The brown-necked raven and the dark green hair bird caretaker.
The rainy season was coming. The rainy season that would never come in the peaceful life of a small bird caretaker was coming to change her fate.
***
Tumblr media
It had been seven long days since the rain had begun to fall on the land that was the heart of Japan.
Izumi Midoriya was twenty-two years old. The dark green hair stuck up at odd angles around her head and her green eyes. She stood at a height of 156 centimetres tall and had a normal build for a woman her age, with a modest bust. She had been in junior high school when she started working part-time as an animal caretaker. There, she found herself able to calm animals and birds so well that she became an expert in the field.
In an enormous park where wild animals were being cared for, Izumi first came to work with a smile and her cheeks flushed. She worked quickly and precisely, finding her way around the animals and birds without hesitation. With the time that she had saved due to the numerous animals and birds that she was caring for, she learned about various types of species of birds that she had never even seen before. As time went by, her abilities grew ever more impressive as she gained knowledge in the care of animals and birds and she could finally earn her pay. She was doing her job to save up enough to go back to school and get a degree as an animal caretaker, too.
***
On the first day of the rainy season, Izumi finished her job as a caretaker and started to walk home. When she got back, she began making lunch for herself. That afternoon, there came a knock at the door.
“I’m home!” Izumi exclaimed as she opened the door.
“Good morning, Izumi-chan,” greeted her friend.
“Yukino-chan, it’s great to see you! Your classes got cancelled. Is that the reason why you’re here today?”
“Yeah, but it looks like the weather’s getting worse, so we might have to cancel tomorrow, too.”
“What a shame... We’ve finally gotten nice weather for once.”
“Heehee,” Yukino giggled. “The weather’s supposed to stay like this for another two days. I brought you this.”
Yukino held out a parcel wrapped in pretty wrapping paper with a pretty bow.
“What is this? It’s super cute!” Izumi’s eyes sparkled with surprise and anticipation as she took the parcel from Yukino. “Thanks, Yukino-chan!”
“You’re welcome.”

Tumblr media
The next morning, the first day of the rainy season, was warm and humid. Izumi was making breakfast when she heard a loud kraa.
“I wonder who it is at this hour? Well, they must have come in the night to hide somewhere because nobody told me,” she said aloud as she glanced at the window. Izumi walked over to the window and looked out. She could see a small raven sitting on the roof of her home, so she went outside to talk to the little brown-necked raven.
“What are you doing here?” Izumi asked.
The raven stared at her with its bright gold eyes, then squawked angrily.
“Do you have something you need help with? Come inside,” Izumi told her, turning her back on the raven so she didn’t have to look at it. “I’ll make some food and let you out once you’re done.”
The raven slowly flew off.
“I wonder where he’ll go now that he’s left his nest.”
Izumi shrugged. She turned back towards the kitchen as she hummed a song that was on her lips. Then she stopped. She could hear the raven’s cries as they got closer. She rushed back outside to see what was happening.
Izumi ran to where the raven had landed in a tree in front of her house.
“Aha!” she exclaimed as she watched the raven hop off the branch into her hand.
It was still cawing as if in pain, so Izumi hurriedly sat it down on the branch of a nearby tree. “Is your leg okay?!” she asked, taking a better look at its foot. “Your foot’s all bloody! How did you get hurt like that?”
The raven croaked out again in pain as it tried to stand. Izumi got up from where she was sitting to get some water. “Here,” she said, offering him the cup.
The raven downed it before setting it back down on the branch and trying to get to his feet once more. He fell onto his side after only being able to stand on three of his four legs.
“I wonder if you’re hurt worse than you think,” she said as she took his leg in her hands. The raven screeched in pain when she touched the area between his talon and his ankle. Izumi pulled her hands back and wiped them on the front of her kimono as she examined him again. The raven whimpered sadly as he spread his wings in the air as if to say, “Please don’t hurt me anymore.”
Izumi paused for a moment to let herself rest her eyes.
“Hey,” she began.
The raven lifted his head to look at her.
“There’s going to be a lot of rain, so I’m afraid I might not be able to take you in when the sun comes back out.”
The raven turned his head away from her, and his beak trembled. As if to say, “Don’t abandon me,” he croaked out mournfully.
Izumi put a hand on her chest. “I wouldn’t,” she said gently, reassuring him with a gentle smile. “I won’t leave you alone. You just have to trust me.”
The raven nodded slowly, but his face was still full of anxiety. “I will,” he thought.
***
She carried the small raven inside and laid him out on her table. The bird looked around with curiosity but no genuine interest. He still seemed scared.
Izumi knew exactly what he was afraid of. The raven had been left out in the rain for over a week now, and he had grown used to that horrible sound of raindrops beating against his feathery skin. A storm came before dawn and left a trail of destruction across the land. It tore at the trees and it shook the earth.
The rain had stripped away the bird’s feathers, and it battered his beautiful body with the wind, the storm, and the cold of night. His beautiful face looked worn out, and it still filled his eyes with fear.
Izumi removed his torn feathers and cleaned him as best as she could before putting his plumage back on him in the same way as always. The small raven gave no reaction to his appearance as Izumi put him back on the table. She was about to return to her room when she heard a clicking noise coming from him. It sounded like the small bird’s beak was hurrying, but it was hard to tell since they were such infinitesimal movements.
As she took out the water bottle from her bag, Izumi spoke to him. “The sun will soon be coming back out, so we can be at home soon.”
The raven glanced at her before turning his head back towards the window with a loud clack-clack-clack noise.
Izumi laughed with joy. “Okay, I’ll make sure you have some breakfast first.”
She placed some food near his cage before looking at him again. She knew that he could eat just like humans, so she figured it would be alright as long as there wasn’t anything dangerous on it. Then she went back to preparing breakfast while enjoying the sounds of rain outside the windows. She wondered how much it would rain in the upcoming days. Maybe the storm would get even worse.
As Izumi went to eat her lunch, she heard a strange voice coming from the other room. She thought it was Yukino, but she quickly realized it was coming from the little brown-necked raven’s cage. The raven’s beak was clicking at an incredible speed, but she couldn’t understand what he was saying. It almost sounded like gibberish or a foreign language to her, but there was no doubt he was saying something. After all, he had been speaking with her all this time. She decided to have some fun with the little bird and she opened his cage door for him.
He trudged out of his cage and looked at her with a questioning expression on his face. His bright gold eyes narrowed with curiosity, but they seemed to have a hint of fear in them, too.
“Can you understand my voice?” asked Izumi with a smile.
The raven nodded his head while clacking his beak, before lifting it to speak out loud to her. “I understand what you’re saying.”
“Really?” Izumi gasped in delight and excitement. “Amazing! Can you say hello in Japanese?”
Izumi heard the raven slowly clicking his beak as if he were trying to repeat what she had just said to him in Japanese. The raven croaked out in pain from his wounds and his loss of freedom.
Izumi rushed over to where he was lying on the ground and she held him in her arms in a gesture of compassion. “Are you alright? Can you tell me where it hurts?”
“It hurts,” he replied through his cries.
“Oh! I’ll get some water for you!”
Izumi ran back to the kitchen and returned with a cup filled with water, which she held in front of him where he could see it. She sat next to him on the floor and held him so that he could drink from it without having to reach up into the air. Once he had drunk enough water, Izumi carefully held him under his wings so that he could lie flat on the floor. After a moment, Izumi saw that the raven was looking up at her with tears in his eyes.
“Are you okay?” she asked again.
The raven struggled to lift his head, using his neck to move it with great effort. He clacked his beak at her several times before lifting it again to speak out loud. “I’m so sorry.”
“Why are you apologizing? You didn’t do anything wrong.”
The raven seemed unsure whether he should say anything more, so he just let out another weak croak. He stood up tall on his feet for a moment before suddenly collapsing onto the floor again, holding his chest with his beak as if something hurt him.
“Are you hurt?” asked Izumi worriedly, looking him over once more.
Raven struggled to lift his head but eventually, he lifted it, allowing him to see Izumi as she rushed toward him with a worried expression on her face. She crouched down beside him and looked into his bright gold eyes. “You’re bleeding! You need to get it cleaned!”
Izumi reached for a towel from a nearby shelf to begin wiping the blood off the raven’s feathers. She carefully pulled her hands away and stopped what she was doing.
Raven continued to bleed out onto the floor, where it flowed over his talons and feet and made a mess all around him. The raven let out another painful croak as he lowered his head back down to the ground. Then he just lay there silently, letting Izumi wipe away the blood from around him.
“It’s okay,” said Izumi, softly stroking his beak gently before looking back at her hand, stained red with blood that was now dried on her fingertips. She took another cloth out of her bag and used it to carefully wipe her hand off before putting it back into her bag. Then she moved her attention back to the raven on the floor, who looked at her with curious eyes as he continued to bleed. She quickly gathered a bucket of water and some towels before running into the kitchen and filling her mug with hot water. She then returned to the raven and held it up close to his wound to make sure that the water wasn’t too hot or too cold for him. As soon as she had poured the hot water on his wound, the raven croaked out in pain. He then looked at her with such sadness in his eyes that she felt her heart wrench in her chest.

rainy season has landed in both japan and arb and everyone has lines dedicated to a very rainy day!!!:
bb:
ichiro doesn’t hate the rainy season but it’s hard working in the humidity. the rain can also hinder his work. but after the rain comes the sun!!!! he can’t wait for summer’s clear skies!!!! jiro can’t really play outside when it’s raining. it looks like ichiro is busy so his going to go bug saburo about the joys of anime lmao saburo wonders if he likes the smell of rain. he then shares with us that the scent of rain is called ‘petrichor,’ and the reason we smell it is due to aerosols released when rain and moisture in the air loosens the ground, which has been packed tight with absorbed oil from plants. saburo is next very flustered to have been caught with a charm he made to make the rain go away lmao it’s not he believes in the superstition!!! it’s just that ichiro thought it’d be nice to have one for clear skies in the future!!!! it’s only just in case okay??? lol
mtc:
samatoki says to not let the rain get you all worn out and offers a pep talk lol and he also gripes about the rain and humidity is making all of his clothes cling onto him and it’s annoying af lmao juto actually doesn’t do so well with the humidity, he gets a little depressed during rainy season. he also complains that all the water on the ground would ruin his leather shoes. like, it’s great that he usually travels by car but he still has to get out of the car and out into wet weather 😓 rio comments that due to the rain, an enemies’ visuals will be weakened making it hard to track you but the same can be said for you as well; the rain can change the terrain and you can get caught in mud pits. it’s important to always be flexible with changes and to keep your senses open on the battlefield. he also says to not neglect your core while training since when it rains, the ground gets muddy and you don’t want to fall 😌
fp:
ramuda says since he’s stuck at home all day, might as well call dice and gentaro over and have a sweets party⭐️!!!! but he does like rainy days!!!! he likes to be able to work on fashion styles that match the weather ⭐️ gentaro asks if you would like to enjoy reading a book on a rainy day and also says there is nothing like taking a break from writing as you watch the water droplets trickle down on glass windows to the sound of rain fall. sounds like dice is going to be broke and isn’t going to have any shelter from the rain if he doesn’t play well today 😞 dice doesn’t like the rain; it feels as tho his luck has run dry on rainy days. matches are best experienced under clear and sunny skies!!!!
mtr:
jakurai wishes for you to take care of yourself since the body can be susceptible to falling ill due to temperature drops and changes in atmospheric conditions. don’t overwork yourself either. and he also comments that it is a shame that the rainy season brings in so many sick people, but he likes the atmosphere rainy season brings. green is especially bright during this season 😌 host hifumi says he doesn’t hate the rain but it causes a lot of problems, such as making laundry hard to dry. malewife hifumi bemoans how all this rain really can bring a guy down!! like even doppo’s even more down in the dumps than usual…….. or is that really because of the rainy season and not just the usual??? and he laughs lol doppo tho really isn’t feeling so hot with all this rain and humidity and feeling like he’s becoming more negative than usual……… but is that because of the rain season?? he’s usually negative regardless of the rain…….. lol
dh:
sasara wishes that it was raining candy instead….. and then because this sasara: “feeling down because the rain’s coming down?? ignore the raindrops and cheer up with some candy drops!!” and then laughs at his own joke lol rosho laments that the sports clubs still have to practice out in the rain and hopes the rain will stops soon. he also complains it’s pretty difficult to dry his laundry on rainy days and hopes for his students that they won’t be bogged down by the inconveniences rain brings and that they will be able to wake up on time. rei says that on rainy days like this, it’s hard for him to move so he wonders if maybe he should hire a personal chauffeur for times like this………. and then says he’s just joking lol he’s still a very capable old man lmao rei also muses that regardless of rain or shine, people going about their day doesn’t really change
bat:
kuukou is disgruntled about being asked how long the rain is supposed to last and he sharply replies to just let nature run its course; the best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain. he also says super rainy days like this really makes him want to pray to the sun god. normal jyushi cries about how awful the stormy weather is for making a mess and ruining everything!!! vkei king jyushi gives a flowery description of how he doesn’t like the sound of rain………. and ugh!! his hair is a mess now too!!! hitoya may not hate the rain but he’s finding himself wondering how long the rain’s supposed to last. he also shares that jyushi accidentally dropped amanda in a puddle and came crying to him about it lol and grouches that she’ll be fine after a wash lol
#this is vee speaking#the arb chronicles#ichiro is truly a sweet summer child in every sense lmao#if what saburo says about petrichor doesn’t make sense that’s my fault lmaooo he made perfect sense i just looked up what petrichor was#and tried to explain it after a quick skim thru the article i found lol#lol it sounds like juto goes thru it for a few weeks until summer 🥲#ooooh and gentaro actually asks if we’ve heard of a very specific phrase#that roughly means to toil during clear skies and read a book when it rains#idk any quick phrase or quote that comes close to that but he follows up with would you like to read a book to rainy weather so#somber dice was somber#dohifu shared the sentiment that doppo is just depressed and it’s got nothing to do with the rain lol but idk if that came thru#AND THEN#sasara cracks a joke using the play on words!!!!! ame means candy and ame also means rain!!!!!!#so i tried to make sasara proud by doing something similar lmao#i have a fic in production hell where rei jokingly makes fun of his old bones so i’m glad to see he’s canonically the type to do that lol#lol i get the feeling tho that kuukou does that not particularly care for the rain lol but that all comes from the delivery of those lines#have i ever mentioned that hitoya has an embarrassing amount of lines about jyushi for someone who acts that bitchy with him????#i’m sure i have but man lmao#the current event story has this moment with hitoya and jyushi that just about made me ugly cackle but i’ll hold off until that post#c: rapping boys

I really hate the severity of my asthma. Two asthma attacks yesterday just for having the audacity to not be home.
We went to Springfield (3 hours away) to apply for housing at an apartment and see the other places we want to apply for. It was wonderfully humid and raining a lot when we arrived, but all the physical moving around set off an attack. Six hours later I had another one within minutes of returning to our area (which is dry af and fire risk is high due to how dry it is here). Woke up hardly able to talk without exhausting myself, and moving much at all leaves me feeling winded.
Regular/mild asthma? I can do that. I did for 30 years. We moved here and all that went out the window, made worse after the house fire. After we move, it will still take months for my asthma can tolerate me going for a short walk.
I'm so tired.

Musea, Stores & Games
I’ve been in Seoul for two full days and I still don’t fully realise that I’m gonna live in this city for a long time. I’m not sure how I should describe this feeling, but Seoul doesn’t feel like a “weird” or “crazy” city. Sure, it’s big, foreign and I can’t read any of the signs that are displayed everywhere, unless they have Japanese translations underneath, but the people are friendly and everything so far is easy to follow and understand.  Yesterday (14th), we decided to visit the The National Museum of Korea. Only a 4 stops away from Seoul Station by subway, which costs less than €1,-, and from there, it was just following the museum signs.
A big open space greets you, with some trees and benches, following with a convenient store and a café and a beautiful scenery on right. By looking at it, you kinda forget for a moment that you’re in a huge city. (museum on the left side)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The museum itself doesn’t look that spectacular from the outside, just a big grey/white block, but the inside with the exhibitions were wonderful! And totally free!!! The first floor was dedicated to the country’s history. Starting at the Bronze Age all the way to the time of the Emperors of Korea. The second floor showed Caligrahpy and Painthings and an exhibition of donated works, showing work of different Korean and Japanese artists. The third floor showed Sculptures & Crafts, with a special section dedicated to Buddha, and Asian Art, where art from a lot of different Asian countries were shown. Almost everything had English translations and the chronological order of the first floor gave a nice and easy understanding of Korea’s history, although it was a lot to take in at once. Here are some pictures of pieces shown at the museum
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We spend the entire afternoon here. Afterwards, we got some lunch at the nearby convenient store and went back to Seoul Station. I needed to buy a new straightener, since my old one died on the way here. RIP, you served me well. The question was, where do I buy one in Korea? I remembered a LOTTE department store being nearby the station, so I figured this was a good first place to look. Turns out, it’s more of a shopping department than an all-kinds-of-stores, but other “parts” of the LOTTE chain were nearby and eventually, I got my new straigtnerer // Also, a lot of other cute things were sold here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, in the lower levels of this store, there is ENTIRE new store, also part of LOTTE, that is basically a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge supermarket and health/body/beauty store. We were kinda thrown off by that, but we figured that we might as well get some drinks and foods while we were there. We got some cheap but delicious fried chicken, went home, had dinner and called it a day. Our feet were pretty tired. Today, the 15th, is National Independence Day of Korea. Time to celebrate~ I researched, of course, if there were any fun/interesting/special activities on this day, just like in The Netherlands. I think there were supposed to be, according to some blogs on the internet, but due to the weather, I think they might’ve been cancelled. It was raining quite a lot today, which was a nice change after two full days of sun, but it didn’t do anything for the humidity. To cope with the stickyness of the heat, I bought myself a cute little fan. You see a lot of people walking around with these, and I fully understand now. They do help quite a lot! You can get these for a lil bit over €2, but I wanted one that fitted my cute life style, so mine was €8,85.
Tumblr media
Instead of Indenpendence Day activities, we found this food market. It was insanely busy and hot. I can’t understand how the people here were able to sit down and have a hot meal. Don’t get me wrong, it looked delicious, but if would’ve sat down and ate something hot, I think my food would’ve tasted very salty from all the sweat that would drip into my food.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At this point, we just kinda walked. Eventually, we arrived a more busy shopping district, considering the amount of signs and shops showed up. It was still kinda dark and gloomy because of the weather, but everything looked very inviting.
Tumblr media
And there it was, the arcade! I think it was the same as the one that I found the internet before at home, but who cares! The first floor was covered in claw machines, ranging from small to big sizes. The smallest costs 500W to play, which is which is around €0.35 and the big ones were atleast 1000W for 1 play, which is €0.75. Korean crane machines are rigged af. The claw always opens up, making it useful grabbing a plushie perfectly. You really have to be lucky, that the plushie will be released in a way that it kinda falls into the hole, or bounces of the other plushies :(
Tumblr media
The 2nd and 3rd floor were filled with the more typical arcade games. From Mario Kart to DDR, but the Korean version, there was enough to do~
Tumblr media
After spending enough hours, and money, in the arcade, we soon enough found a second one! This one was more focused on the VR aspects of games and play. Very cool to see, but I figured it would be kinda pointless to do so if they story and everything else was done in Korean, which I don’t understand. My bf tried some sniping, as this arcade also offered shooting ‘games’ (?). Look at him go.
Tumblr media
Afterwards, it was the same old question. What’s for dinner? We decided not to think about it to hard and went in the store that was right in front of us. It was a Japanese restaurant were the offered a lot of different don’s and curry’s. For less than €12, we both had a very delicous meal. On to the next stores! The Kakao and Line Store were in a big shopping building. We decided to come back here another time, as we were both getting tired and wanted to safe some of the fun for another day. But of course, we couldn’t pass up on the cute stores!
Tumblr media
Well, 2 busy but excitingn days! Can’t wait for what the other days will bring me!~ Hope you guys are doing okay and enjoyed reading my blog. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee~

Julie’s Love Yourself Concert Diary
Concert Date: September 29, 2018
Written: September 30, 2018
Warnings: I curse more than I should?
Words: 3,330ish-added a few  things at the last minute (phew!)
A/N:
[Update: Tumblr couldn’t upload all my photos that I spent awhile choosing and placing, so I’m going to have to pare it down. Sorry bbs! I opted to cut my personal & merch photos in favor of the boys]
So I have one thousand and one things I should be working on-for school, for work, for my eventual job hunt. But instead I am going to write about last night’s experience while it was still fresh in my mind. I was thinking of doing a song-by-song play-by-play, but you can look up the setlist on Wikipedia, so instead I am going to talk about the things that jumped out at me. WARNING: This is essentially one giant spoiler, so I will try to put a “Read More” cut, though it’s been being weird for me lately. So scroll carefully if you’re going to a later date and don’t want to know. All photos taken on my (now ancient) iPhone 6, so I tried to choose the best ones). Will edit as I see typos I made.
I’m a little nervous since I usually write fiction instead of sharing my personal experience. Anyway, full disclosure that this is just my perspective, and I’m (always) happy to discuss things (civilly) if you disagree with me.  <3  Photos and opinions are mine.- please don’t re-post anywhere else.
The Background/ Pulling a Namjoon and Leaving my Ticket at Home
Even though I was going to the Saturday show, I flew into LaGuardia using frequent flyer miles on Friday morning. I was staying with a friend in Queens, so I went straight to her apartment. I’m a grad student as most of you probably know at this point, so I spent most of Friday working on a paper that was due. I had two friends I met at last year’s concert going to the Friday concert, and they went for merch promptly at 9, but I had just arrived and had a deadline to meet for school.  Around 4:30PM, I decided that I was done for the day and opened Ticketmaster to print my ticket for the next day’s show. When I logged in, I saw the notice that the ticket had been mailed to me. I remembered having seen that when I bought the ticket in May, but in my defense I was jet-lagged and ill on that day. Furthermore, I moved to and from NYC in that time for a summer internship, and SO MUCH HAD HAPPENED. The tickets had been mailed while I was living here and I had never seen them, so somehow it slipped my mind. Obviously I lived too far away, but I didn’t know if I could express overnight them, but I think when I called Ticketmaster, the old ones were deactivated when the guy tried to send me the link.
Anyway, print at home was not an option, so I called Ticketmaster and in a panic explained my situation. They said it happened all the time and offered to send me a link. Luckily I kept the rep on the line, because it turned out that even they couldn’t email a link because of the anti-scalpers/fraud/whatever.
Then the rep said that I could show the credit card, but I had literally cut it up the week prior since the Vendor (e.g. the store that the card was through) had switched their card to a different bank (e.g. Visa to Mastercard), so I seemed shady af, even though I was telling the truth. He said as long as I had a login to a statement showing the transaction (I didn’t, since they had opted to close the account at an institutional level).  So I called my mom frantically, and luckily she is the hyper-organized type who keeps paper copies of everything and sent them to me. Seriously, Mom for the win!  I run to this print shop as it’s closing and print everything out.  I had the Ticketmaster receipt & order #, and two photo ID’s confirming my address. The guy said it should be fine, but I was on the verge of a mental breakdown. This was my one birthday gift and something I had been looking forward to for months. Anyway, my friend and I went out to a local bar near the Halsey (yes, the singer took her name from the station) stop on the L line, and I was super anti-social because I was so upset. I also burst a blood vessel in my eye  (it will heal, no worries) because of too much birthday partying the prior weekend, so I’m sure I was a (sour) sight to behold.
I slept poorly for obvious reasons, and left the apartment around 7AM, and arrived to Prudential center around 8:30ish. There were only a few people outside of will call, but the GA line was already wrapped around the building. I made small talk with people outside of the box office, and one woman told me she had gotten soundcheck both days. Seriously, what kind of karma do I need for that to happen to me? She and her friends had been camping out since Thursday, and they were SUPER organized: while she waited in line, one was at merch, and someone else was holding their GA site. I almost wondered if they were a fansite or something. ARMY are a truly organized bunch (except for me, clearly).
Anyway, after another half hour of pure anxiety, they opened up will call and I was panicking, but they were really helpful and gave me my ticket after I verified the order number, showed my id and confirmed some other personal data. I decided then and there that nothing else mattered and I was just happy to be there and be in.
Waiting in line/Logistics/Staff
I left the box office, and got into the GA line. It was probably around 9:15, and the line had already doubled-back on itself all the way around the building. The woman from earlier told me that her friend had got #1000 and was only 3 rows back, so I still had some hope. Basically, you line up to get your spot in line- though it’s kinda dumb that you have to line up twice, it makes security go faster and guarantees that there isn’t a huge surge/stronger people cutting  in line later.
I wore what I thought were my most comfortable shoes, but after standing on concrete for hours, I don’t think it makes a difference. People were so friendly though-  I never once felt awkward even though I was by myself. The same was true last year- the friends who had gone up for merch on Friday I met while in line at last years’ Wings concert. I chatted with people around me, drank the two bottles of water I had, and looked at my phone. Bring an umbrella for shade and sunscreen though-I didn’t and am rocking a nice farmers burn/tan today.  It wasn’t humid though, and it wasn’t raining, so it could have been so much worse.
Even though there were tons of people, everyone was well-behaved. I didn’t see any altercations, though as the day went on the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed with crowd control.  I didn’t see too many people selling unofficial merch like last year, though I did buy a few necklaces (Joon and Chim, ofc).
After 3.5 hours, I finally got my wristband. They told us to be back by 2pm to line up for real, as they were going to try to open the doors at 3 instead of 3:30 (didn’t end up happening).
Merch
I then ran to merch, but there wasn’t much left. The fans/pickets were selling out as I got in line, and people were basically yelling “NOOOOOOOO” everytime the staff put up a “SOLD OUT” sticker. I bought what I could that was left, including a bracelet, which I’m actually in love with, the eco-tote (super overpriced tbh, $50 for a canvas bag), but the shopper bags were gone and I needed something to carry the box and batteries V3 ARMY Bomb I bought. I had one from last year that I also forgot, but I think the new version was cool because they are synced up with the music so you can change colors and patterns along with everyone else. Overall, it’s EXPEN$$$$IVE, but if anyone’s worth it, it’s Bangtan.
Newark
I was getting super tired after this, so I kinda passed on the photo studio table, big poster, and UNICEF stuff. I tried to go to Starbucks, but even though it was the middle of the day, I didn’t feel that safe, even though it was like 11:45 in the middle of the day. I’m a 27 year old who’s lived in Latin America (which is generally stereotyped for violence), solo traveled around the world, and I’m from the Rust Belt (aka home of true urban decay), but that part of Newark sketched me the heck out. Probably it would have been fine, but I opted for caution, and went to a Dunkin Donuts and empanada place right around the corner. The timing was actually good since we had to get back pretty quickly to line back up.
The second line was where the staff struggled, telling people to back up and get in order, but it seemed like staff were doing different things. Plus, if they wanted people to back up, they should have created room at the back first, before telling the front to basically “back that ass up” on the people behind them.
GA vs. Seated
I can say this- if you are short, you probably want a seat. Or if you have any kind of knee, back, or joint problems- I stood for approximately 14 straight hours on concrete yesterday. I am just under 5”5” but I was probably one of the taller people in the crowd, so I had a pretty good view. Even though they asked people to not take videos or record, you WILL be looking through a sea of cell phones. I could see pretty well, but sometimes when they were on the main stage I had a hard time seeing around other people’s arms.
Tumblr media
Last time I had P2 seated, and the view was wonderful. I went to the bathroom, charged my phone, and ate nachos (lol), so it was generally a more chill experience. I was still super close but up a little higher and could see absolutely everything. But last night I was SO close I could see Joon’s dimples irl, and got splashed by both Jungkook and J-Hope when they threw the water bottles.  Probably 100 people think this, but I’m also pretty sure Yoongi  (and maybeeee Jimin) saw me jumping and singing along like crazy since I was one of the taller people. At the very least, Yoongi keep looking in the general direction I was in. Ofc I looked gross af with my messed up eye and crazy hair, but what I loved about the concert is that I was 100% able to forget all the insecurities I carry around with me on a day to day basis and have an AMAZING time.
Of course the whole place is crazy high energy, but I feel like last night was INSANELY high. I’m not sure if it was the overall vibe or if that was the GA influencing my opinion.  It just depends on what kind of experience you want to have. Also, if you are claustrophobic, you should probably pass on GA. The guards kept forcing people to back up, at one point even coming in with a flashlight, and people would surge forward whenever a member came close. But someone said the night before was chill, so maybe it’s just luck of the draw.
The Show
The show was absolutely amazing. They opened with IDOL, which got people hyped from the get-go. Their dancing was ON POINT as always. People were chanting during the intro videos and chatting as it filled in, so it was a great vibe once again- just super happy feeling. The audio visual part was AMAZING, though I’m no pro, and I loved all of the concert outfits, especially Jimin’s super sparkly sweater. Lots of jumping, and lots of screams. I didn’t have earplugs and was fine, but if you’re sensitive to loud sounds I definitely recommend them. ISTG I remembered hearing a mashup of FIRE, but maybe not? Wikipedia seems to think not. But they played a few older ones too, which made me so soft and nostalgic.
Tumblr media
More on the members during the concert
Kim Namjoon
Ok, this is so so so biased, let me start with that. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know how much I love this man. Seeing him smiling and happy was amazing. And they had a professional translator for this concert, so I felt like Joon was able to relax a little and enjoy himself instead of worrying about translating for everyone else.  He is just as tall and proportional as everyone says he is.  Everyone talks about how soft he is these days (and I love it), but he has undeniable charisma when he raps. Plus him in sunglasses, ddaeng. Seeing him so close was akin to something spiritual for me (I SAW THE DIMPLES WITH MY OWN EYES), as were people shouting along with him to “Love.” At the end, he commented how we were all sharing the same air, and hearing him think the way (I know at least some of ) us think was so heartwarming.
Tumblr media
Also during some of the videos, there were some NOT AT ALL subtle Minjoon moments.
Kim Seokjin
The crowd last night ADORED Jin and gave him all the attention he deserves to have all the time. People were chanting his name SO LOUDLY during instrumental breaks in Epiphany. His voice was phenomenal, particularly the high notes. it’s clear how hard he’s worked to make it sound so effortless.  I noticed that people weren’t moving as much during some of his notes and I can only think it’s because we were literally transfixed. It’s well established, but I don’t think this man has any bad angles. Even in the still pictures I took while dancing, he DOESN’T look awkward in any of them. #impossible.
Tumblr media
Min Yoongi
Suga was clearly happy about something last night- he was SO cute and happy. Other ARMY on the train back to the city agreed with me. His rapping was fire (duh), but he was really smiley and took out his earpiece a number of times to hear us screaming. “Seesaw” starts with him laying on a couch and I can think of no better way to capture his true soul (lol). He was extra attentive to fans, and  I feel like what Tae mentioned in Burn the Stage, he was trying to memorize ARMY’s faces and live in the moment. I felt bad because there were clearly parts where he wanted us to sing along, but we couldn’t necessarily keep up with his tongue technology :P  But people definitely tried their best.
Tumblr media
Jung Hoseok
Idk what I can say here that’s new. J-Hope is one of the most charismatic members on the stage. And there’s something in the American air that turns him into Jay Hope. Seriously, he’s hard to move your eyes away from. “Just Dance” was the first solo track if I remember correctly and he did not disappoint. His glasses at the end were adorable, and one of the other members called him a “happy grandfather” or something like that.  Seriously, if you’re still sleeping on Hobi, we can’t be friends.
Tumblr media
Park Jimin
Jimin was ethereal as always, and the choreography for Serendipity was…..salacious, to say the least. Like if you thought the “Take Me Down” cover from last year’s Festa was too much, then idk what to tell you. Bring holy water or something. Despite  the free water that fans were providing to others (ARMY are seriously the best) there was a different kind of thirst occurring, if you smell what I’m stepping in. Jimin is pure charisma, like J-Hope. Obviously their styles are totally different, but when they move, you stop whatever you’re doing and watch. Again, I didn’t even see many ARMY bombs moving during Serendipity- I think we were too entranced. I personally thought that he killed his vocals and did great, but he seemed a little tired or like he was working hard at it. Jimin was also the one (at least that I saw from my angle) that got the closest to the fans, crouching down and leaning over the teleprompters/fans/lights/ whatever the black boxes were at the edge of the stage.
Tumblr media
Similar to Tae and Yoongi, I saw him looking at fans A LOT during the show. He was exactly how he seems in V Lives and cameras, and I’m fairly certain I would spontaneously combust if I ever ran into him irl (even if I didn’t know who he was)- he just radiates warmth and friendliness. Seriously, if I believed in magic, I feel like he would be able to influence people’s emotions.
Kim Taehyung
So many fic writers have this ultra primal (for lack of a better word?) for Tae, but all I see is a cute sweetheart. Obviously I’ve never seen someone create as much tension with their own arm as he does during Singularity, but when he’s not dancing, I just got a super innocent, cutesy vibe from him. His voice was so smooth last night. I mean, I knew, but now I KNOW.  He actually was shooting hearts at one fan (how lucky they are), and pretended to fall down when they shot him back! They were further back in P2 as well so he really does work hard at paying attention to everyone. He actually called over another member (maybe Yoongi or Jimin? I was too busy trying to remember how to breathe, to see whatever he was seeing).
Tumblr media
At the end he whipped a heart out of his beanie (how I pray to god someone got that moment on camera) a la Jin. He just seemed really comfortable in his own skin last night, and I was so grateful for it.
Jeon Jungkook
I had a hard time seeing most of his Euphoria performance as it was relatively early on and people were taking a shit ton of videos. He also stayed mostly on the main stage, rather than come out to the extension area near where I was. His abs are just as great in person, and the screams were (as is to be expected), absolutely deafening. They’ve talked about it in shows, but his voice is  SO stable. Obviously they stopped at times and don’t use too much backing vocals, but it sounded EXACTLY how it does on the album. He threw something into the crowd  (I think a banner) at the end, and it FLEW so far-back to P2 or further. They’re not kidding when they talk about how strong he is.
Tumblr media
Final thoughts
At first, I was a little exhausted after my emotional trauma of the prior day, and from standing for so long but the minute it started I forgot everything else. I was salty when I couldn’t see that much bc of people recording (esp when they asked us not to), but I understand the specialness of the moment and wanting to have some tangible evidence that you were there. By the time the concert was over, I realized how special GA was, even if it’s more difficult logistically (since I went solo and didn’t have parents or friends to stand in). I still don’t know if it’s hit me that I was like 10 feet away from them, max. It reaffirmed how important they are to me. I didn’t write this to brag, but to hopefully share my perspective and let others live vicariously through my experience. If you want clarification or anything else, write to me!

the missing questions from THIS ask meme
@s0tc asks: Eva: 6, 22 teehee, 26, 44, 50, 23!
6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?
Depends on which level of schooling you mean. The Academy was great, the Watchpoint was great, he was that mean popular kid who was smart, too. So like, you couldn’t even get back at him for being stupid and needing other’s help. In standard classes he was great at math and science. He was a great soldier. The equivalent of elementary and middle school? Fucking miserable due to just his inability to empathize with the other kids, figure out what to do in some social settings, and just all the crap his parents put him through in the name of trying to “help him.”
22. What are their favourite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or do they prefer to bitch behind someone’s back?
He’s particular to “subjugant” which apparently is a slur, talking about those people who have become a part of the Empire via the Empire’s conquest and still don’t have citizen’s status. Thanks, Drew K@rpyshyn.
23. Do they have a good memory? Short term or long term? Are they good with names? Or faces?
Pretty damn good memory considering he’s super observant and, well, in his line of work he has to be. He’s good with both as a result, he’s trained himself to be.
26. How do they act when they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions?
He never really gets to that level of happy, as unbelievable as that is. He spends about 98% of his day at a constant “okay” and “content” and the other 2% frustrated af at something in his life that isn’t up to his specifications.
44. What is their favourite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most?
The rainy season on Dromund Kaas. Did u c wut i did thur? He generally likes mild weather, overcast, maybe drizzling or not raining at all. He prefers the cold and humid season of Dromund Kaas as opposed to the warm/hot season on Dromund Kaas. As such he’s better in the cold and hates the heat a little more.
50. If they could only take one bag of stuff somewhere with them: what would they pack? What do they consider their essentials?
It wouldn’t really be matter what he brought with him other than like, ID and a weapon. Essentials are essentials, he might be a rich boy but he’s military through and through. He can figure anything essential out on his own and he doesn’t actually care for material possessions.

I know I’m not gonna get any asks for this and I’m bored, so I’m gonna fill this out for my OC Bennett bc I do what I want
Originally from this post.
1. What do they smell like? I imagine him having a woodsy sort of smell, like pine and fresh rain and wildflowers. A very fresh scent.
2. What is their voice like? Smooth and sweet; it’s on the higher side for someone his age, but not outrageously high either.
3. What is their biggest motivator? Does his stubbornness count as a motivator? He likes to prove people wrong, so if they say he can’t do something, you bet your ass he’s going to do it.
4. What is their most embarrassing memory? When he was young, he fell asleep in class and woke up to several insults written on his arms and face in marker. He tried to play it off, but by the time he made it home, he was in tears because he’d been so embarrassed.
5. How do they deal with/react to pain? He has a very low pain tolerance, and usually doesn’t deal very well.
6. What do they like to wear? Simple, comfortable clothes. Usually jeans and a t-shirt or sweatshirt, or a tank top if the weather’s warm enough. Wardrobe consists of blacks and pastel colors.
7. Which of their relationships have impacted them most positively? Definitely his relationship with Seth ( @xblackblossomsx )
8. What’s the weirdest thing they’ve ever eaten? Eel. It’s ruined any other seafood for him.
9. Describe the way that they sleep. Restlessly, constantly tossing and turning when alone due to childhood trauma. More often than not, he hardly sleeps. However, he sleeps much better when with someone/being held. It’s comforting.
10. What is their favorite food/kind of food? He loves sweets.
11. What do they feel most insecure about? Mostly his personality, as well as his ‘cute’ appearance. He thinks it makes him look weak.
12. How do they like to dress? Very casual; hardly ever dresses up.
13. How do they react to feelings of guilt? He often pushes those who’re close to him away and tries to isolate himself when he feels guilty; that’s when he needs his loved ones most. If not to talk sense into him, then to comfort him.
14. How do they react to/deal with betrayal? He doesn’t take kindly to it. At first, if he’s close with the person, he’ll be in shock, and be a little hurt that they played him so easily. Then the need for revenge kicks in, and he stops at nothing to get it.
15. What is their greatest achievement? Probably surviving for as long as he has on his own.
16. What are they like when they’ve gotten too little sleep? Very grumpy and moody. Easy to snap, emotional.
17. What are they like when they’re drunk? Depending on how much he’s had to drink, he can either be highly flirtatious, or rambunctious and ready to take on the really buff guy who could more than likely snap him like a twig.
18. What kind of music do they enjoy? Upbeat and fast-paced, mostly, although he does enjoy acoustic. Style doesn’t matter to him all that much.
19. Are they right or left handed? Right handed.
20. Fears? Losing those who are close to him, abandonment, complete isolation.
21. Favorite kind of weather? Sunny and warm, though not too warm; the type of day where you could wear a jacket and not get too hot or take it off and not be too cold. Not humid nor dry, the ‘perfect weather’.
22. Favorite color? Varies between greens and reds.
23. Do they collect anything? He used to collect little paper stars when he was little; his mother would make them for him.
24. Do they prefer either hot or cold weather more? If it came to outrageously hot or cold, definitely cold.
25. What is their eye color? Green, like the green of leaves right before they start to turn. Not neon, but not dull either.
26. What is their race/ethnicity? Caucasian
27. Hair color? Red
28. Are they happy where they are currently? Sure.
29. Are they a morning person? Not really; he’d much prefer to sleep in.
30. Sunrise or sunset? Sunset, definitely.
31. Are they more messy or more organized? He tries to stay organized, but more often than not his attempts fail.
32. Pet peeves? He absolutely hates being underestimated and written off as weak.
33. Do they own any objects of significant personal importance? Not really. He isn’t materialistic and doesn’t get attached.
34. Least favorite food? Fish or seafood.
35. Least favorite color? Bright orange.
36. Least favorite smell? The smell of decay/death.
37. When was the last time they cried? The last time he slept alone; woke up from a nightmare.
38. Were they with anybody the last time they cried? No.
39. Tell us about one of the times they got injured? Shortly after his parents died and his brother disappeared, he was trying to make food and accidentally burnt his hand.
40. Do they have any scars? Quite a few, but none that are significant.
41. Do they struggle with any mental health issues? Depression and anxiety.
42. Do they have any bad habits? When he gets nervous he has a tendency to scratch at his arms (or legs if he’s sitting.) He also picks at scabs a lot.
43. Why might someone dislike them? For something he said, or they’re simply jealous of him more than likely; he tries his best to be a good person, which means he’s hard on himself and doesn’t want to mess up.
44. Why might someone love them? He’s affectionate, he puts those he cares about before him and is almost always there for them.
45. Do they believe in ghosts? Of course he does.
46. Is there anyone they would trust with their lives? Two people.
47. Are they romantically interested in anyone? Pffft ya.
48. Are they dating/married to anyone? Dating, yes.
49. Do they like surprises? Depends on the surprise, but usually yes.

51. How do they usually celebrate their birthday? He doesn’t, he grew up on his own so he didn’t really have any way to celebrate.
52. Do they have any family? His mother and father were murdered, his brother is alive but in conspiracy with the enemy, which he has no clue about.
53. Are they close to their family? He was very close with his mother.

61. When bored, how do they pass time? Tinkering with electronics or reading.
62. Do they enjoy being outside? He loves the outdoors, yeah.
63. Do they have an accent? Not really.
64. Upon seeing a slice of chocolate cake, what is their first reaction? Probably, “Food! Is this anyone’s? Can I have it?”
65. If they knew they were going to die, what would they do/say? He’d try to comfort his loved ones, right up until his last breath.
66. How do they feel about sex? He’s an innocent child not really he’s kinky af. He’s a little awkward when talking about it, and even more awkward when proposed with the idea of it.
67. What is their sexuality? Gayyyyyy
68. Do they become squeamish at the sight of blood? Yeah, but mainly if it belongs to him or someone who’s close to him.
69. Is there anything that they find really gross? Seafood and grotesque wounds.
70. Which TV Trope(s) best describes them? N/a
71. Do they enjoy helping people? Definitely

74. Are they quick to anger? What are they like when they loose their temper? Depends on the situation, but when he loses his temper, he acts like a little brat, and gets all huffy and loud.
75. How patient are they? He’s somewhat patient. Again, it depends on the situation.
76. Are they good at cooking? He’s decent.
77. Favorite insult? Do they insult people often? His go-to insult is “idiot” or “asshole”. He doesn’t insult people often and mean it, but he does when he’s playing around. It’s more of an affectionate gesture.
78. How do they act when they’re particularly happy? Very bubbly and affectionate. His good mood is sure to rub off on those around him.
79. What do they do when they learn about other people’s fears? He respects their fears, but if they want, he’s more than willing to help them work through them.
80. Are they trustworthy? Of course.
81. Do they try to hide their emotions? Are they good at it? Only when he’s really upset, guilty, or downcast. He’s not good at it.
82. Do they exercise regularly? Yeah.
83. Are they comfortable with the way they look? He thinks he’s too soft and cute looking, but yes, he is.
84. What are some physical features that they find attractive on people? Eyes, definitely. He finds that the eyes reveal more about a person, if you know how to read them.
85. What kind of personalities do they find attractive? He’s a sucker for ‘tsundere’ trope characters, mainly because he likes to tease a lot. But he looks for those who can have a sense of humor as well.
86. Do they like sweet foods? May I redirect you to question 64. Always keep an eye on your sweets while he’s around.
87. What is their age? 19
88. Are they tall or short or somewhere in between? He’s short, a whole five feet and seven inches.
89. Do they wear glasses or contacts? Nope.
90. Do they consider themselves attractive? Not really, but he knows he’s not too hard on the eyes.
91. What is their sense of humor like? Very cheesy, he particularly likes puns and jokes about how gay he is.
92. What mood are they most often in? An easy-going, mellow mood.
93. What kinds of things anger them? He hates being lied to, being told he isn’t good or strong enough. Anything along those lines will set him off quick, as well as any bad talk of his parents.
94. Outlook on life? “It sucks, but so do I ;)”
95. What kind of things make them sad/depressed? Mentions of his past.
96. What is their greatest weakness? His loyalty. He’d be willing to do anything to keep his loved ones safe. That, and his lack in confidence in himself.
97. What is the greatest strength? His quick thinking. He’s super smart, and quick to pick up on things no one else does.
98. Something that they regret? Not disobeying. He feels he could’ve saved his parents; chances are, he would’ve ended up dead as well if he’d tried to intervene.
99. Biggest accomplishment? In his eyes, learning how to use his bow. It’s one of the things he takes pride in.

2k16
wow it’s been awhile since i’ve written one of these. i just realized that i totally didn’t write one last year. anyway i dont even know where to begin. 2016 has been an interesting year to say the least. i was rereading some of my old posts and i said omg a lot. the days just seem to go by in a blur nowadays, so i will try to recap 2016 as best as i can. i dont have a word to encompass this year though.
went to seattle in january. tried some really expensive sushi..twice..holy crap. the quality was a1 but man the bill was something else. seattle was nice though. definitely had a san francisco vibe to it, except for when you go to the waterside and look back at all the construction. i guess we kinda ran out of things to do bc on the last day we went to chinatown and the area seemed really dinky. also gained a ton of weight in seattle though u_u
in february we tried 5a5 steakhouse. and let me tell u. it is the best beef i have ever had. it is also the most money i have ever spent on a single meal. oh my god. i dont know if i'll ever be back, but i would like to, some day.
thus far, the semester was pretty okay. let's see..i had government accounting with a moody professor who would throw tantrums whenever no one participated. i also had business law with this old guy who was really lively and fun. i had strategic management with a bryan cranston look alike. the class was really interesting though and i learned a lot and it got me started on reading the economist lmao im so old. i miss having so much free time that came with school. 40 hour work weeks are not the life (even if i barely do anything at work).
went to LA during spring break. and at a good time too bc it was still the soft opening of harry potter world so the lines were v manageable. butterbeer was dope. the entire hogsmeade village just felt so real. had sooo much good food in LA omg. got to see some friends as well. had some of the best steak frites ever.
i cant believe i particpated in asu's talent show this year. much has changed in asu since i joined. it makes me wonder if i was behaving that way when i first joined. it seems a lot more clique-y and high school and drama filled but hey maybe it was that way when i was active but i just never noticed. had many fun lunches with my grand little but man there is a lot of drama in asu and im just glad i wasnt in any of it. i kinda miss the old asu days of staying out late to eat or do nothing at all but also i dont miss it bc i get enough sleep and im a lot more productive without asu lmao. finally ended things with tram for good. maybe things turned out the way they did for the better. the entire friendship was such a roller coaster. im glad its over.
the end of the semester rolled around!!! and i graduated!!!! :') attended my sisters graduation which was pretty boring bc high school students have such a narrow view of life (not to say that college students are any better). attended my own graduation. felt really fortunate to have jessa and anthony there. this one kid in my graudating class gave a speech about accomplishments...and he revealed the wrestling belt he was wearing underneath his graduation gown...and then he made the grads stand up and chant thank yous to the friends and family sitting behind us. it was so embarrassing and extra omg.
shortly after graduation i was on a plane headed back to the motherland. and let me tell u. i hated most of it. it was super hot and humid and my sister and i shared about 100 mosquito bites between the both of us. also. i know i shouldnt but..vietnam is so dirty. i know its not their fault that theyre a developing country but man there are exactly zero sanitation standards and i dont even know why we were there bc the water had recently been polluted so none of the fish were edible and my mom didnt trust the food stands to have clean food either. i guess i made some new friends and visited some cool places but at what cost??? also i think my entire fam got sick bc we slept with the ac on but either way, the meds i took made me lose my sense of smell i think and i couldnt taste or smell anything for two weeks. the ac air also dried out my nose and gave me a skin infection (which i will discuss later). during our trip to danang a small ferry got flipped on the big river and a bunch of ppl died and the government tried to cover it up bc bad publicity etc. they played it off as if only a few ppl died rather than most of the ppl on the boat. our tour guide in danang was in the know tho so he told us everything and w o w that really could've been us on that river bc it was a boat the left the dock about half an hour after our boat left. crazy.
after the long and arduous journey abroad i finally made it back home...and then headed to hawaii. hawaii was dope af. 10/10 would recommend, would go back. battled the tides when we went kayaking and sadly the tides won and i lost my hat but also almost lost my flip flops if it weren't for some kind random strangers who swam out to get my flip flops. we stayed on oahu and maui. hiked up a v steep mountain in oahu. lost my hat from kayaking. got caught in the rain when we went looking for a beach on the first day. had some of the best shaved ice ever. attended my first luau. fell asleep during the first part of a fire dancing show (bc the fire hadnt started yet). essentially pulled an all nighter to try oahu's famous bakery that opened at 3am. flew to maui but due to poor planning we arrived 4 hours earlier than check in lmao. the house we had in maui was so beautiful though omg. it was ocean side so we could hear the waves every night and it just felt so peaceful and tranquil to sit on the balcony in the mornings, just staring out at sea. in maui we went snorkeling. the last time i went snorkeling was like...10+ years ago...in cancun...and the water was freezing...and i also thought i was lost in the middle of the ocean on our way to the snorkeling location... but anyway! the snorkeling this time was so cool omg they had prescription swimming goggles so i could see EVERYTHING. they also provided lunch which was dope. it started raining on our way back to shore though lmao. the next day we drove all the way up the volcano in maui...to find that the top was foggy af and we couldnt see anything. the road up was pretty nasty bc super windy and 10000 ft elevation. it got really foggy after like 6000ft so we basically drove in all fog until the top which was still foggy but also like 20 degrees colder than the rest of maui. maui is super rural omg. we tried to find a place to eat after our trek but there were barely any food places in sight. we picked a random spot in the middle of nowhere and then decided to take the road to hana (which is on the opposite side of where we were staying, and was about 3 hrs away. and boy did we mess up. we took the alternate road there and it was scarier than going up the volcano bc 1) windy 2) small ass roads which were unpaved at certain points and 3) cliff hugging roads..i cant believe i made the drive there and back it was so terrifying omg. not sure if i would go back. at one point there was a big ass cow in the middle of the road. once we got to hana though, the hike was really nice despite the humidity. almost died crossing the river at the end to see the waterfall. all the rocks had big ants on them!!! how was i supposed to cross the river!!! we missed out on the wading pools though but we were so starving by that time. made the 3 hr drive back and everyone was dead. spent the last day on maui not doing much bc rainy and we were all so dead.
about two weeks after i got back from hawaii was training week in sac for my first big girl job. ngl but i felt super homesick that first night. idk why since i would be home by the end of the week anyway. probably just overwhelmed by how fast everything was happening. graduation and now transitioning into a full time job. scary stuff. but i did make a really good friend in sac so it didnt turn out so bad!!! training was pretty fun bc our presenter was pretty engaging. except when we went over the boring stuff and i was v close to falling asleep. did get to catch up with some of my sac friends though which was nice. went to the state fair for the first time as well. it was..exactly as expected but hotter lmao. my family went to san diego at this time bc my sister was going to comic con but i couldnt make it :(
got back from training and started my first big girl job. im not sure what i expected but it was easy but also hard? my first engagement i was only with one other senior and she was super nice and pretty and really good at lettering. i dont feel like i learned much? i only really did the tasks given to me but i feel like half the time i wasnt even sure what i was doing. i also hated the commute all the way back from walnut creek. the going there wasnt so bad bc i got a ride out to oakland but man it would take forever to get home. :'( my second engagement was just me and a partner and i feel like she expected me to know everything...but i didnt know anything...so i mostly sat around a lot??? esp bc she wasnt on site every day so i had zero supervision. :/ towards the end of the second engagement i got an email from the city saying that they were accepting me into their accounting position and i was like oh shit. i ended up taking the job, which gave me a week in between quitting the first job and starting the second, which i used to go back to LA lmao bc i had a season ticket to universal. actually ate at the three broomsticks this time. it was defs filling and i thought it was a good bang for buck. attempted to go to the walking dead tour..chickened out..twice. i probs would've died in there tbh. also went to disneyland!!!! that was lit. their macone-roni and cheese was da bomb. saw world of color for the first time except it was the 50th anniversary edition so it wasnt so great. bumped into the couple that was in jbieb's love yourself video. tried some new food places in LA and saw some old friends, again.
started my second big girl job. all my coworkers are super nice except the big boss is kind of crazy and anal. but we deal with it. my supervisor is so nice :'( work isnt so bad bc i dont do much lmao. the hardest part sometimes is just staying awake if im being honest. getting paid to do nothing is the life tho.
spent my birthday weekend in monterey. we were supposed to go atv-ing but ended up going wine tasting but also not really bc we liked the first wine so much we got a bottle of that to share. it was really cold that weekend surprisingly so we stayed in and then went to this spa place on a whim and it was definitely an interesting experience.
went as a rice bag for halloween and i think that was probably my greatest costume to date. except we ended up going to a party full of white ppl...and i was like the only asian there gdi
tagged along w my sister when she went to sd. got to see many friends!!! went clubbing as well and that was lit. took michelle clubbing for her 21st birthday, also lit. squadsgiving and christmas were super fun. got some supplies for bullet journaling so guess thatll be my new years resolution. but also to take more photos bc i didnt buy that camera for nothing.
okay so in conclusion. i did a lot of stuff this year. it feels like it was mostly all highs. or maybe i just block out the lows but im pretty sure there were way more highs than lows. 2016 was a great year tbh. oh yeah i also passed two of four parts of my cpa exam!!! woot. in 2016, i learned a lot...of accounting lmao. plus i ran my first 5k!!!!! oh yeah and i joined a gym and now im getting swole af. im not sure what my reflections are. i guess, if i were to compare 2k16 kim to 2k14 kim i've for sure come a long ways. i wasnt afraid to try new challenges and conquer them. i stepped out of my comfort zone multiple times, sometimes with the help of alcohol. i got my shit together and really focused in school (which got me a 4.0 during my last year of college). i also got my shit together and studied my ass off for the cpa (which is still ongoing i crey). i really wanna say this was probably one of my best years with everything i was able to do and everything i achieved. so here's to you, 2016, and may 2017 be even better!!!

Ecology: Biomes
Biome - a region on Earth that has a certain climate, vegetation, and animal life. Altitude and latitude can create similar biomes. If you played Minecraft as a kid like me, you’ll probably be pretty familiar.
When I learned this unit in class, we did a project thing on our Chromebooks and we spent like a week researching on it so don’t stress about this too much.
Marine
- largest biome (3/4 of Earth’s surface)
- most stable
- makes the most food and oxygen
- subdivided into levels by amount of sunlight, distance from shore, depth, and open water/ocean bottom (open oceans have little nutirents, while ocean bottoms have a lot)
Tropical Rainforest
- near the equator, hot and humid climate (BASICALLY DEATH)
- Ok apprently it’s not death weather bc apparently it’s the biome with the most biodiversity
- Big daddy trees make lots of food and other organic matter, and make canopies
- Epiphytes grow on the trees, but they block the sunlight and kill eventually kill them
Desert
- less than 10 inches of rain per year
- hot during the day, and cold at night (tropical rainforest who? this is the TRUE death weather)
- most animals are active at night, when it is not the DEVIL’S BURNING HOT WEATHER
- Cacti: shallow roots capture rainwater; have leaves called spines that act as defense against animals that try to steal its water; can expand to hold extra water
Temperate Grasslands
- little rain
- lots of grazing animals (bison, antelope, wildebeast, etc.)
- burrowing animals (rodents)
- just basically lots of grass and a couple deer things and rodents and no rain,,, maybe some little house on the prairie,,, otherwise boring af
Temperate Deciduous Forest
- Northeast in ‘Murica
- Have trees that drop leaves in winter
- Vertical stratification of organisms
- Rich soil due to dead leaves (that dropped in the winter)
- Lots of animals hibernate during winter
Taiga/Conifer Forest/Boreal Forest
- Canada
- lots of evergreen trees
- lots of lakes and ponds
- lots of rain
- COLD AF IN WINTER
- largest biome on land
- lots of snow (trees are shaped like cones so snow falls off easily)
- moose, black bears, lynxes, elk, etc.
Tundra
- the north north north north
- permafrost = land stays frozen all year long
- little rain, just cold all the time
- insects and birds
- raindeer, caribou, wolves, foxes, polar bears, etc.
- lots of individuals, but not a lot of species
