The new Pokemon episode is sending me back to my days as a preteen shipper.
No, for real, Pokeshipping was like the very first thing I shipped ever and this is such a burst of happy nostalgia.

I’ve been watching Aim to be a Pokemon Masters and I have to say I’m enjoying the approach the writers seem to be taking with Ash in regards to becoming a Pokemon Master
By that I mean, it seems that the series is implying Ash is already a Pokemon Master and has been one for quite some time. That being a Pokemon Master was never about catching them all (which is how it was originally defined by) or being World Champion (which helped but not the key component). But rather it was Ash’s ability to connect to any Pokemon and his willingness to help out any Pokemon in need that made him a master. Like Ash’s ability to connect to his team were certainly key to his win the Orange Islands, the Battle Frontier, become the first Alolan Champion and finally become the World, but he help so many more Pokemon (and people) just on his everyday travels.
It’s actually really sweet because it means every episode in the series was actually helping Ash become the Pokemon Master he was destined to be. From meeting Pikachu from that very first time, having to earn its respect and protecting it from the flock of Spearow to whatever the final Ash episode may entail. All of it was important. As being a Pokemon Master is not about being the very best trainer/coordinator, or having a complete Pokedex, but the ability to connect to any and every Pokemon.
