Art.com x International Artist Day Giveaway 2023 Terms and Conditions

OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. The Art.com International Artist Day Giveaway (“Sweepstakes”) begins at 9:00 AM Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) on October 25th, 2023 and ends at 11:59PM EST October 29th, 2023 (the “Entry Period”).

1. HOW TO ENTER:

(A) via Instagram. To enter during the Entry Period (October 25th, 2023 - October 29th, 2023), each entrant must (i) follow @artdotcom on Instagram, (ii) tag a friend on the Sweepstakes Post. If you do not have an Instagram account, you may access and download the Instagram application for free on your mobile device through your device’s app store. You are responsible for all software, hardware and costs associated with your access to and downloading of the Instagram app.

(B) via E-mail. Send an e-mail to [email protected] with the subject line: “ADC x International Artist Day Giveaway,” and ensure to include your name, age, and location in the email.

All entries must be completed during the Entry Period for an entrant to receive an entry in the Sweepstakes. Multiple entries are permitted per person. Incomplete entries are void. All entries become the property of Art.com and will not be acknowledged or returned. The Sweepstakes is sponsored by Art.com (“Art.com” and “Sponsor”). Art.com assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, illegible or mutilated entries or for any access to or inability to access any computer, online, telephone, cable, network, electronic or Internet hardware or software malfunctions, failures, connections, availability, garbled or jumbled transmissions, service provider, Internet, web site, or other accessibility or availability issues, traffic congestion, or unauthorized human intervention, or any technical malfunctions that may occur. 2. ELIGIBILITY: This Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the 48 states and the District of Columbia in the contiguous U.S. (excluding residents of Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Marianas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and other U.S. Territories) who are 18 years of age or older as of the start of the Entry Period. Employees of Art.com, their subsidiaries, affiliates and prize suppliers, and their immediate families (spouse, parents, children, siblings and their spouses) and individuals living in the same household as such employees are ineligible. This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the United States and is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Marianas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and all other U.S. Territories, and where prohibited by law. 3. DRAWING: Upon the end of the Entry Period, one eligible entrant will be chosen at random from among all eligible entries received during the Entry Period and in compliance with these Official Rules and notified by Scout Digital on behalf of Sponsor by email or via Instagram comment and Instagram Direct Message by 11:59PM ET on October 30th, 2023. Selected winners will have 48 hours to respond to Scout Digital’s notification in order to claim their prize or it will be forfeited and a new winner will be selected at random. All Instagram entrants must set their Instagram account as “public” so as to be capable of receiving the aforementioned and other messages from Sponsor and Scout Digital. It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to set accounts on public and neither Scout Digital nor Sponsor shall be responsible for their inability to reach any potential winner.

By participating, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. All prizes will be awarded unless one or more potential winners do not respond to Sponsor’s attempt to reach them. Limit one prize per person, family or household.

4. PRIZES: There will be 1 winner selected. One winners and their friend will receive one prize package that includes the following: one print from the website of their choice

Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion. Art.com reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event an offered prize is unavailable. No substitution or transfer of prize permitted except as provided herein.

5. GENERAL CONDITIONS: All federal, state, and local taxes, fees and surcharges on prize packages are the sole responsibility of the prize winners. Prize winners may be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability/Prize Acceptance Form within seven (7) days following winner notification. Return of any prize and/or prize notification as undeliverable or failure of any entrant to comply with any Official Rules will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.

Winners grant Art.com the right to use and publish their legal name and state of residence online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Sweepstakes. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Art.com and its advertising and promotional agencies to use winners’ names and likenesses for editorials, advertising and promotional purposes in any media now known or hereafter developed without payment of additional compensation unless prohibited by law. Romione FicFest 2021 - Kickoff Post

Good evening/afternoon/morning to everyone. Welcome to the FicFest 2021.

This year has a few additional upgrades including....

Gmail address for submitting all fics

Our own collection for Ao3

and currently working on headers and other décor as well as an updated FAQ. (This one is the one from Last year so working on a new update for it.)

If anyone needs audio in addition to alt-text for any graphics, please let me know so I can figure a way out to add it as well. But if no one does, then I’m not putting in the additional time which can be spent on other things.

Prompts

This isn’t a sign-up kind of fest but a prompt one. Since so many lovely people submitted prompts - across 4 entry points! - there will be plenty to choose from for writers. There’s various tropes & genres, settings and situations, and prompt words/ideas/items.

Day 1 prompting starts tomorrow @ 6pm GMT. Link to World Clock.

Pick 1 from the daily list. If you wish to incorporate more, more power to you. If there is something not on the list you want to write, there is a Free Day prompt going up sometime. Use it if there isn’t anything else you like.

Write it how you will - from the trope busting genre to using an object in an unusual way - heck, even take a prompt and crack it like Mary Wollstonecraft’s headstone - that’s fine for me. I love seeing the creativity in action.

For those who don’t speak English as a first language:

By all means, submit your work in English - but it doesn’t have to be perfect. No one (gives side-eyes to all entrants!) will hold it against you for not speaking perfect English (and if they do, they have to deal with me.)

Entries:

Want to write 50 entries? Send them all in. The more the merrier. Only have time for one? That’s great too. I take any and all entries - if they are under 1500 words. (Though if it was like last year and an entry is over such, it will still be posted but not entered into the voting for the prize(s).)

Only 2 things are exempt:

No Infidelity for the main couple. ‘Tis my squick - and my fest - so that’s my rule. It doesn’t mean anyone else isn’t open for such - but not Ron & Hermione. This is a fest for them, after all.

No bashing. Criticism is OK but not bashing.

Also, like last year, I will submit at least one. It will be labeled and ineligible for voting consideration. I win because I get to read the entries first.

Betas:

While they aren’t required, it does make for a more pleasant reading experience. If anyone needs a beta and doesn’t have one (or their normal one is busy) email/IM/DM me and I will post a need - and if no one reaches out, I will pinch-hit as a beta for you - and make note of it in the author’s notes for transparency.

Ratings:

Any rating is fine - from G to NC-35. I am the final arbiter on ratings & if I think that it’s rated too low, I will bump it up - or add tag warnings for it. Not everyone wants to read lemon citrus works or not safe for work items so active and ongoing consent is mandatory.

Also, if someone has a trigger warning they need me to keep in mind for any entries - no matter how embarrassing or strange you think they are - please let me know. Really. No judgment on my part on what is a trigger. No, I won’t ask why, either. That’s not my business. Your comfort for this fest is my business. That’s why Anonymous stays open.

Submission forms:

This year I have the email address up and running

[email protected] as well as the collection point on Ao3 up and going. But submitting it on the Tumblr form - and me doing the legwork - is there as well. If you email it in, it doesn’t have to be in Ao3 html markup. I have a script on Google Docs I use for that - and check it before entry. But if you do, it saves me much time on validation of the coding.

The less time I work on coding means more time for other stuff.

Back-stage administration:

All behind the scenes items are open for inspection so anyone saying I have my scaly talons on the voting/nudging anything will see that isn’t my objective. I win because A) I get to read these works first! and B) I get to watch healthy drama unfolding.

If there are any criticisms, I gladly accept them. I won’t bite if you put your name to your criticism and will take it in consideration. I have some amazing Romione writers who have already reached out to help the behind the scenes administration for this fest whom will help if there are any ethical or moral concerns. Come in blasting on anonymous and.... well, that never goes well. There’s ample rusted chainmail in my caverns from those who tried and failed. I have zero qualms blocking via IP address. So, please, be civil & cordial.

Voting

Yes, there will be voting again this year. I will, once again, put up a grand prize. While @hillnerd is too busy being amazing for art, I will find another suitable prize for the winner - and some prizes for the top 4. What they will be.... remains to be seen. Yes, this goes for everyone - including those internationally (I have my ways!)

The sponsor of this Contest is Ellation, LLC 444 Bush Street, San Francisco USA 94108 (“Sponsor”).

The Contest will take place as follows:

Entry Period: The Contest Period begins on March 16, 2021 (“Start Date”) at 12:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) and ends on March 28, 2021 at 11:59 PM PST PT (the “Entry Period”). Potential Winners Notification: The potential winners will be contacted between April 9, 2021 and April 16, 2021, per the description in Section Six (6) of the Official Rules.

2. ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to legal residents of the Eligible Countries, who are physically located and residing therein and who are at least eighteen (18) years of age and have reached the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction of primary residence at time of Entry (“Entrant”). This Contest is not intended to solicit purchase of any materials required for play. Each Entrant must be the rightful owner of the email address identified in the Entrant's Entry. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of a winner, the Judges will decide the identity of the winner based on the natural person in whose name the email account associated with the provided email address was opened, or other evidence presented to the Judges in a timely fashion. Employees, shareholders, officers, directors, agents, contractors and representatives of Sponsor and each of its respective parent companies, affiliates, divisions, subsidiaries, agents, representatives and promotion and advertising agencies, together with the Immediate Family Members and/or Household Members (both as defined below) of such persons, are not eligible to participate in the Contest. For purposes of the Contest, "Household Members" shall mean those people who share the same residence at least three months a year, whether or not related; "Immediate Family Members" shall mean parents, step-parents, legal guardians, children, step-children, siblings, step-siblings, or spouses, regardless of where they live. 3. HOW TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Internet access required. During the Entry Period, Entrants must: (i) follow @Crunchyroll on Instagram; (ii) post a photo or video on their feed showing the AR filter in use; and (iii) include #SlimeAnime and @Crunchyroll in the caption for a chance to win (“Entry”). Entrants must provide all information requested to be eligible to win.

All Entrants must complete the Entry requirements by 11:59 AM PST on March 28, 2021. Entrants who provide Entries which violate any of these requirements may be deemed ineligible to participate in the Contest or receive the prize and their Entry may be void at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify, in their sole and absolute discretion, any Entries deemed inappropriate or that do not comply with the Contest Official Rules. 5. PRIZES:

Sponsor shall have the right and sole discretion to edit, to refuse to publish or cease to publish any Entry whatsoever which it finds to be in violation of these Official Rules, does not fully comply with all of Sponsor’s requirements in connection with any and all legal clearance issues, or which it finds in its sole discretion to be otherwise objectionable for any reason. Sponsor also reserves the right to replace any of the winning Entries with the Entry of an alternate eligible Entrant in accordance with these Official Rules if such Entry and/or Entrant is withdrawn from or removed from the Contest for any reason, including without limitation, Entrant’s failure to have documents executed as directed by the Sponsor. Sponsor also reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to adjust times and dates reflected in the Description Section of the Official Rules at any time and/or to terminate the Contest for any reason in the event that there is an error, problem or cause which impacts the operation, administration or security of the Contest or the Sponsor and, in such situation, to select the Winners from the eligible Entries received prior to the action taken or in such manner as deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor. The Sponsor is not responsible for any Material provided by Entrants that are deemed harmful or offensive to others or for any harm incurred as a result of the Entry creation. The Sponsor is not responsible in any way for any injury, loss or damage that occurs as a result of an opinion expressed or information provided in connection with the Contest. The Sponsor makes no warranties, express or implied, as to the content or the accuracy or reliability of any information or statements contained in any Entry. All statements and opinions made by Entrants are those of such Entrants only, and the Sponsor neither endorse nor shall be held responsible for the reliability or accuracy of the same. This site may also be linked to Web sites operated by companies affiliated with Sponsor. Visitors to those sites should refer to each site’s separate privacy policies and practices.

11. WARRANTY: It is an express condition of Entry and eligibility that each Entrant warrants and represents that Entrant’s Entry is solely owned by Entrant and solely created by Entrant for the purpose of entering this Contest, and that no other party has any rights or interest in the Entry. It is each Entrant’s responsibility to timely check his/her/their Instagram™ Account for any comments, @replies or messages from Sponsor and to ensure that Entrant’s Instagram™ settings allow Entrant to receive comments, messages and/or replies from Sponsor. Potential Winner will be required to be in contact with Sponsor, after receiving the initial notification within seventy-two (72) hours to begin the Winner verification process. In the event of a Prize forfeiture, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, award or not award the forfeited Prize to an alternate Winner. Once a Potential Winner has completed all requirements in these Official Rules and been verified by Sponsor, he/she/they will be declared the Winner. PRIZE:

Ten (1) Prize Winner will receive a $200 GetYourGuide experiences voucher (the “Grand Prize”).

PRIZE CONDITIONS:

The Winner must complete and return any paperwork required by Sponsor, including but not limited to a liability or publicity release.

Winner hereby acknowledges that Sponsor has not and will not obtain or provide travel insurance or any other form of insurance for any part of the Grand Prize.

Released Parties (defined below in Section 9) bear no responsibility if any event, element or detail of the GetYourGuide experience is canceled, postponed or becomes unavailable for any reason. Should any event, element or detail of the Grand Prize become unavailable, Released Parties shall have no obligation to the Winner aside from providing the the Grand Prize, minus any unavailable event, element or detail. Dropping another tissue onto the nearby coffee table, the irritation of Jonathans' nose was showing no signs of giving him a moments respite and he continued to rub at the end of it with the back of his hand.

“You're only making it worse by touching it.” Edwards' unwanted opinion wafted over to him from the opened door of the kitchen. “I have been telling you to leave it alone.”

Ignoring him, Jonathan settled back into the inviting comfort of the couch as he willed his mild cold away through sheer force of his mental prowess. However, his head had barely came into contact with the pillows when a soft knock alerted both occupants of the apartment to a presence at the door.

He glanced at Edward expectantly and received a shake of the head in response.

“Do not look at me. If I take my eyes off this soup for a moment it will boil over and destroy my stove top.” Edward argued. “It is most likely a delivery for yourself anyway.”

Releasing a growl of annoyance, Jonathan pushed himself up from the couch and approached the door. They were not expecting company tonight and he subtly palmed the metal bar which acted as their preferred deterrence for unwanted visitors with one hand as he allowed the other to click the handle down and swing the door open with a little force.

No soon had the door opened more than a few inches when an unexpected musical chorus met him.

“TRICK OR TREAT!”

What?

His stony glance lowered slowly until it settled on a trio of children, around five or six by his estimations, who were standing before him with face-splitting grins. Their small hands were wrapped around plastic bags, their contents already beginning to bulge with various candies and other gifts already received, with an almost vice-like grip.

Unable to believe what was standing before him, Jonathan could only blink as he towered over them.

“Excuse me?”

“TRICK OR TREAT!”

The phrase was repeated with an equal volume of enthusiasm but now with the added enthusiasm of the shaking of the candy bags, a hint as to his what his next move should be.

“Excus-”

“Well what do we have here!?”

Edwards' showman tones resonated over Jonathans' shoulder and his head shot to the side as he registered the sudden appearance of his partner.

So much for the soup.

Within Edwards' grasp was a large hollow plastic pumpkin filled to the brim with large bags of mixed candies and sweets which any child would practically salivate over given half a chance.

Apparently Edward had known that today was Halloween.

That made one of them.

Narrowing his eyes suspiciously, Jonathan stared at the hollow pumpkin.

“Where did that even come from?”

“I always hand out candy on Halloween.” Keeping a huge smile on his face to ensure the attention of the children, Edward spoke from the corners of his mouth. “I am not a miser and you have always worked Halloween in the past and I suspected that your previous conceding of this years 'celebration' to Julian Day would mean that you would forget about the day itself.”

Well, he was not wrong.

His recent illness and lack of holiday themed plans had resulted in his complete ignorance of the holiday itself and as Edward swung the door open, Jonathan found that both himself and Edward were left standing openly in the doorway before the three children.

“So, do you have a song or a dance for us?” Edward shook the pumpkin invitingly. “You all understand that you must perform in exchange for a bag. You have to earn your treat.”

Stepping forward, the only boy of the group took position in front of the girls.

“I'm Aiden and i'm a mummy!” He squeaked out and he held his toilet paper wrapped arms out in mock-mummy fashion as he walked forward a few steps. “The girls said I was scary. Do I look scary?”

Rolling his eyes, Jonathan was just about to turn back into the apartment and leave Edward to deal with this himself when he felt Edwards' fingers jamming themselves between his thin ribs and he jumped in both pain and surprise.

“Look!” Edward exclaimed as he switched his grip and Jonathan could feel that he was being held gently in place. “You made Jonathan here jump! You must be extremely frightening!”

Glaring at Edward with open irritation, Jonathan fought against his desire to immaturely ram his hand against Edwards' sides in revenge and instead chose to fold his arms across his chest as he held his position.

“Do you have a song?” He bit out between clenched teeth since clearly his presence here was necessary.

At his question, the boy burst out into a very loud and disturbingly off-key version of some childish rhyme involving frogs and logs which was interspersed with both physical dancing and mediocre frog impressions.

Forcing a smile onto his face, Jonathan drummed his fingers against his arms in faux-applause as Edward provided an actual small applause before removing a bag from the pumpkin and dropping it in the boys' bag.

Pleased with his winnings, the boy bounded away back down the corridor.

The first of the two girls quickly stepped forward, taking her friends place, and her dark skin was mostly covered by a black cat mask which possessed both ears and whiskers.

“And you're a cat.” Jonathan stated.

“Nope,” the girl threw her hands onto his hips with some force as she shook her head, “i'm Catwoman! I'm going to get the most candy tonight and then i'm going to go steal all the money in all the banks in Gotham!”

For the first time since this encounter began, a genuine smirk tugged at Jonathans' lips. This one was a lively little thing and he was sorely tempted to give her vague directions to send her past Selinas' safehouse.

It would be worth it for the reaction from the feline thief herself.

“My momma says she's a good role model.” The girl continued.

“That she is,” Edward nodded his agreement, “so do you have a song for us?”

“I've got a riddle.”

“Really?!” Edwards' grin lit up again as he placed the pumpkin on the floor and dropped to one knee to give this girl his full attention. “And what is it?”

Shifting her eyes for a moment as she struggled to remember, eventually the girl crossed her arms in a fashion similar to Jonathans' own.

“What gets wetter as it dries?”

Seeing Edward open his mouth to answer, unable to stop himself, Jonathan shot his hand out and squeezed on his shoulder hard enough to stop his words in his tracks as a small hiss of pain instead escaped the kneeling genius.

A small act of revenge.

“Sorry child,” he tilted his head sweetly at the expectant girl, “my friend here is not smart enough to understand the answer to your riddle. Tell him the answer?”

“A towel!” She exclaimed with pride, her smile at Edward laced with sympathy, and then held her bag out for her reward.

“You heard the child, Edward,” Jonathan prompted, voice gentle as though explaining something simple, “it was 'a towel'. Now give the cat her prize.”

As Edward handed the girl her bag, Jonathan momentarily ducked back into the apartment to grab another tissue. One quick blown nose later and he was back to see what the final child had left to offer.

The experience so far had not been as dreadful as he had initially anticipated. Children these days were more humorous than he recalled from his own youth. They were still unsanitary and far too meddlesome for their own good but at least they could apparently amuse him for a moment.

As he focused his attention on the last child, he noted that she was dressed as some form of undead creature, a zombie most likely, and her made-up pale skin and dark eyes with faux-blood made him wonder at exactly what point adults had an input into their childs' designs.

“I have a joke!” She announced, forgoing any other attempt at small talk with the two adults.

“Then I would love to hear it.”

As Edward stood again, Jonathan felt a surge of mild fondness at the level of enthusiasm which Edward was injecting into this absolutely pointless activity. He made a mental note to ask Edward about his own experiences with Halloween since there was obviously some emotionally fertile land there to till. Edwards' happy memories were few and far between so it would be interesting to discover another layer of the genius in relation to the current holidays.

Clearing her throat dramatically, the girl set up her punchline.

“Why did the scarecrow get an award?”

Unable to withhold their joint smirks at the mention of Jonathans' alter-ego, Jonathan felt Edward twist his body to face his.

“I have no clue, why did the scarecrow get an award?” Edwards' eyes sparkled with his mirth. “Do you know the answer?”

“They do not allow me to receive awards anymore,” Jonathan muttered from the corner of his mouth in response, “apparently my frequent residencies in Arkham make me ineligible.”

Not privy to their conversation, the child continued.

“Because he was the best in his field!”

Even as a smile again tugged at his own lips, Jonathan could hear a small appreciative chuckle emitting from Edward as he humoured the girl.

“Very funny! You are quite the joker, little lady.”

“My mom and dad say we don't like the Joker,” the girl offered in a loud hushed tone, a childs' idea of confidential speech, “she says he is a horrible man!”

“Your parents are not wrong.”

Jonathan agreed politely and, feeling charitable, handed the girl two bags of candy which she thanked him for before greedily stuffing them into her bag.

“Now run off to your friends and be sure to shut the main door behind you,” he instructed her before lowering his tone significantly until only Edward would be able to hear him, “lest any other children find their way in here.”

Grinning, the girl let loose a childish wave before sprinting away down the corridor. However, before she had gotten more than a few meters away she paused and turned back the duo watching her depart.

“Hey mister!” She called out, high voice echoing through the empty hallway.

“Yes?” Jonathan answered.

“I really, really, really like your skeleton costume! It's so creepy!”

Having given her opinion, the girl disappeared around the corner of the hall as the patter of her small feet and youthful giggles slowly faded away.

Looking down as his outfit, Jonathan was confronted by the simple white vest and grey slacks which he had thrown on to ensure comfort as he recovered from his cold and a furrow of confusion made its way onto his face as he glanced at Edward.

“What costume?”

Not even trying to hold it in, Edwards' laughter was like a thunderclap in the hallway as he registered the offence which the girl had inadvertently created in his unwell partner.

Aboard the Endless Expanse, anything is possible. A party will soon be held on this magical ship, and you’re invited! Fabulous games, incredible prizes, and the chance to change your life await on the sea of dreams! Joining us in our voyage is really quite simple!

Rule #1 - The party aboard the Endless Expanse is a private affair that only a special few are chosen to take part in. You and you alone are to know of it.

Rule #2 - We encourage anonymity among our guests as to not complicate your relations with one another and to allow you to act freely without consequence. You will be known under an alias of your choosing upon arrival to the Port of Tomorrow.

Rule #3 - Bring only your essentials, the rest will be provided.

Rule #4 - Do not speak to the other guests before boarding the Endless Expanse.

Rule #5 - The Endless Expanse will be arriving at the station at 11 a.m. on the dot. Do not be late.

Failure to comply with these rules will make you immediately ineligible to join us. Do not waste this chance!

You look up from your invitation to see a worn down and rusted sign that reads ‘Port of Tomorrow.’ The mysterious invitation provided to you led you here with an obnoxious amount of detail, but… Is this really the ‘Port of Tomorrow’ mentioned? Beyond the gates of the port you can see the rest of the area seems to be in the same state of abandonment that the sign is. The cool sea breeze pushes gently on your back, as if urging you to move forward. You’ve already come all this way, it would be best to follow through.

You slowly walk through the gates of the Port of Tomorrow and begin to cautiously look around you. Empty shipping containers covered in plant life, cracked concrete being taken back by the Earth, and an overwhelming feeling of dread is all you notice until reaching what seems to be something incredibly out of place. A pier, brand new, with a glittering blue pole standing in front of it. As you approach, you notice a sign attached to the top of the pole pointing towards the end of the pier that reads, ‘Endless Expanse.’ So, this really is the place after all.

As you look down the pier, you notice some other guests have already seemingly arrived and you see a large staircase the currently leads to nothing. Some guests stand uncomfortably still looking around at their surroundings, others look bored, some still not quite awake. You can see words forming on the lips of some of the guests as you approach, but they quickly look away from you. That’s right. You aren’t allowed to speak to one another yet. You decide, begrudgingly for some, to keep quiet, and as you do more guests seem to arrive. 12… 13… 14… Just as the invitation had promised. Including yourself, there were now 15 people standing on the pier. You check your cell phone to see—

A loud horn wipes out your thoughts and your head jerks up to see a shape coming through the morning mist of the sea. It’s 11 a.m. The Endless Expanse has arrived.

As the ship approaches the port’s pier, you can all see a figure waving enthusiastically down at you. The Endless Expanse… It was incredible. It was a tall ship, but not incredibly long. It larger than life, but still somehow perfect for the amount of passengers that would be on board. It looked brand new and sleek, with glittering blue accents against it’s pure white body. It was unlike anything you had ever seen, and focusing on just one part of it proved to be too difficult.

When the ship came to a full stop, an opening in the deck of the ship opens and a figure approaches. It is small in frame and a little hard to see clearly from how far up it appears to be. It snaps it’s fingers and latches connect the staircase to the ship. You all hear a giggle come from it as it begins to wave enthusiastically at you.

“Honored Guests! So lovely to see you’ve all made it on time! How I love a punctual group! Now, hurry along. There is no time to waste!”

The figure, which you seem to realize now is a girl, skips back on to the deck of the ship. You and the rest of the guests look at one another for a moment before realizing… This is what you came for. Single file, each guest begins to climb the staircase on to the Endless Expanse. The deck of the ship looked like something out of an island paradise. You were finding it hard to believe you had never heard of this ship until now, until you remember Rule #1. No one could talk about the Endless Expanse once invited. It almost felt cruel.

“Honored Guests, if you could please join me on the bow of the ship! Aha, that means the front! Sea faring language is so interesting, isn’t it? Ah, do not worry about your bags! Drop them wherever you wish, and I will be sure to take care of them after introductions are complete!”

The guests all share another silent glance before heading towards the front of the ship where a cute young girl with short blonde hair waited for them. She is wearing what appears to be a sailor uniform, specifically tailored to her. Did she make it? Before you can think too much about it you hear several loud pops in a row, then suddenly you’re surrounded by color as confetti falls around you.

“Welcome… to the Endless Expanse! I am oh so glad you all accepted my invitation! I will be your lovely captain, Dorothy! But please, I insist that you call me Dot. We’re going to become such close friends, after all!”

Dot curtsied to the guests and smiled brightly. She seemed so full of life and energy. She seemed like she may be hard to keep up with.

“You are all probably thinking, ‘Hey, lady! What’s the deal with this here travelin’ machine, ehhhhhh?’ Worry not, my dear guests. All your questions will be answered in due time, but why don’t we make sure you are nice and comfortable before we begin our festivities, hm?”

She giggled and began walking through the crowd of guests. After walking a few steps on her own she turned back around and smiled.

“Come along, Honored Guests. No need to be shy. It’s a party, after all!”

She motioned for the guests to follow her. Some took her direction immediately, others hesitated, but after meeting Dot you feel a bit relieved. She comes on a bit strong, but she means well, doesn’t she? You follow the others to what appears to be a room at the stern of the ship.

“The elevator behind me can take you to any floor of the ship you desire! That being said, only the deck and the first two floors are available at the moment. I will be sure to open our other floors in time, but let’s not get overwhelmed~” She motions towards the door the group came in through, and you notice a small screen next to it. “At each entrance to a room on the Endless Expanse you will find a map. We want navigating our vessel to be as simple as possible! You can find any directions you need there, and I will be available at all times to help with anything you may need! …Within reason of course~”

Dot turned around towards the elevator and clicked on the down button gently. Her movements were perfect and practiced. She turned again towards the guests and motioned for them to enter the elevator.

“The floor below this one is where each of your suites are located! Feel free to pick any suite that feels the most comfortable and I will deliver your luggage to you as quickly as possible. For now… make yourselves at home! There is much the Endless Expanse has to offer currently. Converse with your fellow party goers, play a game, perhaps have a drink? It’s up to you! On the Endless Expanse, anything is possible!”

As she says this, you can feel the boat begin to move. You must be setting off. As if on cue, Dot moves past them and begins climbing the stairs up to a room above the elevator.

“I have much to prepare before our party begins, but I will be available anytime! Just call my name, and I’ll be sure to appear... Just like magic!”

She laughed and gave the guests a small wave before disappearing behind the large door upstairs. The guests had been left alone on the Endless Expanse to do as they wished… What will they do?

Entrants must provide all information requested to be eligible to win.

Sponsor will select one (1) winner per day during the course of the Entry Periods. All Entrants must complete the Entry requirements each day by 11:59 PM PST, until the last Entry Period on March 2, 2021. Entrants who provide Entries which violate any of these requirements may be deemed ineligible to participate in the Sweepstakes or receive the prize and their Entry or Entries may be void at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. If a winner cannot accept a prize, or any portion thereof, as stated, the prize may be forfeited or offered to another entrant at the sole discretion of Sponsor. The value of the prize represents Sponsor’s good faith determination of the maximum retail value thereof. No refunds or credit for changes are allowed. In addition, by participating in the Sweepstakes and providing an Entry, each Entrant hereby grants permission (except where prohibited by law) for Sponsor to use Entrant’s Entry, name, likeness, voice, quotes, comments, biographical information, photograph and/or image for the purpose of advertising, trade, or promotion without further notice, compensation or consideration in any and all media now known or hereafter developed throughout the universe.

9. NATURE OF RELATIONSHIP/WAIVER OF EQUITABLE RELIEF: Each Entrant understands and acknowledges that Sponsor has wide access to ideas, stories, designs, and other literary materials, and that new ideas are constantly being submitted to it or being developed by their own employees. Each Entrant also acknowledges that many ideas may be competitive with, similar or identical to the Entry and/or each other in theme, idea, format or other respects. Each Entrant acknowledges and agrees that such Entrant will not be entitled to any compensation as a result of Sponsor’s use of any such similar or identical material. Each Entrant acknowledges and agrees that Sponsor does not now and shall not have in the future any duty or liability, direct or indirect, vicarious, contributory, or otherwise, with respect to the infringement or protection of the copyright in and to the Entry. Finally, each Entrant acknowledges that, with respect to any claim by Entrant relating to or arising out of Sponsor’s actual or alleged exploitation or use of any Entry or other material submitted in connection with the Sweepstakes, the damage, if any, thereby caused to the applicable Entrant will not be irreparable or otherwise sufficient to entitle such Entrant to seek injunctive or other equitable relief or in any way enjoin the production, distribution, exhibition or other exploitation of the Entry or any other production based on or allegedly based on the Entry, and the Entrant’s rights and remedies in any such event shall be strictly limited to the right to recover damages, if any, in an action at law.

10. RIGHTS OF SPONSOR/ DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY: By entering or participating in this Sweepstakes, Entrants waive the right to claim any ambiguity or error in the Official Rules or in the Sweepstakes itself. Sponsor reserves the right to modify these Official Rules, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice or obligation for clarification purposes without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the Sweepstakes, if, in Sponsor’s sole opinion, any factor interferes with its proper conduct as contemplated by these Official Rules. Sponsor shall have the right and sole discretion to edit, to refuse to publish or cease to publish any Entry whatsoever which it finds to be in violation of these Official Rules, does not fully comply with all of Sponsor’s requirements in connection with any and all legal clearance issues, or which it finds in its sole discretion to be otherwise objectionable for any reason. Sponsor also reserves the right to replace the winning Entry with the Entry of an alternate eligible Entrant in accordance with these Official Rules if such Entry and/or Entrant is withdrawn from or removed from the Sweepstakes for any reason, including without limitation, Entrant’s failure to have documents executed as directed by Sponsor. 11. WARRANTY: It is an express condition of Entry and eligibility that each Entrant warrants and represents that Entrant’s Entry is solely owned by Entrant and solely created by Entrant for the purpose of entering this Sweepstakes, and that no other party has any rights or interest in the Entry. Entrant further represents and warrants that the Entry and any use thereof by Sponsor, and each of its’ parent companies, subsidiaries and affiliates in connection with programming, advertising, promotion and publicity, shall not infringe upon any statutory or common law copyright and shall not constitute a defamation, or invasion of the right of privacy or publicity, or infringement of any other right of any kind of any third party.

DISPUTES: This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without respect to any choice of law or conflict of law principles that would result in the application of any law other than that of California.
