+2k of words! enjoy
.
Playing in Manchester United was your dream since being a kid, seeing as your father was British and an United’s die hard fan. But with your mother being a American, your family living in America and you playing for the U.S., it was just a dream. Especially because if you left, then you could lose your spot on the national team. But when you won the World Cup and after a Olympic medal, a loto f clubs were looking for you. One of those being Man United. You knew you couldn’t let it pass. So after a couple of weeks you called your agent and said you would do it. You would play for United.
It all happened really quick and as soon as the paper work was done between both clubs you were in England, ready to meet your new teammates. Marc, Katie and Millie being the first one you meet.
“We are really happy to have you here, welcome to your new home!” Marc says after greeting you and introduce you to the women.
“Yes, all the girls were really happy when we heard you were our new teammate. Hope you can feel at home and if you ever need anything, count on me.” Katie hugs you, Millie doing the same thing after.
“We’ll let you change into your kit then we’ll go see the others.” They left the room so you can change.
.
All of the girls were amazing and you couldn’t be more happier. Soon all of them became your friends, but you couldn’t help but grow closer to the special duo, Ella Toone and Alessia Russo. Since they were always making you laugh, always helping you out if you needed to go somewhere and didn’t know how to get there. In a matter of time the duo became a trio. It was like you knew each other since childhood.
.
As expected, you didn’t got called to the national team onto the first months being at Man United, so you went to see your two friends play for the Lionesses. Wanting to do a surprise, you show without telling them. So when they’re warming up and Mary spots you on the stands with a Man United shirt, she smiles and waves at you. You wave back, also smiling. Only looking away when Alessia comes into the field.
Damn, she looks good in white and blue. You think to yourself. The blonde doesn’t see you right away, always being too oblivious to everything. Everyone always say Alessia was like the sun, but you liked to thing she was like the moon. Always bringing light when things are dark or making things more beautiful. The moon was always beautiful to you, no matter how it was. And so it was Alessia. On all these months you have been friends with her, you couldn’t help but have a crush (or so it was what you thought it was, just a crush. A little one.). How could you not? When she was always there for you, giving you rides home, holding your hand when you were on the girls night watching a horror movie that you were scared, even when she was scared too. Or when she would fall over every once because she was too focused on you while you were talking to her at practice and you would always catch her by the waist and she would always whisper a little “thank you” with flushed cheeks. Or when she would always waits for you to get into the bus even if she didn’t sit with you. Or when she was always the first one to come to you when you got tackled down and just leave when you were on your feet and reassured her that you were okay. And, anyway... You could stay forever talking about how an amazing person Alessia Russo was.
Ella yelling your name brings you back to reality. Apparently Mary told her and Alessia about you being on the stands, so now both women are coming your way with huge smiles on their faces.
“Why you didn’t told us you were coming?” Ella says while jumping the barrier to hug you.
“Hello to you too! I wanted to do a surprise.” You laugh at her antics and hug her back. Alessia jumps the barrier too and soon you are on her embrace.
“It’s nice to see you! I missed you.” The blonde says on your ear, while in the hug.
“I missed you too. You look good on blue and white.” You smirk to her breaking the hug, seeing the way she’s blushing.
“Will you come into the field after the match?” Ella asks alredy starting to make her way back.
“Only if you guys want me to.” Alessia hugs you one more time, leaving a soft kiss on your cheek.
“Good luck, make a goal for me.” Is all you say to her, before she leaves.
.
You spent the entire match watching Alessia, you were always mesmerized by her skills.
She indeed score a goal, hugging her teammates in celebration and after they started to come back to their position she turned to were you were and pointed to you with that smile that only she had on her face, saying the goal was for you.
Lionesses won by 2x0 and as the final whistle blew you joined the fans on applauding the team. After shaking hands with the others players Mary came to get you into the field.
“Congrats on the win, good game Mearps!”
“Hey there, American!” Rachel greets you, hugging you tight. You guys having had meet because of Millie. You start a little conversation, talking about some new things about your lives when you get interrupted by Alessia walking your way but misreading her last move and almost falling over. Just not hitting the ground because of holding on you for dear life.
You can hear the others girls laughing, making the blush on her cheeks even harder.
“You okay?” You ask after she composes herself.
“Yeah, I’m sorry.” She looks away, being really embarassed.
“It’s okay. I have no problem catching you.” You put your arm over her shoulders and brings her closer.
“Lessi had literally fallen for Y/N!” Toone says still laughing and you can hear the groan Alessia makes.
“Oh my gosh, I hate you so much Toone! Stop it!” She groans again, hiding her face on your neck.
“Do you want to go? I can take you home. We can order pizza if you want too.”
“I would love to. Just let me get changed.” She kisses your cheek and goes to the changing room.
Little did you know that the team actually was going out to celebrate and Alessia just skipped it to  have more time alone with you. Or how all the feelings were shared. She felt the same. She wanted you, but being all shy and don’t wanting to lose you, she choose to keep all of it to herself, so she would be safe.
.
The ride to Alessia’s house was filled with small talk, both of you always being comfortable around each other.
“Oh, I forgot to mention earlier but that was a beautiful goal. For real, it was insane to see.” You park the car in front of her house.
“Oh, it wasn’t that much, stop. But it did it for you, like you asked.” She says while getting out of the car, avoinding to look at you. Too bad she couldn’t see the stupid smile on your face. She was just too cute for you to handle.
“Do you want some wine?” She asks after you’re both on the couch, having alredy ordered your pizza.
“Just one glass, I still have to drive home.”
“You could always just stay here the night, I won’t mind.” She says looking at you but doesn’t waits for your answer, already making her way to the kitchen to get whine for both of you.
And for a moment you think that you wanted this forever. Stay the night with her, drink whine and eat whatever after matches, support her while playing for England... Maybe you’re bad for it, like really bad. Yeah, maybe you’re in love.
“Is everything good?” You’re pulled out of your thoughts by her.
“Yeah, I was just... Thinking about something, nothing for you to worry about.” You take the glass of her hands and take a sip.
“Okay, but if you want to talk about anything I’m right here for you.” She sits across you and takes your hand on hers.
“Thank you, but it’s really nothing. So... How have you been?” You change the subject.
“I’m fine now, but I don’t know how I would be if I didn’t score today. I have been pulled on a lot of pressure by the fans and by myself too, for not being able to score in the past few games. I felt like I was letting everyone down and didn’t deserve to be there.” You squeeze her hand, drawing circles in the back.
“I’m sorry you ever felt this way, If I knew about it I would never let you think about not deserving to be there. You are an amazing player, Lessi. And you’re so important on the field. Like, the Enemy should be scared if you ever touch the ball on their side of the line, because you could make a mess of them. Your skills are amazing, you are amazing. You deserve to be there and if people even think otherwise they’re probably mad.” You can see how hers cheeks turn a little bit red, she has that beautiful smile of hers on her face. In that moment all you wanted was to kiss it but you couldn’t so you bring her hand to your lips and give it a little kiss.
“Y/N, I...” Alessia starts saying but is interrupted by the doorbell. “It’s the pizza, I should take this.” She finishes her glass of whine and to the door. You take this time to recompose yourself, for a moment you thought she feels the same way about you. But that’s impossible, right? She only sees you as a friend. Plus, she probably doesn’t even like girls.
When she comes back, you both go to the back of her house and sit on the little table that’s there. That being on of Alessia’s favorite space of her house. Being her safe place to enjoy the sky and the piece. You both eat in silence, only each other, the sky full of starts and the music the blonde put on her phone.
“I love the moon, it’s the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.” You say after a while, having had four glasses of whine. The other woman just hums in agreement, enjoying her last glass, already feeling a little drunk.
“To me love is like the moon. It has many faces, in each part of the world you see it differently, but it’s always there. Every night. Even if it’s raining and you can’t see, you know it’s there. It have the power to make things better, to make you feel better. All you have to do is stop and feel it, admire it. It brings beauty to the darkness and is always mysterious.” You say, still looking with admiration to the moon, but saying the last past looking at her.
“And here was I thinking you couldn’t make me more in love...” She mumbles but you are close enough and paying attention enough to listen.
“You- What?” You get up making the forward look at you in panic.
“Shit! I’m- I’m sorry, I didn’t...” She gets up and starts to back away from you.
“No, no, no...” You grab her hand. “I feel the same. I’m in love with you.” Her eyes widen making you smile.
“Can I kiss you?” You get closer, cupping her cheek. She only nods, not fully trusting her words.
You smile one more time before kissing her lips softly and it felt exactly how you felt when watching the moon.
“You are my definition of moon.” You say after breaking the kiss, but still in each others arms, so close that your lips were on hers while talking.
“Gosh, kiss me again.” She grabs the back of your neck and starts another kiss.

3 - when she could have anyone else?
series masterlist
~~~
Getting a call midst your mid-day nap was not on your list of ideal ways to spend a Sunday.
Calming down the part of you that suggested taking the small buzzing device and chucking it out the window, you groggily reached for the offending item, not bothering to look at the caller ID before picking up.
Mind realizing it could be important, you managed to huff out a somewhat polite ‘hello’, doing your best to stay conscious regardless of the comfort of the soft sheets and warm sunlight surrounding you.
“Can you please explain how Less has no idea how she likes her coffee?”
The blaring voice of Ella rang through your speaker, you wincing at the loudness and pulling the phone away from your ear.
Audibly groaning, you wanted to cry.
Of course, of all the things you could be woken up for on a cherished day off, it’d have to be this.
Wanting to get the conversation over with as quickly as possible, you brought the phone back to your face, eyes closing as your head snuggled into your pillow.
“Is this really why you called?”
Apparently your response was not the one Ella was looking for, the blonde’s voice getting louder.
“HOW? How does Less not know her own coffee order? Explain, because this is absurd!”
“Ella…” This was not a conversation you would’ve liked to get into, wanting more than anything to go back to bed, to your dreamland, where there was no phones, no talks of coffee, and no Ella Toone.
“Listen Tooney, I have no idea. I think that question would be best answered by Alessia herself y’know? The person you’re currently hanging out with, as we speak, as of right now? The one you took from me on our one day off?”
Your frustration seeping through slightly, you willed yourself to calm down. Taking a breath in, you focussed on listening to the other girl’s response.
“She won’t tell me! She says it’s a secret between you and her and I can only know if you tell me!”
Shaking your head into your pillow, you muffled a soft scream before pulling away.
“Tooney, I want you to think back to all the times we’ve all gone out for coffee together...”
Giving her a second to recall the memories, you continued.
“Now, from all those times, how many times has Alessia ordered for herself?”
There was a pregnant pause on the other end of the line, it all finally sinking in for the midfielder.
“…you always order for her!” The revelation caused Ella’s voice to get louder and louder till she was practically yelling once again.
Sighing, you took a breath to calm yourself down.
“Yes. Good job. Great observation. Now, hopefully that answers your question because regardless, I’m going back to sleep. Goodnight Ella.” You didn’t bother waiting for a response, instead hanging up abruptly.
Gently chucking your phone to the other side of the bed, you pulled on your covers, getting comfortable once again.
Eyes closing, you left whatever little sleepiness you had consume you, sinking into the soft sheets.
Finally.
Or so you thought.
It was just as sleep was coming to you again, your eyes closing heavily, that the phone rang once more.
Cursing, you swatted your hand across the bed, eyes still closed. Finding it, you promptly turned off the ringer, the resounding noise disappearing.
Exhaling contentedly, you got comfortable once more, duvet tucked underneath your chin, Alessia's old hoodie the perfect cross between thick and thin for the slight chill in the air.
You were just about to fall asleep again, finding sleep coming to you in the tiniest hints, only to find yourself rudely interrupted by the default ringtone for what seemed like the hundredth time.
Audibly cursing, you grabbed your phone aggressively this time, swiping blindly at your screen until you could hear voices on the other end.
“Ella this better be good or I swear to God I’ll somehow accidentally end up tackling you with my studs up!”
“Now that’s not very nice of you, is it love?” That wasn’t Ella’s shrill voice…
“…Less?” You winced, your voice coming out a little quieter now. You did not want her to think you threatened Ella every time she called you, even though your girlfriend was probably well aware at how trying it could be to sometimes talk to the brunette.
“Hi baby.” You could hear the smile in her voice and you let out an audible sigh of relief.
You could hear Alessia chuckle. “You’re that excited that it isn’t Ella?”
“You don’t understand…I was in the middle of the world’s best nap, and out of nowhere she’s grilling me on your coffee choices! Me! When you’re there next to her!” You whined, making your voice heard.
“In her defence, I told her to call you…”
“Less, whyyyyyy…”
Hearing her melodic laugh at your complaining, you smiled.
“Anyways, I called you because I do need to order and I have no idea what to get.”
Rolling your eyes because of course, you grinned, running through your usual list of questions as you always did, before suggesting a drink to the blonde.
‘Hot/cold, sweet/a bit salty, spicy/sugary’  the basic low-down really.
Once. you had come up with a good drink for the blonde, you recited it to her, having her say it back to you once to confirm she had it correct.
You still couldn’t believe Alessia didn’t know what she liked and you told her as much, your shock carrying over the phone.
“It’s more fun when you do it for me,” the cheeky response the only explanation that you got. “Plus, it’s too hard to remember so many options when I could just ask my personal coffee connoisseur.”
Shaking your head in amusement, you hummed in response, glad that this was becoming a little tradition of yours.
“Anyways, I’ll let you sleep now. Have a good a nap, yeah?”
“Will do, just please ask Tooney to not call me,” you begged.
“I can do that…thank you and sorry for waking you! I’ll see you when I get home! I love you!”
Returning the sentiment, you gently put your phone on your nightstand, not even mad that sleep was evading you for the next couple minutes.
Smiling as you wandered off to dreamland again, you knew you were too far gone for the blonde, unable to fathom the thought of somebody else as your partner, indecisiveness and unwillingness to learn her coffee never a bother when it came to Alessia.
Really, at the end of every day, no matter what, you couldn't imagine yourself with anyone else but Alessia. In fact, you didn't want anybody else, the blonde your favourite person, the best part of you.
Ooh a bit of an angsty one!
Can we have something about when Alessia transferred from United to Arsenal and how grumpy reacted to the fans (not all fans but quite a lot of them) turning on Alessia?
Something about the transition period and how they adjusted to the new club please!
Love your writing so much!
the past couple of weeks had been a whirlwind for alessia but even more so for you. you weren't used to change nor were you a big fan of change.
you'd had basically the same routine your entire life. same bedtime, same favourite teddy, same favourite colour, same amount of sweets you were allowed before bed.
it was all you had ever known and so was manchester.
so when you got home from being australia it was a little weird to you not be going back home with your auntie ella and the other united girls like you usually would after an england camp.
when leaving for the world cup you didn't realise that, that was going to be the last time you were going to be in that home in manchester, the last time you would wake up in that home.
instead, this time you were going back with lotte and the other girls who lived in london for some strange reason unknown to you.
"mummy! where auntie ella going?" you asked as sat on top of the trolley of suitcases as alessia had went to say goodbye to her best friend not knowing when she would next see her.
"back to manchester lovie" she smiled softly, her voice a little shaky. your eyebrows knitted together a litttle, "why we not go with her, we live dere too!" you pouted, your face struck with confusion.
"lovie, we had this talk before we went to australia" alessia had stopped in the airport, dismissing lotte who stood waiting for her. signalling that you'd catch them back up.
"talk?"
"about mummy,, moving to a new club" the blonde spoke calmly trying to re jog your little memory as your mouth opened to an 'o' shape. realisation hitting you that change was happening as the talk memory appeared back into your head.
"your here, i thought you were watching tv in my room" you jumped a little at the sound of your mummy's voice as she came into your room. you'd been playing a game with your dolls on your bedroom floor.
"you wan be this one?" you asked holding up a doll towards your mum as she smiled, nodding and joined you on your bedroom floor.
"before we play though, i actually need to talk to you" your mum sounded serious as a frown appeared on your face, mummy only ever wanted to 'talk' when you had done something you were not supposed to of.
"oh- your not in trouble lovie"
"so mummy has been asked to join a new football club, called arsenal" she explained to you as the doll in your hand dropped slightly. a slight silence filling the room.
"you still play here?" you asked as your mum shook her head, "no lovie it means we have to move down to london"
you paused for a minute, it processing in your head "oh, but who play tag with after training?" you sadly smiled, you would play tag with millie and ona after each training session.
"i'm sure many of the girls will love playing tag with you, beth and leah play there too" mummy said as you looked back up from the ground.
"from england?" you asked as mummy nodded. it took a little convincing from you but once alessia had assured you, after you were a bit hesitant you agreed and didn't feel as sad about leaving manchester.
since the day in the airport, you had settled into your new home in london. it had already been better than manchester as you already seeing your uncles and grandparents more in the past week than you had the entire time that you lived in manchester.
you had made friends at your new nursery, settling in quick — quicker than alessia expected. as well as decorating your room the colour you wanted as well as picking out a new bed, which mummy had described to you as being your first big girl bed.
alessia of course had already started training for preseason. however you hadn't had a chance to go to training with being at nursery so today would be the first time meeting your mummy's teammates.
you were scared.
you don't remember meeting the united girls, to you they had always been there. but mummy said that was because you were just a baby when you first met those girls.
walking hand in hand with your mummy, your other hand holding your elephant teddy, esme which you'd had since you were really little held close and tight to your chest.
your mummy leading you to where she would put her training bag away, along with your bag before leading you down the long corridors to where the team was having lunch.
the arsenal girls knew that you were coming today and had asked alessia what was the best way to introduce themselves to you, not wanting to make you feel overwhelmed by all the new faces.
alessia suggesting that it be one by one as you weren't the biggest fan of big crowds and being fussed over.
you tugged on your mums arm, asking to be picked up as she did placing you on her hip as she walked deeper into the room. there being a few faces which you recognised that being the three england girls but once you spotted some of the other girls you hid your face deep in your mum's neck.
"oh is that you tiny?" beth beamed as you kept your face hidden feeling the movement of alessia sitting down. her hand rubbing up and down your back to try and soothe you, hoping you would come out from your little shell you'd put yourself in.
"she's gone all shy" alessia shrugged as she tried to peel you from your hiding spot, only whines coming from you as you dug your face deeper into her chest.
"shy? if there's one thing tiny isn't and that's shy!" you heard leah say, as well as your mum hum as she nodded her head in agreement.
it was true when you had the chance you could easily talk for england and would most definitely come away with a gold medal in that type of competition. alessia had her brothers and ella to thank for your chattiness even though she loved to hear you ramble on about anything and everything.
“tiny! do you want to see these photos of myle?” beth tried this time, you had been obsessed with the little puppy that beth had just gotten. myle was so small and any time you were at beth’s you would sit and talk to myle — you considered myle to be one of your best friends since you’d moved to arsenal as she too was getting used to all the new faces just like you were.
this seemed to do the trick as you slowly peeled yourself from your mums chest, half your face turning to look at beth, as the other half was covered with your grey elephant teddy. beth who was on her phone more than likely looking for the photos.
you looked up to your mum still unsure as you could see out the corner of your eye the unknown faces of your mummy’s new teammates. your mummy smiling nodding her head enthusiastically as you slowly climbed down from her lap and over to beth who was sat in between leah and viv.
you fingers in your mouth, you other hand having esme the elephant in it as you walked nervously over to beth, standing next to her as she lifted you onto her lap.
her phone screen in front of you as she showed you an arrange of photos of myle, some with a little scarf wrapped around her collar, some of her just lying asleep around beth and viv’s apartment and the rest were myle with some of the girls who were sat in the room with you right now.
“who dat?” you pointed to one of the girls who was holding myle another one of the girls sat next to her as your face scrunched at the unknown people.
“that’s vic and steph, look their over there!” beth pointed the two girls out as they both noticed you looking at them sending you a small wave, as you returned it. alessia watching on as she talked with leah and viv a smile appearing on the blondes face as she watched you slowly come out of your shell.
beth carried on swiping through the photos as you had now learned who kyra, katie, caitlin and stina were sending them all a small shy wave as beth pointed them out in the canteen.
“who dis?” you pointed to the girl in the photo as beth has swiped to the next photo.
“and that’s lia” beth smiled as you looked at her confused, “no that not leah? le there” you frowned as you pointed to the blonde leah who was sat with your mum across the table from you.
beth chuckling lightly at your little misunderstanding, “no tiny, there’s another lia! look there” beth pointed to the other lia as you awh in realisation, sending the lia a little wave like you’d done with the other girls.
“there two leah’s?” you turn to look at beth, who nodded with a smile on her face.
beth carried on, pointing out each of the arsenal girls as you did your signature shy wave at them as beth felt a slight feeling of accomplishment that you’d began to come out your shell, yes you may have not actually met the girls properly but you’d been introduced to and anyway there was plenty of time for you to meet them, the arsenal girls would not only becoming your mummy’s new teammates but they in time would become part of your family.
alessia had now been at arsenal for a few months now and you both had fully settled in, your home in london had finally come together and your room was fully decorated and in your opinion a lot better than your room in manchester.
and now the league had started and you’d now become fully acquainted with all the girls and as your mum had expected once you’d come out your shell, you loved them all.
after beth sat you down and showed you all the girls, it took you a few days to learn all there faces but you had now learned all about them and they had learned all about you and your little habits too.
katie who you learned was irish and had an accent that you found funny as she would say some words funny like the word three always had you in stitches as it sounded like tree, she was cool too as she would let you get away with being a little naughty sometimes.
caitlin, steph and kyra were all australian, they all had a funny accent to you too but the three of them were all different. caitlin was quiet but she would always let you pass the ball to her and play tag with you once training was done.
steph would let you talk to her as she answered all your questions you had about australia especially after just spending the summer there. and kyra well she would help you cause trouble, she would always sit with you and colour as well as dance around the changing room with you when the music was on.
vic was someone who mummy would sometimes take to training, and who mummy would spent a lot of time with when at training. vic was dutch just like viv. and vic wasn’t a big fan of mummy’s driving and on a morning when you were going to training with the as you sat in the back vic would sometimes sit and complain about mummy’s driving as you would sit in the back in your car seat giggling.
and for lia it had taken you a few days to wrap your head around there being two leah’s as in your mind you had only met one leah and that was blonde leah. so you had decided to give them your own nicknames, leah one and lia two just so you didn’t get confused.
as for the rest of the girls they had all been very welcoming to you and your mummy, helping you both to fit in.
and now it was onto the second match of the season against manchester united, the first time alessia was going to be back since she left. to say she was a little nervous was an understatement but she was trying her best not to show it.
“you okay?” lotte asked knowing how much the blonde had been dreading this fixture to come, and it being so early on in the season was not helping. as she walked into the leigh sports village with alessia, you following suit next to her.
wearing your new arsenal shirt, russo printed on the back in big white capital letters over the top of your hoodie it being a cold october night down in manchester something alessia definitely wasn’t missing since moving back down south.
alessia didn’t say anything just nod as she looked over to her england teammate, her lip bottom lip between her teeth as her eyes making sure not to loose you as you three reached the changing room.
you sat on the bench quietly watching your ipad munching on a few snacks you’d been given as your mummy got changed and did her pre match routine.
“mummy?” you looked up from your ipad, your mum doing her hair as you watched her wrap her bobble around her bun. “yes lovie?” she smiled at you.
“we see auntie ella and mazza?” you asked, you knew that arsenal were playing manchester united as you had overheard mummy talking to auntie ella on the phone you then interrupting and talking to ella and how you were excited to see her after a few months not yet being totally used to not seeing her every single day of the week.
the excitement following through the entire week as it was all you had spoken about to anyone you’d seen, even the staff at your nurseries knew.
“after the game we can, i’m sure they are both just excited to see you” she smiled as you nodded excitedly, you little legs swinging from the bench as mummy kissed the top of your head before smoothing out her kit to change into, your attention going back to your ipad.
the match had now begun and was just nearing half time and you were sat with leah one who had come down on the bus with the team, but she still had a big ouchie on her knee meaning she couldn’t play.
you were wrapped in a blanket with your big thick puffer on which mummy had made sure to zip right up before she ran onto the pitch.
watching with a smile, but that smile quickly dropped as then you noticed.
the manchester united fans were booing your mummy. the same fans which would cheer and shout her name while asking her to sign and take photos with her just a few months ago. they were now booing.
the first time you thought maybe it was just a mistake, but then it happened again. every time your mummy touched the ball, they booed.
“why they booing?” you asked, as leah frowned not knowing how to exactly explain it to you but she could tell it was upsetting you.
“i’m not sure tiny” leah sighed as she pulled you onto her lap so you had a better view of the pitch. making sure your blanket was kept around you to keep you from the crisp cold air.
“me no like it” you huffed, a frown not replacing the smile that was on your face moments ago.
“it’s okay, look your mummy’s got the ball, she might score!” leah tried to turn your focus away from the sound of the booing but that’s all you could hear, it was ringing through your ears.
“stop! make it stop le!” you whined shoving your head into her chest as your fingers went into your ears. leah’s heart dropping as she watched you start to cry, deciding it was probably best to take you into back inside away from all the noise.
alessia watched each step that leah took, you in her arms. your face hidden, alessia knew straight away that the noise of the booing as well as the nasty chants were upsetting you. alessia had learned with time to block them out when she was playing but you were young and took things more sensitively.
leah had turned back to try and catch alessia’s eyes, quickly realising alessia was already watching leah. alessia mouthing a quick, ‘is she okay?’ knowing that was probably a silly thing to ask but she did always before running to get the ball from katie, still noticing the quick thumbs up that leah threw towards alessia.
the booing only spurred alessia on more, wanting to play that well that it would silence them. something the travelling arsenal fans had been good at, chanting louder than the many home fans.
leah took you back into the changing room just after half time has finished doing her best to calm you down and distract you — it taking a few laps around the inside of the stadium and a trip to the food van before the tears stopped.
back in the changing room, you sat down on the bench, your ipad propped up as you both began to watch a cartoon as you placed your blanket across your legs and leah knees being extra careful to not hurt her ouchie on her knee.
you both being very consumed by the bright light of the ipad screen you both didn’t even hear the sound of the changing room door go, the girls beginning to pile in at the end of the match.
“hey lovie” you mum cooed softly, placing a hand on your head slightly startling both you and leah. but you were quickly jumping into her arms as she twirled you around.
“you okay now?” she asked softly as you nodded, your arms wrapped around your mummy’s neck not wanting to let go. alessia rubbing her hand up and down your back as you placed a little kiss on your cheek, mouthing a thank you to leah who smiled nodding her head.
“good” alessia whispered, as you let go from hugging you mum as you sat on her hip. “why were they booing” you asked innocently, the same frown appearing from earlier, since you didn’t get a proper answer from leah, you might from mummy.
“there just upset i left that’s all lovie, there silly anyway and there nothing you-” your mummy began as your frown still stayed, “-need to worry about, okay” she finished booping your nose a small smile flashing on your lips.
“i know you love me and that’s all that matters” mummy told you with a smile as you nodded.
“now we need that smile to come back, cause i don’t think auntie ella and mazza will want to see you all grumpy!”
“Baby?” Alessia's shout echoed through your shared home – the blonde had just come home from practice and was excited to spend a nice, relaxing evening with her girlfriend. But just a couple of seconds later she could see that the rest of the day would be a bit more chaotic than she had originally thought.
“Where are you?” Win, the Arsenal dog whined quietly booping her nose on Alessia's shin, trying to get her attention. With a sigh the striker took off the collar, letting the chocolate lab loose – just to see her race to the living room carpet where she dramatically flopped down with a loud huff.
“Bedroom!” Carefully Alessia opened the door, she never quite knew what to expect behind closed doors when it came to you. Maybe you would be dying your hair, trying her clothes on, or simply staring into the abyss. While she had been preparing herself for the worst, seeing you re-arrange furniture wasn’t so bad.
“Hi, Lessi!” The footballer did her best to ignore the heavy desk you were pushing around, instead giving you a kiss, melting at your huge grin and sparkling eyes.
“You’ve been quite busy huh?” You have been. The Wardrobe had been replaced by the bed and the bed with the desk – or at least your girlfriend guessed that you wanted it to go there.
“Help me?” She didn’t need much convincing, but the sheepish smile on your face certainly did the job.
With a gentle push, you were removed from the desk, as Alessia couldn’t watch your struggle any longer. With just a few expert nudges and lifts it was where you wanted it to be, with you directing the blonde.
“Done!” She brushed off her hands as if she were brushing off dirt from hard labor. With a smug smile, she saw you stare, particularly at her arms (still wearing her Arsenal training tank top), before she pulled you into a bruising kiss – large hands resting on your hips, fingers digging into your bum.
“Did you get groceries amore?” Oh right. There had been a reason why you had wandered in here, you originally had planned to get dressed and go shopping but all of a sudden you just felt an incredible urge to re-arrange the furniture. “Sorry, Lessi.”
With a soft chuckle, Alessia kissed your forehead, she knew that you didn’t do it on purpose, you never did. You just were forgetful. “How about we go out to eat?” That was the most brilliant idea you have ever had. Usually, you would order in because Alessia was too tired from training to actually go out – so it was a nice change. “That sounds fantastic baby. But it’s gonna be noisy and busy, you okay with that?” Your excited nodding was enough to melt her heart all over again. Bless you, so excited to go out with your girlfriend.
“I’m gonna have a shower, yeah?” You didn’t really realize what Alessia said until you heard the water running. “No Lessi!” As fast as you could you made your way to the bathroom, your girlfriend still in front of the mirror taking off her makeup. “Can I have it first? I’ll literally be ten minutes!” With one or two bats of your lashes, the blonde agreed, leaving you in the bathroom.
“Hey, google – play shower list! No, play Date playlist!” You had to repeat yourself, your Alexa was too confused with your wishes. The water was still running as you took Alessia's place, looking at yourself in the mirror. “Should I wash my hair? But I washed it yesterday – Shit. I didn’t do that washing did I?” There was no one to answer you, you were talking to yourself. On your way to the laundry room you nearly tripped over Win. “Winnie! You’re here! Oh, I love you so much!”
“Amore?”
No answer.
“Amore?”
With Win in tow, you climbed back up the stairs, already seeing Alessia with a big goofy smile in the bathroom. “Shit. I left the shower on.” The dog excitedly yapped once she saw the familiar blonde, her tail hitting your leg. “Yes, you did.” She wasn’t mad – she was laughing, and she had shut the water off. “Oh my god. I’m so sorry Less. Promise I’ll go now.”
“You haven’t had it yet?” Win was once again whining for attention but stopped once you leaned down to pet her head. “No, I want downstairs and I was doing the washing because I forgot to do it earlier.” By now you had eventually taken off your socks and outer layer, just in your underwear now.
“I just need to get my skincare stuff.” Why it was in the kitchen you didn’t really remember, however halfway down the stairs, you remembered the disgustingly cold showers. “Need the shower to warm up first!” Up you went again.
Now with your skincare, water warming up, the right music, and the laundry on – you were ready to actually get in, until you weren’t. Your sister had sent you a TikTok, which left you to doom scroll for a while before Alessia eventually came back up. “Are you done amore?”
She knew that you hadn’t been in yet, the half-Italian always knew when you were having a hard day, and today was one of them.
“I don’t know if I want to shower yet.” Your girlfriend could see the frustration building up in you, so she pulled you in a hug. “That’s okay baby. Can I go?” The defeated look on your face was all she needed, cooing over your sad little face before shoving you out the door after calling Win to keep you company.
Whilst the footballer was in the shower, you had tasked yourself with picking outfits for the both of you. Picking Alessia’s was easy, not only did she look good in everything, but all her clothes matched, so there was no bad choice.
When the blonde entered the bedroom she couldn’t help but laugh at you standing in front of the full-body mirror, wearing a cropped puffer jacket you had bought last week. Your lips in a pout and cheeks red in frustration – something was wrong.
“You okay baby?”
Boom, tears. Knowing that Alessia knew you and all your little signs meant the world to you. “I hate this jacket.”
“But you just bought it last week, what’s wrong with it?” by now she was standing in front of you, opening it up, closing it again, turning you around to get a better look, trying to figure out what is bothering you. “It’s the sleeves, look.” You thrust your hands out, the sleeves rising up so that your wrists were out.
“Maybe it’s the hood?” Your girlfriend pulled the zipper on the detachable hood, taking it off and abruptly throwing the hood itself on Win’s head. “What do you think? I think you look great!” You had to admit, that it was better, but the sleeve situation was still bothering you. “Nuh-uh. Wanna get rid of it.” With a final nod, Alessia helped you take it off, throwing the jacket on a pile of clothes. “Ella was looking for one of those.” That was that. Ella would get the jacket.
In the end, Alessia chose your outfit, as you were much too busy playing with Win, who was pawing at you when you had flopped down next to her on the carpet.
Whilst you were getting ready Alessia grabbed the rest of your stuff – that you would definitely forget and run back in and out again until you have everything, like your wallet or lip balm.
As soon as you entered the restaurant you regretted it. There was so much going on and such a wave of noise that greeted you that you nearly just walked back out again – but your girlfriend had already picked out a table in a corner.
“Less I don’t know what to get – I’m like overwhelmed by the options.” Somewhere a child started screaming and a hoard of adults kept laughing at it very loudly. “It’s like I can’t read the words that are literally right in front of me."
It started to beep everywhere in the big room. You had picked a popular restaurant in the area that had pagers that vibrated, blinked, and beeped when your food was ready so you could go and get it.
“What do you feel like amore?” You were zoned out, eyes empty staring at the menu, dead to the world around you. Alessia sighed, she knew that this would happen. “How about Pasta?” You nodded, she knew which one you would like.
A couple of minutes later your girlfriend came back, with one of these little devices in her hand, placing it under her thigh on the stool, desperately trying to soften the glaring noise.
Suddenly the lights dimmed and a birthday song was played loudly over the speakers. As well as you could you held your ears closed as most guests started to sing and clap along. Just as the song ended your food was ready and Alessia went to go and get it.
“How was training Less?” She could see your head swiveling around, overwhelmed by the lights, the noise, and the people – nonetheless, she took your bait, explaining what had happened at the Arsenal training center, appreciating that you tried to listen, and even asked questions.
Ten minutes into eating a children's birthday party sat down at the table next to yours, and as cute as the kids were – they were even louder than your thoughts. Screaming over the top of each other, begging for Ice cream for dinner and even yelling at the poor elders on their other side, trying to show them something.
“Amore? Are you overstimulated? Would you like to get this to go, and just go home?”
“Yes please.”
Alessia went up to the register with your plates, while you packed up all your stuff, grabbing your jackets and Alessia’s little bag that really only held her car keys.
In the car, you couldn’t hold it anymore, and the tears just burst out of you in streams that seemed never-ending. “I-I’m sorry Lessi, jus wanted to be like everyone else but I can't even sit in a restaurant.”. Your girlfriend cooed at you, gently stroking your thigh trying to calm you down a little. “We don’t need to be like anybody else. We can just be… Us!”
The rest of the evening was spent cuddled up on the couch with Win occupying one of the ends, stealing a blanket off of you, as Alessia covered you in hers as well. The wood was still warm when you ate it, even after changing out of the uncomfortable outfits and into big shirts and joggers.
“I love you amore. For you – you don’t need to be like anybody else.”
I'm not sure if you listened, if not you should it's so funny!
but could you do the reader on Jill's scotts coffee club podcast with georgia, leah and keira when leah whips out the cake? x
decided to make this a lowkey stanners x williamson!reader cause i love gee and she's underrated
colin the caterpillar II g.stanway
"-williamson i see you loitering about! get in here!" you looked up as you heard the ever familiar booming voice of one jill scott gesture you over. you caught georgia's eye as her and keira swiveled their heads, furiously waving you over to join them on the sofa, the set for jills podcast randomly plonked in the middle of the indoor training pitch.
"have you still got media duties babe?" your girlfriend asked, moving the microphone away from her mouth and you shook your head. "right in you come then!" keira moved over and patted the space in between her and georgia.
"is this live?" you asked as you took a seat, flashing a grin at jill and ben as you settled yourself on the sofa, your girlfriends spare arm coming to settle on your shoulders. "-and now we are joined by one of the worlds greatest strikers!" jill started, doing a drum roll on her knees.
"-but unfortunately alessia russo has been dodging my calls so we've had to settle for y/n williamson, round of applause please!" jill joked as you playfully rolled your eyes at the dig, showered in claps from the small crowd around you.
"you know you've never asked me on this show jilly, what happened to being your favourite williamson?" you tutted, one of the production assistants hurrying over to give you a mic.
"i had to keep that under wraps, had to suck up to the captain you know!" jill winked as you grinned, leaning a little more into georgia and crossing your legs. "jill might be the best suck up with the worst success rate we've ever met." keira announced as you and georgia hummed in agreement, ben egging you on to continue.
"she sucked up to sarina and the training team so much during the euros man. she'd be getting drinks, recounting plays, grabbing everyone gels-" you laughed at the memory. "-but then georgia could be on her death bed with cramp and jill would still stay on the bench." keira finished, jill agreeing as you all laughed along.
"oh no sorry interruption cause leah's just bought a colin the caterpillar!" keira gasped as she spotted your sister wandering close by with her birthday cake in hand. "go on birthday girl in you come!" you called out as she came closer, jill eagerly agreeing she sit down.
"cmere love." georgias hands found your waist, tugging you up to sit sideways on her lap as keira shuffled across and leah plonked herself down on the end, your legs half draped over keira as georgias hands wound themselves round your waist protectively and she softly kissed the back of your neck.
you were aware parts of the podcast were filmed but neither of you were bothered, it had hardly been the worlds best kept secret the two of you were seeing one another.
georgias instagram was almost like a shrine to you at this point. the two of you both playing for bayern, much to your north london blooded sisters disgust, you spent everyday together and only fell more and more in love as time passed.
"can we eat it?" georgia asked with a gasp as leah nodded, cracking open the box and gently sliding out the childhood favourite. "i think surely i win best sister for gettin her that?" you clapped for yourself, everyone joining in but leah who rolled her eyes.
"no cause you gave it to me after you smashed a cupcake in my literal eye at breakfast!" leah huffed, handing over the cake to keira after she took a large. "it was your forehead leah honestly! you win most dramatic." you countered, the blonde leaning over to smack your leg for the comment as you grinned.
"now now girls play nice play nice!" jill laughed, re-directing the conversation as keira snapped you off a section of cake which you accepted, happily smashing a large portion into your mouth before holding it over your shoulder for your girlfriend to do the same.
"ah i've never been so happy." georgia sighed contently as the two of you took turns munching away at the chocolate cake. "babe thats my finger!" you smacked her with a yelp as the girl got a little too eager and bit your finger among the cake.
"sorry love, no one's safe when there's a colin round." georgia kissed your cheek in apology, happily accepting more of the cake from keira as your sister offered you her piece, grinning as you snapped off the ears with your teeth just like you'd both been brought up to.
"well this is definitely a highlight of the season. four of englands finest just sat here eating a caterpillar like an apple." ben sighed jokingly as the four of you giggled to yourselves, you leaning back into georgia and clutching your stomach as keira took a large bite right from the middle without a care in the world.
"lee five second rule!" you pointed, voice muffled by the large mouthful of cake shoved in it as your sister scrambled to pick up the piece which fell on the floor, blowing on it and popping it into her mouth with a grin.
"now i know this is audio but for the listeners at home they are literally just picking this cake up and shoving it in their mouth!" jill recounted, shaking her head at the sight. "they're eating it like its a hotdog or something!" ben added on as georgia fed you one of the legs with a giggle.
"that foot was incredible." you mumbled out with a happy sigh, still chewing on it as keira smacked your leg in agreement, opening her mouth to show you she also had one in her mouth as your head fell onto georgias shoulder, again clutching your stomach in laughter.
"imagine if sarina see's this that would be so good. we're over here talking about elite performance-" "-elite performance and now we're just picking up a caterpillar without a care-" "-yeah thats it girls, just shove it in your mush!"
"i eat a kitkat before every game anyway." you shrugged, bending down and snapping off another foot from the half in keiras hands. "do you really?" ben asked in surprise.
"she does! she's done it since she was little, used to throw tantrums like you wouldn't believe when our mum tried to stop her." leah smirked at the memory. "i really did. i'd just find out where she hid them and steal one, i'm too fast to catch anyway once she realised." you grinned once you'd swallowed your mouthful of cake.
"i always leave one in her boots for her to find when she's getting ready now at bayern. you should have seen how much crap she copped her first game, no one could believe she was eating a kitkat before her debut." georgia laughed as you fondly patted her knee.
"i run faster when i've had chocolate!" you shrugged, shovelling another mouthful of cake in as everyone laughed. "i mean the proofs in the pudding there wasn't a euros match i didn't see you not have one and you scored about ten goals!" jill laughed.
"could probablys run a 10K marathon right now, light work!" you teased with cake mushed in your mouth and a cheeky grin, georgia kissing your cheek with a smile as you used your thumb to wipe away some loose chocolate from the corner of her mouth before licking it off your finger with a wink.
"right i'm off!" leah announced a short moment later, standing to her feet and brushing the crumbs off her knee's. "am i taking it?" she gestured to the few small pieces left, packing it up at her friends nods.
"well. he were bloody lovely weren't he!"
We're a team. Always - Alessia Russo x reader
Alessia loved football. She loves the fact that she got to do what she loved as a job. It was even more special to her that she was playing for her childhood club.
It was one of the things you had bonded over.
You like Alessia had grown up in a United household. Both of your families were massive Manchester United fans. And there was no doubt that your hearts bled Devil red.
Which meant you were one of the few people who understood her secret heartbreak hidden from the public throughout the season.
You were by her side the entire season as the United management gave her the run around. You stood with her brother as you both reassured her that she deserved more than how they were treating her. You were by her side reminding her of her worth every time she had a moment of doubt.
It got to the point where you were starting to become frustrated on her behalf seeing how she was being treated. Especially after seeing the way she's been playing recently.
So when Katie picked up an injury, Manchester United saw an opportunity to quell your rage.
When news broke of you being named Captain, everyone was delighted. You remember your parents calling you crying saying how proud they were. And how your teammates were so excited for you.
But no one more excited than Alessia.
Honestly it just showed the type of person she was. That even when the club is messing around with her contract negotiations she was happy to celebrate your childhood dream with you.
She was truly perfect.
She was there when after all the celebrations were done, you couldn't help but confess that you felt they only gave you the captaincy to try and sate your anger towards how they were handling Alessia's situation.
She sat by your side like you had with her many times before and reminded you of how great a player you were. That United were lucky to have someone like you representing not just the badge but leading them out onto the pitch.
For every moment of doubt you had about being enough to lead the team, she was there with soft words of encouragement and reassurances as well as simple touches and kisses to distract your from your thoughts.
The trust between you was incredible. And everyone knew it. They saw in how the two of you played together.
But it was only your closest friends that really saw how much you loved each other.
How without even saying anything you were able to communicate with each other. The small things you do for each other. How you were able to calm each other with just a single touch. How you were each other biggest supporters and greatest confidants.
You didn't even expect her to tell you about her contract negotiations or the offers she had coming in. Not wanting to be biased or unfair in anyway.
But she did.
And when you asked her why. She just shrugged and told you that she loved you and this was going to impact you too.
It was the giant elephant in the room. But the both of you knew that Alessia's impending contact negotiations would have an impact on your relationship. As with things not looking good with United, you both knew that she would have to start looking elsewhere.
Rumours were thrown around without a hint of caution. And as much as you tried to play it off, Alessia knew they knawed away at you.
Alessia knew you kinda freaked when you heard clubs from the US were looking for her.
Which is why she made sure to keep you in the loop. If anything the two of you laughed at the different theories and rumours being thrown out by fans and speculators.
Which is why you wonder how everything turned to shit so quickly.
When the news of your dad suddenly becoming sick hit you didn't know what to do.
Alessia knew the second you told her that you were in the process of shutting down. She just didn't expect that you would also shut her out as well. Ever since you were young, it had always been the two of you. You were always a team you handled everything together.
She only really saw you at training. And even then you would bolt right afterwards without so much as a look at your girlfriend. Rushing to get back to your family.
You wanted to keep it a private affair. You didn't want it plastered everywhere. You didn't want your father to be plastered everywhere simply because her father was dying.
Because he was so much more than that.
To you he was your best friend. The first eyes you ever looked into. Your greatest protector. He was your first ever supporter for anything. He was the one who fought every homophobic or sexist parent who started calling you slurs at your football matches when you were younger.
You wouldn't let the tabloids reduce him to just your father because he was so much more than that to you.
So it was mutually agreed that the family would stay close. Nearly every evening everyone was gather and just be together. It would only be later that you would regret not bringing Alessia. As you didn't know what to say when your father asked for her.
He passed away the next day.
And while you were devastated. You and your family took comfort in the fact that everyone was there. Everyone was gathered around. You got to have one last family dinner. He gave you one last goodnight kiss and went to sleep. He went quietly and peacefully.
You had isolated yourself in your family home. You and your mother clinging to each other while your older brother took charge of organizing everything.
But there was only so much you could separate yourself from the world.
As after spending days with your family. You finally turned on your phone to an absolute shit storm.
First of all you smiled softly at all the messages your girlfriend had left you. Constantly checking up on you and making sure you knew she was there for you.
But you noticed how the messages had dwindled.
And then you noticed all the new articles and the social media notifications.
News had finally dropped that Alessia was infact leaving Manchester United at the end of the season. But what really sent you off was all the fan speculations.
Fans posting rude and abusive comments towards Alessia for leaving. If that wasn't enough some people had the audacity to post rumours about the two of you splitting up due to you being cold and leaving training early and not being seen together lately. Suggesting that you were obviously furious at her for leaving the club.
You apologize to your mother but the second you explained the situation she practically pushed you out the door.
You rushed home only to remember that she would probably be at the stadium for a weight session. You redirected your course to the training centre. Only to be swamped by reporters.
You blocked them out as you tried to make your way to the centre but that was until one question caught your ear.
"Does this mean the end of you and Alessia?"
You stopped moving causing them to come to a crashing stop as you glared at who you think asked that absurd question.
"First of all what the hell does that have to do with any of you? And second of all how dare you". You glared at all the reporters, "You think that our relationship is that weak that I'll leave her just because she knew what she was worth and had to go to a different club to finally get what she deserves".
Your eyes softened thinking about the blonde. "Alessia is the best person I know and she deserves a lot more than last minute contact offers and while United might be my club. She's my heart. She's always going to come first. No matter what colours she wears".
You shake your head as you drag a hand through your hair as you try to make your way back into the building. But you are once again stopped.
"But why have you been away so often then? You haven't been seen together for at least a week? Why have you been away from public eye?"
Your glare once again hardened as you whip back around and for a split second thinking about taking his equipment and smashing it to pieces.
"Excuse me for taking some time for myself". You straightened yourself like your father always taught you for moments like these. "I was with family. I was busy grieving". "Not that it's any of your business" you say coldly before shouldering your way into the building making sure to slam the door behind you.
You fly into the weight room only for Ella to immediately go to you. "She's with the physio".
Your eyes widen in panic but Ella once again cuts you off. "Don't worry nothing serious. Just her leg felt a little tight". You nod and send her a small thank you before going to the physio's room.
You peaked your head and smile softly seeing Alessia sitting up on the bench swinging her legs like a child waiting for the physio.
You knock lightly on the door which draws her attention. She looks over with a bored expression but that quickly changes when she sees your face. Her face lights up with her big megawatt smile and her eyes seem to glimmer in a way it only does when your around. "Y/n!" She cheers.
You quickly make your way across to her before she has a chance to jump down from the bench.
"Hey Darling" you smile as you brush some loose hair behind her ears.
"Hi" she replied shyly almost pruning under your affection. She didn't know how much she missed you until now.
You rub your hand up and down her thigh, "Is everything okay?"
She gulps hard but she nods trying to play it off with a forced smile. "Yeah yeah all good".
You fix her with a look, "Lessi..."
She lets out a sigh as her smile fades away revealing her frown and teary eyes. Small whimpers slip through as you bring her in for a hug let her grip you tightly as you play with the baby hairs at the nape of her neck.
Your hold on her tightens as she starts to sob against your neck. You hold for as she cries whispering soft reassurances in between gentle kisses.
Once her sobs begin to subside, you lean down and press a gentle kiss to her neck. "Tell me what's wrong Darling".
She nuzzles into you further as she sniffles, "It's just...". She takes a deep breath as you plant kisses all the way up and down the side of her head. "Ever since they announced that I'm leaving I've been getting all these messages. And the fans have been saying all kinds of stuff".
"What kind of stuff" you say gently as you brush some stray tears off her face.
She bites her lip as her eyes cast downwards. It wasn't until you tilt her head up by her chin that she actually looks at you. "That they're mad that I'm leaving. That if I really loved the club that much I wouldn't leave" she says. She let out a small sniffle as her voice cracks. "That you wouldn't love me anymore cause I'm leaving".
You could practically feel your heart break in your chest as the love of you life starts to cry once again.
You wrap her up in your arms again. "Less" you sigh in her ear, "I love you. But how could you ever believe that?" You pull back just enough as you brush away her tears with your thumb. You cup her face in your hands as you look directly into her eyes.
"Less... I've been in love with you since we were 15. You are my first and only love. There will never be anyone for me other than you". Your frown lightly, "How could you believe that I would ever give you up for something as small as moving club".
She looks away not liking that she's upset you. "It's just..." She sighed as she wipes her nose off her sleeve. "It's just we've been distance lately and I guess the more I heard them the more I believed it".
You sigh knowing that she was right and it was entirely your fault.
You close your eyes as you tilt your head back before looking back at your blonde. "I know I'm sorry". You take her hands in yours, "I know I haven't been the best lately".
She squeezes your hands, "It's just we usually talk. We usually handle this stuff together". Her eyes shine as she looked up at you. "We never shut each other out. You have never shut me out".
You gulp hard with a small nod, "I...I know". Now it's your turn to cast your eyes downwards. "It's just....when I got the news about my dad...I didn't know what to do".
There was a small silence between you knowing you were still raw. You still haven't fully come to terms that your dad wasn't around anymore.
"He called me you know?" She said as soft as humanly possible. But it seems that didn't stop you from whipping your head up at her. "He called me to make sure I look after you. That he wanted you to remember all the good times together and to keep living life like it should be". She lets out a sad laugh, "And here you are looking after me instead".
You smile softly but she could see that it was still pained. "Yeah I regret not bringing you with me" you admit, "They were all asking for you".
But Alessia shakes her head, "No. It was just for the family. It was for you guys to say goodbye".
You nod with her, "Exactly". "Less you are family to me". You squeeze her leg lightly, "While it might not be official yet and I fully intend to correct that in the future". You can see the blonde finally smile and you can feel you heart lighten. "But you are family Less. With or without a ring".
Alessia looks at your for a second before she pulls you in for a hug. Her arms wrapping around your neck tightly. "God I love you" she whispers into your neck.
You squeeze her back kissing her cheek. "I love you too". You let a second pass.
"But not enough to wear an Arsenal jersey even with your name on it for you...."
The two burst out laughing as Alessia pulls away smacking you on the arm before drying her face. "Your an asshole" she says weakly knowing that was the furthest from the truth.
"I know" you grin before nudging your nose against hers. "But I'm your asshole".
She nods slightly with a small smile. "Yeah". Before she takes your jaw in her hands and brings you in for a soft kiss.
So you stand there in between her legs in the middle of the physio's room trading soft kisses as your hands anchor yourself on her waist and she pulls you closer by wrapping her legs around your waist.
It's only when she pulls away and giggles as you go to chase down her lips again but she stops you with a hand to your chest.
"What?" You whine as she leans just beyond your reach.
She giggles again but your just happy to see her smiling and happy again. "I think it's better we stop now before we get caught....again".
You throw your head back with a groan as she lets out a loud laugh. "It was one time!"
"I'm pretty sure we scared Lucia for life" Alessia laughs before you join her thinking back to Lucia's face when she walked in on the two of you in a somewhat similar situation to now in a certain state of undress.
As both of your laughter subsides, you peck the end of Alessia's nose smiling when you see her scrunch her face at that action. "We continue this at home then?" You ask patting her side.
Alessia nods with a wide smile on her face.
"Yeah. Yeah let's go home".
Could you write a fic about Reader just always staring at Alessia because R just finds her really beautiful. Reader doesn't even try and hide her crush or staring and everyone knows. And if you wanted maybe add like Reader give Alessia a compliment everyday or every time she sees her (even if it's just saying you look beautiful or giving her something)
“Oh god. Look at the big dope.”
Beth’s gaze followed Katie’s finger, the defender pointing at Alessia who was currently falling over her own two legs, trying to re-tell a story to Lotte and Viccy.
“What? You mean tiny?” Viv who had overheard her friends tried to make out who they were talking about. She thought they were talking about you.
While you were not necessarily ‘tiny’ you had joined the Arsenal women’s team out of their academy when you were quite young – having quite literally grown into the team. And while you had grown, the nickname stuck.
“Tiny? No! We`re talking about Less.”
Now that you were mentioned, their eyes wandered over to you – sat on one of the benches at the side of the pitch. You had started braiding Laia’s hair when the Spaniard sat down in front of you.
“She just can’t help it, can she?”
No. you really could not – but who could blame you?
Nobody that had ever laid eyes on the tall blonde striker – that’s for sure.
Alessia had joined Arsenal at the beginning of the season and while you had always carried a deep appreciation for her talent, things had changed a little when she joined you at your childhood club.
She was funny, so nice, and always listening to you when your quiet voice got swallowed in the chaos that was the changing room.
The fact that she was stunning did not help your crush at all. You were falling – hard and fast. To everyone’s amusement you did not even try to hide it, staring blatantly at the striker – awkwardly flirting with her whenever the possibility arose.
“Do you think we should help her? Poor thing – don’t think she’ll ever have a proper conversation with Less.” While Vivianne had compassion for you, seeing a little bit of herself in you, Beth and Katie did not – their eyes meeting and mischievous smiles taking over. “Nahhh.”
Meanwhile, Alessia had joined you on the bench, handing you a bobble to finish off Laia’s hair, the brunette immediately skipped off, throwing a loud “¡Gracias!” into your general direction.
Your heart was skipping as well, just not away from you but now that Lessi was sitting next to you, the staring was even more obvious – not that you cared. “Hey, Less?”
“Yeah?”
“You know what’s awesome? The top of a blueberry muffin.” Alessia wasn’t the least surprised that you actually handed her the top of a blueberry muffin, secretly swooning that you remembered that she didn’t like the bottom of it. “Tha-“
“Also, your face!”
There it was.
The incredibly bad flirting or rather blurting that the Italian loved so much, but only when it came from you.
“Thank you, baby.” Not that the pet name wasn’t enough – she came closer, and closer, just to kiss your cheek. The blonde was satisfied after feeling the heat of your face, joining Lotte with a cocky smile on her face.
“Just help the poor girl out, Less.”
Katie had joined the childhood friends, her arms thrown over Alessia's shoulder, taking her quite literally under her wing.
“Nah – I love her awkward flirting.”
Like a proud older sister, the Irishwoman squeezed her shoulder “Atta girl.”
--
Beth and Viv had been watching the exchange like everyone else, standing behind the benches, seeing you hold your cheek – still stunned at the kiss.
“Please let me help her Beth.”
“Nah – let her figure it out.”
~~~
Late training sessions were definitely not on Alessia’s list of favourite things in the world, especially not when all she wanted to do was escape the rainy Manchester weather and cold. It was safe to say really, that if she could change any one thing about her football career, past, present, and future, she’d limit the number of evening practices, especially those on rainy days to near zero.
Being soaking wet after a practice, the number of times she had fallen no doubt a contributing factor, the chill in the air seemed to send a continuous shiver in her bones, one that not even a shower post-practice could abolish.
So albeit showered and freshened up, all the blonde really wanted to do at seven in the evening on a Tuesday was take a hot shower at home and curl up beside you; dinner, a movie, and unlimited cuddles the only things things on the cards for the night.
But that plan required many things, one of which included you being free, something you likely weren’t.
Caught up in all your coursework for your degree, you had recently been swamped with a never-ending to-do list, something which pained Alessia almost, if not more, as much as it pained you.
Entering your shared apartment, Alessia gently dropped her kit bag and paused for a brief second to try and decipher where you might be. Hearing nothing that would give any indication of your location, she kicked off her shoes before haphazardly placing them on the rack and heading in to find you.
With finals season upon you, you had been hiding away from Alessia to finish your work a lot more, conscious of how her mere presence distracted you, had you contemplating why you wanted to finish your degree this year when you could instead cuddle up with her on the couch and put on a show to watch.
However, the tiredness of the day was finally catching up to her and the Gunner wanted nothing more than to find you and drape herself over you, cuddles galore, her heaven on earth.
Quickly peering into the kitchen and then the dining area before checking the living room, Alessia wandered through the living space, not wanting to shout for you lest you be on a call of some sort.
Walking towards your office/makeshift study space, she started to take her wet hair out of its bun, hoping that she could get you to agree to plait it for her as you normally would.
Between rainy English weather and the nearly two years of you two dating, it had become a sort of ritual between the pair of you- countless nights of a dimly lit living room, a brush in your hands as you sat on the couch with the footballer on the floor between your legs, you working ever so carefully and gently to untangle and braid her wet hair into a somewhat manageable braid.
It had started when you had realized that Alessia would leave her soaked, post-shower hair in a messy bun until it would eventually dry eons later, making everything her head came in contact with during the meantime a damp mess.
After the fourth time you had to change out of a wet t-shirt post cuddling session, you had finally given up on trusting the striker to do her own hair, instead taking matters into your own hands.
Since then, it had become normal for the Englishwoman to find you after most practices or games, silently taking seat between your legs or in front of you with a towel, brush, and blow-dryer in hand.
So Alessia made a quick stop to your shared ensuite, grabbing the aforementioned items in a breeze before continuing on the remainder of her short walk to you office next door.
Well aware that you may be on one of your numerous zoom calls with a course mate or advisor of some sort, the blonde knocked gently before slowly turning the handle and peeking her head inside.
Eyes just barely adjusting to the dimly lit room, Alessia sighed, already being able to tell you had barely left your study space for a while, the countless dishes piled up on the table beside you a worrying sign.
Stepping in and choosing to make her presence known, the blonde walked over to where you were sat at your desk in the back corner of the room, eyes focused intently on the screen in front of you.
“Hi…”
Coming to stop right beside you, your girlfriend teetered from one foot to the other nervously, waiting for a reaction.
You barely looked up from your monitor as you hummed in response, a disastrous number of tabs open on the screen and the laptop beside you, mind nearly as scattered.
Wringing her hands, her voice came out soft, nearly a whisper, heart already tired from the long day she had.
“Could you please plait my hair when you get the chance?”
Had you been paying attention to the blonde one your left, you would’ve taken in the tiredness in her eyes, the defeated weight on her shoulders, and the nervousness thrumming in her body as she fiddled with the hairbrush in her hand.
But you weren’t.
Eyes not leaving the screen for a second as you took notes on your iPad without looking down, you inhaled sharply.
If you had known better, you wouldn’t have reacted as you did. Would’ve separated your frustration with your paper from your love for the striker.
You didn’t however.
Instead, you let your frustration seep through, a gruff exhale escaping you.
“Less I’m busy. Just do it yourself yeah?”
Not waiting for an answer, you continued with the task at hand, flipping between another website and copying and pasting text into your notes document.
Beside you, Alessia quickly shut her eyes, straightening her back in an effort not to become upset at your sharp answer.
She knew you were stressed, this degree something you had been working on tirelessly to achieve. She knew this frustration wasn’t aimed at you, more so at the tight deadline coming up, the need for perfection that you craved. So why did she feel like shit now?
Taking a deep breath, she figured it would be worth a shot to ask you about dinner, aware that you likely hadn’t eaten- your habit of hyper focusing a common obstacle when it came to taking care of yourself.
“Before I go, do you want anything in particular for supper? I was thinki-”
“Anything’s fine. I’ll eat later. I really need to finish this up.” Your voice cut in, not bothering to wait for her to finish.
Eyebrows furrowing at your interjection, Alessia’s shoulders deflated, well aware that any time spend together was likely off the table for the night. As if this night couldn’t possibly get worse.
Sighing near silently, the Arsenal forward turned on her heels, making her way out of the room quickly as to not disturb you any further.
It was only when she had fully made it out of the room, door shut firmly behind her, that Alessia let the weight of the day crash on her.
As a handful of silent tears of frustration came barrelling down her face, the striker made her way back into your shared bedroom, haphazardly throwing the items from her hands onto the bathroom counter before wiping away the tears and throwing her hair into a bun once more.
Deciding that tonight was not a night where the blonde wanted to be cooking, at least not anymore, not since you very likely wouldn’t be joining her, she reached for her phone, eyes scanning the numerous apps through her blurred vision before finding the desired delivery app.
Quickly ordering comfort food for herself and your usual order from the restaurant she had chosen (she wasn’t heartless, could never be towards you), the striker threw herself onto the bed, arms coming to wrap around her own midsection in a vain attempt to provide herself with some comfort.
And when the ordered food finally arrived, bag somehow soaked from the pouring weather, the Englishwoman knew that the universe was playing a cruel joke on her, maybe even getting her back for jumping on Leah when she had been soaked after practice earlier.
Clenching her jaw, Alessia quietly plated her food before taking a seat at the island, dim lights and the soft murmur of the world outside the only company for her on the lonesome night, the empty stool beside her mocking her as she ate, a pounding headache growing due to the bun she wore, food lukewarm, and heart alone.
What a lovely night…
~~~
You were proud of yourself.
It had taken nearly a week but here you were, essay nearly done, on the brink of submission a handful of days early, qualification for graduation just a few clicks away.
All that was left was to proofread it for the fourth time, you well aware that you were being nit-picky, the perfectionist in you making itself known.
But that could wait. That could most definitely wait. Because all you wanted to do right now, aching neck, tired eyes, and growling stomach in tow, was to relax with your girl for a bit, a well deserved reward should you say yourself.
Pushing yourself away from your desk, your eyes flickered over to top corner of your monitor, a place you tended not to look often in an attempt to not intimidate yourself with the passing minutes.
Now though? Now you wish you had looked at the clock earlier.
Cursing yourself for being so caught up in your own mind that you had tuned out the world most important to you, you hastily got up from your seat.
The bright digits glared at you as quickly started cleaning up your desk- 9:47 pm- much much later than you had anticipated.
Exiting out of now useless tabs and turning off what needed to be shut down, your quickly grabbed your mountain of dishes, precariously balancing them as you tucked your nearly dead phone into your pocket and scrambled towards the door.
Less couldn’t be asleep right? Not yet at least…surely?
You silently prayed that the blonde was still awake, the pattering of the rain outside and darkness filling the empty corners of the apartment as you made your way to the kitchen.
The silence in the apartment was eerily haunting, a reminder- no- an indication of just how selfish you had been.
Entering the threshold, your eyes fell on the sticky note left on the counter, space barely illuminated by the streetlights.
Gently placing your dishes in the sink, letting warm water run over them, you backtracked, picking up the yellow post-it and reading the message- once and then again, heart sinking at the unsaid words.
‘Supper’s in the fridge. Went to bed early.’
The lack of words told you everything you needed to know. You had fucked up.
No 'I love you', no 'I'll be waiting for you', none of that. Just eight direct words, saying everything that Alessia didn't voice.
Swallowing hard, you contemplated your options, wondering whether it would be worth the risk to potentially upset Alessia more than you already had.
It wasn’t a secret to you that the blonde hated late practices, especially on days like today, where there were double practices, afternoon and evening. Add the pouring rain that had brought you comfort the past few hours, hours that Less had likely passed around waiting for you, hair no doubt a mess, a headache likely from the cold, stuff you usually helped her prevent post-practices, you knew you had messed up.
In your blindside to free yourself up early, you had ignored the one you loved. Just fucking great.
Deciding then and there to make amends, you made your way to your shared bedroom, taking the gamble to see whether Alessia had fallen asleep or not, hoping you could rectify your earlier actions.
This time, it was your turn to nervously enter the room, turning the knob nervously and slowly stepping in.
In front of you lay the taller girl, frame looking small on the bed, her back facing you, the dark room doing nothing to help your uneasiness.
Stepping forward, you reached out, pulling up the covers on your side of the bed, you sliding in after.
Holding your breath, you strained to listen to Alessia’s breathing, trained in being able to identify whether the blonde was on the brink of sleep or not, years of being together aiding you immensely.
Finally exhaling when you realized the blonde was still awake, you took your chances.
Keeping your voice soft, you let it carry, the weight of your words hanging in the air.
“I know you’re still awake…”
You could feel the mattress move before she did, the blonde shuffling further to her own side of the bed, nearly falling off the edge with how much space she left in the middle.
“Less…”
Silence being your only response, you tried again.
“I’m sorry for being an ass.”
This time you heard a slight huff. Not the best response but a response in the least- a positive in your eye. You chose to continue, hoping you could dig yourself out of this hole.
“I’m sorry for being huge dickwad. You didn’t deserve me snapping at you like that.”
And as Alessia’s hoarse voice responded, your gut sank with guilt, jaw tensing.
“Just the snapping? I asked you about supper and whether you could take just a few- a few- minutes to plait my hair like always, and you got upset with me.”
“I know. I’m sorry, I really am. You were only trying to help and you were tired yourself and I was dumb.” Surging forward, you reached out tentatively, slowly placing your hand on Alessia’s shoulder, pulling her into you.
“You really were.”
Placing a kiss on the back of her head once she was close enough, you murmured against her scalp. “Can I make it up to you? Let me braid your hair?”
“That doesn’t excuse your behaviour…”
Nodding in agreeance, you let your arms wrap around the taller girl’s waist. “It doesn’t, but I’ll get there, I promise.”
Alessia sinking backwards into your grasp at your words gave you the answer you needed, you holding her for a few more minutes before quickly rising up and getting the items you needed.
Turning on a lamp as you returned, you settled behind the footballer, plugging in the hair drier and undoing the bird’s nest on your lover’s head.
Silently working, you meticulously dried the blonde’s hair enough that her pillow wouldn’t get any more soaked, teasing out the kinks and knots gently before braiding her hair loosely.
Finally pleased with your work, you set the comb and hair drier aside, pulling Alessia back against your front and wrapping her up in your hold, placing a gentle kiss on her shoulder and lingering for a second.
“I can’t promise I won’t be stupid again, but I can promise you that I’ll try my best to never do that again.”
“No more ignoring me no matter how busy you are alright? Just let me in your head…tell me your plans so that I’m not left here waiting for god knows how long, as you snap at me when I try to care…please?”
“I promise. Solemnly swear in fact.”
Feeling the blonde smile at your words, you let a grin take over your own face.
“Now, I know you already ate, but would you fancy joining me for dinner? It could be our own little date? You, me, a little Love Island, and ton of cuddles?”
And as Alessia turned in your hold, burying her face into the crook of your neck, you kissed the her crown, holding her just a tad bit tighter.
Only making a move to get up when your stomach grumbled loudly, you shot a sheepish smile to the angel in your arms before loosening your hold.
And as the pair of you exited the room, hand in hand, you made sure to grab the softest blanket you could, her comfort blanket, settling the striker on the couch before rushing into the kitchen to make yourself a plate of food, getting an extra helping, well aware that your girlfriend would munch with you.
Nearly sprinting back to the living room, food in hand, the pair of you got comfortable, the blonde resting her head on your shoulder, blanket wrapped around you both as the tv illuminated the living room, the rain now setting a comforting tone to the night.
Feeding the Gunner small bites as you ate your food, the two of you managed to finish off the plate quite quickly, setting it on the table before sinking together, a few more episodes, a handful of minute more spend cuddling.
Mindlessly tracing your fingers up her arm, you pulled the tired woman into you, body shuffling to lay across the couch, Alessia's head resting on your chest as the other girl whispered out little comments at every turn in the show.
It was only when you could finally feel the taller girl’s body growing heavier a bit more with each passing minute that you decided that it was a good time to head to bed.
Skimming your fingers up and down her spine, tracing the ridges of her back, you slowly, just barely, pulled Alessia out of her lethargic state, silently pulling her into a sitting position.
Moving to get up, you wrapped the blanket around her, ignoring her groans of protest at her own personal space heater walking away.
Convincing her you would only be a minute, you ran and put ur dishes away before coming back to usher a somewhat sleepy Less to your bedroom, the blonde slightly waking up a bit more at the movement.
Walking both yourself and your sleepy counterpart through brushing your teeth, you pulling silly faces randomly before splashing the taller girl with some water to tease her, you eventually managed to get the two of you back into bed, you on your back and the taller girl resting her head on your chest, sleepy yawns escaping her as she got comfortable once more.
Taking her now dry hair out of its braid, you loosely combed your fingers through it, nails scratching her scalp in a successful effort to soothe.
“Tell me about your day?” Your voice was quiet, just barely audible, not wanting to rouse the girl in your arms any further.
“Well my girlfriend was kind of an arse to me…”
Shaking your head as your chest rumbled with silent laughter, you gently hit Alessia’s shoulder.
“I mean it...I wanna listen dork.”
And as the blonde recited her day to you, you could feel her breathing get heavier, the tiredness finally catching up to her.
Placing a gentle kiss on top of her head, you murmured another quiet apology as Alessia’s voice died down, you tightening your hold, mentally vowing never to let yourself get consumed by school or work so immensely ever again.
Unbeknown to you, the striker was just barely awake, her whispers of ’never again’ making her conscious state known.
Agreeing, you repeated the words, whispering an I love you, the sentiment returned before Alessia’s breathing finally evened out, body completely relaxed in your hold. Finally letting yourself unwind, the tension from studying earlier totally seeping out of your body, you let a smile spread across your face.
Well aware this was all you really needed, you let the warmth spread through your body.
Here, your lover in your hold, silent breaths puffed against your neck, the weight of your love hanging comfortably in the air, you followed Alessia’s lead, letting sleep overcome you, everything that really mattered to you in this world, here, in your arms.
