And when he interacts with Sam Winchester or Eileen Leahy at his stall, it’s easy. He says hello, they say hello back. The Swans are just people. And yet, Dean Winchester remains unfathomable.

we all agree this is canon, right? a classic. it completely shook me up the first time i read it, and honestly it change my perspective of the entire show, for the better of course.

another western au!! this list would not be complete without this fic. one of my very faves. it's my ultimate comfort fic. i get so sad whenever i finish it because i never want it to end. i can't praise it enough i don't have the words

i have no idea what waitress is and it literally doesn't matter because ivy makes this its whole own world... if you want something insanely sweet, with amazing character depth and that feels like a warm hug, look no further. this is one of my comfort fics and i have read it multiple times and will read it again!!!!!

if you're reading this the day i post this you might have seen me losing my mind on the dash. read it one sitting because it pulled me in instantly and would not let me go. so beautifully written and it's... it's the ending we deserved. i think this needs to be the next fandom classic i am Not joking. one of the few fics that made me sob my eyes out i don't even know what to say anymore just read it please trust me it's WONDERFUL.

Coming Clean (At Least I'm Trying)- Fandom: Supernatural. Pairing: Destiel. Alternate ending to s15, where Castiel struggles with his new humanity and Dean struggles with his nascent sobriety. They both try to make their new relationship work. Features Jack and Sam in big supporting roles. Multi chapter, some already up on AO3 here. I lost half of the next chapter because my computer crashed, and I have been struggling to get back into it.

Blood Brothers- Fandom: MCU. Pairing: Winterfrost. The sequel to my fic Pieces of Me Fit Pieces of You. AU: Canon-divergent after Thor: Ragnorak, ignoring credit scene. Loki and Bucky adjust to life in New Asgard, the people who love them adjust to each other, and the shadow of the Mad Titan looms on the horizon. Features Einar, the best horse ever, and many Avengers in supporting roles. I don't have anything posted yet, but I've outlined a lot of it. Hyperfixation brain has not let me work on this in a while.

The Autobiography of Una Chin-Riley- Fandom: Star Trek. Pairing: Garashir. After Julian's augmentations are revealed, Garak comes to him with a most interesting book. Intended to be a one-shot where Garak and Bashir discuss eugenics and civil rights, and what effect the legacies of both Una and Khan had on Bashir's decision to join Starfleet. I have about 1300 words of this so far.

Killing Time and Killing Dads- Fandom: The Flash CW. Pairing: Coldflash, pre-relationship. Canon-divergent AU where after Zoom kills Henry but before Barry creates Flashpoint, Snart appears on the Flash's radar and the two discuss fathers, failures, and the things they can't change. I've been mulling this over for a while but haven't written it. It would probably be a one or two shot. If you want to know my voices for these characters, check out my other fic that also has Snart being around for Henry's death. I guess I just like the concept.

Untitled Bashir War fic- Fandom: Star Trek Pairing: none focused, but probably light Garashir because I can't help myself. I watched Band of Brothers recently, and the episode "Bastogne" prompted me to consider the toll being a battlefield medic took on Bashir, and meditate a bit on how little war has really changed through the centuries. I have 1100 words so far. I need to rewatch a few Dominion War episodes to make sure I don't have any glaring contradictions in my Star Trek medicine.

Not any particular fic, but some of my usual light stuff you might find in my "Sam Writes Stuff" tag- things like Garashir reacting to stuff, random head canons that may or may not become fics later, various fandoms. Most likely to be Arrowverse Flash, Star Trek, Dragon Ball, Supernatural, or Batfam.

i love the idea of this group but it's a little hard to know where to start when it comes to all the different fandoms and times merge together

i'm sorry it's confusing for you! i will try to clear it up in the simplest way possible, but if it's still not making sense you know where to find me love! the characters from the past are all starting from the beginning meaning s1 ep1. that would include scott, stefan, elena, dean, sam, etc. the next gen characters and legacies characters that are from the future would be pulled from the end of their shows/the final showdown with chuck. hope's spell protected them from being wiped from existence, but it also brought them back in time when chuck decided to "reboot" everyone's story. so tldr for them; legacies canon ends with s4, spn canon ends with s15 (with canon changes mentioned in the plot), teen wolf canon ends with the movie (for eli hale and any oc next gen kids that might become requested by tw muses). this new universe is just chuck's way of merging his favorite stories and letting havoc wreak on them now that they won't have his writers "protection".

The season finale is here! Spoilers below.

This season finale was so good!! Better than what was that s15 finale we got.

Also once again can we not have it always be about Rossi.

What the heck is Gold Star and how does Elias know it. Most importantly what does it entail that Elias was confident enough to use it as a bargaining tool and freak everyone out.

Willifer in the field was so great to watch but please don’t let Will get shot ever again.

Ahhh so that scene with Luke finding Rossi was the final scene that they shot.

Maybe Garvez next season? No more Tyler and that scene with Luke and Garcia was everything. Need them to confess their feelings for each other soon.

I was surprised that Elias was taken in alive but that final scene makes me think this won’t be the last time we see him.

No!! Bailey can’t be dead. I was starting to like him. Why did they have to kill him off. He could’ve contributed so much more in s17.

Tebecca still aren’t back together. They better be next season.

And omg that ending. Calling it, Matt is the one at the door. Gold Star sounds like an operation Matt would be in.

Cars had never been something of interest to you.

Obviously when you saw a decent car you could stop to appreciate it, but other than that you never noticed the hype about them. Your family hadn’t brought you up with cars, none of your friends had ever been into them, and the one girl you hated throughout high school who thought she was ‘not like the other girls’ had never shut up about them.

So yeah, they never caught your interest.

It wasn’t until you had a gap year in Japan, traveling the world and meeting new people, that you finally started to notice them, admire them, and grow a passion for them after the first proper job you could find in Tokyo was working in some bar by a garage.

Listening to them, looking at them, seeing the adoration in their owners faces every time they looked at their cars, whether it was a Supra or a Civic.

That was how you met him.

Han was mysterious at first and never really opened up to you, but the more drunk nights he spent sitting in front of you while you slid him bottles of corona across the rustic bar top the more he opened up to you.

The two of you bonded and grew closer, gradually transitioning from just talking at the bar to actually going out together and spending time with one another, not that the two of you would ever admit they were dates.

You learnt all about his past, his family, despite him telling you how afraid he was you would leave him for it. But you proved him wrong, and now some two years later the two of you were still together.

“You comin’?” He called out as he carefully shut the door of the s15. ‘Mona Lisa’ as Twinkie liked to call it.

“I dunno, I just...” You trailed off as you got in beside him, also careful to shut the door knowing you would never hear the end of it if you slammed it. “I have a bad feeling about tonight.”

Han’s eyes widened and he turned in his seat to face you.

“Baby we do this like every week.” He reassured you, his voice soft. “We’ll be fine.”

“Yeah I know but like, it’s just this feeling in my stomach.” You tried to explain.

“Y/n, you’ve had a stressful month with work and everything. You’ve been worrying about everything, and this is a time for you to just let go and relax.” He placed his hand on your knee. “We’re gonna be fine. Promise.”

You swallowed and nodded, pushing down your anxiety.

Han was right, it had been a crazy stressful month for you with your job, you had been busting your ass off for a promotion, and when you finally got it you realized just how many new responsibilities you had.

Sitting passenger with Han while the two of you went drifting up some mountain or along some abandoned road somewhere was one of your favorite things to do, and of course it would relax you rather than worry you even more.

“You’re right.” You smiled, placing your hand over his. “Let’s go.”

As much as you had convinced yourself that the two of you would be fine, throughout the drive you couldn’t help but feel the anxiety creep back into the pits of your stomach.

A grin made it’s way onto your face as the two of you find a familiar road a good half hour or so from the city.

You close your eyes as Han drives, drifting perfectly, loving the feeling and just leaving your worries behind. You were also exhausted, and it was only just now hitting you as your coffee was wearing off.

You had almost thought you were about to fall asleep when Han slammed the breaks, jolting you awake.

“What the-” You began to ask but he cut you off.

“Stay in the car.”

You watched, mouth agape as he left you alone in the Silvia, walking in front of the car to a parked 350Z on the other side of the road, and your eyes widened at the familiar face who was also getting out of the car.

DK.

You watched, your heart beating faster and faster until it was almost going through your chest as the two men argued, occasionally giving the other a shove to the chest.

You watched as Han said something to DK, clearly pissing him off and turning around to walk back to you.

Your breath stopped as you watched DK pull something out of his waistband, pointing it at Han.

Panicked, you opened the car door and stormed out, ignoring the bite of the icy air as you stared down the man in front of you.

“Put the fucking gun down before I call the cops.” You said harshly, your voice cold and calm despite your erratic heart beat and breathing.

He scoffed at you, glancing up and down at your figure with an impressed grin on his face, licking his lips much to Han’s dismay.

“I control the cops princess. But nice try.”

“No, that’s your uncle DK.” You said, crossing your arms over your chest. “And last time I checked, your last meeting with him didn’t go too great.”

His face fell at that.

“So put the fucking gun down or you’re going to have a huge damn problem.”

Begrudgingly, he stuck it into his pocket, placing his hands up in mock surrender as you turned and walked back to the car, Han following silently with one last dirty look at him.

“Hey!” DK called out to the two of you as you were about to slide into the passenger seat. “Next time your girlfriend won’t be around to help!”

“Just get in the car.” You whispered to Han, answering DK with a loud door slam even though it killed you.

Han followed suit, the two of you sitting in silence until DK’s car had long disappeared.

“Don’t say it.” He said as you opened your mouth to speak.

“I told you so.”

Each episode highlights one specific monster, with it being different monsters every episode as Chuck sends worse and worse monsters their way in an attempt to kill the boys, with each case getting progressively harder and more emotionally taxing

Throughout these episodes, we get further backstory on plans to defeat Chuck. We see the boys teaming up with old friends and fellow hunters- Charlie, Bobby, Jody and Donna and the girls, Eileen, Garth, and so many others- to help them to take down the newly revived monsters, and we really get to see the Found Family dynamic and how important this family Dean and Sam have made along the way is to them and how much they love them

The show goes back to it’s roots of taking down the monsters and the good fight to save the world along with saving the little guys- while also showing the team pushing harder than ever to deal with internal tensions and stress

We see close calls, we see TFW 2.0 getting their asses handed to them on plates some episodes, and the next episode they’re destroying everything in sight. It’s a hard battle, but they keep pushing on

New monsters keep cropping up, and it feels like Chuck is going to overrun the world with monsters to wipe the world out. To clean slate the world

Little side quests happen, with the team breaking off into little groups to conquer several tasks at once. Sometimes Dean and Sam are together. Sometimes Dean with Jack and Cas with Sam. They bond, they renew their family connections, they fight even harder

The next 5 episodes focus on taking Chuck down and killing him (in this version they actually kill him because he doesn’t deserve to live period). Plans get made and fall apart, they get close several times and Chuck beats them over and over again. Every time they take a step forward, Chuck pushes them two steps back

Dean and Cas spend the beginning of the season at odds, before slowly encroaching closer and closer to the thing hovering unspoken between them

Meanwhile we see everyone researching and strategizing and they come to a final solution. If Jack and Amara team forces together, light and darkness, they can wipe Chuck out

Right before the final fight happens, Cas admits his feelings for Dean because he just can’t hold back anymore and he gets taken by the Empty. Dean is utterly heartbroken, the words I love you too on his lips just as Cas gets swallowed and taken. He vows this is not the end. He will find Cas again. We see a solid scene of Dean grieving, followed by little hints he’s not okay as the final fight gears up

In the big showdown, a massive fight happens, with both sides looking like they’re going to lose. Chuck is winning towards the end, beating them into submission until they have almost nothing left, torturing them until they almost break, when finally Jack and Amara drain both of their powers, overriding Chuck and killing him. Jack and Amara become human

The final episode starts with a montage of Dean, Sam, and Jack researching 24/7. We see several months pass in that minute long montage before finally they seem to find what they’re looking for. A way to get to the Empty. A way to save Cas

A whole scene is dedicated to Dean bursting into the Empty and grabbing Cas. Gabriel, Balthazar, and Crowley hitch a ride too. As soon as they’re back home in the Bunker, Dean kisses Cas until they’re both dizzy, whispering that he loves Cas too, of course he loves Cas too, and Cas can have this, as long as he wants it

Sam and Eileen finally get to settle down, Eileen moving into the Bunker and the both of them stepping into the roles of Alpha Hunters, teaching the next generation while also taking on some kickass cases of their own

Jack, now human, finally gets to live his life as the toddler he actually is. Everyone starts teaching Jack normal school and life things, and Jack finally gets to experience normal activities and make childhood memories while still being part of the Family Business

Sam goes down to Hell often, as Rowena is still the Queen of Hell with Crowley helping to run the place, and Sam becomes Rowena’s apprentice, learning the art of witchcraft and using it to help hunters around the country

Amara, now human, gets to live the life she wants, and sometimes even stops by to see the boys, mostly to offer a game of poker which she knows she will win

Dean and Cas finally get to be together, and they semi-retire, only taking on cases when they both get the itch to get back out there and kill something. They open up a bar in honor of Ellen, Jo, and Ash. The Roadhouse 2.0, a place for Hunters to find each other and connect, with pictures of the former 3 hung up on the wall as commemoration

Cas teams up with Gabriel and Balthazar, slowly rebuilding Heaven. New angels are created, strength is brought back to Heaven, and Cas slowly gets his powers back. There is no Higher Power. No God. Just Heaven and Hell and souls, with Rowena taking care of Hell and several Angels banding together to keep Heaven going

The final scene is the entire Found Family celebrating the holidays together, all sat around the massive table in the Bunker sharing food and laughing. They’re all finally free. Happy. Dean kisses Cas. Sam kisses Eileen. And we see Adam has been safely brought back from the Cage due to the newly strengthened Angels rescuing him. He’s finally included in the family, and gets to be happy, too. We leave the gang knowing they have their whole lives ahead of them, and together with their family, they’re happy

It wasn’t hard, really. It wasn’t hard at all to fall in love with Spencer Reid. In fact, it was the easiest thing she’d ever done. It came so easily that it shook her to the core.

Really, what’s not to love? He is a badass FBI agent with a heart of gold, he can literally recite almost any book to her on demand, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that he looks like he’s been sculpted by a coveted artist.

She didn’t know though, she didn’t know how easy it would be to be completely enamored by someone. She didn’t know what kind of life she’d be stepping into when she’d applied to become his Teaching Assistant. She’d heard from her peers that there was a part-time professor who had been looking for a TA. She signed up without a second thought, desperate for any kind of connections that could possibly help her with her PhD in forensic psychology. When she’d learned that he was a certified genius whose other job was to be a real life superhero, she hoped and prayed he’d pick her application.

She was over the moon when she found out that he did indeed pick her out of all the students who had applied. This was an opportunity of a lifetime. She’d seen his university ID photo on the website and thought he was attractive, but seeing him in person was almost magical. The camera definitely could not quite pick up on the subtle gold flecks in his irises or the silky sheen of his hair. And that smile. She was sure she could drown in it forever.

After being chosen and going through a number of interviews, Y/N learned just how meticulous Dr. Reid was in everything he did. She helped him create the syllabus as well as build his lesson plans. Over the semester, she would go over his grading since he had the tendency to give students the answers instead of making helpful comments on the papers to make them think and reflect. She’d also learned about his particular aversion to technology, which meant they had multiple meet-ups when he was in town just so she can walk him through certain systems, like the university’s portal system as well as the email. She also showed him how to pose his answers as questions instead, explaining that sometimes, he shouldn’t answer their incomplete thoughts because it's an undergrad class. Also, with his unpredictable schedule concerning the FBI, she would often step in and teach his class whenever he was away on a case.

They’d become good friends outside of his office and classroom, probably closer than they should have been. He was just too likeable and she was always eager enough to hear what he had to say, thus a bond between them was born and reinforced each time they saw each other. He was so thoughtful, it shocked her. Once he’d heard her mention that she used to love collecting keychains when she was a child, and made sure to get her a new one from each state he’d visit thanks to his trips around the country. Her previous boyfriends were beyond disappointing in comparison to say the least, and they weren’t even dating. He knew her favorite coffee order by heart and often had it ready with a fresh croissant whenever they met at the university’s coffee shop and if they were meeting at his office, he’d take them to go. 

It was little things like that that made her fall in love with him. And she knew, it’s not like she didn’t, she just chose to hide it with every cell of her being. Crushing on your professor is pretty common amongst university students, but being a TA and being desperately in love with your professor was a whole different kind of story. 

She already admired his intelligence in class immensely, however hearing his stories from his time out in the field made her heart grow three times the size of normal. His stories ranged from being about geographical profiling, to action-packed anecdotes, and even funny moments with the team.

Was she constantly impressed by him? Yes.

Was she constantly worried about him? Also yes.

Which is why she’d practically made him adopt the habit of texting or calling her every time he landed in DC. They’d been chasing this unsub, Lynch, for months on end and he’d informed her that they were finally close to getting him. The last time they talked two days ago, he was feeling confident. But then it was just silence. He hadn’t texted her, he hadn’t called her. She didn’t even know if he was back in DC. Her mind took her places she didn’t want to go. He’d gotten so good with keeping her updated that this silence was turning her blood into ice water.

She’d left 11 missed calls so far. But she didn’t give up, she was determined to hear from him. The next morning she tried again, holding her breath and squeezing her eyes shut in a silent prayer.

“Hello?” Someone finally picked up, a woman.

“Hello? Who is this? I’m trying to reach Spencer Reid.” Y/N said into the phone, voice clearly on the edge of tears.

“Oh you must be Y/N Y/L/N. You’re Spencer’s TA. I’m Penelope Garcia, I work with Spencer.” She said into the phone evenly, calmly.

“Yes, I am. Did something happen to Spencer? He hasn’t contacted me in two days. Why do you have his phone?” Y/N worried into the phone. She could hear every heartbeat, loud and clear.

“Spencer is in the hospital. There was an explosion yesterday and he hit his head really hard. We found him passed out in his apartment this morning.” Penelope answered. Y/N’s eyes widened and she felt the tears slip from her eyes quickly. The panic began to set in.

“C-could you please text me the address?” Y/N managed to whisper into the phone through her tears.

“Of course, sweetie. He’s going to be okay. His mother is here, I’m assuming you know about Diana?” She asked tenderly.

“Yes, yes, I know. I’ll be there as soon as I can.” Y/N said, already rushing to put on shoes and looking for her keys.

The drive to the hospital wasn’t long, but Y/N felt like it took ages to get there anyway. Her breathing was uneven and her eyes were already swollen as if she’d been crying for days. There was a bad, bad feeling reverberating around in her chest. She’d somehow floated through the hospital like she was running on autopilot. 

She’d found the room and met eyes with a blonde woman adorning two identical blue puffs in her hair. She would have thought they were adorable if she wasn’t panicking her heart out. She spotted Spencer laying on the hospital bed with oxygen tubes hanging around his ears and inserted into his nose. The sight made her stomach lurch. Something about the way his usually pink lips were drained of their color made her want to sob until tomorrow came. Beside the bed on the other side sat Diana Reid, a tall woman with short blonde hair. She’d seen her in photos before. Diana merely stared at her with a hint of a smile.

She stepped in the hospital room, swallowing down the bile in her throat, “H-Hi, I’m Y/N.” She waved tentatively into the room, almost unable to keep with the tensity of the two women’s gazes. She wiped at her eyes and stood at the foot of Spencer’s bed, “Is he going to be okay?” She asked, staring at the steady rise and fall of Spencer’s chest. That way it was reassuring to watch him. She could hear her heartbeat in her ears as she stood.

“The doctors are hopeful.” Penelope replied, assessing the young woman who just entered. She was much younger than she previously thought she was. Although she had no idea what to expect when it came to Spencer’s academic life, he was always surprising her.

Diana sat still and silent in the hospital chair, a pensive expression draped across her features. Penelope sensed a tension in the room and looked towards Diana, “Hey, Diana, would you like to come with me down to the cafeteria to fetch some jello for Spencer to eat when he wakes up?”

Y/N sent Penelope a sidelong glance filled with gratitude. She tuned out the sounds of Diana telling Penelope the story of the first time Spencer had jello as they exited the small room. She immediately pulled up the chair closest to his bed and grasped his hand tightly. She let out a shaky breath at the contact. Cold, his hand was so, so cold.

“Oh, Spencer, you scared the shit out of me.” She whispered, pressing her lips to the back of his hand quickly, “I could have lost you today...and-and I wouldn’t have known what to do with myself if that would have happened. I know you probably can’t hear me, but I still have to say what I’m going to say. I have to. For myself. So here goes,” she pauses, taking a deep breath, “there’s nothing that scares me more than losing you, and that thought alone terrifies me.” She sniffled, wiping away her tears, “What I feel for you terrifies me, Spencer. I didn’t know I was capable of loving someone so deeply until I met you. And...I don’t know what to do with all this love, I want to hand it all to you, let you see yourself the way I see you, but I can’t do that. I can’t.” She held back an incoming sob, whispering, “I can’t ask that of you.” 

She bowed her head and rested it along his forearm, her silent tears soaking through the hospital sheets. The fear of grieving for him outweighed the fear of rejection. She’d never forgive herself if he died without knowing how big of a space he occupied in her heart. She didn’t know if she was brave enough to tell him to his face while he was awake, but this was a start. Solidifying her feelings was a start. And man, were they solid.

A few minutes later, her phone began to ring because of an endless stream of emails. There was a class today, and she’d have to teach it. She went back and forth from her phone to Spencer’s face and released a deep, heavy sigh from the pit of her chest. She stood from her seat and hovered her hand over his cheek before allowing it to rest timidly on his skin.

“I have to go, but I’ll see you soon.” She paused, chewing on her lip, “I love you.” She said softly, fresh tears making their way back to the brim of her eyes. She pulled away from him and exited the room swiftly. 

Spencer’s bleary eyes opened slightly to just barely catch the sight of her disappearing into the hallway from which she came. Seconds later, Penelope and his mother came marching in, seeing his open eyes.

Penelope set down the cups of jello nearby and Diana made her way to her son quickly. He could barely keep his eyes open for long enough. It was a small achievement but they both held onto it dearly. 

Hours later, he blinked his eyes open again as he heard his mother and Penelope conversing about his favorite type of cloud. Diana leaned over her son’s bed and set a comforting hand on his shoulder. He stared at her fondly.

“Am I alive or is this heaven?” He asked, smiling slightly.

“You are very much alive.” Diana smiled broadly at him.

Garcia had since gone back to the office to assist the team in finally closing the Lynch case. Spencer was just waking up from yet another snooze. 

Diana looked at him closely, sometimes he felt she was the profiler in the room, “She told you didn’t she?”

Spencer rubbed at his eyes slightly, “Who are you talking about?” He yawned.

“The pretty girl who was in here earlier.” Y/N’s name had slipped her mind the second she said it. Spencer stared at his mother incredulously, shocked at just how clear her mind was at the moment. Diana took his silence as an affirmative and nodded at him.

“You should tell her.” She said definitively. For a moment, he doubted if he understood just what she meant, but he understood.

“How did you know?” Spencer asked curiously.

“I told you, a mother always knows. And I saw the way she looked at you. She deserves to know, Spencer.” Diana said.

She deserves to know.

The thought tumbled around in his head for days after he was discharged from the hospital. He was on medical leave for the moment but as soon as he could see straight, he took the train to her apartment. He’d been there a few times, they’d had a few casual dinners there while grading papers together or coming up with future lesson plans. His hands were on the verge of trembling as he knocked on her apartment door. The numbers nailed on the door mocked him as he stood waiting for her to open.

She frowned at the sound, she wasn’t expecting anybody. She pushed her laptop to the side and stood to straighten her pajamas, making her way to the door. She ripped it open as soon as she saw who it was.

“Spencer! Oh thank goodness you’re okay! I’ve been worried sick about you.” She threw her arms around his middle tightly, making him stagger a bit from the impact, but he enveloped her in his arms anyway. The contact was very welcome.

“Hey.” He smiled into the hug, his heart spilling with gratitude over being worthy enough of her attention. They separated from the embrace and she stared at him with a look resembling wonder.

“What are you doing here? I thought you still had a few more days off until you had to get back to work. Come in, come in.” She moved aside to let him in. She also moved a plethora of blankets and textbooks off the couch to make space for him to sit.

“I know, I’m sorry for kind of coming over unannounced. I didn’t mean to intrude or anything.” He eyed her matching set of cartoon character pajamas as he took a seat, making a mental note that it was the most adorable thing he’s ever seen. She blushed under his gaze but shook her head nonetheless.

“Oh come on, you know you’re always welcome here. Can I get you something to drink? Some water or coffee, maybe?” She asked.

“Water’s fine.” He smiled, leaning back into the couch. She nodded and made her way into the kitchen. Spencer’s shoulders untensed for a moment and he hadn’t realized that he’d been carrying so much of his worries in them around her. She came back with the water and took a seat next to him, angling her body to face him. He muttered a thank you as he sipped from it, unsure how to approach the situation.

“I wanted to thank you. For coming to the hospital to see me. That meant a lot.” He met her eyes and saw a flash of panic dance across her irises. How did he know she was there? Penelope probably told him, right? He couldn’t have heard her.

“Of course, Spencer. It’s the least I could do.” She smiled sweetly. His heart cleaved in his chest as he stared at the sweet girl in front of him. 

What did he ever do to deserve her friendship? 

He fidgeted with the glass in his hands, a silence beginning to drape over them.

“Is everything okay?” She asked, noticing his fidgeting. 

He took a deep breath and set the glass down on the coffee table in front of them. He turned his body to face her and reached for her soft hands. Her breath hitched at the intimate contact, butterflies erupting in the pit of her abdomen.

“You are a remarkable person, Y/N. I’m so lucky to have you in my life. I see the absolute worst that humanity has to offer on a daily basis, but you have made it your mission to make my life easier. And you do, honestly, I wouldn’t know what to do without you.” He said with soft eyes and a half-laugh. She smiled back, she could practically feel the rush from his words directly in her brain.

“And it is an honor to be loved by you,” his voice hesitated to say the word, his eyes darkening with regret as he continued. Realization snapped into place for her as he said, “but I can’t give you what you need.”

He had heard her. He knew.

Her blood ran cold as she tore her hands away from his, as if the skin on his hands had the ability to burn her. He frowned as he watched her frantic eyes search his for any semblance of dishonesty. Her throat closed up over all the words that fought to surface. She opened her mouth to say something but nothing came up. Instead, tears sprung to the corners of her eyes.

“What?” She whispered, brokenhearted and momentarily in disbelief.

“I’m sorry, Y/N.” He tried to console her but she was past the point of consolation. 

“I-I understand.” She nodded painfully, tears cascading down her face before she even got the chance to wipe them away, “It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have said anything, it’s completely unprofessional.” She swallowed an incoming sob as best as she could.

“No, I’m glad you told me, but if I’m being honest, I knew long before it. This isn’t about professionality, I don’t care about that. But I care about you, a lot.” Spencer said softly, staring at the young woman in front of him. She shook her head, utterly devastated and doing her best to shield herself from his gaze. Thoughts escaped her as her heart took a deep-dive to settle in her abdomen.

“And I thought I should let you know how I feel. I love you, Y/N,” he paused, “just not in that way.” The soft voice he used was completely useless against the harshness of the words. 

She tried, she tried her absolute hardest to suppress the incoming sob, but those words just about broke the dam. She rubbed at her eyes, nodding. He tried to set a comforting hand on her shoulder but decided against it. She took a deep breath and stood up from the couch. 

That was enough humiliation for the day.

“No, no, I completely understand.” She said, voice wobbly and eyes ringed with red. He frowned up at her at the sight of her being so upset. 

“Will you be okay?” He asked as he stood up from his seat. She laughed slightly, this man had devastated her, broken her heart with a few simple words and still wondered if she’d be okay. That’s Spencer Reid for you. The question made her heart ache and long for him more. His simplicity and good intentions made her question why the world wasn’t kind enough to let her have him.

“No, I won’t. And I probably won’t be okay for a long time. Because I will keep meeting men and keep comparing them to you so, until I stop doing that, no, I won’t be okay, Spencer.” She answered with a surprisingly stable voice. He frowned and nodded.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered, stepping forward to cup her cheek and gently use his thumb to wipe the remainder of her tears. Her glassy eyes bored right into his, her lips wobbling at the contact. She then closed her eyes and leaned her cheek into his palm, soaking in his warmth one last time before he tore himself away from her completely and showed himself out of the apartment without looking back.

That was when she allowed herself to fall apart. He heard her heart wrenching cries from behind the door and hesitated, but decided to walk away anyway with a chest heavy with regret.

She will never be enough for him, she thought.

Here she is.. My masterpost of all the dumb, illogical bits of info contained within these s15 “leaks” that make me fairly confident they are complete bullshit. It also includes my little tinhat theories that have absolutely no evidence.

I will be putting it all under a Readmore in case you don't want to risk it or if you simply Do Not Care

First up, I'd like to point out that these call sheets repeatedly give very detailed backstories to characters that have few lines which conveniently paints a picture of each episode's plot. And I'm not an expert so correct me if I'm wrong, but after looking at other similar casting calls, they only ever include the demographic and necessary skills.

Basically who in their right mind would write up casting calls that give away so many spoilers? Seems like that could cause and issue if they were leaked lol. But anyway that's my 1st point. But onto the actual content

So the conceit of this episode as a whole is that during the pandemic, the gang "gamed the system" and received three (3!) Loans to start businesses that went bankrupt. One of these businesses is implied to be the one started by dee and charlie who end up selling to Qanon shaman. Already this is so impossible baby.

1. We've already seen the gang try to get a loan and it didn't work. They don't have good ideas. Ur telling me, they managed to finagle 3 separate loans for 3 separate business ideas from an actual bank?

2. Maybe I just have bad reading comprehension but how does one have a business that is both fictitious and bankrupt?

3. If the customer is supposed to be Qanon shaman, an actual real life guy, why are the only descriptors white and male? They say he's shirtless so are they going to paint on all of the tattoos he has? And if so, doesn't that kind of ruin the dramatic reveal when charlie "throws in" the viking helmet? Why would he do that anyways? Sus.

Moving on

Alright this episode would fucking blow for obvious reasons but im going to refrain from looking at this through my gay dennis thruther lens because im biased.

Purely from a narrative standpoint, a woman hasn't been shown to be interested in dennis in nearly 5 years during the wade boggs episode. Ever since, every single woman he approaches has been actively creeped out by him. And now I'm supposed to believe that 3 "smart, passionate woman" (In Their Twenties!!!!!!) agreed to go on a date with him? And Anna even slept with him! Just because he what? Agreed with her? I'm not buyin it.

Plus the concept of this scenario lacks any potential for comedy. When iasip gets political, they always discuss a very specific topic using hyperbolic situations and flawed metaphors. If this is supposed to be a political episode, what ultimately lukewarm point would rob be trying to make here? So far we know they're ranting about

How on earth would an episode like get approved? This shit sounds like a Ted talk. It sounds like it was written specifically to sound like a political episode so boring and pointless it would generate outrage and mile long essay posts from Tumblr users and reddit users alike. Almost like this one lol.

On a completely unrelated note, do not try and convince me that Frank "casual cock ring wearer" Reynolds is unable to perform.

Ok now we're starting to getting into the Ireland of it all. Let me go on a bit of a tangent here about all this.. Now I thinq there are just 3 possibilities. Either this is all a publicity stunt and there is some truth to the Ireland rumors, the entire thing could be bogus from some weirdo fan (ps, if a fan did write this I want you to know I fucking hate you. You did this to me), or it is a publicity stunt but Ireland is just more bullshit.

I am going to assume it was a publicity stunt, otherwise I just wasted my entire evening and I can't have that kind of mentality rn. Additionally, I'm Going to tinhat here for a second and say that the Ireland rumors are true, but the details are different.

I say this because if they were going to do filming in Ireland, they probably figured that that information would be impossible to hide. In essence, my completely unfounded hypothesis is that this leak was their fucked up little way of controlling the situation while simultaneously messing with us.

Ok tangent is over, returning to the casting calls. From the looks of it, dee starts a "scam" acting class and has some very devoted students (Note that Tony was also the name of the porn shop owner. Seems weird!) Presumably after the gang replaces her with a monkey as the title suggests.

Honestly, there isn't too much here that's a red flag to me... seems like a nice little dee-centric episode that is the link to the Dublin angle. Assuming I am At All right, this could be a genuine plotline for Dee. However, the monkey could be a red herring and there could be a whole different side plot with the guys. who's to say. Next one!

Ah yes this is the dennis we all know and despise.. no red flags for me here really, I'm also running out of steam because idk if it shows, but I am majorly sleep deprived atm. Anyway I'm going to the next one

Okay this is where things start getting weird again ough a migraine just hit, anyway back to my earlier point about how casting calls would never contains major spoilers bc the people who see these wont be under any kind of NDA..

These ones reveal that bonnie dies. Again, that info wouldn't be in a casting call.

But also they suggest charlie has a irish penpal named Shelley who is his biological father. First off charlie is illiterate, although as pointed out by @undeadbreeze shelley could also be communicating in symbols. However, this scenario is still unbelievable to me for a couple reasons:

1. Bonnie's last name is Kelly obviously, and we know it's her maiden name because Jack's last name is also Kelly. But Shelley's last name is... also Kelly? In the context of this big ol hoax, it feels like it was written to show that look! his last name is the same as charlie's! That's how you know that's his dad! But It would be way too big of a coincidence if charlie's dad happened to have the same last name bonnie.

And 2. There's the whole mystery of charlie's long-lost sister from 'charlie got molested' but never any mention of a brother which according to this, shelley has been pretending to be his brother for years. And we all know how much rcg loves their continuity, it seems uncharacteristically lazy to just tack this on without any prior buildup.

And finally let me talk about mac for a second and specifically the line in gus's summary "both are gay men who are attracted to the priesthood for all the wrong reasons"

Iasip has commented on pedophilia in the priesthood many times in the past which leads me to believe that they are implying that mac is a pedophile? Please let me know if I completely misread the implications of that statement, but if not, then that is completely insane and one of the biggest indictators that this is fake. Mac is awful, just like everyone in the gang but he is definitely not a pedophile.

However even if i did completely misread that, it's still proof this is fake.. For all his faults, Rob put a surprising amount of care and effort into mac's coming-out. It hasn't been perfect, but Mfhp in particular firmly established that mac's faith is integral to his identity so Its unlikely that rob would throw all of that away for a cheap shot at priests.

Ok my brain is irradiated sludge at this point, but in conclusion. I hope that 1. I'm right, at least about it being fake (Otherwise damb that'll be so humiliating for me) And 2. This eases ur fears a bit. I don't want to lose all faith in future seasons bc I love iasip and miss the gang. You’re like my “fandom veteran” :) and I wanted to ask you something:

I’m sure, there was a looot of speculation about Cas’ empty deal while it was hanging over there, but I couldn’t really find specific speculations…

So, do you feel like writing a bit about what the theories were, how you thought that the deal was going to be triggered, (if at all?) and general thoughts?

As I was watching, (binge-watching without much knowledge on the history, BUT knowing that “Destiel was gonna be canon”) I thought that they might trigger the deal by Dean confessing his love or something, but then I thought, they couldn’t be that evil, right??

Also, I thought that there would be a lot of fics with that idea, but I couldn’t find a single one! Are the fic writers just not that evil (to Dean :)) or is this not an idea that was widely spread?

LOL! Hi, and thanks! I've spent the last few hours going through my tag for the episode, and honestly immediate post episode reaction (from my liveblogging notes) was that this could be leading to endgame human!Cas, because having made the deal with the Empty for JACK'S life

i.e., his CHILD, the same way so many people in SPN have sacrificed themselves for their child over the years, starting with John in 2.01 and Dean in 2.22 (because yeah that was the parallel, him carrying on John's Mission assigned to him to Save Sammy), as opposed to for DEAN

it was handing agency over his destiny back to Cas, which could eventually make the choice of relinquishing his grace to become human something tied to true personal choice, and not tied to "because he wanted a ~human~ relationship with Dean"

This was hinted at several times in surrounding episodes, as well, where Cas didn't hesitate to offer his own grace to save Jack's life-- literally in the previous episode 14.07:

Rowena: It's as I suspected. A Nephilim, for all its power, is an unnatural presence. Part human, part angel. It doesn't quite fit. It's delicate. Its grace is what holds it in balance, and when Jack's grace was taken from him, his being fell into chaos. The -- the cells are gobbling each other up. Castiel: Well, if it's grace he needs, he can have mine. Rowena: No, dear, it won't do. Jack is part archangel. He needs a much stronger force and probably some kind of magic, and he needs it quick.

No hesitation AT ALL to give up his grace here if it meant Jack would live. So we were already primed to see his deal in the very next episode being directly tied to that urge. Not to mention Amara's s15 arc as a parallel, of her urging Chuck to actually observe and learn to appreciate his own creation on its level, rather than his constant attempt to control it and force it to his will.

(which, in the end, her being resigned to let Chuck effectively absorb her into his own power, overriding her own love and appreciation for creation in favor of bending to his will three episodes before the series finale only ADDED to my personal feeling that yes, Cas's choice would come down to "his happiness is tied to his own humanity, rejecting his grace as a symbol of Chuck's will, since it had been used to control him since he was created with it for the singular purpose of being an instrument of Chuck's will in the world.")

At the time 14.08 aired, I know loads of us thought at least PART of that happiness would be tied to Dean, but I personally had hoped that it would be about CAS first and foremost. I didn't want his ultimate sacrifice and the choice of humanity to only be motivated by his love for Dean, you know? Dean didn't need that feeling of guilt for Cas choosing humanity *only because of him* and it's felt for YEARS to me that Cas had been slowly learning and understanding that he *would want humanity* for himself at the end of the series.

So that's how I *personally* saw it, and what I *personally* hoped would come of it in the end, but yes... loads of folks thought the true happiness could only be a love confession of some sort for Dean or from Dean. When Dean's confession in 15.09 happened, and Cas stopped him from saying anything else, it was like a hammer between the eyes that holy shit, Dean was about to confess love and that likely would've triggered the Empty deal, and *that was literally the only reason Cas could've had for stopping Dean from saying anything else at that moment.*

It was... mindblowing, honestly, and yet still fit in with everything else I said up there ^^, but if we were supposedly getting a "happy-ish" at least ending of the series, it meant at the very least Cas would need to survive the series IN SOME WAY. It was terrifying to hope for, and thinking back to it from post-finale, also HORRIFYING in retrospect, since we did not get that ending...

Because if the end of 14.08, with the four of them sitting around the kitchen table with burgers (and even Cas had one!) it felt like if this wasn't the setup for this being a happy family engaged in happy human family wasn't enough to trigger Cas's deal on the spot, then *there was still something missing from what Cas would consider "letting himself be truly happy."*

What could that missing element be? This was a HUGE win! He'd saved his child! He had secured his place in the family with Sam and Dean, too (which he would desperately struggle to maintain, leading to the troubles by the end of s14, and his falling out with Dean in early s15... but all of that was precipitated by Chuck's manipulations... blah blah blah... Cas rejecting "fate" and Chuck's will while Dean had a crisis of questioning whether he'd ever made any of his own choices at all... they were very clearly setting their relationship up as one of the core elements of their character arcs for s15-- and what they would CHOOSE for themselves. But as long as Cas's deal with the Empty hung over them, he couldn't make that choice. Tying all of Cas's character arc to that Moment of Choice when the deal was triggered.

I still never thought they would make it *about his love for Dean,* at least not in plain text on the surface level. I assumed they'd leave that part of it in the subtext after doing so much work in s15 to put it there, and ultimately make it about Cas's choice to choose a happiness that would automatically render his deal null, sacrificing his grace in fulfillment of the deal while remaining alive, human, and happy on earth... lol what the hell did I know.

The Empty had been a DEPRESSION METAPHOR for Cas, though. So making the deal about him choosing HIMSELF, and his own HAPPINESS over this "destiny" to be eternally depressed, seemed to be where the show was heading. All that remained would be for him to do the work of accepting "I am worthy as myself" and the choices tied to that.

at this point I'm basically linking half my tag here lol... but yeah, at the time this episode aired, we largely were looking at this through the lens of what it would mean for Cas as a character first, and what it would mean for his relationship with Dean second. But we were also not expecting the show to just ~not bring it up at all~ for the most part until the very end of the series. We were also deeply traumatized by the previous decade of canon, and while we all recognized the destiel of it all, and while we avidly pointed it out at every opportunity and discussed what it would mean regardless of how explicitly it was portrayed in canon versus being heavily implied in the subtext, etc., we didn't realistically expect textual canon confirmation of romantic love between Dean and Cas, you know? So in meta, we were optimistic, hopeful, but also realistic knowing how canon was.

Dabb: Ultimately, we came up with something that we're all very proud of Singer: You never know what the audience is going to like so we really tried to say "what would make us happy? Would we be satisfied with where we've taken them?"

The Carry On song was a guideline.

Singer: The myth of what these brothers were throughout 15 years... We didn't shy away from fatalism, but we wanted to be able to have it be kinda uplifting as well.

Dabb: If you're going to do something that feels like a complete arc, you have to kinda go back to the beginning of it (clips of them hunting vamps from s1 & 15.20) When it comes to Sam & Dean- it's all about getting back to, in some ways, these two guys on the road in this car.

Dabb: They've been doing this job for 15 years now. They've fought everyone from demons to vampires to God himself, but at the end of the day, they're still working guys, out there on the road & taking cases. We've tried to never lose sight of that.

Dabb: There are times when we've been wrapped up in our own mythology a little bit. We've always tried to get back to the basics, which are: these two guys, saving people, hunting things. 

Eugenie: I think we sort of knew generally what the ending would involve.

Eugenie: We might not have known the mechanics, but we sort of knew there would be a victorious, glorious sacrificial ending bc I think sacrifice is a big theme in the series.

For every great thing you do, a cost must be paid.

Singer: Andrew & I talked about it. We were in agreement pretty quickly... talked to the rest of the writing staff & let them know what we wanted to do and we were open to suggestions. And then we pretty much pitched it to Jared and Jensen.

Jensen talks about flying to LA. Jensen: So before we ever even started 15, we knew how the last portion of the story was going to go. We didn't know how we were going to get there, but we kinda knew the final- the finish line- we knew what... what that was going to look like.

Jared: I don't think there's ever been a season of SPN in 15 years where the way the writers thought the show would play out for that season- ended up being the way it played out And so we were aware of that. They told us here's what we're thinking, here's what happens to Castiel

Jared: In the finale, Dean dies & Sam lives on. And then we think they're going to meet up in heaven. 

I remember Jensen... just because I know him so well- he seemed to bristle a little bit.

Jensen: It was hard to hear then & it was hard to read now. Not because I didn't like it, not because I wished it had gone differently... I'm not adverse to it. I think it's a great ending. I'm proud to film it.

Singer: And we just aimed for that, you know, throughout the season. We knew where we were going.

Jensen: Reading it & knowing that... there's just a weight that is so much larger reading these scripts than I've ever experienced before. 

There's an emotional weight that these scripts are going to carry & these episodes are going to have that I don't think we've ever seen before.

Brad: [J2] were so young when all of this started. They brought to it such conviction & such commitment to the effort. 

That's one of the things that kept the show going for so many years... a show that was designed for very young guys, footloose & fancy free, & on the road…

Brad: To see these guys grow up b4 your eyes into- men, not boys any longer- was amazing. 

BABY Jared: Though the story does involve Sam & Dean chasing supernatural things, it really is a story about two brothers that love each other & ultimately will do anything for each other.

Jensen: There's really one person that gets it on the level that I get it, and that's Jared. Jared: I've never spent as much time with another human being as I have with Jensen Ackles. He will be my friend and brother forever. And I know that.

BABY Jensen: There's a lot of dynamics between the two brothers, there's a lot of history between them, there's a lot of banter between them... it's good stuff S15 Jensen: We had a partner in crime & we leaned on each other for, you know, for times when it was tough.

Jensen: But we also won together. We got to share the experience of success & the experience of getting picked up for another season. Watching these two characters go through what they're going through, when we're working 14 hours & it's 2-3 o’clock on a Sat morning and we're just now finishing filming out in the rain and mud and we gotta race to the airport to get on a plane because we've got a photoshoot in LA & we've gotta do on camera interviews and we gotta promote the show that we love so much that we were just in the mud & the rain filming hours before we're exhausted and it's like there's only one person that gets that right now. That gets how I feel and that's this guy standing next to me. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool to have somebody like that.

Brad: We knew it was going to be impossible to tie up every aspect of all of the cans of worms that we opened up. 

We did want to bring a proper ending to the guys, the guy's relationship.

Brad: Then of course we had this huge corner we painted ourselves into with the most powerful thing in the universe being the big bad of the season. We try and find a proper send off for Jack & for Cas. What to do w/ the boys & is that a together farewell or an individual?

It was just... lots of moving parts. 

Dabb: I give a lot of credit to Bobo who really was the one who started banging the drum early & often to ending the mythology in 19 and end the characters in 20.

Brad: You're battling God & battling God & you have this epic situation going on through the first 3/4 of the show & then what? You send off Dean in act 4? That just felt wrong. Eugenie: We had this obligation, it was really mandatory, that we tie up the mythic narrative and leave the final episode for the emotional resolution. I [was] more on the side of not wanting to best God. To have God change to be more like his creations. So there were philosophical arguments, but we always knew God's resolution was going to be a big ticket item.

Jensen: We'd started day 1 of the 2nd to last episode, 19. We were 1 day down on that episode & we were just about to start our 2nd day & we got the call that morning that we were not going to be coming in that day.

Jensen: So we figured ok, we'll figure out protocol, figure out what we need to do, & we'll just regroup, come back on Monday. As that day progressed, it was like- this looks like more of an apocalypse that is ascending upon us than just a bad cold.

They pulled the plug & they said everybody go home. 

Singer: Fortunately, we got assurance from both the studio & the network that one way or another we were gonna finish the series. That was comforting to us, but we didn't know when we were going to go back.

Eugenie: We didn't know what we were going back to... if this was the last time we would ever see the set. There was no plan. It was just get out of dodge. Dabb: When it first happened, we thought it would be a couple of weeks, maybe a month.

I had conversations w/WB where they expected everyone to be back shooting in June & then things got worse & pushed & pushed.

Eugenie: Slowly as we settled into that 4 or 5 month period, discussions were going on w/the studio, & the networks, & the actors. We knew there would be restrictions on what we were allowed to shoot, but finally, the mechanics were figured out. 

Singer: So they were ready to go pretty quickly, shooting in Van, where covid wasn't quite as virulent as it was [in LA].

Dabb: We were one of the first shows, one of the first WB shows to start back up. So in a way, we were kinda a guinea pig. But, in being that, I think everyone took it really seriously. We had 0 positive tests. Crew members weren't going out on the weekends.

They were like look, if I get sick, it hurts the whole show. That speaks to the family culture up there, where we've had so much of our crew for so long. Where J2 & Singer provide such great leadership.

Singer: When I was in prep for 20, I was basically in the office but couldn't go to the set. It was very odd for me not to be able to go to the set while I was in prep. 

Everybody just hung in there & did what they were supposed to do.

Brad: Then we were faced with the dilemma of having to rewrite a lot of the stuff bc of the pandemic bc of the limitations that we knew were going to come on the production.

Jensen: We were gearing up for, not only the end of that season, but the end of the series. There was a lot of big, big things written-packed- into those last two scripts.

Jared: At first, it was supposed to be a lot of our old cast from prior seasons in a Roadhouse with Kansas.

Everybody had already agreed. Kansas was going to be in Van. We were going to have dad there & mom there. Just probably 20 or 30 different actors & actresses who had been a part of the SPN's canon over the last 15 & a half years.

Jensen: It was scheduled to be the last day that we were going to film, so it was almost like rolling right into a nice wrap party on camera. 

Brad: The idea of flying a boatload of ppl up there to quarantine for 2 weeks so they could shoot for a day was making less & less sense.

Eugenie: How do we make this work? And while you're doing that, you also don't want to sacrifice the heart and soul of the project. 

So we came up with a reduced, much more intimate ending. It has been replaced by something equally magical & rewarding.

Singer: I felt an enormous responsibility in directing the finale of a show that's been on for 15 years. Andrew, when he saw the cut, he said some really nice things to me as to, you know, the way I handled the material.

Jensen: The scenes that were filmed on our last day on the sound stages were filled with the most emotion of the final episode. 

Singer: One of the really hard things was we're on another stage that wasn't the MoL stage & they started wrecking the MoL sets

They'd been working on this set and been apart of this- this family for just as long if not longer than the set's been around. I was like "it's really sad seeing this get taken down" and the other guy said, "I'm trying to hold back tears while I'm swinging this hammer."

Jared: As we start saying goodbye to characters, to locations, like it just seems like every day you would wake up and there would be some reason to cry. 

Misha: This is a show ultimately about love, & empathy, & caring, & I think that Castiel embodies that.

Misha: Half the crew was crying. It was really such a sweet, supporting environment to be in for the demise of a character that, of course, for me is really important. 

But it was so lovely to see that, you know, the folks that I'm- I'm working with were also there for Cas at that moment. 

Alex: To get to work with these caliber people & see your friends every day is really special & is not something that often happens in this business for this long. It's been definitely a topsy turvy last couple weeks here with us and the crew. 

Jared: Friday of the final full week was the big scene in the barn with the vampires where Dean suffers his fate. They did the first two days with the entire stunt team & the young boy actors. 

And then they cut it for Thursday night and they're like, okay, Friday, tomorrow, we’re starting the dialogue. Dean, you're on the post. Sam, you just cut off the last vampire's head.

That was the scene- that was where Supernatural was really encapsulated. 

Jensen: And then the next week we kind of had this- on the road encore get together filmmaking scenario that felt more like we made it & it was more pats on the back as opposed to tearful goodbyes. 

Dabb: In a weird way you can look at the 15 seasons is like Sam & Dean's emotional evolution. You know instead of therapy, they kill vampires, but other than that it's kind of the same & brings them both to a very good place. And a place where they can, as the song says, you know, lay their weary head to rest. 

This felt like the most honest & emotionally fulfilling episode for these characters to us. Jared: I got thinking about how Supernatural started & how the majority of times how I thought it should end. It started with Sam & Dean Winchester. I think it's proper that it ended with Sam & Dean Winchester together again. 

Jensen: When the cameras stop rolling & Bob yelled, “Cut!” and Bob yelled, “That’s a series wrap on Supernatural.” There was- a there was a loud cheer that echoed through that canyon we were filming in. I will- I will happily say that there were hugs that happened and that needed to happen. Those are people that I spent not just years with, but so much time with- it's like brothers in arms and so to put it to bed the way that we did felt really good and then felt good to hug some people, I'll tell you that much. Singer: I thanked everyone, but I wanted to really thank people who had been with us from the beginning and as I looked around, there were so many people who had been there from the beginning.

We really were a family. I always say about this show is one of the reasons that it was a success and is that it was not only about the Winchester family, but it was about the Supernatural family. 

Jared: So now that's all said and done, I guess I can look back at it and just be proud that I helped this show carry on and I'm really proud of the blood, sweat, and tears that I put in, and I feel like- I feel like that sacrifice was also maybe one of the things I learned from Sam, you know? Sam had to sacrifice a lot. So, I'm honored and flattered and grateful that I got to be a part of that journey.

Dabb: You're never going to have another show like this. You're never gonna have another experience like this. For a lot of different reasons, from how long it ran, from the family that the show became, from the amazing fans that we have. [Footage of us] From the emotional investment people can put in over 15 years of their lives. 

Some started watching this when they were in high school, when they were 15, they're 30 now, they might have kids. That's their- that's like half their life. They've been with this show. You're not gonna have that again. Shows just aren’t gonna run this long, especially genre shows, but I don't know that I'm ever gonna do anything else in my career that I'm gonna be more proud of than having been involved in this show. 

Jared: The things that stick out are just how important it is to keep putting one foot in front of the other. And keep on working and wake up every day and treat it like it could be your last and- and if you make it out the other side, you'll be happy and proud of what you did. 

Jensen: The crew had packed up, they had cleared the bridge, and they were all starting to, you know, load their trucks and get moving. And Jared and I just kind of hung back, and we just took a moment. I looked at him and I said, “I’m proud of us, man. I'm proud of what we've done.”

We know that that's the collective we, that is everyone that is involved, that is- you know from the top down. You know, for our portion, for what we contributed to this monster of the show, he and I reflected on that, and still able to see and smell the roses.

The change is abrupt.

Right after the last of Cas’s grace burns out, he strips off his old clothes, toes out of his shoes, and walks stark naked out into the rain, eyes closed but turned to the heavens, arms outspread. It’s baptism. It’s absolution.

Sam goes inside to get him a towel, but Dean can only stand frozen and watch the Angel Castiel wash away into the earth, and Cas the human be reborn.

Now that Cas is human, he doesn’t wear his trench coat anymore. It’s a struggle to get him in shoes, let alone a suit and tie. He’s always padding around the bunker in (very distracting) low slung sweats and Dean’s ratty old shirts and bare feet, and Dean has to tear his eyes away from the sharp lines of his hipbones peeking out from his waistband.

When it gets chilly, he adds a chunky sweater on top, a couple of sizes too big, sleeves long enough he can use them as a sort of potholder for the steaming mugs of coffee he drinks just shy of boiling. He works at the cuffs until there are thumbholes, which delight him. He switches to old jeans, old enough that the denim has gone faded and soft, and thick woolen socks that match his sweaters, for when he crunches outside with Jack over a thin layer of frost. They spend a lot of time out there together, long walks through the woods surrounding the bunker and packed lunches. And they come back in, noses and cheeks red from the cold, grinning like mad about an interesting rock Jack found, or a perfectly preserved set of tracks, or a bird call they heard echoing through the trees. It’s the little things. The tiniest things Dean hasn’t thought about for decades, maybe ever.

That first winter, they do Christmas. Dean says it’s for the kid, but it’s for all of them, really. A celebration of surviving, of living beyond.

It’s a big deal, too. Everyone comes out. When they’re all together, Dean realizes their network is big. Bigger than he ever thought, spreading out over the years, the roots of a great tree. There’s him and Cas and Jack, of course. Sam and Eileen.

But then there’s Jody and Donna and the girls. Krissy, too, who becomes fast friends with Alex. They spend the tree-decorating tossing unstrung popcorn at the back of Dean’s head. Claire and Jack get along like a house on fire, it turns out.

Garth and Bess and all their kids. Claire catches a shot of Cas with little Castiel in his lap, both of them with their heads tilted, regarding each other earnestly with wide blue eyes. (Dean gets that one framed.)

Then there’s everyone who was shaken loose at the end. From upstairs, from downstairs, from just next door. Bobby and Rufus and Missouri. Charlie and Kevin and Linda. Max and Alicia. Ellen, Jo, and Ash. Benny. It turns out Benny, Charlie, and Jo are inseparable, for some reason. Dean can’t quite make sense of that one, but he grins himself stupid at the three of them chatting away in a corner of the library.

It’s better than he could ever have hoped. The bunker is full of life, finally, after so many years. Long unused bedrooms are dusted off and cleared out. They set up a huge tree in the map room that stretches up nearly to the top of the stairs. They do cocoa and gingerbread houses and they pile into cars to see the Christmas lights on main street. They decide to do movie night, but there’s no way they can all fit in the Dean Cave, so Charlie sets up a projector outside and they bundle up. (Cas smiles a little sadly at Clarence the angel.)

They can’t all stay forever, but they promise to come back. For birthdays and holidays and just when they feel like making the drive. And before people start peeling off, they take a family photo.

It’s Jack’s idea, or it’s Garth’s, or it’s Kevin’s, maybe. But hell if they don’t make the trip to the Target in Lincoln to get matching Christmas pajamas for all 29 of them. It’s the most obnoxious thing Dean’s ever done, and he can’t get enough of it.

Bobby and Ellen roll their eyes, but there are spots of pink high in their cheeks from the eggnog, so they do it anyway. Rufus puts his on without saying a thing, and stands right in the middle, holding up a sign that says, “Chag Sameach!” Charlie plops an elf hat on Kevin. Garth wears a Santa beard that’s way too big for his face. They set up a tripod all the way back in the library to get them all in the shot, crowded in front of the Christmas tree.

Dean isn’t sure if they get one with everyone looking at the camera before Alex and Krissy hold up a sprig of mistletoe as high as they possibly can, laughing when Sam bends to stand under it, bends even further to kiss Eileen. Claire snatches it from them and holds it over Cas with an exaggerated wink at Dean, shrugging and saying, “I don’t make the rules,” when Dean blushes scarlet.

Then everyone’s in on it, merry from the eggnog, and Dean asks Cas quietly if this is okay because they still haven’t figured out this decade-plus-long thing between them even now, and Cas just says yes, plain and simple. It’s quick, chaste, even, just a soft brush of lips, but when Dean pulls away, Cas is looking at him with stars in his eyes in his ridiculous reindeer footie pajamas, except Dean is also in ridiculous reindeer footie pajamas, and he can only hope Bobby clicked the remote to capture it. Everyone cheers. Even Claire cracks a smile as she rolls her eyes at them and says, “You’re welcome.”

Some of them have to head back to their lives. Some of them stick around for longer. Charlie and Ash set to streamlining the database Sam created. Benny takes up a permanent post in the kitchen, which nobody complains about. Claire decides to give school a try, for real this time, and enrolls at Kansas State. She gets a little place with Kaia in Manhattan, but they make the drive back to the bunker nearly every weekend. 

And now that it’s all finally out, finally in the open after years of longing and secrets and heartbreak and, eventually, trust, Cas moves into Dean’s room. They cover the walls with photos, at first mostly from that Christmas. The big one with everyone, even though Kevin’s eyes are closed and little Sam is mid-sneeze from Garth’s beard. Little Castiel in Cas’s lap. Ash wrapped in a string of Christmas lights, and Charlie and Jo doubled over laughing in the background. Claire and Jack with their arms around Cas, Jack’s head tilted against Cas’s shoulder. Missouri and Patience holding up their gingerbread creation. Ellen sandwiched between Rufus and Bobby on a couch, toasting something or another. Kevin after the movie night, cocooned in blankets, Max and Alicia on either side of him. Benny and Linda, another unlikely duo, mid-arm wrestle, Jody, Donna, and Bess cheering Linda on. Krissy and Alex with that sprig of mistletoe almost over Sam and Eileen.

The one Bobby managed to catch of their first kiss, or, really, right after it. Cas with his reindeer antlers and Dean with his Santa hat, both of them in those ridiculous pajamas, still crowding into each other’s space, smiling like the world was beginning anew. Because it was.

S5 EP18: when cas locks dean in the panic room to stop him from saying yes to michael and “well cas not for nothing but the last person who looked at me like that I got laid” I hate this show. wait I think the blow me cas line is in this episode too what the fuck were they on here

S6 EP5: the scene where dean gets turned into a vampire. between the old dude who I think calls dean a pretty boy (??) and soulless sam....watching??? no ******* but there were just some absolutely foul energies in that scene and I still do not understand WHAT they were thinking

S6 EP20: cas doing a double smite on two demons by slamming them to the ground and then shoving another demon back in its vessel and then smiting him in the same motion. TOP. ENERGY.

S6 EP22: season 6 is possibly cas’ horniest season because he’s like, going through angel puberty after getting his first boner for dean, but the final cas eps are. whoof. cas eats a bunch of souls and proclaims himself to be a new god in order to handle said boner, and then the season ends with cas telling them to bow down and profess their love to him, their new lord, or he will destroy them. note: the way this is framed makes it look like cas is only staring at dean while he says this, even though sam and bobby are also there. the season ends with dramatic zooms on both cas and dean’s faces respectively. this made me actively regret ditching this show after s5 lol

S8 EP??: literally EVERY SINGLE PURGATORY FLASHBACK. cas dean and benny are all purgatory hot in the “pop 10 cranberry pills and risk the UTI” kind of way but also. dean being the hot girl bottom between two tops who hate each other. I really. whew. I need to go take a shower.

S8 EP17: if I get canceled for including the crypt scene on this list I blame you bud. but dean on his knees begging a brainwashed cas to stop killing him WAS sexy. how many times has dean been on his knees in this list wait there’s another one coming up next jsldjfsldkjf

S10 EP3: demon dean being chained up and taunting sam about how his brother is gone, then hunting sam through the bunker. demon dean in general was VERY fun for me, someone who loves trash

S10 EP9: dean going berserk and killing a bunch of pedophile rapists/child abusers. I’m sorry I know this show is trying to preach morality at me about monsters and unnecessary murder and humanity or whatever but we blew past that like 8 SEASONS AGO. also the mark of cain is sexy

S10 EP14: the rest of this list is really gonna be mark of cain stuff isn’t it look I’m here to have fun. cain and dean’s fight. cain continuously tossing his mane of hair back and taunting dean with the picture of what he’s going to become, who he’s going to kill. dean begging cain to tell him that he can stop, and then ultimately killing him. rip daddy.

S11 EP4: again I have not watched this however. every shot of this episode is PRESTIGE TELEVISION because driving a muscle car is sexy. and especially the shot of dean all beat to hell and begging his car to start and giving her a little kiss from his fingers to her dash. ugh. masculinity.

S12 EP10: the bearded salt-and-pepper daddy look returns, only it’s an angel this time and he’s wearing a vest and shirtsleeves and he swordfights with a hot redheaded lady in a suit and an eyepatch. this show is good sometimes!!! and oh fuck lol I just realized this is the same guy who played krissy’s hot hunter dad in s7 probably the first guy who’s hotter as an angel than a hunter. huh.

S12 EP 11: dean riding larry the mechanical bull to “broomstick cowboy.” I have no idea where this factors into the ep but I have seen. the youtube clip

S13 EP23: from what I can tell s13 is way more emotionally horny than boner horny, although dean burning cas’ body was sexy. but the horniest part was dean saying yes to michael and then michael taking over and saying “thanks for the suit.” we are going to ignore the silliest fight scene in existence as well as the final shot ending on a FREEZE FRAME like a goddamn tiktok

S14: not gonna pick a specific moment because I have not watched yet!!! but michael dean is hot. idk why michael is weirdly hot and I cannot stand any iteration of lucifer on this television programme. it should be the reverse but I’m forever an older sibling stan apparently. someone who is catholic could probably explain this better.

S15 EP13: genevieve padalecki and danneel ackles fight flirting as ruby and anael I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY HELD OUT ON THIS TILL THE LAST SEASON

So the last lines of Secondhand Lions started living in my head recently and it made me rewatch the film.

The last two lines of the movie are between the protagonist and a character who confirms the legends about the two old coots (Garth and Hob) and their adventures in Africa were true:

“They really lived?”

“Yeah. They really lived.”

Secondhand Lions is a beautiful story about stories. Legends. The things we should believe in so they can become true. It’s also one of the rare stories where characters you love die and it’s 95% happy at the end.

There’s an absolute end to the story of those two old men but it was the point and the beauty of the entire narrative structure. Garth tells Walter (the kid) a romance story that needs a happily ever after, and then you learn that this present story is what happens after that ‘happily ever after’. Not every story gets a perfect ending, but you’re in multiple stories throughout your life. You’ll inspire some after you’re gone. And sometimes it matters more that a story tells you something worth believing in; how else can it become real?

(Yes, Hogfather has also been living rent free in my head, why do you ask?)

Because Hob and Garth committed to letting Walter into their lives, because you know they lived full lives and loved fiercely, the knowledge that they died (doing what they loved) is the final chord in a song instead of a knife cutting the strings. We know as the audience that the music will echo and continue. Walter has his comics about the summer with Jasmine. The sheikh’s son has told similar stories to his son.

It’s okay that things end. Because this was a good story, and the next story will continue.

All of this works because the themes match the structure. We know the end of all three story threads when they start - Hob and Garth die before we know their names, Walter stays with his uncles, Jasmine died years ago and Hon came home. What matters thematically is that the characters lived. We see that life in depth, from the beginning of the adventure to the point the characters are old and grey. We learn the value of telling stories, and see how they keep the past and loved ones alive. The ending is never a surprise, it’s the answer to “what happened?”

This is the point where I devolve into a somewhat sad Supernatural blogger, cause… this is what the spn writers said they were aiming at with 15x20. Heroes who lived and died and the story is what remains, and they carry on past the point where you think the story should end. They live, and then they don’t, and you’re supposed to be okay with it.

The structure is where themes live and die. S15 as a whole only flirted with Carry On After I’m Gone briefly before Chuck returned, mourning Rowena and grieving Mary instead of bringing her back. “What comes next” isn’t answered because the crisis never stops, unless you count starting a new (romantic) story as an answer. You end up with 42 minutes to build your theme and show the execution — carry on, death and the afterlife is your rest and peace. It’s a linear progression to the conclusion, with repeated empty spaces from the beginning to the end where wounds still ache, even if something else fills the space for a while.

It’s such a world away from “they really lived”. From “a legacy is a seed planted that will grow and blossom.”

“Life has many stories, and ours will live on in the lives of those we touched and saved, long after we’re gone.”

Anyway. Go watch Secondhand Lions or something.
