Okaaaayyyy figured I'd make a proper post so that people aren't confused.

I'm casting for a youtube series I'm making for "The Amazing Animated Circus"

Right now I'm looking at 20 episodes in total, but I only plan on making each one a few minutes. The project will basically be in the style of an audio drama with occasional images, justified in universe as secret photographs and audio recordings taken by the characters.

The main exception will be the first episode, which will be an animatic, and maybe some fake cartoon episodes if I'm feeling spicy.

Although there have been a lot of great female auditions, I am sorely in need of males ones. Especially one of the male human characters, Seymour, who is going to be a major part of the series.

The deadline is still a while a way (August 6th), so you have plenty of time to apply!

during this latest rewatch of smallville i have been watching panels and episodes of michael rosembaum's podcast etc and i have learned some things. for example one thing i learned is that jensen ackles came very close to being cast as clark kent. like it was basically down to him and tom welling. another thing i learned is that misha collins auditioned for lex luthor.

so what i am saying is that jensen ackles and misha collins narrowly avoided playing intensely homoerotic boybesties clark and lex on the wb's smallville only to instead play even more intensely homoerotic boybesties in love dean and castiel on the wb's supernatural less than ten years later. i don't really know where i am going with this except to ask yet again what the fuck kind of black magic occurred on the supernatural set to cause it to be this magnetic force for cosmic levels of coincidence. how is it that every domino that has ever tipped over somehow leads back to fucking supernatural

RYAN CONDAL TALKING ABOUT EWAN MITCHELL AS AEMOND TARGARYEN FOR THE FACE MAGAZINE (2023).

“It definitely felt like Ewan’s arrival on the show was a seismic hit,” says showrunner Ryan Condal.

“He’s come in with a bunch of young actors who are going to play these characters, then take over for the rest of the series.”

“It’s a murderer’s row of great young British acting talent.”

Condal remembers a day when the actors were gathered in the cast tent, winding down from a previous scene.

Mitchell was missing:

“I went around the corner and saw Ewan in the corner with his sword, practising.”

“That to me felt very Aemond.”

“He’s always working on improving his skills.”

“He’s not taking coffee breaks.”

Thinking back to Mitchell’s audition:

“His presence – his walk, the way he took the room, the way he made eye contact with everybody.”

But even for the experienced showrunner, the intensity was bracing:

“It was actually quite off-putting because Ewan is a very committed actor.”

“I don’t want to say he’s Method because I actually don’t know what his approach is.”

“But he came into that room as Aemond!”

I just remember quietly saying to the casting director afterwards:

‘He’s fantastic, I have to have him… Is he always like that?’

this new silent hill trailer unfortunately resurfaces one of my most hated talking points too, which is the 'people who say they prefer the original acting over the new one are just blinded by nostalgia because the acting on the original was bad, they were just lucky that the oddness of it worked in their favor'.

i won't act as though the silent hill games are untouchable masterpieces that never had a single piece of questionable acting put on it, but this argument really does not hold water as a whole when you consider that silent hill was always meant to be intentionally weird and surreal. movies like jacob's ladder and the works of david lynch were cited explicitly as the biggest influences on the team when making these games. they made direct references and homages to some of the scenes from these movies and shows, even.

so to act as though the surreal quality of the games was nothing more than a happy accident is downright insulting to the crew, imo, like they were a bunch of clueless idiots who just happened to stumble into something good and not people who put thought and care into what they wanted the games they were working on to be like.

i LOVE my confused but supportive family. three of my cousins told me to audition for a role in the percy jackson series, “because you’re an actor!!” and i don’t really have a way to let them down so. i guess if/when the show is renewed for another season, and if they open up auditions for more secondary/extra characters, i guess i’ll audition? because my cousins are REALLY insisting that i audition.
