Hi, can I request a platonic Rosie(or several overlords if that’s okay) with a Female reader who’s a teenager overlord who accidentally became an overlord?
The Overlord of Disasters
Fem teenage reader x platonic Rosie (and other overlords)
This got way too long so I tried to shorten it, hope you still enjoy it.
Word count: 2886
Note: I actually am working on a young adult/teenager oc that has the powers to become an overlord, so the fact that this is my first request is very funny. When I've finished her design, I'll write about her. But for now, here is the story of Y/n the overlord of disasters.
Tumblr media
Y\n had to admit that she wasn't the nicest person but she never expected to end up in hell. HELL, like yess she was a bit of a troubled teen... she was a petty thief, yess, but some of her peers were much worse. Besides, she was only fifteen when she died. She never had the chance to do better. That should've given her at least some leeway? Right?? RIGHT???
But no, she ended up in hell.
When Y/n first arrived, she roamed the dangerous streets looking for shelter. Her face and slim goat-like stature was hidden by a torn cloak. She tried to be inconspicuous, discreet, low-key but she overlooked one thing... Our Y/n was ridiculously clumsy. So when she tripped over her own foot, her arm bumped into the light pole causing it to fall over onto a postal van. That in turn caused all the letters to fly out on the street. Some of the papers got carried up by the wind, eventually getting stuck onto the cord of a power pylon. Then there was fire, which spread onto a building...
Everyone's eyes were focused on her, including a set of hollow eye socket. It didn't take long for the demons that lived in the now burning building to storm her.
"YOU FUCKING BITCH!!!" One incredibly tall shark demon took the lead. "I'm going to rip fucking longs out of your chest and feed it to those CANIBAL FREAKS!!!"
At first Rosie didn't want to intervene. It really wasn't her style to get involved into random street fights, even though she found Y/n's disastrous display hilarious. But now that the loan shark insulted her people, she felt it was her duty to step in.
"Gentlemen, whatever might be the problem?" Rosie stepped in between you and the threatening hoard and flashed her sharp teeth to them. "You aren't bullying this poor newcomer, right?"
"Uhm, n-no miss, uhm Rosie. We're sorry." Before Rosie could open her mouth again, they ran back into the still burning building.
The overlord then turned to you. "Now darling, I take it you don't have a place to stay?"
Y/n shook her head.
"Then you can stay with me. I'm quite the powerful demon."
From that day on Y/n stayed with Rosie. During the years of living together, the two grew quite close. The overlord took over a motherly role for the teen. Everyone in cannibal town loved the unofficially adopted daughter of Rosie, they were even willing to put up with Y/n's clumsy nature.
Rosie truly loved her and when Y/n accidentally called her mom while helping out in the store, she was the happiest demoness in all of hell.
From that day on Rosie introduced Y/n as her daughter to anyone and everyone, even some of her fellow overlords.
Alastor and Y/n had met many times and often had tea together. The man often joked about how it's never boring with her. She had also met Zestial and Camilla a few times, but she wasn't as close with them as Alastor and Rosie.
One day Y/n had to make a trip to the Doomsday district. Rosie had, reluctingly, sent you to deliver a dress to a customer. She was all alone, her hand rested on the angelic steel knife on her belt. Rosie had given it to her so she could protect herself, just in case. Most people knew you were close to several overlords but you could never be more careful, especially Y/n.
Y/n was repeating her 'safety protocol' in her head.
Stay away from the walls
stay away from the poles
stay away from the demons
Stay away from the fire
Look where you step
Hold th-
She walked into something and fall back on her but. Looking up was a demon she recognized... An overlord, he was in charge of the Doomsday district.
"WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!!!" This situation seemed awfully familiar.
Y/n clenched her shirt. "I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to."
"I DON'T CARE!!!"
The demon was menacingly towering over her. She crawled back and pulled herself up. Seeing as this wasn't going to be resolved with a pleasant conversation over tea, Y/n pulled out her knife. Her arms were shaking and the knife felt heavy in her hands.
"What do you think that toothpick is going to do?" He stepped forward and you stepped back. On and on until she hit the wall... OH no... she hit the wall...
Her elbow hit the random waterpipe on the side of the building and broke it. Water spewed out right into the overlord's face. The demon fell back. The water had landed on the street, causing a car to slip and running over the overlord and crashing into the wall. This in turn caused the satellite aerial to fall down and slightly bumped your back. The knife shot out of your hand right into overlord. The aerial send out a weird frequency.
"Spare me... Please..." The overlord gasped out.
Y/n was still shaken up. "What?... Uhm I don't plan on killing you." her voice sounded unsure, which the overlord took way different than you meant.
"Please!" He wailed. "I'm begging you... You can have all my souls, just please."
"I don't uhm..."
"PLEASE!!! TAKE THEM!!!"
"... Sure...??" She said very confused. "I'll take them." The two shook hands and immediately, Y/n could feel the pure power flowing through her veins. "Alright... Bye now?" As she stepped away a shadow covered the overlord. Before Y/n could look up a piano hit the demon, pushing the knife deeper in effectively killing him.
What the fuck just happened?
Everything was quiet. All eyes were on her, again... As always, only this time, she doubted she would be saved this time. She was prepared to be killed again... Only nobody did anything, no demons threatening to kill her, no stray bullets that got way to close to her head, not even another butterfly effect disaster... The demons around just stared.
One small demon with black eyes walked up to you... "What are you going to do to us?"
"What...?"
"What are you going to do to us?" He repeated. "You are the new overlord of the Doomsday district, you own our souls."
"I... I don't." She awkwardly grabbed at her sleeves. "I'm not an overlord."
"Yes, you are. You defeated the previous overlord of doom, took over his souls and territory, you became an overlord." Y/n stayed silent at this. "How about we talk in private?" He took her into a smaller building nearby, away from all prying eyes. "Let's start over. I'm Piper. You own my soul." The small demon introduced himself.
"Uhm... Y/n, and I'm no overlord. Overlords are like scary, like WHA!" She made grabby gestures with her hands. "And BOE! I'm anything but that."
Piper looked at her like she had just grown another head. "How about this? I'll keep your territory in control while you think this over a bit? And in turn, you'll keep me in high up in the social latter here."
Her mouth was dry. "... Deal..?" She was so confused.
From that day on Piper took care of the Doomsday district for her. Y/n never went to Rosie about this. She always wanted to keep her daughter safe and would be so mad to find out she got into trouble again... At least that's what Y/n convinced herself.
Even though Piper took care of most of the problems in the Doomsday district, word got around of the new overlord of disasters; a terrifying force of nature that shouldn't be reckoned with. So of course there were demons that wanted to challenge her. Every other day y/n needed to sneak out of Cannibal town to 'fight' these challengers. See 'fight' as in accidentally defeating them.
Y/n was filing her bag with a cloak and a mask she picked up to hide her identity when a knock came from her door.
"Y/n darling! It's me and Alastor." Rosie opened the door and summoned a table. "Please sit down, we want to talk to you."
She sat down in the Victorian style chair, but not before stumbling a bit.
"Little lamb, your mother is worried about you." Alastor broke the silence.
"Deary, you've been sneaking out a lot and staying away for longer and longer and when you come home you're exhausted-" Rosie took a deep breath "- what I'm trying to say is that you can talk to me if something's wrong... You know that right?" Her cheeks were droopy, a frown plastered on her porcelain face, it made Y/n's stomach turn.
"I'm fine, mom. There is no need to worry about me." She lied.
Alastor's eyebrows down, almost like he wanted to frown, but he still had that giant smile on his face. "Are you sure? If somebody is bothering you, we don't mind serving them for tonight's dinner. Hahaha." He joked, underneath, however, he was nervous. The Radio demon had grown quite fond of her and, knowing how clumsy she could be, he couldn't help but worry.
"No, one is bothering me... Thank you for offering though." At this point, Y/n had grown used to the cannibalistic tendencies of the people around her and so shrugged Alastor's joke off.
Rosie had a bad feeling about this. "Can you at least tell us where you've been sneaking of to?"
Shit
Y/n didn't have excuse for this. "J-just some friends... I.. I didn't want them to be scared off, so I didn't tell them about you. I'm sorry mom." Tears filled her eyes, she didn't want to lie to her. Rosie had done so much for her... She was planning on giving this whole being an overlord up anyway, there was no reason for Y/n to tell the truth now. It'll be like it never happened and then she can go back to her normal life with her mom.
Rosie stared into her cup. "Alright deary, but please make sure to be careful. Genuine friends are rare in hell."
"Thanks mom." Y/n stood up again and left the imperium, through the front door this time.
Alastor squinted his eyes, following your silhouette. Something was wrong, you were lying. He could feel it... But this was Rosie's responsibility, so he should leave it up to her. "She is lying."
"I know but if she isn't ready to talk about it, then I'll wait."
"On a different note, did you hear that the Doomsday district has a new overlord." Alastor took a sip from his 'Oh, Deer' mug. "They've been defeating demon after demon. I've been meaning to meet them for my radio show, would you like to come with me?"
Y/n was walking down the street to the Doomsday district. I should've just told Rosie the truth. She thought. But she had panicked and lied, only making it harder for herself.
Stepping into the same, small building where Piper first dragged her off too, Y/n put on her overlord disguise.
"You didn't break anything, right?" Piper asked, dressed in a brand-new suit. "I don't want to fix the sewerage again."
"It went fine!" She put up her thumb, before knocking over a chair that landed on a vase, breaking it in two thousant pieces. "Sorry."
Y/n and Piper walked around the district for a while, more so to let the demons know that the overlord of disaster was still around and that they were close with Piper. She caused chain reactions all around her, letting people know she got her title for a reason... Not her fault the denizens of hell took it the wrong way.
The two were rounding the corner when a familiar set came into view... What were Rosie and Alastor doing here? Y/n's panic only grew once she realised Alastar was trying to get her attention. Did they recognize her? What was happening?
As the two overlords came closer and closer, Y/n ducked into an alleyway and seemingly disappeared~
The dumpster wasn't Y/n's first choice of hiding place but it was the only one she had.
Piper was left alone on the burning streets with two dangerous overlords heading straight for him.
"Where did she go?" The woman, who Piper recognized to be the cannibal overlord, asked. "I swore she was just here."
"And what relation do you have with this new overlord, my incredibly short fellow." The second man Piper knew all too well. The terrifying Radio demon. "I was hoping to speak to her."
"Ah, I- I'm incredibly sorry... B-but the disaster overlord doesn't like dealing with overlord stuff, so she makes me represent." Piper sputtered.
"I see, but you see I want to speak to the REAL overlord. Not some pathetic representative." Dials appeared in Alastor's eyes and strange symbols started floating around. "GOT THAT."
"YES!"
"Lovely, then you can set up an audience for me. How does Friday sound?"
"Perfect, Friday at 5 p.m."
"Great, I can't wait to meet her." The two overlords went on their merry way again through the streets of Doomsday district.
Friday came around and nothing. Alastor had waited for twenty minutes, yet there was no sight of the disaster demon or her little pet. This was rich, never before was the overlord stood up like this. Who would dare to waste his time?! Alastor's stature as well as his antlers grew. That day there was a very horrifying broadcast and Y/n was at home with Rosie. She had to admit she almost peed her pants when Alastor openly threatened her on the radio broadcast...
There was no way she could come clean now. From that day on, you didn't show your overlord self once. Always letting Piper deal with everything.
That was until he came running to you, a letter in hand. It was an invitation to an overlord meeting, one she wouldn't be allowed to send Piper to. At first she didn't want to go, but Piper thought that would be a surefire way to piss off even more overlords. She had to go.
That's how she ended up, dressed in her cloak and mask, in front of an office building in Carmilla's circle of the pentagram. Stepping into the building the place was quiet, no one was around... Was this a trap? Y/n continued on the conference room, although more cautious. Room 666.
Everyone was already there. Were you supposed to come early?
"Disaster demon, glad you could join us." Carmilla spoke first. "We weren't sure you would show up anymore."
Y/n kind of shrugged trying her best to hide her voice.
"How rude, this new generation of overlords ought to know their place. Don't you think so Zestial?" Alastor commented half-jokingly.
"Yes, I must agree." The oldest overlord answered.
You wobbly sat down in your seat, but in doing so breaking the seat. A metal leg shot out to Vox, who protected himself. It ricocheted to the chandelier, which luckily kept hanging. Unluckily though, one of the more heavy ornaments fell down onto the table. It broke in two.
With each sound and broken item, Y/n hugged herself more and more until she resembled more of an hedgehog than a goat. She felt incredibly awkward, tears came out of her eyes. "I'm sorry."
"I'M SORRY!!!! YOU ALMOST BROKE MY SCREEN AND DESTROYED THE CONFERENCE ROOM AND ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY IS SORRY?!!!" Vox screamed, he was about to launch over the broken table but Alastor stopped him.
"Not a step closer my pal." Alastar's horns grew, showing that he was serious in protecting the newest overlord.
"There is only one demon in the entire universe who could create such a mess." Rosie spoke to herself. "Y/n is that you?" Rosie almost couldn't keep herself from smirking when she removed her mask.
"Yes... I-"
"Alright, everyone out this meeting is over!" Carmilla said. The demons left but only with some push. "Not you three."
They were all looking at you, Carmilla, Zestial, Alastor and Rosie, waiting for an explanation.
"Be- Before you get mad at me, this was an accident."
"I'm not mad about my conference room, now explain." Carmilla's eyes stayed focused on her, like lion waiting for its prey.
"I don't just mean the conference room, this was an accident." Y/n points to herself. "I didn't mean to become an overlord. It just kind of happened and I thought you would be mad at me and then I dug myself into a deeper hole, and now I'm here dressed like this embarrasing myself in front of everyone." The tears that had been slowly building up, started flowing.
"Oh deary." Rosie stood up and gave you a big hug. "I could never be mad at you. I just wish you would've told me. We can work this out together, besides this means you have the power to protect yourself. You don't know how worried I was if you would ever find yourself in a sticky situation alone."
"Thanks mom." Y/n hugged her back.
"If I may interrupted your lovely bonding time, but how exactly did you 'accidentally' defeat the previous overlord?" Alastor asked.
"Oh, I didn't defeat him." She explained. "He got runover by a car, then he decided to give me all his souls and a piano dropped on him."
"Excuse me?"

In “The Hollow Boy”, i don't think Lucy's behavior towards Holly is unjustified..just a little petty some times but its understandable.
THB begins with Lucy thinking that Lockwood & Co. are finally functioning as a proper team. She is satisfied and happy.
She comes from a family where her mother only saw her value in being used as a means to earn money. And she left that environment and experienced a bunch of ups and downs with Lockwood & Co. but nothing she couldn't handle.
However, when she goes to revisit her mother in THB, she doesn't receive the any sort of lively or loving reactions from her mother or the others. Not even much concern about why she ran away and is only showing up now. Or where she lived and how she managed..
So now, emotionally deflated, she tries staying positive and thinks to herself that maybe Portland Row was meant to be her home all along, and heads back, holding onto that thought.
But right upon her arrival, she is met with the sight of a new girl sitting in her place, conversing with her boys. A sense of dread fills her because this probably reminds her of her birth home. She probably thinks that yet again, her value to Portland Row and L&Co only lies in her abilities as a listener..Also makes her feel as if she is replaceable..she definitely has some abandonment issues there..
So her snarky attitude towards someone whom she believes is trying to steal her spot (she's barely 15?) is totally understandable. She's like a ferocious little kitten, growling angrily to protect her bed and food 😆
And yeah, some of her actions are a result of outright jealousy, seeing Lockwood give more attention to Holly but that's once again understandable cuz she's a teenager. And Lockwood only adds more fire to her issues by scolding her. He did need to scold her for her recklessness but he should've considered her feelings too but again..Lockwood himself is still young and not all that mature either so its understandable.
Its all understandable. And I think Holly and Lucy handled it very well when they had a proper argument in the Shopping Mall and helped each other all the way back whilst avoiding the ghosts.
Idk where I'm going with this rant but i just wanna say that Lucy isn't annoying or badly-written in THB. She's just a growing teen, still learning and maturing.
the only thing i do hate in the books are the fatphobic remarks she makes towards George..

I want someone to write a bleach AU where Ichigo meets Rukia in his early twenties when he's a stressed out college student trying to figure out what he want to do with his life after trying to go down a medical route and not liking it but not knowing what else to do (I'm projecting so hard but we're ignoring that)
The chaotic potential of Ichigo going through his classes and having to run out randomly to deal with a hollow, of rukia attending his classes with him without formally being a student, of the chaos Kon would create
Give me architecture student Orihime that he occasionnaly talks to because of mutual friends like Tatsuki. Give me fashion design student Ishida that Ichigo doesn't recognize because he never bothered to know his classmates beyond a few here and there and Ishida definitely wasn't one of them.
Give me vet student Chad that has like three cats in his and Ichigo's shared dorm that are definitely not supposed to be there but Ichigo loves them. Rukia absolutely loves them as well.
unhinged ichigo fighting hollows the same way he used to fight those gang members in high school because he wants the adrenaline rush. He would probably get on with Shiro a little better too XD.
Ichigo, who started seeing hollows when he was like sixteen after being attacked by them. Ichigo, who has a weird little power that he doesn't quite know how to use that looks like this weird fullbring thing except without the pass so it's more of like a quincy arrow just not the usual blue colour. It's not really powerful enought to fully take out a hollow cause he doesn't know how to control it but it protects him long enough to get away
Tumblr media
It's an interesting idea, to have him see hollows but not be strong enough to fight them the way he usually does for a long time until Rukia comes along. His attitude towards the whole thing would be a little different as well.
Also having spiritually aware Inoue, Chad, and Tatsuki but the former two don't have their powers because they haven't been fully exposed to Ichigo's leaking reiatsu when he gets his soul reaper powers.
Having Tatsuki be closer to Ichigo because of this is a nice touch too, cause now the two of them can both see spirits and Ichigo doesn't quite feel as lonely as he used. The two of them having a rekindled friendship makes me happy for some reason and idk, her just teasing Inoue for having a crush on him and like, plotting to get them together with some help from Rukia when she arrives because she likes to tease Ichigo about Orihime all the time
Oh, and her having a water style fullbring that she incorporates into her martial arts and creates something like Fishman Karate from One piece would be super cool too. She just gives me water vibes for some reason
Also, Ichigo not being teen makes him far less susceptible to manipulation from the adults in his life, more mature, and probably less forgiving— that last part is because I want Ichigo to punch Urahara for what he did to Rukia in the SS arc because I sort of hate that he was forgiven so easily like Rukia didn’t even seem to care???
That makes me so angry for some reason. Like I like Urahara’s character but it doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s a shady shit. I feel like older Ichigo would be less tolerant of his antics than teen Ichigo
Idk, it just seems like such a funny idea to me-- chaotic substitute soul reaper Ichigo + College stress and the existential crisis of trying to figure out what the fuck you wanna do with your life = hilarity
(I'm projecting so hard, someone help me, my coping mechanism for stress is escapism and I've missed like three deadlines and there's like two weeks before school starts and I haven't even gotten around to making my schedule yet, I'm dying pls)

ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕀𝕟𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕕𝕦𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 (𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕃𝕦𝕣𝕜𝕤 𝕀𝕟 𝕋𝕙𝕖 ℍ𝕠𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨) - 𝔻𝕪𝕝𝕒𝕟 𝕄𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕚𝕙𝕒𝕟
Another character introduction post for What Lurks In The Hollow, this time for Dylan Millihan - Amy's brother.
If you like this, pls reblog! 💕
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎞️About/General Info🎞️
Amy's older brother, a very introverted and seriou 23-year old, Dylan was once a medical student, but after their grandmother died leaving them only debt, he had to dropout in order to take legal guardianship of Amy as they moved back to Vinethorn Grove. He resents their grandmother - Edith - greatly, both for the fact she was an absent figure in their life but because her gambling habits ruined his plans for the future. As of the start of the story, Dylan's especially withdrawn from anybody who isn't Amy, both due to the pressure of finding the jobs he needs to pay the bills and keep them afloat (while still paying their grandmother's debt) and because all that the small town of Vinethorn Grove has done since their arrival has been spreading harmful rumors and making his life even more complicated than it already was - especially after a local middle-aged woman, the 50-year-old Mrs Draycott, gets an unhealthy crush on him and, feeling spurned, sets off to destroy his life. When Amy and her newfound friends start investigating the town's bloody mysteries he is initially wary and against the idea of them digging into the Mayor's corrupt little secrets, but upon realizing that the teens would continue the investigation whether he liked it or not, Dylan decides to help them out in the search - if only to protect Amy, and begrudgingly, her friends.

His usual expression is a tired scowl, both because he doesn't get nearly as much sleep as he should but also because he is the most introverted person in town and feels uncomfortable interacting with strangers.

Watching horror movies with Amy - whenever he's not too tired or worried about something too pressing.
Driving around on his old Chevy, especially to clear his mind
Drinking coffee, especially espressos or cappucinnos. He drinks a lot of coffee, by the way, probably more than it would be healthy.
Being alone with his thoughts, just chilling out, preferably somewhere quiet where no strangers will come to bother him
Swimming in the lake
Shadowboxing, when he has the time
Reading medieval fantasy books, especially gritty ones, or detective thriller stories of the vintage kind
Playing puzzle games on his phone, while listening to folk pop
Additional Favorites (extra list here):
Music: Folk Pop, Indie/Alternative Pop
Person (his 'comfort people'): Mostly only Amy, but after he gets closer to Christine I'd say she becomes one of his favorite people as well.
Candy: Coffee Toffees or Mint Bubblegum
Place: 1. His room, 2. Their Lakehouse, (much later) 3. Christine's Treehouse Home
Fictional Creature: Cerberus, Dragons
Scent: Coffee, Shaving Cream and Dry Leaves
General Dislikes/Hates:
Mrs Draycott. For gods sake this woman is the human incarnation of the devil, she makes his life a living hell - both when she was "infatuated" with him (literally stalking him) and especially during her vengeful advances after he rejects her. She's the bane of his existence and there's few people he hates more.
Being unable to make ends meet or pay the bills, or especially, having to deal with the debt collectors that come knocking on his door.
People who try to scratch his Chevy or who almost bump into it with their own cars while being reckless.
Blackmail and people who try to use his insecurities against him.
Anything that puts Amy in danger or which makes him feel he has somehow failed her, that is his worst nightmare.
Memories of his grandmother - they always make him angry and upset, especially since her debt is a constant reminder of everything he couldn't achieve because of her and the dreams he had to leave behind.
Spending money trivially.
Being late to something important - both job wise and in his personal life.
Strangers who pry into his life and who make snide comments that aren't welcome - or worse, who judge them and tell him what he should 'do instead'. Nothing irks him out more.
Annoying noises/too much noises when he has a headache.
Having to handle too much at the same time when he's in a bad mood.

I see you do Bleach and wanted to asked of pletonic yandere of Kempatchi, Unohana, Shunsui, and Genryusai?
Hc please
YES, THANK YOU FOR THE BLEACH ASK BUT ALSO, DAMN, YOU WANT THE READER TO BE TRAPPED TRAPPED😭 I ALSO ONLY REALLY DID KENPACHI AND UNOHANA, SORRY, I JUST COULD THINK OF ANYTHING FOR YAMAMOTO AND SHUNSUI.
Platonic Yandere! Kenpachi Zaraki:
Tumblr media
- Okay so depending on your age, Kenpachi will be as protective of you as he is Yachiru but if you're a teen or something then he doesn't become a Yandere who wants to shield you from the world, he wants to make you stronger and make you as tough as him.
- It's because of this that maybe he's a bit harder on you then most people, he singles you out sometimes and you often end up a little bruised during his practice matches with you. He's not abusive but he's kinda like those dads that are always tough on their kids and are all: "It'll make you tougher!" when they try to talk to him about it.
- That doesn't mean he'll let any other harm you can't handle hurt you. Like, a hollow is stronger or smarter than you expected, Kenpachi is there to save you and Yachiru cutely greets you as well and he just weakens it before having you kill it, unless you're too injured to do so.
- He wants the best for you but his yandere paranoia that you'll get hurt because he didn't train you well enough is a very real fear for him so yeah, he may come off harsh but he genuinely has good intentions when it comes to it. He just goes about it the wrong way sometimes.
- If you ever catch onto his yandere tendencies or you just want to transfer to another division, he will not let you. Like, he refuses to approve your transfer and tell you that you'll only get killed in another division, Yachiru will infiltrate any other division captain's quarters to steal any secret paperwork in progress. It infuriates Kenpachi a lot because he just wants what's best for you.
Unohana Retsu:
Tumblr media
- Like Kenpachi, Unohana does want you to be strong enough but she's more gentle in the way she trains you and she doesn't prioritize it as much. After all, you have her.
- And Isane, her trusty assistant who is also a bit of a platonic yandere for you. Like let's say you were abandoned at the gates of the Sereitei and Unohana was the first to stumble upon you. She took you in as her own and raised you as such, so Isane is like your older sister.
- You know full well about her past as well, she doesn't want to hide anything from you (aside from the amount of people she's hurt and threatened for you) and she wants you to know that despite her underlying nature, you should never be afraid of her.
- Everyone else should of course. Some other soul reapers are giving you a hard time? She appears right behind them with a gentle smile and an intimidating aura, and they're on their knees begging for your forgiveness as she smiles at you and says: "Well, do you forgive them?" and you tell her you do, because you're scared of what she'll do if you say you don't.
- You will never catch onto Unohana's yandere tendencies, yes she may scare people around you but its only because she cares and she's simply protective, this is what she has raised you to believe. You're blissfully ignorant of her behaviors and she'd prefer to keep it that way♡

Not a Substitute for the Past
Tumblr media
I have to push back against a particular take in Teen Wolf fandom that I feel is not only inaccurate but also a symptom of damaging behaviors in fandom.
Liam is not a Mini-Jackson and Mason is certainly not Danny-Lite.
Saying that Liam and Mason are some sort of cheap replacements for Jackson and Danny is to flatten their characters so much as to be unrecognizable. Of course, they are both best-friend duos, but there were literally four other 'best-friend duos' showcased in the production: Scott and Stiles; Allison and Lydia; Sebastian and Marcel; and Gabe and Nolan. Of them, Scott and Stiles are the most important; all the others, in their significantly different dynamics, serve to examine that relationship.
To me, the only thing that Liam and Jackson have in common is that they're white lacrosse stars. You would have to get rid of all their other character development in order to make the claim that Liam was a replacement for Jackson.
Jackson starts out as a rich, popular sports star, the captain of the lacrosse team, who strides through the halls of BHHS with the adoration of his peers, a smoking hot girlfriend, and protective and involved parents. As the seasons progress, we discover he has issues which spring from his learning that he was adopted and that his biological parents died on the night he was born. Jackson internalized this exterior tragedy, resulting in an impostor syndrome so strong that it had supernatural consequences. Because of this, he's insecure about his own value, and he reacts by being jealous, obsessive, and mean, frequently crossing the line into cruel. While his parents obviously care about him, he keeps them at arm's length. His relationship with Lydia is toxic; even though it's shown that both of them care about each other, it's too often mixed up with the false fronts they put up in order to maintain their status.
In contrast, Liam is younger, but he's definitely not popular. He's insecure, but this doesn't come from an exterior tragedy but a mental disorder: his I.E.D. His inability to cope with it effectively (which to Teen Wolf's credit is never shown as a moral deficiency) has lead to him being expelled from his former school, having an antagonistic relationship with his former coach and the entire Devenford lacrosse team, and having created Hayden as his nemesis. None-the-less, his relationship with his parents is strong, as far as we can tell and in contrast to Jackson. Dr. Geyer is a very good stepfather; we see that in Muted (4x03). Liam doesn't allow his insecurity to make him resent his parents; instead, he is driven to prove himself worthy of their love (which there is no indication that they would withhold). He doesn't have Jackson's status but he wants it, and while he can be stubborn, aggressive and competitive, he doesn't exhibits signs of jealousy or any willingness to hurt others to get what he wants. While he can lash out in anger, he's seldom mean and never cruel.
In addition, their relationships to the lead protagonist are very different, and that is NOT incidental. At the beginning of the show, Jackson's surface persona represents everything Scott aspires to (popularity, a girlfriend, to be seen and recognized) only for him to discover the hollowness beneath that facade. Then, in Season 4, Liam represents everything Scott has been forced to leave behind (the ability to be angry, the right to focus on himself, being taken care of rather than taking care of others, etc.). In the end, Liam isn't a replacement for Jackson because they don't serve the same function in the narrative.
To me, Danny and Mason are both gay -- though the idea that there is a designated gay character is so Eighties -- and they're both minorities -- which is just as Eighties -- but the very nature of their roles within their best-friend duos are vastly different.
Danny is Jackson's best friend on the lacrosse team, despite Jackson often being aggressive and sometimes even hostile toward him ("kind of always at a four"). Danny obviously cares but seems undisturbed by Jackson's more aggressive behavior, though he will push back if he thinks Jackson goes too far. Throughout the seasons, Danny exists in proximity to the supernatural goings-on, yet he manages to keep a distance even with several near misses, so much so that the audience was surprised that he had figured out Ethan's nature. It's not fear of danger; he can be transgressive when he wants to be. Danny manages people by drawing boundaries and respecting those boundaries in others.
On the other hand, Mason becomes far more active in Liam's supernatural life, and it's not because Liam doesn't try to keep him out of it. Mason is curious and involved, and he "wants to help." In fact, his desire to be there for Liam, in my opinion, often leads to Mason enabling Liam in his actions. When he meets the rest of the pack he's immediately willing to engage with them and help them out. He doesn't even hesitate to start the second-longest-lasting relationship in the show with the chimera Corey. Mason allows himself to be far more vulnerable in his relationship with Liam and with the supernatural in question, as compared to Danny's reticence. Another thing I appreciate is that neither approach toward friendship is shown as 'better' than the other. They're just different! (which is the point of this meta).
It will help if you think about these parallel scenes. In Venomous (2x06) Jackson and Danny are working out, and Danny remarks that Jackson is trying to lift far too much weight. Jackson snaps that he doesn't need a spotter, and Danny shrugs and leaves. "I'm hitting the shower. If I come back and you're lying dead underneath a pile of weight, I'm taking the Porsche." Danny still cares, but he's not going to let Jackson get under his skin. In A Promise to the Dead (4x11), the scene is recreated with Liam and Mason. Liam, rather than being consumed by disappointment like Jackson was, is trying to cope with his fear of the Berserkers. Mason, rather than leaving with a quip like Danny, stands there hurt by Liam's behavior. Scott has to caution Liam about pushing his friends away.
Same situation, different motivations from each character involved, demonstrating how while they might be best friends they act in the context of that friendship in different ways. Liam is running away from the possibilities of the supernatural, while Jackson is running toward them. Danny is willing to respect Jackson's boundaries while still caring for him, while Mason is hurt by his inability to help a clearly distressed friend. These difference help demonstrate Scott's evolving role in his peer group and his own growing skills in leadership. He is in a position to help Liam and Mason in a way he wasn't able to help Jackson and Danny.
Liam and Mason are not replacements for Jackson and Danny. Even if Jackson and Danny were present in season 4 through 6, they couldn't possibly have the same relationship with Scott because they were very different people.

Silly thing but... got anything for Eclipsed! Lightning Nightmare?
We love that chaotic ophan-
Ah yes.
The menace herself.
Lightning Nightmare, otherwise known as Hasyut or "Syu," is an Ophan, as we know. She is... a force of chaos.
A younger Archi earned her well before the Conflict, oddly enough. She was escorting and nigh single-handedly protected a caravan of traders and doctors who were transporting a gravely injured Seraph to the Sanctuary. A group of Stellpeci Vespae as a handful of Fulmenix ambushed the caravan, agitated by a pair of rogue Starfolk pirates intending to ransack the caravan. Vespae are forces to be reckoned with, the Fulmenix didn't help any, and the caravan itself was largely comprised of non-combatants (hence the escort to begin with).
Long story short, Archi fought the ambush off by herself, and managed to apprehend one of the rogues. Unfortunately, she sustained some severe injuries and her weapon was completely shattered by the end of it.
Hasyut - still a fledgling Ophan at the time (think late teens) - was part of that caravan.
Some starlets might be traumatized, but Hasyut was all starry eyes and gushing because "THAT WAS AWESOME, did you see that?!", and told her flock about it immediately when she arrived back home. She never got the chance to tell Archi at the time, but boy howdy did she ever when she was given to Archi.
Between Hasyut's flock, the Seraph, and the caravan Archi saved, they decided she really should be given honors. Since her weapon - an exceedingly well made one at that - had been shattered in her efforts, they decided what better way that to bestow on her the honor of an Ophan companion?
And with Hasyut so obviously awestruck and at a perfect age for imprinting on a wielder, the choice of Ophan was obvious enough.
From then on, the two practically grew up together, attached at the hip and not too far off in terms of age (Archi would be, in Starfolk analogue, maybe 3-5 "years" older). She wasn't quite sure what to do with this starry-eyed excitable and chaotic ball of energy, but they bonded rapidly.
That bond transcended the Conflict in sheer loop-hole snagging defiance of Worldless. Where most friendships turned meaningless and hollow and drifted into nothing, this one lasted. Stunted and stilted and filtered through the Conflict's haze, but nonetheless it persisted. The two made for a lethal combination.
During the Conflict, Hasyut became a feared and respected commanding force (well, insofar as "fear" and "respect" still existed to Starfolk). She remained a pointed counterexample to the usual "voice of mercy" so common among the female Ophanim. Her residual pseudo personality so common among the former sophants took a colder, ruthless turn. You may remember it was her that ordered Willow to dispatch of The General. This, interestingly, was one of the very few cases of directly offensive action on the Lightfolk's side. They typically played defensively - they could afford to, and given their goals made perfect sense.
Were it not for other orders, she would have done so herself - she had it out for this rival commander. How could this weaker, Dark star, not even on par with an Ophan, be doing so much damage? It infuriated her. She would never admit to the lingering jealousy buried somewhere in there.
It's during this timeframe that Hasyut earned herself the title of the Lightning Nightmare, leveling small squadrons of Darkfolk with her absolutely brutal attacks and elusive combat rhythm. Even Lightfolk often gave her a wide berth on the field, both for fear of getting caught in an indiscriminate shockwave, and also for sake of actually having a fight.
Between Archi and Hasyut, the Darkfolk suffered some egregious losses. It's a lucky thing neither one found Aven - they came eerily close a couple times.
Post-conflict, Hasyut and Athena actually get along much better. It takes a bit though. That said, Willow is dumbfounded, mildly exasperated, and amused. Athena and Hasyut also share a mutual wide-eyed admiration for Archi, and Hasyut absolutely has to tell The General about The Caravan Incident. They are the leading members of the Archi fan-club, occasionally joined by Edda, Willow, and Aven.
Oh, and by the time the dust is settled, Archi and Hasyut are Animi Gemini. Ophan's and their wielders already have an incredible bond, but it's got a different timbre to it, and is utterly unique to Ophan and wielder. Animi Gemini is layered over that.
Attached at the hip as always, Hasyut remains by Archi's side doing medical work as an assistant, go-fer, and moral support. Her bedside manner leaves... something to be desired, though.
By now, "Lightning Nightmare" has retextured to a more affectionate nickname. While she finds some amusement in it, it also feels strange in her mouth and ears most of the time. She's never said anything about it, but Archi is really the only one who she doesn't mind it coming from. Archi picks up on this after a while, and starts subtly discouraging people from using the nickname. It still haunts Hasyut's dreams though, and eventually, in an effort to own it, she repurposes it into a racing moniker (she eagerly participates in the various races and athletic competitions the Starfolk hold, especially against other Ophanim).

So for the tens and tens of people out there following my WIPs, I apologize that it's been ages since I posted another chapter. At first it was just a monster case of writer's block but then a potentially devastating health crisis came up--for now it looks like I'm at least not staring down the barrel of imminent doom, but it has been a teensy bit distracting. I'm trying to get the creative engines revving again, but it's slow going. I don't wanna force things and end up cranking out garbage chapters, but it's hard not to pressure myself. So to lift my spirits and maybe re-ignite some confidence, I've decided to post links to the works I'm most proud of.
**fandoms represented below the cut are Heartstopper, 9-1-1, Good Omens, Sleepy Hollow, and The Magicians. Comments welcome but certainly not required (she says whilst mewling in the general direction of her inbox)
Protected. The Magicians, Queliot. Explicit but also full of romance and cuddles. If I had to pick one project as my "crowning achievement," it would be this baby. It follows Queliot's entire life together. 11 chapters. **it even got mentioned in a list on syfy, I had no idea until someone pointed it out to me in the comments, and yes I did 100% squeal about it for days even though it was just a tiny blurb on the list
Inconvenient Mistletoe. Sleepy Hollow, Ichabbie. Porn With Plot. (lots of plot) This was the first fanfic I ever wrote. Had no intention of publishing, but in a sudden fit of daring I posted it to ff.net and it got such an enthusiastic response I kept going. Covers the whole Apocalypse and a few years beyond. Every fic I've written since then owes its existence to this one. 17 chapters.
Of Guilt and Victory. Heartstopper, Nick and Charlie. General Audiences. This one is strange in that the story is what it is because Nick can't bear the thought of finding out someone has un-alived themselves when he knew it might happen and did/said nothing to intervene. This is in regards to Ben but at NO POINT is he forgiven for what he did nor sh*tty behavior in general, but this idea just fell into my mind based on what a beautiful golden retriever of a human Nick Nelson is, and the story evolved from there. It's odd, but I'm proud of it. 7 chapters.
A Series of Odd Proposals. Heartstopper, Nick and Charlie. General Audiences. This is one of those WIPs I mentioned. 8 chapters so far. It follows them through adulthood. In the chapter I'm currently writing their daughter is sixteen.
*Discalimer re: my 911 fics* yes I've written for both buddie and bucktommy, if it offends you that I've done such a thing the solution is easy: don't read them.
All's Well That Ends Well. 911, Buddie. Teen and up audiences. The whole thing pretty much revolves around the evolution of their love story from present day into old age. 10 chapters.
Buck's Gonna Buck. 911, Bucktommy. Mostly GA, but there is a brief mention of sex toys to I tagged it teen and up. These three "chapters" are just short, ridiculous drabbles. 1) Buck's POV getting ready for a date. 2) Tommy's POV getting ready for the date. 3) The date. Just silly fun. We haven't had much time w/them yet but I'm hoping to write more for them in s8 when there's more material to work with.
All Roads Lead Back. Good Omens, Aziracrow. Teen and up. One of those obnoxious WIPs. Starts a few weeks after s2 ends. 11 chapters thus far and we're tits deep in a rebellion against The Metatron in Heaven and searching for the true Almighty. Also, Muriel is a badass.
The Long Way Home. The Magicians, Queliot. Teen and up. Eliot embarks on a desperate mission to bring Quentin back from the underworld. Angst, danger, adventure, longing, romance, humor. Even a musical episode ********Okay, so this one is unusual in that I was just about to start writing the LAST DAMN CHAPTER when the pandemic hit. And how had I planned to end it since the very beginning? Well our heroes would win the war of course, but as a last act of vicious revenge before defeat the Library was gonna . . . wait for it . . . unleash a deadly pandemic upon the world and kill millions. I came up with this ending long before the pandemic, but . . . yeah. Nope. But I couldn't think of a better idea either. So it just sat there without an ending and thanks to everything else going on in the world I totally forgot about it for like a year. And when I did remember I still couldn't come up with anything better than my original idea. Should I finish it and stick to the original plan even though it's SO on the nose? I am super open to alternative suggestions here, because if it had an ending I absolutely would have listed it right up there with Protected. Currently 12 chapters. Again, alternative ending suggestions super welcome!

Do you consider that during the period that Hayley was married, Jackson was a stepfather? I don't know, I don't see him like that, in my vision he always tried to turn Hayley against the Mikaelsons, sometimes I see it like that because I'm not a big fan of Jackson when it comes to them, so He was just a man whom Hayley got married to save her daughter
And what do you think it would be like if Hayley, Hope and Elijah had left when she said she wanted to build a life with them? Do you think Elijah would take on a fatherly role? Did I ask, making sense of my doubts?
Tumblr media
To me he was a stepfather but not a father, if that makes sense. Which is funny because people always get mad at him for trying to "take Klaus' place."
I will preface this by saying most of my opinions on this come from the lack of development the writers gave Jackson as well as the fact that the writers didn't want baby Hope, they just wanted teen/adult Hope.
When people get mad at me for how I view Jackson, they usually bring up quotes from the show but struggle to actually point to moments where Jackson is exhibiting those traits. Jackson is a classic mistake in writing of "show don't tell." Instead of showing us that he's a good father to Hope, they tell us and we are supposed to just take the character's word for it. The show essentially left a lot of their relationship up to our imaginations and I just never made headcanons with Jackson so it fell flat. But to me, he cared more about marrying Hayley than being a father to Hope.
Again, part of this is due to the fact that we hardly see anyone in season 3 interact with Hope. I get that it's hard to have a baby on set, but when you launch a whole spinoff around a magical baby, it helps to have a baby. I definitely think Jackson loves Hope, but not necessarily as his own. I feel like he held the Mikaelsons against her a little bit. If he and Hayley would have (could have) had their own kid, they definitely always would have fought over Jackson saying "our kids" versus "your kid." I also think that if Hayley would have been willing to leave Hope with Klaus and start a family with Jackson, I don't think he would have been upset by that. Anything to get away from the Mikaelsons.
I don't blame Jackson for not wanting to associate with the Mikaelsons after Klaus cursed them all. Although, ironically he was the one making side deals with Klaus in season 1 and 2. However, he had no right to give Hayley an ultimatum, especially where Hope is concerned. Of course, if you love someone, you don't want them to be around toxic people. But you don't get to make that decision for anyone else. People have to be allowed to make their own decisions. You can only set boundaries for yourself, and he does. He gives her an ultimatum and when she picks the option he doesn't like, he leaves. This is where I have a hard time with him as a father. It reminds me of Ginny and Georgia (*spoilers*) when Paul finds out the truth about Georgia and he initially leaves but then he can't stay away because he loves the kids so much. It takes him less than 24 hours to decide to help Georgia to protect the kids. (*end of G&G spoilers*) Jackson leaves and doesn't even reach out to Hayley for an entire month while he knows they have enemies in town. Yes, he had every right to do that, but I can't help but hold that against him as a father and husband. Just like I hold Klaus not reaching out to Hayley while he has to stay away with the Hollow against Klaus. We can headcanon that Mary is updating him but again, the show doesn't bother telling us anything.
I personally hate the scene when Jackson walks out. I know he is mad that she went to help the Mikaelsons, but Rebekah was actively kidnapped and drowning at the bottom of the ocean. He then makes her feel guilty because he had to put Hope down and she cried for a long time. A husband/father shouldn't make his wife feel guilty because he had to put the baby down. And, a husband should never make a mother feel guilty that her baby was crying. That detail was unnecessary. Yes, he was mad at her reasoning and mad that he made Thanksgiving dinner and she missed it, but there was other ways to say it. He weaponized Hope against her. It just made him sound like he resented having to play stay-at-home father, but what else was he doing? Neither of them worked.
I also think Jackson had this idealized idea of what his life with 'Andrea' was going to look like and it didn't include a magical child she had with another man. Even when she was living with the bayou, she didn't feel supported by him. She tells Eve that she's on her own with the baby. He does build her a crib but then after she 'looses' the baby, he doesn't even reach out. Compare this to Cami who is in tears, running to Klaus when she heard to see if it was true. Also, compare the reactions to Cami meeting Hope and Jackson meeting her. The writers are also a bit sexist and focused more on building Cami up as a stepmother and didn't focus too much on Jackson as a stepfather.
I don't like to always compare Jackson and Elijah because I don't think it is super helpful to the discussion. We should be able to analyze one without the other. However, since you asked, I do think Elijah plays more a parental figure to Hope. He also has the advantage of being biologically related to Hope. No matter what was going on between him and Hayley, he was always going to be in Hope's life.
Although, I do think that it wouldn't have mattered to Elijah if Hayley had a baby with someone else. I think he still would have taken on a parental role because he loves to be a parent. We know from the past that he was willing to be with Tatia and be a father to her child, so I don't see a difference with Hope.
I don't think Elijah would have ever left town without Klaus to start a life with just Hope and Hayley. The only way he would is if there was no way to protect Hope and Hayley while saving Klaus. Even then, he would go back for Klaus. Elijah was always very careful to not overstep his role with Hope. He knew Klaus' fears and also knew how Klaus tended to behave when he felt insecure. For everyone's sake, Elijah would keep a respectable distance as an uncle. Although, Elijah always just kind of acts as the parental figure of the group, so that wouldn't change too much. I can definitely see him taking on the more strict disciplinarian role while Klaus just spoils Hope.
Thanks for the ask! I hope I answered it all <3

the  first  person  alastor  ever  killed  was  his  father.
and  if  you  were  somehow  able  to  pester  the  truth  out  of  him  (  perhaps  with  a  few  glasses  of  whiskey  in  tow  )  that's  probably  how  he  would  spin  it  —  painting  himself  an  unempathetic  slaughterer  of  his  own  flesh  and  blood,  with  exactly  the  sort  of  macabre  whimsy  you  would  expect.  from  the  way  alastor  would  tell  the  tale,  he  doesn't  make  it  out  to  be  some  big  grandiose  act  of  vengeance  or  spite  or  what  have  you.  he  honestly  acts  more  enthused  about  the  fact  it  was  his  first  murder  than  the  identity  of  the  victim  in  question  —  like  it  could  have  been  anyone,  but  (  as  an  inconsequential  little  footnote  )  it  just  so  happened  to  be  dear  old  dad.
it's  all  an  act,  of  course.  though  not  necessarily  in  the  way  you  might  expect  —  because  the  first  person  alastor  ever  killed  was  indeed  his  own  father,  but  the  part  he'll  always  conveniently neglect  to  share  is  that  it  was  a  complete  accident.
yes,  he  has  always  been  a  momma's  boy  and  yes  he  was  never  particularly  fond  of  his  dad  —  but  the  situation  is  not  nearly  so  cut  and  dry.  his  father  was  barely  around  when  he  was  growing  up.  (  long  stretches  of  time  spent  toiling  away  on  a  ship,  or  so  he  was  told.  was  that  the  truth?  who  knows.  he  doesn't  care.  )  his  mother  was  the  person  he  spent  more  time  around  than  anyone,  and  the  inverse  was  also  true  —  so  it's  only  natural  that  they  would  be  quite  close.  she  was  a  kind  soul,  the  sort  with  a  faint  tinge  of  loneliness  only  truly  noticeable  in  those  quiet  moments  when  she  believed  no  one  was  looking.  i  think  there's  a  part  of  al  that  always  felt  somewhat  protective  over  her,  even  when  he  was  just  a  child  —  not  necessarily  because  she  was  fragile  or  helpless,  but  rather  because  she  was  all  he  had.  comparatively,  his  father  was  basically  a  stranger.  he  didn't  really  speak  with  him,  didn't  really  go  out  of  his  way  to  interact  with  him  even  when  he  was  around.  he  quietly  resented  the  moments  his  dad  was  home,  because  children  are  more  intuitive  than  they  get  credit  for  and  he  could  feel  how  the  atmosphere  of  the  house  changed  for  the  worse  whenever  he  was  present.
there  was  always  tension  present  in  his  parents'  marriage.  (  i  don't  think  al  has  ever  really  witnessed  what  a  healthy  marriage  looks  like.  )  it  wasn't  physically  abusive,  but  there  was  a  very  clear  cycle  of  lovebombing,  gaslighting  and  neglect.  things  would  get  bad,  and  then  his  father  would  start  babbling  those  same  old  tired  promises  —  he  can  change!  he  can  get  better!  just  give  him  a  chance!  again,  again,  again.  and  perhaps  there  would  be  brief  stints  of  time  wherein  he  would  try  to  make  good  on  those  hollow  reassurances,  before  inevitably  sliding  back  into  old  habits.  alcohol  and  infidelity  and  verbal  abuse.  there  was  no  love  in  this  marriage,  just  two  people  trapped  in  an  unhealthy  situation  because  clinging  to  the  rotted  planks  of  this  sinking  ship  was  the  best  bet  they  had  to  keep  from  drowning.  frogs  trapped  in  a  pot  of  boiling  water.  (  hand  in  unlovable  hand.  )  and  alastor  was  there  to  witness  it  all.  never  the  focus,  never  subjected  to  the  abuse  directly,  but  still  molded  by  its  presence  nevertheless.
he  intervened  only  once  —  the  single  time  his  father  actually  did  lay  hands  on  his  mother  in  alastor's  presence.  he  was  in  his  teens  at  that  point,  fresh  off  a  growth  spurt  that  left  him  nearly  as  tall  as  the  man  himself  —  and  perhaps  that's  the  reason  why  he  underestimated  his  own  strength.  alastor  really  only  intended  to  get  him  away  from  her,  but  the  force  of  the  shove  sent  him  stumbling  and  his  neck  came  down  on  the  edge  of  the  countertop  at  the  perfect  angle  to  snap  it.
he  can  still  recall  the  sight  of  him  laying  there,  body  jerking,  head  twisted  in  such  a  way  that  just  didn't  feel  right.  a  cold,  twisting  sensation  in  the  pit  of  his  stomach  like  he's  just  swallowed  a  mouthful  of  seawater.  (  no  guilt.  no  fear.  only  numbness.  )  then  a  warm  hand  resting  on  his  shoulder  and  a  familiar  voice  telling  him  it's  okay.  it's  going  to  be  okay.  for  what  is  a  mother  if  not  the  one  to  come  swooping  in  when  her  child  has  created  a  mess?
they  buried  him  together  in  secret.  never  spoke  a  word  of  it  again.  and  as  far  as  anyone  was  concerned,  alastor's  father  just  never  came  home  one  day.

atla fans can be pretty orientalist ngl like TEXTBOOK orientalist.
like okay I know I know the original show is so good but it isn't perfect and there is PLENTY of room for improvement. plenty. we all knew this at the time, back when it was airing and then there was that long break between books 2 and 3. like we all knew it was great but also had its problems. idk why fans from the original run act like this show is perfect.
one of the biggest problems has always been how white the writers room was. how the creators, especially bryke, were profiting by selling the aesthetics of various asian and indigenous peoples to a us american audience.
this is how you get the borderline weird anti-indigenous focus on sexism and misogyny in the water tribes without much exploration of how sexism and misogyny impacted other groups. like actually I'm GLAD that it's toned down but still present in the live action show because sokka was mostly around women and girls for a lot of his teen years. why would HE be so over the top sexist? like in comparison with anyone else, it makes no sense. unless of course you think about it through the lens of how white colonizers tend to think of indigenous peoples - backwards.
I think it's interesting that this show is mostly being worked on by Asian and indigenous people and so many fans never even wanted to give it a chance. I know, I know- I remember the film too. but from the jump, fans have been so quick to dismiss EVERY little detail* or leak without even seeing it first.
bryke are a big part of the story, I know. but they are not all of the people who were behind it. it seems to me that a lot of the fans of this show are weirdly protective of these two white guys who decided to part from the show. they weren't forced out, they left. and yes I'm biased because I saw just how shitty they treated fans of zutara (largely girls and VERY, VERY diverse) at literal conventions, how they egged on some toxic bullying from other parts of the fanbase to the point that frankly it's never really worth engaging in non-zutara fan spaces because people are so reactive and weird about even the mention of zutara. and then these same assholes will make comparisons to reylos as if zutara fans EVER harassed poc fans and especially actors. but whatever, that's my bias. but I can respect that they also created this amazing show that I've loved for half of my life.
I still see it as a good thing that the people working on this show come from the cultures bryke and nickelodeon profited off of without giving anything back.
so I guess my question to white fans is this: if you haven't watched yet because you are mad about bryke or some of the changes you've heard about or whatever, why do you not trust people from the cultures atla draws upon to adapt this story? are you just here to consume exotic aesthetics? why are bryke the only people who can sell those aesthetics to you?
*btw I'm not talking about the sokka casting shit, that's different and should be criticized. Also Albert Kim was the showrunner of Sleepy Hollow and was complicit in racist treatment of Nicole Beharie so he is not someone I trust very much. also there are definitely critiques I have of the show but it's not bad, not even remotely. it's worth watching.

Grief is a peculiar and at times bewildering companion in our lives, both oddly familiar and hauntingly recognisable. We’ve all encountered it, whether through the fading flowers presented by a hopeful suitor, wilting before the third date, or the devastating loss of of a cherished childhood pet.
My initial encounter with grief happened when I was on the cusp of becoming a “pre-teen ”. Back then, its impact didn’t run as deep as I’d later come to understand. I watched my loved ones devastated over, what, at the time, appeared to be the mere hollow shell of someone I once adored. Truth be told, by the time the food at the reception was served, I had nearly forgotten that I had lost someone I loved.
Years went by, and it seemed as though grief was an elusive concept.  It was almost as though I was protected from it by an invisible shield. Little did I know that grief and I were on the verge of an inexplicable friendship, the kind where you don’t converse frequently, but when you, it’s as if no time has passed.
This time, I stood at the cusp of adulthood when the unimaginable occurred-I lost my my best friend. To be clear, it was my cherished dog, but he was unquestionably my closest confidant. His passing left me shattered, isolated, and gripped by fear.
Initially, the grief I felt was palpable, a torrent of anguish and torment. However, this time around, grief didn’t leave me as the days slipped by. It would visit me at the oddest moments, whether I was wandering through grocery store aisles or walking alone in the rain. the grief I had once regarded as a fleeting emotion had transformed into a permanent resident within my thoughts.
Embracing grief and permitting it into my life allowed me to deal with other losses more gracefully. So, why would I want to part ways with this dear companion? This newfound closeness to grief not only aided me in coping with the conspicuous losses but also the more subtle ones, like the demise of a relationship or the death of a friendship.Unfazed by grief, I was no longer held back by the fear of losing someone.
This is, until it inevitable transpired- my ultimate loss, the one that altered everything. This person was unlike any other. She had seen me at my most vulnerable, both physically and emotionally. She loved me not despite my flaws, but because of them. I had envisioned that my friendship with grief would protect me. Grief and I were meant to coexist harmoniously, shielding me from the shattering of my world. Grief mistook my vulnerability for an invitation and became a part of me. It is no longer a fleeting sentiment or a passing thought. I no longer cry in grocery stores or momentarily forget my loss; I now carry the constant weight of grief’s presence. Perhaps, in the end, I should offer my gratitude to grief. At least now, I’ll never forget the depth of my loss

What do you think the most important thing is that Shouto learnt from Katsuki and vica versa? What are the most important ways they impacted each other?
oh this is a hard question what the hell…
there are a lot of ways to answer & i don’t want to have to stick too close to canon bc otherwise if i know myself i’ll spend hours rewatching the whole show so i can be specific enough. so instead i’m just going to answer this in a somewhat broader characterisation sense.
shouto’s influence on katsuki is the more obvious one. it’s kind of like… katsuki seeing what he could become by way of endeavor & then learning from shouto by contrast. both endeavor & shouto are highly talented people who excel in the field of heroism, which is something katsuki admires, but by knowing shouto and his relationship w his father katsuki sees what ego and a hollow desire to be The Best Hero can lead to. and instead you have shouto who is Incredibly Good at everything but also is a good person bc he’s a perfect angel. shouto’s complete dismissal of katsuki early on (imo bc he has a lot of the same traits shouto hates) grates at him, esp when shouto takes an interest in izuku. so as plot advances katsuki keeps seeing the way shouto does things, and unlike w izuku since he actually respects shouto i think it’s a more effective learning experience for him. see the scene during remedial arc where shouto is like ‘no violence is not the way to teach kids’ and katsuki is all ‘well it worked fine for me!’ but ultimately allows the pushback. i think down the line he really starts to internalize the fact that shouto is just a Better Hero than him in the same way izuku is and that they both have a better grasp on what the point of heroism actually is. tldr what katsuki learns from shouto is that you can be The Best and still be Good, and that this is in fact the harder but more admirable thing to strive to be.
for katsuki’s influence on shouto… in the same sense that katsuki obviously learns the above from izuku too (once he gets over his raging hatred of him), there’s an overlap to what shouto learns from izuku and from katsuki. yes izuku teaches him to defrost (ha) and connect w the heart of heroism (and himself), but he also (in a connected sense) teaches him that ‘it’s your quirk, todoroki!!!!’ and that he can be passionate in his ambition, not just coldly perfectionist. on the latter point, i think katsuki is a similar influence on shouto bc he is so furiously emotive about how much he cares abt his goals. also katsuki has so much… fun with it? he takes heroism incredibly seriously but he has a blast with it bc he just thinks hes hot shit. i feel like for someone like shouto who has so much trauma associated w his quirk it’s probably quite liberating to see that attitude in his peers. and as we can see from shouto consistently taking katsuki’s attitude in stride/being amused by it later on, i think in general something about him kind of brings out the teen in shouto, as he continues to outgrow his protective shell. and i think katsuki’s own growth throughout the series is a healthy thing for shouto bc it reaffirms his new more optimistic worldview, where people can grow and learn and better themselves if they make the effort to. so in general ig katsuki feeds into shouto’s allowing himself to feel the things he feels & want the things he wants & ultimately maintain the belief in a better life/ world being within reach.
to your last point i would also say that they have impacted each other in the sense that they are each other’s friends!! and also support. like from jump bc they’re so A league in UA when there are fights they can rely on each other to handle shit, before they even like each other at all. in sooo many fights they’re holding down like half the opposition and they never need to cover each other’s bases bc they trust the other is good enough, which is i think a very underrated thing? considering the kind of high stakes death matches they’re in as teenagers, having someone around they actually trust innately is pretty significant. and then in a separate fashion they are obviously friends also! moreso later on, but if shouto thinks they are post remedial arc then i think so too. beyond how funny they are together i think in early days shouto’s calm confidence is a good counter to katsuki’s angry arrogance, and katsuki’s snarky pragmatism is a good counter to shouto’s meandering self-seriousness. & they have quite a bit in common when you think abt the rest of their peers that i think is more obvious when they’re older, like workaholic tendencies and old man hobbies and truly iconic repartee. + whereas w other people they are necessarily the most (insert protagonist trait) around, bc they’re on a similar playing field when they’re together they’re allowed to just be goofy.

What is the worst injury that Xisuma got when Grian and Timmy were still kids in Diverging Future and how did they react?
(Sorry I’m a sucker for angst rn)
Okay, so-
Grian and Jimmy would have been very careful and cautious kids to start with, so it was really only when they were teens did they start doing things that could have ended up getting anyone injured. It was actually a prank that Grian had been setting up (one that was going to be harmless in the end) that ended up being the worst injury that Xisuma got.
Grian had been hollowing out a hole in the ground, planning on filling it with water so no one would get hurt when they fell in, when he had been called in by Xander for dinner as Xisuma had been doing his Admin school exams that day.
Unfortunately, as Grian had forgotten to put up a barrier around the hole, when Xisuma got home, exhausted out of his mind from the exams and many sleepless nights, he didn't see the hole and ended up falling in.
He luckily didn't break anything but he did fracture his left leg (it definitely could have been worse but he had his armour on which helped to protect him).
He ended up not being able to walk for a few weeks, needing to stay off of his leg, and Grian felt incredibly guilty as he blamed himself for what had happened, locking himself in his room and only emerging when he had no choice to, and it was only when Xisuma was able to corner Grian and tell him that he want to blame did Grian even thing of forgiving himself for what had happend.
Grian also refused to play any pranks for months after that, terrified that they would go wrong, but Jimmy ended up starting a prank war with him, which got him pranking again.
