Alright time for me to throw my theories into the mix regarding the Rat Grinders and Lucy Frostblade. 1. I think that Lucy was going to change her god but then either A. The God died or B. She died and she was one of the only believers of the God, causing them to die with her. She was from an incredibly rare race and it would make sense that maybe she'd be honoring God's that no one else knows about or has heard of. Theory 2. I think Lucy's supposed death REALLY shook the High Five Heroes and that's what caused them to become the Rat Grinders. The old picture shows they had normal heroic aspirations. The whole bit with them being in the forest is that it's basically the tutorial area with all the weakest enemies, Route 1 type shit. The place that Lucy disappeared was the lake that was right nearby the forest, which if we're using game progression logic, would be like the next step up, sort of like Level 2 in the Aguefort Adevnturing track. BUT, the moment they try to branch out, they're faced with a threat they don't know how to handle and being a newer party they lose a member. Lucy being the cleric, they wouldn't have had anyone to revive her so they watched their friend die in front of them. This trauma made them decide to never try and aim higher than twig blights.

Side theory, I think they might be haunted by her and/or suffer hallucinations of her as evidenced by Ivy not freaking out when she saw Fig disguised as Lucy.
