margo libra | she/her + bisexual, will date you regardless of head choice

margo is someone you can approach and talk to in uptown. when asking if you can talk to her she will say you have 30 seconds to talk before she walks away (which in game play would translate to being able to chose between 5 question options, and after 3 have been picked she will end the interaction and cannot be approached again). when asking her to take you to the funfair and explaining your reasoning behind why, she becomes amused and agrees to pay you in.

she is intentionally emotionally distant to pretty much everyone, as she struggles with a sort of inescapable boredom. she cannot keep herself interested in hobbies, jobs, people, etc, and as such often opts out of growing close to people in an effort to not go through the emotional damage that growing bored of a person brings for both parties involved. its a little hard to explain as she does hold affection for people she knows and distancing herself is a painful thing but she feels its whats best for both her and the other person

shes pretty well liked by those who know her, as shes a very level headed and reliable person, and gets along well with a lot of different kinds of people if/when she needs to.

she moved to dialtown with her mother, adelaide, when she was in her late teens (shes mid 20s during the events of the game). this was because when she came out as a trans woman to her father he threatened to kick her out and instead addy kinda just went alright. and grabbed her daughter and dipped

she has a habit of bouncing around between jobs, and during the in-game events she works as a tattoo artist

the compass she wears was a gift from her late grandfather on her dads side who she was very close to, on the back it has the words "may you always find your way" etched into it

her route is about helping her figure out ways to fall in love with the mundane. helping her sort of relearn how to see the world as a place full of wonders even if some of them are small or seem overall insignificant.

juniper evans | she/her, nondateable

juniper is an 18 year old who ran away from a neglectful home at the age of 16 with nothing but her bag, her skateboard, and an electric guitar, eventually winding up in dialtown. currently she lives in the apartments and works at a nearby fast food place

she self describes as a brat, and is known for being very aggressive and stand-offish. she gets a bit softer once she properly warms up to a person but its kind of a matter of tolerating her until that point which is rather difficult for most

shes very attached to margo and thinks of her as the 'coolest person in dialtown', often going out of her way to try and impress her but usually just getting one of both of them into trouble.

when the player shows up and margo takes an immediate liking to them, she feels she's being pushed aside. this results in her approaching the player and offering 'advice', saying shes known margo longer and would know what she likes, her actual intentions being to make you insufferable for margo. you can choose to follow her advice and doing so will shift the routes focus away from margo and toward her as she is now 'coaching' the player. the advice gets increasingly worse and ultimately ends with margo becoming fed up with the both of you causing problems and cutting both of you off

if you choose to decline her offer the route remains focused on margo and helping her through her issues, with juniper occasionally popping up and trying to sabotage the relationship in different ways by making you embarrass yourself in front of margo (which fails every time as said woman just finds you being cringe fail endearing). this line of the route ends with a final confrontation between the player and juniper, where you step out of a date with margo for a moment to confront the dejected girl and ask her what her deal is. she explains herself and does end up apologizing, and the final bit of dialogue exchange includes margo stepping in and letting the both of you know shed been listening, and agreeing to talk over things with juniper in private later and assures her she isnt mad

juniper is technically the cause of Two bad ends, as she causes the one mentioned above and also is what causes jacksons shit yourself and die end

even the silverest of spoons being in your mouth when you're born doesn't shield you from the unhappiness of life, but it does slap a bandage over a festering wound so you can ignore it a while longer. kenta mochizuki, a dermatologist originally from japan. beth mcnulty, general legal counsel for one of the biggest energy companies in all of australia. married a little later than either of their families would have liked, but in their defense, they were both busy being successful. and they barely slowed down long enough to have their only child, takaharu.

though of an ornery countenance since birth, taka was always still popular and favored because he was pretty and rich. clarinet lessons, piano lessons, drum lessons, surfing lessons, she was set up for success from the very beginning. her childhood memories are mostly accompanied by nannies and tutors, though her father, an earnest and excitable man, always made an effort to be present in his child's life, eager to see her succeed.

there was always a distance between taka and their mother, though; taka knows now that beth never wanted to be a parent. this attitude became clearly evident when she didn't show up to taka's tenth birthday dinner. it was soon revealed that she'd forgotten, and more of the truth came tumbling out: she shirked her parental duties for an affair. and this apparently had been going on for quite some time, seeing other men that weren't her heartbreakingly devoted husband.

lashonda rhimes, successful anesthesiologist to the stars, and kenta's second wife. she was a few years younger, though not egregiously so, but still childless. and she treated taka like her own child, which might have been externally brushed off by the surly teenager, but taka came to appreciate it. he was popular in his new home, with his accent and his money and his looks. being so intelligent, the transition to a new continent wasn't difficult at all, and he finished high school near the top of his class.

he didn't really have a plan for his life, and all his parents really wanted out of him was just for him to go to college. an acceptance to duke university was sweetened by some scholarships, and whatever those didn't cover was easily made up for by the wads of cash his family had. taka had started smoking weed not long after landing in the US, but she branched out into new drugs while in durham, north carolina, for college.

acid trips were unpleasant every time she tried dropping; and she didn't like injecting anything to leave marks behind on her pretty body. but she soon found a bad habit in cocaine. she would sniff a few lines, party for several hours, go home and do homework, go to class, and go to modeling shoots, and do it all over again. somehow, using sheer ambition probably, she finished college within 4 years, even with a double major and a couple semesters spent studying abroad.

these days, taka keep busy in any way she knows how: too long with her own thoughts can be dangerous and make her itch to return to her cocaine habit. but they've done a good job of staying clean. taka doesn't need to work for money—his mother sends him gobs of money to curry his favor, and his father and stepmother have nobody else to spoil—but he does work to stay busy, spinning tunes at the boom boom room; modeling for small indie publications and brands; and gaining some traction as a music producer.

with more money than one person should ever need, taka gives a lot of it away. there are a few charities she routinely makes generous donations to; but she also likes to take care of her friends. she'll buy her closest friends whatever they want, buy their groceries, offer to pay rent or even let them stay in her house, offer to pay their medical bills... seriously, what is one lonely person gonna do with all those digits in their bank account? besides, spending money is the only way she knows how to show love.

Alex "Ace" Walker

Born in Adelaide, South Australia, his fascination with speed was ignited by his father, a former rally driver who often regaled young Alex with tales of daring adventures behind the wheel.

As a child, Alex was always on the move, whether it was riding his bicycle at breakneck speeds, skateboarding down steep hills, or participating in go-kart races with friends. His boundless energy and innate fearlessness were undeniable.

By the time Alex was a teenager, his family had relocated to Melbourne, the heart of Australian motorsports. It was there that he had his first taste of competitive karting, and it didn't take long for his talent to become apparent. His ability to push the limits of speed and control was unmatched, and he began winning local championships with ease.

With his reputation as a young racing prodigy growing, Alex's family made the decision to invest in his career. They secured sponsors and enrolled him in a racing academy. His charisma and charm made him a marketable figure, and soon, he was competing in Formula Ford championships.

His wins and podium finishes in various categories caught the attention of a Formula 1 development program, and he was offered a contract with a junior team. Alex quickly established himself as a daring and charismatic driver. which got him where he is today.

Last day of our holiday.

A final walk to the beach for Phil and me while Sharon and Paul did some garden pottering. While at the beach we saw a guy on a windsurfer that was rigged on to a skateboard and he was going up and down the beach on the hard sand. He had stopped for a rest so we went over for a chat. He was an older guy who had moved to Sellicks 18 mths earlier after having to move out of his rental in Adelaide. He loved the forced move.

Then a drive to Myponga - a little township near Sellicks. It has a beautiful Reservoir Reserve which we walked around.

Kangaroos everywhere and a great place for kayaking.

Then we had a coffee at a cafe in Myponga which was fabulous. Very eclectic bunch of decorations in what looked like an old garage.

Before we knew it, we were heading to the airport to catch our flight. All over red rover. Big thank you to Paul and Sharon for sharing their home with us and its beautiful surrounds.

We arrived at Sydney airport at 9:10pm and then caught the train/bus home. BUT the lovely Ian and Kithrine offered to pick us up at Dee Why bus stop to avoid an Uber to our doorstep. We have some great friends. 😘

I think that vote would be stuck between Dylan, Zach or Christine. In all honesty, the whole cast of this WIP has a lot of different personalities that I did my best to make unique, so every MC character in this WIP would probably be someone's favorite once the book's out lol. But I think those three would absolutely be the at the Top 3:

Dylan Millihan:

Overall Description/Vibes: 23M, a reserved, emotionally unavailable mess of an young man who is trying his best and is probably more overworked than it would be healthy but pretends he's fine by using a social mask of bad mood and distance from strangers. Cares about his little sister immensely but generally doesn't know how to show it verbally so just shows it through quiet actions and hopes for the best.

Appearance: Tall, handsome, has medium to long hazel hair vaguely styled in a 80s-90s way, usually wears black button up shirts not buttoned up all the way and jeans. Prefers boots over sneakers.

Zach Taylors:

Overall Description/Vibes: 16M, an incredibly charismatically charming goth kid who likes freedom above everything and who has some serious self-esteem issues that he hides behind a facade of confidence. He's Amy Millihan's best friend and love interest as the story progresses. Zach loves music, skateboarding and reading books from his vast collection he stole from the library.

Appearance: Average height, skinny, usually wears improvised goth style clothes including a shirt with the logo from his favorite yet obscure band, dark grey jacket with DIY spikes and small chains, black fingerless gloves with ripped fishnetting, spike studded black converse sneakers + dark nail polish and eyeliner. Has short, yet messy dark brown hair.

Christine Nespor:

Overall Description/Vibes: 22F, a laid-back wanderer with a love for all things funny, from jokes to pranks to hilariously bad movies, but who is also really wise when it comes to life and gives top tier advice. Loves a good amount of harmless chaos and probably knows more than a few really strange unsolved cases that really contrast with her wholesome personality. She's also Dylan's first friend and later love interest in Vinethorn Grove.

Appearance: Average height, has wavy blonde hair cut into a simple yet stylish bob, wears cutesy yet simple makeup preferring to add a small splash of color to her styles. Loves woven sweaters, twill pants and patchwork shirts, especially DIY ones, and wears vintage sneakers. Has a playful smile.

Mayor Samuel Whitaker: Literal serial killer whose family is involved with bloody rituals with fey demons. Most of his victims are teens or kids because he "likes his souls young" (essentially the younger and more 'pure'/innocent the souls the more effective the sacrifices are)

Mrs. Adelaide Draycott: A 50 year old cougar/Karen who has nothing better to do in her life than to stalk Dylan (who is young enough to be her son at the very least) around to try to get him to 'fall in love with her'. When her attempts fail she fully becomes a Karen and decides to sabotage his entire life.

Sheriff Isaac Clarke: A corrupt, racist cop who thrives on nepotism and blackmail, often using underhanded tactics to get what he wants. Aids criminals if it means getting more power and literally 'calls the shots' in town. Also covers up the Mayor's string of murders and makes sure no investigations suceed.

Branden Heddam: Insanely threatening - probably drunk - biker gang leader who terrorizes innocent people and specially likes making his stepson's (Zach) life a living hell. The most abusive """"""parent"""""" figure known to mankind and has committed murders before due to his sheer brutality.

Cathleen "Cath" Edwards: The most annoying debt collector known to mankind who literally shows up unnanounced at the worst times and is so smug she could make Regina George cringe.

On Sundays, Harmonie Bataka skated in wide curves down a suburban street on the outskirts of Ghana’s capital, Accra, empty but for a scattering of people going to church. Sundays used to be the only time the 27-year-old could skateboard, when the streets were quiet and she didn’t have to work. That was before she quit her job last year to pursue the sport full time, to the dismay of friends and family. ‘They said there were too many boys doing it, boys who were too good for me to win any competitions … but I didn’t care,’ said Bataka.  ...
