Y’know I think a big reason I loved (and still love) the idea of Mare and Maven together in book 1 is because it’s still so rare to see arranged marriage stories (at least from my experience) where the couple in question actually works out. And it might just be me, but there was so much potential in just the first book that it makes me so sad to know that it was never fleshed out any more than that
