UK3: The Gauntlet (1984) is the wrap-up of the Adlerweg two-parter. The party has obtained the magical artifact (which turns out to be intelligent AND bossy, ugh) and have to set about defeating its foes for it. I hate this. My lone consolation is that it is destroyed at the end of the adventure.
This adventure is far stabbier than the first part. The initial problem is regaining the keep that has served as the prime defense for the region and was recently taken over by an army of evil humanoids led by an ogrillon, who wears the gauntlet that is the enemy of the glove the players have. Once they seize the keep, though, the ogrillon escapes into the keep’s unique (and admittedly pretty cool) magical prison. Meanwhile, a fire giant’s army lays siege to the place in order to free his daughter (also currently also in the magic prison). Eventually, the daughter is freed, the ogrillon slain, the army routed and the nagging glove destroyed (by touching the gauntlet and creating the sort of explosion you expect from a collision of matter and anti-matter). The end!
I like the first one more, mostly because it has xvarts in it and lacks a chatty glove. If it didn’t require the glove’s steering, I’d probably like this one more — I kind of love the idea of taking a keep and then immediately having to defend it — but the fact that it is pretty impossible for the PCs to organically succeed at unraveling the plot without the glove’s commentary is a significant flaw.
The direct continuation of UK2: The Sentinel, this is a Greyhawk module that makes little sense on its own, even though there, as usual, instructions for giving it a quick start to get the players up to speed with what is going on. Basically doing a kind of quick version of UK2, by making the characters find the sentinel, the good-aligned sentient glove that hates the evil-aligned Gauntlet.
So, starting off you will in any event have the Sentinel with you and have as your mission the destruction of its nemesis the Gauntlet. TheGauntlet has a lot of similarities with the One Ring, and it's hard not to see parallels. In this case it has been picked up by an Ogrillon that is now under the Gauntlet's influence and doing its bidding, mainly trying to find a more powerful host for the glove than the strong but dull Ogrillon. The characters are guided by the Sentinel to the town of Adlerweg, which is being besieged by Fire Giants and where most of the action is going to take place.
As a module it looks pretty cool, but really only half a thing, with UK2 pretty much a prerequisite for this adventure, the art by Pete Young is pretty grotesque, but in a way which I quite enjoy, with a real old-school feel to it and a griminess that is characteristic of UK products in a way which was absent from the more polished US productions of this time.

Tag 16 in Norwegen 🇳🇴

UK2: The Sentinel (1983) is the first of a two-parter, the “Adlerweg Series.” It has a bit of an underwhelming cover by Pete Young. He fares better in the interiors, though the vibe is distinct from the usual sort of D&D look, a little bit more story-bookish.
The adventure is odd, a fairly open, event-based one that involves a magic gauntlet called, you guessed it, The Sentinel, which was created to protect the region, and was lost, but has awakened in the face of an imminent external threat. The gauntlet caused a skulk to find it, and has altered the skulk’s behavior in hopes a better bearer might come along (AKA: the party). In unraveling the mystery of the not-so-evil skulk, the party also encounters a tribe of Xvarts and a half orc family who are vying to be the most evil group in the region. There are also a lot of other Fiend Folio monsters, like an iron cobra, a sheet phantom and some stunjelly, among others.
It is loose and plotty and feels very UK-ish (read: narrative heavy, I suppose). I like the weird ass selection of monsters, too, but my overall take-away is pretty neutral. This isn’t a very exciting module, and its action proceeds along pretty well-trod paths.
The Adlerweg (Eagle's Way) is an excellently waymarked 300km path that traverses the length of the Austrian state of Tyrol from St. Johann in the east to St. Anton in the west. This guide gives detailed route descriptions to the Adlerweg's 23 principal stages, as well as its 6 easier low-level alternatives and 8 more difficult high-level alpine variants through the Lechtal Alps. Strong walkers could complete the route in two weeks. Each stage is graded for difficulty but even the most difficult are accessible to most experienced walkers, and no special equipment is required. The route is also well served by good quality, well-positioned mountain accommodation and refreshment opportunities.?Named the eagle's way due to its appearance on the map (outspread wings reaching to either side of Tyrol and Innsbruck in the middle as the head), the Adlerweg is a beautiful long-distance path that is relatively new and becoming ever more popular.
