Omg are Hozier fans finally gonna give Allison Russell her flowers?!?! She’s on “Wildflower and Barley” and she’s touring with him, and her voice is ethereal. She’s got two solo albums out, and she’s in a few bands. I REALLY recommend y’all listen to her song “Persephone” first, and “Hy-Brasil” too, and then obviously the rest of her discography

She’s also the only person I’ve ever seen absolutely shred on a clarinet and I feel like she deserves something for that

Wildflower and Barley is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.

I relate to it from the perspective of a disabled person, which is certainly not what he had in mind writing it but the grief and loss of normal life is something many of us knew well before the pandemic hit.

That longing to still feel useful and valued even when you no longer feel you have anything to offer.

When your body doesn’t move as it once did and you ache to just use it fully.

When the world around you has changed dramatically. When you become part of a community that is constantly in mourning.

It’s universal and specific.

I love him for this song.
