A Black couple living in Dallas say their 2-week-old daughter was taken from them because they decided to have a home birth with a midwife.
Tumblr media
Home-births and midwifery services are increasingly sought out by Black pregnant people and families over traditional hospital settings amid a mounting maternal mortality crisis exacerbated by systemic medical racism. Black pregnant people are three to four times more likely than white pregnant people to die from pregnancy-related causes, per the CDC.
Tumblr media
When Black pregnant people and families can’t feel safe seeking pregnancy and birth-related services from the hospital, and can’t feel safe choosing home births and home care options that draw police attention.

A married couple who fled Haiti for Virginia achieved their American dream when they opened a variety market on the Eastern Shore, selling hard-to-find spices, sodas and rice to the region’s growing Haitian community.
When they added a Haitian food truck, people drove from an hour away for freshly cooked oxtail, fried plantains and marinated pork.
But Clemene Bastien and Theslet Benoir are now suing the town of Parksley, alleging that it forced their food truck to close. The couple also say Parksley Town Council member Henry Nicholson cut the mobile kitchen’s water line and screamed, “Go back to your own country!”
“When we first opened, there were a lot of people” ordering food, Bastien said, speaking through an interpreter. “And the day after, there were a lot of people. And then … they started harassing us.”
A federal lawsuit claims the town passed a food truck ban that targeted the couple, then threatened them with fines and imprisonment when they raised concerns. They’re being represented by the Institute for Justice, a law firm that described a “string of abuses” in the historic railroad town of about 800 people.
“If Theslet and Clemene were not of Haitian descent, Parksley’s town government would not have engaged in this abusive conduct,” the lawsuit states.

I DO NOT SUPPORT Israel AT ALL
I AM COMPLETELY INDIFFERENT TOWARDS THE UKRAINE
I THINK TAYLOR SWIFT IS SHADY
TRUMP AND BIDEN ARE EXACTLY THE SAME
I DON’T TRUST THE U.S. POLICE
I REJECT ALMOST ALL SECTS OF WESTERN CHRISTIANITY
AND IF I HAD A CHOICE …. I’D CHOOSE SOCIALISM OVER CAPITALISM
I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN AMERICA .. BUT I DO NOT ALIGN WITH WHITENESS.
…. the value system that we call “American” is actually whiteness.
And I’m not white… & aligning with whiteness doesn’t serve me.

Watch "Why Bill Burr Never Liked White Woman" on YouTube
youtube
A female friend (known about 4 years or more) who is white American, just asked me to "give her a chance" a half hour ago. I told her the truth; I don't date American white women. Even though she shouldn't be surprised after knowing me for so long, she somehow had to ask me why... So I let her watch this video... Keep in mind that the woman I'm talking about IS one of the "I love black men... So long as my girlfriends, family, coworkers and social media, etc don't find out" kinda women. I've met women of all races that are exactly that way. Believe me. I'm not a huge fan of his but Bill Burr ain't lying. As a black man in murica, I've run into these women every day. To women, black lives do matter... So long as you're not an ordinary, cis gender heterosexual black man. As for that "friend" of mine... She's pissed off at me. Which is her problem. After all the cursing and "stupid ni**er" she threw at me, she proved my point. Don't think (and sincerely hope) I'll never see or speak to her again.

LUVERNE, Alabama, July 22 (Reuters) - A subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Co has used child labor at a plant that supplies parts for the Korean carmaker's assembly line in nearby Montgomery, Alabama, according to area police, the family of three underage workers, and eight former and current employees of the factory.
Underage workers, in some cases as young as 12, have recently worked at a metal stamping plant operated by SMART Alabama LLC, these people said. SMART, listed by Hyundai in corporate filings as a majority-owned unit, supplies parts for some of the most popular cars and SUVs built by the automaker in Montgomery, its flagship U.S. assembly plant.

Shocking fact
Although I’ve been to many different countries that have just been so incredibly amazing, there was just one place that I’ve honestly been so disappointed to have even visited… No, if I didn’t go there I would’ve never about this. It is a place that needs so much money to keep a float that it’s surprising that there isn’t more people that have gone to bankruptcy, this place is obviously….America, well to be more accurate it’s most of California and Nevada.
Despite the fact that I’ve heard of the of the high tax prices they expect us to pay 20% honestly their crazy if they’re genuinely serious for us to pay up or just out of their minds. If the country is that poor and can’t even pay the workers they basically servants that work for nothing.
Moving on (since there’s just so much to complain about tax) I don’t know if it just me or that this could be because I’m from someplace different but even my friend that used to live there agrees with me that the humidity in the air is just too dry, it feels as if the wind is filled with polluted gasses making it hard not to be irritated, just so you know it honestly doesn’t smell that great.
There’s something that is just as horrible and unbelievable as believing that some greater being exist, it is the disgusting food that the people in America has kept devouring, making them 42.4% in obesity rate even their food cannot and I mean not in a 1000 years will their food ever even be on the same level as any country in this whole wide world. The place that i come from which is Thailand has much more delicious food unlike America we have sooo much more spices and taste in the food, although some people might not agree with me at least the food is not undercooked or just soaked in oil with only salt as the spice.
Regardless of how much I am loving to diss america right now, they just don’t deserve all of my feeling and honestly i don’t thing they can handle (i don’t mean the people just the food, it supposed to be good) and I just can’t just for me to see it heartbroken. It is honestly disgusting, the food obviously. (no hard feelings america 🙂🙂🙂)

Sometimes it's necessary to put "Take on Me" on repeat, play some "Metal Gear Solid", dance like a 1980s anime character and pretend everything isn't quickly burning down around me... Just for a little bit...

America is so disgusting---
BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT.
They just be frontin, but this place truly sucks. I know compared to other countries it's a lot better, but whats really better? Hidden truth? It's really low out here. I hope I'm able to be in my own position Lord willing to give back to the communities who really need a hand.
