I need a fanfic where Obito marries Rin and Sasuke and Naruto get together, so Kakashi and Sakura start platonically living together.

It's mostly a character study??? Maybe?? On how Kakashi already devoted himself to protecting her if Sasuke and Naruto weren't around, on how they are so similar, how it feels to be left behind even if your team doesn't realize it.

If you think about it?

Well, imagine Sakura and Kakashi both fell for an Uchiha and had a jinchuriki be in love with them, only for the Uchiha to be interested only in your jinchuriki friend. Soon they get together and you start to feel like you're in the middle of something you are not part of. You still know they love you a lot, but it's not like you can erase the romance you were waiting for from your dreams.

And then you can add the fact that Gai and Rock Lee are kinda obsessed (in the good sense!) with Sakura and Kakashi. Neither Sakura nor Kakashi find them annoying, since Rock Lee and Gai were a source of strength when their team couldn't be there for them. Gai and Lee are their inspiration in so many senses. It's just another relationship they share, weirdly, funnily.

Of course they have their unique bonds, like the one Sakura shares with Ino, or the one Kakashi has with Tenzo. It doesn't mean that the themes are not shared: You see, Tenzo's wood release and Ino's whole deal with flowers are all about bloom and growth. Tenzo is that solid surface Kakashi can rely on when he feels he can't keep standing, the scarecrow that needs something to keep him upright. Ino is that force urging Sakura to open up to the world, to stop hiding who Sakura is for the sake of others; Ino is the gardener and Sakura is the flower.

There's the issue with their parents, who were not bad people, but who weren't there for Kakashi and Sakura while they grew up. Even when they love their parents, there's a void there, a tension, some distance that resonates and makes the absence loud and clear. Who Kakashi and Sakura are is not a product of some parenting: it's personal effort and being obstinate to no end.

Kakashi and Sakura greatly value each other. The proof is in the way they refuse to let each other carry alone their burdens. It's never as clear as it is when Sasuke is involved: in the Land of Iron, they tried to kill Sasuke to take the burden of killing a friend from Naruto's shoulders, but also because Kakashi didn't want that for Sakura either and she didn't want Kakashi to deal with it alone. Later, in the fight with Kaguya, Sasuke compares Kakashi to Sakura in how useless they were because they were mere humans in a fight with (basically) some goddess.

Kakashi and Sakura both suffer for not being able to free their teammates from the hurt. There's no doubt they would if they could. Not being strong enough, not being fast or skilled enough, being "useless" is their greatest nightmare. There isn't a day that Kakashi and Sakura don't hate their own weaknesses, there's not a night that they don't hate themselves for not being able to do more.

I don't know... It'd be interesting to study Kakashi in a more romantic light while Sakura is able to have more of a platonic centric growth. It would be entertaining, at least. What if Kakashi finally confesses out loud that he was in love, but he can only do it because he knows Sakura might be the only other person alive who understands what it is like to love an Uchiha? What if it is Kakashi who helps Sakura realize how many friends are there for her? How she can find fulfilment outside of the promises and dreams that are no more?

I also like a lot to see serious platonic relationships with age gaps, where the adult doesn't take any advantage given the difference in their experience and shows they can learn from the younger one.

A relationship that can't be described with nuclear family roles (father & daughter), the type where hierarchical roles are part of the drama because they see each other as equals, but even then they can't shake their responsibilities for the sake of their bond (Kakashi forced to send Sakura on a dangerous mission because he's the Hokage and she's a kunoichi, or Kakashi very openly refusing to use his status as her former sensei to force her to do something she doesn't want to do).

They are friends, just not the typical one... They're two different types of mirrors, reflecting broken images. And if they find in each other a bit of all the things they've lost and missed and they have hoped for, not enough to replace the originals but enough to lessen the hurt? Then, it's only natural they find easy companionship in each other.

A lot more people seemed interested in my interpretation of Underlust than I thought so fuck it, LORE POST

I'm putting this under read more because of length, but also while this is not a NSFW post there is talk of NSFW subjects and a slight tw for talk of non-con (it's not GRAPHIC or the main topic but it's talked about)

Also pls keep in mind none of this is meant to bash the og creator despite how problematic they are, this is simply my take on it

Without further adieu

UNDERLUST BUT I WRITE IT

I'll keep the basic premise, less in the sense that the underground was struggling with extreme fertility issues and more so that after falling into the underground it had entered a massive depression. Monsters were losing hope faster than ever, relationships weren't being formed and underpopulation quickly became a problem

Toriel and Asgore quickly realized that if something wasn't done they would be on the verge of extinction. So both to encourage monsters to have children AND to hopefully bring monsters out of this depressive funk they decided to push for a very sex positive culture

The two publicly opened their own marriage as example, they both started their own royal harems, they hired celebrities to put a focus on fun and sex appeal and even made so being a sex worker was a government job thus having a lot of benefits as well as a certain level of natural respect that professions such as military ranks or post workers get

The end result did actually help, monsters started having relationships and the environment became a lot less somber. It wasn't their intention to start an otherwise very hedonistic culture but that did come the end result. Do a lot of monsters do dress provocatively, there is a lot of brothels, clubs and there's a much heavier focus on drugs, drinking, etc, than there ever was in the vanilla undertale

So this is less "Undertale but everyone is OUTRAGEOUSLY HORNY all the time" and more Undertale if everyone was raised in an environment where it was just natural to be open about your sexuality. Think basically if you were trapped in Vegas 24/7

So some important things to note in general

Toriel and Asgore not only have kids, but a lot more than they did canonically. All of them are alive and as a result both of them are noticeably a lot older. Both silver foxes who can still get it tho, they're also still together technically but as said before open poly marriage with their own harems

Asriel is around and a full ground adult in this AU, his design is very similar to his hyper death god form and in this AU he's the one you meet in the ruins not Tori. He's not trapped there he's just a hermit (he flirts with the player but it's clear he's joking I headcanon Az as aroace lmao)

As those last two things imply Flowey is not around either

The amalgamations aren't around either, the monsters that created of them have simply fallen and passed. Alphys is still the royal scientist yes but we'll expand more on that later

No other humans have fallen into the underground therefore there are no human souls in Asgores possession and therefore there are no orders to kill any humans to gather said souls

The royal guard still exists, there is no "royal sluts" like in the original AU as funny as it would be. But it's noticeably more lax and even then like typical military bros they frequent strip shows, brothels, etc.

This also very importantly leads me to the next big thing that's very different about my interpretation of Underlust

Mettaton

This is not a post made to critique the og AU, but I will say I simply never cared for how he was handled in the original. In my interpretation Mettaton isn't hypersexualized either, though not afraid to use sex appeal here or there but his main role is basically the head honcho of the sex worker industry

The MTT Resort is a lot more expansive in this universe, covering nearly all of hot land, the capital, a decent chunk of water fall, and even has a smaller location in Snowdin. It is basically Vegas for lack of a better comparison, with a lot of strip shows, nsfw areas, bars, and even places where you can gamble

Mettaton is still a performer and not a sex worker himself, he still has family friendly segments but also late talk night shows for his older audience (it's not sexual not counting the ha ha funny raunchy jokes), he is strictly in his Mettaton EX form from the start not his boxy one and I can't draw for shit but if I could his aesthetic would he very pimp inspired dw it's just an aesthetic though he's a good boss

Further more when a lot of monsters being employed under him as show girls and/or sex workers this where I have to mention in this AU both Sans and Papyrus work for Mettaton. The former as an entertainer and escort, the latter as security (but Mettaton does give Pap a somewhat suggestive outfit so make of that what you will), various other characters are also employed under him but not all as prostitutes, Muffet for example has her own area dedicated to selling baked goods as well as managing the rooms of the guests.

Which leads us to the next talking point

Sans

I like to nickname Lust Sans as simply "Ace" for context, but what's different about him here aside from the obvious parts of being a sex worker, being very flirty and dressing different? Well first things first

This Sans is not aware of resets nor does he have ANY memory of them

Doesn't make sense for him too, no other humans, no determination experiments, flowey isn't around, etc, etc. The only time anyone gets the ability to reset is when the player falls into the underground and the most he'll be aware is having similar moments of deja vu that other characters get, but for the most part? Man isn't even aware that's a thing people can do

Adding onto that he's a lot less....depressed in this AU, ppl tend to forget that the knowledge of resets has upset Sans greatly. Man is DEPRESSED and it's at least part of the reason for his extreme laziness, literally takes the end of the world for him to get off his ass and do something (genocide route)

Ace as a result is a lot more proactive and noticeably less pessimistic, not to say he doesn't have any issues, the thing about this underground is the hedonistic culture is in a way to cope with the general depressing situation of the underground with Sans being no exception

I also like to think he doesn't have 1 HP as a result too, it's still low but not determentally low

For the most part he is still Sans, he's a lot more flirtatious and a low more show boaty that his Undertale counterpart but he's also still a silly little guy who loves to joke around and make puns. There's definitely a comedic twist to any of his performances, can you do a comedy routine during a live sex show or something akin to that? Idk but it's Sans he probably finds a way

And it's also worth noting that you don't encounter this Sans in Snowdin, you probably won't even officially meet him until you hit the MTT Resort. But you do see posters in Snowdin and hear talk about him at Grillby's (yes Grillby's is more of a nightclub here and Sans does frequent it just not as often)

Next question though

Frisk and Chara?

If you haven't figured it out, Chara never fell into the underground and was never adopted by the Dreemurrs, never died, etc. Chara is not in this AU in any form and adding onto that Frisk is not the character that we play as in this hypothetical Underlust Game

It does not make sense to include them and I cannot think of a way to include them that doesn't feel...weird somehow. Obviously it would be inappropriate to include them as children, but even if you aged them up you have to deal with characters possibly making advances on them and I uh- don't like that

So simply put they are just not here. So who do we play as in Underlust?

You play as whoever you want!

In my interpretation the protagonist is strictly 100% customizable so it can be your own OC or just a self insert, the only things that are for certain about the protagonist are:

They're human They're an adult The have the soul trait of "Lust"

Next question? What does it mean to have the "Lust" trait?

First off, your soul is pink in this AU!

Due to monsters not being as willing to attack humans (not all of them are super friendly mind you but you aren't entering battles left and right), having the Lust trait doesn't allow for a unique battle mode. Instead it allows you to enter "conversation battles" for lack of a better word

Think of it as being similar to the "Back talk challenges" in Life is Strange before the Storm, your ability comes to be able to charm, convince, befriend or even possibly manipulate others to progress through the underground. And yes hypothetically use seduction to get your way

How you use this ability is up to you, you can be as sweet as a peach only using the most moral method to progress or you can be a two faced bitch playing mind games. And just to clarify the option to sleep with characters is not treated as being either bad or good (unless you use it as a form of manipulation), you can go through the entire underground not being even a little sexually active or you can progress through it sleeping with nearly everyone you get a chance with

Neither option will reflect on your characters morality, the only thing that does is how you choose to treat others

Now....

Genocide Route? Pacifist Route? What's the end goal here?

This is where I confess that this is the one aspect I haven't 100% figured out so I'm down to hear some thoughts as I think ideally there would be multiple endings so far all I have is

-> Lustbound Ending (You choose to just stay in the underground) -> Bloodlust Ending (The genocide route) -> Lust Freed Ending (Neutral Route, you killed a boss monster then escaped the underground)

A genocide and neutral routes are possible in this AU, but its different as you 100% have to be the aggressor in this situation, I would like for there to be something akin to a trust pacifist ending where the underground is freed but I haven't 100% figured out how that would happen given that there aren't any human souls or Flowey in this AU

Other Stuff that I want to bring up but didn't fit into the other categories

Asriel does give you a phone and you can call him through out the underground, unlike Toriel he definitely answers though he takes on a similar role to Papyrus in this AU since you don't befriend the skelebros until later in the story

As mentioned before the amalgamations never happened, Alphys didn't experiment with determination in this AU. When Asgore and Toriel were pushing for a more sex positive culture, they requested her help (thus why Mettaton has his glam body from the start) but also to help the under population problem Alphys worked on drugs that basically functioned as aphrodisiacs / viagara to help monsters further populate

This....helped but backfired a bit as monsters started to use these substances for less than savory purposes (you can figure out the rest), but it made her guilty enough to disband ever working on them again, but the damage was still done and it is a part of the reason why there's a noticeable drug culture in the underground now that just wasn't there before

While I lean hardcore into the underground is just Vegas with the focus on booze, sex, etc, there are areas that are just normal. Mainly the Ruins, most of Snowdin, and of course Asgore's castle

Another thing I want to clarify is that the hedonistic life style isn't entirely bad, it did help the underground and pulled monsterkind as a whole out of a great depression. It is simply a different way of coping with a bad situation that a lot of monsters have taken to. That being said, it's not entirely good either as mentioned above there are problems and risks with life styles like this

Is it the right way to handle it? The wrong way to handle it? Does it matter because some monsters are finally happy now? Who's to say, a fun debate to be had for sure but the entire point is that there's a lot of room for debate to be had about it

But also like I said I haven't 100% figured out everything about my Underlust interpetation so I'm down to hear some thoughts and you are always welcomed to ask some questions

Willuz - you think Amity's arc was rushed. You feel bad for Willow, cause she was "separated" from Luz and Amity in s2 and think she became an ooc in s2 and miss Willow from s1.

Lunter - you think Lumity and Huntlow were written bad. "Highschool romance" is never your otp. You prefer classic (in any way). You're probably on aro spec or believe in soulmates. You and your crush always tease each other. You're good at keeping secrets.

Goldric - it started as a joke, but you don't think it's a joke anymore. When Huntlow appeared you realized you went too far to change anything. Also you just want to have more mlm couples in media.

Huntmira - it started as a respond to goldric shippers, but then you realized it actually has a great potential and their dynamic would be amazing.

Gunter - I haven't seen you, but I really hope you just want all good things for both of them and also think Gus is criminally overlooked.

Odalador - you want Blight family to be actually good, happy and health family and I can't blame you for it. Also you wanna know more about Alador, Darius and Odalia's friendship in the past. You also think deep inside Odalia isn't as bad or at least want her to have at least some good traits.

Dalador - you really hate Odalia and want Alador and kids to be happy, but not with her. You also think Odalia was a third wheel in their friendship and, again, you hate her in all possible ways

Odarius - Im not sure if you're exist, but if you do, you just find them both hot and want them to fuck. If you also ship them with Alador as a poly ship, then you want them not only to fuck, but also to have some romantic stuff together. But if you're a straight girl, then you're probably just wanna Odalia in this ship.

Daraine - you think Darius as bi and you probably ship Daraeda too. Also you think Darius is underrated.

How did you figure out you're aromantic?

Oh, god, what a short question for such a long process, hahaha. First off, didn't figure it out until recently, age 27, but here was the approximate (and very truncated in the amount of internal conflict and introspection involved) step-by-step process:

Figured out I was queer in high school because I felt the same way about women as I did about men! Spent about 5 years thinking I was bisexual.

Figured out that I'm not actually attracted to men when I read a post describing the experience of compulsory heterosexuality and related with it intensely, which was a very freeing experience. Spent 6 years thinking I was a (nonbinary) lesbian!

Hooked up at parties a couple of times out of curiosity and then took up my best friend's offer to fuck and realized that I got the same amount of skin-crawling distaste about that as I did about sexual contact with men, thus realizing I was ace.

Let that domino tip over into the, "Actually, identifying as gay has for a long time given me the same anxiety as I used to feel when I thought I'd have to date a man, and also I'm 27 years old and have never, ever actually wanted to date another human being. When people ask me what my ideal partner is like, I start listing off ways in which they should not bother me or demand my time or be part of my life. Maybe I just don't want... anyone." domino, and the subsequent "I'M FREE!! (from trying to date women)" euphoria was identical to the "I'M FREE!! (from trying to date men)" euphoria, so.

That's where I'm at!

I'm a generally introspective person, but I'm also really great at gaslighting myself into ignoring my own discomfort, so largely it's been, haha, a diagnosis of exclusion. First I excluded men, then the discomfort with women grew large enough that I was able to exclude them as well. Reading about other people's experiences and realizing where they paralleled my own was immensely helpful! So was being close friends with a very poly person who slowly and fully unintentionally changed my perspective on how I view relationships in a very poly-and-relationship-anarchy-as-default way, which incidentally is extremely compatible with aroace queerplatonic ideals and definitely softened me up to be ready to accept that particular realization.

Early life / Elementary School:

- Parents are Actors / Models, very busy life and both are emotionally absent. Aunt stepped in as a role model

- As she continued elementary school, she ended up being a child actor for commercials and a model too

- Many people thought she was cool at first, but when they realized she was really into magical girl shows they thought she was weird. Not many friends because of this, yet still shares about it.

- Very cheery child!!! Is very sweet as well! Also regarded as a very cute kid!

- Another photoshoot, she met a girl who was being broody in a corner. As she talked with her more, she figured out she was upset because her dad left her family for someone else. Sakura comforted her a lot, and they quickly became friends. (Met Ayaka Mochizuki)

Middle school:

- Her parents got her a manager (Referred to as Manager R)

- Manager R began to get extremely concerned with the quality of her work, so she made her re-do assignments until they were “perfect” (Perfectionistic habits mold from this, also makes her think the only way she’ll be loved if she is perfect)

- Got a major role on a TV Show, played an important side character. Many people shipped her character with another character in the show. This lead for both of their managers to meet and agree for them to fake date for popularity and profit.

- The other actor didn’t like being in a relationship at all. Began to secretly insult her behind the cameras and manipulated her. Made her purposefully stop eating as much and made her insecure about her body. She begun to hate herself for what she was, and fell into a dark period of her life.

- Ayaka and Kokoro tried their best to make her feel better. They then decided together that they should just leave the country entirely for the benefit of all of them. Ayaka’s mom lives in Japan and Kokoro’s parents didn’t care about her so they could easily move there, it’s only Sakura’s manager that they have to remove.

- For about 5 months, the trio tries their best to remove Sakura’s manager from her life. The breaking straw is when she protested during a photoshoot snd left immediately. Manager R immediately cut off contact with her and she was free.

- Moved to Japan during her 8th grade year under the supervision of Ayaka’s mom. She temporarily enrolled in a school and was slowly reviving her old personality.

- During finals season, Sakura decided that they should all become idols at Yumenosaki. Ayaka and Kokoro also agree to this plan. With Kokoro’s connections with the Tenshouin family, they finally get a chance to enroll at Yumenosaki academy.

Summer before 1st year:

- Went to a festival with Ayaka and Kokoro. They ended up getting lost and Sakura decided to wander around. Accidentally stumbled upon Shinobu (he was lost too) and they began talking. They realize that even though they dont have much in common, they were very similar. They became friends for the day and they help each other get prizes and stuff. (Key moment is when Sakura guessed how many marbles were in a jar and won a plushie of a frog and a fox. She ended up giving the frog plushie to Shinobu.)

- Didn’t get each other contact info, ended up loosing contact sadly. Sakura still remembers him as “The boy with pretty hair.” Keeps the plushie she won dear to her heart.

Basically it for main lore before yumenosaki 🎉 another post will be made about 1st - 3rd year lore in the future 🎊

I love the Dunmeshi Sims! Did you use any of the Sims 4 custom gender options for them? I ask because I feel like Izutsumi in particular has an extremely "meh" approach to the whole concept, and goes by she/her "by default" without really caring, so I'm interested if you've done anything special with anyone's gender or just gone for standard male and female options? Same with anyone's sexuality - again, in particular I'm thinking of Izutsumi being ace!

Yes, I used those features for almost everyone. XD

For Izutsumi tho, she's a teen in my save, goes by "default" she/her but if there's an option, she would use "any" because I think she just straight up doesn't care, the same for sims Mithrun. Fleki and Lycion use they/them in my save. My Izutsumi is aroace too because it doesn't make sense otherwise!

Mostly, I didn't do anything special about their gender because tbh I really can't decide, I have too many HCs for them that even the options seem limited and I focus on farming gameplay too much that I don't get to explore those features in action... but if this is anything, Falin only wears ill-fitted masculine clothes (just like in daydream hour) and Mithrun has a unisex approach (mostly t-shirts and pants or skirt over pants. I must say, creating him from TS4 masculine frame is very much a hard work, I almost switched to feminine one but I'm using a body preset to make him look androgynous)

Round 1; Dandelions 1 Vs A bouquet of willows and chives

First, let's talk about the Dandelions 1

Why this flower was chosen: Dandelions, bc they 1) are not native to where this character creator is from. This character grew up in a kingdom that wasn't too fond of half-elves, and never quite belonged with the rest bc of that. 2) Survive and thrive in extreme + hostile environments- again, she grew up with a lot of things stacked against her, but manages to stay happy and optimistic despite it all. 3) are really cute, and she is also really cute. 4) she's dandelion coded. Description: in another world, where she'd been born in a happier place, she would've been a scholar, studying ancient religions and magic. if she'd been born in a modern world, she'd be a gamer. unfortunately, neither of these are true, and instead she's a half-elf wizard who grew up in a very oppressive kingdom that hates pretty much everyone who isn't a high elf or a drow. she's bought fully into her country's propaganda, and struggles to be seen as "good enough." because she grew up an outsider due to being a half-elf, she didn't really have any friends, (especially since the wizard training school she went to was like. i cant even think of a fictional example bad enough. it had a fucking mortality rate, schools shouldnt really have those), other than her sentient spellbook (whose sentience she had to keep a secret from everyone for fear he'd be taken away and she'd be alone). she's an unpaid intern for one of the ruling council of the kingdom. she was sent on her current mission with the expectation that she wouldn't be coming back. she's sweet and helpful but doesn't really trust anybody except her spellbook. i love her

Music Rambling No. 7

I got given music!!!!!!! woooo!!! Sorted of ended up themed around Abuse-ken and minimalist string orchestras which is an odd combination to be sure.

FIREWATER by Abuse-ken - 4 minutes This and the other Abuse-ken piece were submitted by @aroace-poly-show. The chromatic phrases in this piece threw me initially. Actually briefly thought piece was completely using a pitch slider. It's just a lot of semitone motion done in such a way that it really well breaks down the tonality. The way it's down with the descending phrases while breaking up a standard diatonic sequence gives it this really nice sinking feeling. Very much enjoyed this. A lot of energy and it brings it all together very well with the chromaticism.

That Whale Is A Villian by Abuse-ken - 5 minutes This one is quite a nice piece. Got nice melodies and different sections that it shifts through. The different sections are well distinguished and all have their own nice moods. I do particularly like at one point in the chorus where it seems to be playing what sounds like some sort of overtone sound (or something similar. not entirely familiar with terminology for this stuff). I feel like there is something about this piece I'm missing though. Everything about it sounds good and I enjoy but I just don't feel like I quite understand what it's doing. Quite possible it's all in the lyrics which I can't really understand. Maybe it's just not my sort of music or I'm just not familiar enough with the genre. I did really enjoy it however and there is a lot to like with the song.

John Taverner - The Protecting Veil - 45 minutes This is a very slow and drawn out piece for Cello and String Orchestra. Feels like it'd function best as slow moving background music while you do something else really. The mood created is fascinating and there is enough shifts in sound throughout that it doesn't get entirely stale. The pieces is about something Christ something Constantinople 10th century. Not entirely sure but the video has program notes with what it means at the start. One of the most fascinating things about this piece to me is the way the Cello is used. It's almost always playing in the extremes of the upper register. It sounds almost like an Erhu to me at points. The string orchestra accompany it nicely and come in with some bell sounds every now and then that pull up the intensity a bit. Not entirely my sort of music as it's realistically a bit drawn out and slow moving for me, but overall quite nice.

Arvo Pärt - Tabula Rasa, mvt.1 - 10 minutes I'm 99% sure I've talked about this piece before, but the Protecting Veil did in fact remind me of some of my favourite Arvo Pärt works for string orchestra. The first movement of the Tabula Rasa is so phenomenally simple, yet contains so much in it. It's effectively a single pattern that is extended over and over with a pause in the middle for bell sounds (done with a prepared piano). The piece is self-similar in such a fascinating way. You almost get the feeling of being lost in the flow of repetition. It ends with a sort of cadence, but only after 9 minutes of constant repeating and extending the same one idea. An incredible piece of work and very much worth sitting down and listening to.

Arvo Pärt - Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten - 7 minutes Another phenomenally simple, yet startlingly effective piece by Arvo Pärt. The piece is for string orchestra and a single tubular bell in A. The piece was written following the death of Benjamin Britten, a well known composer through the mid to late 20th century. The entire piece can be boiled down to a single formula, and I have seen a good lecture on youtube somewhere that discusses this. I don't normally care for strictly formulaic music but Arvo Pärt always manages to do it in a way that really appeals to me. The piece is effectively a constantly descending A minor scale, that each time it plays through it plays an extra note of the scale. The phrase keeps repeating and slowly going down until it hits it's final note where it just rests for the remainder of the piece. And all five parts of the string orchestra do this same pattern. But there's more than that. Each part moves at half the speed of the layer above it. The violins play in quavers and minims, while the double basses play in full breves as the piece slowly sinks. This means the violins hit their final note well before the double basses do and just sit there waiting for the rest of the orchestra to catch up. All of this while the bell chimes away in the background. A slow and somewhat harrowing piece of nothing more than a slowly descending A minor scale. Really quite incredible.

one thing about fandom amatonormativity is ppl become so Blind to it bc it is so rampant. fanon is usually extremely amatonormative. actually, it usually cannot exist without amatonormativity being involved (at least in the dgs fandom) but bc it is so rampant and so common, ppl see it as 'normal' and then when they are challenged they get defensive and mean toward anyone who challenges them. this involves calling ppl homophobic for not liking the popular mlm ship or telling anyone with different hcs that they are 'ruining everyone's fun' for going against fanon. this also involves ppl getting harassed for having rarepairs or aroace hcs. i think sometimes ppl think they are just So Inclusive and Unproblematic bc they like a 'gay' ship when really they are being bigoted toward so many other types of queer ppl (bi, aro, ace, poly, etc)

like don't get me wrong i have fun with hcs too. but it's crossing the line into dangerous territory when you try to insist that your hcs are canon just bc so many other ppl share the same hc. you are hurting yourself and others by doing this

Figuring my sexuality:

It took me so long. Gods. I'm still figuring and feeling my way through.

At 10, I wrote about my wanting to know another woman's body. Not sexually - but just because a woman's body was so much more... right... for me. But I had no inkling that women who liked women were a concept, thanks to years upon years of watching on straight rep. I'd kissed girls by this point, but had no idea why I wanted to kiss girls and not boys when they asked.

At 13, I first came across (admittedly awful) gay representation in media, and I was absolutely stunned because what the fuck why was that boy kissing another boy.

At 14, I began watching and reading shounen ai and occasionally shouji ai because that was the only resource I knew where gay people existed and I felt a deep, burning curiosity to know more.

At 15, I worried whether I was imprinting another sexuality onto myself because somewhere in the back of my mind, I subconsciously began noticing how a woman's beauty stood out more in a crowd but hey, I was completely heterosexual, right - any thoughts of sex with women never interested me, so that meant I was straight, right? Plus, I had a crush on this one boy. Never mind thoughts of sex with him or indeed, any man didn't interest me either - straight was the default, so straight I was.

At 16, I pushed myself away from whatever I was feeling, genuinely terrified that I wasn't straight - what would I do? What would my family say? What if I wanted to marry? Never mind that this was the formative time I was coming out of my shell (and was therefore highly impressionable) and had just begun realising that women were so much more attractive to me than men, I forced myself to find more men attractive. I forced myself into a vague pseudo crush on my male classmate to try and make myself "properly straight" again.

At 17, I stopped forcing myself into a box not meant for me, because it helped exacerbate my mental illnesses to a point where I nearly attempted suicide. I allowed myself to realise that I liked women, and that I also liked men - but to a much smaller extent and finally was able to call myself a bisexual. I also shrugged off that crush I forced myself to develop - it was a surprising amount of relief, something I never realised had actually weighed on me.

At 18, I came to the realisation that the very, very few times I liked people, their gender did not matter - and when I was to have sex, I really didn't think that I'd have an issue with whatever their genitals were. That was a pansexual, yeah? That description fit me better than bisexual - so pansexual I was, and happy.

At 19, a very simple realisation hit me with the impact of a pan to the head - people did not view sex the way I did. Whenever I heard/read/saw anything pertaining to sexual desire, I always shrugged it off as exaggeration. I mean, I had some amount of libido too, so I knew what sexual desire was like, right? And it was barely anything! I'd never even feel a hint of it. So there people were, spinning tall tales about how they wanted to "fuck X person raw" or "treat Y person to a nice date and make love to them" - over and over and over again, in books, in shows, in movies, from friends around me, from friends of friends and absolute strangers -

Only those weren't tall tales. They were real, and something... something was up with me. I was the weird one. And once again, I was a fumbling 16 year old trying to deal with the consequences of realising that I didn't fit into the crowd - even among those termed "abnormal" and "outcasts" by society. Yeah, sure, asexuals were a thing - but they hated and disliked sex, didn't they? I had libido, and I didn't hate the thought of sex - so I wasn't asexual, there was something wrong with me.

At 20, my current age, I found out that asexuals are not just those who dislike sex, just those who do not feel sexual desire. Libido was something you could have, but you'd for the most part prefer to take care of by yourself and was more a chore than anything.

I cannot explain the relief I found on realising that there were others like me, who weren't the stereotype of a sexuality that is barely ever talked about or represented.

I stopped feeling like a broken machine, unable to fit in where I ought to.

There is nothing broken about me because of my romantic (grey-aro) or sexual orientation. I am a living, breathing human who laughs, cries, dreams and hopes like everyone else. There is nothing wrong or missing with asexuals, and it took me a long time to learn that.

My journey would have been so much easier for me if there were ace/aro characters in popular media, by the way. The cry of "Representation Matters!" can only be said so many times before it begins to lose the vast amount of meaning behind it - but before you consign it to background noise, think about why it's being said so many times over and over again.

Because it matters. I went through a decade imagining myself to be something I wasn't - because I had no idea there was something else I could relate to.
