Can of worms: open. All right, let me learn you a thing.

When most people think of chicken pot pie, they think of something like this:

Warm, delicious, nourishing, and yes, it is indeed a pie. I enjoy these, don’t get me wrong. Here’s the thing: a Pennsylvania Dutch person, like me, knows that this is not really chicken pot pie. To us, this is a meat pie.

“Proper” chicken pot pie is a soup.

Much better. See, “pot pie” is actually not what this is called. The original PA Dutch term is bott boi, which refers to a hearty soup or stew made with whatever meat the family had on hand - chicken, turkey, game, etc. You would put it in a pot with some vegetables and noodles and voila, bott boi. It was created as a way to use up leftovers and is somewhat analogous to southern chicken and dumplings.

But Lady, I can hear someone asking, isn’t that just chicken noodle soup? Well, no. And yes. Chicken noodle soup usually has a translucent broth made from chicken stock. Bott boi is specifically a cream-based soup. So it’s a bit more like cream of chicken noodle soup. But it’s really its own thing. The phrase bott boi has gotten mangled through the common tongue and turned into pot pie. Well, it is made in a pot and it does resemble the filling of a meat pie, so I guess that’s the reason.

Anyway, there you are. That’s my favorite food. @thequeenbeegeek often requests it when she visits - she calls it “Momma Weasley soup,” which is probably a better name anyway. ;)

Question if you'll indulge me: Is Babs being Commission Gordon's niece/adopted daughter established and only canon in pre-nu52? Thanks!

That is correct, but I think even that was retconned at some point of the pre-nu52. I could be wrong and mixing it up with a cartoon that was happening at the time or something. But more or less, that is correct.

Good morning, lovely humans

Well, apparently, I have arrived. Apparently, my writing causes such umbrage, that it inspired a little boy with an abundance of time on his hands that I find enviable to sit down and make a video.

Now, I’ll be perfectly honest, I only really know half of what’s going on - this all went down after I went to bed last night. My incomparable co-author @ladynorbert texted me this morning to warn me off reading the reviews in question on “The Lady and the Lion”, so I have not seen them. And the video critique was taken down before I even got out of bed. All I know is that we pissed off a mansplaining little dudebro last night - and that I did it, as ladynorbert pointed out, IN MY SLEEP. I think I can die happy.

Thank you all so, so, SO much for rushing to our aid. I was not there to comfort ladynorbert, and honestly, that’s the part that pisses me off. I couldn’t give less of a tinker’s cuss about the child who made the video, it just incenses me that my dear extremely giving and talented friend was forced to endure that on her birthday of all days.

So thanks so much all of you!! I am unworthy to stand in your presence. A special thanks too to @aerophin and @roksanalyasin for being our crusaders. As Neil Gaiman once advised, no matter what happens “make good art” and so make good art I shall.

What Discord servers have you joined?

None. When I first joined I was on a server for writers and artists who were part of the “Bioware network” or something like that, but that’s been dissolved so I’m just noodling around on my own.
