They are also a relatively new addition to the layton Heritage posts cinematic universe
3. If you are an ace attorney fan you're gonna feel right at home with Layton games. The trifecta of Ace Attorney, Professor Layton and Ghost Trick has been unofficially titled as "superwholock for people who like ds visual novels".
4. You don't even know half of my lore yet. The Heritagesona. The triple Baka Video. The underground archive where I live. The fact that you have to kill me to become the new LHP. The-
5. If you're looking for a place to get started, I recommend either:
- Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright
A crossover game between ace attorney and professor layton, in case the title wasn't obvious enough. Perfect game for people who only know ace attorney ans wanna dip their toes into layton games. Also the Perfect game for people who only know professor layton and wanna try out ace attorney. Both the Puzzles and Court Cases are easier than in the other games and the story. Let's just say the story is a handful but it's still a really good game.
- Professor Layton and the Curious Village
The first ever Layton game, recently remastered for mobile phones and such its the most easily available game on the list (aside from piracy or a hacked 3ds obviously). It's certainly shows it's age and a case of "first-game-in-the-series-itis", but that luckily doesn't hurt the game that badly and is still a good time.
- Professor Layton and the Specter's Call
You know how with star wars there is the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy? It's the same with Layton.
Curious village is the first game in the og trilogy, and Specters Call is the first game in the prequels. Personally, this is the game I usually recommend to start with because I think it perfectly encapsulates that Layton feel, but this is just my opinion. It's fun, it's mystery element is great, I love the aesthetic, banger game.

The Locked Tomb (book series) | Ace Attorney (video game series + anime)
Tumblr media
Palamedes Sextus & Camilla Hect:
they are deeply, insanely devoted to each other. also camilla is a very very good sword fighter, and pal can outthink most people
Maya Fey & Phoenix Wright:
1. Quite frankly I don’t think they will win. They are constantly being tormented and experiencing the horrors and this poll would be no different. 2. they literally cannot die no matter what hell canon puts them through. fall off that bridge n cliff to a deathly boy! get kidnapped like 4 times girl! when she gets kidnapped like the first time, they had to make a new sprite for Phoenix coz he didn’t look devasted and depressed enough. Power of friendship though! and she is OKI! :) 3. The most iconic attorney and assistant pair in the series. Phoenix canonically ran onto a burning bridge to try to save Maya when she was in danger. His call with her got cut off once and he left the country to go make sure she was safe. She’s been kidnapped twice to be used as leverage against him and both times she was more worried about him than herself. She once jumped in front of a taser to try to protect him. He’s also defended her from murder accusations like four times. Their relationship defines the original game trilogy even more than the Wright-Edgeworth relationship does. Other Ace Attorney games wish they could replicate this dynamic. They got added to a fighting game as a single unit where they work together to fight. They both think they’re the reasonable one in this friendship, despite neither of them actually deserving that title.
Note: This blog is run & followed by aromantics. Insisting any pairs are ~actually romantic~ will not only cause you to be blocked on the spot, but you’ll be outed as someone not safe to be queer around. No one wants to hear how stupid you look with those shipping goggles on.

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
for Ryunosuke!
RYUNOSUKE NARUHODO MY BEST FRIEND RYUNOSUKE NARUHODO 🐭
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
He's my favourite Ace Attorney character tied with Maya! He's an underdog character who doesn't even start as a lawyer but then has an amazing character arc that really leads him to deserving that "Great Ace Attorney" title by the end. His animations are all really charming and I can't pick a favourite. He has a unique and interesting relationship with every other main character. He's very outwardly polite with a sarcastic and snarky inner monologue that occasionally leaks into his outer monologue. Can't remember three digits on his student badge (which he's lost three times) but CAN unravel complex government conspiracies. If you told him "gullible" was written on the ceiling he'd check and then politely ask if you could be mistaken. He won't bluff in the courtroom but can bluff for England when asked to tidy his desk by his teenage assistant. He drags out the equivalent of Mia Fey's "well if you're sure it isn't poisoned why don't YOU take it" several times in court and it just works. Nobody is doing it like him. Obsessed with this guy
2. Favourite canon thing about this character?
I love that all we know about his backstory is random lore drops, mostly from optional dialogue. He's not even cagey about it in the way Phoenix is, it's just that people never ask him anything. Turns out he steals soap from public baths, has had a cold only once in his life and still complains about it, takes all his medicine at once when he's prescribed some, doesn't like knives (except Karuma, that's Kazuma's soul, Susato), knows only three types of flowers that are actually just blossoms, and who knows what else??
(Also I relate to him being terrified at Madame Tussauds because I went to Madame Tussauds once as a child and remember having a similar reaction so I think he's very valid for that tbh)
3. Least favourite canon things about this character?
I know Phoenix is never actually confirmed to be Ryunosuke's DIRECT descendant but the fact that it implies Ryunosuke canonically has children at some point baffles me. I cannot imagine this man being a father. There are enough weird contrivances that lead to characters ending up with children in this series that I can believe he got saddled with a kid at some point, but would he actually be a good parent? Uh..... Maybe he'd have been better as a standalone character tbh
4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
I'd love to put Ryunosuke in Doctor Who. This man is definitely NOT equipped for aliens and time travel so I just think putting him in both situations would be really funny. I think he'd get along with the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) because he matches a lot of the Sholmes energy, but he'd probably be more likely to actually survive if paired with 12th (Peter Capaldi) lmao
If reality shows count then I'd put him on Strictly Come Dancing if only because he already made a direct reference to it in the game which is hilarious (Sholmes would also be extremely funny on Strictly, obviously)
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
I don't listen to a lot of music but Toh Kay's "The Hands that Thieve" has always made me think of Gina and Ryunosuke reflecting on both the McGilded trial and Ryunosuke's trial and losing faith in the legal system, while Ryunosuke prepares to defend Gina in that final trial of the first game. (I've been editing a video of it but I'm not sure I'll post it anywhere lest I get stricken down by copyright)
Thanks for the ask!! 🐭

Long time, no post BUT
My boyfriend & I started a YouTube channel where we decided to play games and do silly voices! I figured it's be a good idea to post the art I've done for the channel to drum up some hype for it! Check out our videos @cynicalcyborg-electroglamemo or directly on our channel!
Pictures featured:
Title card I made for our videos
My TGAA OC I made for myself bc I think self-inserts are self-care & I'm too old to care about being cringe (yes, I'm still hard into that electric aesthetic)
Modern!AU Ryunosuke design plus a few lil headcanons I have for him 💛
I've also been pretty obsessed with Great Ace Attorney (the game we're currently playing) & a certain character in particular (i think you can guess), so I might post some of the sketches I've been doing since getting into the series.
Thanks for reading! Hope y'all like it!
Other channel art: [Title card, TGAA self-insert OC, & Modern!Ryunosuke]

Video Game Track Bracket Round 3
Great Pursuit - The Resolve of Ryunosuke Naruhodo from The Great Ace Attorney: Resolve
youtube
vs.
Ezio's Family from Assassin's Creed II
youtube
Propaganda under the cut. If you want your propaganda reblogged and added to future polls, please tag it as propaganda or otherwise indicate this!
Ezio's Family:
"It is a good life we lead brother." "The best. And may it never change." "And may it never change us." (AAAAAAAAAAAAAA *Unintelligible sobbing*) Right so this song is everything to me. It is comfort, angst, and stunning beauty rolled into one. It is moments to which you can never go back but must preserve in your mind so that they never die either. I have really bad nightmares somewhat often and when I wake up from something that's like, "welp, I'm not going back to sleep in case I have to experience THAT again," but then look at the clock and I've only been asleep for two hours so I don't really have a choice, I put the Slowed 2 hour Sistine Chapel version on in my room and it lets me actually sleep enough to be functional the next day. I owe soooo much to this song!!!! I even hum the chord progression to myself when I'm freaking out and it helps. This song is so good that it accidentally became the theme song of the series and most of the games that came after have their own remixes of it. None of them come close to the opening credits of two though.
This is one of the first game songs I truly fell in love with.

July 8: Video Games Day
Bowser wasn’t one for video games, at first.
Junior was the first to get into them, obtaining a variety of consoles that have taken a good portion of his room- which is impressive, considering the rest of it was filled with his bed, art supplies, and hundreds of canvases.
He thought that Junior would be the only child to have an interest in them.
Until he found Ludwig playing “Guitar Villian” with Junior cheering him on.
After that, the other Koopalings started trickling into the hobby as well, with each delving into genres that contributed variety to Junior’s collection.
Larry was predictably drawn towards the adventure/Beat-‘em-Up genres that exuded flashy action sequences and mechanics. However, he was also a bit picky about which he plays, as Bowser found out the hard way.
Morton, on the other hand, surprisingly liked mystery-oriented games like “Professor Clayton”, or “Sphinx Bright: Ace Attorney”. He is also surprisingly good at them, but only if he lets himself stew over the information he’s given (and remembers where he left off).
Wendy was someone who enjoyed anything from the "Barbee" series, although Bowser couldn’t see the connection between that and the gorey Horror games she likes. He’s not sure if he ever wants to know.
Iggy was the one who enjoyed Sci-fi games like “Malter Effect”- usually getting drawn in by the promise of complex technological ‘world building’, but then somehow ending up obsessed with the fictional characters.
Roy had a preference for laid-back games like "Laircraft", liking to build fortresses, treehouses, and other architectural projects that could be made in a cubical world.
Lemmy was the one who liked playing simulators, some of which seem to be ‘out there’ in terms of what the simulation is- like being in control of a Piranha Plant or living through historical tragedies.
Ludwig liked any and every type of musical or rhythm-based game. The sudden veer toward “Just Stomp” was a surprise, of course, but logically followed the same principles he enjoyed with “Rhythm Heck”.
Junior still had his preference for racers and sport-related games, but the gradual inclusion of the collective Koopaling collection has made him try other games- having more success with Larry’s and Roy’s recommendations.
Heck, even Bowser got roped into participating in their gaming sessions. If not as an onlooker, then as a teammate or opponent. It… was more fun than he anticipated.
So, when he married Luigi (with his kids’ insistence and Mario’s blessing), he felt like he only had to wait a week before finding Luigi in the same boat.
And then he found out his husband was a bit of a gamer too. Just…
Not exactly the same level as the kids.
For whatever Grambi-damned reason, Luigi was ridiculously lucky in anything involving chance.
Secret Combos? Completely discovered by accident.
Finding randomized clues? Somehow uses the correct sequence of finding them even when he visibly looks lost.
Horror game survival? Always chooses the right path or figures out the quickest way to defeat the creature/bad guy.
Speech checks? Always passed on the first try.
"Laircraft" Loot? Roy immediately started farming cave chests with Luigi ‘taking a turn’.
Unlocking hidden achievements? Always, always getting at least one every session.
Following the rhythm of a new song? Somehow never stumbles despite his clumsiness.
Getting power up’s in a racer game? Always the right one for the situation, especially ones that get Luigi into 1st place.
The fact that his luck is ridiculous enough to transcend genres is a point of wonder (and bets) among his kids, and Bowser ended up dreading the day they run out of games to lob at him.
And then they turned to card games- specifically poker.
It was a type of videogame that Bowser couldn’t get- why gamble play a virtual game of cards if you could do it easily in real life?
And, knowing that Luigi used to work in a casino (so many questions, so little answers), Bowser figured he’d have that game in the bag.
And then he saw him lose, for the first time ever.
The Koopalings, who have gathered to spectate another success, were stunned silent as they realized that Luigi LOST.
Bowser was stunned silent, but for a different reason:
Luigi looked resigned- like this happened before.
“I guess there are rules in this world that never change…”
“What.”
"Ah," Luigi just blinks at them all, not understanding the sheer significance of what they witnessed. "I'm not good with card games."
“What.”
"Um. I'm not good with them?"
“Mama, surely you're joking.... you're not joking ohmystars-"
"Why would I joke about that?"
"Why would you be horrible with card games?"
"Not horrible! Just... unlucky."
...
