More Highlights From the SOLDIER Group Chat
• Every time someone makes a grammatical mistake and butchers the English language, Genesis sends a copy of the Rosetta stone.
• Kunsel changing the group chat name to The Bad Bitch Brigade™
• Angeal's phone and microphone are broken as hell, but he refused to buy a new phone while his still works, so all of his audio messages make him sound like a chipmunk.
• Roche accidentally sent his "most to least attractive" list to the group chat. Genesis was at the very bottom. Genesis didn't shut up for six hours.
• Every time Sephiroth is questioned about something uncomfortable he responds with a model-esque selfie.
Lazard: Sephiroth did you break the training room again???
Sephiroth: *sends a picture perfect selfie of himself basking in the sunlight*
• Zack using the group chat as his personal journal until Lazard told him to stop because "No one wants to hear about the sweet potato shaped like a penis you had for lunch, Zackary, nor do we want to hear about the life advice the drunkard in sector 7 keeps giving you"
• On a similar note, Genesis uses the group chat as his personal to-do list. Lazard also had him stop after the items started getting more and more concerning. The last straw was:
1) Buy fireworks
2) Buy enough duct tape to hold a grown man
3) Summon Sephiroth to the rooftop at midnight
• Director Lazard thought the "😂" emoji meant a sad crying face, so he sent "I regret to inform you all that Mrs. Helen Thompson from the finance office has passed away 😂 💀"
• The day Genesis changed the group chat name to "LOVELESS study club" and began sending his LOVELESS analysis. Everyone left the group chat immediately. Including Lazard.
• The morning everyone hurried to the group chat to see why there were 5K messages. It turns out Kunsel and Zack were RP-ing.
• Sephiroth not knowing that "I'm dying" means the person is laughing. He twice sent paramedics to Genesis's office.
• Angeal, the admin, getting drunk and changing everyone's screen names to something ridiculous.
Sephiroth, Genesis and Zack became Mommy Issues, Used To Eat Chalk When We Were Six, and Hedgehog On Crack.
• Upon figuring out how to change the group chat name, Sephiroth changed it to The Mystery Penis™ Is [Redacted] and then turned his phone off.
• Zack sending a joke picture of him and Kunsel holding hands. Kunsel has hairy fingers so Angeal immediately responds with "WHAT DID YOU DO TO AERITH?"
• Sephiroth learns he doesn't need to respond to every messages and can instead use the reaction feature. This leads to gems such as:
Sephiroth reacted to - Genesis: SEPHIROTH, YOU LIMP DICK, DID YOU TELL LAZARD THAT I STOLE THE POPCORN MACHINE IN THE BREAK ROOM???: 👍
• Angeal changing the group chat name to "Dr. Phil audition tapes"
• Roche selling a used hair dryer and advertising it on the group chat as "USED HAIR, GOOD CONDITION, $20 GIL FREE SHIPPING
• That of course is followed by a mass advertisment spam where everyone is trying to sell their used products. Genesis in particular gets removed from the group chat for "ASSORTED TOYS, NEVER USED, SOLD TO ADULTS ONLY, $ 50 GIL A PIECE + AUTOGRAPH
• Genesis being removed allows Zack to advertise "BOX OF RANDOM SHIT I STOLE FROM GENESIS'S APARTMENT"
• Cloud, an infantryman who's secretly been a part of the group this whole time, finally outs himself the day Reno is discovered to be hiding in the group chat undercover.
• He sent this image:

jack hughes x fem! zegras sister! reader
summary: trevor finds out.
warnings: heated making out, angry twin brother z
a/n enjoy <3 ( the gif represents jack at the end lol )
masterlist part one
——————————————————————————
1 year later
"I need you gone again." Trevor blurted. The two were sitting in the living room watching a movie.
"Lemme guess, Jack's coming?" Y/n turned to her brother with a knowing look.
"Yeah and this time Griffin isn't here to say that I can't kick you out." Trevor held a proud smile. Y/n pulled her phone out and tapped on it for a moment before bringing it to her ear.
"He's trying to kick me out again." She said with a smirk before putting the phone on speaker.
"Trev, you can't kick her out." Griffin said as Trevor's face fell.
"Fine." He grumbled before crossing his arms and sinking into his side of the couch.
"Love you, Griff." Y/n hung up and putting her phone away.
"But he is still off limits." Trevor said.
Y/n was actually talking excited to see Jack. They had been secretly texting and calling. Trevor knew she had known that she was talking to someone but what he didn't know was that it was his best friend.
"Y/n was supposed to be going with Griffin to Cancun for break but she ended up stay so I'm sorry for my weird-ass sister." Trevor said from the drivers seat.
"Dude, she isn't even that bad." Jack defended sounding a bit standoffish. Trevor sent him a look, "I mean, like she's your sister."
"Yeah and she's a bitch. She's been bitchyer since she started talking to some guy. She won't even tell me or Griff who he is." Trevor ranted about his sister's mysterious guy.
He looked out the window in attempt to hide his smile. He knew who the mystery guy was. It was him.
Y/n laughed loudly as Jack said something stupid.
"I'm telling you! She was not real!" The two were dying of laughter.
"Helen Keller was real, J. She literally has a book." Y/n explained. The two were on the couch cuddling. Trevor had went out to pick up their dinner so the two were alone.
"Exactly! How the hell did she write a book if she couldn't see of right!" He defended.
"You're an idiot." Y/n said with a laugh.
"But I'm your idiot." He said leaning down for a kiss. Things quickly got heated.
The two were so in the moment that they didn't hear the door unlock.
Trevor dropped the pizza that he had been holding and screamed. Y/n and Jacked jumped away from each other.
"No! No! No! No!" Trevor said from the doorway as his face turned red.
"I told you that my little sister was off limits!" Trevor yelled at Jack before turning to Y/n, "And we made a pact that friends were off limits!"
Trevor was furious. He basically had steam fuming from his ears.
"Trev." Y/n reached out but Trevor pulled away and turned back to Jack. He shoved Jack against the wall making Y/n yelp.
"You do anything with her?" Trevor yelled.
"No! Dude, I would never! That's your little sister man." Jack exclaimed with wide eyes. Y/n was his twin sister but Y/n was younger than him by 5 minutes making her his little sister.
"Exactly. My little sister." Trevor said with disappointment. He let Jack go before turning to Y/n. His face was filled with a mix of betrayal and disappointment.
"Trev." Y/n attempted again.
"No." Trevor shook his head before walking out the door.
"Shit." Jack breathed out as tears slipped from Y/n's eyes.
"Are you ok?" Y/n asked turning to Jack. He could hear the heartbreak in her voice.
"I'm fine. Are you ok?" She nodded unsurly.
"Come here." He opened up his arms for her. The two stood their just hugging as Y/n cried. She just betrayed the most important person in her life.
Yeah, she had Griffin and her parents but Trevor was her TWIN brother. The two always argued but they always made up. This time she didn't know. She didn't if they would be able to come back after this.
It was around 1 am when Trevor got back home and Y/n was awake. Jack had fallen asleep on the couch. She couldn't sleep not until she was sure that he was okay.
"Hey." She said softly walking up to Trevor.
"Hi." He replied. The both of them couldn't look each other in the eye.
"I'm sorry." The two said at the same time making them finally look up at each other.
"You have nothing to be sorry for. I shouldn't have reacted that way. I went over bored. I should've just listened and heard you out." Trevor ranted but Y/n just pulled him into a hug.
"I should've told you." She said as he hugged back.
"It's ok. We're ok." Trevor said as they let go.
"Just if breaks your heart, it will hurt me to have punch him in the face since he is my best friend." Trevor smiled maming Y/n smile.
The next morning went by smoothly. Jack was confused. Everything seemed to be normal. Only thing was that Y/n had kissed him in the kitchen with Trevor sitting at the table.
"No PDA in front of me especially while I eat my breakfast." Trevor complained. Jack furrowed his brows.
"We still on for the rink later?" Trevor asked Jack with a smile.
"Yeah?" Jack answered but came out as more of a question.
"He knows. It's ok." Y/n said as Jack nodded slowly.
"You're not mad?" Jack questioned looking to Trevor.
Trevor shook his head, "But break her heart and I'll fucking kill you."
Trevor smiled as he said it. Y/n threw an empty water bottle at Trevor.
"Shut up, fartface." Y/n remarked which led to an argument between the twins.
Jack smiled as he watched the two argue.
Everything was good. Everything was perfect and so was she.

2. Did you reread anything? What? Nope! 3. What were your top five books of the year?
The Great Soul of Siberia (2015) by Sooyong Park -- I need to read more wildlife books (and it is a genre I love that ended up getting overshadowed by LGBT books this year) BUT STILL, in my humble opinion, The Great Soul of Siberia should be considered one of the best wildlife books of all time. This book is about a tiger researcher who spends six months a year in an underground bunker watching tigers. He also maintains a close relationship with the indigenous Ussuri people who consider the tiger central to their culture. From personal observation and conversations with the Ussuri, Park is able to depict an incredibly intimate look at the forest's tigers and is able to illuminate their intelligence and individualism without ever veering into anthropomorphism. And oh my god, these tigers are so smart. They know how to dismantle traps from behind and they teach their cubs how to do it! To me, The Great of Soul of Siberia is the gold standard of wildlife books not only because of the beautiful, illustrative prose and intense amount of research, but because Park pays great attention to the Ussuri and links their survival as intrinsic to the survival of the tigers. I measure every wildlife book I read to The Great Soul of Siberia to assess if I'm reading imperialist propaganda or not.
The Color Purple (1982) by Alice Walker -- This is the perfect book. It's almost hard to know what to say about it in a paragraph because it's such a sweeping vision and I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet -- not in term of plot events but in terms of the breadth of the book's worldview. And truly, Alice Walker is a singular talent -- who else, in 1982, could write a book with a central lesbian love story and have that book become so influential, so widely beloved? In 1982, the world embraced a book about how Black women loving each other (both romantically and platonically) is how they free themselves from the mental prisons constructed by white supremacy, patriarchy and Christianity? Fuck, man.
Sarah Schulman non-fiction (notably, Conflict is Not Abuse, Israel/Palestine and the Queer International, Gentrification of the Mind and Let the Record Show) - Rocked my shit and helped me understand the assimilationst and pathetic state of the LGBT movement today. But also helped me understand the depth's of the LGBT movement's radical roots. Conflict is Not Abuse is startlingly good at breaking down conflicts, to the point where it's my framework for any conflict I experience in my day-to-day life. Absolutely invaluable.
Honorable mentions: Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin, A Fragile Union by Joan Nestle, Oedipus in Brooklyn and Other Stories by Blume Lempel, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, Skin: Talking Sex, Class and Literature by Dorthy Allison, Bastard Out Of Carolina by Dorthy Allison, Zami: A New Spelling of My Name by Audre Lorde, The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions by Larry MItchell and Ned Asta, In Search of Our Mother's Garden (1983) by Alice Walker, Women, Race, & Class by Angela Y. Davis, H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald, The Living is Easy by Dorthy West and Shubeik Lubeik by Deena Mohamed [I took so long answering this because I couldn't choose my top five books. Eventually decided to just list out additional favorites.]
13. What were your least favorite books of the year?
Moby Dyke: An Obsessive Quest to Track Down the Last Remaining Lesbian Bars in America (2023) by Krista Burton -- I read this book all the way through because I have an interest in rebuilding lesbian spaces. But oh my god, this book sucked so much. Burton has no curiosity, no critical eye and a very poor sense of history. Lesbian bars are an important part of lesbian history, but Burton doesn't spend much time trying to learn about the history of bars -- she chooses to only write what she can actively find out in the nights she visits the bars. AND she often doesn't approach patrons or workers because she's "testing" how friendly the bars are. So essentially, each chapter is like an extended Yelp review. This is exemplified by how when in New York, she mentions that she wanted to visit the Lesbian Herstory Archive (she says she loves the name because it "sounds like a SNL sketch"), but didn't get the chance too. Burton viewing the LHA as a tourist site with a silly name and not a long-standing lesbian institution that could have served her in a vital resource in researching shows her really shows the level of historical commitment that went into this book. Burton also has an annoying white millennial quirk of wanting to undermine her own authority and being over-conscious of her oversights as a white woman in a completely unhelpful way. At one point, her friend takes her to the piers that were featured in Paris is Burning. Burton admits to never having seen Paris is Burning and then in aside to the audience, writes "I know! I'm sorry!" I don't understand why you would be writing a book about queer spaces, admit to never watching Paris is Burning, and then overapologize. Every fucking chapter Burton proves herself someone not worth listening to. I could go on about how bad this book was but this has already run on pretty long.
Among Tigers (2022) by K. Ullas Karanth -- I loved The Great Soul of Siberia so much that I immediately chose to read another book about tigers. Among Tigers is written by one of the Indian government's leading tiger conservationists. At the time I read this book (early in the year), I admittedly did not have a strong working knowledge of the ways conversation ideology is used to displace indigenous people. Among Tigers did help me understand racist/anti-indigenous conservation ideology better. Because it was so anti-indigenous. Karanth insists that driving indigenous people out of their homes is necessary to bolster the tiger population. He characterizes the indigenous people he works with as cowardly and lazy. It was jarring to read Among Tigers after reading The Great Soul of Siberia because Park treats the indigenous people in the area in which he studied the tigers with so much respect whereas Karanth treated them essentially as pests. As a direct result, The Great Soul of Siberia is a better book about tigers than Among Tigers, precisely because Park draws so much from indigenous knowledge about the tigers. He listens to the people who actually do live among the tigers and know them intimately. Karanth's tigers are just scientific subjects. So this book is both racist and boring.
The School for Good Mothers (2022) by Jessamine Chan -- When I started this book, I thought it was clever that it was written in present tense and things like a court scene would take place in past tense to show the inevitability of the painful result -- like the author didn't need to bother to put suspense into the court scenes because they were always going to rule against the mother. But, this trick would've been better used sparingly. I got tired of every single major moment of the book being written in past tense and not as it was happening. I also found that Chan could not square the gender dynamics she wanted to talk about with racial dynamics effecting racial minorities she isn't part of. The book is about a carceral system that institutionalizes mothers who were "bad" in some way and trains them to be good. Eventually it is revealed that there is also a school for bad fathers. The school for bad fathers is more disproportionately Black and brown men then the school for bad mothers. However, all the dads end up getting custody of their kids and if I remember correctly, none of the mothers do. Chan clearly wanted to comment on the double standards of what is tolerated for mothers and fathers. But to me, this ending just erased the way the state uses supposed concern for child welfare and incarceration to break up Black and brown families -- I don't believe that any of these Black dads would get their kids back in the world Chan set up and it annoyed me that Chan recognized the inflated incarceration of Black and brown men but defaulted to a simplistic "men are judged less harshly than women" approach by the end. Disappointing read.
Spellbound by Bishakh Som -Interesting way to do a trans narrative but reading about the author's life as a diplomat's kid bored me to death.
Little Fish (2018) by Casey Plett -- idk I just didn't like this one "¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 19. Did you use your library?
Yes!!! This year I started a mind-numbingly boring receptionist job. I work in a university, at the financial aid office. My job makes me feel like human AI, because I answer the same things over and over, and more often than not, due to federal regulations (or my coworkers, the financial aid counselors not wanting to go above the bare minimum to help a student out), I'm not able to actually help students who need funding. But, my job is to answer emails and phone calls and assist walk-in students. Especially during non-peak periods, that is not eight hours of work. Very quickly after I started, I realized that in my "free time" I could read ebooks through the library without being bothered about it. I'm so thankful to the library because it keeps my world big and interesting. I think to not be properly stimulated for eight hours (especially in an environment like the financial aid office where the boring work you're doing is a for a particularly pernicious institution) is bad for people. My coworkers are all petty people, but I feel like the constraints of the job (understimulating + being the face of the shitty student aid system w/o any power to actually help students financially due to being bound by federal guidelines) shapes them into that. The library protect me from BECOMING my job and I love it very much for that. Thank you public library. Also yes, I am looking for a new job. Thankful for the ability to read so much but oh my god, the environment there is so fucking bad.

HEYYYY, saw ur requests were open and I wanted to get something in. How would you characterize Helen? Honestly, I’ve seen sooo many different interpretations with him being more “shy” and on the kinder scale of the creepy-pasta characters, and then him being just quiet, antisocial and a sociopath(I lean on this one more) Also, how do you think he would handle a relationship? If having one at all? It’s always fun to see people’s different views of the character lmao.
RAGHHHH BLOODY PAINTER🐺
Thank you for requesting<3! (Remember these are my personal headcanons, they most likely won’t relate to canon in any way. Also all other asks in my inbox are being worked on, thanks for requesting and staying patient!)
Bloody Painter Hc’s
I also lean towards the antisocial sociopath hc, however I also think if he really trusts the person he’d be open to a certain extent.
TWINK HELEN CAN DIE IN A FIRE HIS CREATOR CONFIRMED THAT HE HAS MUSCLE ON HIM AND IS NOT A STICK‼️
If he deems his victim pretty enough he’d paint them and either take it home or hang it on their wall.
I don’t really like the idea of him dating (Judge Angels) just because I hc him to be in his thirties as Dina to be 19 or her early twenties. But I do see them as friends.
Speaking of friends I like the thought of him and Puppeteer being friends.
While I do like the idea of the crp mansion (I still like it fanon ate with that one sue me😔) i think he has his own cabin. (Lots of the pastas in my hc do.)
I also feel like he has a pair of glasses that he uses when needing to paint small details or read. (He’s my grandpa/j)
RELATIONSHIP TIME
It’d be hard to get Helen into a relationship not impossible tho.
I feel like he’s demiromantic/demisexual
I’ve seen this multiple times and I agree that if he had interest in someone or was dating them he’d draw them.
He would be quiet and a bit distant at the start of the relationship mostly due to registering the fact that he’s in a relationship.
You WILL model for him he doesn’t care if you think you’re ugly or don’t like your body because it’s perfect to him.
Thinks you’re the prettiest girl/boy/person that he’s ever seen.
To go along with those he calls you his muse.
That’s it, I hope you enjoyed!

I love it (sarcastic) when people find out about someone who is deafblind doing something and immediately assume they're lying because "how can you do that that's impossible-" SIR I CAME FIRST IN MY MUSIC CLASS 3 YEARS IN A ROW
WITH A MODERATE-MODERATELY SEVERE HEARING LOSS
HOW?
Hearing aids, a musical family, many support people over the course of my life helping me with school and early intervention, patient teachers who are willing to accommodate me and a "screw it I'm gonna try this even if I fail because I wanna" attitude
How does a blind person text? Screen readers, speech-to-text applications, etc.
How did Helen Keller graduate university? By having a support person who helped her learn how to communicate in a hearing and seeing world and relying a lot on people writing the letters on her palm and braille.
It's not impossible. It's ridiculously hard and results in about 500 meltdowns and you wondering why you even bother because you didn't do as well as you hoped you would, until you realise that hold on, you're functioning at the level of a hearing and sighted person. You're incredible for even being able to make your way in this world.
Basically, if you don't have the disability and think a disabled person can't do something, shut up and watch them. Yes, we might do it differently, but you might discover that the deaf girl in your music class has perfect pitch, or that the blind kid is a prolific writer.

2023 Reading Wrap Up: Favorites from the First Half
Not to sound like a broken record, but I can't believe we're already halfway through the year! (and even further, given how late I'm posting this lol). I've read an ungodly amount of books already, and while I try my best to shout out my favorites as I go or in my monthly wrap-ups, I don't always succeed. So Here I Am, to do a little more shouting about the 10 most memorable books or series I've read so far in 2023!
The God of Endings by Jaqueline Holland
The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez
Sword Stone Table ed by Jenn Northington & Swapna Krishna
Sea Hearts (The Brides of Rollrock Island) by Margo Lanagan
Spill Zone by Scott Westerfeld & Alex Puvilland
Will Darling/Lilywhite Boys by K.J. Charles
Lord Peter Wimsey by Dorothy L Sayers
The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green
84 Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff
Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World by David Epstein
More discussion below the cut!
The God of Endings by Jaqueline Holland had me entirely engrossed. It's slow and moving and dark, with it's own take on vampirism, with any number of the associated content warnings. All the content warnings actually (but harm to animals, harm to children, and domestic abuse are some of the big ones. Does the Nazi murder make up for it?). Best described as The Historian meets everything I wanted from The Invisible Life of Addie Larue but didn't get.
The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez I have, in fact, already yelled about a bit. It was so good! Think A:TLA meets The Raven Tower and The Hundred Thousand Kindgoms, and queer! The thing that really blew my mind was the second-person narration, which is always a swing, and I think this nailed it! I loved how it worked with the story and frame narrative, and let me tell you, on audiobook parts of the story felt positively haunted. I won't say it's the perfect novel (I'm a little eh about the last third), but that in no way dampens my enthusiasm. cw for ritual cannibalism.
Sword Stone Table ed by Jenn Northington & Swapna Krishna is an anthology of Arthurian re-imaginings with about a 1-in-3 success rate (for me anyways. is that good for an anthology?) that snuck onto this list purely on the strength of Mayday by Maria Dahvana Headley. I just yelled about my love for unusual narrative structures, so when I tell you that this is a retelling of the Arthurian family drama set in late 19th century America, told only through found objects, newspaper clippings, and manuscript exerpts? I had *such* a great time trying to puzzle things out with my half-remembered memories of the lore (heavily corrupted by the show Merlin, lol). Additional shout-out to Spear by Nicola Griffith, which didn't make it into the collection due to length but was also amazing!
Sea Hearts (aka The Brides of Rollrock Island) by Margo Lanagan was an absolute surprise, for several reasons. For one, I own both a physical and digital copy under different titles and didn't realize it until I was cleaning up my goodreads account! And second, the Brides cover is an absolute travesty and is entirely the wrong vibe - this may be YA (technically?) but it doesn't read like it! Sea Hearts is the story of a small island community with a history of summoning wives from the sea, a tradition only whispered about until an outcast young woman revives the practices to sow discord and revenge among the community members we follow. Incredibly moving and sorrowful, this is for fans of literary, historical, and speculative fiction.
Spill Zone by Scott Westerfeld & Alex Puvilland. This graphic novel is about a city hit by an unknown disaster that has killed or mutated everything and everyone who wasn't able to evacuate in time. Our main character sneaks back in to take pictures to support herself and her little sister, and while I have some reservations about the larger plot, the art of the Zone is GORGEOUS. Sketchy, eerie, hauntingly beautiful, I loved it, enough that I have no regrets. I could see this making a great comic series or animated show instead.
Major, heartfelt shout-out to K.J. Charles, who absolutely saved my sanity for a few months there. My brain was in a weird spot for a few months and I burned through a good chunk of her backlist, so it's absolutely necessary to name drop a few of my favorites. The Will Darling series, a 1920's spy adventure/gay romance, did not immediately win me over, but exposure makes the heart grow fonder? I don't think they say that, actually, but I love a competent dumbass, and when I finally picked up on the crossover with Charles' England duo, I absolutely cackled. I can't wait to reread these! Any Old Diamonds of the Lilywhite Boys series did catch me immediately, even if I managed to read it out of order with one of it's prequel series. Jewel thieves, a heist, revenge, family drama, what's not to love? I loved every single book and novella in this series.
Lord Peter Wimsey (series) by Dorothy L Sayers. This has been a work in progress since 2022 and has consistently made my favorites lists, but truly, she saved the best for last! Murder Must Advertise was stellar, but everyone who said the Harriet Vane novels were the best is absolutely correct. I don't know why I love them, other than that they're wonderfully complex mysteries, but I do. I definitely need to find another long mystery series for my mental health or else I'm going to start these from the beginning again (I still need to read the short stories after all).
The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green. I'll be honest, I didn't write a review for this at the time, and my memory for non-fiction is terrible. But I loved this book, I love John Green, and this was fantastic on audio. Thank you John for putting hope and goodness and beauty into the world.
84 Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff was a beautiful little book for the book lover. It's a collection of letters between the American author and a used-book seller (and family and associates) in London in the 50s and 60s. Its funny, it's friendly, it's lovely, but there's also an underlying tension that builds throughout from the repeated invitations to the author to come visit, and the book copy saying that THEY NEVER MEET. It about killed me, and did make me cry. For further reading you can also check out the author's related memoirs, The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street and Q's Legacy.
Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World by David Epstein. Frankly, I'm impressed by my nonfiction choices so far this year. This one is what it says and it HURT. SO. MUCH. I am absolutely a generalist and it's made life frustrating, so reading this was both extremely comforting but also enraging, because society doesn't need another reason to suck. Alas.

Hi, who would you fancast as Gen, Irene, Sophos and Helen? Also, what would you do if ROTT ever gets a movie adaptation, one depicting the war with the Mede anyway? 🙈 🥺👉👈
Hii!!!! Oh my gosh fancasting Tqt is NOT easy...
...especially since a couple fancasts have already been made that I am SO down to agree with. I hope you'll forgive me if I partly choose people that have already been named within the fandom before...?
[Insert: ARE YOU KIDDING ME YOU MADE ME CREATE WHOLE POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS FOR THEM I SPENT THE ENTIRE AFTERNOON ON THIS AND I DO NOT REGRET IT]
Eugenides: Luke Pasqualino
Who else. He could pull off Young Gen, King Gen, and God Gen. I love his chill mannerisms and his cheekiness. But whoever has watched BBC's "The Musketeers" knows he can portray a dark, rash and dangerous side as well. The actor has Italian roots btw.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Irene Attolia: Irene Papas
Sadly, this awesome actress died in 2022. She was Greek and played in "The Trojan Women" as well as "Iphigenia" - so, you know, she has the ideal Greek Aristocratic face. Isn't she the perfect Attolia?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sophos - Christian Martyn
How I found this actor, I don't know. I am not familiar with him, though he played Gilbert Blythe in "Anne with an E". Look. LOOK. Bear with me. He seems innocent, is the definition of too Nice™ and has this precious aura of childlike chaos about him. But he is also able to glow up into a warrior when necessary O_O
Tumblr media
Helen Eddis: Nathalie Emmanuel
Okay, look. While I'm personally highly satisfied with the above casts, I know full and well that this one isn't perfect. First of all, Emmanuel is far too thin and pretty to be Eddis. They'd have to change her nose at least, if not give her a rounder body type. But she is dark-skinned, her hair is short, her smile is fun and captivating, and I think this does reflect who Eddis is to some degree. I'm sorry I didn't find anything more accurate.
Tumblr media
To comfort you, here are some more random character casts that I found/came up with while working on the others:
King of Sounis - Jack Black
Nahuseresh - Dev Patel. Imagine the reddish beard oh my gosh
Kamet - Riz Ahmed (that one was the author's choice, I believe)
Ambiades - Austin North. Like, come on. He's gotta be the evil version of Sophos and he would be perfect.
Costis - he's honestly just that one real life Kristoff edit from Frozen. No, he's really Channing Tatum in "The Eagle". Look him up.
As for what would happen if The Queen's Thief Series got turned into a movie, I would SCREAM YELL CRY HAPPY TEARS.
They could turn the 6 books into 3 movies, I believe.
The Thief & The Queen of Attolia (the story would have to be slightly changed, e.g. older Gen and different politics, but they can really pull together the whole 125 pages of travelling to the temple into a 5min montage)
The King of Attolia & A Conspiracy of Kings (how Costis became King isn't as important, but it could serve as a sideplot/what Gen is actually contributing politically behind the facade)
Thick as Thieves and Return of the Thief (again, how Kamet came to Attolia isn't as important as the message he brought.)
The Queen's Thief reminds me much of Narnia (the world, the values, the fashion, the colors), Percy Jackson (adventure Greek setting), and Sinbad (adventure + navigating the Gods). If they ever turned that into a movie, I'D WATCH THE HECK OUT OF IT.
Thank you very much for asking!!!

Character Themes
I was tagged by @dragonsongmakhali for this, tysm for the tag! :>
I'll be tagging @shroudkeeper @ahollowgrave @airis-ray and @thefreelanceangel (feel free to skip if you've already done this!)
I'm doing my main roster so everything's going under the cut since it'll be long, I added small blurbs to each:
What instrumental track would play in the background of your character's story during their most meaningful moments?
paris ; ff11 ost - recollection:
youtube
here's a track that doesn't match paris' aesthetic in the slightest, but it's meant to be a tear-jerker. I would go as far to say this would be paris' main theme as it shows a vulnerable part of them that no one gets to see. this is probably the only song that fits the question of this tag game
kirke ; silent hill 4 ost - silent circus:
youtube
it was between this track and a track from the cry of fear ost, but my love for silent hill won out. I always imagined kirke as having an industrial/trip-hop-based character theme, so this fits way too well for her. I wouldn't call this track 'meaningful' to kirke, it's a bit odd—then again she's an odd character. I imagine this plays during her more leisurely/playful moments
tauvane ; assassin's creed 2 ost - dreams of venice:
youtube
the elegance of this song is perfect for tauvane, it's regal and refined as it reflects her background. but what gets me is 2:07-2:45, the sudden change in tone and atmosphere shows you another side of her, something dangerous and cold. I would say this plays when achille meets her again after so many years spent apart
hector ; silent hill ost - only you:
youtube
this one is short, but hector's overall time in the story is short. it's overwhelmingly sad and there's a yearnful tone to this, a yearning for andromache to stay. but the piano is drowned out by a repeating 'droning' noise. it hints at something more sinister, aka halmarut. so this doubles a theme for halmarut as well
yves ; silent hill 3 ost: maternal heart:
youtube
something not bloodborne for once. it feels empty and haunting to me, just like yves himself. the name 'maternal heart' also calls back to cessair, yves' mother. like kirke, yves has a more industrial track that plays, but since he doesn't talk much I don't think this will be heard often
andromache ; assassin's creed revelations ost - byzantium:
youtube
this one fits andromache to a T. there's a strong sense of melancholy and vulnerability attached to this song that I think works well for her meaningful moments in the story as a character theme. the plucking strings, the haunting vocals, and the twinkling music box all scream 'andromache'
evander ; nier ost - his dream:
youtube
the tatlonghari brothers share similar themes, the difference between them is the title. this song, to me, has a quick pace, and a feeling of a childhood lost or something masked. it's ethereal in execution, but it doesn't match evander's personality or actions. this is intentional, as evander deep down is still a good person at heart, and this song reflects that, but he shows a totally different person on the surface
patroclus ; nier ost - this dream:
youtube
in contrast to evander, patroclus' is more slow, idyllic, and hopeful. it sounds like a song detailing a happy childhood. evander's theme is centered around him, but patroclus' is centered around those he lost—his parents most importantly. patroclus has a lot of meaningful moments I feel like, so this is very much a patroclus track
achille ; cry of fear ost - brandon:
youtube
here's something different, something modern. despite achille's positive and happy disposition, this song showcases his inner self and how much turmoil and pain he goes through daily. its singular guitar in the beginning accompanied by an almost underwater ambiance matches what he feels regarding his mother tauvane. this plays a lot when talking about her I think
azem (helen) ; assassin's creed brotherhood ost - echos of the roman ruins:
youtube
yet another AC song, I've had on repeat lately since I'm revisiting the games. this song in particular has a sense of wistful nostalgia to it, that feeling of a time that no longer exists once the vocals kick in. while this is too short for my liking, this is perfect for helen the more I revisit their backstory, flesh them out, and reinvent the wheel

you ever watch death becomes her??
it's a very neat movie! it's dark comedy but it's a little bit of a body horror film
still very good though, watched it with my mom
✰ Jay's Movie Review ✰
Movie: Death Becomes Her
✰ Plot: 5/5 Gods this movie was funny, and the premise was very interesting and fun to think about. Honestly wish there were movies like this made now so we could use the new movie/film tech we have for special and practical effects like the neck twisting all the way around and the bodies falling apart at the end! Honestly Helen and Madeline are toxic yuri and I support them
✰ Set Desgine: 5/5 LISLE'S HOUSE FUCKS SEVERELY oh my gods practically drolling over the big sets with details and ough, i feel sick its so awesome
✰ Special Effects: 4/5 the effects in this movie had me floored. They were so cute and funny and oh my gods just so silly. Sometimes a little tacky (madeline falling down the stairs) but other times there were too noch (the hands going from old to young) and that's not even taking into consideration the neck breaking and such. They might not have been the best quality compared to some other movies but they made me laugh and felt perfect in the movie to me. <3
✰ Costuming: 5/5 that red/pink dress Helen wore was fantastic, absolutely stunning (god i'm a fashion nerd too aggghhhhh) BUT LISLE. oh lisle. if i was attracted to women i would want to kiss her so so so bad. i do want to kiss her. not even kiss maybe just sit at her side those OUTFITS DARLING wow. also her vibes matched so well and wonderful, once again, fucks severely.
✰ Sound Desgine: 4/5 i didn't have to use subtitles :3 sometimes the effects of thunder or lighting made certain lines a little hard to hear but hats a personal thing cause im autistic and struggle with words and such, but it wasn't the whole movie and the audio mixing was pretty damn good!!
✰ Top Characters:
Lisle, gotta give it to her honestly she had my heart. vibes: toxic. Love her tho lol
Ernest, my boy deserved better, wonder what his life couldn't been like if he hadn't met Helen or Madeline. vibes: babygirl. Glad he had fun after 50 tho
Helen, between my two main girls i like Helen more, she's just- a little more deranged. a little more fucked up honestly. vibes: one of those stickman with the blood photos. Her eyes when she had gotten shot was HORRIFYING babygirl don't look at me like that i'm shaking (positive)
✰ Top Quotes:
"Where did you put my wife??" "She's dead sir. They took her to the morgue." "the MORGUE?!?? oh she'll be FURIOUS!"
"Do you know what they do to soft, bald, overweight republicans in prison, Ernest?"
"You're a fraud, Helen! You're a walking lie and I can see right... THROUGH YOU"
✰ Overall Rating: 4.8/5
(rating is taken from the mean of the scores above)
Thank you for the ask!! Hope i gave a good review, i watched the movie as soon as i saw this ask, and have not seen it a second time as i like to do with most movies i watch! I though it was really funny!! Defiantly one to share with friends!!

A fanfic for this Jon!distortion AU inspired by @jimsandfruit . This is just the prologue and I plan on adding more too this. Feedback and questions are greatly appreciated.
(Seriously tho this concept has so much potential)
Trigger Warning: the following story contains derealisation, dissasociation and a whole bunch of mental fuckery
Spoiler warning: potential spoilers for season 1-3 of the magnus archives. (And a lot of speculation and headcannons concerning the contents of the stated seasons)
Prologue
Jonathan Sims had just finished taking the poor disoriented Helen’s statement, and she was about to leave. Jon noticed that the door she was about to leave through was not always there. It was painted an ivory colour with a round purple doorknob which contrasted starkly with the dark stained wooden doors with silver handle knobs of the archive. “W-wait Helen!” he cried out, but it was too late, she had already gone through the door, and with hesitation, she turned her head to look at him thick with dread before the door slammed shut with a thud. For a long moment all he could do was stare at the door in disbelief. He needed to save her.
He stood up out of his chair and ran through the door to try and save her. Suddenly there was a strange headache inducing laughter echoing behind him before the door shut behind him.
He didn’t look back to see if the door was still there. Knowing what he knew from Helen’s statement about this place he was sure that he needn’t bother. Besides, he had to find her and couldn’t afford to waste any time. He ran through the hallways looking for her, seeking any trace of her, trying to get to her before this “micheal ” got to her first. There was no sign of her anywhere. He hadn’t run into a single other person in these halls despite having been here searching for hours. Still, like the stubborn fool he was, he pushed forwards.
He saw movement from the corner of his eye. Was it Helen, had he finally found her? He whipped around to look behind him but was instead greeted by that awful laughter.
Micheal.
“Oh Archivist… you really shouldn’t have come here.” that stupid grin was plastered on his stupid face.
“Where is she, Micheal!” he yelled with frustration, gritting his teeth as Micheals name was ushered from his lips. Jon didn’t have time for Micheals games.
“She is somewhere. Archivist, she's already long gone as far as it concerns you or I” laughter echoed through the twisted hallways. “It's already quite impossible for you two to ever reach, I’ve made quite sure of that.'' The contorted, twisting movements of Micheals body gave Jon a splitting headache.
“I wouldn't be too sure of that.” Jon responded with a spiteful tone, and Micheal laughed like it was some sort of joke. The laughter faded, and just like that he was gone. With much frustration Jon slammed his fist against the blue wallpaper, which was yellow before but was now red. His eye caught a piece of paper on the floor. It was yellow with age and had clearly seen quite a large amount of abuse. He walked to it and picked it up. He smoothed out the scrunched up paper and looked at the squiggly nonsensical lines that made perfect sense within these halls. It was a map. He had to follow it. Even if he wasn't sure where it led, there was still a certain air of importance in following it. It was the only sliver of hope he had left in finding Helen.
His eyes had a glint of hope as he began to follow the map. He wasn’t quite sure how he knew that it was taking him to some final destination, or that it was supposed to take him anywhere at all, but in these contorted and twisted halls it seemed to be the only tangible thing he had. He hoped the destination it led to was Helen, but deep inside his heart he knew that wasn’t true.
How long had he been here now? His mouth felt dry, from not drinking anything for who knows how long. Even so, something inside him knew this place wouldn’t let him die of natural causes. Fuzz began to creep into the corners of his mind.
To distract himself he started to say the directions out loud to no one in particular. For how long he did this he did not know.
“Left, left, Left, straight, through the window, break the mirror, down the stairs, right, right right……” the words were beginning to melt together as he spoke. He came to a realisation that he didn’t fully have the energy to comprehend the weight of. He couldn’t for the life of him remember his own name. Was it Charles? Wait no it started with J. James? Jack? Jonathan? Jim? They all seemed completely foreign to him. He couldn’t remember.
His eyes were zoned out, no longer frantically looking for answers like they almost always did. He was lost in his own head. He looked back at the map, it didn’t feel real as he held it in his hands. It was his only anchor in this messed up place, and even that couldn’t keep him grounded against the strong currents of the Sea of Dissociation, where each wave brought foreign things from another beyond onto his ship.
—-- He had aimlessly followed the map without thought for what felt like weeks. Finally it seemed he had reached his destination, the path had ended. All that lay in front of him was a mirror, he picked it up off the wall and looked into it. He recognised the face, it was supposed to be him, Jon. That was his name, right? But it wasn’t him. It was an eerie feeling looking into that mirror. Like looking at a doppelganger. He looked at where the mirror once was. There was a hole that stretched on for what felt like forever. He looked into the tunnel and saw something at the end. It was too far away to make out.
So he, like one did before, crawled through that tunnel. With each passing moment as he made it through that tunnel he could feel himself moving back further and further into his own head. Time faded away and became all but an illusion. As he got closer a sound got louder. It was like that of a beating heart. When he was almost to the end the sound was almost deafening, but still he pushed through. It was far too late to turn back now. When the end was finally reached he saw it in all its clarity.
It was the beating heart of the distortion. It sang to him, it called for him. He reached out and held it. It was a strange feeling to be holding such an impossible object. It was like every paradox was solved within it with yet another paradox. It didn’t look like a heart, not really, but he just knew in that dream-like manner of knowing, that it was the heart, the centre of it all.
He felt a tearing sense of agony go through him as his who was torn completely from his what. It was like he was torn apart and reassembled over and over again. He let out a pained cry of sheer and utter pain despite having no physical ability to scream as his body was forcefully twisted and contorted. His scream, and one other, could be heard all throughout the hallways. The distortion became Jon, and Jonanthan Sims became the distortion.
It was then that he remembered something he had all but forgotten. Helen. He needed to save helen. He ran through a door that was not there before. Jon called out for Helen and he heard her call back. He let out a sigh of relief. When he turned a corner he felt something run into him. It was Helen.
“Oh good heavens! Are you alright Helen?” Jon said worriedly..
“M-Michael? Get away from me!” she exclaimed, looking up at him with fright, not seeming to register the distortion's new identity.
“I’m not Micheal. It’s me, Jon” the mention of his own name felt wrong on his tongue.
Helen’s eyes cleared enough for her to fully take in what she was seeing. “J-Jon? But how? Why are you that… thing…?” her breathing slowly began to steady.
“I’ll explain when we get out here. This place isn’t good for you Helen.“ A door appeared next to them, and Jon picked Helen up with an ease he was not used to. When they were out of the room and back into Jon’s office he set her down. His office looked different from when he was here last. Dust had thickly layered on every surface it could, and everything had been put neatly away.
“... so are you going to tell me what happened Jon?” Helen’s tone was confused yet stern.
“Well, I went in after you, and I uh… ended up taking a shift in identity. Micheal is gone. permanently. I was him, but now I’m Jon, The Distortion.” Helen gave him a confused glare. “I’m not making sense am I?” Helen shook her head. “Well it makes perfect sense to me.” he mumbled, folding his arms and looking to the side with mild defiance. He couldn’t seem to explain it in words people could understand. “I’m sorry it took so long to save you.” He let out a exhausted sigh. -”I-I just don’t know where to go from here.” he sat in his chair, struggling to fit in it comfortably. “You should just go home and try to forget this all ever happened Helen. One more thing, please don’t tell anyone about what happened to me, or mention that I was ever in there. It’ll be what’s best for both of us.”
“Ok… Goodbye Jon…” Helen said, very confused but feeling as if she now owed something to Jon for saving her. Helen left the room and Jon was left to ponder.
What was he going to do now? He couldn’t just continue work as normal, no not when he’s been missing for who knows how long and and especially not when he looked like this. How were Tim, Sasha, and Martin going to react? Sasha… he remembered something, something from before he was Jon and from when he was Micheal. The real Sasha was dead. His friend was gone. Did the others know that she had been replaced? A pang of sadness washed over him. She had died and he hadn’t even noticed. He began to feel sorry for Tim for putting him at the top of his suspect list.
Suddenly his phone rang. He debated on whether or not to answer it, before eventually hitting the answer button and holding it to his ear with long fingers.. “Hello?”
“Jon, we need to talk.” It was Elias. He didn’t sound too pleased.
“Hello Elias…” he paused, remembering from michaels past what his boss was. “You want to talk to me about my recent… changes… yes?” there was a slight shakiness to his voice
Elias let out a sigh. “Come to my office. Now.” there was a certain finality to his voice. Jon thought for a moment.
“Why should I?”
“I had a feeling you would be difficult. Let me phrase it differently. Come to my office, or I kill Tim.” that shut Jon up very quickly. There was a beep as he hung up the phone. The time was long after hours. He put his phone in his pocket before he cautiously made his way to Elias’s office. Jon took a deep breath before going through the door of his boss’s office.
“So, what do you want from me Elias?”
“You have no idea how much your little show of heroics has cost me, Jon. I can’t get a new Archivist because you're still alive… and still the Archivist.”
“So what do you want from me then?” Even though he could now easily overpower Elias if it came down to it, at least physically, he was still terrified of the man, even more so now that he remembers what he did to Gertrude.
“I want you to keep working in the archive as normal. I told everyone you had gone missing and were presumed dead, assuming you wouldn’t end up returning. I’ll tell them you had a bad encounter with the paranormal, and that they shouldn’t pester you about it. Please just try your best to act relatively normal or so help me.”
“I suppose I could do that.” he didn’t want to, but it wasn’t like Elias was giving him much choice in the matter.
“Great, now please leave my office. you're giving me a headache.” He said in annoyed tone as he gestured towards the door
“Gladly.” Jon responded spitefully, before leaving, and heading back to his house.
Elias’s plans had been shattered, leaving him to put the pieces back together as best he could.

omaegorverse cringe below
ok so im on the SECOND generation of targs now. jaehaerys married a hightower (ceryse's niece) as a Sorry We Did Polygamy and to curry favour with the faith. they had six kids: Aegon, Aerion, Helaena, Viserys, Daenerys, Maegelle.
helaena is helen of troy and aegon+aerion fight over her (they do a little trojan war<3 peasants die cos this family is psychosexually insane!!). aegon is the heir and a tradcath and aerion(named for aerea) is an insane second son also they are twins. aerion murdered the high septon at 14/15ish because the bastard was abusing helaena, but because of sexism etc there cant be any implication of helaena being 'impure'(scream!!!) so he couldnt really explain himself and got exiled to essos as a 14yo and it made him extra crazy!!! aegon is insane cos he's his mother's favourite and his daddy doesnt care about him enough and his brother is the cool bad boy. helaena is insane because she was essentially forced into an identity from birth and she has never been allowed to explore herself! she's simply The Maiden The Beauty The Princess!!
maegelle's birth was magicaly heralded by the deaths of like a bunch of her realtives (maegor, viserys, daenys LMAO rip) and shes haunted cursed psychologically tortured by them. her Daenys the YinOC slay....
the two im still not sure on are viserys and daenerys. viserys becomes king after his brothers die but idk his personality yet? hmmm hes the spare! hes ignored by his family until they all fucking die and hes left as The Most Important Man In The Kingdom. ooo i think im gonna make him the first one to Really feel the monstrous effects of their monstrous births... hes gonna be a lil vampire!!!
ooo and im gonna make daenerys desperate for old valyria!! for their real home... westeros destroyed them but valyria is totally good and perfect they would have been FINE if theyd just stayed in valyria!!! who knows maybe the doom was BECAUSE they left...
plus their cousins:
viserra married lord lannister and had a fucked up like femdom petplay thing with him and all the westerlands hate her and shes like um but he likes the fucking strap? sorry youre all sex negative :/ argue with the dragonfire LMAO and she had twins (Jocasta and Jason) who are fucked up in the brain cos of their fucked up mum and cos their dad killed himself on the day of their birth :/ also jocasta marries aegon
after the death of lord lannister, maegor held a tourney for the right to marry the widowed viserra and lord lucamore strong(lucamore the lusty of the kingsguard in canon) won!! so viserra went to harrenhal with him and they had five fucked up weirdo kids (Saera, Shiera, Shaena, Lucas and Victarion). i wanted to name lucas lucifer but i thought that was taking it too far. i still might actually
daenys married lord stark (an oc younger brother of walton and alaric. in this au the starks did a rebellion and walton and alaric got killed that way rip alaric sorry u couldnt fuck alysanne) and had NINE kids with him (Serena, Alarra, Alaric, Brandon, Berena, Edderion, Cregan, Sara and Torrhen) PLUS a miscarriage after serena (Arra). she also has a classic targ monstrous stillbirth!! after the murder-murder-murder of Daenys/Maegor/Viserys, three monstrous babies tear themselves from her womb (i named the little weirdos Danelle, Theon and Jo). jaehaerys hacks them to death</3
a part of this au is as the family tree grows through the years, the targ line starts infecting basically every house. since omaegorverse targs inbreed SLIGHTLY less and marry out more, the insanity spreads and the inherent sins of westerosi society is made apparent. i♡physical manifestations of moral rot.
idk how this all ends, right now im just having fun writing fucked up and psychologically tortured targ waifs. probably the long night will happen and everyone will die :) ooo and maybe its an infinite cycle maybe its just another reset and it all starts over again hee hee!!!

Dozens of Songs Tag Game
I was tagged by the lovely @thebiwifeonao3 for the dozens of songs tag game!!! Here’s how to play. Also I’m sorry for how much M*A*S*H is on this.
step one:
so here's the game: 12 songs you've recently listened to (include a lyric that you like maybe), 12 ships (can be solo or platonic, dw) (hard mode: from 12 fandoms???) that the songs loosely make you think of, & tag 12 people to do the same.
easy mode: do half a dozen instead idk
here's a fun idea: you could even listen to the playlist from the person who tagged you to use some/all of their song picks!!
step two:
whether you've been tagged or not, you can send an ask with the song & pairing and create a work based on the idea. And the theme of 12 is fun so could be 12 characters, words, paragraphs, chapters, anything!
profit!!! (have fun & maybe end up reading some new fic!)

Hey Crusher, I was interested in watching the X anime, and wanted to know your thoughts on it. It seems to have polarizing opinions regarding the quality on the story, characterizations and such. Is it consistently good or bad? Are the games’ stories adaptations good? Is Chris that bad? Are the characterizations good? Is the Metarex arc good? Is the Jp version that superior? Wanted to know your answers and if you recommend it.
I do have a nostalgic soft spot for Season 1, since I caught that season on TV back in the day. It's the most formulaic and most Chris-heavy of the three seasons, but despite that, I think it has some charm, some legitimately great episodes (like episode 14, which revolves around Helen), and the game characters were mostly decent aside from a weird moment here or there. It wasn't perfect by any means, but for the reasons mentioned, I'm not as harsh on this one.
I'm much less forgiving towards Seasons 2 and 3. The former had dodgy adaptations of the Adventure duology and Battle, complete with Chris occasionally taking roles that were occupied by other characters in their original tellings. The latter was a generic space voyage with little to help it stand out, complete with the Metarex being very forgettable antagonists, although I do think Cosmo on her own is a decent character. And both of them not only upped the flanderization for certain characters (Amy, Knuckles, arguably Sonic himself in some ways), but also dealt a massive blow to Eggman's public perception by having him gradually become more of a non-villain. To the point of doing such things as being the moral voice of reason on multiple occasions, nursing Sonic back to health with no ulterior motive behind it, and becoming somewhat of a father figure for Chris. You can guess how someone like me would feel about all that.
As for the JP version, I would say it's an improvement overall, but not by much. IMO, many of the problems with X are still present in that version in some form or another... although it did give us the iconic moment where Eggman complained about anime, that was admittedly funny.
And for my personal opinion on the accursed Thorndyke... I don't have a burning hatred for him per say, cause I have bigger fish to fry as far as most loathed Sonic characters go. But having watched the whole thing, it's very easy to see why he became infamous; a lot of the things Elise is accused of, Chris was actually guilty of, and I sincerely believe that if the show had to have an audience surrogate, Helen would have fit the role a lot better. Ironically, I actually like most of the other human characters.
So on the whole, I wouldn't exactly call it a great adaptation, or a great Sonic show in itself. But it has some good episodes, moments, and ideas on occasion, and I wouldn't say it's complete garbage in the same way that I would about a certain comic that's allegedly about Sonic and Co. So despite my mostly meh thoughts on it, I think it's worth checking it out for yourself, and seeing what you like and/or dislike about it.

I don't do tag games because I'm the worst, and since I never have time, or right mood, or both, and in this fuckingoodammitcursed time of the year even less than ever, I postpone until six months have passed and it's too late 😂 Also, I'm the most boring person so it's better if I keep the mystery around….
Anyway, I feel called out because, let's see... @chaosrising451 @stephmcx @mayberrycryptid tagged me so, here it is.
3 Ships: alright, this is easy, even if the ship grows on me only after I watched the show and not the opposite, probably I'm some sort of demi-ship-sexual. So it's Steve McGarrett/Daniel Williams aka McDanno (Hawai'i Five-0), Helen Magnus/Nikola Tesla aka Teslen (Sanctuary), Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens).
First Ever Ship: of this I'm sure. I was 7 years old, Saint Seiya was airing for the first time in Italy, and I decided Hyoga and Shun were a perfect match for each other. Friendship-wise and romantic-wise, even if I couldn't care less. But the resuscitation scene is famous not for nothing. I didn't even know I was shipping them but I did 😂
Last Song: uh, so, I'm in a really BAD spot right now, so I'm not listening to music. Just some endless playlist of rainy coffee shop with bossa nova piano ambience stuff, to shut the world outside. Or lofi. Lofi is always a safe haven.
Last Movie: honestly? Too many years ago to remember. I'm not big on movies, I cannot watch tv in peace and after 8 hours drawing maps on pc for work I surely won't turn mine on. Probably it was my 56th rerun of LOTR trilogy, ten years ago.
Currently Reading: a book I purchased years ago and never read, like always. Compulsory shopping, especially if I find used books. It's If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura. It's a bit disappointing so far, some banality about the important things of life, but since I can only read while commuting and I'm having difficulties getting back to my usual standard of a book per week like before I started university 8 years ago, if it's not some essay or handbook or textbook, it's ok for now. Anyway I just finished reading the marvelous essay by Rifkin, Hydrogen Economy, which I purchased exactly 20 years ago and which predicted exactly what would become of our fossil fuel economy today.
Currently Watching: eh, same as before. They were airing again the Italian dub of H50 during pre-dinner time so I tried to catch up, but now it's stopped at s3 finale to air something else, so nothing specific.
Currently Consuming: just finished dinner, consisting of broth soup, breaded fish, salad and fruit :)
Currently Craving: .....let's skip this, it's just too sad.
Not tagging anyone, but feel free to spread and maybe join!

also honourable mentions under the cut (there's a lot. like 45 episodes a lot. i got carried away and i really like the end credits leave me alone)
sorry for any overlays on the videos. i'm assuming it's so the uploader could avoid copyright atp this list is just a personal catalogue. idk how it got so long i think i blacked out for 3 hours while writing this

s8e1 brunchsquatch - idc what anyone says i love this episode and i love that they made it (i do wonder if any of the ppl included r still actively in the fandom) s8e4 sit me baby one more time - one of tina's best songs tbh s8e5 thanks-hoarding - teddy and lin singing 10/10 s8e14 the trouble with doubles - good song and louise and gene r rly cute s8e21 something old, something new, something bob caters for you - same as 0619 it's such a good song i can't just leave it out
s9e6 bobby drive - such a good song?? s9e7 i bob your pardon - another banger song s9e9 UFO no you didn't - we need to see susmita more s9e17 what about blob? - this song is so good the in universe characters don't get it s9e22 yes without my zeke - i love when they experiment with the art direction
(there's a lack of s10 and s11 end credits uploaded to yt which SUCKS bc i rly like a lot of them so uh. use ur imagination) s10e3 motor, she boat - gene fnaf jumpscare at the beginning but god i love louise's ears squashing down under hat 😭😭 s10e11 drumforgiven - gene is just so happy in this sequence god don't talk to me s10e14 wag the song - one of the only times jjr sings the end credits song afaik? also love the limited colours s10e21 local she-ro - cute linda and tina sequence s10e22 prank you for being a friend - rudy is so happy here look at him
