So like i came across a post a bit ago (can’t be bothered to find it but GOD did it put me in the feels) about how Nya would automatically think Jay is dead in the tournament when Agent walker (in mask) uses lightning because she thinks it couldn’t be Jay fighting her. And like, I made it worse.

Imagine she’s instead asking “Jay? Jay is that you? Please, Jay, tell me that’s you.” Because she cannot comprehend a world where Jay isn’t with her in it. A world without her yin is like a world without her other half, what completes her, her beginning and end. And she’s already deep in grief because her mind is already telling her thats not Jay, it couldn’t be Jay fighting her. It doesn’t feel right, thinking Jay would ever truly fight against her, truly try and harm her.

But her heart, her soul, is telling her it has to be Jay, that Jay couldn’t have just died without her ever knowing. She needs to know if it’s actually Jay or not or she’ll fall into an endless spiral trying to figure out who they are, she needs to find out how long they had the element to know how long she’s lost her yin and how long she should’ve been grieving, she needs to know if the other knows how he died. Did he suffer? Was he all alone? Did he die heroically, or did he die begging for his yang, for his brothers, for his parents and sensei until his very last breath? Did she let him die all on his own?

She’s burdened by grief and guilt in a span of a few seconds, and it drops her into a deep hole of desperation when she’s already lost her brother, don’t tell her she lost her yin too.

I wonder if one of the other reasons Seven of Nine was initially disdainful of Voyager's meandering road home in favor of explorations, is partly due to her parents being explorers.

Seven was angry with her parents for the longest time, and it seems like, after 20 years, she's at least finally acknowledged her parents as victims of the Borg.

Seven including her parents in season 2 of Picard was a strange addition to her distrust of the Borg outreach because Seven's been resentful of her parents since she's learned about what happened onboard The Raven.

To the point that Seven neglected to inform Janeway her father was one of the worker Borg drones near the Borg Queen in Dark Frontier. And she never even thought of rescuing her father from the Borg, so Seven, 20 years later mentions how her parents died when it's highly likely at least one of them is still in the Delta Quadrant walking around as Borg drones.

I honestly love that Seven has complicated, messy, angry feelings about and towards her parents.

And, it hasn't become any less complicated and messy 20 years later.

The more I think of the Nakadai family, the more ridiculous it gets:

we need to stop equating lack of independence with lack of maturity. people that live with their parents or have a caregiver or don't work or need more support than others aren't inherently immature. there's lots of reasons why people would be in this situation, even outside of disability (plenty of cultures out there expect people to live with their parents past what we consider the beginning of adulthood), and regardless of the reason we deserve support and community through what is already likely to be an isolating experience. don't make it worse for us

listen I know it's heartbreaking that Claudia dies and it's understandable to wish she didn't, but let's please not accuse the writers of fridging her. to do so is a fundamental misunderstanding of the story and is frankly insulting to the intelligence and skill of the writers of the show.

Claudia's death, and the overwhelming grief and regret her parents experience because of it, is quite literally the point of the entire story. she dies because Anne's daughter Michele died of leukemia when she was five years old and there was nothing she or her husband could do to prevent it.

writing IWTV was how Anne coped with the unimaginable loss of a parent losing her child. she created a story about a little girl that could not die and then killed her anyway. Claudia's death is a senseless, unavoidable tragedy, just like Michele's was. the grief that haunts Louis and Lestat for the rest of their lives is the same grief that haunted Anne and her husband.

so when you're accusing people of killing Claudia off to benefit a story about two men, please remember that in real life sometimes parents lose their children. please remember Michele Rice.

she's the reason Claudia exists.

she's also the reason Claudia cannot be saved.
