i don’t know what it is about Twisters but the little clichés and classic movie tropes they added were done perfectly. each one felt like the first time i’d ever seen it. she calls something gorgeous and he looks at her with love in his eyes, thinking how gorgeous she is???! incredible!! he runs through an airport to get to her before she leaves for good?? i’ve never seen anything like it!!

I have begun reading #9 in the Amelia Peabody mysteries, "Seeing A Large Cat". In the early part of the book, they mention Theodore Davis. Emerson refers to him as a "wealthy dilettante". While Davis was not an actual archaeologist or Egyptologist, he was important in the world of Egyptian archaeology. Davis discovered artefacts relating to Tut. He believed, though, that there were no more relics to be found, once he found the items. Here is the whole story:

Amelia dropped her keys in the bowl as the front door closed, "Hello?" she called out not knowing her husband made it home yet. He usually arrived before she did, and the delay in dog barks or running pattern was usually a primary clue that he'd made it first. As predicted, the running pattern became obvious, and the barking soon after as their dogs ran for her. "Well hello my handsome boys." She greeted, crouching down to give some love to both pointer dogs. "Have you two been fed? Huh?" she asked the dogs as she heard her husband's foot steps walked closer. Amelia hadn't seen him in almost a week since she needed to be out of town for work and god had she missed him. God did he looked delicious. "Hello." she exaggerated. "Have we met before?" she joked. "I've been gone so long, I don't think I know who my husband is. He can't possibly be this sexy ass man standing in my foyer? I think I need something to convince me, a secret, or a touch or something."
