I don’t know if someone already told you this yet, but what if you did an au of your Disney characters but with the Disney princess villain songs by Lydia the Bard on YouTube?
Well, that’s a toughie, because there are only a couple I could see applying. Ariel, Rapunzel, Aurora, Snow White, Anna, Cinderella, Belle, Tinker Bell, I just couldn’t see Ondine, Adrien, Nath, Mylene, Kiran, Zoe, Rose or Lacey going down those paths for those reasons. The ones I could see are Mulan, Meg, Moana, Merida, Tiana and Isabela. Since Fei is Shang in this AU, maybe Mari could want to avenge her because she was killed by people who thought a woman shouldn’t lead the army, Roxie is Meg but the whole “abandoned by Herc” thing wouldn’t work because they have no romantic connection to Kimules, only platonic. Taking over the Underworld could still work. The Moana one is kinda perfect for Austin Q in this AU, his parents are shitty. I could see the Tiana one happening with Alya if something happened to her friends or Nino so they weren’t around to act as an anchor. Sparky and I actually discussed the Merida one, and some version of it happens years down the line when Tomoe is assassinated for breaking off her daughter’s arranged marriage. And I could see Reshmabela snapping but she wouldn’t target the entire family, just her grandmother and everyone who was complacent or supportive of her actions. Her parents and sisters, and most others would be safe.
Hope that helps! (Most of these are purely hypothetical and don’t actually apply in the AU, with the exception of Kagami.)

no one hurts his princess
part 1
so tumblr keeps sending my stuff to the void on my phone so here am i :// only took like 100 tries–
anywayy heyyy i’ve decided to continue wat i’ve started not becuz i have a miilion and 3 ideas on how to annihilate liela hehehehe *sweats*
this is a messed up version of a chess game so evrything is unfair. think of it as liela didnt play fair so adrien doesnt either (also let’s pretend all the cat emojis are black cats)
alright here’s the downfall of one (1) liela rossi, or at least one of the many ways anyhow
🐱 Watch out Françoise Dupont, the pieces are set, now let the games begin. 🦊
School started normally enough, everyone encircling Lila, hanging onto her every word like it was their lifeline. The lying fox still dared to churn out stories of an extravagant life that she neverlived, even though sheknew her impending doom was approahing. Slowly, but surely. Chloe was with Sabrina by the other bench, muttering about how utterly ridiculous they were. As per routine, Marinette was shunned away, this time by expulsion.
However, what’s irregular about today was that Alya, who usually stuck nearby for the latest stories, now lingered by the stairs along with Nino, paying close attention to the stories Lila was spewing.
After stepping back, Alya realised that everything Marinette was accused of somhow revolved around Lila. As more thoghts raced within her brain, she turned towards her boyfriend.
“Hey babe, isn’t it weird that everything was about Lila and Marinette?”
“Yea. Come to think of it, doesn’t everything also come down to Marinette when Lila has some problems she’s afraid to voice out?”
Huh, Alya thought. He was right. Everytime Lila mentioned “Oh, I don’t want too be a bother but…”it always ended up being about Marinette. And they just accepted it. Alya felt guilty, but she couldn’t give much thought as she was busy writing down everything Lila was saying. She was going to fact check them later, given her newfound speculations. Again, it was something else to apologise to Marinette for, she mentally noted.
This continued until a few minutes before the final bell would ring.
Silence.
The whole school suddenly quietened down, feeling a chill that can’t be explained. Lila was still blabbering about who knows what, seemingly incapable of reading the mood.
Every waited with bated breath as a figure sauntered into the schoolyard in a fine suit. They were greeted with a sheepish smile, and a hand reaching up the back of his neck.
“Um… Why is everyone staring at me like that?”
Lila finally snapped out of her little bubble. Revelations hit her like a club to the head. She didn’t know his plans, so she would hold back; she would make a small move to test the waters.
“Adrien! Good to see you! Isn’t that the suit from yesterday’s photoshoot? Not to say you don’t look dapperin it but why are you wearing it to school? It’s a bit too… formla, isn’t it?” She giggled sweetly and batted her eyelashes, trying to muster up all the bravary that she could.
🦊 Pawn, 1 step forward.
Adrien looked down at his outfit outfit. Oh.
“Oh no, Lila. This was from two seasons ago. I had an early morning meeting and just forgot to change before rushing to school. Besides, my father would be most disappointed if I leaked an oufit beforeit’s release.”
The exchange seemed innocent enough, but anyone can feel the tension just radiating off of the two. Adrien looked like the pure sunshine he was, but if one looked closely, they can see that his smile was just a little forced, his grip on his bag a little too tight. No, there’s has to be some sort of hidden agenda here. Why else would he wear this to school? If only she had access to whatever he’s playing with. Lila didn’t trust the words coming out from his mouth. She’d seen him yesterday after all, and she was not going to back down. Just what was he hiding?
It was ironic really. Here Lila thought his momentary forgetfulness was some elaborate scheme, but it was really exactly how he told the story. No lies. He would be lying if he didn’t say it got the “I-mean-business” message across. Pun intended. His pride swelled when he could see Lila practically shrink under his gaze, plotting her steps. She splendidly maintained her composure in front of everybody, but not well enough to hide it from him. The cat in him was smirking in absolute delight at the sight. No doubt Plagg shared the same thoughts.
🐱 Pawn, 2 steps forward.
“Ah, I see. Well, you better collect your books from your locker before you’re late to class. See you there!” She tried her best to ignore the glint in his eye that only she could see. Both teens quickly parted ways from each other, one headed from the classroom to plan her next move, the other to the locker rooms waiting patiently for the time to strike. And to change. Every person in the schoolyard couldn’t help but shiver. Something huge was going to happen, and they weren’t sure if they want to find out.
Lila figured that she should garner the attention of the others first before her enemy arrives, get them to believe and defend her. Then she would have Adrien tucked by her side, keeping him from doing anything. Keep your knights close but you enemy closer.
🦊 Knight, 3 steps forward and 1 step left.
Adrien already knew that she wouldn’t fess up, knew that she would wait to play the game. He had knights of his own, them being Chloe, Sabrina and Kagami of course. Together, they used their connections and influence to make the necassary calls. Chloe glady called the mayor for some emergency appointments, while Kagami was peeved that her newest friend was hurt . Both hated Lila’s guts just as much. He knew her strategies from observations, so he did the same thing, avoiding her trap efficiently.
🐱 Knight, 3 steps forward and 1 step right.
The players had made their decisions and prepared their tricks, pieces strewn across the battlefield. One smart move brings you closer to winning, but the wrong one will lead to your downfall.
This was only the beginning.
so im not really sure if this is good and if i should continue this, but this is what i’ve got so far.
Pieces:
pawn- actions done by player/ person that makes “move” (e.g. expose a truth)(they’re not using them don’t worry it’s just a figure of speech??)
knight- essential parts of the plan. they defend/help behind-the-scenes.

Au where instead of jewerly, the Miraculous are their weapons.
So Marinette carries around a yo-yo in her purse, and Adrien has to carry his messenger bag with his cheerleader baton everywhere.
And of course Alya has to say she is taking flute classes.
And Ladybug gives a fucking sword to Kagami when recruiting her.
I could have said that they also have a camouflage mode, but where is the wacky hijinks in that?
"And bring me their Miraculous!"
"Why are you so obsessed with that girl's yo-yo? I can get you one at the dollar store with your favorite avenger"
"I don't want one with the avengers!"
"Fine, your favorite disney princess"

Life of a Hero Chapter 2
The whole world was black and white, Marinette unable to see anything through the colors. Damian was safe, he was okay, the driver missed him, but it didn't change the fact that he almost died because of them. She knew damn good and well that that little bugiarda almost killed an eight year old child on purpose just to get to her.
She slowly lowered herself to the ground, the adrenaline making her legs shake, the shaking getting worse when Alya started in on her, her voice decidedly panicked, "You know Lila didn't mean it, right, gurl? She'd never put a child in danger like that on purpose, she just tripped!" Marinette's vision cleared just enough to see Alya patting a sobbing Lila on the back and Damian standing in front of herself, his voice harder and harder to understand. Why did she need to calm down? What was the point in going the way she'd been going if it nearly got her cousin brother killed? What was the point in being a hero?
She could barely feel Damain holding onto her hand, both of them becoming distracted by the sudden force from an akuma entering her jacket, Papillon speaking into both her and Damian's minds.
"Dear Princess of Justice and her little Heir of Wrath, are you finally willing to accept my offer to be a living karma? To avenge your little sibling for the attempted murder and to defend your sister from disloyal friends? You already know what I want." The butterfly miraculous user cooed in their ears, increasing the temptation to accept his offer.
Marinette gritted her teeth, thinking of all the times she was Ladybug, defender of justice and yet defenseless herself. She thought of Damian, who's only crime had been walking with her. She thought of Lila and Adrien working together, of Alya leaping to their defenses no matter what they did or what the evidence said. Of her classmates either ignoring everything or actively taking Lila's side. Of Chat Noir leaving her to fight alone. Of Damian stealing a miraculous from the box because she was losing and there was no one to save her. She opened her eyes and saw the way Damian's eyes were furrowed in an effort to fight Papillon off and thought of the pain it had to be causing him. Even if she didn't do it for herself, he didn't deserve to suffer the pain of her emotions.
"Fine," she bit out, "I'll play your game. Just stop hurting him!" Her voice rose into a screech even as purple magic flowed over the both of them. Lila and Alya both stumbled back from the transformation, shocked by how different it was from usual. Instead of purple and black bubbles rushing down the akumatized person(s), Marinette and Damian had a soft purple light wash down them. Alya's eyes bugged out. She'd seen the akuma fly to them, so obviously they were akumatized, but the light was reminiscent of a miraculous transformation… Was… was Marinette Ladybug?! Alya barely had time to pull her phone out, Lila, in a rare case of showing common sense, grabbed her and booked it away from them.
"Lila! I need this for my blog! This can be big!" Alya shrieked.
Lila continued to drag the blogger forward before stopping several blocks away from the akuma, fumbling with the key to let her into her apartment. "Look, Alya," the Italian snapped, "I don't know how much you know about your little ex-friend, but she has the potential to be the most devastating akuma yet. I don't know who she and the kid with her will come out as, but I want nothing to do with it, especially since we will be their targets."
Alya gaped at her friend. "Why would we be targets! You didn't mean to push that kid! She knows that!"
Lila glared at the Cajun. "Yes, this is a time where it was an accident, but she's not going to believe that, especially since we're why the two of them got akumatized. Did you hear what she screamed before they transformed? They were both resisting and she said stop hurting him. That means the reason they're like this is because she doesn't want the kid hurt. We hurt the kid- I tripped and you defended me instead of helping her. You yourself have been bullying her for months. I figure they'll both be after you."
Alya stuck her hand on her hip, "Why do you keep referring to that boy as kid when you said Mari called him a him?"
Lila growled. "Look, I have my flaws, but that kid was wearing a skirt when the light faded. I don't know what their pronouns are. Maybe they're a boy, maybe a girl, maybe both, I don't know! What I do know is that we're in danger, now get in the cazzo apartment!"
Alya gaped at Lila and refused to move. "No! I want to know what's gotten int-" she was abruptly cut off when Lila grabbed her by the front of her shirt and yanked her forward.
"You have five seconds to get in here or I'm locking you out." The Italian hissed.
Alya scowled at Lila before pushing her away. "Fine! Hide in your apartment like the coward you are!" She spat, paying no mind to the deadbolt clicking as she ran back the way the akuma was. If she was right her blog was about to become huge!
~~~
Princess spent her first few minutes simply wrapped around Heir, rocking back and forth. People backed away slowly, not going near the strange akuma. This was the first time they'd seen a purple light envelope a victim, not to mention the butterflies.
"'Ukht." Heir breathed after the streets were clear. "We must move."
Princess nodded into Heir's shoulder. "We will find him first. The others can be dealt with later."
The pair stood, slowly making their way forwards, hardly noticing the butterflies around them fluttering off. People who had done good had good done back to them- so be it being healed, finding extra money to tide them over, or just having someone extend a hand to them. People who had done wrong found themselves facing bad luck, tripping over nothing, spilling their drink on themselves, everything short of death happened.
They were amazed that no one had ever thought to go to Papillon before. Were people truly that consumed by their revenge? That they would make no effort to help the heroes and cut off the villain at his source? The pull of the butterfly was strong, leading them across Paris. The only interruption came in the form of Chat Noir which, admittedly, did not last, the black cat's punishment being suffering from illusions- led on a chase through the city by his "partner" before suffering though the image of her rejecting him and taking his miraculous away- something that would be happening very soon regardless.
The Royals didn't hesitate in entering the mansion, foggy memories leaving them unsure of where exactly they were, though it didn't take long to figure out the secret code to enter the atrium Papillon hid in. The shocked expression Papillon held was glorious though their revelry didn't last long as he withdrew his Akuma from them. Marinette and Damian collapsed to the floor, the damage of their akumization being permanent since it was all mental, even as the magic faded and Papillon's transformation dropped.
Marinette struggled to compute what was going on for several minutes. This couldn't be true. No. Not Gabriel. She shook her head viciously but nothing changed. Her voice was hoarse when she finally spoke, "Why?"
Gabriel looked away. "Because, Ladybug, I need to save my wife. My son is… not the same without her. Felix isn't doing well. And we're under threat from Amilie. I need my wife to fix things, even if I need to trade myself for her."
Marinette bowed her head. "How about a deal? I try to find a way to heal her and you stop attacking Paris."
Gabriel cocked an eyebrow, "Or I keep going as I was and don't reveal your identity in return for efforts to find a cure. If I get the miraculi, then I make my wish. If you find the cure, I willingly give up both miraculi in my possession as well as the grimoire. If you don't, well as long as you look I'll keep your identity to myself. You have no proof I'm a villain and publicly stated I wasn't."
Marinette mumbled under her breath, "Stupid Chat and his fucking insistence."
Damian finally spoke himself, "Fucking?"
Marinette flushed bright red and squeaked, "Don't repeat that! It's a bad word that you should only use when really insulted!"
Gabriel blinked at the small child his arch nemesis had with her. "You must be the one that envisioned running me through with a sword and refused to give your pronouns."
Damian glared at the butterfly man. "Of course. You threatened my 'ukht."
"Damian! Eama said not to do that!" Marinette scolded him.
"Monsieur Butterfly Man," Damian purposely butchered his name, "could you kindly take a step outside Parisian city limits?"
Gabriel's eyes bugged out, he was sure giving in to this child would be a death sentence. "I have no business outside of Paris," Gabriel hoped he hid the way his voice shook well enough.
The child's response was simple, "Shame. Perhaps later, then."
Marinette glared at her brother before turning to Gabriel. "Fine. But you will limit the amount of akumas you make and answer to the school yourself about why I'm struggling." Gabriel glared at the child but agreed. He was sure he'd be forced into it anyways.
Akuma picture! This took hours!!!
could you do another fic where mari has too many overprotective relatives (batfam, jason in particular, adrien, luka, kagami, chloe, jagged, bruce, penny, clara, tony stark and the avengers maybe lol) and all the boys who want to date her are scared away by them until she starts seeing damian or someone else i love your writing and thanks! ♡♡
I loved this prompt immediately and I really hope I did it justice! Hope you like it!
The Never-Ending Cycle of First Dates
“No! Wait! He’s just kidding!” Marinette ran out of the building trying to grab the boy's hand before he could escape, but she was too late. Her hand slapped her forehead in defeat as yet another man hurried off before they could even order drinks. Turning her attention to where her target stood, she couldn’t help the bubbling anger directed at his smirk.
“Why must you ruin every date? It’s like you guys have a pool of names and you just reach in and see who's in luck to scare off the next guy that tries to date me!” She threw her hands into the air, only earning a chuckle.
“C’mon Princess, if the man can’t handle a little threat then how is he gonna stick around for the long term? Hmm?”
Marinette wanted to argue, but she knew it was pointless. Jason and the others were firm in their beliefs; Marinette must be protected from heartbreak at all costs. She tried arguing with them that if she never got hurt in the first place then she could never learn, but alas, her words seemed to fall on deaf ears.
“How did you even find us?”
Jason’s smirk widened which only fueled her rage.
“What? You thought meeting at the restaurant would actually change anything? I can find you anywhere and everywhere. Plus Adrien totally snitched.”
Marinette made a mental note to lay into Adrien later after she found the poor kid that Jason scared of.
“One day I’m going to find someone who isn’t scared by you lot and he’s gonna make it through the first date.”
She turned her back on Jason’s boisterous laughter. She was determined to prove her point. After all, there had to be one man in Gotham City that wasn’t afraid of her, right? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The rest of her week had gone as smoothly as Monday had to say the least.
Tuesday’s date was crashed by Kagami’s foil. One look at her slicing the bread and he didn’t even make it to the table.
Wednesday’s date was a double date with Luka and Chloe. Marinette begged Tikki to lend her a little luck, but the small God would do no such thing. At least this guy made it past drinks. Marinette almost cheered until Luka donned his infamous stare. She watched as her date squirmed uncomfortably before excusing himself for the bathroom, never returning.
Thursday’s date ended with the man strung up by his ankles, none other than Nightwing and Red Robin dropping in to apologize, claiming they thought he was trying to mug her.
By Friday, she was ready to cancel her date before it even began.
“Adrien, you guys are making it impossible to even think about dating.” She collapsed on the couch, letting out a small whine.
“I think that’s kind of the point Mari, besides, you’re a working woman now, shouldn’t you be focusing on your career-”
Adrien paused as his eyes narrowed in on Marinette’s hand mocking his lecture. Her hand paused as she noticed his now silent voice. Meeting his eyes, she simply shrugged.
“You sound like my mom. She’s worried that I’m too worried about dating but guess what? I kind of missed out on that experience in high school pining after a guy who wasn’t even interested!”
They both chuckled as they remembered the awkward dance they both did from the time they were 13.
“So what are you going to do about the date tonight?”
Marinette shrugged once more as she pulled at a piece of her hair, twirling it around her finger.
“Who is on date duty tonight?”
“First of all, it’s not called date duty,” he waved off the pointed look Marinette gave him before continuing, “and it was supposed to be Jagged and Penny but in case they fail, Tony is on backup duty and Jason is on backup, backup duty.”
“Not date duty my ass.”
Marinette sighed longingly as she pulled herself into a sitting position.
“I’m giving this one more chance before I swear off dating forever.”
Adrien chuckled before offering his hand to pull her into a standing position.
“Well, guess you better prepare to look good. After all, they always say if you’re gonna go out, at least do it in style.”
Marinette rolled her eyes as she pushed Adrien to the couch, ignoring his protests. If this was going to be her last date, then maybe he had a point of going out in style.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  .
Marinette pulled at her dress nervously as a black limo approached her outside of her apartment. She had checked the perimeter once as Marinette and once more as Ladybug; there was no sign of Jagged or Penny. Somehow though, that didn’t calm her nerves.
As the limo pulled to a stop, a man stepped out of the back seat causing her breath to hitch in her throat. As if him being drop-dead gorgeous wasn’t enough, her worst fears stepped out from behind him, wide grins on their faces.
“Oi, there she is Penny! Marinette, we tried calling you but you sent us straight to voicemail, that wasn’t very rock n’ roll of you. Luckily, this nice man right here was there to give us a ride, right Penny?”
Penny nodded sweetly as if the two of them were innocent victims of Marinette’s forgetfulness. She wanted to turn right back into her apartment and never leave again, but a small hand grasped hers, pulling it up to their lips, as soft and gentle as his movements.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Marinette Dupain-Cheng. I have heard many stories of you from my brothers and father. You seem to have impressed many powerful people such as the two strays I picked up off the streets earlier.”
His smile was playful as it coaxed a small laugh from her. It helped even more to see Jagged panicking in the background at the sight of the small gesture. This man, no, his name was Damian. Damian had already broken through the first wall without even knowing it. Marinette let herself feel a spark of hope at the thought of finally making it through a first date.
“Anywho, now that we have arrived, I must apologize for leaving you two here, how does the saying go? ‘High and dry?’ but I do have a date to continue.” He nodded to Penny and Jagged leaving them both with their jaws almost touching the ground.
If she had a moment, Marinette might’ve taken a photo, but she instead quickly grabbed Damian’s arm, shutting the limo door before either could protest. She didn’t bother to release the breath she had been holding until the apartments were gone from the rearview mirror.
“I am so sorry about them, they-” she tried to let the apology spill out of her mouth but Damian simply shook his head, that same playful smile monopolizing his face.
“I am fully aware of the so-called ‘date duty’ your friends have. After all, my brother is in charge of the scheduling.”
It was Marinette’s turn for her jaw to drop. This was Jason’s brother? The literal spawn of satan as Jason had put it. There was no way. He was so nice, and such a gentleman, there was no way they could be the same person.
“How come nobody ever told me you were in town? Last time Jason introduced me to the family, he made sure to wait for when you left on a business trip. I’ve only ever been invited over when you’re not there!”
Damian chuckled as if this was a normal occurrence.
“They knew I had a crush on you ever since I watched your alter ego take down an akuma three times your size. It was only a matter of time until I asked you out, but with Jason observing your every date, he made it quite difficult.”
Marinette felt her face flush as his words washed over her. A man that was actually interested in her and was willing to take on the trouble a date with her could mean? She lightly pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming.
“You know it’s only going to get worse from here right? Like, Jagged and Penny were only the first round worse.”
Damian leaned in, placing his hand overtop hers, that smile of his killing her slowly.
“Can I tell you a secret?”
Marinette nodded as she leaned closer, nearly closing the gap between them, her heart racing from the distance.
“I borrowed his rotation schedule and have prepared for every incident that could occur tonight.”
Marinette couldn’t help the words that slipped out of her mouth.
“I think I might love you.” Immediately she slapped her hand over her mouth letting out a string of apologies as she scooched away from the red-faced man. He cleared his throat, trying to overcome his shock as his smile pulled into a small smirk.
“Don’t apologize, just tell me again if you feel the same after we’ve finished the date.”
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Somehow, they managed to make it through dinner without a single hiccup. It was suspicious, but she was having too good of a time to care. She fell in love immediately with his animals as he showed off his many photos, commenting on whichever one seemed to make her melt the most.
They talked about where they had gone to college, where they were working now and what they were hoping for their futures. Marinette felt her heart swell with excitement for how compatible they were, it almost made tonight ending that much more painful.
As they stepped out of the restaurant, Marinette heard a familiar voice that made her blood run cold.
“Do you know who I am? I could buy this whole place and then you’d have to let me in! I’m the damn Ironman, doesn’t that count for something?”
The poor hostess was shaking her head, trying to apologize to the other guests for the wait he was causing. Marinette let out a defeated sigh as she took a step forward to intervene, but Damian’s hand intertwined with hers pulling her in the opposite direction.
“There aren’t too many places in Gotham City that Tony Stark isn’t banned from. However, you can thank my father for that. He agreed for me to host my dinner at his restaurant to nullify backup number 2, Tony Stark.”
Marinette almost wanted to laugh at the irony of a billionaire being banned from a small Italian restaurant in Gotham.
“There’s not much that Uncle Tony can’t fix by throwing money at it, but I suppose that’s pointless when it’s another billionaire causing the said problem.”
Damian sent her a wink that warmed her to her core. They decided to ditch the limo in favor of walking home, spending more time with each other coincidentally. Marinette felt her mind racing like she was in middle school once again planning her imaginary wedding and their future hamster.
He was everything she had hoped to find in a man and so much more. She honestly regretted not meeting him sooner, it would’ve saved her so much trouble over the years.
She opened her mouth, only to close it immediately as her eyes narrowed in on a figure leaning against her apartment building.
“Jason, what are you doing here? There’s no date to ruin now and I finally found a guy who can’t be scared off by your stupid date duty.”
She crossed her arms in defiance but Jason paid her no mind.
“Damian, I didn’t know you were home so soon. I would’ve locked you up in the Batcave to make sure this would’ve never happened.”
Damian scoffed beside her as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
“As if you could.”
The two men were locked in a staredown, leaving Marinette to wilt in the tension that had formed. She moved towards her apartment, only to be stopped by Damian’s hand for the third time tonight.
Turning her back to Jason, she watched as he brought her hand to his lips, his kiss still as gentle and soft as the first when he had given her hours earlier. She ignored Jason’s protest as she pulled his hand forward placing a quick peck on his lips.
The man’s face matched her own in shades of red.
“Does this mean you would be interested in a second date?”
Marinette nodded furiously before waving him goodnight, darting past Jason’s brooding figure.
“This is not the end of it Marinette!”
Jason’s threats felt empty compared to the excitement racing in her heart. She had finally broken the cycle of never-ending first dates and boy, did it feel good.
Princess and Knight AU - Marichat
Day 8 of @marichatmay. This fic is available here on AO3.
Prompt: Princess and Knight Lady and Samurai AU
Summary: In feudal Japan, Ladybug and Chat Noir are samurai, sworn to protect Lady Kagami. Neither of them know each other’s true identity: servants Marinette and Adrien. One night, Lady Kagami’s castle is ambushed by Hawkmoth’s army. Caught off guard, Marinette wakes to Chat Noir saving her. Now, they just have to save Kagami.
Marinette woke to a scream and the crackle of flames. She rose quickly, covering her nose with her arm to fend off the smoke. Her eyes blinked through the haze of sleep, focusing on the wooden walls around her.
“Marinette!”
She heard him through the thin door. Marinette scrambled to her feet and shoved her weight against the sliding wood. “Chat Noir!” she half yelled, half coughed. As her senses returned to her, she could hear the cries of soldiers outside the castle walls.
“Stand back, Marinette!” She obeyed, and in moments, Chat Noir burst through the door. As always, he wore his scaled black armor and cat mask. One of his hands rested on the sword at his hip, the other extended towards Marinette. “We have to go, now!”
“What’s happening?” Marinette gasped, taking his hand. He led her into the hallway, the smoke hanging like a thick fog in the air, illuminated by flames. They passed empty rooms with belongings scattered inside. Occasionally, she could make out a servant running at the ends of the halls.
“It’s Hawkmoth,” Chat Noir said through gritted teeth. “His army ambushed us in the middle of the night.”
Unable to keep up with his fast pace, Marinette stumbled. Chat Noir stopped in his tracks. “You’re too slow; get on my back.”
Marinette no sooner linked her arms around his neck when Chat Noir broke into a run. She squeezed her eyes shut against the fumes. “Where’s Lady Kagami?”
“The tower. That’s where we’re going now,” he called back to her.
Ahead of them, part of the wall collapsed, revealing the trees just outside the castle walls. Marinette caught a glimpse of Hawkmoth’s army through the leaves. The swordsmen swarmed like flies while the archers nocked their arrows. Chat Noir sprinted past the gaping hole, and Marinette heard the thud of arrows sinking into the wood where they had stood only a second before.
“I can’t find Ladybug,” Chat Noir continued, leaping over fiery debris. “She must be with Lady Kagami.” His voice dropped as he muttered, “She must be…”
Marinette felt a flood of guilt. Chat Noir had no idea that she was Ladybug, his fellow samurai. He was wasting time defending her when they were supposed to be protecting Lady Kagami. She cursed herself for her failure, for sleeping through the attack.
“What about Adrien?” Marinette asked. They turned a corner and the tower came into view.
“He escaped with the servants,” Chat Noir said dismissively. He bolted for the stairs, taking them two or three at a time. Marinette was too on edge to be impressed by his stamina.
They ascended into the highest room of the tower. Arrows were lodged into the walls, small bursts of fire beginning to consume the wood. The room was empty except for Lady Kagami, sitting slumped with her back against an ornate dragon tapestry. An arrow bloomed from her shoulder, a splotch of red spreading on the fabric beneath her simple plated armor. To the unknown, she could have been any average soldier. She looked up at them as they entered, a thin trail of blood leaking from her mouth.
“Lady Kagami!” Chat Noir and Marinette said in one voice. In a breath, they were on either side of her. Marinette began to tear at her own clothes to bandage the wound, but Kagami waved her hand.
“Thank you… Chat Noir… for bringing her to me…” Kagami’s voice, usually even and stoic, had a shakiness to it.
“Of course, my lady,” he said. “Please, we must leave before the castle burns down.”
Marinette added, “We have to get you help! Your wound-”
“It’s too late...” Kagami breathed raggedly. “For me… Marinette.” She lifted her hand, still stained with blood, and placed it on Marinette’s shoulder. “Listen to me. I need you to do something.”
“Anything, my lady,” Marinette said, covering Kagami’s wrist with her hand.
“Hawkmoth can never know... that I died…”
A pained gasp left Marinette’s lips. “My lady, no!”
“Shh…” Kagami shifted, the act eliciting a wince. “You and I are… close enough in age…” Kagami removed a wrapped pouch from under her armor. “Here is some money… And the crest of my family…”
Chat Noir’s eyes widened. “What are you saying, my lady?”
“Marinette,” Kagami murmured, holding Marinette’s gaze. “You must take my place. You must pretend to be me… Gather my mother’s forces… And avenge me… Promise me that you will do this.”
Tears flowed freely down Marinette’s cheeks. “But-”
“Promise me.”
Marinette locked her jaw while the rest of her body trembled. “I… I promise.”
“Good.” Kagami turned to Chat Noir. “I have not seen Ladybug since the attack began. I… I fear the worst for her... However, if you do find her, know that you are both sworn to Marinette now. You must protect her.”
Chat Noir stared at Kagami. “My lady…”
“Protect her.” Kagami leaned back, grunting against the pain. “That is my last request of you both.”
A wooden beam creaked angrily above them. Kagami grimaced. “You must leave now. Before the castle...”
“No, we… we can’t.” Marinette took her hand in hers, brushing her tear-stained cheek across Kagami’s knuckles.
Kagami smiled at her, a rare expression. Her last word was not the order of a lady, but the request of a friend. “Go,” she said softly.
***
The violet dawn mingled with the distant orange of the burning castle. The building itself was hidden behind rows of forested hills, the sun beginning to creep into view in the horizon. For the entire night, Marinette had wondered if the sun would even rise today. It seemed bold of the rest of the world to move on, as if her own had not collapsed in flame.
She stood with Chat Noir at her side. In the meadow behind them, their black horse grazed, finally allowed to rest after the night’s frantic escape.
“Marin- I mean, my lady?”
Marinette glanced at Chat Noir.
“I…” He lowered himself to his knees, bowing before her. “I want you to know that I’ll never let anything happen to you. As Lady Kagami ordered, I pledge to keep you safe and to never tell anyone our secret. Please know that-”
“Stop.”
He jolted as Marinette collapsed in front of him, her head in her hands. “Stop,” she repeated, shoulders shaking. “Not yet. I’m not… ready.”
Chat Noir stared at her. “My lady?”
“Don’t!” Marinette yelled. “I’m not her, I… How am I supposed to do this? Any of this. I’m just a peasant girl from nowhere, how can I live up to her?” She shuddered, tears flowing down her face. “And now listen to me, I sound so selfish…”
“You’re not,” he said quietly. He reached out a hand to comfort her, then decided against it. “Please, stop crying, Marinette.”
She froze, her breath hitching. “Say it again.”
“Please?”
“No,” she said, lifting her head to meet his eyes. “My name. Say my name.”
His expression softened. “Marinette.”
She sniffled a few times, then lunged at him. Her arms linked around him in an embrace as she wept into the black armor. He stayed still for a moment, then surrendered into her touch, holding her close. Tears sprang to his eyes. “Shh, it’s okay, Marinette.”
“It’s not though,” she said between sobs. “She’s gone. Our lady… our friend is...”
They stayed in each other’s arms for a long moment. Neither want to speak the truth, as if putting it off was still possible. Marinette whispered against his shoulder, “I know… I know I have to do this. But what if I can’t, Chat?”
“You can.” He pulled back and cupped her jaw with his gloved hand. “You know why?”
She shook her head.
“Because I’ll be right by your side. I’ll protect you, Marinette. Lady or not, I swear myself to you.”
Marinette searched his green eyes. Something about them seemed so familiar. She took a deep, shaky breath. “We need to return to that stream. The one at the bottom of this hill.”
“Of course,” he said, helping her to her feet.
Marinette knelt in front of the flowing water, staring at her ever changing reflection. Her hair looked exactly like Kagami’s, black with a cobalt tint, except that Marinette’s hair was longer. Their face shapes were similar, and they even shared a light dusting of freckles. The most noticeable difference was their eyes; Kagami’s were a deep amber, while Marinette’s were blue.
Marinette held the pouch in her hands, the one that Kagami had given her. She slowly untied the strings, frowning at the assortment of belongings: a coin pouch, a dragon pattern sash, a decorative boxwood comb, and a dagger. Marinette held up the last one, frowning at the intricate design of the hilt.
She pulled her hair to the side, holding the blade at the place where Kagami’s hair had ended. Marinette inhaled deeply, then sliced through her locks with a quick cut. She watched as her discarded hair landed in the stream, flowing away and catching on the rocks.
Marinette stood, turning to Chat Noir. She straightened her spine, mimicking Kagami’s perfect posture. She lifted her chin, and said in a stern tone, “Let’s keep moving.”
Chat Noir bowed to her. “As you wish, my lady.”
Helping out Grandfather Rolland
Tumblr media
This story was inspired by this year’s zodiac animal and Kitchen Princess volume 5’s side story.
Marinette decides to work at her grandfather’s bakery as a summer job and learn new tricks. Her parents are willing but Tom warns Marinette that his Father is a strict and stubborn old man.
Rolland is agreeable to hiring his granddaughter for the summer and teaches Marinette how to bake new types of bread and pastries.
For some reason, there are not many customers. Actually...there aren’t any.
Marinette is confused why this is so because the bread is good.
Rolland admits he kept correcting his customers’ behavior and they haven’t returned since.
Marinette: 😓
Marinette gets her friends to distribute flyers to advertise. Adrien definitely brings in the most customers.
Chloe doesn’t deign to visit bakeries. Lila, however, is interested. Anything to get Adrien away from Marinette appeals to her.
Before she enters the shop, Lila sees Adrien talking to Marinette through the window. Apparently he drops by whenever he can.
Frustrated, Lila starts to plot Marinette’s downfall again.
One day, Rolland is furious to receive a letter from the health inspector that because of complaints about a rodent problem, the bakery will be shut down and Rolland will have to pay a fine.
Marinette is very upset because how dare that health inspector insult Cindy, Snowy and Giselle!
Hawkmoth akumatizes Rolland into Bakerix once more.
Big fight. Heroes win.
Before the battle, Bakerix attacks the health inspector. Once the heroes win, Rolland apologizes and Ladybug convinces the health inspector to allow the baker to defend himself.
Helps comes from expected and unlikely sources. First is Adrien. Adrien asked Max to find out who complained about the bakery because Marinette reported all their customers were satisfied and some even found the clean mice cute.
Max is hesitant to use Markov but the latter is already hacking into the health inspector’s phone calls and emails. Markov reports that all the complains came from one source: Lila Rossi
This angers Adrien and makes Max realize the truth.
But really it is Mr Ramier who defends the mice. The health inspector recognizes the infamous Mr Pigeon and doesn’t want to be pooped on by the birds so he quickly retracts the case after it is proven the mice are hygienic.
The class holds a celebration. At the party, Max exposes Lila's lies to the class, and Adrien backs him up. The 2 had hatched a plot to avenge Marinette. They can’t reveal Lila was the complainer without implicating themselves, but they can expose her for her other lies.
In their concocted story, Adrien had ‘accidentally’ let slip that Lila doesn’t know Ladybug, and hence Max did a thorough search.
Lila is cornered and runs off crying. When she accepts the akuma, Markov was filming her, and Chat quickly took the surprised villain’s necklace and destroyed it. Ladybug soon arrives to cleanse the butterfly.
Max shows the video evidence to Lila. When Lila begs them not to report her, Markov reveals he already sent it to the police. They cannot risk having an ally of Hawkmoth’s in the city.
Lila is thrown out of Paris in disgrace. Her mother is embarrassed to have been out of the loop for so long.
To be honest, Markov and Max weren’t expecting anything like this. But Adrien informed them that he had asked Chat to watch out for akumas once Lila was exposed. He wasn’t that surprised that Lila was working with Hawkmoth after Oniichan.
Markov was just recording it because he figured Alya would be interested. She is, and made a big apology to Marinette and her followers.
Gabriel cut off ties with the disgraced Lila.
Marinette’s bakery increases a boost in customers when Chat Noir is seen eating one of their pastries.
Bio!Mom Max Black Headcanons
Two Broke Girls x MLB crossover
Based on this
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Caroline's movie about her life story was starting production Caroline finally had the courage to tell Max how she felt
The two dated for 4 months before Max decided they should marry
Mostly because she's known Caroline for so long that she literally knows she wants her as her wife
They were going to elope but Caroline told her dad which ended with Max being told by Martin he wanted his princess to be properly married
Sophie helped with the wedding not caring about the price
Caroline and Max got married at the prison where Martin was in so that Martin can give away Caroline and watch her get married
Of course, the news and paparazzi got wind of it and so much to Max's annoyance, the wedding was live streamed
They decided to just add the other's last name instead of one taking the other's
Caroline wore this with her hair in small side braid
Tumblr media
Max wore this with her hair in a bun with a few curls framing her face.
Tumblr media
Earl walked Max down the "isle"
Martin fought the urge to cry seeing his only daughter get married
He was glad that it was Max really
After a year of being married Caroline quietly mumbled as they cuddled
"Do you think about having kids?"
After a bit of talking they decided to use a sperm donor although, her twin cousin Darcy was able to get Bruce Banner to use both Max and Caroline eggs and the sperm donor to make the baby
Caroline was the one to carry the baby
A month before the baby was born their business boomed because of Caroline's movie and they eventually had a good business
They have a baby girl who they name Marinette Cathy Channing-Black
She had Caroline's eyes and Max's hair
Of course, Sophie wants to be the godmother, but Max puts her foot down that it would most likely be her cousin
Much to Caroline's shock Tony Stark is their daughter's godfather
Pepper is her godmother
As Marinette grows up she likes to watch her mom bake
She learns Korean from her uncle Han
Earl babysits whenever her moms are busy
Earl is her grandpa who she and Max consider him her dad
The cupcake business rises and they're very successful
Caroline is glad they finally left the crappy apartment
Caroline eventually is told by her father that she has an uncle who lives in Paris
It's Gabriel Agreste
Caroline is an Agreste in her mother's side really
And that he's the half sibling of Audrey Bourgeois
Audrey made Andre take her last name
Basically making her a Bourgeois through her father
This is when Mari is 13 years old and they decide to expand the cupcake business to Paris, France
Marinette is both excited and annoyed to move mostly because she won't be around to annoy uncle Tony or any of the Avengers
Marinette was almost the spitting image of her mother Max from her pale complexion to her hair, but she had Caroline's eyes and physic
When they get to Paris Caroline sets a meeting with both Gabriel and Audrey
Of course the two are shocked at the news that they're related through marriage
The reason being because Caroline's mom is Gabriel's sister and Martin is Audrey's older half brother
Making both of them Marinette's great uncle/aunt
And basically making two certain blondes her cousins
As well a certain cousin of said one of the blondes
Marinette is a mix of both her moms
She's sweet but very sarcastic and just...kinda like Max
The small Channing-Black family live in a decent comfortable home, not too flashy
Audrey brings Chloé over and Chloé is shocked to hear she has relative, she's somewhat excited
And Chloé is just...shocked to find out she's related to Adrien, her Adrikins before smiling widely
Chloé actually isn't a bully, she acts like it in school to see how far the stupid teacher would let it go and after she's mean to the ones she was she informs the person on what she was doing so as they don't feel bad
Surprisingly it's a lot and she's getting annoyed that Ms. Bustier won't at least do shit
On the first day of school when the Akuma strikes, much to her surprise Chloé freezes and pees herself before shielding herself behind Mari
"This sounds oddly familiar," the ravenette says giggling before scowling, "hey!"
The akuma strikes before Chloé has a chance to introduce her cousins because Adrien couldn't make it
Mari doesn't get the ladybug miraculous bc she just moved
Doesn't stop Master Fu from giving her the Cat Miraculous
She names herself Chat de Ruelle, Alley Cat
She doesn't keep it a secret from her moms who instantly tells Tony who comes whenever he can to help her train
Her outfit as Chat is similar to Lady Noir but her curls are in a messy bun and her mask covers her whole face except her mouth
It also has body armor and spikes on her wrists, tail, and elbows
She got Caroline's clumsiness but mostly that she has things fall on her or anything really but shes's not overly clumsy
On the second day of school she meets Adrien and she and Chloé practically ambush him and tell him that they're related
This makes Adrien happy but is somewhat confused before Mari informs him on how so
Mari is basically done with Ms. Bustier on the first day, complains to her moms who basically storm into the classroom to give her a piece of their mind
Does not help that Chloé turned in the evidence to the school board
Ms. Bustier quits before being informed she is not allowed to teach at all anymore
Adrien does become friends with Nino but not with Alya since Mari sits behind Chloé and Sabrina
Mari only becomes friends with Nathaniel and Nino
As the 3 cousins hang out she basically takes them wherever and causes trouble to the delight of her mom Max and to Caroline's concern
Caroline, Max, and Amilie basically threaten Gabriel to treat Adrien better
Although, Caroline and Max instantly adopt him
Max, Mari's mom, told Adrien that he reminded her of those two Amish boys who stayed with them for a week at the apartment
Chestnut came too by the way
Adrien doesn't flirt with Chat while he is Mister Bug because they're bffs
Max's cupcake shop is outside the school because Caroline wanted Mari to go to Dupont
Alya and Lila Salt
Alya is never told by Mari what her last name is, she usually doesn't pay attention to anyone else's name once her name is called but Mari has told her cousins and friend when addressing her to go by Black
So to the rest of the class she's known as Marinette Black
So she of course doesn't get an interview with Mister Bug because Chat told him not to because she doesn't trust the girl, she screams of wanting to be famous no matter what
Alya doesn't care for cupcakes the audacity
When Lila comes around she speaks about being a family friend of the Channing family
Bad luck for her is that Max and Caroline came to drop of Marinette at school much to her embarrassment
And Max basically ripped the Rossi girl a new one not caring who watched
Alya is shocked to see THE Caroline Channing at school
"How do you know Caroline Channing and Max Black? The great cupcake bakers?!" she screeches to Mari
"I'd like it if you don't speak to our daughter that way Ms. Césaire, please? We don't tolerate harassment from tabloid reporters," Caroline says gently while Max eyes the glasses wearing girl
"D...daughter?" Alya stutters before glaring at Marinette who rolls her eyes
"You're looking at me as if I killed your dog, they're my moms. My whole name is Marinette Cathy Channing-Black."
Everyone in the class sort of new because they always went to the cupcake shop after school
Lila does try her shit but Mari shrugs her off
Lila tries to hang off of Adrien but both Caroline and Max shut that shit down and tell Gabriel to get a restraining order on the Rossi girl as well a threat of lawsuit
Might make more and make this Maribat really idk yet
Audacity Ch 2
Chapter 1       Next
“You bastard! I lost a year of my life because of you.” Marinette screamed, rising out of Damian’s arms. Adrien took a step back, alarm and awareness flashed in his eyes. “You took the earrings and you wished to not be alone, knowing the cost! You wanted your mother back so badly you wished for her to never slip into a coma. Did you think about the price of that wish? Someone else’s mother in return, did you think about that before making the wish? Clearly you didn’t because now that I remember that night, I know that my mother was the cost. Your mother is still alive because you were selfish and wanted to keep your family together at the expense of someone else’s. Not to mention your other wish; for me to love you. You were so selfish to wish away my free will? You turned me into your puppet, stringing me along, cancelling plans knowing that the wish was still intact, and I couldn’t leave you. You’re a monster Adrien Agreste.”
Damian could only stare at the different person Marinette had suddenly become. She wasn’t entirely different actually; it was more as if she had finally pulled the wool from her eyes like she was finally seeing Agreste for what he truly was.
“I love you milady-” Adrien started, cut off by Marinette’s scoff.
“Well that’s a shame because I don’t love you. That’s just a lie you made up. You took a page right from Lila’s book, well here is the ending: it’s over.” Marinette snarled, the rage in her eyes made Adrien back away. Damian confused, gaped in awe as she towered over him, she was an avenging angel he mused. She stormed off and stopped at the end of the street before turning back around and headed back to them.
“The earrings Adrien, give them back. Actually, you know what, give me the ring as well. I can’t leave them with you as can’t be trusted to be a hero and I don’t want to give you a chance to re-do the wish.”
“Sorry, princess no can do. I won’t lose you over a little mistake.”
“A little mistake? You actively chose to make those wishes, hell, it wasn’t a little mistake, you manipulated me before you even made the wishes. By god it wasn’t a little wish either, you traded a life for your mother’s. You have to live with the guilt and shame of that Adrien and of course you’d view it as a small mistake as well. You’re a self-centered coward with no regards for anyone else. You cost me my mother and my free will.” Marinette spat, she was seething, and she wasn’t thinking when she threw a punch at Adrien, hitting him in the stomach, she’ll admit that, but it felt nice to express her rage towards him.
When he doubled over from the pain, she saw the glint of the ring on his hand and quickly rips the ring form his finger.  Marinette scanned Adrien, looking for the earrings. They weren’t on him. Leaving Adrien on the ground, she headed for the Agreste Mansion, she has some searching to do.
*~*~*~*
His room was empty, there was no trace of the miraculous and she knows she tore his room apart looking for them. Her earrings were missing, and Adrien was gone. She doubled back after trashing Adrien’s room, Damian was still sitting there where she left him, but Adrien was gone. As soon as she stepped back into Damian’s line of sight, he bombarded her with questions.
“I’ll answer whatever questions you have back at my house, I don’t want to stay in the open with Adrien on the loose right now.”
Nodding his head in agreement, Damian followed Marinette to her house. It was a relatively short walk except that the air between them was tense, the questions waiting to boil over. When they arrived at her house it had calmed a small amount as she could tell he could see the sadness spilling over as she greeted her father. After settling down on the settee in her room, Damian asked all the question that had summed up all other questions on their walk over.
“What was all that?”
“Adrien used magical jewelry, the miraculous, to wish for his mother to never fall into a magical coma and for me to love him and only him. Obviously magic comes with a price, the price for his mother to never fall into a coma was someone else’s mother dies. The wish guaranteed that I would have an inkling that all of it was his fault. The price for my love was that if he revealed his true colors, which he did, I would remember everything.”
“What the fuck?”
“Welcome to my life.”
“Can’t you just undo the wish when you get the earrings though?”
“I could, but there’s no telling if the wish would honor the previous timeline. There’s already a large difference here in Paris. Since Emilie never fell into the coma, Gabriel, her husband never became Hawkmoth. Which means there are no supervillains in Paris now. That is a huge shift and if I did make the wish, what’s to stop the wish from taking someone else’s mother in return for mine? I won’t be like Adrien, not if I can help it.”
They sat in silence for a moment before Marinette got up and started pulling out supplies from around her desk. Damian sat entranced as she started crafting what looked like a replica of the ring she took. It didn’t take long for her to finish crafting it either.
“Why are you crafting a replica?” Damian questioned. Marinette had to hold in the laugh at the awe and curiosity written on his face, it was amusing. He was normally very reserved with his appearances, the only time she’s seen any kind of expression was when he mentioned his brothers and the annoyances they were.
“Because I’m giving you the ring to hide from Adrien. I’m hoping to fool him with the fake one. He won’t play by any rules we set. They’re all his own and if we’re hoping to get the earrings back, we have to beat him at his own game.” She replied, ignoring the shocked expression that crossed his face.
“No, I can’t take the only thing that offers you protection.”
“You can and you will, because if he gets ahold of this ring while he still has those earrings, he will re-do the wish. There’s no telling how fucked up the timeline will be after that.”
She heard a sigh of exasperation as she turned around and saw his glare leveled at her. She tossed him the ring, which he caught with ease.
“Fine. I’ll take the ring to keep it hidden from the jackass.”
“Thank you.”
“Get going before he shows up, I don’t imagine it’ll take long either. He has the earrings, so he’ll be traveling by rooftops.”
“Great, that means watch for shadows above me.” Damian muttered as he was getting up. “I’m going to drop by later to check in on you. Don’t argue with me on this. I’ll hide the ring before I do.”
She nodded in understanding as she ushered him out of the bakery. Depositing the ring in the diary box, she sat at her desk and waited for Adrien to show up.
It wasn’t until after roughly a half hour that Adrien had made his appearance. He had pulled her flush against himself. She put up a fight not willing to be held by him, she was stomping on his feet, elbowing him wherever she could but nothing she did affected him.
“Let me go.” She spat, livid that his hold hadn’t budged.
“Aw, but you used to beg for me to hold you like this. Give me the ring princess.”
“No and stop calling me pet names.”
He gripped her waist tighter while mumbling to himself, but she couldn’t quite make out what. She could tell when Adrien spotted, pun not intended, the diary box. His body language changed. She knew that he remembered the year he erased with his wish, so he would know that she uses it to keep various objects safe. She feigned worry as his eyes skimmed over it then her.
He grinned, let her go and rushed forwards in the direction of the box. Her pleas ignored as he tried to open the box. She could tell he was growing frustrated as the box wouldn’t open for him.
“Open the box Marinette.”
“You’re a big boy, you can do it yourself.” She sassed, not thinking. She didn’t see the fist flying towards her face, but she felt the pain as he connected with her chin. Blearily looking at him as she fell to the floor.
“So sorry princess, but I said I wasn’t going to lose you due to a little mistake.” He crooned as he knelt in front of her. “I’m going to go take care of your little friend though. I said no one was coming between us and I meant it.”
“Then I wish you the best of luck, asshole.” She mumbled, watching his figure retreat through the open skylight before she passed out.
Daminette AU idea part 2
The Dinner, The Hero
Marinette agrees, so long as she can bring Captain along, and as long as she's not working that evening and they settle the date for Friday evening. Now he knows her past and he's furious with Paris and wants to protect her even more. But he also doesn't want to treat her differently because he's terrified that when she finds out he's a Wayne, she'll freak out.
Marinette makes BatFam macaroons for the dinner, puts Captain on a leash, and puts all the Miraculous jewels into her purse and the kwami all seal into their jewels before she goes down to meet Damian, who took a nondescript car with his father to pick her up. Bruce is very careful with his movements, and it tips her off that they all know about her past, but she's grateful that she doesn't have to be as on guard, especially with Captain being as protective as he is. When they drive towards the city limits she's not freaking out because she knew Damien was well off but when she sees Wayne manor she does have an internal freak out (because how the hell did she NOT know, but she sees Damien worrying and she realizes that he definitely looked her up before today so they could make sure she's not a threat, so she takes his hand and smiles. So they get to the Manor and Alfred opens the door to greet them. But Dusuu senses her old bird, her last good memory before Hawkmoth and she flies out of her purse and hugs Alfred's cheek, crying how much she missed him. Everyone is having a private freak out now (because Bruce and Damien are both thinking "what the f*** is that?" and Marinette is freaking out because "dammit Dusuu, be more careful! Now what am I supposed to tell them?!" and Alfred is so happy, because loosing Dusuu has been haunting him for decades and he's so happy she's okay and back).
"can we take this inside before I explain?" Marinette asks quietly, and Damien takes her hand, smiles, and leads the way inside. Alfred snaps back to butler mode and takes her impressive leather jacket, and the macaroons, and leads the way to the family room where everyone (Stephanie, Barbara, Cassandra, Dick, Jason and Tim) and everyone is looking at Dusuu like "wtf". Bruce introduces his family and Damien introduces Marinette (who, when she sees Dick knows he's Nightwing and realizes they're all in the business and how lucky are they that they have so much support!). She is about to explain when Alfred takes the lead surprisingly and explaining his time with Dusuu during the army and how he lost her in a mission. He explains about the magical ability she holds and what she represents. Dusuu is just on cloud nine to be reunited with her favorite ever birdie and won't let go of him. So Marinette hands over the broach and smiles, saying that when the time comes, she will be taking it back, since she is the guardian of the box. Tikki jumps out at that point and says that as guardian she shouldn't be handing Miraculi so easily, without properly testing someone, and Marinette turns Tikki around to look at Dusuu's crestfallen face and Tikki relent, but says she needs to keep a close eye on Alfred, no skipping her duties. She nods and, with the entire family staring at her she gets embarrassed and transforms into Ladybug. But her costume is completely different, because she's so different. It's now a black leather suit with ladybug wing like Cape and hood, and gloves with the spots. Instead of five dots though, she has ten, showing that she's grown more powerful. She explains the happenings of Paris from her point of view, letting certain things like the torture be untouched, because she just wasn't ready. Everybody is so impressed she did all that alone and while injured and they want to adopt her and maybe use her skills, but she's not ready to suit up for a fight. She's been through too much, hurt too deeply and they all understand (Barbara is instrumental in making them back the hell off).
And so they have dinner like this once a week, for a month, with the entire family coming together and falling a little in love with Marinette.
One day Jason asks if they still own the pent house in Gotham, and if so, why don't they give it to Marinette (because she refuses to live off their charity and become part of the family because she looks the same and all it would take is one picture to Paris and she's screwed). They all agree and bring it up, saying it's closer to school, more secure (with a panic room that alerts them to her and let's her help out behind the scenes on missions) and has a safe for the jewels. So she thinks about it, but her house gets broken into again that evening while she's at work, and Captain gets injured (not badly, but it's enough) and so she moves into the penthouse, where the Wayne men tried to make it more to her taste and expanded the balcony to have a large garden, installed a doggy door for Captain and they even made a sewing room for Marinette, because she used to love it and maybe one day she will again. Bruce surprises her more by handing over the property to her completely, and saying she will still have to pay utilities (not that she will know that they are greatly reduced) but she will be safe at last.
Marinette keeps working and homeschooling and now she sometimes helps Alfred and Oracle on computers, making strategies for them to keep more people safe. She also trains in self defense with the family once a week, so they worry less about her. She is starting to heal slowly. And then a world ending event happens. Who knows what, but the Justice League and Teen Titans are completely overwhelmed (maybe Raven's dad makes a comeback)
"Does anybody have a plan zed?" Batman asks, completely bloody and exhausted. Most of Metropolis. Star City and Gotham is already leveled. Over the coms they hear a brand new voice "I do". It's definitely feminine. Super man freaks out a little "Who is this?!".
"on your left" she answers (yes, avengers reference)
Marinette jumps out in the black cat suit, launches herself into battle and decimate the enemy in less than five minutes. She comes walking over slowly afterwards and the league is just like "who is she? Who brought her in?" and slowly, one by one the league looks to the bat's and they're all looking at Damien, who is looking at Marinette like she is the answer to the universe and everything good and right in the world. She sees the destruction and the wounds on the hero's and does a one to another transformation into Ladybug and does a mass cure, healing the heroes, fixing the buildings and bringing back the dead before passing out in Robin's arms. He was quick to take off his Cape and cover her before anyone could see her face. The bat's take her back home to let her rest and the other heroes come over outside of costume to meet the new BatKid.
And in Paris? Adrien hears about the Ladybug cure in Gotham and decides he will get his princess back now.
Ladybug and Reine Nuit: Chapter 17
Dark Cupid I
Disclaimer: I don’t own ML.
I’m still salty that Kagami’s canon outfit is a literal school uniform because…she’s Japanese?
And Chloé seems pretty stagnant now but that’s because there’s not much pushing her to change. She’s still under the delusion that Adrien will eventually come back to her and she hasn’t hit rock bottom…yet.
Chapter 16 | Chapter 18
“In most fairy tales, the prince breaks the spell by kissing the princess,” Ms Bustier says. “Can anyone tell us why?”
“Because only love can conquer hate!” Rose sighs. Although Adrien’s only half-listening to the lesson, his brain demonstrates its useful skill from years of home-schooling by still absorbing what’s being said while his focus remains on the terrifying project in front of him: a love letter. More specifically, a love poem. For Marinette.
Wait, what is he even thinking? This is a terrible idea! He’s going to utterly fail, and Marinette’s going to hate it, and their friendship will be over with a capital O, and they’ll never run away to an island far away from everything and live off nothing but fruit and get married and have two kids – or maybe three, depending on what Marinette wants – and a little pet hamster –
“Adrien, I hope what you’re writing has to do with my lesson.” Ms Bustier’s voice jolts him out of his panicked daze. “Can you tell me what I just said?”
“That's why in most fairy tales, the prince breaks the spell by kissing the princess because only love conquers hate,” Adrien rattles off automatically.
“Very good!” Ms Bustier says just as the bell rings. The students immediately start packing up, so she calls out their homework for the night before they can start swarming to leave. “And Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!”
Adrien fumbles to pull a small box out of his pocket with trembling fingers as he, Marinette, Nino, and Alya emerge into the crowded courtyard. This is it. Even if he can’t go through with the poem, he can do this, right? This doesn’t require words –
“You got this for moi, Adrikins?” Chloé snatches the box from him and gives an exaggerated gasp when she opens it to reveal a small golden ring with a ruby set in the centre. “Oh, you shouldn’t have! I love you too!”
“I didn’t –”
“I’m flattered!” Chloé slides the ring onto her finger and holds it up to show everyone who’s stopped to investigate the noise. “I’ll be expecting you to pick me up tonight, Adrikins! Mwah!” She gives him a wet kiss on the cheek and saunters off, while girls everywhere rush after her, some of them even crying.
“But that’s not…for you…” Adrien sighs and looks down.
“Uh, is that thievery?” Nino said. “Dude, I’m pretty sure she robbed you.”
“Oooh, who was it for?” Alya says, nudging Adrien. “Who’s the lucky lady who’s caught Adrien’s eye?” The smirk on her face strikes fear into Adrien’s very soul. There’s no way Alya doesn’t know who he’s crushing on. No way at all.
“Alya, leave him alone,” Marinette chastises half-heartedly.
“Hey, my dad got akumatised two days ago because Kim thought he could run faster than a panther,” Alya says. “It’s either this or I sulk and ruin everyone’s day.”
“Doesn’t matter,” Adrien mumbles. “She wouldn’t be my Valentine anyway.”
“That’s a load of rubbish, Adrien Agreste!” Marinette snaps with her hands on her hips. “You’re a total dork, and you’re cute, and you’re really sweet, and anyone would be lucky to have you!”
Blood rushes to Adrien’s cheeks at Marinette’s vehement defence of him, especially with her beautiful face set in a scowl like an avenging angel from above. “Um – manks, Thari – I mean…thanks, Marinette.”
“She’s right, you know,” says a voice from behind her. Marinette steps aside to let Kagami walk next to her as they descend the school steps. “You need to be surer in yourself, Adrien. If you’re uncertain in yourself, how do you expect anyone else to be certain in you?”
Adrien sighs. “Thanks, Kagami. But she’s way out of my league.”
“Of course she is, if you let brats like that steal right from the palm of your hand.” Kagami jabs her thumb over at Chloé, who’s showing off “her” ring to a crowd of envious girls. Sabrina, who’s passing by with Alix and Nathaniel, blinks at Chloé and jumps away on autopilot. Alix and Nathaniel immediately sling their arms around her comfortingly and escort her away.
Poor Sabrina. Untangling herself from Chloé is a daily struggle for her, especially since she can’t even look at Chloé without starting to panic, no doubt triggered by her ordeal with Antibug. Her new style, divorced from her old one while still retaining her nerdy nature, is just one way she’s working on that, such as the white blouse and lilac cardigan she’s wearing with her royal blue plaid skirt today. The only reason she hasn’t moved to another class is because Alix and Nathaniel are the only people who seem to be willing to befriend Chloé’s Best Friend; even the other classes are well aware of Chloé Bourgeois and her reign of terror.
Adrien shakes himself out of his thoughts for the second time that day as they draw level with his car, where his bodyguard holds the back door open for him.
“Bye, dude,” Nino says, holding his hand out for a fist bump. Adrien bumps it and gets into his car, then rolls down his window to wave at his friends until his bodyguard drives off.
.
“So, Mari, who’s your friend?” Alya says with a nod at Kagami, trying to act like she’s never seen the girl before in her life. Even though she technically has. But no one’s supposed to know that she’s Reine Nuit. And Kagami’s wearing a different outfit to the fencing uniform she’d worn the first time Alya had seen her: a red sweater over a white collared button-up, both elbow-length, tucked into a black skirt, with black tights and red sneakers.
“Oh!” Marinette facepalms. “Alya, Nino, this is Kagami. We met her when she showed up to the fencing tryouts.”
“And got akumatised,” Kagami mutters.
“No sweat, dude,” Nino says. “I got akumatised too ‘cause Adrien’s dad wouldn’t let me throw him a party. It’s that dick Hawkmoth’s fault, not yours.”
Kagami frowns at Nino, as though she’s studying him in a new light.
“This is my best friend Alya,” Marinette says, gesturing to Alya. “And this is Adrien’s best friend Nino. Not that he’s not our friend, of course!”
“Operation Valentine’s Day is commencing!” Max announces from nearby. Alya, Marinette, Nino, and Kagami slow their pace to listen in. “According to my extensive research and cross-referencing of online shopping sites, this particular jewel –” He produces a heart-shaped box from behind his back and offers it to Kim, who opens it, “– was ranked highest in popularity.”
“That's perfect, Max!” Kim says. “I better hit a home run with this one. Love is like baseball, right? You gotta have a strategy or you'll strike out. But if you aim right, you'll hit it out of the ball park. Score!”
Alya lights up at this major crush scoop, and she drags Marinette over to the boys. Nino and Kagami exchange glances and follow them.
“Oh, yes, Kim, lovely metaphor,” Max says absently.
“Meta-who?” Kim says, looking inside the box again.
“Ooh, sparkly!” Alya pulls Kim’s hands down to see what’s inside the box, and she catches a glimpse of a golden heart-shaped brooch inlaid with sapphires. “Is that for moi? You know, to make up for getting my dad akumatised?”
“Negative, Alya,” Max says. “The recipient of this gem has already been determined. It’s –”
Kim grabs Max around the neck and slaps a palm over his mouth. “Shh!” the jock hisses. “Keep it on the down-low!”
“Omg! Kim’s got a major crush!” Alya giggles, giddy with Valentine’s-Day-by-proxy fever. Well, at least she seems to have moved past the Animan incident, if she’s not wanting to strangle Kim now. “Who’s the lucky lady?”
“I don’t think that’s exactly appropriate to ask if he’s said he doesn’t want to disclose that information,” Kagami says. Kim shoots her a grateful look.
“Fine, fine,” Alya says. “I won’t pry.”
“It’s awesome, dude!” Nino says. “She’s gonna love it.”
“Technically, she's still gotta accept it,” Kim says, scratching the back of his head. His eyes widen. “What if she says no?”
“She won’t, Kim!” Marinette says, pumping her fist. “Don’t hold back! Go for it! No regrets!”
Kim grins and high-fives Max. “Operation Valentine’s Day is underway!” He starts jogging on the spot, while Max pulls out a map of the area.
“Her route is highlighted here in yellow, yours in red,” Max recites. “If you run at ten miles per hour, you're going to gain a four-and-a-half-minute advance on her. Halt and wait here facing northwest – the third most romantic spot in Paris.”
Alya and Marinette grin and shoot Kim encouraging thumbs-up.
“Go on, dude!” Nino says. “Knock her over!”
“Thanks, guys!” Kim says before sprinting away.
“Come on!” Alya says to Kagami and Nino. “I bet we can get Marinette’s papa to sneak us some of their Valentine’s Day treats!”
“I don’t know…” Kagami says. “I should have called my driver minutes ago.”
“Dude, Adrien’s getting pushed around by his schedule enough,” Nino says. “Fight the system!”
Alya and Marinette raise their eyebrows at him. Kagami takes a deep breath, then types a message on her phone.
“I told my driver to wait an hour before picking me up, so that I can spend time with Adrien and develop our friendship. My mother will be displeased, but I’ll offer her extra training to compensate for this. I just hope she doesn’t realise that I’m lying.”
“Hey, rich kids gotta stick together, right?” Alya teases. Kagami, who looks a little pale, just raises an eyebrow at her.
“Yay!” Marinette hugs Kagami. “Come on! If we hurry, we’ll make it before Papa sells all the treats!”
As they’re sprinting down a street and weaving between shoppers, Marinette crashes into someone and shrieks as they both lose their balance. Acting on superhero reflexes, Alya grabs Marinette and keeps her on her feet, while Kagami catches the other person.
“Adrien?” she says as the person groans. “What are you doing? Shouldn’t you be at home?”
“I –” Adrien stuffs something into his bag and grins sheepishly. “Nothing! I just…wanted to get out of the car…”
“You’re a horrible liar, Agreste,” Kagami says. “Although at least I’m technically not lying now.”
Just then, everyone’s phones except for Kagami’s buzz, and Alya gasps when she’s fished hers out and sees what Chloé’s sent them.
“That witch!” she hisses, angling her phone so that Kagami can see the picture of Kim kneeling and covered in trash.
“Nothing I say is even doing anything!” Adrien’s shoulders slump. “I thought she really valued our friendship enough to want to become a better person. Maybe if I give a little and talk to her to nudge her –”
“Nope,” Alya says immediately. “That’s what she wants. You give her an inch, she’ll take a mile.”
“It’s not your responsibility to make her change, dude,” Nino agrees.
“Some people just won’t change,” Kagami says. “You just need to –” Her eyes widen. “Look out!”
Alya has just enough time to register the winged red and black figure behind Adrien before they’re nocking an arrow to their bow and shooting straight at Marinette. Before a wide-eyed Marinette can so much as blink in reaction, Adrien’s throwing himself in front of her with his arms out, taking the arrow straight to his chest.
“Adrien!” Marinette gasps as he doubles over, while the arrow dissolves. “Oh my gosh, are you okay? What did he do to you?”
“I – I –” Adrien straightens up and rips himself free of Marinette’s grasp. His lips, curved in a snarl, are now pitch black. “I loathe you, Marinette! Everyone thinks you’re such a perfect princess!” He grins cruelly at Kagami. “We both know I won that point, Kagami. Marinette’s just too sickeningly soft to stand by her judgement. Always afraid to hurt other people like the disgusting angel she is!”
“Come on, dude!” Nino grabs Marinette’s arm and drags her out of the way of another arrow. “We gotta get out of here!”
“But what about Adrien?” Marinette protests. Kagami and Alya grab her other arm.
“Nothing we can do for him right now,” Alya says. “We just gotta wait for Ladybug and Reine Nuit to show up!”
Her words seem to pierce through Marinette’s daze like one of the akuma’s arrows, because Marinette shakes her head and flees the scene with her friends, ducking and darting around the screaming passers-by. A good distance away, Alya ‘accidentally’ loses her grip on Marinette and lets herself get sucked into the crowd, pretending she doesn’t hear her friends’ cries. Once she’s able to extract herself from the panicking people, she darts down an alleyway and cries, “Plagg, claws out!”
As Reine Nuit, she leaps out and elbows her way through the crowd back to where the akuma had been, but he’s nowhere in sight. Thankfully, an angel of an entirely different kind lands next to her and says, “It’s Kim! Hawkmoth must have gotten him after Chloé did that.”
“I wish I could slap her and get away with it,” Reine Nuit huffs, crossing her arms.
“Ladybug! Reine Nuit!” Nino skids to a halt, with Kagami following at a more dignified pace. “Marinette and Alya! We lost ‘em – they could be –”
“Marinette’s safe,” Ladybug says quickly. “I got her out of here. She told me that it’s Kim and the akuma has to be in the pin she saw – the one he wanted to give to Chloé.”
Of course! “Alya’s safe too,” Reine Nuit says. “Pulled her out of the way just in time. You guys need to get somewhere safe. Angel bug and I have to…” She shudders. “Protect Chloé.”
“That’s the spirit!” Ladybug says cheerfully with a wide, plastic smile. “Let’s go!”
They bound towards Le Grand Paris, praying that they won’t be too late – although in Reine Nuit’s case at least, it’s more because it’ll be a pain to predict where he’s going once he’s got his revenge on Chloé. They arrive just in time; Chloé’s about to enter the hotel, and Kim is nearby with an arrow ready. Just as he’s about to shoot, Ladybug catches his wrist with her yo-yo and yanks his aim off.
“Ladybug!” he snarls, whirling to face them on their rooftop. Chloé screams and runs away down the street.
“Stop it, Kim!” Ladybug says.
“I’m not Kim! I’m Dark Cupid, and I’ll never stop! If I can’t have love, then no one can!”
“Okay, Dark Cupid, I get it.” Ladybug holds her hands up placatingly. “Chloé totally burned you. But that doesn't mean you have to take it out on all of Paris!”
“Oh, yes I do! I won't stop until everyone's heart is crushed. Say adios to your loved ones. From now on, you'll hate them!”
Dark Cupid shoots arrow after arrow at Ladybug and Reine Nuit, who use their yo-yo and staff to deflect them. But they can’t win like this; they’re on the defensive, and they can’t stay like this forever. All it’ll take is one arrow to slip through their guard.
It happens almost in slow motion. Just as Dark Cupid fires another arrow, Ladybug slips and loses her footing, throwing her yo-yo at a chimney to stop herself from falling off the roof. But this lets the arrow strike her directly in the centre of her back.
“Ladybug!” Reine Nuit dodges another arrow and throws herself down next to Ladybug, whose entire body is tense and trembling. “Are you okay?”
“Reine Nuit,” Ladybug gasps. She looks up, her lips now jet-black, and all the tension melts out of her body. “I hate you!”
“Hey, snap out of it!” Reine Nuit tries to shake her partner’s shoulders, but Ladybug slaps her across the face and then straddles her to keep her pinned. Reine Nuit struggles to stop her body from tingling and flushing. Okay, so she’s had fantasies of being pinned by Ladybug, but not like this.
“You’re the worst partner I could’ve asked for, ditzy kitty!” Ladybug snarls. “What good are you? What, you can pop a Cataclysm or two? I could’ve gotten by perfectly well without your little power!” She smirks. “But you can’t do a thing without my powers, can you? You’re useless!”
Sorry about this, Reine Nuit thinks. She forces her baton under Ladybug’s stomach, then extends it to send Ladybug flying along the rooftop. Before the brainwashed hero can recover, Reine Nuit leaps off the roof and takes off down the street, ducking for cover to try and throw Ladybug and Dark Cupid off her trail if they follow her. It’s not until she’s a few blocks away that she finally allows herself to sag against a brick wall, panting and trying to resist the urge to thump the back of her head on the wall repeatedly.
Great. Ladybug’s gone. And she’s the only one who can purify the akuma. What is Reine Nuit going to do? Ladybug had been right when she’d said that Reine Nuit is useless without her.
Snap out of it! Reine Nuit shakes her head. Save Ladybug now, mope later. She’s a hero. So, she has to act like one.
Garlic in the Cauldron - Ch 1
Garlic in the Cauldron
Adrien Agreste learned from a young age that witches were the enemies to vampires. He was taught to kill on sight, drink them dry, and never look back... however, meeting a witch named Marinette threw his entire world off balance.
Ch 1 - Putting a Spell on You
Begin reading under the cut!
“Those wretched creatures killed your mother, son.”
The ten-year-old vampire, Adrien Agreste, stared up at his father, tears in his bright emerald eyes. “Mama’s not coming back?”
“No. She’s not. Witches are responsible. We will make them rue the day they ever crossed us. No witch will live if our clan has anything to say about it,” Gabriel growled, eyes glowing a harsh red in his anger. “We must take their lives and avenge your mother’s death. Do you understand, Adrien?”
Eyes wide with fear, the small vampire nodded. “Yes, Father.”
Gabriel ran his clawed fingers through his son’s golden hair. “This day marks the day that the Agreste Clan calls for the extermination for all witches. We will hunt down their covens and demolish them all. You will be ready.”
“But Father, I don’t know how to kill anyone.”
Casting his son a sharp glare, the elder vampire hissed. “You will. You will take over our people, and call for the heads of all witches as well.”
Adrien merely nodded. “Yes, sir.”
________________________________________________________________
Adrien tossed and turned, groaning as he flopped himself flat onto his mattress. Annoyed at his lack of slumber, he glanced at the clock. It was late in the evening, meaning his father would be waking up to lead the hunt any minute, he thought irritably. Not that he was ever allowed to go. With a disgruntled sigh and roll of his eyes, Adrien wrapped his arms across his face, muttering complaints as he did so. Between a horrible dream and knowing that his father was leaving him at home to piddle around, he was a little petulant.
“You awake, Sleeping Beauty?”
Moving his arms, Adrien cracked an eye open to see the black cat sitting on his nightstand, tail swishing cockily. The vampire rolled his eyes before frowning at the creature. “Not now, Plagg. I’m not in the mood.”
“When are you ever in the mood to do anything? All you ever do is mope around your room all day,” Plagg pointed out snarkily.
Adrien sighed, turning his head to glare at the cat. It was way too soon after waking for Plagg’s harassment. “Yes. Thank you for telling me. It’s not like I can go anywhere anyway.”
“Obviously not, since your pops keeps you locked up here like a princess in a tower. Do you think one day you’ll have a handsome prince call for you to let your hair down from the window?”
Giving the creature a flat look, he threw a pillow at Plagg. In response, the cat meowed in distress, trying to avoid the projectile shot at him. “Sometimes I question why I let you stay here.”
Plagg pushed the pillow away with his paw before answering. “We both know that you would shrivel from loneliness if I hadn’t stuck around.”
“But why? My father killed your witch. I still don’t understand why you’re willing to stay around. You should think I’m awful,” Adrien asked with a curious glance.
Plagg had been living in Adrien’s room for about a year now, much to the young vampire’s confusion and dismay. Gabriel killed the witch that Plagg was the familiar of and followed his father home. After being caught sneaking around by Adrien, he had decided to stay around, however, the young vampire is the only one who knows Plagg is capable of speech.
Licking a paw, the cat ignored Adrien’s questions, as was typical for their daily routine. Adrien was much like a cat on his own: full of curiosity. “I told you already, kid, I sensed something about you. That’s all.”
“Same answer you always give,” the vampire grumbled.
He didn’t understand why Plagg wouldn’t just tell him the truth, but he never pried. As much as it pained him to admit, he didn’t want to lose the little guy. Plagg was right when he said that Adrien would be awfully lonely without him as much as he hated to admit it. The annoying cat was there for him more than anyone else in Adrien’s life. A sad fate, he thought, when he really considered it. It wasn’t like Adrien had much choice. Ever since those dreaded witches murdered his mother, his father never let him leave the lair. Adrien was constantly under the watchful eye of someone from the clan. Typically, Nathalie or the Gorilla. Both were just as harsh on him as his father.
Adrien knew that if they would just give him a chance to fight for himself, he could do it. He wasn’t defenseless. He wasn’t a child anymore. Well, technically, he was very young for a vampire. But, he was definitely a legal adult according to human standards. How would he ever venture out into the world? Meet a girl? Fall in love? Start his own section of the clan, and maybe even take over for his father, if he’s never allowed to step foot outside of the mansion walls?
But maybe… just maybe, he could.
Maybe, if he just took an opportunity into his own hands? He could hunt down a witch himself! He could kill a witch to prove himself to his father! Then his father would have to believe him, right?
Sitting up sharply, Adrien clenched the covers tightly in his palms. He shifted the fabric in his fingers as he stared down at the foot of his bed.
“Hey, kid. I can see the gears turning in your head from here. What are you thinking?”
Adrien’s jaw tightened. He glanced up at the familiar. “Will you take me to a coven?”
Plagg’s eyes narrowed into sharp slits as he glared. “No way in hell.”
“I could easily threaten you, you know? I don’t have to keep you here. I could easily throw you to the streets. I only let you stay because I feel bad for you.” A lie. Plagg probably knew that too. He hated having to be harsh with the familiar, but Adrien had no choice.
“Adrien, I don’t know what you’re thinking.”
The vampire swallowed hard; throat tight. “One witch. If I could kill one witch, maybe my father would finally respect me. I could finally leave this place.”
Plagg hung his head with sigh. “That’s a big maybe, kid. You know that’s not what you want.”
“I don’t have a choice,” Adrien hissed. “My father will never let me live a little until I can prove myself to him. So, either you take me to a coven or I find one myself. If I find one myself, I’m more likely to put a lot more witches in danger because the clan is out hunting. I won’t cause a scene, I swear. I’ll just take one.”
“That’s a lot easier said than done.”
“Yeah, well. You said I was different, right? What makes me so different? Am I as weak as my father says I am?” Adrien growled, throwing the sheets from his person. “That’s what he thinks of me! He tells me all the time. That I’m weak like my mother, so I’m an easy target. I keep hoping it’s just because I’m younger, but if I can never show him that I am strong then I’ll never have the chance to get better,” he stood, huffing a breath. He shot a look to the familiar. “Are you in or not, Plagg?”
“I’m completely against this,” the cat groaned.
“Fine,” Adrien started towards the window only to have the sound of Plagg clearing his throat stop the vampire in his tracks.
“I’m against it,” Plagg continued, “but I want to make sure you don’t do anything stupid. I can’t have you causing a panic.”
Adrien nodded and swung the window open. “I promise I won’t.”
Plagg glowed before morphing into his smaller form, much like a tiny fairy. He had a green hue that shimmered in dark sky. Adrien focused all his energy and closed his eyes, feeling his form change as well. He felt himself shrink down, arms sprouting into wings and he flapped them naturally. His bat form was never that comfortable, but he didn’t mind it when necessary.
“Let’s go,” Plagg said and took off out of the window.
Adrien followed suit, keeping a watchful eye on Plagg’s glowing form, making it easier for him to keep up. Adrien contemplated what he was really doing as they flew. Was he really going to try to hunt and kill a witch all on his own? He had no choice, did he? It was surprising Plagg would betray witches so easily in order to help a vampire he barely knew. Though, he had to admit it felt a little guilty for threatening to throw Plagg out. He’d miss the annoying cat if he didn’t have him. Plus, he’d go back to utter loneliness.
As Adrien followed Plagg, he realized they were entering territory he didn’t recognize. Not that Adrien had been many places, it was just very different than he’d ever seen before. There were so many brick buildings that seemed to be their homes, much different than the mansion estates that vampires lived in. There were… cauldrons adorning different porches. Jeez, those were pretty tacky. This must have been the coven… but there were no witches alone that he could snatch. All of them seemed accompanied by another.
Buddy system… smart.
The were all so happy. They were together with family and friends. The seemed to gather and laugh. No one was even brewing in the cauldrons at that time. Weren’t witches smarmy and evil? Not even a single one of them was green!
The sound of a screech jolted him out of his thoughts. Startled, he lost concentration on his flying and had to regain his wits. Adrien watched as a witch fumbled while flying her broom. Her raven hair was pulled back into twin tails. They fluttered in the wind as she skittered across the sky. She bumped into a building and started into a downward tailspin between two buildings screaming as she did so…
That was the one.
 _______________________________________________________________
“Damn… that really hurt, Tikki,” the witch grumbled, rubbing the newly sported sore spot on her side.
The scent of the witch’s blood hit is nostrils. He noticed a scrape on her knee which must’ve been why the smell was so strong. Licking his lips, he knew this was it. The girl was not a very strong witch from the looks of it. Obviously, not the most avid of flyers since he just saw her crash her broom on a clear night. This was the moment he could prove himself to his father. Maybe it was a little sleazy to go after a witch that was injured, but in that moment it didn’t matter.
Stepping forward, he shoes echoed off the alley walls. The witch spun quickly, eyes wide and cautious as he approached yet she stayed silent. When he saw her face, Adrien hesitated. Beautiful… She was beautiful. Weren’t witches supposed to be ugly? Like with warts and big noses?
Why did she have to be so damn cute!?
No. Focus. It doesn’t matter how cute she is, she was deadly. Evil. Witches were evil.
He had to be confident. He couldn’t be afraid. Adrien decided channeling his father’s attitude would be best for this situation. Don’t feel. No guilt. Think of what mother went through when she was attacked. Take all of that anger and make the most of it.
“Hey, how’s it going?” Adrien smarmed as he approached her tauntingly.
“Who are you?” she asked, lids narrowing and brows pinching.
With a laugh, he shook his head. “You shouldn’t be concerned with who am so much as what I am,” Adrien pulled the hood down, revealing his pointed ears. He grinned at her, fangs protruding in all their glory.
Her bluebell eyes blew wide. “Vampire.”
Taking another step closer, he smirked. “That’s right.”
For every step she took backward away, Adrien took two more closer to her. He could sense her panic and could hear every pounding beat of her heart. Good, she should be afraid in her last moments. Just as his mother was when her life was taken. Step by step, he tracked her until their little dance came to an end with her having backed herself into the corner, her back pressing against the brick wall.
With the panicked expression that etched across her features, Adrien knew the witch was aware of her fate. Holding her wand up, she sucked in a visible breath. “C-Come any closer or else I’ll turn you into a toad.”
Adrien snorted at her remark. With his enhanced speed, he had her in clutches within a moment. Hands placed on either side of her head, his body caged her in place. He was in the perfect spot to bite her and drink her dead right there. “Isn’t that what you all say?”
“Your earrings!” called a tiny voice. He glanced over his shoulder to see a red, small bug-like creature floating next to him. Her familiar, he surmised. Adrien swatted the thing away, sending it flying across the alley as it cried out.
Turning his attention back to the witch, Adrien gave her a good once over. His needle-sharp fangs protruded from his lips as he leaned in towards her neck.
“Kid! Don’t do it!”
Plagg’s protests from behind him made him pause. The desperation in the cat’s tone made him grimace, but he had to ignore him. Adrien had no choice. Proving himself to his father was all he had. When he lifted his head to silence the familiar with a hiss, he caught the frightened bluebell eyes of the witch beneath him instead. So much fear in those beautiful irises. Tears bubbled over her bottom lashes, and her entire body trembled beneath him. The wand was so close to slipping from her fingertips.
She was so afraid. Afraid of him. Wasn’t that what he wanted? To be feared? To kill witches and become powerful like his father?
…Would every witch he killed look at him like that beforehand?
Adrien’s fingers dug into the brick beside her head. With a remorseful sigh, the young vampire hung his head in defeat. He couldn’t do it. He was a weak disgrace to his family… but he just couldn’t do it. Pushing off the wall, he gave the witch an apologetic gaze before crossing the alleyway. Pressing his back against the opposite wall, his knees buckled beneath him. Adrien crumpled downward to the cold ground, resting his face in his palms as he let out a sob.
Plagg approached him, placing a paw on Adrien’s knee. “I’m proud of you.”
Adrien peaked out through his fingers, giving the cat a harsh glare. “You’re not helping,” he growled.
“Why do you have a familiar?”
He flinched at the voice of the witch, head slinging upward so quick he almost cracked his head against the brick wall behind him. She was… she was talking to him? Adrien stared at her flabbergasted. “W-What?”
The witch kept her distance and shuffled uncomfortably. Her wand was pointed straight at him as she clutched it in her quivering fingers. The tip hissed a harsh red much different than the bright glow from her empty threat earlier. He noticed the familiar had also recovered from the prior backhand he’d given it and the creature was perched on her shoulder, glowering at him with her little arms crossed. If looks could kill…
“Why do you have a familiar?” she repeated, voice much harsher this time.
Adrien was in disbelief. He just tried to suck this girl dry and now she was making conversation? “I did just try to kill you. You know that right? I wasn’t told that witches had goldfish memories.”
Her cheeks flared a hot red, brows pinching. The wand grew brighter. Yeah, maybe he was testing his luck, but being turned into a toad at this point would be a vast improvement to his miserable existence. “Shut up! I know that!” she paused, giving him a sideways glance. “But I can’t help but be curious,” she muttered.
Sighing, Adrien ran his hand through his tussled blonde locks. “He’s the familiar of a witch my father killed. He’s stuck around and harassed me ever since.”
Plagg grinned. “Yeah, well, we both know you would be lonely without me.” The cat looked at the witch, gesturing to the boy next to him. “This kid? He has zero friends. I’ve never seen someone so alone in my nine lives.”
Rolling his eyes, Adrien groaned. “Can you not share my personal information with people I just tried to murder? Thanks, okay.” He stretched his legs out in front of him, observing the witch above him. “Shouldn’t you be, I don’t know… running? Telling the entire coven ‘hey, vampire!’”
“I—I should…”
“And you’re not doing that because…?”
The witch smiled. “You don’t seem like a threat.”
Scoffing, Adrien leaned his head back against the bricks, shoulders slumping with disappointment. “Gee, thanks.” This girl sure knew how to take a jab at his self-esteem.
She moved closer taking a seat next to him, much to Adrien’s dismay. He scrambled away from her, staring the girl as if she’s grown a second head. Holding a hand up between them, Adrien points at her, completely exasperated. “W-What are you doing?”
“Sitting,” she chimed. “What’s it look like?” The witch asked with a shrug.
Placing a hand over his slow-beating heart, Adrien caught his breath. He surely thought she was going to come over and stake him. That wand was still glowing hotly in her hand, he noted. Was she really trying to be friendly with him? It didn’t make any sense. This girl was clearly insane. Boy, he knew how to pick his prey, didn’t he?
Blinking at her in incredulity, he shook his head. “You are way too calm for someone who almost got the blood sucked out them.”
She leaned back against the wall with a smile, shrugging as she turned her head to look at him. “Maybe so, but you’re different from other vampires, aren’t you?”
“D-Different?”
“Yeah, you’re different. You’re not a blood thirsty murder machine like everyone says vampires are.”
With a guilty laugh, he gave a lopsided shrug. “I guess it’s fair that your kind thinks that of us. We also have similar thoughts of witches.”
Humming, she nodded. “I figured,” she paused for a moment. “What’s your name?”
He gave her a cautious glance, eyes flicking up and down. “It’s Adrien,” he drawled slowly. He knew he shouldn’t ask, but he couldn’t stop his tongue from slipping up. “You?”
“Marinette,” she said, beaming as she did so.
A very pretty name for a very pretty witch. Adrien almost slapped himself at that thought. He can’t think a witch is pretty! Witches are the enemy. Flustered, he glanced away from her. “N-Nice name.”
“So, Adrien, why are you here?”
He didn’t want to think about how nice his name sounded coming out of her mouth. Shaking his head, Adrien focused on her question. “I’m… not really sure I should disclose that information.”
“Oh? Would you rather me tell the coven you’re here? Maybe turn you into a frog? Or we can go with a rat, if you’d like?”
She sure had gotten cheeky now that she had the upper hand over him. Maybe, he should have bitten her when he had the chance. Drooping with defeat, Adrien pinched the bridge of his nose. “Fine,” he side-eyed her. “You’re a real smartass, you know that?”
“I feel I have the right to be considering about five minutes ago you almost had your fangs in my neck, right?’
Adrien blinked silently, gritting his teeth. “Okay, anyway…” he paused. She was certainly feisty. He didn’t really want to tell a witch about his family drama, but he could just give her the vague idea, right? God, those blue eyes made him want to melt and spill his guts to her. It wasn’t fair! “My mother… she was killed by a witch when I was young.”
Marinette’s shoulders drooped, and she glanced away from him. “I see… You want to avenge her death then?”
Nodding, he sighed. “That’s what started it. It’s a bit more complicated than just that… My father seems to think I’m useless, so I just wanted to show him I could actually do something. But, I guess this isn’t the best way to prove it to him.”
“I think it’s better that it’s not… But don’t vampires kill humans to feed?” she asked.
He felt like that was a loaded question, but Marinette seemed to be genuinely curious. Adrien shook his head. “No… I don’t, at least. I prefer practical ways, like stealing from blood banks.”
That earned him a laugh. God, even her laugh sounded like bell chimes… No! Bad Adrien. Stop! No thinking like that about a witch! Smiling at him, she shook her head. “I’m not sure how your moral compass works, but I guess it’s better than hunting them down like cattle.”
Adrien chuckled at her comment. “Yeah, well, I came here to hunt down a witch, but I didn’t know they could be so adorable.” The statement had slipped out, really. Fuck. He just called her adorable. Covering his mouth with his hands, he shot a sideways glance in her direction. Marinette’s cheeks pinked a little, while his own blush was so dark it resembled the blood he drank.
“Well… Th-Thank you.” Marinette said, fidgeting around where she sat. She gave a teasing smile as she glanced back over to him. “I didn’t know vampires could blush.”
Standing quickly, Adrien tried to recover from his embarrassment. He couldn’t recall ever being this flustered in his entire life. “Y-Yeah, well, I…I should go before my father notices I’m gone. I’m sorry… for what I did.”
Marinette stood too, coming closer to him with a nod. “I understand and apology accepted. Maybe… maybe we should try being friends?” she asked, holding a hand out to him.
Blinking in disbelief, Adrien’s jaw fell agape at her. “You… Really?”
A soft smile graced her features. “Yes, I mean it. Everyone makes mistakes, Adrien. You were just doing what you thought would make your father proud. Do you still want to drink my blood?”
Shaking his head, he gazed down guiltily. “Not if it involves hurting you… no.” That fear in her eyes… he never wanted to see that again.
“See, I knew I was right about you,” Marinette held her hand higher. “Friends?”
Adrien smiled with a nod. “Yeah, friends,” he replied as he took her hand. She was so warm compared to him. Could he hug her? No! That was inappropriate.
After letting go of his hand, she gazed back down shyly. “If… If it’s any consolation,” her bluebell eyes met his. “I think you’re pretty cute for a vampire.”
Plagg’s snickering did not go unheard from both parties. Adrien anxiously ruffled the back of his hair. “Y-Yeah! Well. Um. Thanks f-for saying that.”
Marinette smiled. “Will I ever see you again since we’re friends now?”
Calming himself, Adrien couldn’t help but smirk. “I’ll think about it.”
________________________________________________________________
“Friends!? Friends!? Marinette, what are you thinking!? You can’t be friends with a vampire! Especially not ones that just tried to kill you!” Tikki exclaimed as she hovered around Marinette.
Marinette sighed, sitting on her chaise. “I know I shouldn’t, Tikki, but… he was so cute though.”
“Marinette! You did not just call a vampire cute!”
She waved off her familiar with a shake of her head and a laugh. “Lighten up. I didn’t die. He wasn’t that strong of a vampire. He’s obviously very young and inexperienced.”
“Experienced enough to corner and trap you. He would’ve killed you if he had been like any other vampire,” Tikki argued.
“He isn’t like any other vampire though, right? Besides, I can’t fulfill the prophecy if a weak vampire like Adrien takes me out. I was scared, but I knew I’d be fine. It’s why I didn’t try to do anything to him. He was afraid too. I could tell. No matter how much he tried to hide it behind that asshole façade,” Marinette explained as she stared up at her disgruntled familiar.
Tikki sighed, antennas drooping. “Marinette, this whole situation is so dangerous. If it gets out that you’re the witch chosen to end the war then you’re going to be in even more danger.”
“Please, Adrien won’t find out. I’ll keep my guard up and distance when I see him again.”
“See him again!? You were serious!?”
Sighing, Marinette eyed her familiar. “Tikki, if you keep being so loud you’re going to wake my parents. This whole vampire thing has to stay a secret.”
Running her paws down her face in pure dismay, the bug familiar glowered at her owner. “Are you really going to do this?”
“Think about it. This has to be some sign that will lead me to my destiny, right? It’s not every day that you casually run into a friendly vampire. If I can get close to Adrien, I can get an in and, hopefully, learn a way to defeat Gabriel Agreste. He has to be a part of that clan, right? Or at least knows of it. This is a good thing, Tikki. I promise. I can handle myself. Besides it looks like he needs it.” Marinette said with a soft smile, glancing down at her lap.
“What do you mean?”
She lifted her head, gazing out the window. “He looked so lonely…”
_____________________________________________________________
“Ugh! ‘I’ll think about it’? How lame! I really don’t know how to talk to people,” Adrien groaned as he flopped backwards onto his bed.
Plagg’s snickers did nothing to help his bruised ego. “You need to learn to talk to girls. Especially cute witches.”
Eyes flashing red, Adrien sneered. “Shut up, Plagg.”
“Oh nooo,” the familiar waved a paw. “Those eyes are so scaryyy. Whatever will I do?”
The vampire rolled his eyes, glancing at the familiar in silence for a moment. He sat up, fiddling his fingers in his lap. “Do you really think she wants to be friends with me?”
“It’s what she said, wasn’t it?”
“But she could just be playing a trick. Witches are tricksters, aren’t they? What if she’s just trying to befriend me so she can lure me in and kill me? I wouldn’t blame her. Revenge would make sense,” the words just kept bubbling from his lips. He had so many fears at the thought of a new friend. Especially a friend he wasn’t even supposed to have.
Plagg hopped from the nightstand onto the bed beside the flustered vampire. He patted a paw on his thigh. “I think she meant it, kid. Witches aren’t as tricky as you think. I would know, wouldn’t I?”
Nodding, Adrien agreed. His chest was still tight with fear, but he knew that Plagg was certainly the witch expert in their companionship. “Yeah, you’re right.” He paused for a moment, thinking back to his moment with Marinette. His cheeks pinked a little. “Plagg… she called me cute.”
The cat familiar burst into laughter.
Marichat May Day 5: Cooking/Baking
“Do you like baking, Marinette?”
Marinette didn’t answer at first. Her eyebrows were furrowed with concentration and her tongue was sticking out of the corner of her mouth. Her hands were steady as she meticulously applied several green dots of icing to the top of the cake she was working on.
Chat could have watched her for forever.
Finally, she pulled the piping bag back and wiped her forehead, unknowingly leaving a streak of green icing behind. She turned to smile at him and said, “I don’t mind it. I can bake a cake or cookies, but I’m not that good at the more complicated stuff. I tried to do some macarons last year and they all burned to a crisp.”
“You’re good at decorating, though,” he said, looking at the cake she was working on. She’d baked it herself. It was a triple layer chocolate cake with strawberry syrup inside and vanilla frosting outside. It looked delicious.
“Well, I’ve had a lot of practice,” Marinette said, laughing. “Papa used to get me to help him decorate cookies and cupcakes. It was his way of keeping me out of trouble.”
Chat smiled, easily picturing a little four or five year old Marinette bent over a cupcake in concentration. It was a nice image. Much better than the memories of his own childhood, when Gabriel used to fob his son off on baby-sitters and nannies to keep from being disturbed whenever Émilie was away.
“I do a lot of sewing, so my hands are steadier than most people. That helps a lot,” Marinette went on, seemingly oblivious to his suddenly morose mood. “Maman is really good at decorating, too. I probably get it from both of them.”
She picked up the icing bag, adding one last careful dollop, and then beamed. “There! Okay, it’s finally ready.”
“Can I see now?” Chat asked. He’d been banished to a corner of the kitchen after his tail had ‘accidentally’ knocked over a container of salt when Marinette ignored him for too long. As good as his vision was, he couldn’t make out the top of the cake from his position.
Marinette nodded. “But I’m warning you now, don’t touch.”
“I won’t.” He held his claws up and slid off his stool, moving closer. His eyes went wide when he saw the cake.
The top had been artfully decorated with various anime and gaming symbols and even a couple of characters. He spotted the Triforce, the logo from Ultimate Mecha Strike, and Sailor Moon’s bunny signature, as well as a Dragonball, the Avengers ‘A’. and several others. In the middle of the cake were the words ‘Happy Birthday Adrien’ in green.
“What do you think?” Marinette asked anxiously, after Chat had stood there in stunned silence for a little too long. “It’s my classmate’s birthday tomorrow and his dad won’t let have him a party, so - wait, Chat, are you crying?!”
“No!” Chat choked out, blinking rapidly. “No, it’s - it’s amazing, Princess. Your classmate is going to love it.”
Marinette looked at him worriedly, then smiled. “Thanks. I hope so.”
“I know so,” Chat said softly, so touched he could barely stand it. She didn’t know it but tomorrow, Marinette was going to get a huge hug from Adrien.
Miraculous Ladybug crossovers I think would be interesting...
These plot bunnies are up for adoption of you so feel inspired! I have just seen so much Batfam and Avenger crossovers with ML, I wanted to throw a few extra verses into the mix.
xxxHolic (because of course Yuuko would know all about the Kwamis. What if she was the original Guardian of the Miracle Box instead of Master Fu and she gave Marinette and Adrien the ladybug and black cat Miraculous?)
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (this crossover would have the highest potential to generate nightmare fuel stories, I think. What if Kyubey came to Paris posing as a Kwami and reached out to Lila and/or Chloe and other classmates of Marinette and Adrien? Of course Tikki and Plaag recognize Kyubey for what it truly is and are immediately in the mind state of "KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!")
Sailor Moon (the original magical girl team! Imagine if the older Outer Senshi (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) went to Paris and became teachers at Marinette's school because of the high number of akuma monsters that come from there. What if they replaced Miss Bustier and Ms. Mendeleiev for a semester/school year as they investigate?)
Kingdom Hearts (Gabriel fails to get the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous. However, a member of Organization XIII shows up to help him. The Organization's price - they want the girl behind Ladybug (Paris's Princess of Heart) Eventually Sora and his gang show up to help.)
TELL ME ABOUT YOUR RUNE FACTORY MUSES!!!!!
       ASK ME ABOUT MY KIDDOS // @theirwarmth // accepting !!
MY BABIES !!! okay so for anyone that doesn’t know, Rune Factory is a spin off series to the Marvelous brand Harvest Moon games. Literally the subtitle is “A Fantasy Harvest Moon” SO YEAH. VERY MUCH DERIVED FROM HM. But it’s also SO MUCH MORE OKAY so they like.... take the farming and marriage aspects from HM, but then also throw in standard RPG shit like fighting and dungeons and A WHOLE BUTT LOAD OF STORY. Seriously, they’re fantastic games and I urge you all to play them, especially Rune Factory 4 which is where my darling muses Doug & Frey are from.
This got long so the rest is under the cut . . . Also please note that this WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS for Rune Factory 4 !!
F R E Y
We’ll start with Frey since I’m feeling a LOT of muse for her right now ( I still need to write that starter from her for Mipha it’s literally in my drafts I’m just so BUSY h e c k ). This is she:
Tumblr media
Super cute right ? Well she’s the female protagonist for RF4 ( Side Note: RF4 was the first RF game where you could choose what gender to play as at the very beginning !! ) In the game, she’s tasked with guarding these things called the Rune Spheres & bringing them to Selphia ( the setting of the game ) to save the Divine Dragon that resides there. On the way she gets attacked by members of the Sechs Empire ( the antagonists for . . . pretty much all of the RF games ) which leads to her FALLING FROM AN AIR SHIP, landing DIRECTLY on the dragon she’s on the way to see, and losing all of her memories outside of her name. She’s then mistaken as the princess that was said to be coming to visit from the kingdom of Norad ( Selphia is a city within that kingdom ). She denies this, and it eventually turns out that she is not, in fact, a memory of the royal family because the ACTUAL PRINCE shows up like the next day. But he wants to be able to do his own shit so he allows Frey to continue w/ the princess-y duties that she’s been doing & allows her to continue staying in the castle along w/ the Divine Dragon. SO ANYWAY W/ THE BACKSTORY OUT OF THE WAY, a quick crash course through the rest is that she becomes best friends with the Divine Dragon, goes through dungeons to help solve mysteries plaguing the town, saves these 4 people known as the Guardians who were trapped as boss monsters within those dungeons, and then goes on a journey to save her new dragon BFF from literally dying. IT’S WILD.
Even though she’s a protagonist, she isn’t necessarily an avatar. Frey has her own dialogue, and thus her own personality. She’s an incredibly passionate, determined young woman who isn’t one to let things get her down. She’s spunky with a dry wit, finding plenty of humor in the enigmatic cast that makes up the other residents of Selphia. She flows to the beat of her own drum, and as such can seem rather passive. Her determination can also be seen as a reckless sort of stubbornness, and sometimes she does things despite being told not to. She’s also known as something called an Earthmate, which means she has a very strong connection to the Earth, and is able to see / communicate with the spirits that reside there. It is also what gives her the power to transform the Guardians back into their human forms. OVERALL SHE’S JUST NEAT AND SPUNKY AND I LIKE HER A LOT.
Of your muses I could see her getting along really well with: Kairi, Demyx, Mipha, Denki, Momo, Shiho, and Cindy !!
D O U G
Doug is the absolute light of my LIFE okay. He was one of the first muses I ever consistently played, so him and I have been through the RINGER together. This is his stupid face:
Tumblr media
Doug is played off as being the comic relief character, but in truth he is one of the most important characters with arguably the darkest storyline in possibly the entire franchise. In the Rune Factory universe, Doug is a dwarf, which is a race that lives primarily in clans. Doug grew up in Clan Silvershield which was like . . . just on the outskirts of the Sechs Empire. WELL the Sechs came in and absolutely desecrated his village. Doug was away at the time, probably playing in the nearby woods. When he came back, everything was on fire and everyone was dead, including his family. At this point, the Sechs found him and ‘took him in’. From then they brainwashed him into believing the Divine Dragon in Selphia was the one who destroyed his village. He agreed to go to Selphia to spy for the Sechs, believing that doing so would give him the opportunity to avenge his family. He arrived there sullen, just a husk of what we see of him in game, and is then taken in by an elderly young woman named Blossom who raised him from that point on. With her and the warmth of the other villagers, his walls dropped and he became the friendly, outgoing, hot-headed boy we see today. That said, shit still goes down and he has to eventually learn that it was not Ventuswill that destroyed his village, but the Sechs themselves. He literally spends an entire arc as an opposing force and juST GHOSTS YOU FOR A WHILE. Did I mention that he’s a marriageable candidate ? Cuz he is, but you literally can’t marry him until you BEAT THE ENTIRE GAME.
Anyway yeah, I love this stupid boy. He loves food, but specifically hates bread. Thinks it’s the worst thing to ever grace the Earth ( can’t relate but ok ). He’s absolutely an act first think later type in all senses of the word, doing stupid, reckless shit & saying things without thinking which ends up upsetting people. That said !! While the game tries to make you think that he is, Doug is NOT an idiot. There’s literally a part early on in the game where he saves the protagonist from getting jumped by monsters, and then teaches her magic & lectures her about she needs to be more aware of her surroundings. He’s not the type to get an A on a math test, but he’s unbelievably street smart. He’s got some insecurities about being dwarf who can’t forge, but despite that he still tries to when it’s important ( ie his reverse proposal ). He’s a smart mouth with no respect for authority, but he shows how much he cares through his actions. He worries about Blossom as though she truly was his family. He has a rivalry with another member of the town, but still sends him birthday presents for his birthday. He’s !! So good !! I’m very soft for Doug of Clan Silvershield !!
Of your muses I could see him getting along really well with: Adrien, Denki, Kairi, Olette, Terra, Paya, and Claudia !!
