now that its cold again and i am, once again, too cheap to turn on the heat in my apartment, i am back in my allen era...

"but why won't you turn on the heat?" he asks, confusion laced into his question. it's not out of place, his inability to understand your logic.

mostly because you don't want to tell him your plan.

hanging out at allen's small apartment is always cold and you always sneak in a way to have his arms wrapped around you. but lately, ever since his stove stopped working and the landlord's taking his sweet time to fix it, you've been spending time at your place.

allen's not good at initiating cuddle times - it's awkward and straining for him to ask for the affection you'll freely give and you can be stunted too, in making the moves that are sometimes needed to push you both.

so, after lavi's suggestion, you decided to let the heaters stay turned off, because this will make sure that you're cuddled up for warmth shortly after dinner. it's a secure deal.

except, allen won't stop asking questions.

he does it out of worry. are you short on money? did the heater break and you dont know how to fix it? are you suddenly self-conscious about his choice of letting it stay off for as long as possible? should he take an extra shift at work to help you replace it?

you try to shrug off his question again, wiping down the countertop after dinner and deflecting, "should we continue 90 days fiance tonight?"

(allen's official stance will always be that reality tv like that is staged and shallow - but that won't stop him from being dramatically invested in the bad choices of these people desperate for love.)

he huffs out a breath and lets his shoulders sag. then, he shakes his head and reaches out for your hands.

with both of his. a recent development you've been more than thrilled about - yet you're too afraid it will make him uncomfortable to mention it.

you squeeze his and muster up the most nonchalant expression you can before you lean in close and talk before he can ask another question, "we can bring the duvet and bedcover into the livingroom with us."

if you think it's rude that he rolls his eyes at you, you don't say it out loud. instead, you inhale sharply before you kiss him. he grunts unexpectedly - he loves kissing you, feeling the shape and warmth of your lips, but he's not used to it yet.

he sighs and locks eyes with you, "you promise everything's okay?"

you laugh and swat his shoulder, "yes."

he eyes you for a moment like he sometimes eyes kanda when his definitely-not-friend-but-also-close-friend says something suspiciously kind to him.

you kiss him again, "it's embarassing to say out loud but i promise that my intentions are good and that there literally isn't any issues. can you please be a good boyfriend and come cuddle with me now?"

he thinks it's underhanded, how you use the term boyfriend, fully aware of how flustered it makes him. you smile victoriously before you grab onto his left hand and drags him into the living room, caressing his scarred skin with your thumb all the way. you can't wait to be covered in blankets, duvets and the scent of him for the rest of the evening, listening to him revert to his rude speech pattern as the people on screen makes the worst choices or says the worst things publicly. it's still early, but you think you love him.

You probably meant OT4 at just the main four but you know, I like the idea of a chaotic OT5 with them and Reader. It would be as disastrous as it was loving.

With how Allen eats, he doesn’t notice nor understand the idea of a safe food since he just inhales everything. Honestly you’d have to explain why a dish meant so much to you for him to get it

He likes to bring you whatever it may be when you’re busy so he can make sure you’re eating. He also likes to use it to cheer you up.

God bless him, he’s tried to make it for you himself but it just turned out horrifically awful. An absolute disaster. He refuses to let you even try it so he doesn’t risk upsetting you or ruining the food for you altogether.

He makes sure never to order whatever it is for himself because he’d just feel awful if there wasn’t any left afterwards for you to eat. He’s sure it must be tasty if it’s making you smile like that, he doesn’t need to try it—unless you insist, in which case, how can he say no?

Yeah Kanda isn’t going to notice anything either. If on some odd chance he does, he chalks it up to you being a picky eater maybe, like he is with soba. Needless to say, with this mentality, you can trust him with your food to not steal any, but you can’t trust him to understand when it makes you upset.

And god does he not get it when you’re upset because of your food. He unintentionally may come across as insensitive when he bluntly asks you what’s the matter when you’re sulking at a meal. Patience is a virtue and you’re gonna need it with him when you explain how your safe food is just important to you.

While outwardly he just shrugs it off, you do notice him offering you lunch boxes as peace offerings when you’re in a bad mood—regardless if he was the cause. He’s not good with communicating, so this act of service is a god send for the relationship in an odd way.

You can offer to show him how to make it if you want an excuse to spend time with him but he’s going to suck at whatever you ask him to do. Chop something? More like obliterates it. Stir it together? Well now it’s mostly on the counter and floor. He’s frustrated but he enjoys your company, so it’s a win-lose situation.

“Does it really taste that good? Give me a bite, I wanna try it~” He thinks he’s being cheeky, not realizing he’s kind of being insensitive by making light of it or by trying to take some of it from you. Apologizes with nuzzles and offering to feed you.

Like it or not, he memorizes everything about you, even the tiniest details. When it comes to you, everything is Important Information, and Important Information does not get buried or forgotten, both because of his photographic memory and also because he knows how beneficial the information can be. Like when he orders an extra side of whatever your safe food is just to make sure you get your fill of it.

Unknowingly can be a bit obnoxious at times with pestering you about how it tastes or how it compares to other places or people who make it. Sometimes he even tries to offer alternative dishes to try. It comes from a good place, he’s just getting used to being open and genuine about his love and he can fumble the ball from time to time.

Regardless of what he says or does, he always has a loving smile on his face while he watches you eat. Seeing you light up over something that seems so small and inconsequential really makes his day, especially if he was the one to gift it to you.

Lenalee definitely noticed and understood to some degree the importance of your safe food to you, and she quietly tucked that information away for safe keeping and didn’t bring it up. No need to make a production out of it, after all.

Her primary love language is acts of service because she likes the feeling she gets when she helps people, so of course she learns to make whatever your safe food is just for you. Though she’d be lying if she said she didn’t prefer making it with you, her other love language being quality time.

Your food is safe with her! No gluttonous heathens can vacuum up your food in their black holes of a stomach (ahem, ALLEN) if you happen to be sharing a table. She also won’t stand for anyone giving you hell about it. If Kanda can eat his Soba and Alma can eat his mayo and Krory can eat his akuma—er, well, you know what she means!—then you can eat whatever you damn well please.

Honestly she probably developed a taste for whatever it is as well. Since it was something special to you that you felt like you could share with her, she holds a special place for it in her heart. Of course she’d never take from your plate, but she likes those meals spent sharing your special dish in a peaceful, loving atmosphere.

He’s a little stunned at first, confused to if he actually just heard that. But he wastes no time pulling you safely in the opposite direction of the cat caller, essentially putting himself between the two of you.

Allen is a true gentleman, he’s yelling at the cat caller, saying you don’t treat people like that, and ready to throw hands. He’s learned a lot from Cross and disrespecting women isn’t one of them. He’s truly upset by the situation.

You’ll most likely have to pull him away and tell him you just want to leave. One look at you though is enough to pull Allen to his senses. His whole face softens at the sight of you. He’ll grab your hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze, and pull you along to your favorite spot.

Kanda

He’s annoyed that this is happening but thinks the best solution is to ignore the cat caller. Kanda does notice the effect their words have on you. He’ll place his arm around your shaking figure and whisper to you to not to let them get to you. However, if you give him a look, Kanda won’t hesitate to pull his sword on them.

Once you’re far enough away from the situation, Kanda will ask you if you’re alright. Upon seeing that you are clearly not, he’ll take you home.

At home, Kanda will make you some tea to help you relax. He’ll grumble about how he should have shredded them while he sits down with you pulled into his arms.

Lavi

Lavi notices them before you do, the predatory like stare and the sly smirk. He’s seen how this plays out and he hates it a little more each time.

As the cat caller approaches, words ready on their tongue, Lavi pulls you into his chest. You’re a bit confused. He’s got one hand on your waist and the other over your ear while the other ear is pressed into his jacket. It’s all muffled so you can’t really hear what’s being said. However, you can feel the booming in Lavi’s chest and you know he’s not happy.

It’s hard to tell but you catch it out of the corner of your eye, someone walking away and Lavi relaxes. You ask him what’s going on but he just smiles and says it’s nothing.

Allen throws another log of wood into the hearth. It’s cold and your gratitude at being allowed to stay at this mansion during your mission is slowly wearing off with the way the temperature seems to be just a little too cold no matter how much wood you waste.

“Ah, I apologize that it has yet to heat up,” Allen apologies weakly and you can’t help the snort you let out, “that’s got nothin’ got do with you though.”

He nods, “still. I feel awful that you’re so cold,” he admits before situating himself back on the couch. You huff, “I’m not that cold.” you try but the arguments falls flat when he looks at you and laughs, “are you certain? I would like to think that you hogging all the blankets and both of our duvets speaks to the opposite argument.”

Allen’s laugh is ethereal. Simply otherworldly and a warmth settles in your stomach that has little to do with the actual temperature in the room. You settle further into your little blanket mountain and sigh deeply. Exhaustion is kicking in and the weariness is not only in your muscles today.

Allen perks up immediately, “does it still hurt?”

You shake your head and bend your knee a few times, slowly, “I should’ve just gotten it together.”

It sounds sour. You don’t mean to poison the lighthearted mood that was in the room prior but bitterness is very much detectable in your voice. He sighs and leans his body towards yours, “it’s okay, I’d take you getting injured any other day than you… dying.” an awkward pause was between his sentence and the final word but you’re too preoccupied with the residual anger – if only you’d dodged the attack a few seconds earlier, if your instincts would’ve just worked right, he wouldn’t have had to scream your name in an octave that almost made you cry.

“May I?”

You hadn’t even noticed how close he’d gotten, holding the edge of the top blanket in his still gloved hand. You nod dumbly, confused, letting him into your space easily, comfortably.

You move around in tandem so that you’re finally positioned where you want to be the most – in his arms. You absentmindedly play with the hem of his jacket – none of you are out of your uniforms yet, dreading the cold that’ll inevitably hit you the second that you do and he kisses the top of your head, “I’m just glad you’re safe. I’ll even carry you to the station in the morning.”

You snort, “I know you will but I’ll not allow it, Walks.” it’s his turn to laugh out albeit it’s awkward and slightly tense, “could you stop with that nickname? I’d like to think your boyfriend should be called by his actual name,” he tries but you look at him with a smirk, “I could also go with my honey.”

The imminent and violently red blush on his cheek is worth every dime you’ve ever tried owning in your life. Endearing nicknames are very new to the lovable British boy you’ve recently started seeing romantically after months of pining and even more months of Lenalee’s insistent intervention. Neither physical nor emotional affection was something he received easily but he was getting better. You settle back against him with a shrug and a hidden, teasing smile, “I could also go with beansprout I guess?”

He groans and lets his head fall onto your shoulder, “I will carry you to the station if you do not stop that wretched nonsense immediately!”

You laugh and Allen feels himself relax again at the sound of a genuine one – there had been no reason for you to feel guilty about what happened at the battlefield today but he doesn’t blame you – he knows the feeling all too well. He’s just grateful that you’re still here, alive, in his arms right now.

A comfortable silence falls between you after you sigh contentedly. Your hand has moved on from the hem of his jacket to his hand, intertwining them with your own while he periodically sneaks kisses onto the top of your head or cheeks.

Allen never knew he’d become so addicted to physical touch as he’s gotten after kissing you only a few times. He’s constantly seeking out your hand when you walk next to each other and his hands always seems to travel to your body in a quest for some contact. Recently he’s even started touching you with his glove off – at your request, of course.

“It’s warm,” you told him the first time his ungloved hand traced circles on your cheek, stars sparkled in your eyes at his willingness to comply. You’d then proceeded to kiss every digit and up his arm, stopping at his shoulder with a sigh, “I love you, Allen Walker.”

Allen’s brought back to the present at the sound of your gentle snoring. He pulls you in closer with a content sigh. He probably will make good on the promise of carrying you to the station – even if you’ll sound like a screaming banshee all the way.

You’re both fast asleep before you realize the warmth’s finally emerging in the room from the hours of making the hearth cooperate.

Lavi

“Do you ever get tired of reading?”

You’re sprawled on the couch looking at Lavi who’s at the edge of the couch with his nose buried in documents. He almost died today and you’ve decided his reaction’s off. He’s way too nonchalant about it. You’re not sure if you’re more frustrated at him for almost dying or for his reaction not being as severe as yours.

“Hm?” he barely looks up from the parchment in his hands but the slight tilt of his head signals that he’s listening to you, at least. You groan and kick him lightly, hoping it’ll garner more of a reaction.

It doesn’t.

When you keep toeing at him, he finally sighs and puts the papers down on his lap, “what?”

There’s more bite in that word than you’ve ever heard from him and it makes you recoil. It doesn’t go past him though and he seems to visibly reign back his emotions, if only for a split second. He reaches out for you but you bend your legs up towards you, “I’m sorry I annoyed you,” you try and he moves back to his papers – for a moment you fear he’s just gonna start reading again but he folds them up nicely and puts them on the corner table next to the couch. He then takes off his headband, and lets his hair fall down.

“I’m a little tense, I apologize.”

He moves towards you again and this time you let him, his arms crossed and resting on your thighs. You bite your underlip, waiting to see if he’ll continue talking.

He doesn’t, he simply makes one of his signature smiles.

Jerk.

You sigh and let your arms fall to your sides, “listen Lavi, you almost died today. I think we should talk about it instead of just… reading to distract from the subject.”

Frustration flashes in his eye and he looks down with his bottom lip formed to a pout. A heavy cute aggression overwrites your focus for a moment and you want to squeeze his cheeks. You lean towards him as well, your arms going around his neck – the position is uncomfortable though, so your arms travel down his and wrap around his wrists to pull him on top of you. He follows meekly until he’s comfortably settled.

“Well, well, well,” he says with a toothy grin but you hush him, “don’t play around right now, idiot, I actually do want to talk.”

He clicks his tongue in an almost Kanda-like fashion but rests his forehead on top of yours anyway before he opens his mouth, “you know I’m not… good, with all that. I’m not built like that.”

You hold back a snort but a breath of air does escape your nose before you can stop it. You hope it’s not as condescending as you fear it sounds. “You said that about romance too before you kissed me senseless underneath two exploding Akumas two years ago.”

He looks around the room in an effort to not look you in the eyes. You kiss him, slowly and with as much love as you can muster. He sighs into it and when you pull back, he follows you for a second kiss. You oblige as your hands run through his hair. You always did like to play around with it.

He’s distracting you; you realize. He’s not the only one able to calculate situations like these so you pull back and tut at him, “I could’ve lost you today.”

He sighs, “but you didn’t.”

“No, but I could’ve. I won’t force you more than this but I just want you to know that I’m glad you’re okay.” you trace mindless circles on his cheek as you say this and you don’t miss the way his eye widens at your admission. He clears his throat, “you are?”

It’s a whisper of a question.

The insecurity laced into his question surprises you and you do a double take to read his facial expression. He looks scared. You pull him impossibly closer, sighing into his hair, “of course, Lavi. I love you.”

He gulps loudly and you can feel the shaking as he exhales. You know what he’s about to say, so you pull him to face you again and kiss him before he gets a chance to.

After kissing some composure back into him and the shakiness out, you smile at him, admiring his emerald eye.

“That card game you talked about on the train – you still want to play?”

He seems to consider for a second before he decides, “no. I want to stay in your arms.”

You laugh and he blows a raspberry into your neck making you scream out and paw at him, trying to push him off. He laughs too before settling into your neck again. You’re tense though because you don’t trust him not to continue his shenanigans.

“Would you rather eat 20 worms or sleep in the mud for two nights straight?”

You’ve never seen his face rise so fast from your chest to give you the most confused and disgusted look you’ve seen him sport in a while. When you just look at him with a raised eyebrow, clearly waiting for a serious answer, he falls back down and breathes out.

“Would I have to eat all the worms at once? Or could I space them out over a time period?”

You laugh, “would you really rather eat one worm a week for 20 weeks than get it all over with?” and he groans, “well, I gotta know my options here!”

You stifle your laugh that’s threatening to boil back up and clear your throat, “you could take as long as you needed to eat them.” you decide thoughtfully and he chuckles, “then I’d rather eat 20 worms.”

You hum in reply, thinking it through. “How long would you spend eating them?”

“Hopefully 20 years.” he admits and you punch his shoulders, “hey! That’s cheating!”

He looks up at you with a pout, “but you just said I could take as long as I needed!”

“Yeah, but I didn’t mean like that!” you pout back at him and he groans at the absurdity of it all.

The rest of the evening continues on with more ridiculous questions like these, all making you both laugh and punch each other in the name of fairness. The questions continue long into the night where you both end up falling asleep, uncomfortably tangled into each other without any hope of a duvet because none of you wanted to get up and not touch each other.

Lavi hopes his actions are able to communicate what his mouth won’t ever be able to say out loud.

Allen:

☆ is very worried at first but as soon as you sit in the train he looks forward to your time together

☆ In the hotel, he suggests sleeping together in a room.

☆ but as innocent as our little cinnamon is, he means sleeping  in the same room but not in the same bed. Now imagine our poor Allen if he just  stand in front of a queen-size bed.

☆ of course you tease him and say he would have planned it from the start. And he denies this with a red head and tries to explain with stammering and waving arms that he has no intention in this direction.

☆ In a fight with Akumas, he tries to leave you out as best he can and and  to kill them alone. but if that is not possible and you get into a fight then he worries and tries to be with you as soon as possible

☆ back in the black order his worry and tension subsides and he only wants to lie in bed with you and rest.

Kanda:

▪ Kanda is not a big fan of mixing private and work, so you have to be able to take care of yourself. It would be annoying for him if you would only rely on him

▪ Kanda needs to know that you are fine if he is not around, so he is looking for someone on a similar level as him in a partner.

▪ On the train he is silent as always, but he likes it when you talk to him. Your voice calms him down and he always learns something new about you

▪ In the hotel he booked separate rooms but didn't find it bad if there was only one left. but if there is only one bed, he shows himself unaffected but is more than nervous on the  inside.

▪ Even if he separates private and work, he appreciates the undisturbed time with you. As long as you are not in a fight or inquiries, he has nothing against togetherness.

▪ back in the black order he expects professionalism and a distance. In the room you can keep him company and rest there with him on what he insists to make sure that you also recover your strength.

Lavi:

♡ Lavi sees it much like Allen. He doesn't like letting you fight alone and always tries to strengthen your back. Lavi needs someone who knows his limits and does not plunge into daring battles.

♡ It is important to him that you can pull back and leave the rest to him when you reach your limits. You have to trust him and he has to be able to trust you.

♡ It is never quiet with him on your train journeys. there is a lot of laughing and joking. Sometimes when you don't feel like talking you can read in pleasant silence.

♡ in the hotel, lavi immediately requests a room with only one bed. this daredevil doesn't even try to hide his intention instead he grins mischievously at you and makes sure that everyone knows that you are together.

♡ Sometimes or always lavi forgets that you are only in the hotel because of your mission then you have to stop him at his approaches. Then he pouts a little but then sets out to finish the mission.

♡ At headquarters, he follows you to the room and just lies down with you. While you want to sleep, he has other plans

“Y/N,” I heard the diner’s manager call out, “I need you to work Becca’s shift next week too,” and without waiting for a response disappears into his office.

My shoulders slump as I clocked out and walked across the truck stop's concrete drive pausing at the curb to check the traffic before proceeding across the other side of a dual carriageway to the crosstown bus stop. Sitting down on the hard bench I look up at the twinkling stars.

Normally the shift I worked was six am to six pm but with one of the waitresses off and the last hired, I got stuck covering her shift. I hated this shift, having to walk a half mile from the bus stop to that piece of shit trailer I was renting in the still dark predawn hours.

Flashing lights pull me from my musings and climbing the steps I swipe my bus pass being greeted by Ricardo, the diver I’d gotten to know since there’s only a handful of swing shift people this time of the morning. He comments on how tired I appear and said he’d make sure to wake me at my stop.

Thanking him I took a seat and use my bag as a makeshift pillow lean against the window not noticing a man dressed in dark clothes and ball cap, who’s been sitting in the exact same seat this last week, intently watching me.

Forty minutes later I drag up the rickety steps in front of the trailer fiddling with the front door lock that always sticks when a movement in my peripheral makes me turn.

“Did James tell you what was going on?” Cordell Walker inquired holding the door open for his partner Micki Ramiriz at the Rangers headquarters, “nope, Captain's text just said come to the conference room ASAP.”

They approached the open door when Micki abruptly stopped, “meirda.”

Walker's eyebrows went up in surprise. He rarely heard his partner curse, she usually preferred to express herself succinctly. Peering over her head he saw who made her do it.

Walker grunted, “I’d a went with hijo de puta but yours works too.” Micki gave him a look before entering.

“Agent Graves, to what do we owe the honor of your presents..again?” Cordell asked, barely this side of courteous.

“Ranger Walker, I’d like to say it’s a pleasure seeing you too but we both know that’s a lie. I’m here because once again I have to clean up your leftover mess from the Rodeo King’s case.”

“There’s no mess left to clean up! Clints dead, Jaxon and Twyla are in jail, and you got the missing 300k back!”

“Only took you how long to return the money again?” Graves sarcastically asked, “a little birdie tells me you’ve visited sweet, sweet, Twyla Jean. Too bad you’re gonna have to wait another what..three years before continuing your friends with benefits partnership.”

Walker drew back flattening his lips, barely holding his temper and before he could say something stupid his brother interrupted.

“This meeting has to do with the King’s member that bolted before we were brought in on the case.” Liam typed on a keyboard turning on the monitor.

“Eric Mannon,” a photo and list of stats popped up, “was Jaxon's original calf roping partner and the King's money launderer. What the group didn’t know was he also ran drugs for Northside Nation, something the FBI,” Liam gave Graves a hard look, “didn’t feel the need to share before we sent you undercover Cordi. Turns out Mannon actually disappeared with around a quarter million in cash and drugs, double crossing the King’s, Northside and Serano.”

He tapped the keys changing the screen's display to a woman Walker was familiar with, “when they found out, they paid a friendly visit to Clint first. In order to save his own sorry ass, he convinced them Y/N Y/L/N was in on it.” Liam paused, finger hovering.

“Are you going to finish the presentation, or do I have to?” Agent Graves snipped.

Liam took a breath and pressed a button, carefully gaging his brother's reaction to the display of graphic photos showing the aftermath of what the members had done, “the only reason they left her alive was to send a clear message of what happens if you double cross them.”

Captain James cleared his throat, “Mannon resurfaced around two weeks ago and has been following her, so the FBI put Ms. Y/L/N under 24/7 surveillance.” He pulls up a montage of surveillance videos with multiple timestamps showing her completely unaware she was being stalked by her ex.

“Our live feed captured this earlier this morning of him finally making contact.” Graves says as the footage showed you coming into frame, fussing with a door lock suddenly aware of someone in dark clothing approaching, then slammed into the flimsy door knocking it open and falling, instinctively turning to fight back before a cloth is forced over your face.

Micki pursed her lips crossing her arms addresses Graves, “if that’s what you call making contact, I'd like to know what you consider assault, battery and kidnapping.”

Captain James jumped in before Graves could respond, “since I was made aware of this attack, which technically happened in our jurisdiction, I immediately dispatched our people. So far, they’ve reported the only movement inside the trailer has been his.”

“How are we playing this Captain, we are waiting for his next move or raiding the place?” Walker tersely asked.

“I’d normally prefer to negotiate first but we have no idea what’s happening in there and since Mannon has been able to evade capture by the FBI, we’re going to do a raid.” Walker and Ramirez start to leave to gear up.

“However, you and Ramirez will not be participating.” They start to protest when Liam interrupts.

“You’re not going in because we have that other issue..Northside,” the partners exchange a look, “they regularly patrol the trailer park keeping tabs on her and your face is too well known among them Cordi. As soon as they’ve done their sweep, we’re moving in.”

“That’ll be the easy part. The trickier piece will be getting Y/L/N to cooperate, she’s proven to be able to see right through our tactics.” Graves turned to Walker, “that’s where you come in. You made inroads with her before, I want you to exploit that connection and..”

“Y/N trusted Duke and he’s dead!” Cordell snapped, “what the hell makes you think she’d trust me,” pointing to himself.

Graves moved to stand directly in front of Walker, “you’ve proven you have no problem implementing certain charms when needed to get the job done. Y/L/N has been sitting on some information we’ve needed for too damn long...”

“..I already know what she’s gonna say, I’m just another asshole who’s using her for their own gains..”

“..then you’re gonna have to get creative, do whatever it takes to get her to cooperate. And from what I saw on that bar video, Y/L/N has a healthy appreciation for your charms.”

Micki lowered her binoculars to watch her partner sitting next to her fidgeting, wearing that expression she’d come to know meant he wanted to hit something, person or object, didn’t matter at that moment, in frustration.

“So how did Y/L/N develop a healthy appreciation for your..”

Walker shifted, clearing his throat, “nothing worth telling.”

“And the bar video?”

“That was Graves trying to get under my skin!”

Micki knew him well enough to know when to call him on his BS.

“You want to try again Beau.”

Walker sighed at his partner's spot-on observations.

“Y/N was the one piece I couldn’t, hell, still can’t, figure out.” He thought back on how she’d been such an intricate part of King's inner circle but never actually in on the jobs.

He was about to say anything to change the subject when there was a loud double bang and they saw the other Rangers entering the trailer.

“Saved by the flash grenade,” Walker quips as they exit Micki’s truck drawing their weapons, making sure the perimeter is still clear heading for the trailer when a man suddenly appeared from under the trailer and took off as shouting came over their radios suspect escaping.

Walker signals Ramirez to stay and with three other Rangers gave chase.

Several minutes later the group returned minus Mannon.

Micki had that knowing look, “he gave you the slip?”

“He’s gotta be working with someone cause there’s no way he could’ve..”

“Uh huh, come on, Captain James is waiting.”

As they enter, Walker notices the trailers sparsely furnished and it's as cold inside as outside with the unusual Texas winter. Captain James nodded in acknowledgement finishing up with another Ranger.

“So, here’s what we know. Mannon got out through a trap door hidden under the carpeting in a closet, looks like it’s been there for a while, most likely for drug smuggling since this place has a history of busts. The paramedics said they’ve found needle marks and are having a hard time rousing Y/L/N, her blood pressures abnormally low with whatever he used, EMT’s are still working to stabilize her for transport.”

Micki started going over the bagged evidence on a kitchen counter, already photographed and tagged, with another Ranger.

Walker's attention was drawn elsewhere.

He moved around the kitchen finding the refrigerator wasn’t working and rummaging through cupboards found only a few cans of an off-brand soup.

The sounds of the shouting for help caught everyone’s attention then the gurney’s coming out with a couple Rangers helping maneuver it with one of the EMT’s riding on it is doing CPR.

As they rushed past Walker catches a glimpse of her and felt like he’d been gut punched.

Cordell got up to stretch his overlong legs for the umptieth time.

Micki had left to check in at Ranger headquarters on how the investigation was going and pick up something to eat, neither were in mood but they'd been there almost twelve hours.

He stopped watching the machine helping her breath and monitors displaying her heartbeat, once again steadily beating, thankful the lab was finally able to figure out what she’d been injected with and given a counteracting agent.

At the same time, he was madder than a wet polecat with the current federal administration's open border policies; the unending flow of such drugs into the country, despite the best efforts of local and state law enforcement agencies to stem it, allowing Cartels and dealers to further expand their illegal activities.

The monitor's steady beeping suddenly accelerated, and Cordell turned to see a pair of very familiar-colored eyes staring at him. He opened his mouth to speak when the door opened and a nurse rushed in.

Walkers shoved out of the room and the next few minutes a whirl as the attending doctor checks her over. He calls Captain James to update him when the doctor comes out informing him she's coherent, they’ll run more tests but Y/N’s stable enough he pulled the breathing tube.

Mustering up his grit, Walker goes back in.

He watches me watch him move a chair over to the bed and barely sat down when the door reopens admitting the nurse.

“I brought some ice chips for you to suck on honey, doctor doesn’t want you to swallowing much yet,” she sits the container down before handing me a dry erase board and marker, “doctors' orders, no talking out loud, any questions will have to be answered written,” she reached up to adjust a saline bag glanced at Walker, “don’t think I won’t kick you out if you break that order Ranger.”

“Yes, ma’am,” he answers as she gives him the stink eye before leaving.

The squeaky noise of the marker moving on the board draws his attention as my hand wavers while writing before holding it up.

Ranger?

“Walker..Cordell Walker”

I swallow wincing not only from the rawness of my throat.

“I know you’ve got a lot of questions,” I gave him that particular look of mine telling him to cut the BS.

He uncomfortably shifts in the chair, “I was sent undercover. I lied and..did whatever I had to get in with the Kings, that was my job. But Duke, those nights when it was just the two of you, what he said to you..what I said to you was the truth.”

I stare him straight in the eye like I did that night outside Annunziata’s.

They’re Duke’s eyes and I find myself scrutinizing them once again, what I can see in them; they’re honest, genuine..and he’s not hiding anything this time.

I close my eyes fighting a gauntlet of emotions I’ve bottled for so long and breathe deeply through my nose wincing, not caring how it’s torturing my throat.

He softly says, “hey, you’re gonna make your throat hurt worse doing that,” then I felt the cold wetness of an ice chip touch my lips and open them enough for him to slip it between then he softly brushes his fingers across them like Duke does..did and I realized it was him all along.

That simple gesture makes my decision.

I wrote asking for pen and paper and a confused Walker pulled said items outta his jacket handing them over. Of course, he can’t stop with the questions and comments as I write, that was the same as Duke.

My hand won’t stop trembling as I scrawl some of the things I knew, filling up a page before handing it back to him to read.

He came to the last thing I wrote and my physical discomfort was nothing compared to the painful emotions written on his face.

Hi, I've been down and out of sorts lately and find myself crying and worrying over everything, I don't have the motivation to do my work and everything feel muted. Can I request a comfort Headcanons for Allen, Lavi and Alma. Thanks

((I went through some stuff too so I hope these will help!!!)

Allen:

He’s freaking out really badly on the inside

Considering all the things that has happened to him in his life, he knows first hand just how lost someone can be

But he’s not very good at comforting compared to people like Lavi and Lenalee

He’d be the type to listen to everything and empathize with you (nodding, agreeing, and even crying)

He’d stick you for a while the moment he hears about any dilemma you’re facing (and if you’re alright with it, he’d stay with you and keep you company)

Definitely try to help you overcome any negative feelings first and foremost, mainly through talking and stress relieving activities (he knows exercise and sparring work pretty well)

His gentlemanly actions becomes 100x more gentler and kinder (mostly because he knows how fragile people can be in their times of need)

He’s 100% ready to do anything for you ex. You want food? He’s running through the halls to the dining room. You want to take a nap? Allen’s bed is ready. You want to just sit with Allen for a while? Done deal, he’s locked the door and put a “Do Not Disturb” sign up.

“You aren’t ever alone, always remember that, and if you ever feel like you do, know that I’m always going to be there next to you.”

Lavi:

He would want to hear what’s wrong and how you’re personally feeling

If you don’t want to talk, he’d prefer being the “I’ll sit with you in silence and just be here for you” type of person

If you want to talk, he’s sitting with you through your entire explanation rubbing circles around your back or just simply holding you in his arms

Your comfort is his top priority and he makes sure your needs are perfectly taken care of while he listens

He personally doesn’t really know how to deal with internal pain and suffering, however, so he doesn’t really know which is better: helping you overcoming over them or simply helping you cope with them better

He ends up doing a bit of both: listening and giving advice but also assuring you that everything you think you might be might actually be wrong (e.x. If you don’t think you’re good enough, he’ll assure you that you’re definitely not “good” because you’re always “prefect”)

After talking or no talking, he’d coax you into relaxing with a nap

He knows how draining internal battles can be, and especially having dealt with them for a while means you must be absolutely drained

“The future might look bleak now, but if you’ll let me, I’ll do everything in my power to change that for you.”

Alma:

He would find the idea of chatting very comforting

Whether it would be about your feelings or even about your previous adventures, he’d want to talk about anything

He’s basically like those kind of people who could sit there for hours and either listen or ramble for long periods of time

His favourite thing to talk about would be funny stories and anything about the interests he shares with you

He would talk and talk on and on about everything that makes you smile to help you momentarily forget about the pain and sadness you feel

He would never try and completely erase the sadness you feel (he knows that sadness is a part of living, but he wants to become the person who can help alleviate that pain)

Usually be relaxing in his room or yours (anywhere quiet and private where it would be perfectly fine to randomly start laughing really loudly)

Would always try to make you feel comfortable (bring tissues, cover you with a blanket, hold your hand, etc.)

Surprisingly, he’ll admit that he reciprocates how you feel, he’s just so nervous of rejection and he worries that his job is too demanding for him to have a happy, healthy relationship

After his own confession, he’ll pull you into a loving kiss, signaling the start of your relationship

I think Allen is aware of what spin the bottle is

In fact, I think it was his idea in the first place, especially after a little convincing on Lavi’s part

When it’s your turn, he is literally bouncing in anticipation

He so wants the bottle to land on him

It’s just his bad luck that it lands between him and Lavi, the latter of which quickly telling you to re-spin to cheer him up

Much to everyone’s surprise, after you’ve gone again, it lands on Allen

He nearly jumps out of his spot to kiss you, causing you to giggle and blush

You’re just too cute when you blush and your little laugh makes him blush as well

Honestly, he grabs both sides of your face before smashing his lips onto yours

The kiss is a bit awkward, but the intentions within it are very apparent

For the rest of the night, the two of you steal glances at each other, looking away and blushing as your gazes meet one another each and every time

He sat there, not moving, as everyone watched expectantly

Kanda glanced at your figure before glaring at the others

Before he could leave though, someone pushed him into you, causing the two of you to lock lips

(A/N : I remember I got this idea after watching now you see me 2 XD. Amazing movie~ *^*)

Ever since Allen learned how to play poker and eventually became pro at it (well more like he knew how to not getting caught from cheating), he always had this pride regarding cards. Thus when he was challenged by you to find and get the card, he was really serious on it. Apparently, you just mastered some card tricks and you kinda wanna showed off to him.

"Well Allen~ Now where's the card?" You smiled as you just showed your palms which there was no card present on both of them. Previously, you showed it on your right hand. But after you brought your hands behind your back and then to the front again with your palms showing, it wasn't there anymore.

Allen frowned slightly before replying "Back hands?"

You just turned your hands around "Nope"

"Then... You hide it on your sleeve, don't you?" He said and you just casually approached him and let him tugged your sleeves.

"Well as you can see, no right?" You smiled

"Then, you keep it on your back?" Allen raised an eyebrow.

You brought your hands to the back and grabbed the hem of your jacket which you indeed hid it there actually and took it before hiding it on your right palm. You turned around and raised it to show that you hid nothing on your back before Allen told you to stop since you still kept raising.

"Okay okay, I can see that you hide nothing there" You could see a blush on his face and you turned around again before smiling.

"See? Nothing right" You slipped the card to the back of your palm before raising both of your hands, palms facing Allen.

"But it still suspicious" He frowned.

"You can do a checking through my body if you don't believe me" You said and he looked kinda uncomfortable with your suggestion but again, he didn't like the fact he was defeated in terms of cards by his girlfriend. He will find the card.

"If you're worried that it may look like you're harassing me don't worry, it's not. And besides, it's only both of us here in your room. Nobody will see us"

Allen thought for a while and you just grinned before he decided to do it.

"Well alright, I don't like the fact that I can't find the card where I'm good at handling cards. So I'm gonna find it for sure, (Name)"

"Okay~! Let's see about that"

Allen frowned before his hands began to roam on your body, starting from both sides, your back, then your shoulders.

You giggled while he blushed furiously since it felt awkward for him to do it. But again, for the sake of finding the card, he would try to restrain the embarrassment. After that, Allen walked to behind you and of course you slipped the card back to your front palm.

"Umm, you don't mind me checking your nape of neck right? Since you could hide it behind your hair..."

"No problem" You said as you used both hands to brought the hair up. Well, you slipped the card inside your sleeve first before doing it.

"Okay, I guess it's not there" He sighed and walked to in front of you. You decided to hide it on collar as you let down your hair before your hands returned to the original position.

"So? Giving up?" You smirked and Allen frowned.

"Nope, I'm gonna do a walk around then"

You shrugged and Allen started to walk from the right. Well since the card was on your back collar, you didn't really need to worry since it was covered by your hair.

"Where is it..." He sighed as he finished his walk and stood in front of you.

"Hehehheheh, I guess I beat you in term of hiding cards!" You grinned.

"I don't want to admit that..." Allen said before patting your head. However, his hand then went to the back of your head then neck before he felt the card was hidden there.

You flinched and Allen smirked as he took it out from you.

"Oh wait, now I don't need to admit anything since I found the card already. I guess I'm still one step ahead of you in term of cards"

"You... You know it from the beginning?" You widen your eyes and Allen just shrugged.

"Sort of. Well I guess I began to suspect after you wanted to show your back. You brought your hands to your back first before turning around right? And why has to be to your back when you can just pulled the hem on the sides? And of course you don't turn around first because you don't want me to see you moved the card from the back to your hand. Then, I guess I can just only assume you that you could swiftly move the card easily without me noticing and then, your last place where you could move it out from your hand is behind your neck"

After listening his explanation, you sighed then pouted "Dammit"

"But even so, you did an amazing job though. I'm impressed" He smiled and gave the card to you.

You took the card and placed it on your front palm before swiftly slipped it to your back.

"So that's how you do it" Allen looked amazed and you just grinned.

"Yeap, I started to learn after I saw that magic performance on the street when I'm on the way back to HQ after finishing my mission. Then ever since I got to learn the trick, I practiced it myself and yeah"

"I see" Allen smiled and you slipped the card back to the front before suddenly flicking it up. At that moment, you swiftly took it back and was about to slipped it into your sleeve when Allen noticed it and grabbed your hand, preventing you from doing it.

"Trying to trick me again huh" He smirked and you just laughed nervously. Allen just chuckled before suddenly, he leaned to you and pressed his lips against yours. You flinched but then quickly responded to his kiss and both of you savored the moment before Allen pulled away.

"But unfortunately it won't be happening cause..." He stepped back a bit before raising his hands and smiled "You'll be searching the card now"

You looked surprised and turned your attention to your hand which the card wasn't there before to him.

"EHHHH?! Wait, you took it when we kissed, didn't you?"

"Hmmm? Well I don't know so why don't you search it?" Allen gave an innocent look before smiling.

"Ahhh it's revenge huh? Alright then, I'm gonna find it and get the card faster than you! You'll see!" You stuck out your tongue before started bombarding him with assumptions like Allen did before. After that since you couldn't find it by asking to Allen, you did a checking too like what he did to you. Well, it certainly took time though and you even repeated again to recheck until you had to stop when Lavi with Lenalee behind him entered Allen's room casually without knocking for some reason and both of them see you crouching with your hands roaming his legs, leading to misunderstanding to them.

"I-I guess.... We're kinda interrupt something... I'm sorry guys!" Lenalee apologized and flustered before leaving.

"Ahh... So (Name) has a leg fetish huh... I make sure I remember that since I'm the next bookman after all" Lavi nodded as if he just learned something before leaving "Well, sorry to bother you guys but continue to satisfy your fetish pleasure, (Name)-"

"YOU... YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG!!" You shouted with blush on your face before attacking him with cards that you had on your pocket. At the same time, Allen could only just sighed as Lavi started to run away and you chased him down.

"Oh well, I kinda cheated to (Name) though. Although not like she knows anyway" He chuckled to himself before looking at Timcanpy who was the one that hid the card.

"I hate to lose in terms of cards after all"
