Welp… AO3 is down so no way am I hearing any feedback for my latest chapter today.
Actually, did it even upload?
Eh, whatever. Worrying about it won’t help so I’m just gonna 3D print merit badges from Psychonauts 2.
Huge shoutout to Jasman506 on Thingiverse!

Part 1 of this thing that doesn’t actually have a steady flow
But wouldn’t it be so funny that the guy you get along with just fine is the brother of the guy that you feel like wanting to shower after making eye contact? Because I think it is
Apologies for the weird colors I did my best with the lighting I have 🧎‍♀️

I had a scrap piece of paper and drew the little freakish dog 👍 I have been silently enjoying your art for like a couple months now? I found it randomly on uploaded Pinterest and was like “oh huh that’s rad” and yeah he’s such a lovely sad little beast

i also don’t want to portray myself as faultless. my work isn’t ai and it isn’t copied. but nk will say i Had old pieces that were copied and referenced ai. Yet it isn’t good faith when i apologize, state how i took accountability, and explain thats definitely not the case today because i learned my lessons- to respond with well you made these mistakes in the past so how can i believe you, you are lying, and have not changed.
so i quit. how can i prove myself then besides what i mentioned in the last post. my question is will you even ALLOW me to prove myself. each time i must explain, i place a spotlight on something that was resolved agreeably with the artists, resolved by removing the works, and resolved within myself by learning from it. but by not saying something i also allow You to concoct narratives and have to watch people spread them around and come to me demanding apologies. it is a very uncomfortable very distressing process that has worn me down completely.
never mind that other artists who have copied have not nearly been requested to apologize as much as i have been. never mind that they were forgiven when they removed the works or even when they just say sorry and don’t remove the work at all. But you still choose to hound me afterwards for doing just that?
nk has stated that i have not fixed this. and that i must address it. how many times though? for how long also? who on this planet starts the conversation by recounting all their mistakes, especially when they know they are resolved.
i have had to learn my lessons through cruelty like yours. trust me its a trauma i have to bear and they are not lessons you then forget.
my anger and my feelings of defeat come from the fact that even after nk was still talking like i had not even attempted to make progress. just look at your tone here.

why is the internet dying so much, its making me feel awful. more people using ai generation. kids getting fucked over because teachers are using ai testers giving false positives on their work. they cant even google shit anymore as its hard to search for stuff. doing my thesis i used bing the entire time because google sucks so much! but even bing has built in ai so the first thing you get is generated. old websites dying, link rot bigger than ever, and social media falling apart completely. posting art online is always at a risk whether youre a good artist or not. its always reposted, which is partially good for archivation but once your work leaves the site you posted it onto you have less rights ratio to it and it can end up who knows where and very much become ai food.. everything is just advertisements now, 80% of twitter posts are pushed ads for me and every second or third post on tumblr is an ad. most of them ai generated. first google results are all ads. and dont let me get started on reading comprehension and media literacy, its GONE

I had a dream last night where the podcast voice actor for Jonathan Sims came to my door to accuse me of academic plagiarism and art theft.

A guide on what to do when there's art you really like and want to show people but don't know the artists: - don't repost it
That's it. if you don't know the artist then you don't post it cause - more likely than not - the artist will be against reposts (or at least without credit)
And no 'credit to the artist' is actually not any kind of credit because 'credit by [name]' is supposed to give people a way to find the artist of the work. So no name = worthless
Maybe you can post it and ask people if they know the artist - however, usually you can find it through google by searching for the picture and the social medias of the atist should pop up.
So yeah. One simple step:
Do not repost art without know the name of the artist

How would you recommend people practice digital art? Your work is beautiful and I'm curious what journey brought you to this point <3
Ooh this is a good one- okay so imo, the most important thing is to practice by drawing/painting things u enjoy. If you’re drawing something you love, that automatically makes it easier to want to keep doing it & improving.
As far as the technical side of it goes, I’d say experiment & try a bunch of different processes to find what works for you. There’s obviously tons of different tutorials out there from people who have wildly varying art processes and I think it’s important to try many different ways of doing digital art, because the possibilities are quite literally endless.
Personally I recommend doing studies of game screenshots or even other artists’ work that you admire, in order to help understand how people use color, value, shade, etc. (I used BotW screenshots for studies personally early on, because I really admire the game’s color scheme and it helped me get a much better grasp on how I wanted to use color in my own work, especially as it pertains to environments & landscapes.) I also personally find studies to be a lot more productive than watching tutorials, because it allows me to go at my own pace and just observe- but obviously everyone has a different learning process so what works for me may not work for everyone.
And don’t be afraid to use the resources that are unique to digital art! Things like filters, HSB adjustments, curves/levels, even just different brushes can all help you get your art looking the way you want. Personally, procreate’s “color balance” options are my best friend- I use that option a ton even still, especially when I’m planning out my color schemes.
I’d also say, more as a general art tip than something specific to digital art- if you have an idea of something you want to draw or paint, but you don’t think you know how to do it or don’t think you have the skills to draw it yet— do it anyways!! Look up all the references you can, see how other people made a similar piece, and just draw yours anyways! You’ll learn a lot more by stepping out of your comfort zone and just going for it then you will by “waiting until you’re ready”. And if you don’t end up being happy with the finished piece, you can ALWAYS redo it later— just because you’ve drawn something once doesn’t mean that you’re never allowed to revisit that concept.
Overall I’d just say, experiment, play around & have fun! Find what you enjoy and it will make creating your art a lot more fulfilling.
I hope this is helpful somewhat! 🩷

Maybe some better questions would be: what visual artists inspire you the most? Are there any artists whose style or use of color you like to emulate? (I know nothing about visual arts, so I hope these are not dumb questions lol)
I really need to read more high fantasy. Should I start with The Witcher?
Long response by me (!!!) under cut, I'll not be held accountable for any typos as my autocorrect is currently not present
Letsgooo
Not to emulate a whole artstyle but I it's good to take little parts from different ones and translate it into your own (which honestly I should start doing again bc I'm getting stuck lately)
@/manny.oe (insta) is probably my favourite artists, he changes artsyles whenewher he feels like it but he is a professional and does visual dev work, he does so mych aauuh so much to kearn from him, I used to get inspired by the way he shades and picks colors, he also posts a lot of figure drawing sketches on stories that I try to just copy lolol (but these are the kind of studies you copy and never post)
@/ahmedaldoori_art (insta) when you look up his profile you see a lot of sketches and unfinished stuff but when you find his fully rendered pieces RAHHH THATSS how I want to render, very soft(?) rendering that I like
There is also someone from tumblr aaand from avatar fandom @/allgremlinart and they're my lineart goals (the line weight! yes!)....ok and rendering goals too..... They also have a side blog where they post their original art and yeeea good stuff good stuff
@/jamjoob (tumblr and insta) LINEART GOALS waaauuhhh such a nice light smooth lines, their colors are also tasty cozy..
So there's four digital artists I thought about first, there's WAY more but I'm not writing a book pointing out every artist I like (sadly. Hm ok I'd be too lazy)
(bonus five person a girl I had csush on fhgvjh legit best artist man give me your style. hand it over)
But I can get inspired with others all I want I still should learn color theory my biggest hater and enemy
I told you before you sent a fun good ask but I didn't notice a witcher part then shsjs
So hmmmm mmm m I'm not sure? It really depends on the person but the writing isn't that good, I was personally drawn by the characters and concepts (and the whole idea how witchers work is fun to me) (also I've read them in highschool so)
Some scenes can be kinda weird, it was after all written by a silly old polish guy
First two books- The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny are more of short stories and they're probably the best, after them the tone changes a little and the main plot begins (if I remeber it correctly)
I've read them in polish but I've heard some opinions that the writing in translations can be worse than original
But you already know I loooove legend of Korra, that is an art of taking good characters and concepts form stuff with questionable writing (but legend of korra is justified and forgiven by circumstances the writers struggled with (((and by me)))))))
But honestly that's up to you, I'd say you should try something else for your first time, you can look for other opinions too

I’m so shocked. That the vfx industry doesn’t have a union I feel you guys and animation are the one that are most easy overworked and that doesn’t reach the news
yeah, it's pretty fucked up. we really are at the mercy of everyone else since we're the last link of the chain. it's even worse for VFX artists in hubs where labor is cheap (for example india where they are severely underpaid and overworked).
i am disappointed it's not talked about more, but i get it. it's not about us. but yeah it's not looking good for people in the VFX industry right now... some companies were already struggling post covid shutdowns and now this? it's rough :/
i'm okay for now, for the next couple of weeks until my current project ends, but i have no clue what's gonna happen after. about 3 weeks ago we had a company wide meeting at my workplace saying we are fine and have enough work, but honestly i'm not trusting that. not with what i hear from friends at other companies in the city, especially with the SAG-AFTRA now most likely going on strike too.
that being said, i truly fucking hope this strike changes hollywood for the better, it's time!!
moral of the story: guys, have a backup plan and don't go work in a field where you cannot be protected

#cnn just had a special about the shake it off lawsuit#which I’d never really read up on#and while I absolutely don’t believe that Taylor plagiarized the person’s song#and could absolutely believe she’d never heard of it#(cnn pundits: this song was everywhere! it was a hit! it was always on TRL!)#(me around the same age: legitimately have never heard of these people)#I kinda feel the professional thing for her to do would have been to credit them regardless once it was known#the same way she did right said Fred for lyymmd#or the way OR ended up having to for DV#because I feel like there’s more similarity between the complainant’s song and sio#than there is between CS and DV#(read: not much at all)#especially given the optics of the power dynamic and communities involved#and while I don’t know the details and frankly cnn’s reporting was incredibly flawed and didn’t answer its own thesis#I’m assuming because it was dismissed/settled out of court/NDAs involved etc#and I’m sure Taylor’s team held fast because they don’t want to open the door to future suits for other songs and become a target#for people wanting to make a quick buck and exploit her fame#but the one good point they made was that giving 50% credit or whatever would be a drop in the bucket for her but go a long way to support#artists protecting their work and especially African-American artists whose work has been historically diminished and stolen#especially when she’d later set the precedent for her work herself with lwymmd and on the flip side with OR#idk as a swiftie the obvious angle of the episode was irritating because they definitely had an agenda#but that doesn’t mean that points weren’t made#tag novel

I dream to be used as material for other people’s content.
A dream of mine ever since i started posting online isn’t to get internet famous, or become a millionaire off of my content. But to bring joy and to have my stuff get used in countless of projects more or less without my permission. I want to get to a point where what i make ends up as one of the first results on Google images so thousands of young creators get to right click save image on the fruits of my labor.
I want my art to be featured in a 13 year old’s vent AMVs of their comfort character to a song by Evanescence or Skillet, i want to have an illustration i’m deeply proud of be used as a Russian teen’s profile picture on VK, or a German kid’s desktop wallpaper. I want clips of my cosplays to get used in people’s Spanish written fanfictions on Tiktok.
I want videos of me screenshotted and gifed into reaction images and have them posted all over obscure message boards, or to have a soundbyte be used in people’s Youtube poops. I want the music i make to get reuploaded into nightcore with a picture of a sad anime girl or Sans with press-on nails. I want my animation memes to get put into top 10s or to feature in a cringe compilation with someone’s lavender angle wolf furry oc giving me constructive criticism on my work. I want people on Instagram to make thirst traps slowly panning up my art with capcut.
I want a teenager who uses bun/bunself on Tumblr to make flower crown edits of my creations. I want my NSFW to be featured as clickbait in a 24 year old man’s first custom let’s play thumbnail. I want to be featured in a British stranger’s Pinterest board. I want to see my doodles used as templates in a meme generator.
I want to have a French girl in their tweens use one of my shitposts as a cover for a their Lemon Y/N X character Wattpad fanfiction. I want my art printed onto a cake with happy 9th birthday Daniella written on with icing. I want a 36 year old woman on Deviantart to crudely draw a vore belly with MS paint onto a picture i created.
I want to be unknowingly helping an American college student who need to fill a slide on their 10 slide PowerPoint presentation about dolphins or to be the backdrop for a 17 year old person with autism’s announcement of their week long hiatus from Amino. I want to have my art printed out and plastered onto someone’s wall with stickers and tape. I want to be used by people online who want to have fun or who simply want to create on the internet.
However, i do NOT want my art to be stolen by people who claim that they made it, or to have it be used in AI datasets by tech bros who specifically want to make a profit. I don’t want multi-million dollar clothing brands to steal my art to use as merch. I don’t want my art being used to promote shady pyramid schemes to children. I don’t want my art to be edited into CP, or used to promote hate speech. I don’t want my art to be exploited unethically for profit or clout.
Whenever i see something that i have created being used by someone else: i feel a sense of glee that is incredibly particular. I have a folder dedicated to this very thing, of wild instances of people using what i have made unknowingly, all titled ether with the title of the creation or me at that moment expressing the sheer joy i felt seeing something i have created be used or mentioned. It makes me feel like i’m giving something to the world, that what i do isn’t for nothing and that people DO appreciate what i make. It’s a feeling that i adore to my very core.
What i have created has been in Deviantart submissions, Youtube videos, Reddit posts, Tiktoks, Discord profiles, Wattpad thumbnails, Amino, VK, News articles and sites i’ve never even heard of before! Heck, some of the things i mentioned in this post are based off of ACTUAL occurrences! I won’t tell which of these happened to me, however. That is a secret for me to keep.

I block art thieves on sight but it's not on my DNI because if I don't know they exist, I can't prevent them from seeing and stealing my art. I let them interact first so I can block them. I'm so smart
