Postscript. Part 3 of 3.
Loki x Sylvie "Our divorce never went through" Modern AU. Angst, Rated T.
Masterlist of my Sylki fanfics here.
---
Exactly three weeks later, Sylvie walks into his bar. Her eyes drift immediately to the counter, where she spots him bartending, and she gives him a little wave.
He waves back, dumbfounded, having no idea how to react when a scene from his dreams becomes reality. She makes her way through the crowd, and takes a seat on a stool in front of him. "One whiskey please."
"With water or something else?" He asks, trying his best to recollect himself and act professional.
She shrugs. "You already know how I like it."
He returns a moment later with her whiskey on the rocks, and she takes a long sip. The bar is busy, and he has to quickly turn his attention to the other customers.
She sits there quietly for the next two hours, watching him work, sipping her drinks, before the crowd thins and he can return his attention to her. "Hello again", she says with a grin.
"Hi." He answers with a low, nervous laugh. "How did you find this place?"
She shrugs. "You know I was always a good stalker."
"That, you were." He says with a grin, remembering the days in the college when she used to grab his phone and go through people's profiles to figure out little things about them. Blackmail Fodder, she used to call it. "So what brings you to my little corner?"
Sylvie knows that if it wasn't for the alcohol in her system from the three neat drinks she has downed, she wouldn't have the courage to say what she's about to say. "I wanted to see you again."
He feels his heart skip a beat. That treacherous thing never listens to logic when it comes to her. "Why?"
"Do I need a reason?" She asks, and orders another drink. He cuts her off, deciding she's drunk enough. He announces last call, intending to lock up early- he has already messed up at least a dozen drinks, and really, how can he focus when she's here?- and she clings to the stool, watching him close up.
He tugs on an ear nervously when it's just the two of them left inside. He has not been alone with her in an extremely long time, and he can feel his body starting to betray him, as he starts noticing how incredible she looks in her skin tight jeans and top, the outfit clearly a deliberate decision on her part. "Let me call you a cab."
"No." She protests immediately, struggling to stand up. He rushes to her side and offers her support, and she steadies herself with a hand on his shoulder. "I'm okay, I'm okay."
"Yes, clearly." He says sarcastically. He reaches for the phone in his pocket, then wonders if it's safe to leave her alone in a cab in her current state.
A very bad idea occurs to him then, one that every single one of his friends and family would scold him for if they knew. "Come with me." He urges her gently, and she follows without a question.
He takes her to his apartment upstairs, and leads her to his room, the one place where nobody except him is allowed- not his family, or friends, or the rare dates he brings over.
She stumbles inside, and the first thing she notices is the photo on his nightstand.
"Shit." He realises his mistake too late.
Sylvie stills for a moment, before walking over unsteadily and taking the photo in her hands. It's one from their honeymoon. They couldn't afford a fancy place, and had decided to take a staycation instead. It's a picture of them in their old apartment, on their old couch, sipping on coffee in their old mugs. She runs her fingers over the glass and the wooden frame, searching for the warmth that resonated in her heart during those days. "Do you still have the mugs?"
"I did, for a while... But they eventually broke." He tells her guiltily.
She can picture him smashing them into pieces out of rage, and she can picture him accidentally dropping them on the floor and being anguished over it. She's not sure which one actually happened.
"You didn't ask for anything in the divorce." He points out. Then a dark thought occurs to him. "Do you want something now?"
She blinks. "I-" she sits down on the bed, placing the photo frame back, but upside down in her inebriated state, and she lets out a bitter laugh. "I don't even want a divorce.'
His heart skips another beat, now on the verge of feeling an emotion that is dangerously close to hope. Seeing her on his bed is not helping things either. "You should get some rest."
He proceeds to leave, but she tugs at his hand and stops him. "Stay with me."
"Sylvie." He scolds. His heart beats ridiculously, and he can't get his hand free from her.
"Please?" She pouts, and his eyes automatically drift to her lips. They are soft and inviting, and he really should leave swiftly.
He steps closer to her, and places a small kiss on her forehead. "Sleep well."
He turns out the light and closes the door shut on his way out, and spends the rest of the night tossing and turning on the couch, images of Sylvie on his bed burning brightly in his head.
---
Sleep does come, around dawn, and when he wakes up it's already past eleven.
Sylvie is in the kitchen in last night's clothes, and she's making pancakes for lunch, like she always did. This is how it was, when she was his.
She gives him a small smile. "Morning."
"Mmm", he hums, picking up the newspaper from the counter, reading the headlines but registering nothing. Words seem to lose all their meaning when he's with her. He watches her go about, her movements very familiar but a distant memory at the same time. Finally, he asks. "You still haven't told me why you're here."
Sylvie tries her best to appear confident and unfazed, when inside, she feels herself shaking. "I... I felt that we left some things unsaid."
Loki winces. "Please don't tell me you want us to scream at each other some more."
She laughs, trying to ease some of the tension. "No, that's not what I mean, at all." She turns the stove off, and finally gives him her full attention. "I know I have no right to say this, and I know I have no right to ask this, or anything of you, and I know you will probably say no, and I understand, but..." She finishes her rambling, and takes in a deep breathe. "I've been kicking myself for the last three weeks for not saying this. I need to say it."
"Okay." He says quietly, ready to hear her out.
"How do you think Thor feels when he meets Sif now?"
"That's an unusual question to keep you occupied for three whole weeks." Loki notes. When he notices her waiting for an answer, he shrugs. They work together, they meet every day. It's not a big deal. "Indifferent, I suppose. That's how people feel when they move on."
"Precisely." She toys with a stray strand of fibre in her jeans. "Do you feel that way when you look at me?"
He really shouldn't answer that. He really shouldn't open himself up to a world of hurt again.
But foolishness is in his blood, and his blood has been rushing to unexpected places when she stands so close that he can smell her intoxicating perfume. He can't help himself. "No."
Her face brightens visibly, and a smile spreads across her lips, a shadow of the woman she was when they first met. "Neither do I. When I look at you, I realise how much I've missed you. How much I... I still..." She can't finish the sentence, but she doesn't need to.
His hands are clenched into a fist next to him, and he's breathing heavily. "You could have called."
"How could I?" She asks, her voice sad once again. "I walked out on you. How could I ever expect you to take me back?"
He closes his eyes, trying to push the bitterness down. "I kept calling you. For months. You never returned my calls. Not once."
"I couldn't." She places a hand on his arm, willing him to look at her. Her eyes mirror his- fearful, hopeful, and tear-stained all at once. "I couldn't go back. I wasn't ready, back then. I needed time... And I... I'm ready now."
He shakes his head. "Wow. This is unexpected."
She takes in a shaky breathe. "Loki, I know you don't owe me anything. But all these years, something has been missing from my life. I always knew, but I didn't know at the same time, if that makes any sense. When you called, and when I saw you, it finally clicked. I... I know what I've been missing. I know what I want. I really do want to try again."
"And what happens if you decide to give up again?" He wonders aloud. "Where does that leave me?"
She closes her eyes, letting the tears fall. "I've spent countless nights awake, picturing you sleeping next to some nameless woman, kicking myself for giving up. I was young, and stupid. But I'm not any of those things anymore. I will fight for us this time, I promise you." She reaches for his hand, and his grip is tight, almost painful, but he doesn't speak. "Say something, please." She begs after a while.
"I don't want to get hurt again." He says, but he tugs her closer, until his arms are wrapped tightly around her and his face is buried in her chest. His voice comes out muffled. "And for the record, I've missed you too."
Her hand finds its way into his hair, and she inhales his scent, the familiarity of it bringing her comfort. When you have love, you only need one other thing- timing. This this time around, she has a feeling they have got that right.
She doesn't know what else to say, isn't sure where to start. But she'll figure it out.
They will figure it out. Together.
"When you're young, you just run, but you come back to what you need."
(The end.)

Dark ‘n’ Stormy, Pt. 11
Summary: It’s the day after the stuffing chapter. New Asgard decides which system of government it wants. Not much smut, an awful lot of politics.
Length: 6.9k. A more sensible person than me might try to edit this down, but honestly, I feel like you’d all be horribly disappointed if I didn’t write all the words.
Warnings: Eh the usual. Kinky food stuff, smut, drinking, swearing, mental health wonkiness, Asgardian politics, body shaming, intrusive media, social media shittiness, uncomfortable family relationships, mentions of starting a family, mentions of dead characters, smutty pictures, some ridiculously long speeches that might give you feels. I think that’s it.
Notes: This chapter, quite literally, took months to write. Apologies, therefore, if it’s a bit disjointed or I contradict myself. This bad boy is now over 50k in total (!) It took a while, because I couldn’t quite decide how I wanted it to go. Also, writing a story a day for the entire year is quite time consuming and a really fucking terrible idea. Typos and errors are all my own but please alert me to anything spectacularly bad so I can fix. I’ve not given this any distance, so I am hella word-blind.
Also, one of you gets a mention :P
Need a reminder of what’s happened? Pt. 10 & the masterlist.
If you like what I do, please let me know.
It wasn’t the cockerels crowing that woke you, but the dogs excitedly greeting someone.
“Whuh time issit?” you mumbled into Thor’s hair, your hand resting on his still full tummy as you spooned the sleepy Thunder God.
“Too early.”
He wasn’t wrong. Groggily you pulled yourself away, rummaging around for something to throw on so you could investigate who your visitor was.
Opening the bedroom door, you spied the Valkyrie crouched down by the settee, rubbing Geri’s tummy.
“Why?” you asked, not really awake enough to form a proper question.
“Why what?” Valkyrie responded, continuing to fuss the dog at her feet.
“Why are you here? Now? At this godforsaken time?”
“Has Thor forsaken this time in particular?”
Your glare said it all.
“I jest, sorry. Have you been online? Checked your phone? Seen or heard the news?”
“For fuck’s sake, Brunnhilde,” you said, startling the dogs and finally rousing Thor, “I’ve literally just gotten up. Because of you. When would I have done any of that? And why does it matter?”
“I’ll make the coffee, you go get Thor.”
You’d barely turned and taken a step, when you collided with the solid mass that was your lover.
“What’s wrong? Why is the Valkyrie here?” he asked, holding you to his stomach.
“Not a fucking clue.”
You weren’t exactly a morning person. Even less so after a few cocktails, and when your awakening had been rude. Not the good kind of rude, either. Thor knew, from prior experience, that waking you unexpectedly was like deciding to disturb a wasp’s nest. Nothing good would come of it and it wasn’t something you’d likely repeat in a hurry. You were a surly, venomous grump, sure to sting whatever had disturbed you.
Either Brunnhilde was more foolhardy than he thought, or something was seriously wrong.
Brunnhilde returned to find you slouched on the settee, buried in Thor’s hoodie with the hood pulled up and over, almost to the point of covering your eyes, in a vain attempt at ignoring the world. The steaming mug of caffeine placed on the table next to you was met with a snort of derision, and it was with no small amount of trepidation that Thor sat next to you, before pulling you onto his lap. Maybe whatever had brought the Valkyrie would concern only him, and you could doze off against his chest.
“Did you enjoy your pizza last night?” Brunnhilde asked, breaking the frosty silence.
“Yes,” Thor smiled at the memory. “How did you know we had pizza?”
“That’s what brought me here. I’m sorry it’s so early.”
Why would pizza have brought her here, Thor wondered. Did she need a recipe? Did she have some left over? Was she planning to open a pizza place in New Asgard?
“Someone… someone, erm, they snapped some pictures of you. The two of you. In the restaurant. They must’ve recognised you.”
“So?” Thor queried softly, hoping that you had begun to return to sleep in his arms.
“Well, they sold them to some media people. You’re, erm, trending on Twitter. I wanted to tell you before you saw for yourselves, some of the reporting is… unflattering.”
Yeah. Thor could already picture it. Being fat and in the public eye was just a magnet for the worst kind of people.
“If they’ve worked out who Y/N is, it’s not been published yet, but it’s only a matter of time,” Brunnhilde continued.
“Ah, balls,” you said, finally joining the conversation.
“Indeed. A few months back, I asked some friends to do some digging on you. Don’t be alarmed, I just wanted to be prepared for the time when it eventually emerged that you and Thor were together. I didn’t find anything to be worried about in what they found on you, but I understand that there may be things that you’d prefer to stay private. The silence of those involved can be arranged, if you wish.”
There were certainly things in your past that you weren’t exactly proud of. You probably should’ve realised that you couldn’t stay under the radar forever.
“No, it’s ok. Don’t waste your resources, or those of your friends. I’ve been alive long enough to know that if the tabloid press thinks there’s a story, they’ll dig it up somehow. Or just make one up. I’ve done what I’ve done, and that’s the end of that. Anyone commenting on my life probably has stuff they’d rather keep secret,” you answered with a sigh.
“Very well. Do you want to read the dossier?”
“No, no. I’m sure it’s very thorough and accurate. Thor, do you want to read it?”
“Anything you wish to tell me about your past, you can tell me about yourself,” he answered, running his fingers through your hair. “Whatever you have done, it’s of no consequence. You’re here now, that’s all that matters. Some youthful follies could not reverse my love for you.”
You nuzzled your face into his chest hair to hide the tears you could feel beginning to sting your eyes.
“Is that all, Brunnhilde? May we return to bed?” Thor said.
“Yes, of course. Apologies once again for disturbing you. I just wanted you to hear it from a friend before you heard it elsewhere.”
You were fast asleep again by the time Thor gently laid you back on the bed. You must’ve been warm in his hoodie, the early rays of sunshine beginning to seep into the bedroom, but he didn’t want to disturb you. His mind was all over the place, so he decided to check the news on your tablet while you were tucked into his side.
Thor’s Hammered!
King of Ass-gard
Pizza Gut - Avenger destroys pizza buffet
Thor quickly put the tablet back down. It stung to read the words they wrote about him, but even worse was what they wrote about you. They didn’t know you, why did they get to judge you, speculate about who you were and why you were with him? You were just another name on the long list of loved ones he wasn’t able to protect.
Gingerly removing himself from your side, relieved when he didn’t wake you, Thor decided to sit back on the settee, letting Loki slither over him. The snake wasn’t as helpful as his brother, but he found it calming anyway.
15 minutes later, the sound of a message being received made him jump. Unlocking his old phone, he saw it was a message from Brunnhilde.
I know you said you didn’t want to know about Y/N’s past, but I think you might find this interesting…
There were several links at the bottom of the message. Thor didn’t want to pry, he really didn’t, but he couldn’t help but be curious as to what was that important that Brunnhilde had felt the need to send him a link.
Moving as quietly as he could, he returned to the bedroom to grab the tablet, before settling back down to see what had been sent.
Typing the address was a torturous process, his fingers weren’t quite dexterous enough to easily manipulate Midgardian devices, although he was becoming more careful with them. Still, he nearly dropped the tablet when he saw where the link took him to.
It was a gallery of pictures. Pictures of you, to be exact. You weren’t naked but it was obvious that these weren’t the kind of pictures you shared with friends or family. He’d heard about these kinds of sites, adult sites they were called. The model had a different name, but it was definitely you. No doubt about it.
Pictures of you in corsets that pushed up your breasts and cinched in your waist. Pictures of you with chokers around your throat. Some pictures where you wore clothing made of a strange material that seemed to fit you like a second skin. Some more where you wore beautiful lingerie in vibrant colours, brilliant blues and vivid violets.
The pictures on the next link were a little different. Leather gloves, ball gags, handcuffs. Fishnet stockings and knee-high leather boots. Why had he never seen any of these outfits? Carefully gripping the tablet with one hand, he moved the other inside the waistband of his pants, rubbing at the head of his excited cock.
For a split second, he considered what Brunnhilde had thought of these pictures. Had she shown them to Sif? What if they’d both enjoyed them?
His cock grew harder at the thought.
And he knew he should feel a little ashamed. You hadn’t mentioned these pictures, so it probably wasn’t something you were proud of, but he couldn’t help but look, hope that others had looked, and seen just how sexy you were.
He didn’t really understand the third link. That seemed to be a niche site. You were barely visible, clad in rain gear, and wrapped in heavy duty tape to secure you to a post.
But, Brunnhilde really had saved the best until last.
Bound, gagged, blindfolded. Eyes wide in another as you looked at the woman stroking your hair as you sat tied to the chair. If he had to be king, he’d insist on having a throne, just so he could recreate that image with you. Only, in his version, you’d be wearing a lot less clothes, his face between your thighs, eating you out until the only thing keeping you upright were the ropes that held you in your place.
It was funny. He’d not really enjoyed being in chains, in a cage, when he’d encountered Surtur. But the thought of you being bound, held captive while he pleasured you in all the different ways he knew how. Now, that was something he liked the idea of.
Freeing his cock, he began to stroke in earnest, the images he’d just seen and images of what he’d like to do to you fuelling his desire. The harder he thought of them, the harder he got, and the harder he pumped his fist.
His orgasm was explosive, and Loki hissed at him angrily. Geri and Freki perked up their ears to see what the fuss was about. He knew he should move and clean himself but he was comfy, he was relaxed, he could rest here for a moment or two.
***
Evidently it was more than a moment or two when he awoke to the sound of pans clanging around in the kitchen. There’s no way you couldn’t have seen him, and there’s no way he could pretend it was anything else. He’d fallen asleep with his cock out, the evidence crusted onto his tummy.
Tucking himself back into his pants, he approached the kitchen with caution.
“Good morning, my love,” he tried.
“Good afternoon,” you corrected. “Dare I ask?” you said, looking at his gut pointedly.
Nothing good would come of lying, so he tried his best to explain the truth.
“Ah, well, what happened was, you see, Brunnhilde sent me an electronic letter with some links on my phone. So I looked at them on the tablet,” he explained.
“Brunnhilde sent you porn?”
“Yes. I mean no. I mean maybe? The links were to pictures of you.”
“Ah,” you said, understanding. “Brunnhilde’s friends found those.”
“I suppose so, yes.”
“Well, I’m glad you enjoyed them. I enjoyed doing them.”
Thor doesn’t ask for an explanation, doesn’t press you, doesn’t tell you about his fantasies. You’ll tell him when you want to, if you want to. He’ll tell you when you’re not trying to cook avocado eggs Benedict.
“I’m going to take a shower,” he mumbles before walking off to the bathroom. He’s glad that you’re not angry or upset, but he’s still embarrassed that you caught him in that position.
The shower is cold, but not cold enough to cool him down from his thoughts. Thoughts of those photos, thoughts of last night, and thoughts of what he’d like to do with you in the future. He could probably roll around on Jötunheimr and still feel too hot.
He’s quiet during brunch, but you don’t press him. You just hold his hand, silently telling him that everything will be alright.
You’d briefly checked your phone before Thor had woken up. There were so many notifications, you were afraid it might crash, and you’d put it back down again. Today was an historic day for New Asgard, you didn’t want to overshadow it by worrying about what Twitter trolls had to say about you. It keeps buzzing on the table next to you, and you continue ignoring it.
“Are you going to check that?” Thor asked. “It might be something important.”
“I don’t really want to, I’m afraid of what I might see,” you said.
“I understand, but the longer you leave it, the worse it will be. Maybe just check if there is anything from your family. You don’t want it playing on your mind throughout the day.”
Thor’s right, and so with a resigned sigh, you picked up your phone and looked at your notifications, dismissing anything that wasn’t important.
A message from Sam on Skype that read I knew you had a thing for older men, didn’t realise you liked them THAT old ;-) now I know where you are, let me know when I can visit. Ignore the haters, they’re just jealous.
There was also an entire chain of emails from your mum, without a subject. She’d never quite gotten the hang of email.
Is this you/??>????? And then a link to a news website.
It is, isn’t it.
WHy didn’t you tell us. Where you were????
Your father is looking at flights.
He’s found some cheap ones with Ryanair, we’re coming over in a fortnight. Flying to Oslo. Charlie is coming too.
He can’t find anywhere to stay in New Asgard, are there no hotels????
Answer me.
“Ah, fuck,” you said, staring at down at your phone.
“What’s the matter?” Thor asked, worried that you’d seen something critical of you.
“My family knows where I am now, they’re coming to visit,” you mumbled. “In two weeks.”
“That’s wonderful news, I can’t wait to meet them,” Thor said, kissing your hand.
“Yeah,” you said doubtfully. You loved your family, but they could be tricky at times. They were hurt, of course, by your vagueness on the subject of your whereabouts. You already knew they were going to make some unintentionally hurtful comments, either about Thor, or about Alex, or both. They were also likely to do the same about you.
“Two weeks,” Thor mused, still enthusiastic about the prospect of meeting your family. “I think that gives me sufficient time to build a place for them to stay.”
It was lovely that he was excited by the prospect, but you groaned internally. Something told you that Thor was not going to have time for much if the vote went the way you thought it would.
“I’ll tell them we can accommodate them somewhere,” you said, firing off a quick email. “Now, let’s forget about this and focus on the task at hand. Brunnhilde wanted us there no later than two, that only gives us an hour.”
***
At 2:10 you arrived at the mead hall, Thor in his full regalia, you in the dress he’d gifted you for the May Day feast. Geri and Freki loping along behind you. You went to add the one remaining cake to the long table of food, while Brunnhilde intercepted Thor.
“Is everything alright, after this morning?” she asked him.
“Yes, I think so. Y/N is strong, although her family have elected to visit. That seems to have shaken her,” Thor sighed.
“It must be hard to face someone you thought was dead, even if you love them, once you’ve been through the grieving process,” Brunnhilde noted.
“It is.” Thor knows it’s hard, he went through it enough times with Loki, but he’d do anything to have his brother back. Or his mother, father.
There are flowers everywhere. Bouquets on tables, bunting hanging from the rafters, and people everywhere with flower crowns on their heads. Thor’s pleased with how well they’ve turned out. He makes a note to thank everyone involved, as well as to the plants for blooming so abundantly for him. There was something very satisfying about growing things and tending to them, becoming one with nature.
He’s not surprised when you return with a flower crown, plus one each around the dog’s necks. He doesn’t think they’ll last long, which is why he’d made sure to cultivate flowers that wouldn’t make the dogs sick when they inevitably tried to eat them. Thor particularly likes how you look with your flower crown. He’s seen you wear one before, of course, but they really do suit you. He hopes that if he has to be king, then perhaps one day you’ll wear a different kind of crown.
“Hello, Brunnhilde. Apologies for our lateness. I didn’t grab a crown for you but if Thor doesn’t want this one, I’m sure you can have it,” you offered, holding out the wreath.
“That’s quite alright, I’m not really one for crowns,” Valkyrie answered with a small shake of her head. “I’ll leave you two to mingle, just don’t be late for the vote announcement.”
“We won’t,” Thor assured her, knowing full well that they won’t start without him. “I fear this may not be the only crown I accept today,” he continues, taking the flowers from you and placing them on his head.
“I’m sorry,” you said, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips. “I’ll support you, no matter the outcome.”
Thor knows this, and he’s glad of it. He’s still not comfortable with being in charge, quite content with his life, building things, tending to the plants, and playing with his animals. But at least he doesn’t have to do it alone. After Loki died, he was so very alone. Korg and Miek were great, but there was something missing in his life, a much closer form of companionship that he’d finally found again.
“Let us mingle, I’m sure there are many children who will be glad to pet the dogs,” Thor said, looping his arm with yours at the elbow.
*** By the time it gets to the hour of the announcement, Geri and Freki have had their bellies rubbed by seemingly every child in New Asgard, much to their delight.
A little boy had brought you a small posy of flowers, and was extra pleased when Thor held him in his strong arms and let the child place the flowers in Thor’s beard. It’s very haphazard, and a little one-sided but Thor’s pleased with the end result, when you show him in your pocket mirror.
It makes him ache desperately to have a child - well, children - of his own. He thinks about what kind of uncle Loki would’ve been.
Hopefully he wouldn’t have stabbed them.
It’s too hot in the mead hall. Thor’s been trying to drink slowly, aware that he’s drinking out of nerves more than anything.
Dutch courage, you’d called it. Allegedly, Dutch soldiers had drunk jenever before going into battle. Thor considered that a little risky. Drinking was best done after battle, being clumsy while handling a weapon didn’t strike him as the best strategy. Then again, it seemed to work fine for Brunnhilde. It didn’t really happen to him, but supposed many people got nervous before a fight.
Thor knew you had a Dutch friend, a teacher. He wondered if they might bring jenever with them if they ever came to visit?
Bruce came over, crowds of Asgardians parting easily for his bulky frame.
“Hey buddy,” he said, hugging Thor. “Are you ready?”
“About as ready as I’ll ever be,” Thor answered. A few years ago, he’d thought he was ready. Had almost been crowned king.
He never thanked Loki for royally screwing that up. It was only now, with hindsight, that he could appreciate the favour his brother had inadvertently done him.
“It’s time,” Bruce told Thor, throwing an arm around his shoulders. Thor looks back at you, but you shake your head. This is an Asgardian matter. Your place is at the back with Geri and Freki, not onstage with Asgard’s elite.
“Do you know?” Thor asked Bruce, desperately.
“No Thor. Even if I did, I couldn’t tell you,” Bruce noted. “Whatever happens, you have people that care about you. It won’t be like it was before.”
Thor joins Valkyrie, Sif and several others onstage. Bruce waves his hands, dampening down the crowd that buzzes like a hornet’s nest. Despite all the assurances, this is still a volatile situation and Bruce says a silent prayer that everything works out for the best.
“Thank you all,” Bruce addressed the crowd. “Thank you for trusting in the process and for allowing us, as outside observers, to count all of your votes. No system will be perfect, but we hope that you will all respect the outcome, whatever it may be. It took three rounds of voting for an option to gain over 50% of the vote. I’ll now hand over to Captain America, who has the results.”
Bruce steps down, stands to the right hand side of the stage as Sam steps forward. Anticipation builds around the room, like static during a storm. Sif holds hands with both Thor and Valkyrie, holding in a breath as she waits to see which of the people she cares about most will draw the short straw of heading Asgard.
She fervently hopes that the people will have chosen another option, but she doubts it. Most Asgardians fell on one side of the divide or the other - traditionalists who wanted to continue the existing royal family, and those who felt that Brunnhilde was the best leader amongst those left.
“Thank you, Bruce,” Sam said, grateful that someone the Asgardians were familiar with had addressed them first. “The result is very close, but let me assure you, it is accurate. We counted every single ballot ten times, just to ensure there was no discrepancy. With 50.8% of the vote, the people of Asgard have chosen the option of an octarchy.”
The room erupted with people cheering, complaining, or otherwise chatting with people about what it all meant. Sam waited for the commotion to die down before continuing.”
“Furthermore, the proposed solution, as outlined within the election materials is that Thor, son of Odin.” Sam paused, Thor’s full title sounding odd coming out of his mouth, but that was what the piece of paper he was holding said. “Thor, son of Odin, shall rule as king, and head of state.”
Thor paled visibly and your heart went out to him, glad that Sif was holding his hand.
“Succession will be a matter of blood, as it has always been, unless Thor shall have no issue. In that event, the people of Asgard will once again convene to decide how they wish to be governed. Brunnhilde, of the Valkyrior, shall serve as his second in command. She will rule in his absence or if he is incapacitated, if Thor does not have an heir of legal age.”
Sam shook his head. He shouldn’t have let Bucky write the speech, he should’ve known his metal-armed partner would try to stitch him up with flowery Asgardian language. Out of the corner of his eye, he can see Bucky smirking, standing next to Bruce. Sam makes a mental note to put on his suit later, pick Bucky up, and drop him in the North Sea.
“The other six members of the council will be chosen as follows. Thor, son of Odin, and Brunnhilde, of the Valkyrior, shall each choose one. Two more shall be elected by the people of Asgard. The final two shall be selected at random in a lottery of all citizens who have come of age. These positions shall be reviewed every ten years, unless circumstances, or the will of the people dictate otherwise.”
The place descends into chaos, even the dogs start barking at all the noise, and it only stops when the valkyrie gets to the front of the stage and lets out an ear-piercing screech. Everyone stops what they’re doing and looks at her, wincing.
“Settle down everyone, settle down,” she shouted. “I respect this result, just as I said I would, and I pledge to serve both Asgard and its king to the best of my ability, as long as I am able to do so. I would like to thank you for your trust and patience during the time in which I served as Asgard’s caretaker. I know that not all of you were happy with the situation, but I hope I served you well. There is one among us, who I would like to nominate for inclusion on the council. However, I am aware that some of you may feel it is a conflict of interests. As many of you are aware, the Lady Sif and I are in love. She is my nomination if you will accept her.”
Raucous applause erupts. Sif is well liked, and most people are pleased to have her helping to steer Asgard’s course, even if she’s a little too eager to head into battle at times.
“Very well, I thank you all for your trust,” the valkyrie continued. “While I have the floor, there is one more thing I wish to do. I was going to do it later, but I think now is best, to declare my love in front of all those I serve.”
This time it’s Sif’s turn to go pale, as the Valkyrie sinks to her knees, turning back to Sif.
“Lady Sif,” Brunnhilde began. “I have lived long and travelled far, and there is no beauty that can compare to yours. Your love shines brighter than any star, and I am a better person for you sharing it with me. I have no title or riches to give you. This is but a small trinket, for I have already given you the greatest gift I have to give, which is my heart. I would be honoured if you would accept this ring as a token of my love, as is the custom on much of Midgard, and agree to be my wife.”
Sif is openly sobbing, and Thor’s not sure he’s ever seen her cry before. Scores more around the room wipe away tears as Sif slowly moves forward, allowing the Valkyrie to slip the ring onto her finger. Once it’s in place, Sif takes Brunnhilde’s hands and pulls her up, embracing her tightly and kissing her fiercely to a chorus of cheers.
It’s a wonderful sight, and you’re glad that there’s something for Asgard to celebrate, even if the vote didn’t go everyone’s way. Your throat goes dry as Thor nervously makes his way to the front of the stage to speak.
“Hello everyone. Apologies if I seem nervous, it has been many years since I last addressed so many,” he said, fiddling with the hem of his cloak. It’s far too hot to be wearing it, but he’d insisted that this was an important occasion and that he should dress accordingly.
“My congratulations to the Lady Sif and the Lady Brunnhilde. Theirs is an excellent union, and I wish them an eternity of happiness together.”
Thor waits until the cheering dies down before continuing.
“I, too, respect and honour the results of this vote. No man can outrun his destiny, and it seems mine will always be to rule Asgard as its king, even though I feel ill-equipped to do so. Fate apparently wills it so. I have not led Asgard well these last few years, and I apologise for that from the bottom of my heart. I have been remiss in my duties. I know that some of you do not trust that I have changed, but I give you my solemn word that I have. That I will act for the good of Asgard, and the other eight realms, as long as there is life in my breast.”
The entire room draws a collective gasp as Thor sinks to one knee. Panic sets in. This can’t be happening. Surely he’s not about to propose as well?
“I kneel before you, as your humble servant,” Thor continued, and you sighed in relief. “Too long, the people of Asgard have knelt before the throne. No more. I kneel before you all, and ask for your forgiveness. I am not the man I was, but I hope with time, that I will become someone better, someone worthy of the position that I find myself in.
“Asgard is not a place, it is a people. My father told me that, and I see now how true it is. I thank each and every one of you for trusting and believing in Asgard, in each other, when I did not trust or believe in myself. Together, you have created something strong and beautiful. I thank you for sharing it with me. You have rebuilt, you have shown incredible strength and fortitude.
“I am sorry for abandoning you. It is the most dishonourable and cowardly thing I have ever done. I asked the Valkyrie to rule in my stead, because I felt she was the best person for the job. I am truly sorry for abandoning Asgard in her hour of need. Thank you, all of you. Thank you for preserving our traditions and stories. Thank you for building a new home for us all. Thank you to everyone who has helped today. Baking delicacies, creating flower crowns, playing music. All that you do, on this day and every day, to ensure that we survive, that our culture survives, is appreciated by me.
“I hope to be able to thank you all individually, but please understand, it may take me some time. I kneel before you, as your king, humbled by the faith you still place in me. I shall work to rule as a king of the people, not above them. The throne should not be an untouchable pedestal on which I am put.
“Although I do not have a crown, I kneel before you, ready to serve Asgard, completely and unreservedly.”
“About your crown,” a voice called from the stunned crowd, as all eyes turned to look at Lorelei. She walked slowly through them, people parting for her, before she stopped in front of the stage, directly in front of Thor.
“When Hela attacked, many of us realised that Asgard was in peril. As we fled the city, some of us gathered up important artefacts. I apologise for keeping this from you, your majesty, but there never seemed to be an opportune moment…” she trailed off, reaching into a leather satchel, slung low against her hip.
Several people fainted, as with trembling hands, she pulled a crown from it.
“My-my father’s crown,” Thor mumbled, stunned.
“Yes, your majesty,” Lorelei explained. “I apologise again for keeping it secret, but you had already lost so much, I did not wish to remind you of your father. I have kept it safe, all these years. I believed that one day, you would be restored to the throne. I believed that day would be today.”
With trembling fingers, she reaches out the crown as Thor lowered his head. Tears were running down his face, into his beard, for everyone to see as he sat back up, slowly rising to his feet.
A collective sense of shock reverberated around the room, and you anxiously stroked your two dogs, who sat flanked you on either side.
“Thank you, good Lady Lorelei. This truly is an extraordinary gift. I thought I would never see this again, let alone wear it. I do wonder, now, what else was saved from Asgard, but that is a matter for another time,” Thor advised. “I have but one more matter to discuss, before it is time to feast. There is much to celebrate this day, and I hope it is one that will long be remembered.”
Thor paused, taking a moment to look around the hall. His friends, his people looking up at him. It filled him with a tiny spark of confidence that everything would work out fine this time, unlike when he had told Loki it would, all those years ago, after Asgard was destroyed.
“Like the Lady Brunnhilde, I too have someone I wish to nominate to the council. Like her, this person is one who is very dear to me,” he noted, looking across the heads of everyone to look you in the eye.
Thousands of heads turned to face you as you froze, wishing the ground would swallow you up.
“I wish to nominate the Lady Y/N. She has done so much for Asgard, though her time with us has been short so far,” Thor admitted. “As an outsider, I believe she has much knowledge and wisdom to offer us about Midgard, its people, and their customs. Her counsel is invaluable to me, and I would like to offer her a place at this table, if there are no objections.”
Deathly silence descends, everyone waiting for someone to say something.
“A wise appointment, your majesty,” Leifr spoke up, and a chorus of cheers echoed around the room.
“It is settled then,” Thor exclaimed happily. “The other four positions shall be determined in due time, but now I say it is time to eat, drink, and dance our fill. There is much to celebrate as we enter into a proud new chapter in Asgard’s history.”
Everything was a blur for several hours as you try to process exactly what’s happened. Thor being king again was something you expected, and he seems to be taking it well. His speech was genuinely moving and you could see many Asgardians visibly softening to him as he spoke.
But appointing you to be one of Asgard’s eight rulers?
No. No no no. This could not be happening. You didn’t belong here, didn’t want that kind of responsibility.
Judging by the way people keep congratulating you, it definitely is happening. You barely have an appetite, pushing your food around, eating small amounts whenever Thor prompts you to try this dish or that.
It had been a productive few hours for the other three newly instated rulers. Between them, they’d managed to hash out a plan for getting the other council members appointed. They’d even found time to draft a press release with Pepper, covering the events of the day. The world media would be taken aback. New Asgard had never released any information before. Along with the details of the election, Pepper had made sure to note that the new rulers would be willing to engage with journalists going forward to ensure transparency about what the kingdom was doing, but that they would not interact with any outlet that did not respect Asgardian privacy or engaged in hurtful gossip about them.
Apparently, the prince of another country, and his wife, had done something similar a few years prior.
You sit completely zoned out, a zombie. Utterly alone while surrounded by people. Geri and Freki lie protectively at your feet, aware that something is wrong.
Even Thor can sense that something is amiss. You’re paying no attention to him eating increasingly absurd portions. He even mentioned that he was getting full and you just nodded politely, a slightly vacant smile plastered to your face. You didn’t even try to touch his stomach, where it sat pressed up against the table.
Eventually, Sam manages to make his way over, whispering in Thor’s ear. You’re dimly aware that they’re talking about you, by the way Thor keeps glancing nervously in your direction.
“Let us go for a walk,” he said, standing up and tugging at your elbow. “Young Sam said that you look like you could do with some fresh air.”
Moving on autopilot you follow him, Geri and Freki loping along behind you. He leads you down to the beach, the sun setting in the distance as Thor gently maneuvers you into sitting down on a driftwood log.
“Are you quite alright?” Thor asked, running his fingers up your bare arms as he crouched awkwardly in front of you. “You seem distant, distracted.”
“This is all just very overwhelming,” you said, looking at your hands where they rested in your lap.
“I agree, much has happened today. We can return home, if you wish?”
“Why did you appoint me to the council?” you whispered, voice shaking. “I don’t know if I’ll still be here in ten years. What if we split up? I don’t belong here, I’m not Asgardian. I don’t want this responsibility, I’m not qualified, I don’t want to do this.”
Thor’s heart sank and he let out a sad sigh, finally sitting on the soft sand, his hefty stomach making it hard to keep his balance while he crouched. He’d done it again. He’d thought only of what he wanted and hadn’t consulted you. He’d upset you, ruining your evening.
“I’m so sorry,” he said, tipping your chin up to make you look at him. “That was thoughtless and selfish of me, I should have consulted you before announcing my plan. Today has been trying for you, and you were already anxious and upset. I’m truly sorry for burdening you further.”
“I know you didn’t mean to Thor, but I’m so scared and sad.”
“Oh my love, no. I really am such an oaf,” Thor said sadly, pulling you into the small amount of lap he had left. If he kept on like this, he was going to really struggle to hold you like this soon.
He wants to kiss your lips, to kiss away all the hurt and worry he sees in your eyes, to kiss it better like his mother used to kiss his and Loki's scrapes and grazes. But he lets you bury your face in his shoulder. All he can do is cuddle you while you cry, chest heaving against his, while he rubs little circles onto your back, mumbling apologies all the while.
“I’m so sorry. I never meant to upset you, to make you scared or anxious. I can see that I was mistaken, even though I only meant it as a good thing, as a compliment to your character and your intelligence. I truly know of no other in the whole of Asgard more capable than you, not even Brunnhilde,” Thor explained. “You are wise for one so young, and far more learned than any of us when it comes to this land we find ourselves in. Please, allow me to apologise unreservedly for the hurt I’ve caused. Allow me to make it right, allow me to pick another to serve in your place.”
You're so silent, shaking in his arms. It hurts Thor in a way he’s not felt since his father banished him. What if he's finally gone too far? What if this is the thing that pushes you away from him?
It scares him more than the thought of Thanos returning once more.
“A trial,” you said softly, as you raise your head.
“Pardon?” Thor asked.
“Until the end of the year, I will serve for a trial period. But if at the end of that time, I still don’t want to do it, then you must replace me, without any reservations.”
“Of course, of course. Are you absolutely sure?”
“No,” you admit. “But I am willing to try. I trust you. I trust you not to force me into anything I can’t handle. I’m humbled that you and your people have accepted me, and are prepared to give me this chance. I know it’s a great honour. So I will try to repay that trust that you have, I will try to serve Asgard, even if it doesn’t come easily to me.”
“No one who seeks power or has it come easily to them should ever be allowed to wield it,” Thor noted, rubbing his nose against yours. “Thank you, my love for agreeing to try this. I will honour your request should you change your mind at any point. I admit, I was scared that I had lost you, that my foolishness had driven you away.”
“You’ll have to do more than that to get rid of me,” you laughed wetly, wiping your face on the back of your hand.
“That’s good news, although I hope never to test that theory,” Thor told you, relieved. “Do you wish to return to the hall? I’m sure you could persuade me to have some more wine and sweet treats. As you can see, I am not quite at capacity,” Thor teased, moving your hands under his tunic to touch his taut tummy.
“I think I would like to head home. I’m emotionally exhausted and I just want to faceplant into your tummy and go to sleep.”
“Also an excellent plan,” Thor admitted, standing up with your still in his arms.
“I’m not too tired to walk,” you tried to insist, looking down at your bemused dogs as they trailed alongside the gentle giant carrying you.
“I know that, I just wanted to hold onto you some more.”
Thor’s going to be extra affectionate for the next little while, still reeling from the feeling of almost losing you. Now he finally has something to lose again, he’s resolutely determined not to let it happen.

Unforeseen Chasm (Part 5)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count: 2313
Warnings: Language, slight violence
Note: **New Note**
****Parts 1-5 were background information and helped to set up the story so that you as the audience can understand how the reader ends up where she does.
Part 6 of this series is when the story shifts.
Part 12 will kickstart a series of events that set a mood the rest of the entire fic series.
So please bear with the story. It may start out slow, but we did this to build relationships, dynamics, understandings...
Thor 1 is one of the FEW MCU films that we detailed. Many of the MCU films will not be this detailed and take up so many chapters. A lot of our content will take place outside of the MCU films, the gaps between the films. We didn't really want to just "rewrite" the MCU movies. Nothing in this series is filler. Every word has a purpose, every scene a reason.****
This is a collaboration with the amazing @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo. It follows from Thor 1 to Endgame in the MCU. Some of the timelines may be off in order to fit certain people, and some characters may show up earlier or in different ways than they have in the movie. But for the most part, it follows the MCU. It also has a bit of crossover with some other Marvel characters throughout the story.

You awoke early, surprisingly. Perhaps you were too excited to head back with Shannon, or maybe you were still reeling from meeting Thor. Whatever it was, you were up and making breakfast for the whole crew. Thor sat at the table talking to Darcy, Erik, and Shannon while you hummed a favorite song of yours. You weren’t sure where you’d heard it, or how long ago. All you knew was that it was a song from your childhood and it always seemed to comfort you.
Suddenly, Thor was standing next to you.
“Oh, hey Thor. How do you like your eggs? Do you eat eggs?” you asked.
“That song, where do you know it from?” he demanded.
“What?” you asked, frowning. “Oh, uh, I don’t know. I’ve just always sort of, known it, why?”
“I know it, from my youth. My mother used to sing me that when I felt ill.”
You laughed. “Thor that’s absurd. We couldn’t possibly have the same music on Earth as on Asgard,” you stated, shaking your head.
With a loaded tone, he said, “I know.”
Before he could dwell on it further though, a sudden knock came at the door, making you two turn. You saw four burly warriors that seemed entirely too happy.
“Found you!” the largest one said with a giddy wave.
Your jaw dropped before Thor raced over and embraced the people. “My friends!” he proclaimed. “This is good!”
“I don’t believe it! Oh, excuse me. Lady Sif, and the warriors three,” the largest one said with a slight bow, introducing themselves to you all.
“My friends, I have never been happier to see anyone. But you should not have come.”
“We’re here to take you home.”
“You know I can’t go home. My father is… dead because of me. I must remain in exile.”
The lady known as Sif frowned and said, “Thor, your father still lives.”
Thor’s face morphed into that of confusion and you approached.
“I thought you said that your father died,” you questioned.
“That’s what Loki told me,” he informed, looking at you, his own confusion washing over his face.
“So what does this all mean?” you asked, concerned for your friend.
“I’m not sure but--”
A loud noise interrupted Thor’s thoughts. Glass and metal shattering hit the air, as did a large thud.
“The hell was that?” you asked, but when you looked straight down mainstreet from inside the lab, you could clearly see it -- a large mechanical destroying machine. He had a beam of fire? Energy? Some form was leaving him and slicing through everything, flipping cars, cutting through buildings.
“That’s my father’s Destroyer,” Thor remarked with a frown. All of you headed outside to get a better look. Thor quickly turned to all of you. “Jane, you have to leave.”
“What are you gonna do?” she asked as she watched him walk towards his friends.
“I’m staying here.”
“Thor is gonna fight with us!” the large warrior announced, clearly glad to have his friend fighting with him.
“My friends, I’m just a man. I’ll only be in the way, or worse get one of you killed. But I can help get these people to safety.”
“If you’re staying, so are we,” you adamantly stated, looking to Jane who gave a firm nod. Another glance to the other side of you, where Shannon stood and she affirmed as well.
With that, everyone began trying to get citizens to safety while Thor’s friends worked to try and end the Destroyer. Eventually, you and Shannon stood back away from the firefight. The warriors were getting defeated, horribly, and there wasn’t anything you could do. Shannon’s powers in this case were of no help, so all you could do was stand and watch as it hurt these warriors, and tore through the little town.
That was, until, Thor told the others to stand down. He told the warriors to return to Asgard, to stop his brother. The wounded warriors and the research team started to leave before you saw that Thor dropped his shield. You broke free from the group and stared.
“Wait… What’s he doing?” you asked, turning back to Jane and Shannon, and even the warriors. You needed some kind of answer, but no one had one to offer.
As he walked toward the formidable machine, he seemed to be talking, but what he was saying you weren’t sure. The Destroyer disengaged its system, seemed to stand down, as it turned around. But then suddenly, it backhanded Thor hard and sent him flying, an ugly crack coming from his body.
“No!” you gasped, running toward the flying form of your new friend. Thor landed hard on his back and you were quick to his side, as was Jane.
“It’s over,” he promised, looking to you two.
“No, it’s not over,” Jane said and all you could do was look at him, your heart breaking for a man you’d only known a couple of days.
“I mean… you’re safe now.”
With that, he breathed his last breath and a strangled noise came from you as you stood there, looking down on a man you called friend. Jane started to cry as well, begging against the powers that be. Shannon was about to make her way over to you, to console you, but suddenly, a noise hit the air.
All of you looked towards it. It was the hammer. The hammer was soaring through the air at incredible speeds. Selvig ran over to grab Jane, but you were left standing beside Thor, as if awaiting impact of the hammer.
But nothing happened -- well, not to you.
The hammer came within four feet of your head, but it was held in Thor’s tight grasp as he seemed to regain life. Lightning struck all around him, and all around you. Before your very eyes, he got a new outfit. Armor encompassed his body, a cape flowed off his back, and his wounds were healed.
Before you could say a word, however, Thor sent Mjolnir at the Destroyer twice, then summoned a mighty storm, before bringing the machine into it, where he used the Destroyer’s power against it, causing it to implode on itself.
Thor landed, walking over to Jane where they talked briefly before SHIELD arrived, stating they were returning all of her work and equipment. Thor asked if you, Jane, and Shannon would see the Bifrost portal. You nodded fervently and Jane said she’d love to see it. With that, he grabbed Jane while the rest of you piled into either Jane’s camper or Shannon’s car and went to the site where you first met Thor.
Once all of you converged, he spoke to Jane for a quick moment then turned to you.
“Lady Y/N, may I have a moment?” he requested kindly.
“Uh, sure,” you answered, frowning a bit.
“Jane, Lady Shannon. Would you mind if I spoke to Lady Y/N alone?” he asked.
“Not at all,” Jane said before stepping away.
“Sure,” Shannon permitted.
When you and Thor took a few more steps away from them, Thor turned to you and began. “Lady Y/N, there is no easy way to say this, so I will say it. I think you’re Asgardian. I believe you have Asgardian blood in you and… to be frank, I’d like you to return with me.”
“What about Jane?” you asked, gesturing to your colleague. He seemed to favor her more than you.
“I will return for Jane, but right now, I feel it’s important you come back with me. I need to see what my brother is doing. You’re of Asgardian descent, I know this in my bones. When I look at you, I see the aura that surrounds all Asgardians. I would like your assistance in this matter. You seem to already know a great deal about my family from your studies, and you somehow know the lullaby my mother used to sing me. I feel there are answers we must find, don’t you agree?”
“Yes, but… I’m… I live on Earth. I have friends, a life here… I can’t just go back to Asgard with you,” you tried. “When will I come back, anyway?”
“With hope, in a few days time, once we have all our questions answered. I will return for Jane, and I will bring you back. Forgive me if I am wrong, but you’ve felt it too, since I’ve arrived. There is some connection between you and I, and I feel you long to know why as well.”
You chewed your lip. He had you there. And the curiosity side of you, the scientific side of you didn’t want to say no.
“What do you say, Y/N? Will you join me in Asgard to find the answers we seek?”
You glanced back to your research team, to Shannon, and then back to Thor. “I will join you.”
“Splendid.”
“Let me just tell my friend goodbye? She is like a sister to me,” you explained.
“Of course.”
Thor stepped over to Jane, to tell her goodbye while you stepped over to Shannon. It only took a blink of an eye to feel the lump growing in your throat, suddenly realizing once you got to Asgard, you wouldn't see Shannon. There would be no Skype calls, no texts, no emails. And who knew for how long? Thor said a few days, but it sounded like Loki was determined to kill him, so that may not be an option.
But… you had to know. There was a past to you. There was something awakened inside you since Thor had shown up, and you had to know what it was.
“So... uh, Thor wants me to go back to Asgard with him. Uh, here's my recorder that I promised you. Take whatever you need from it. Or whatever Stark needs. I hope you find it helpful,” you said, your voice trembling as you handed over your device.
She took it with a concerned face, holding the recorder close to her chest as her eyes bored into yours. “Are you sure about this?”
You waited a moment, glancing back to Thor. When you looked back at Shannon, you took her hand and squeezed it. “I’m sure. I can’t explain it but--”
Shannon nodded, cutting you off. “It’s okay, I get it… Just be careful, Y/N. We’re practically sisters, I can’t lose you and not know…”
It was your turn to nod. “I know, I know,” you insisted, choking a sob down.
“Well, here.” She took her phone out and gave it to you. “Here’s my phone to take pictures of whatever you can. I’d love to be able to see what you find.”
“I will,” you vowed before yanking her into a tight hug, gripping her hard against you. “I’m going to miss you so much.”
“Oh, Y/N, it hurts me to see you leave but I know that this is something you’ve always dreamed of.” She took a deep breath and gazed up, to try and stop the flow of tears.
Guilt clenched your heart, but you knew she supported you. Besides, she had Tony and Bruce and a myriad of others to keep her company in your absence.
“I wish I could go with you but Tony needs me to run through some things for him and with the recorder you gave me, I have everything I need for why I came out here in the first place.”
You nodded, giving her a soft smile. “I wish you could go too. But I'll be back soon. As soon as I can be... I hope to find all the answers to my questions…”
“And hopefully when you get them we can process through them together, like always.”
You embraced once more before Shannon glanced back to Thor, letting go of you before thrusting her head back, signaling for Thor to come over to her.
“Yes, Lady Shannon?” Thor asked, as he approached.
“Please, call me Shannon. I wanted to know if there is any way that I could be in contact with Y/N if anything were to happen or if I can just check on her?”
“It may be the only thing I have to offer, but a small portal that a raven could fly through,” Thor stated.
“Thank you, Thor, it’ll give me some peace of mind. Will you plan to come back to earth any time soon? If you do I would be glad to show you around New York.”
"I shall return as quickly as I can," he promised with a smile. "I'm sure this York of New is lovely. For now I must return home and see what my brother has done to the kingdom. I thank you for all your help and allowing me to return with Y/N.”
“You’re welcome. Treat her right, and have a safe journey,” Shannon said before Thor stepped onto the portal spot, joining the warriors before he called out for Heimdall. In a flash, Shannon was behind you, her arms wrapped around you, “I’m going to miss you, Y/N/N.”
You touched her arm and whispered, “And I you.”
She let you go, and stepped away.
You braced for something, for what, you weren’t sure. You tensed all of your muscles and soon, a bright, rainbow light engulfed your senses. You thought you could wave goodbye but by the time you realized what was happening, you were being launched up.
Before you knew it, the portal was open and you were being sucked up. The feeling was terrifying, being weightless, not knowing where you were going or what would happen to you once you got there. But in another odd sense, it felt as if you were heading home. The closer you got to this mystery destination, the more powerful and energized you felt.

CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: 36/?
AUTHOR: nekoamamori ORIGINAL IMAGINE:
Imagine that you are Stark’s niece and you secretly share a strong relationship with Loki since he entered the crew. One day you get hurt so bad during a mission that you are about to die.  Loki knows a spell that will save you and share his immortality with you but you and he will be linked forever sharing thoughts, pain, emotions…
RATING: T NOTES/WARNINGS:  Also on AO3 click here
You woke to the feel of magic in the air.  You were terrified for a moment that this was a nightmare since you didn’t remember Loki spelling you to sleep. You had fallen asleep in a pile of bodies, pillows, and blankets. You sat up, earning a grumble from Pepper when she was moved. You sighed in relief. Pepper and your super friends wouldn’t be in a nightmare from Balder. You made your way to your feet, still looking for where the feel of magic was coming from. You shook Loki awake, surprised he was sleeping through it. His eyes snapped open when you shook him. He jumped to his feet too once he felt the magic.  You  stepped around the bodies of your friends to the other end of the common room where the feel of magic was coming from.
An instant later a portal opened in front of you. You drew a dagger and a fireThor in an instant. Loki had a dagger and a bolt of magic ready too. A figure stepped through the portal. It was Thor. You and Loki both vanished your weapons the moment you realized it was him. You hugged Thor the second the portal snapped shut behind him. /Thor! What are you doing here?/ Thor swung you around, like he hadn’t seen you in ages, even though it had only been a day.
“Mother sent me to spend the day with you. She said today is your actual birthday, and sent you with a gift,” Thor explained, setting you back on your feet. He then hugged Loki and swung him around too. Loki’s curses and your laughter woke your friends.
Most of them groggily greeted Thor and filed off to their own beds to finish out the night there. It was only around 3am. Tony and Pepper stayed with us, though. “Pepper, you can go up to bed,” Tony told Pepper, who was being carried by Tony. Pepper’s tail was dragging almost to the floor. Pepper just made a small mewing noise and shifted more comfortably in Tony’s arms. Tony just sighed.
“What gift did Mother send you with?” Loki asked Thor, curious. Neither of you asked how Frigga had known. She could see the future after all, and always seemed to find the exact thing people needed at any given moment.
“A spell that I am not allowed to share with you, Brother,” Thor answered, though hesitantly. It was rare for Loki not to be allowed to learn new magic. “It has been cast, it just needs one final thing to activate. It is also only for today,“ he explained. "Sister, may I have a dagger?” Thor asked pleasantly. You handed yours to him without a thought. It was Thor after all.
“Blood magic?” Loki demanded indignantly. Blood magic was not allowed. It was outlawed on Asgard and Loki wasn’t even allowed to learn it.
Thor shrugged. “I do not presume to understand such things,” Thor hedged. He looked to me. “Mother’s gift is for your voice. For the day. She is close to finding a proper cure. I volunteered to help. I wish to spend your birthday with you, little sister,” you nodded and gave him a hug. “Please do not deny Mother’s gift. She would be quite disappointed.” You nodded again, but knew that there was a price to it, if he was telling you not to deny it. He was wisely not telling you what it was.  He knew you too well.
“Brother, no. Blood magic is forbidden,” Loki protested firmly.
“Mother has insisted,” Thor replied. Before Loki could protest again, Thor grabbed your wrist, flipping your hand over to see your palm. You bit back a noise of pain when he dragged the dagger across the skin of your palm. Tony and Loki both hissed in anger and took a step forward. Thor quickly sliced his own palm open, then placed his bleeding hand on top of yours so your blood mixed. He murmured one word, softly enough that Loki wouldn’t be able to hear it. You felt and saw the magic flare. Thor nodded when the magic faded.
“It’s…done?” you asked hesitantly, your voice cracking slightly with disuse. No one passed out. None of them were bleeding from their ears. You leapt for Thor and wrapped your arms around his neck. “Thank you!” you exclaimed.
Loki came over to the pair of you. “That was stupid, Thor,” he commented. “Children, let me see your hands,” he ordered. You both held out your still bleeding palms.  It wasn’t like Loki to call you children.  He must’ve been really upset.
You saw Thor’s glare and caught his thoughts. You’re one to talk, little brother. Thor didn’t have telepathy, but he grew up with at least two telepaths, and had learned to communicate with them, the same was you had when you didn’t have powers of your own.
Loki healed your palms, while you looked at Thor confused. “Why-?”
“He took the power himself for the day,” Loki explained grumpily.
“Thor!” you yelled. “You shouldn’t have done that!”
We wanted to give you a happy birthday, little sister. Just accept the gift and say ‘thank you’. It is just for one day. Thor replied with a grin.
You bit back your emotions and nodded. You stood up on your toes to kiss him on the cheek. “Thank you,” you told him softly.
“How do you get her to do that?” Tony demanded. You all looked at him confused. “She’s so…compliant,” you glared at him for that.
“Thor has some bad habits that make arguing with him unwise,” you replied grumpily.
“You will have to enlighten me before you go home,” Tony told Thor with respect in his voice.
“No!” You and Loki exclaimed at the same time. Thor just grinned. He then swept over and the next moment, you and Loki had been thrown over his shoulders. “Thor!” You complained, pounding on his back. He didn’t let us down. Tony howled with laughter.
“Don’t you dare!” you ordered Tony, who you could see get the same idea. You saw Pepper taking pictures from Tony’s arms and couldn’t help but laughing at what an amusing sight this was. Thor carried you upstairs. Tony followed behind, at least to his floor, carrying Pepper with him. Thor had been here plenty of times before and knew where your suites were. There were still a few hours before your birthday celebrations officially began, so Thor wanted you to sleep before them. Like that was going to happen. He set you on our feet outside of your suite’s door. He gestured to Loki’s suite across the hall. “Yes, you can stay in Loki’s suite. He’ll stay with me,” you answered his question. He nodded and went to get a few more hours of sleep.
You and Loki went into your sitting room and closed the door firmly behind you. You wrapped your arms around his neck and wouldn’t stop whispering how much you love him for a good ten minutes at least. He held you tightly to him. “I love you too, darling,” he finally answered with a smile in his voice when your whispers had paused.
“Sorry, I missed being able to say that to you,”
He chuckled. “Darling, you never have to apologize for telling me that you love me,” he replied. “Should I even bother trying to convince you to get some rest?” he asked with loving exasperation.
You shook your head. “No,” you replied, pleasantly.
“Then what would you like to do?” he asked instead. You stood up on your toes and kissed him. Well. ”You do come up with the very best plans,“ he purred. You giggled and spent the next few hours between kissing and talking. You had missed this part of your relationship so much. You’d had kisses, of course, but the late night chats were a lot harder when one of you couldn’t actually speak.
Tony burst into your sitting room, where Loki and you were sitting on the couch talking later that morning. It was still early, though. He had a balloon and a stuffed animal with him. He also had Pepper and Thor trailing behind him. "Happy birthday!” Tony announced, echoed by Pepper. you jumped up and hugged him.
“Thanks so much,” you replied, hugging each of them in turn.
"Get dressed, imp. It’s time to get going,” Tony grinned. You laughed and used magic to change your clothes to jeans, a dark green sweater, and your converse because you still loved them. You made sure your jewelry was in place, the two bracelets from Loki, the necklace of your mom’s that we had saved from the fire with a silent apology to Sif that you weren’t wearing her necklace, and the promise ring from Loki. You also made sure your dagger sheath was securely in place. You didn’t go anywhere without it. You looked over at Loki. He had conjured outfits for himself and Thor. Thor was in jeans, a t-shirt and a red flannel shirt over it. It was strange to see Thor in Earth clothes, but they looked good on him. Loki was in jeans and an elegant sweater over a button-down shirt. Pepper was wearing a hat to hide the fact that she still had cat-ears. She had at least managed to vanish her tail. She still had trouble with her powers some days. “Imp, do you mind if Pepper comes with us today?” Tony asked nervously.
You shook your head. “Not at all. She’s always welcome,” you replied with a smile. Both Tony and Pepper lit up. Tony wrapped his arm around your shoulders. Yours automatically went around his waist. You walked that way downstairs and out to Tony’s car. Thor, Pepper, and Loki were following behind.
The five of you went to the tiny hole in the wall breakfast place that had the best pancakes. Tony took you there every year on your birthday. The people that owned the place already had a table set up for us with balloons on it. You and Tony had been famous before your parents died. They were billionaires after all and did a lot for public works and were famous for it.  You only got more famous when your parents died and Tony was outed as Ironman.  You got even more popular when you became a super too.
You liked the restaurant.  They always kept the reporters and fans away from you whenever you came. They recognized that a lot of the supers came to eat there, but they never outed anyone and never complained about how many pancakes you ate.
They quickly rearranged the table when they realized there were more than just you and Tony today. You were patient with them and thanked them immensely for making the adjustment. You and Tony were nothing but polite. Your parents would have killed you from beyond the grave if you weren’t.
“Off the record, as usual dears, but how many supers are we feeding today?” the owner asked.
You laughed. “All of us,” you replied with a smile. Loki and Thor weren’t technically supers, but for the purpose of her question they counted. She wanted to know exactly how many of their pancakes you were going to eat.
The answer was all of them.
The owners never got annoyed with you, no matter how many pancakes you ate. You cheered at every new round and gave them constant praise. Also this was a once-yearly event and you brought them in a lot of business. You also paid a ridiculous amount of money, though they only ever tried to charge you for one order.
After breakfast, you went to the amusement park and arcade in the mall. You all acted like children, but it was so much fun. You did this every year too. You wandered the shops and Loki had to carry your bags. Tony had to carry Pepper’s. Both boys looked so put-upon. Loki vanished the bags after the shopping was over. Tony was grateful he didn’t have to lug everything back to the car and actually gave Loki a smile.
The next stop was the hardest of the day, but it was also the most important. You held Tony’s hand while he drove you to the cemetery. You all lugged the picnic blanket, basket of food, alcohol for dad, and flowers for mom up to their graves.
“Hey! You kids can’t play around here!” A security guard yelled as you climbed up toward their graves. You passed the flowers to Loki and Tony handed the bottle of alcohol to Thor. You were the best ones to take care of this without trouble. You walked down to the security guard. You touched Tony’s hand. He nodded and let you take an extra step forward, so you were the focus.  This time.
“I apologize for any inconvenience, sir,” you told the security guard with all of the innocent politeness you could manage. You were good and well practiced at this act. “My Uncle Tony and I just came to visit my parents, Eugene and Marilyn Stark. We promise we will not cause any trouble,” you added with a radiant smile.
The guard looked you over. “Iron Man and Lady Sigyn,” he finally said. Apparently 'lady’ got added to your superhero name by the press. They must’ve been Avengers movie fans. You both nodded at his recognition. “I’m sorry for bothering you. We’ve been getting a lot of kids loitering here recently. I’ll let security know to leave you alone,” he added. You nodded again and thanked him, before walking back up to catch up with the others.
“Where did that act come from?” Tony asked.
You laughed in reply. “Just because you don’t believe the innocent little girl act, doesn’t mean security doesn’t,” you replied with a grin.
“Imp,”
“Silver tongue,” you replied innocently. Tony chuckled and Loki laughed.
You took the flowers back from Loki and you finished your walk up to your parents’ graves. The other three hung back when you and Tony went to greet your parents first. You used magic to clear off their graves and set the flowers in front of mom’s. “Hi mom, hi dad. I’m sorry we haven’t been to visit recently. Things have been busy, but we’re doing such good work protecting the city,” you started. You heard the ruffle of pages behind you and saw Loki with the spellbook. “Need help?” you asked. He shook his head. He had used this spell before, so you knew what he was planning. You also knew he had ended up unconscious for several hours after he held it too long on his own.
“This is a single caster spell,” he answered as he distractedly flipped through the pages.
“Darling, we’re soulbond, remember? I can give you power without affecting the spell,” you reminded him, overly patiently. He looked up at you, shocked that you had remembered, or knew that piece of information. He gave you a small smile.
“Very well, but just a little,” he relented. You went over to him and took his left hand in yours. With a bit of focus, you could donate some of your power to him through the soulbond. He smiled and recited the spell, bringing your parents back to corporeal form for the afternoon. You kissed him lightly in thanks, then ran for your parents.
You babbled at them for several minutes while Loki, Pepper, and Thor set out the picnic. Once you stepped back for air, they approached. “Mom, Dad, you remember Loki?” you asked when Loki stepped up. He bowed over your mom’s hand to kiss her knuckles, then shook you dad’s hand.
“It is a pleasure to see you again,” he greeted them. They both replied how good it was to see him again and that they were glad the trouble back home was over.
“Loki’s brother Thor has come to town for the day. He came by to say hi to you last time we were here,”
“We remember,” mom cut you off before you could continue babbling. “It’s nice to see you in person,” Thor stepped up to kiss her knuckles too.
“Sorry, mom. Thor can’t talk today…” you briefly explained about Thor and the curse. Your mom reached up to touch his cheek.
“Thank you for your sacrifice today on our daughter’s behalf. It is nice to know there are others looking after her. She’s always so busy looking after everyone else that you know she forgets to take time for herself,”
“Mom~” you groaned, rolling your eyes. Loki, Thor, and Tony all laughed at you.
“And the infamous Pepper Potts,” your mom said as she greeted Pepper.
You enjoyed your picnic lunch. The boys all shared the bottle of alcohol with dad. We chatted all afternoon, catching your parents up on what they’d missed since you had visited last.
Is this a common tradition on Earth? To have a picnic at a gravesite? you heard Thor’s question.
"No, it’s not typical to have a picnic at a gravesite,” you answered, speaking directly to him, but repeating his question so everyone would know what had been asked. “I’m weird. Always have been. I was just a kid when they died.” Really, you had been 13, but you knew that was just a kid. That was a lot of innocence ago. “I insisted that they could hear me and from there we got to having picnics here while Uncle Tony and I talked to them. It’s really unusual. Usually people just visit for a couple minutes, say a prayer, and leave,” you added.
“You’re chatty today,” Tony commented.
You glared at him and stuck your tongue out. “I haven’t had a voice in weeks. Let me enjoy it,” you grumbled at him.
He laughed at me.
“Children,” you mom said in a warning tone. You laughed, but it was nostalgia of hearing that word in that tone again. Your mom turned to you and Loki. “So, when are you two getting married?” she asked.
You blushed and looked away. “Mom! He hasn’t even asked yet!” you protested. “Don’t put him on the spot,” you grumbled. Loki would ask when he was ready. You were sure he would be planning some extremely romantic gesture for it too. “Besides, by his world’s standards, we’re already married,” you reminded her, showing her the soulbond marks on your arm.
“Yes, but by our world’s you’re not. I would like to be able to see my daughter happily married,” your mom replied.
You sighed and rolled your eyes.
“It will happen, Lady Stark,” Loki replied formally, pulling you closer to him long enough for him to kiss the top of your head.
"Bother Uncle Tony and Pepper about getting married then,” you grumbled.
“We will when we’re ready,” Tony protested while Pepper turned red and hid her face in Tony’s shoulder.
You had another hour before you noticed Loki getting too pale, felt that his power levels were too low. He nodded when he caught that you were looking. "Apologies, darling, but I cannot hold the spell any longer. It is time to say your goodbyes,” he confirmed. You gave him a kiss before you and Tony stood so you could say your goodbyes properly. There were tears all around, but everyone said goodbye and Loki’s spell ended.
“Thor, make sure Loki stays on his feet. That spell packs more of a punch than he likes to admit,” you called to Thor. You used magic to clean up your picnic, and you and Tony made sure the flowers on your mom’s grave were neat and you dad had one last drink poured out for him. You and Tony said one last goodbye before you turned to leave with the others.
“I’m fine, Thor!” Loki kept grumbling at Thor, who did not take your orders as they were said, but instead had thrown Loki over his shoulder. At least Loki hadn’t passed out this time.
Tony drove you to ice cream after the cemetery in an attempt to cheer everyone up. Loki was asleep, using Thor’s shoulder as a pillow before you had even left the cemetery. You turned around from the front seat, smiled, and took a picture. Your soulbond was absolutely adorable.
Your ice cream was subdued. It was always hard after you visited your parents. Loki pretended not to be as asleep on his feet as he was. That spell was really draining. You grinned at him and lifted his left hand. He wasn’t paying attention to what you was doing, which was typical, as long as it was you messing with him. You placed your lips to the soulbond marks on the back of his hand and felt the pulse of magic and energy in the soulbond. Loki gave you a look, but it turned quickly into an exasperated smile when he realized you’d fed him magic.  You enjoyed your ice cream, and by the end everyone was joking and laughing again.
You returned to the compound for more ice cream and cake with our super family. Tom and Kelly met us at the door. “Fury said your party was being held here tonight,” Tom greeted you.
“It is. I’m glad you guys could come,” you told them. You reached out a hand. “Sorry, Fury said I have to hold your phones until you leave. He’s very particular about what pictures can be taken inside the tower.” They both handed over their phones to you without complaint. You had to explain quickly how Thor was taking the curse for you for today so you could enjoy your birthday. You and Loki gave them a tour of the tower, including places the cameras had never been allowed, like your suite, Loki’s suite, and the infirmary. Thor came with you. Tony and Pepper went to go do…something. You weren’t sure you wanted to know what it was.
"Kat? Can you spare a second for a healing?” Julia asked when you entered the infirmary. “I know it’s your birthday…” she hedged. “But this kid’s in bad shape,”
You looked over at Tom and Kelly. “You guys don’t mind, right? You can watch,” you added. They shook their heads. You had the feeling they were both excited to see magic up close. You rolled up your sleeves. “Where is he?” you asked Julia.
“Bay 1. Claire is with him,” you nodded, your back straightening automatically. This was your zone and you were used to being in charge here. You led the way to the emergency bay where the battered preteen lay in the bed. “Thor, don’t let Loki try to help,” you called over your shoulder. “What happened?” you demanded of Claire.
“He jumped from the Metropolis building. Second one today. Fantasia caught the first one, this kid wasn’t so lucky,” Claire answered. You nodded and called up the healing magic. Both of your hands glowed blue when you did. You took a breath and placed both hands on the kid. He was in awful shape and should have been very very dead.
“Kat, let me help,” Loki ordered, struggling against Thor who was holding him away from the bedside. Tom and Kelly were both watching in awe as the kid’s bones healed, his wounds sealing shut as they did. “Thor, get off me,” Loki grumbled. You tuned him out. He was already drained from earlier. Besides, you could handle this. You healed the kid completely.
“Make sure Fury gives him hell for jumping off the building,” you told Claire.
“We always do,” she replied. “Thanks, Kat. Go enjoy your birthday,” she and Julia both shooed you from the infirmary before another emergency could come in. Loki had gotten free of Thor and wrapped an arm around your waist.
“I’m fine, Lo,” you told him, smiling up at him.
“You should have let me help,” he replied grumpily.
“You drained too much of your power already today,” you countered. He sighed and kissed the top of your head as you walked back to the common room.
You had cake, ice cream, and pizza with your friends and family. Then came presents. As per usual, you received mostly books from your friends. Tony gave you a signed copy of the first Harry Potter book. It even had a personalized note from the author in them. “How did you get this?” you asked as you fangirled over the book.
"Made a few calls. Being a famous superhero opens some doors,” he shrugged, but was pleased by your reaction.
“It doesn’t compare,” Tom said apologetically as he pulled out his wrapped present. You opened it to find a DVD, one of those recordable ones.
You grinned at him. “Is this what I think it is?” you asked. He nodded. Your grin only grew. It was the next Avenger’s movie, the one they had been shooting at the tower. “How’d you get this so fast?”
“They’ve been working on it for months. We just came back to film a couple additional scenes they threw in at the last minute,” he explained.
“I have a feeling you’re going to like the rest of tonight’s activities,” you told him with a mischievous grin.
“I am sure I will,” he replied. Thor and Loki had already given you their gifts. There was only one left.
You picked it up and opened it and turned about ten different shades of red when you had to pull the item out of the box. It was lingerie. A whole shit-ton of lingerie. “Who-?” you managed to get out. Nat was the one laughing her head off. “Nat!” you yelled indignantly.
“Your boyfriend deserves for you to have nice things!” she protested innocently, while Tony pretended he was going to throttle her. You couldn’t help laughing, but vanished the box quickly up to your bedroom.
“C'mon, Kat! Time for movies!” the kids called once the laughter had died down.
“Have you seen Superhero Musical?” you asked Tom and Kelly as you all made your way over to the TV. You and Loki got the loveseat of honor. There was another loveseat moved over for Tom and Kelly, since they were guests. Everyone else settled on couches, pillows and beanbags in front of the TV.
“No, we haven’t,” Tom replied.
“You’re in for a treat,” you replied with a grin. The movie started and both Tom and Kelly were laughing about five minutes in when the entire crowd of supers around them started singing along.
“I never knew the Avengers were like this,” Tom said after the movie, when he had listened to you all evening hanging out like normal teens and young adults.
“Not everyone sees this side of us, but we’re people too,” you replied, while Clint swapped out the movies. “I apologize in advance for this,” you told Tom. You knew what movie was next. Tom laughed when he realized what it was.
About thirty minutes into the movie Nat paused the movie and the entire crowd stared at Loki and Tom. “Why are they staring at me?” Tom asked you nervously.
You sighed. “They want you to say the line,”
“Both of them!” the crowd called.
“Have it be a contest!”
“Sig! Make them do it!”
You laughed and got to your feet. “C'mon boys, you heard them,” you hauled Loki to his feet. “You first, you’re prepared for this.” you told him. You shoved him toward the table that was always his stage. He used magic to change his clothes to the Loki costume, including the golden horned helmet and stepped up on the table to deliver the line.
“I am Loki of Asgard, and I am burdened with glorious purpose. Kneel before me,” he hesitated for a moment. “I said KNEEL!” he bellowed. The crowd roared in approval and applause. Loki stepped down from the table and bowed to Tom. You pulled Tom to his feet next, Kelly shoved him up too.
“Would you like the costume too?” you asked, offering Tom a hand. He hesitated, but fun won out. He nodded. You used magic to summon the costume on him. He stepped up on the table to deliver the line for the crowd as well. You took plenty of pictures of both Lokis, especially when your Loki stepped back up on the table so they could deliver the line at the same time. It was hilarious.
The crowd determined it was a tie on who performed better. Both Loki and Tom took a bow and returned to their seats, the magic fading from their clothes as they did so they were back in normal clothes.
You walked Tom and Kelly out of the tower after the Avenger’s movie and gave them their phones back. You sent them the pictures from your phone that they were allowed to have and thanked them again for coming.
The second they were gone, you put in the new DVD Tom had given you so you could all get an early viewing of the new Avengers movie. You all laughed and cheered when you and Loki were on screen during the couple of scenes you had helped out with. Including the kiss scene.
After that movie, Loki swept you up into his arms and carried you upstairs to cheers from the crowd, and a glare from Tony, so you could enjoy the last hours of Frigga’s gift with kisses and conversation with Loki.

Unforseen Chasm

Part 5 of Unforseen Chasm
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together. Word Count: 2313 Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my other fic series). first major Collab with my best friend @thorne93 what was first a simple “what if” moment turned into a two year writing session and I’ve never been more prouder of myself than when i started my first series. goes through most of the MCU plots there are some changes to accommodate for what we wanted and there is a bit of a crossover between the MCU and other characters. I hope you guys enjoy reading this just as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Disclaimer: Parts 1-5 were background information and helped to set up the story so that you as the audience can understand how the reader ends up where she does.
Every word has a purpose, every scene a reason.

DISCLAIMER: pls excuse the way it’s written and the random paragraphs. I had to find a way to make everything fit cause tumblr is a bioch. The full version is on my wattpad page 🙈
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today was the day. The day our guests would be arriving for the ’Grand Celebration’ in 5 days. At least, that's what the people think. The Royals know better. We know the real reason as to why all the Leaders and Generals of every Kingdom are here. There is a threat that wishes to take over these lands, a threat that was defeated a long time ago. For centuries we have lived in peace, now the threat of Hydra stands in the way of between us and normality.
Mother forced us to accompany Father in the Throne Room to await our guest's arrival. Loki and Thor looked irritated to be standing all evening while Hela and I enjoyed our time, conversing with Valkyrie and Lady Sif. “So Ophelia, did you find your husband in the debriefing?” Hela asked, referring to the discussion our parents sat us through regarding who will be wandering our castle. I rolled my eyes and replied, “No. None of them fit my criteria.” . “I beg to differ. If I recall correctly you were staring at a particular King.” Valkyrie added to the conversation. Lady Sif raised her eyebrows and queried, “Really, who?” “Well, it’s rather obvious isn’t it. There is only one King who is not married and that is - “. “That’s enough all of you.” I bellowed, feeling my cheeks heat up. “Is that why you’re wearing such a lovely dress, sister?” Hela interrogated, running her hand down the side of my dress. Mother and I chose a lovely satin dress with a slit in the front. It was loose with an elegant design on the chest area. “It’s a simple blue dress and I did not choose it, Mother did.”
Tumblr media
“Her objective was to make you look ravishing for King - “ Thankfully Hela was cut off by the sound of the welcoming horns. Mother hushed us and commanded we get into positions. The doors to the Throne Room opened and one by one our guests shuffled in as their names were announced. My feet started cramping as the line of guests seemed endless. Loki glanced at me and smirked, lightly grabbing my arm and looping it through his arm. I smiled and turned back to the guests as the name-calling finally stopped. Father stood up from his throne and greeted his guests. “Welcome to Asgard. As King, I would like to welcome you on behalf of my people. I hope that your stay will be pleasant and that, when you leave this palace, we may all have found peace.” Our guests clapped and cheered at Fathers words. “Your rooms have been assigned and our attendants will show you to them. Know that all our services and vicinities are open to you. Our meetings will commence after dinner.” Our guests cheered once more and many dispersed leaving the Kings and Queens behind. I rushed down the stairs and tackled Wanda into a hug. She giggled and hugged me back saying, “Well, hello to you too.”. “I missed you. Its been months since we’ve seen each other.”. “Is she the only one you missed?” I excitedly turned around to see Nat walking towards me with her arms open. I rushed to her and hugged her. “I didn’t know you were King Steve’s right-hand WOMEN.”. “I wanted to surprise you.” She replied. “Consider me surprised.” I confessed.
“So they're the only ones you missed? I’m hurt, Princess.” I turned around to find Tony Stark looking at me with a fake hurt expression. I smiled and hugged him dramatically. “Tony, you know you’re my favourite,” I said after our long hug. I turned to Pepper and greeted her. She was never one to get involved in these things so it was refreshing to see her. “And this must be Morgan. She’s gone so big.” I waved to the seven-year-old. She hid behind her mother and smiled shyly. I smiled and continued to go around, hugging and greeting everyone. It was nice to see them again even if it was due to negative circumstances. My favourite group was definitely The Guardians. They were so diverse and did not have the right etiquette around Royals. It was entertaining to watch Mothers expression and Thor secret laughs. The last person I greeted was Steve. He smiled brightly and kissed my hand, such a gentleman. “You know that isn’t necessary, Steve.” . “I know.” Steve responded with a smile. “Yea. As far as we know, you have a wife.” Sam Wilson said, walking towards us with his King in tow. I curiously watched as he quietly observed the area. He has long brown hair, captivating blue eyes and a light beard. His face was hard yet his deep in his eyes showed slight emotion. His eyes were hard and his posture stiff. He was constantly on guard, ready for any surprises. Must be the soldier in him. “I do. I’m just polite.” Steve replied. “Ophelia, I’m assuming you’ve met Sam and this is his King and my best friend, James.” Steve introduced me to his best friends. I smiled at Sam, already knowing him after his many encounters in Asgard with my personal guard, Vision. I turned to James and greeted with a curtsy. “Good evening, King James.” . “Oh, we didn’t get such a greeting.” Sam joked. I watched James give him a look before bowing and muttering a reply. “Bucky.”
“Excuse me?” I replied. “Everyone calls me Bucky. I’m not a fan of the title.” I smiled and responded, “Well that makes two of us, Bucky.” He gave me a light smile and voice, “Shall we, Ophelia.” He held out his arm for me to take. I smiled and gently looped my hand through his, allowing him to lead me to the garden where everyone was seated for dinner. This is going to be an interesting time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day before the ball.
I woke up to knocking on my door. I groaned and prayed it would disappear but it only grew louder. I tried covering my face with my pillow in hopes that it would with the headache it was giving me. I stayed up all night with Wanda, Jane, Mantis, and Shuri while everyone else was discussing the Hydra threat. I got to know everyone a bit more in terms of their passions and relations. It was a rather interesting night. Mantis is... strange but in a fascinating way, Jane loves stars - and Thor-, Wanda can’t stop mentioning Vision and all of them are convinced Bucky has a crush on me and me him. Is that true? Frankly, I don’t know. It’s been a flirtatious few days but nothing more. My days had significantly grown more interesting with his presence. We’d always be miraculously seated next to each other in every meeting - the works of Mother, Hela, Nat, Sam and Wanda. He was quiet during the meetings, speaking only when spoken to, and he was always attentive, eyes analysing everyone’s expressions and actions. Outside the meetings was a different story. I’d spot him in the garden, admiring the different flowers and creatures and watching the children play in the streets from the terrace. I enjoyed talking to him. He was calm, always open to learning new things. I spent days discussing Asgard’s architecture and history. I asked about his Kingdom and he explained that it still held the infamous aura of Hydra but things were brightening. He was sweet and very charming, whether he was doing it intentionally or not, was a mystery to me. I was very good at reading people by their eyes -courtesy of Mother - but he was extremely difficult to look at without blushing, let alone read.
“YOUR MAJESTY IT IS TIME TO WAKE UP! THE SUN IS SHINING AND THE BIRDS ARE SINGING AND YOU SHOULD BE TOO!” Hela shouted, storming into my room. I heard groans on the floor and peaked down. Everyone was cuddled up in their pillows and satin sheets, miserable at Hela’s noise. “Not now sister. You’re being a terrible host.” I groaned as she pulled open my heavy curtains. “This is not my house so, frankly, I don’t care,” Hela replied, plonking onto my couch as everyone woke up. “Breakfast will be served in an hour and you have entertaining to do.” The three ladies on the floor groaned and dragged themselves out the room while I thanked them for the night. I hopped to my bathroom, happy to see the bath full of steaming water. I sunk in and bathed, making sure everything was clean before jumping out. I hummed a tune I heard playing in the streets last night as people gathered the music for the Ball tomorrow while changing into an outfit picked by my sister. “I see you’ve chosen this.” I pointed to the three quarter, velvet green dress. It was plain and easy to move around. She topped it with a short, black heel.
Tumblr media
“Well, you’ll thank me later. Mother and Father have got quite a lot to do today and they’ll need your help.” I laughed and fixed my hair into a half updo and followed Hela out. We walked to the Dining Hall for breakfast. “Have you seen Vision yet?” I asked. I hadn’t seen my personal guard since our guests arrived. I missed his odd persona. “He, along with everyone else, is at breakfast. You’re last.” Hela replied. I blushed. Father is not going to be happy. We strolled into the hall as everyone sat and enjoyed breakfast. Father was speaking to Mother on one end of the table. Thor was with his friends - The Avengers as he called them - on the other end. Loki was conversing with Nebula. Not the safest thing. The Guardians were having their own conversation. Fury was with Carol and Maria. I walked to the empty seat next to Wanda across Bucky and Sam. They were listening to a story Thor, Steve and Tony were trying to tell. Something about the woods and trees being destroyed. Loki smirked every now and then, adding comments about what he saw in this tale. I felt Hela push me out the way and sit next to Wanda. I glared at her while she smirked and Wanda snickered. I sighed and walked to the last remaining seat, next to Bucky.“Good Morning,” I said, sitting as my attendant brought me my dish. I thanked her and picked up my utensils. “Good morning, Sleeping Beauty,” Sam replied. Bucky gave him a look before greeting me as well. “We really need to sort it your tone towards the Princess” I chuckled and stated, “Don’t worry Bucky. Sam’s a friend.” Sam smiled and raised his glass. Bucky rolled his eyes and added, “Still shouldn’t talk to you like that.” Wanda looked at me and smiled. I looked back confused. Both she and Hela raised their eyebrows and snickered. “Am I missing something?” I asked. “Nothing sister.” Hela smirked
“So Bucky, are you excited for the Ball?” Wanda asked, trying to start a conversation. “Well not really. I feel like it’ll distract us from the mission.” Hela groaned. “He’s definitely a King. They never lighten up.” . “Well, he has a point Hela. Imagine how Tony will act tomorrow night.” I voiced. “Weren’t you the one most excited for this?” Sam questioned. “Well, Sam. Ophelia just knows how to separate business from pleasure.” Bucky defended. I smiled as he winked. “Aww, you two are adorable,” Nat stated from her end of the table. Everyone suddenly stopped and listened. “Like a married couple,” Valkyrie shouted from the other end. I shot my head in her direction and gave her a look that would have her wishing she was part of the chair. “I told you, Steve,” Peggy added. “Who’s married?” Thor asked. “I called it,” Scott added.
“You owe me 20 Rhodes,” Tony said happily as Rhodes groaned. My eyes widened as my cheeks felt hot. Bucky was clenching the fork and I noticed red on his face. “This is what I was telling you,” Mantis said. “Aww, young love,” Carol added with a laugh. “Sister, I had no idea.” Loki gasped sarcastically. I quickly got up and left the hall, having lost my appetite. I didn’t look back to see Bucky following me out.
~~~~~~~~~~
The whole day I avoided Bucky. Every time I saw him, I turned the other way. I was embarrassed by everyone’s assumptions of our relationship. We were just friends, nothing more. I busied myself with preparations the entire day, making sure to isolate myself from everyone as much as possible. The sun was setting and I was running out of things to do. Wanda and Nat had already found me and declared apologies on everyone’s behalf. They also said that Bucky was miserable because he hadn’t seen me and he felt guilty. I frowned at the thought of his unhappy face. He didn’t do anything wrong, we just have a bad choice in friends. I sighed and wondered about the halls. I was bored out of my mind, only looking forward to the night as we would be having another girls night. I forgave everyone but was not ready to face the music just yet. I turned to a corridor to see Bucky walking out of his room towards me. He looked up and his eyes brightened as they saw me. I quickly turned around, pretending not to see him but he stopped me by shouting, “Ophelia, wait!” I sighed and turned back replying, “I’m sorry Bucky but I’m incredibly busy. I have to go.” I turned for the third time and tried walking away but he grabbed my arm saying, “I know that’s a lie because Nat just informed me that our presence was not needed by anyone for the rest of the night.” Bloody hell this women is asking for a death sentence. I sighed. “I’m sorry... it’s just err -“
“I know, you don’t have to explain yourself.”
“You know?”
“Yea, we have terrible friends.”
I giggled. “That’s true but they’re all we have so I guess we’re stuck with them.”
“Unfortunately. May I join you?” I hesitated. “Umm... yes of course.” What’s the worst that could happen? Bucky smiled and let go of my arm. He followed me as we wandered the castle halls. We had been doing this a lot. “I see you haven’t gotten over your fascination with the castle.” I pointed out, watching him rake his eyes over the patterns that aligned the walls. “Every time I walk, I find something new to marvel at.” He replied, glancing at me. “And some things never cease to amaze me, no matter how many times I've looked at it.” I blushed. “That’s Asgard for you. Always holding new beauties.”
“And ones that have been here all this time, hidden from the world.”
“Are we talking about the same thing?”
“I don't know, are we Princess?”
“I told you not to call me that.”
“I know but it suits you.”
“So does your title, King.”
“No, it doesn’t. I was never born to be a King.”
“Yet here you are. Ruling a land of people thought to be cursed and from what Sam has told me, you’re doing quite well.”
“I hope Sam hasn’t ruined my name, cause that’s all he seems to be doing. He can never contain his tongue.” I giggled. “It’s who Sam is.” . “Unfortunately.” Buckley smiled. He had a charming smile. White and full. It always brightened his face, his blue eyes wrinkling as he did. “Your Majesty?” “Yes?” I reacted. “You’re staring.” My eyes widened and I flushed red, great just what I needed. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright. I am guilty of the same.” I looked back at him and smiled.
“You were staring, at me?”
“How can I not?”
“Are you flirting with me, Your Highness?”
“No...I’m just being polite.” I nodded, not believing him. “Of course you are. You never mix business with pleasure.”
“I try not to. You’ve proved that to be quite difficult.”
“Have I? I apologise.” I flushed at his words. We stopped near one of the biggest terraces in the castle. It overlooked all of Asgard and further. The world was dark, the land filled with light from peoples homes. I walked outside and looked at the view. The stars shone despite its competition with the artificial light. “It really is beautiful.” “Yes, it is.” I turned to Bucky to find him already looking at me. I smiled as the wind picked up. Bucky tucked a piece of my blonde hair behind my hair and turned to the view before us. “What are you playing at, Barnes?” . “Last name basis is it?” I laughed at his dramatic statement. “Well if you must know, I’m differentiating the difference between pleasure and business.” He turned back to me and trialled his gloved fingers over my cheek. He only wore a glove on his left hand, wonder why? “Why do you wear one glove?” I asked, letting my mouth voice my thoughts. I watched his eyes darken before he turned away from me. “I’m sorry, I never meant to offend you. You don’t have to tell me. You are not obliged to” I rambled, not sure what to say. “It’s alright. Umm... it’s from a time in my life I wish to forget.” He left it at that. “Do you like horse rides?” I asked, desperately trying to change the subject. “I do.” He answered shortly. “Maybe we can go on one after the Ball. I’d like to see if you live up to the status as the fiercest warrior of all the land.” . “Is that what I’m known as around here?” He chuckled. “Well, it’s all Sam talks about when he comes. He goes on about how you raced though an army with just a horse and a sword, coming out unscathed.” Bucky lightly smacked his forehead and sighed. “Sam and I really need to have a talk about his dramatics.” I laughed. “So it’s not true?”
“It’s true but I didn’t come out of it unscathed. My horse was worse.”
“Your horse?”
“Yes, Starr. She’s a beauty but she’s very fierce. She doesn’t like people.”
“You two must be best friends.”
Bucky laughed quietly. “She’s in one of your stables. I can show her to you.”
“Really?”
“Of course. Anything for the princess.” I rolled my eyes at his sentence. “Do not do that.”Bucky smirked, “Do what love?” I shook my head and headed inside towards the stairs that would take us to the stables. Bucky jogged to catch up to me. “How do you walk so fast?”
“Years of practice in heels.”
“They are beautiful, as is your dress. It complements your transfixing eyes.”
I blushed, again. “My sisters work.”
“She has good taste but I doubt she could make such a dress look this beautiful on herself.”
“You don’t want her to hear that from you. She’ll kill you in your sleep.”
“I would say it to her face a thousand times if it means I see those gorgeous cheeks blush.” . “Bucky!” I stopped abruptly causing him to knock into me. I stumbled, tripping over my feet. I squealed as I fell towards the stairs. Bucky grabbed my waist and pulled me so that my back was to the wall and face flushed against his chest. “Are you alright?” He whispered as if out of breath. “Yes. Thank you.” I whispered back, clutching his shirt. I looked up, into his ocean orbs and smiled lightly. Bucky smiled back and let his right-hand trail through my hair, that had somehow come out of its updo, and down to my chin. I closed my eyes and as his thumb traced my bottomed lip. I bit my lip and opened my eyes to find his face closer. It was as if the world around us didn’t exist. All I could hear was his soft breathing and see his beautiful face. I glanced at his rosy lips before looking into his eyes again. I leant closer and watched as Bucky followed suit. Before I could feel his soft lips touch mine, a cough interrupted us. We quickly looked to the stairs to find Nat, Carol, Steve, Thor and Tony looking at us with huge smiles. “I told you they were up to no good,” Tony said with a giggle. I froze and stared at Thor who laughed behind the rest. Nat smirked at the two of us and said, “Let’s leave them to their... business.” “No no. Pleasure Nat. As you heard at breakfast, these two don’t mix business and pleasure.” Tony added. Carol and Steve laughed silently. It was as if his words spread through the rest of the castle because Wanda and Clint suddenly appeared with Sam and Rhodey in tow. “Aww, yea man. I knew it would happen.” Sam shouted to Bucky. Bucky groaned and hid his face in my neck. I giggled and pushed him away slightly. “Did we miss something?” Loki came around with Hela. “Sister was making out with the Soldier.” Thor's voice boomed through the already formed group. “Finally,” Hela said.
“Yes, you two were taking quite long.”
“I expected it to happen on day one.” I looked at my siblings with a shocked expression. “Alright, let's leave them alone.” Steve walked towards Bucky and smacked his shoulder. “But they’re right, you did take long bud.” Bucky huffed and pulled me away from everyone as they cheered for us. “Don’t forget about tonight, O!’ Wanda clapped. “That is if he doesn’t keep you occupied!” Carol added. “Not that we mind, we don’t,” Peggy stated. I picked up the paced, wanting to get as far away from them. Once we were near my room I stopped. “I’m sorry.” We both said simultaneously. We laughed as Bucky pulled me towards the opening. I sat on the ledge and sighed, “This has been the most embarrassing moment of my life.” “Honestly I’ve had worse. Bear in mind, Sam is my friend.” I giggled as Bucky walked towards me, his hand on my mine. “It was fun though.” “It was but I’m assuming you’re needed in your room. You don’t want to be keeping the ladies waiting.” I sighed and pouted. “I don’t think they deserve my presence. What will you do?” Bucky chuckled. “Knowing MY friends, we’ll probably be out drinking our hearts away.” I shook my head. “Men.” I hopped off the windowsill and grabbed Bucky’s hands. “I guess this is goodbye for now.” . “For now.” I walked in the opposite direction of Bucky, our hands lingering together. I turned to him while he stared at me with those adorable puppy eyes. I got on my toes and pecked his cheek, letting my lips linger for a second longer. I could feel his check spread with a warmth. “Goodnight.”
“...Goodnight.”

Bucky's P.O.V
I watched as Ophelia walked away from me, her beautiful green dress swaying with her hips as her heels clicked against the floor. Her hair flowed in the direction of the wind, her scent coming towards me. I bit my lip as I touched my cheek, still feeling her lips on me. I felt a smile spread on my face as she disappeared from my view and turned to find Steve and the other men. I found them outside with their horses. I saw Starr and took her reins, walking towards Steve. “Ah, lover boy is here,” Sam said. “Finally, though I thought you’d last longer,” Tony stated. “Tony that’s not necessary.” Steve reprimanded. “Yes, that’s my sister you’re talking about,” Thor said, cracking his knuckles. “We didn’t do anything if that’s what you’re all wondering. We just talked.” . “Yes, very intimate conversations,” Loki said with a smirk. “Well, let’s head out, the night does not last forever.” Vision said, getting upon his horse. Everyone else cheered and followed suit. I got upon my horse and thanked Vision. He replied with a smile and lead the party of men to the bar where we could take the opportunity to let go before the big day tomorrow yet no matter how much I drank, I could not forget those grey-blue eyes and the bright, wide smile of the Princess of Asgard. Maybe everyone’s assumptions were true, maybe I have found my Queen.

Ophelia’s P.O.V
I walked into my room to find all the ladies lounging in my room. Looking at it, I didn’t know my room was that big. “You’re back!” Peggy said. I sighed and walked to my room to change into my white nightgown and blue robe. “Did you two have fun?” Hela asked with a glass of red wine in her hand as I sat at the edge of my bed. Wanda and Nat sat on the bed with me. Hela sat on her own couch. Carol and Valkyrie sat of the two-seated couch. Peggy and Pepper on the other across them, Jane on the windowsill cushion and Nebula, Gamora and Mantis on the fluffy carpet. “We did not do anything. We just talked.” . “I don't believe you.” Carol said with a smirk. “Well then that’s a you problem.” I snapped. “Oh lighten up, O. You guys are cute.” Nat assured. I pouted. “I think she’s upset that we interrupted them.” Wanda added. “Am not!” I whined. “You so are.” Jane giggled. “Can we please change the subject.” I pleaded. “No! We want to know more about your intimacy with the Soldier.” Gamora said. Everyone nodded, agreeing with her. “Nothing. We’ve been talking. THAT’S ALL.”
“Well what is he like?” Pepper asked.
“You know what he's like.”
“Oh please sister. Every man acts different with the one he loves and his friends.”
“He loves you? Oh joy! You’re babies will be beautiful.” Mantis gushed. I blushed at her words. “He does not love me.” . “You don't know that.” Val said. “He’s a man. They are terrible when it comes to sharing emotions.” . “Where’s Okoye and Shuri?” I said, desperately trying to change the subject. “Shuri is very tired from todays activities and Okoye is doing guard business. She didn’t want to go away from her duties. Now don't change the subject.” Nat said as the tray of various foods came towards me. I grabbed three chocolate cookies and a glass of wine from the centre table. “I swear we didn’t do anything.” . “Fine we believe you. Now tell us what the famous Winter Soldier is like?” Jane asked. “Fine but after that we go to something else.” . “Promise.” Wanda said. I sighed. “He’s... dreamy.” The girls laughed as I glowed. “He’s kind and charming. He’s always complimenting me and always makes sure I’m comfortable. He’s curious, always asking me about Asgard and our family.” “Did you tell him the truth?” Hela asked.
“Yes. I did. Anyways, we just got to know each other. I promised to take him on a ride through Asgard’s forest.” . “Look at you making the first move.” Val cheered. I giggled. “What about the kiss?” Mantis asked. “Was it satisfactory?” Nebula spoke for the first time. I smiled. “We did not kiss because Natasha interrupted us.” . “NAT!” Peggy and Pepper groaned.
“It was unintentional, I swear.”
“Can we move on now - “
“No. Did you kiss him anywhere else?” Hela pressed.
“.... maybe.”
“HAH, YOU DID.” Wanda jumped on my bed, almost dropping my glass. “Hey, these covers we’re expensive.” Wanda sat, blushing. “To end this torture, I did kiss him BUT only on the cheek. That’s it.” Everyone awed and began complimenting me on our cuteness and Mantis continuously spoke of our future children. “Okay I get it. Now I have a question.” Everyone quietened as they waited for me to ask my question. “Does everyone know that Wanda has been snogging Vision since we got here?” Wanda squealed and tried tackling me but it because was too late. Everyone broke out into a series of shouts in shock. I smiled as she went as red as her nightgown. “Is that who you’re going with tomorrow night?” Hela asked. I nodded for her as she tried smacking my head. I giggled and caught her arm. “Well... who are you all going with?” Wanda mumbled. Everyone tired speaking at once but I quickly hushed them as to not wake the whole castle up. “We all know who’s going with who. Peggy and Steve.” Peggy smiled at the mention of her husband. “Pepper and Tony.” Pepper rolled her eyes playfully. “Nat and Bruce.” . “Why would you think that?” Nat asked, trying to play dumb. “Oh please Natasha, we’ve seen you and the shy boy.” Hela said laughing. “All sheepish glances and stolen kisses.” Nat blushed and grabbed a new bottle of wine. I laughed as she poured a full glass and continued. “Jane and Thor as they have also been snogging ever since she got here.” Jane blushed and chucked a pillow at me. “How would you know?” . “I have eyes and ears everywhere. This is my castle, the secret passages are everywhere.” Jane sighed as if giving up with this conversation. “Oh and Gamora is being accompanied by Peter Quill.” Gamora’s eyes shot to me in anger. “How would you know?” . “Your sister told Loki who told me. Never trust Loki to keep secrets from me.” Gamora looked at her sister and tackled her to the floor, her hands around her neck. I gasped as Val and Carol tried to pull them apart. Hela laughed and Peggy and Pepper tried to calm the situation down with their Queen words of wisdoms. After 10 minutes of shouting, laughing, fists and Wanda, Mantis and I sitting on my bed, munching on goods, things calmed down. “Is everyone calm?” Peggy asked. She was met with silence. “Good, now let’s all breath and continue to relax. Nat, hand them a cup of wine to calm the fire in them.” Everything calmed down from there. “Its the sister in them, isn’t that right O.” I nodded, agreeing with Hela. “We fought like crazy.”
“You almost threw me off a bridge.”
“You were being a brat.”
“I was 8.”
“And you were a terrible 8-year-old.” I chucked my book at Hela. Before she could throw her heel at me, Pepper shouted, “That’s enough! There will be no more sister squabble.” Hela and I rolled our eyes and smirked. “She doesn’t understand.” Gamora and Nebula smirked as well. “Anyways back to the dates.” Jane said, trying to move the conversation back to where we left off. “Yes. Hela, Mantis, Nebula, Carol, Valkyrie and I are going alone.” I continued. “I know Mantis, Nebula and I are but Carol and Valkyrie have had other plans...together.” Hela said as the two blushed and glanced at each other. I smiled widely as Hela continued. “And you sister, you’re going with Barnes.”
“He didn’t ask me.”
“He doesn’t have to. He’s a man remember. They’re not good at expressing their emotions.”
“You really think he wants to go with me?”
“Of course he does. If he doesn’t, we’ll make an example out of him.” Gamora said. I laughed and thanked her. “But if he is in love with you then he will want more than for you to just be his date tomorrow. He would want you to be his Queen.” Mantis voiced. I choked on my wine as everyone nodded their heads. “It is very obvious. He is not good at hiding his feelings for you.” Nebula added.
“Umm...”
“Better start thinking about marriage sister.”
“At least Father gets his wish.”
“To hell with Father. This is for you. Do you wish to marry him?”
“I don’t know. I haven’t thought that far.”
“You’ll have to if you want to be ready when he pops the big question and he just might, at any time. Remember, he’s a man therefore he also has terrible timing.” Everyone laughed at Hela’s statement in agreement and continued to drown themselves in wine and food. Tonight was going to serve us all a huge headache.

The Night of the Ball.
“Ophelia, may I come in?” I heard from the other side of the door. I had been in my room since after lunch, preparing for the Ball. Frankly, this was not my choice but Mother wanted me - and my brothers - to look perfect. I smiled, remembering Thor and Loki’s groans of complaints as Mother forced us into our rooms to get ready. I had been in here for 4 hours washing and making sure every cell was spotless. My nails were a Livid Colour, to match my dress. My hair had been curled and styled to Mothers liking. Thank the Gods we had a similar taste in clothing and hair or things would’ve much more difficult. “Come in.” Wanda and Nat walked into my room with random gowns on. Attendants walked behind them carrying their gowns, shoes and jewellery for the night. The door closed and they took off their gowns replacing them with silk robes. “You two seem excited.”
“I just want to get drunk.”
“I can’t wait to dance.”
“You guys do realise we are not going to be allowed to ‘have fun’. We have responsibilities.”
“Our responsibilities won’t take all night,” Nat said taking a seat of the single couch and stretching. “Besides, I didn’t get this pretty for nothing.” Wanda nodded in agreement. “What time are we meant to be down?” I asked. “In 2 hours.” Nat answered. “Great.” I walked to my bed, where Wanda was sitting with her nail filer and pulled out my book. “Are we just going to sit here for 2 hours?” Wanda asked. I nodded, turning the page. “Absolutely not.” Nat interrupted. “We have to get ready. I have to do your make up Ophelia and your hair Wanda AND we still have to get dressed and be downstairs, ready when the doors open to the civilians. That will take 2 hours. So let’s begin.” Nat pulled Wanda to my vanity table and began doing her hair. I glanced up every now and then to see Wanda’s hair being pulled in different directions and Nat using strange products. “Done.” Wanda walked got up with a smile and hugged Nat, thanking her for her magical hands. “You’re turn.” She said, taking my place on the bed as I moved to the vanity table. Nat stared at my face for 10 minutes before pulling out various brushes, powders and shades of different colours and began touching my face with different objects. 20 minutes later my face was done. I turned to the mirror and gleamed. My face was a canvas of perfection. I giggled and hugged Nat. “I look... extraordinary. Thank you, Nat.” . “Oh darling, it was no problem. I want to make sure Barnes doesn't take his eyes off you.” I blushed at her words. “Not that you need it. You’ve had Barnes wrapped around your finger since the moment you laid eyes on each other.” . “Time for dresses.” Wanda squealed, pulling her dress out. Her dress as red - her signature colour - with a dip in the front as it flared to the ground. The dress was decorated with leaves from the top and spread to the middle of her dress and was matched with black high heels. “Wanda, if your objective was to captivate Vision, then you, my friend, have succeeded,” I said as she walked to my folding screen to get dressed. “Nat, let me see yours,” Nat smirked and pulled out a sexy black dress. It was satin as if started at her breasts with a slit that runs to her mid-thigh and topped with a belt at her waist. It was paired with red heels “Nat this stunning.” . “Yes, now let's see your dress princess.” I smiled shyly and asked to my closet, grabbing my dress and laying it out on the bed. Nat gasped. “It’s gorgeous.”
Tumblr media
“What? What did I miss?” Wanda asked, stumbling towards us. She smiled at my dress. “Your Mother went all out, I see.”
“She did, didn’t she. Is it too much?”
“Too much? It's just enough. You are going to be the centre of attention. This is why mothers have daughters so that they can dress them up like life-sized dolls.” Nat sat, putting the dress to my body. “Go and put it on.” I did as told, trying to keep my hair and makeup perfect, and walked back. The girls smiled as Wanda twirled me around, my dress spreading as it moved with me. Nat handed me my white heels and sprayed our skin with perfume. “I’m so excited.” I gushed as we headed to the door. I opened it to find Vision nervously pacing in his uniform. It was less constricting due to the lack of armour but still had that Asgardian touch to it. He stopped pacing once we walked out and his face was priceless. His jaw hung and his eyes wide. I followed them to none other than a blushing Wanda. “Y-You look...breathtaking.” He stuttered. “I...I mean you all do, Your Majesty, it’s just...” . “It’s alright Vision,” I said as Wanda glided towards him. They exchanged shy words while Nat and I smirked at their not-so-secret conversation. “Wanda, I know you and Vision are having a moment but we’re going to be late,” Nat stated, walking past the two of them with me in tow. I smiled as the two as they rushed to us, Vision rushing to walk in front of Nat. “M’lady, the guests have arrived and your family is waiting for your arrival to begin the... celebration.” Vision muttered while Wanda and Nat slipped into the hall. I nodded and let Vision lead me to my family. Mother stood with her foot tapping anxiously as she waited for me. “Where have you been?”
“I’m sorry Mother. Love has no track of time.”
“Just because you have a boyfriend doesn’t mean you get leeway,” Loki said with a smirk.
“It was not me.”
“We don’t have time for this. Both of you get ready.” Mother ushered us to the entrance door. Sounds and voices could be heard as we entered the room. Cheers could be heard from all directions as Father sat on his throne and Mother, Thor, Loki and I took our positions beneath him. I scanned the crowd to see to find Bucky standing near Steve. They were quietly conversing, glancing at me ever so often. I smiled as Bucky kept his eye on me. Steve chuckled at our silent exchange and gave me a quick wink before focusing his attention to Father. I turned my attention back to Bucky drowning out father’s speech to the crowd. He looked very handsome in his black dress coat with his white buttoned-up shirt. His hair was jelled back nicely and his beard was trimmed to perfection. “Let the celebration of the lands begin.” I heard Father say as people cheered. Bucky clapped, keeping his eyes on me and mine on him. Everyone dispersed to the dance floor as Bucky walked towards me. I smiled, descending down the stairs. “Goddammit doll, you look... amazing. Beautiful. Ravishing. Gorgeous.” Bucky gushed, taking my hand and spinning me around. I giggled, “Bucky, you’re making me dizzy.” Bucky stopped and pulled me to his chest. “I just wanted to see how my princess looked from all angles.”
“Oh, so I’m YOUR princess?”
“Of course.” I smiled and shook my head. “Well, just so you know, this princess loves to be spoiled.” He pulled me closer and whispered in my ear. “Don’t worry doll, I’ll spoil you in every way imaginable.” I blushed and hid my face in his chest. “Shall we dance?” I nodded before he pulled me to the dance floor. We twirled along too the music, our feet following the melody. I watched as all our friends danced, along with other guests. Father and Mother smiled in my direction while we danced. People stopped dancing and gossiped about the couples, I could hear faint comments about Bucky and me. I couldn’t care what anyone said or thought. All I could see was Bucky. His beautiful ocean eyes and his bright smile. His laugh, his jokes and his charm were all my ears could hear. “Tell me, princess, do you ever desire to be more?”
“More than?”
“More than just a princess?”
“Well, I don’t know. I’ve never had the chance to think about it. My father always made decisions for me. If I had to think about it, really think about it, I’d love to be independent and free. I know it’s not much but for people like me, it’s hard to come by.”
“I understand. So, I’m assuming being a Queen is not your idea of freedom.”
“Not exactly but we can’t have everything. If I was a Queen, I’d be able to make my own decisions and see the world. I’d be included in the important things and be taken seriously. Unfortunately, that would only happen because of my husband.”
“I’d let you be independent. I wouldn’t force you to depend on me.”
“You would?”
“Umm....y-yes. My apologies, I never meant to be so forward.”
“No, it’s alright. I like a man who can picture his future. Tell me, what does your future look like, Bucky?”
“My future... is you.”
“Now you’re definitely mixing business with pleasure.”
“It’s not my fault. My business is exceptionally pleasurable.”
“Is it?”
“Yes. Though, I’d never marry you for business purposes.”
“So, I’m just pleasure?”
“You’re an image of my greatest dreams coming true.” Bucky spun me around and moved his hands to my waist. He picked my body up and spun us around. I gasped in surprise, grabbing his biceps while Bucky laughed. Once I was back on my feet, Bucky pulls me flush against him after placing my hands around his neck. I played with the hairs by his neck, placing my head on his chest where his heart was. I sighed softly as I listened to his heartbeat while running my nails through the shorter hair. Bucky groaned softly as he rested his head onto of mine, his soft lips grazing my forehead. His fingers traced figures on it back, causing shivers to run up my spine. We danced in silence for two songs, enjoying each other’s company before I lifted my head up from his chest and spoke,” So, about this whole marriage thing -“
“You don’t have to say anything. I was overstepping.”
“No. No, you weren’t, it just caught me off guard is all. I’ve never discussed this with anyone other than my sister, Nat and Wanda. No one else really cared for my opinion. I was always told to listen to my father because he knew what was best. I’ve also never spoken to someone who can make it happen.”
“Well, I’d love to talk more about it with you. If you’ll have me?”
“I’d love to and I’m sure my father will be satisfied.”
“It doesn’t matter what your father thinks or wants.”
“Pray he didn’t hear you.”
“You’ll protect me, right princess?”
“Of course. I’ll never pass up a chance to save you.” Bucky chuckled and pulled me towards him, kissing my cheek lightly. “As long as I get to save you as well.” I blushed as his lips lingered on my cheek. After a while, Bucky and I stopped dancing, grabbed drinks and walked to Wanda. She was flirting with Vision, distracting him from his duties.
“Look at you two.” Wanda blushed and snatched a drink from a passing tray. “We weren’t doing anything.”
“We didn’t say you were.” Bucky and I chuckled as Wanda groaned, hiding her face in Visions chest. Before I could continue my teasing, a clink of a glass quietened the buzz-filled room. “I would like to make a toast,” Father announced. “To new alliances, new beginnings, new love.” Father glanced at Bucky and I. I groaned while Bucky and Wanda laughed silently. “This celebration tonight is to announce -“ Father couldn’t finish his sentence as he was interrupted by the sound of the glass window on the far left, shattering. People screamed as guards stormed in with warriors from the other kingdoms, drawing their weapons to protect the Royals. Bucky pulled me behind him as Vision drew their weapons. The room fell silent, everyone alert from another unwanted sound. Father walked to the window, guards in tow. He picked the thrown object up and inspecting it. I walked to Father, Bucky right behind me, and peered at the object. It was a rock - a big one - with a note attached to it.
It read ”time to pay up.”
I looked at Father as his face paled. Mother and Thor rushed towards him as he stumbled back. “He needs to sit.” Mother said, ordering the guards to bring a chair. Father huffed and sighed as he fell into the chair. ”Mother... the people.”
“Everybody remain calm... there’s nothing to worry about.” As Mother said that, an arrow flew through the window on the right, landing in the pillar close to Steve's head. Hela grabbed the arrow from the pillar and examined it. People screamed and started running in a different direction. Steve and Tony walked to the now-broken window and peered out. Thor shook his head, walked to Father's throne and shouted, “EVERYBODY QUIET!” The room fell silent, no one moving a muscle. “Close the doors. NOBODY LEAVES.” The guards shut all the doors, blocking all exits.
“What does the note say?” Carol asked as we all walked to Hela.
“I can’t read this...” Hela said. “It’s coded.”
“Let me see.” Bucky said, taking the paper and translating. His eyes widened and his hand tightened around mine. “It says... ‘There’s nowhere to hide.’ “

Post-IW MCU Rewatch: Thor: The Dark World
Yay more Thor! (Yes I know this is widely considered to be the worst of the MCU movies and I DO NOT CARE. *hugs entire population of Asgard possessively*)
This prologue is ridiculous. I don’t know if it’s Anthony Hopkins’s inflection or if it’s just a step too far in the high fantasy direction, but it does make me cringe a bit. More showing, less telling! The prologues in the LotR movies were way more interesting than this.
The Dark Elf language also makes me cringe. I am very aware that it’s preposterous to assume that people from different planets speak English, but what’s most important to me is that actors cannot deliver nuanced performances when they are speaking gibberish. At least when it’s real languages, someone can coach them on inflection and stuff, but they really hamstrung Christopher Eccleston by making him say these silly-sounding lines.
Malekith has no imagination if the only thing he could think to do with the Reality Stone was turn stuff into dark matter.
“Benevolent god” indeed. Sending the Chitauri to slaughter people doesn’t really fit that description, sweetie.
Seriously Anthony Hopkins’s delivery is really weird in some places.
Odin is now three for three on children who showed scary genocidal tendencies, so I think there’s a lot of bitterness and feelings of failure behind what he says to Loki. Also Loki’s not showing any remorse at all, even though now would be a great time to explain that he was tortured and manipulated by Thanos. They’re both getting defensive and lashing out instead of engaging in meaningful communication.
Hi Sif! Hi Volstagg! HI THOR! He has such good entrances. Hi Fandral and Hogun! (Even if this is Zachary Levi Fandral with his stupid wig.)
The weapons the raiders are using are really interesting.
Hey I wonder if this Kronan knows Korg.
I love Thor’s smile when all the raiders laugh at his “I accept your surrender.”
*dreamy sigh* Asgard.
HUGIN AND MUNIN! And one actually lands on Odin’s arm! That’s awesome.
Odin ships Thor/Sif. (Me too, Odin.)
Obligatory shirtless Thor scene!
Volstagg and his family! *wibble*
Oh Sif. Rejected. (But Thor’s pretty nice about it.)
Jane is really quite socially awkward, isn’t she? Why did she go on this date?
It says something about how bad of a driver Jane is (hitting Thor, nearly driving off the road) that she would trust Darcy to drive her around (I guess Darcy’s record is slightly better, having only hit Thor once, while they were in the middle of a dust cloud).
“Why’re you calling me?” “I didn’t want to shout.”
Portals! Whee! (Honstly the portal shenanigans are one of the big reasons I love this movie. This crap is so much fun.)
I love the way Darcy wiggles her hand when she says “Gimme your shoe.”
Okay so the Dark Elves are set to wake up if the Aether gets activated? Headcanon time. Judging from all the creepy red lights in their ships, I think they used the Aether to make most of their tech, much like Schmidt did with the Tesseract. So yeah, if the Aether gets activated, their tech would react. That works.
Heimdall’s new armor has an orange stone in the breastplate. I thought he was gonna turn out to be the one who had the Soul Stone, and that it was the source of his infinite sight. ...I’m pretty sure I still like that better than what we ended up with in canon. Also, I only noticed this the other day, but Heimdall’s helmet is shaped the same as Hofund’s hilt, and that’s awesome.
Heee, I love Thor and Heimdall’s chat. I definitely believe that Thor would describe Heimdall as his best friend.
Whoops! Continuity error. Jane should not be in her Asgardian outfit yet. I guess they decided to move this bit to this part of the movie instead of later, but didn’t reshoot it.
Did Thor make this storm or is that just London being London? He does make it stop, I guess.
Sorry guys, Thor already has that dark strand of stuff in his hair; it’s not a Loki memorial braid.
Thor and Darcy’s interactions are always gold.
You sliced off part of that car!
Oh, question answered from before. You CAN see space rushing past from inside the Bifrost. Sweet.
Hi Eir! The Soul Forge is so cool.
Jane takes Odin’s rudeness pretty well. But dang, Odin. I know you ship Thor/Sif, but being mean to the competition is an elementary mistake.
That book is freaking awesome. It’s like the Book of Kells, except the images move and it’s in runes.
Dangit I don’t want the bad guys to be the ones who touch foreheads to show affection!
I really don’t like this look for Frigga. That one-boob breastplate is really weird.
The emotion in Loki’s scene with Frigga’s projection is so great. He wants to sever ties with Odin (or he thinks he does) but he can’t do that without severing ties with Frigga too, and you can see how much it hurts him to say anything that would hurt her. Which he plainly instantly regrets. And it’s the last thing he ever says to her.
Yessss more romantic exposition from Thor.
Hahaha, Jane is so much more shy around Frigga than Odin.
Man the way the Kursed dude kills people is really messed up.
Loki you would not be smiling at this dude if you knew he was going to do much more than cause a bit of mischief.
Thor jumping and grabbing Mjolnir is such a cool shot.
“It’s only because I’ve worried over you that you have survived.” Based on how Odin behaves as soon as she’s dead, that is extremely accurate.
Heimdall is so awesome. Oh, and I love the way the Dark Elves’ ships look almost like they’re made of dragon hide or something. Dragon hide or lava rock. Fantastic design. Fantastic movements.
This movie has so much more of Asgard in it than the first one, which is awesome. Even if it’s mostly getting pummeled by Dark Elves.
Those black hole grenades are freaking terrifying.
Yeah...if Loki hadn’t given that tip about the stairs to the left, the Kursed dude wouldn’t have arrived in time to help Malekith before Frigga finished him off, or before Thor and Odin arrived. :/
Frigga’s funeral is beautiful. The music, however, has been somewhat retroactively ruined by that play in Ragnarok. (Which I adore.)
Even if Loki doesn’t know how much his actions specifically contributed to Frigga’s death, I think he regrets helping the Kursed dude.
Hi Stan!
Dang, Asgardian law is crazy strict if Thor and the Warriors Three are casually talking about being killed by Einherjar if they screw up this plan.
This is so sad, because Loki actually doesn’t betray Thor at any point during this mission. He makes up for it by being incessantly irritating (which is the best stuff in the movie), but he sticks to the plan the whole time. The only one he betrays in this whole movie is Odin.
Okay the dagger/handcuffs trick by Thor is funny and all, but it really doesn’t hold up if you think about it. You’d definitely notice the difference between being handed a dagger and having thick cuffs put on.
Sif is very good at not letting her jealousy show too clearly. And her sword is awesome. Her and Volstagg’s threats to Loki are pretty great.
Peak annoying little brother stuff right here, when they’re in the Dark Elf blade ship. My favorite is “Oh dear. Is she dead?”
So Thor has the “face squashed against glass motif,” and I think Loki has a falling motif. Into the abyss in the first one, out of the ship in this one, and through whatever dimension Doctor Strange trapped him in in Ragnarok.
The flying longboats are so cool.
I love how much Loki likes it whenever Thor gets the better of him with sneakiness. He’s so used to Thor just smashing his way through stuff, so any subtlety he uses (especially when it’s successful against him) is fantastic in his book.
“Ta-dah.”
“What I could do with the power that flows through those veins.” I would love to see what Loki could do with the Aether. He’s already a master of illusions, and the Reality Stone would multiply that by about a thousand. It’d be awesome. And yet he sent it off to Knowhere instead of keeping it (or giving it to Thanos). Just like he kept the Tesseract safe in Asgard’s vault the entire time he was pretending to be Odin. If Loki had really done everything he did in Avengers of his own free will while in his right mind, he would not have gone to such lengths to keep multiple Infinity Stones away from Thanos. Heck, he might even have been the one to commission Stormbreaker from Eitri. I suppose he didn’t use the Stones himself because he knows as well as Thor does how deadly they can be to the wielder, or maybe he knew they’d draw Thanos to him like a beacon.
Thor thinks Loki wants to hurt him because he’s talking about Jane’s mortality, but Loki thinks Thor only cares about Jane and not the fact that their mother just died. They’re so bad at understanding each other.
The bittersweet smiles they exchange after “She wouldn’t want us to fight.”/“Well, she wouldn’t exactly be shocked.” are so painful to watch. They both desperately miss the days before any of this happened, when they were simply brothers, and I think they realize that about each other in this moment. But it’s not enough to fix everything, which is why Thor says “I wish I could trust you” and Loki says “Trust my rage.”
Ian is such a dope.
If a flock of starlings burst up through the ground at my feet like that, I would be scarred for life.
Thor’s plan is awesome. I totally fell for it in the theater. I thought Loki had double-crossed him and chopped his hand off, but they were working together the whole time. I kinda don’t think they let Jane in on it, though. Is the lack of blood on Thor’s arm stump a mistake or a hint that it’s a trick? *rewinds and squints* Ooh, no, it’s because the dagger has a glowy energy field on it! Insta-cauterization! Anyway, this would’ve been the perfect time for Loki to betray Thor for real if he’d wanted to, but he plays along. In part, I think, because he was so impressed with the plan.
Hey guys, even when Loki’s pretending to be a traitor, he doesn’t call himself Laufeyson. STOP CALLING HIM LAUFEYSON IN YOUR TAGS. Also his knife-fighting is awesome.
The Kursed dude’s eyeballs getting sucked out of their sockets was NOT a necessary detail to include.
“You fool, you didn’t listen!” What does Thor mean? What did Loki not listen to? Did Thor tell him that he was only supposed to protect Jane, not him?
Okay so I’m really not sure what the deal is with Loki’s fake death here. I have a couple different theories.
Theory 1: Loki really did get stabbed and really did believe he was dying. After Thor and Jane left to seek shelter from Thor’s uncontrollable grief storm, Loki reverted to his true form (because, dying) and that actually saved his life because Kursed blood isn’t as deadly to the Jotnar as it is to the Aesir, or his vital organs aren’t in the same place anymore, or something. So he was able to heal himself and take advantage of the situation.
Theory 2: Loki never intended to betray Thor, but he always intended to fake his death, both as a way of escaping prison and of avoiding Thanos’s retribution. So as soon as he finished off those four Dark Elves, he turned one of their corpses into a copy of himself and puppeteered it over to stab the Kursed dude and get theatrically killed. It would explain why the Loki who gets stabbed only has a Dark Elf sword and a black hole grenade on him.
I lean more towards theory 1 because I don’t really like the idea that Loki would trick Thor into thinking he was dead the day after their mother died, and also because when they filmed it, they actually meant for this to be Loki’s real death scene, and they only changed it later because test audiences didn’t believe Loki was dead. However, if I put aside my emotions, I have to admit that theory 2 makes more logical sense.
Would Malekith have found the Aether sooner if it hadn’t gotten into Jane? The movie implies pretty strongly that Malekith woke up because the Aether was out of its hiding place.
Mjolnir on the coat hook is such a great gag.
The elevator in Malekith’s ship looks like a spinal column, which is some fantastic design.
Thor’s battle trash talk is always delightful.
PORTAL SHENANIGANS. YESSSSSS.
Poor Mjolnir. It’s trying so hard to get back to Thor. I like to think that when it shatters the glass of that building on its way back up, it’s doing so in frustration.
Hi Jotunheim!
So apparently this isn’t remotely how you get to Greenwich from Charing Cross. Whoops. Maybe that girl was just really flustered at being addressed by Thor and gave him crap directions?
Jane really likes trying to throw herself between an unconscious Thor and a thing that she thinks might kill him.
POETRY. Malekith tried to destroy the Asgardian army by dropping his fleet on them. Now he gets killed by his own ship falling on him.
How’d Loki know about Thor’s line to Odin “There will never be a wiser king than you”?
“I can assure you, it will be absolutely safe here in my collection.” LIAR.
It’s so cool that Chris’s wife is the one who played Jane in the end credits scene. I’m not sure how they failed to do this kiss scene with Natalie in the first place, but whatever.
Every time Thor’s about to show up somewhere in this movie, there’s thunder. :D
Okay so the biggest problems with Thor: The Dark World are that Malekith is the dullest villain in the entire MCU and that Thor kinda doesn’t have a character arc. In a movie where half of his family dies (as far as he knows). How is that even possible? Despite the beautiful funeral, Frigga’s death was really kind of glossed over, and then Loki seemingly dies too, but even though those are very powerful scenes while we’re in them, they don’t leave much of an impact on the rest of the movie. You don’t really feel those losses in the way Thor fights Malekith. Thor should’ve been struggling to stick to the plan instead of just whaling on Malekith blindly with Mjolnir. He should’ve had some breakdown with Jane there to witness it and comfort him. Instead he’s the one comforting Jane when she blames herself for all the loss he’s suffered? No no no. He should’ve either been very emotional, very bent on revenge, or smiling and joking through the pain like he does in Ragnarok and Infinity War. This stoicism is not effective, and it probably contributes to so many people’s (mistaken) belief that, prior to Ragnarok, Thor was a boring character. And Malekith’s side of the battle would’ve been better if it had been personal for him too. He could’ve been more upset at the death of his buddy Algrim, or maybe he had family members who were killed by Bor, which is why he’s so keen on killing members of Asgard’s royal family now. It would’ve been so easy to make this an emotionally intense fight. Instead, it’s merely fun because portal shenanigans. *shrug*
Despite not having much of an arc, Thor is still wonderful. He’s funny, he’s more thoughtful and wise than he’s ever been, he’s gallant, he’s romantic, and he’s getting better and better at working as part of a team and finding solutions besides smashing stuff. Also he makes the best entrances, has awesome armor, and is mesmerizing to watch in battle. I adore him.
Other stuff this movie has going for it. So much more Asgard screentime, even if they cut a few scenes I wish they’d left in. The music is still great. Everything looks gorgeous, and the Dark Elves at least have interesting technology and costumes. No Dutch angles. Plenty of screentime for Heimdall. Every single second of Thor and Loki’s scenes together, being obnoxious bros to each other but still working as a very effective team (heralding all the excellent contentious Brodinson stuff to come in Ragnarok).

Warning: swearing - The reader is like Dr. Strange which is freaking awesome
(A/N): This is so bad I’m so sorry guys
Marvel Ladies x sorceress!reader
Wanda Maximoff: Amazed & Excited. She knew you were part of the avenger for a reason, but you were pretty reserved about your missions, so anyone of the avenger ever saw you fight, or even knew your power. You explain to Wanda that you were a sorceress, but still, she had never seen you use magic, until this day. The Avenger had been sent to this suicide mission, HYDRA agents had summoned some kind of demon from another realm, the other Avengers were shocked at seeing the weird looking creature, Wanda included, but when she turns around to see you, you were wearing a weird looking outfit, your hands doing graceful moves, she could hear you whisper in some kind of language, and in a blink of an eye, the demon was gone…She couldn’t stop talking about it for weeks. She was so damn excited that you were such a powerful sorceress
Wanda: “please tell me that you are going to teach me”
Y/N: “hmm I’ll have to think about it, this is not just simple magic, this is a discipline, a new way of liv-”
Wanda: *sad puppy eyes*
Y/N: *sigh* “…fine”
Natasha Romanoff: Shocked & Thrilled. She knew about your powers and all, but never got the chance to see you fight, she got tired of it and told the rest of the Avengers to meet her in the Gym. She took you there were all the Avengers were waiting impatiently. You were going to ask why you were all there, but out of the nowhere, a few robots from Stark came at you, attacking you, only you, the rest of the avenger where just looking. You look at Nat and saw the same stupid smirk that she has every time she was planning something, she screams at you to show them your powers, your magic…and so you obey, just because you wanted to see her happy, and after you destroyed every single one of the robots in a very badass way, you turn around to see her, with a shocked expression.
Tony: “you just destroyed every single one of my robots….but I don’t care because that was awesome!”
Wanda: “Y/N you’ll have to teach me”
Steve: “we could use your magic in the field-”
Y/N: “Nat?…aren’t you going to say anything?…”
Nat: “ …I’m just going to say…that I fucking love you and I promise to not make you angry anymore…”
Tony: “ she ate your snacks!”
Y/N: “ DID YOU EAT MY SNACKS AGAIN!?”
Nat: “ TONY YOU SON OF A BITCH CLINT HELP ME”
Clint: *he points at you with an arrow, using it as a wand* “AVADA KEDAVRA!”
Y/N: “I’M NOT HARRY POTTER YOU IDIOT!” (i don’t know what the heck is this I just thought about it and end up laughing alone I’m so sorry)
Lady Sif: Proud. She saw you kick butts with your magic, doing this weird spells and she just…melt?, she was like “THAT’S MY GIRLFRIEND THAT’S HER”. She will be so proud and happy and will fall even more for you, she will watch you with heart eyes emojis.
Loki: Lady Y/L/N is an amazing sorceress!
Sif: *heart eyes emoji* yes she is
Thor: I agree brother! Lady Y/N is an amazing sorceress, she’s very powerful
Loki: perhaps she can teach me a thing or-
Sif: if you end that sentence I’ll cut you in half, and if you haven’t noticed already…she’s mine
Sharon Carter: Awe. You were a few inches from the door when it burst open revealing Sharon fighting with I-don’t-know-who but he was winning, you quickly went to help her using your magic to kick his ass. Sharon was sitting on the floor, grabbing the side of her body, looking at you wide eyes. After you help her sit on the couch you used your magic again to heal her, she watches the patron of bright runes being plastered on her skin and later disappearing, leaving behind a warm sensation on her skin, and zero pain.
Sharon:” h-how did y-you…?”
Y/N: “ Maybe I forgot to tell you that I’m a sorceress…?…sorry”
Sharon: “sorry? don't’ be sorry! that is awesome, you are awesome!”
Maria Hill: Confused. She has checked your file before, and she would have noticed the words Sorceress in it, she would have known this, her job is based on knowing this kind of things!, so how could she not notice that?. She was confused, for a second there were 5 agents corralling the two of you, and in the next second, the floor was changing his form, and you were fighting with what seems to be a weird looking whip. The whole situation was …confusing
Maria:”…what the hell just happen?”
Y/N: “ I’m a sorceress, and I just save your ass, now let’s get goi-”
Maria: “…what? since when you are harry potter?!, I would have noticed that!”
Y/N: “I’m not Harry Potter and you were too immersed in my beauty of course”
Maria: “ Oh shut up you jerk”
Y/N: “I know you love me”
Maria: “yeah yeah I do…potter”
Y/N: *sigh* “you are not going to let that go right?”
Maria: “never~”
Peggy Carter: Astonished. She wasn’t even surprised when Stark showed her the flying cars he invented, and she has seen craziest things, but she can gladly say that you were the one who astonished her the most.  She got face to face with a magician that end up being a crazy man who was obsessed with an ancient book, and claim to be the ruler of the earth. She didn’t believe that crap, and when she told you about it, you feared for her. So you come along the next time she was face to face with the magician, and for her surprise, he could actually use magic, and for her surprise again, you could also use magic, but way better than him, she was astonished.
Peggy: “What in the bloody hell was that!?”
Y/N: “..me?”
Peggy: *she glared at you*
Y/N: “wow okay okay .. I’m a sorceress”
Peggy: “…well that’s…impossible”
Y/N: “…you are not mad?”
Peggy: “mad? no…shocked…yes”

You found out early the next morning why Frigga had been so insistent that you needed to get back to bed. And why she had insisted you needed proper rest.  Loki shook and prodded and pestered you  awake in the morning. He had to fight through the sleeping potion to get you awake and out of bed. He had to threaten to dump you in a pond outside to wake you up before you finally stood on your own. He steered you to the bathroom and told you that you would feel better after a bath. The hot water did help wash the last of the sleep away.
Loki had left an outfit on the counter outside of the bath for you. You smiled at his thoughtfulness and put on the clothes he had provided. You were surprised that the outfit was was much simpler than yesterday’s fancy dress. It was a simple blue tunic and soft black leggings. You ran a bit of magic through your hair to dry it and went to go find your Loki.
He was waiting for you on the couch in his sittingroom reading a book, as per usual. He looked up when you came in and gave you a beaming smile. “Feeling better?” he asked.  You nodded; the shower really had helped. He motioned for you to join him on the couch. You kissed him first, but then sat next to him. “Turn around,” he told you, taking your shoulders and shifting you so your back was to him. He ran his long thin fingers through your hair and slowly began to braid it, talking as he did. “Mother’s potions pack quite punch even for us. I’m not sure she took into account that you’re human when she prepared the one for you. I’m glad she was at least not too far off in the preparation. I’ll have to let her know she made it a bit too strong for you though. When I was young, I thought it was a punishment for having to be dragged back to bed to have to take one of her sleeping potions. I realized eventually that she intended it as a kindness to make sure I actually got some sleep.” You heard the fond smile in his voice. You also didn’t mind that he was braiding your hair, it seemed to soothe him and he was surprisingly good at it. You ended up with it braided back away from your face with the rest hanging in loose curls down your back. “We have just enough time to get breakfast before your appointment.” He announced when he was finished with your hair.
“What appointment?” you asked, confused. He hadn’t told you about any appointments.
He sighed and hesitated, but finally answered when you wouldn’t give up.  You could stare him into giving up and that was the skill you used not. “I am taking you to see the soul healer,” he finally said. He must have sensed your reluctance to go along with that plan. Smart man.
“Loki, I don’t need a shrink. I’m fine,” you told him heatedly. It wasn’t acceptable to openly see psychiatrists on Earth. It showed weakness.  At least that’s what you’d always believed.
“Darling, I love you dearly, but you are not ok. There is no shame in not being ok. I feel the wounds on your soul and I feel your heart bleeding. If the wounds were on your flesh instead, you would not deny that you must see a healer.” His tone was gentle and kind. He was coaxing and you knew you were going to fail. “You might complain about having to stay in the hospital, but you would not deny that you needed to be there,” he added with a smirk.  Your hatred of the hospital was legendary.
You sighed. “Fine,” you finally replied. You didn’t have a choice especially since he was right. “But I’m not going to like it,” you grumbled instead of laughing. His face fell and he looked sad. You felt bad instantly, he had only been trying to help. “I’m sor-”
“No, darling. You are correct.  You will not like it,” he said sadly. He pulled you into his arms for his reassurance instead of your. He shook off the mood quickly and stood, pulling you up beside him. “We should go to breakfast before Thor comes looking for us.”
You laughed and took his hand. “You could stop Thor with magic,” you reminded him, curious as to why he never took that action.
Loki sighed heavily and looked grumpy.  “I cannot. There are two reasons: firstly, according to Mother and her many lectures of the years, it is against the rules of fair play in brotherly arguments unless he does something truly offensive; secondly and most importantly, my magic does not work against my brothers,” he sounded grumpy. You laughed, but filed that piece of information away.
You had a nice quiet breakfast with Thor and Sif. Odin and Frigga had already eaten and Torun was elsewhere doing toddler things. “Loki, you and Lady Y/N should probably be going soon,” Sif reminded him gently when you had dawdled too long at breakfast. You and Loki both looked away from her. You were dawdling and she was ruining our dawdling.
“You are correct, Sister,” Loki finally answered. You bid them goodbye and promised to see them later. Loki led you through the palace halls, his arm wrapped around you as you walked. “I’m sorry, love, but this is going to be hell on you. It is important healing, but the process shrinks months and years of emotional and psychological healing into a few hours,”
“That sounds awful,” you finally replied, getting scared.
“It will be,” he agreed. “But darling, I can feel your soul bleeding from the wounds there.” You thought you understood what he meant. You had been raped, had your powers blasted open, and killed two people, all fairly recently. You knew you needed this, much as you hated to admit it.
You entered a room in the healing wing. You stopped short, surprised when you saw Frigga waiting for you. Loki just chuckled at you as he pulled you the rest of the way into the room. “Darling, my Mother is the most gifted healer in the world. You should not be surprised that it is she who will be doing the healing,”
“But she’s the Queen,” you hissed in his ear while Frigga was laughing at us. Mostly at you  you was sure. That was too high an honor for a little earth girl.
Loki rolled his eyes and sighed. “Darling, you forget that you are a princess now that you are my soulbond. It would be an insult for you to be seen by anyone less than the best healer in the realm. Now kindly sit down so Mother can heal you,” he steered you into the chair directly in front of Frigga’s chair and held you there with his hands on your shoulders.
“Shall we begin, dear?” Frigga asked, holding out her hands palm up. You were scared, but nodded and placed your hands on top of hers. Loki let go of your shoulders when it was clear you was going to behave. An instant later, Frigga and her healing magic were in your mind. She was no-nonsense in her approach to healing. The first thing she did was heal the part of your mind that had gotten blasted away when the blocks on your powers had gotten ripped away. She was able to heal the control centers there when all of the healers at the compound hadn’t been able to.
The next hours of healing were hell. You visited all of the memories that were making your soul bleed and worked through your psychological issues with things that had happened, all the way back to the death of your parents. It was years of healing, years of learning to deal with the things you had done, and had been done to you, all condensed into a few long torturous hours. The scars on your soul would always be there, but after the healing, you could live with them and not let them eat you  alive.
You and Frigga both blinked back to reality at the same time when the healing spells ended. Loki was waiting for you, reading a book as per usual. He looked up when you moved. “Is it finished?” he asked Frigga. She nodded.
“It is,” she replied. She looked tired too, but not nearly as much as you felt. Loki came over to you and offered both of you a hand.
“I have a surprise for my two favorite ladies,” he told you both warmly. You both smiled up at him and took his offered hands at nearly the same time. He helped you to our feet, which was necessary as you were both stiff from sitting in the same position for hours. Frigga placed a hand on his arm, apparently used to being escorted by her sons. You took a step back, letting him have the moment with his Mother. He gave you a look, grabbed your hand, and made sure it was on his arm too. “I am escorting both of my favorite ladies,” he repeated himself firmly.
You zoned out during the walk, too exhausted from the hours of hell. Thankfully, the walk wasn’t long and it ended in a private dining room where Loki had an elegant lunch set out for you. He pulled out Frigga’s chair first, and then your. He was looking extra concerned over you. You tried convincing him that you were alright, but stopped before you even started. He would spot the lie. “Do not fear, Y/N. It is perfectly normal to feel fragile after a soul healing. It was also a quite a bit of magic and work, dear. It is also normal to be exhausted. I’m sure Loki has a nice quiet afternoon planned for you,” she explained with a smile. You smiled back at her and managed to eat the delicious meal Loki had acquired for you while they chatted and caught up. You tried hard to pay attention to their conversation and join in, but it was so hard when your brain felt like mush and your very soul was sore.
“Thank you for everything today, Mother,” Loki told her. “Shall I escort you back to the throne room?” he asked. She smiled at him.
“Anything for you, dear, and it was a pleasure to help your soulbond. I, however, am perfectly capable of returning to the rest of my duties without an escort,”
Loki gave her a look. “Mother…” She held up a hand to stop his protest. He continued anyway. “You raised me to be a gentleman. A gentleman would not leave his mother without an escort,” he added. She smiled at him.
“And you will not,” she agreed. Torun burst into the room.
“Grandma!” she exclaimed, running to meet Frigga. Frigga had gotten up so she could hug the toddler.
“Right on time, Torun,” she told her. “See, my escort has arrived. Thank you for lunch, Loki. I will see you and Y/N at dinner tonight,” she looked at you more softly, more gently. “Feel better, dear. It will get better, you promise,”
“Thank you, Your Majesty,” you replied formally, standing to curtsy to her. You still weren’t sure around her. She was so open and friendly, and obviously loved your affect on her son, but she was also still the queen. The moment she and Torun had left on whatever adventure Torun had planned, Loki swept you up in his arms. You didn’t even protest, just wrapped your arms around his neck.
“Quiet afternoon, right?” you asked him softly.
“Nice quiet afternoon,” he promised. “Just what you need.” He carried you to a quiet nook in a garden surrounded by rose bushes. He summoned the book about Hiccup the Viking for you and you sat in the garden together for the afternoon. “How are you feeling?” he asked, hours later.
“Like my brain is mush and my soul is bruised,” you replied, snuggling closer to him on the bench you were sitting on.
Loki chuckled.  “That sounds about right,” he agreed. You stayed there until the bells tolled in the evening. “We have to go to dinner. I swear we will escape as soon as is seemly,” Loki promised you. You sighed, but nodded. He held out a hand to you and when you took it, a brief green light of his magic shimmered over you and you were both dressed in formal wear for the dinner. He held out his arm to you in a formal bow. You giggled and placed your hand on his arm, allowing him to escort you  to dinner like a princess, forgetting that here, you actually were one.
Dinner was a long, boring affair and lasted way too long. Especially since Odin kept wanting to steal Loki’s attention all night and hold him there talking forever and ever. Thor came over to save you. “Brother, stay and catch up with Father. I will escort your soulbond back to your suite safely,” he offered. Loki looked over at you and you saw the pure hope in his expression that his father was actually going to give him some proper attention and maybe some praise.
“I’ll see you back at our suite after you’ve caught up with your Father,” you replied. You was trying really hard to be as polite as everyone else in this setting. It was hard when you was so exhausted from the healing earlier. Thor offered you a hand. You took it and let him escort you from the room. “Where’s Sif and Torun?” you asked him once you were safely out of the dining hall.
“They returned to our suite already. Torun was sleepy. I will let Sif know you were concerned for her safety. She will appreciate the sentiment,” he smiled at you.
“You don’t have to walk me home,” you told him. “I’m perfectly capable of walking back to Loki’s suite alone. You should go be with your wife.”
He just gave you a look. “Sister, that is not how things are done. My brother entrusted me with your safety. I do not take that lightly. Also you are my sister. Your protection is my duty. And I like you, little imp. You are good for Loki and you make him happy. The least I can do is see you home after the healing you went through today,” you smiled up at him, but tugged him to a stop.
“Hold on for a second,” you managed to find enough concentration in your mushy brain to use magic to change your outfit from formal wear to Earth pajamas. You couldn’t concentrate enough to focus on clothes that would fit in on Asgard, so your magic picked what you knew. Flannel pajama pants and a short sleeved pajama top. “Much better,” you commented and took Thor’s arm again.
“My brother has given you the gift of his magic, I see,” Thor commented.
You nodded. “It came through the soulbond,” you explained. You had a feeling your words were slurring.  Thor looked concerned. You held up a hand before he could get any ideas. “I don’t need you carrying me to bed,” you informed him firmly.
He pouted. “You’re no fun,” he complained, getting a laugh out of you . He walked you all the way to the door of Loki’s suite. “Stay in the suite tonight? I would rather not have to find you in the middle of the night again”
“We’ll try, but no promises,” you stuck your tongue out at him and ducked into the suite while he was still spluttering.
“Lock the door!” he yelled through the closed door. You sighed, but locked the door as you were bid. You curled up on the couch next to the fireplace with your book to wait for Loki to get back.
