finally unlocked the communism book club in disco elysium after missing it on my first playthrough cause i got it double-scheduled with my encounter with THE PIGS
and when they got to the bit about increasing turnip yields with greater revolutionary fervor
(look i know it's a reference to lysenkoism but)
revolutionary fervor? or resentful energy? how about both?? *face looking out from over fingers pointed at each other* *that turn into finger guns bc lol ofc they do*

tag someone you want to get to know better
tagged by @woobifiedvillain a few days ago and finally remembered to do it!!
Favorite color: Yellow, but not an overwhelming yellow, like that soft warm yellow? I love it. People tend to not expect this answer, I think I give off more of a blue or grey vibe. Honestly a pretty grey/silver is probably my second favorite color, but a buttery yellow is just so good for the soul.
Last song: You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi. Danced to it in the kitchen, got consumed by the guitar riffs, nearly knocked a chair over. Before this morning it would've been the Genshin OST... I've been listening to it a lot while I write or do chores recently.
Last movie: An exceedingly mediocre romcom on Netflix that I watched with my sick mom to be nice. Genuinely couldn't tell you the title or more than like, two or three plot points. Last movie that I watched bc I wanted to was the Barbie movie, which was genuinely better than I expected. Enjoyable but would still give it, like, a mixed review. I'm not getting into two months' ago Barbie Movie Discourse on this post
Currently watching: I'M STILL TRYING TO FINISH THE UNTAMED!!!! woobifiedvillain i'm speaking directly to you and quoting you: i too am "chronically incapable of paying attention to visual media, even the good shit" and when i try to explain this to people irl they act like i am insane!!! I haven't watched Good Omens season 2 yet even tho I am reblogging posts about it rn. I think it's mostly adhd, or really just a part of the larger Neurodivergence Soup (tm) that makes it nearly impossible for me to learn something from a YouTube video. I mean, sometimes for a hands-on task a video is essential, but can't there be a written list of instructions to go with it too, bc that sticks in my mind way better sobs... ANYWAY i'm currently on episode 43 of The Untamed, so I should be able to finish it by, like. The end of the year at least lol?
Currently reading: I started reading SVSSS recently because, like. The mxtx mania is in full throttle. I just got here a little later than most people lmao. I'm also currently "reading" like seven different books that I bought or pirated this year and have on hold. One of my Unfortunate Skills is bingereading like 200 pages of something in 1-2 days and then not finishing the rest of it for 8 months.
Currently working on: Keep My Shadow Alive, my big xue yang-centric fix it fic!!! Well, more like a fix it, and then break it more, and then eventually actually fix it fic. Starting from the canon divergence of "Add Pre-Teen Xue Yang to the Burial Mounds Fam" and going from there. I read every fic like that that's on ao3 and was still being eaten alive by the brainworms so I started writing my own take on it and ~6 months later it's the longest fic I've ever written and only 25% of the way through its outline???? So. Who knows if it will get finished (my track record is admittedly not great)- but I've had such a blast writing it so far. Xue Yang is just SO fun to write. Yes it has a plot and character arcs and I could even go full English Major* and start telling you about its Themes, but also it's just an excuse to write Xue Yang interacting with every member of the MDZS cast. Going to STOP talking now bc I fully am the type of writer who will get carried away talking about their wips.
*i am not an english major, but spiritually i am an english major.
Current obsession: Yeah uh, MDZS. My friend convinced me to finally read it in January of this year, and the hyperfixation train has simply not stopped since then. Genshin Impact also dragged me back in with the Fontaine update and I've been having a lot of fun playing it. But MDZS is still mostly the thing that's eating up my RAM. Particularly the Yi City crew, but 3zun is rotating in there too. Sometimes even The Man WWX Himself, i talk about him less but i do love him a lot also lol
Tagging: I'm honestly too shy to do this!!! But thank you for tagging me anyway<3

Follower Recs
Stories I haven’t read yet, but clearly need to put on my ever-expanding List.
~*~
Welcome back queen [Thank you, it’s so lovely to be back!] if ur still doing follower recs I gotta recommend I would wait for a thousand years by bleuett it’s soooooooo good
[This one was actually recced to me by two different people, the other of whom said, “ Maybe I'm crying a little so I feel like a should recommend ‘I would wait for a thousand years’ by bleuett on ao3.”]... it’s def. on my List!
I would wait for a thousand years
by bleuett (T, 10k, wangxian)
Summary:  During the worst of winter, a traveler comes to stay at Lan Wangji's inn. He wears a red ribbon in his hair.
“Do you see the rabbit?” Wei Ying asks and points at the moon. “That’s the moon rabbit, he helps make Chang’e more immortality elixir. He keeps Chang’e company.”
“I do not wish the rabbit for company,” Lan Wangji says tightly. “You are the one I want by my side.”
“And I’m here, Lan Zhan. If you go to the moon, I’ll follow you, I’ll always be here now.”
~*~
I just read a great fic by aisthuu "every love story is a ghost story", didn't see it in your recs so wanted to recommend it! LWJ is a guqin composer and teacher, buys a cheap guqin off eBay which ends up being attached to WWX's spirit from canon era. It's bittersweet, LWJ deals with Lan's homophobia (implicit in a Lan way) and his feelings towards the ghost. This is author's only ao3 fic and honestly I don't remember how I stumbled upon it, but I'm happy I did and hope you will enjoy it too!  [I’ve recently read this one, and loved it!]
every love story is a ghost story
by aisthuu (M, 59k, wangxian, my bookmark)
Summary:  The man is in Lan Zhan’s bed. Did they—he begins to wonder, eyes trailing to where the man’s body lies under the blanket. Had Lan Zhan—?
Then the sleep-fog clears and Lan Zhan realizes that the young man isn’t quite opaque around the edges.
“You’re a spirit.”
The spirit narrows its eyes. “I’m so much more than that.”
(Lan Zhan buys a guqin off eBay for a suspiciously low price, only to find that it’s haunted. And now there’s a ghost in his bed.)
~*~
Ok so I absolutely have to rec "see you yesterday" by glyphic. It's a wip, but it's currently at 101k so there's a whole lot there, and it's terrible and wonderful and beautiful all at once. The way the backstory of canon events is adapted to the modern-with-cultivation setting is brilliant, and then there's the amnesia, and then there's the time loop. This fic lives permanently rent-free in my brain.
see you yesterday
by glyphic (M, 101k, wangxian, WIP)
Summary:
Wei Ying 21:09 hey lan zhan what’s the weirdest way youve died
Lan Zhan 21:11 Falling encyclopedias.
Wei Ying 21:12 omg no way that’s so rude turning books against you???
Lan Zhan 21:13 A betrayal I will never forget.
On Halloween night, an exiled demonic cultivator and a Lan disciple get stuck in a time-loop, find each other, and try to figure it all out.
~*~
If you are looking for recs for yourself I absolutely love (the complete!) story Just as the Snow Melts by draechali on AO3. It's a canon divergence where everyone lives, even WWX! ~ @airmidcelt
Just as the Snow Melts
by draechaeli (T, 67k, wangxian)
Summary:  Like a snowy mountain top in spring the residents of the Burial Mounds trickled down the mountain and joined the flow of society.
“I went to the Burial Mounds,” Lan WangJi said.
“Ah, yeah… I’m sorry Lan Zhan,” replied Wei WuXian, “I hadn’t thought anyone would come to visit. I am still not sure how it happened; I brought A-Yuan to Yiling to play by the river and then ended up somehow teaching a bunch of children swimming and writing along with him.”
~*~
Hello! It's come to my attention that you have not as yet read Grandmaster of Meme-onic Cultivation! Please do! It's the only thing that gave me joy during 2020 😆 like proper belly laughs and disney villain style cackling. It is a wip, and it is long but so so worth it!! The author has reworked the entire canon through these message crystals and still conveys complex characters despite the tricky format. It's just so good!! Highly highly recommend it! ❤ ~ @theladypeartree  [Oh!  I’ve been subscribed to this one, and know that @swaglexander-the-great is a reliable provider of Hilarity, so I’m excited for it to be finished!]
Grandmaster of Meme-onic Cultivation
by Hades_the_Blingking (T, 49k, wangxian, WIP)
Summary:  The Untamed universe is exactly the same, except everybody has magical crystals that have a suspiciously familiar messaging system. The story is pretty much the same as the show, except everyone lives!! (so minor changes).
or in which Wei WuXian tries his darndest to date Lan Zhan, Jiang Cheng possibly has a aneurysm, Jin ZiXuan is still the most awkward human alive, and Xue Yang makes me write some VERY cursed things. Written in chatfic format! :3
~*~
Chomrafy on AO3 deserves love and encouragement; she’s written a body of compact, poetic, and eloquent shortfics each of which can stand alone, but that comprise an intricately cross-referential and mostly internally-consistent universe. They’re grouped as chapters in works according to theme; for example, “in cupped hands” focuses upon Jin Ling and his second-generation baggage; “Departure in Autumn” portrays the last years of WWX’s first life. Follow the tag “Chomrafy’s MDZS shortfics.” [I don’t see this tag?]
in cupped hands
by chomrafy (G, 2k, wangxian)
Summary:  Of secrets, of futures, of love. A Jin Ling-centric collection of 200-word fics.
Ch.1: Jin Ling repays a debt (JL, JC, & WWX). Ch.2: Jin Ling and a ghost in the mirror. (JL & JYL) Ch.3: A matter of friends (JL & the other kids) Ch.4: In this house we don't keep dogs (JC & WWX) Ch.5: In the end, he remains silent (JL & uncles) Ch.6: A first night hunt, of sorts (JL & the other kids) Ch.7: Jin Ling, forgiving, forgetting (JL & LXC & JGY) Ch.8: Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling argue (JL, JC, & WWX) Ch.9: Jin Ling and his father (JL & JC) Ch.10: Jin Ling speaks up (JL, JC, & WWX) Ch.11: Jin Ling and a piece of home (JL, JC, & WWX)
Departure in Autumn
by chomrafy (not rated, 6k)
Summary:  Four perspectives. A steady march to the end.
Ch.1: Because if anything happens to them, Wen Qing would never be able to heal with these hands again. Ch.2: As long as this is still home, Jiang Yanli will wait as long as she needs to. Ch.3: Five times Jiang Cheng reaches for Wei Wuxian, one time he turns away. Ch.4: Whether the road is broad or narrow, bright or dark, they would have to keep walking. Wei Wuxian digs Wen Qing's grave.
~*~
Hello, hope all is going well. I don't have an ask, by I do have a recommendation. I read this fic a while ago and found it again. I just wanted to recommend this for everyone. Let me know what you think please. Thank you. [Oh!  This one’s in my To Read list, but  I’d forgotten about it.  Mmmm, fox!wwx and dragon!lwj.]
Ten miles of Lotus Flowers
by Yukirin_Snow
M, 274k, wangxian
Summary:  He was a mischievous fox spirit, wreaking havoc where he went, about to depart on a journey that would span centuries.
He was a heavenly prince, a proud dragon destined to ascend the throne to become emperor.
Neither expected their paths to collide over the span of three lives.
~*~
I forgot if it was your blog 😥 that recommended “Bestseller” (when Wei Wuxian writes the Xianxia cut-sleeve equivalent of Fifty Shades of Grey, based entirely on his experiences with Lan Wangji, he doesn’t expect it to become the next big hit) (https://archiveofourown.org/works/21528316/chapters/51318766)
But OMG IT WAS HILARIOUS!!! I LOVED IT!! And if it wasn’t your blog, I’m so sorry for how weird this sounds 😭😭😭😭 I just loved this fic so much that I have to tell it to someone 😢 [It’s on my List, but I haven’t read it yet!]
Bestseller
by pupeez4eva
M, 8k, wangxian
Summary:  He had written the book to prove a point. It was never supposed to be a big thing, and he certainly never intended for everyone — Jiang Cheng, Zewu-Jun, the Juniors, literally everyone— to be reading about his sex life.
Oh God, he definitely needed to make sure Lan Zhan didn’t find out about this.
(Or, when Wei Wuxian writes the Xianxia cut-sleeve equivalent of Fifty Shades of Grey, based entirely on his experiences with Lan Wangji, he doesn’t expect it to become the next big hit).

I’d like to rec On Your Marks, Get Set, Bake! by @blackwiresgrowonherhead
It’s one of my absolute favorites and I laughed out loud so many times when reading it
on your marks, get set, bake!
by BlackWiresOnHerHead
G, 41k, wei wuxian & juniors
Summary:  Jin Ling resumes thumping on the door to room 721, and the small collection of freshmen starts chanting “Senior Wei! Senior Wei! Senior Wei!” with increasing volume until finally Wei Wuxian opens the door.
“Yes?” he says with his widest, most innocent eyes.
“Senior Wei!” demands Lan Jingyi, shoving himself to the front of the group. “Why didn’t you tell us you’re a contestant on this year’s season of The Great Gusu Bake Off?!?”
--
Several months ago, college student Wei Wuxian secretly competed in the most popular reality show in the country. The show starts airing in the fall. The freshmen in his dorm collectively lose their minds.

If you're in the mood for v. short ridiculous fun fic, may I suggest My chain hits my chest/When I'm bangin' on the radio by x_los It's 2k modern cultivators AU, featuring WWX calling LWJ's sword Bitchin' [omg I’m laughing so hard] and I think it's more fun going in blind?
My chain hits my chest/When I'm bangin' on the radio
by x_los
T, 2k, wangxian
Summary:  Lan Wangji finds he doesn't even need to call for help for Wei Wuxian to come running.

top 5 the untamed fanfic AUs you'd like to read
t juslides in with meme six months late without starbucks
this is just noting, also, that many of these AUs already exist! I’m just talking here about AUs I want to see more of.  just because they’re on here doesn’t mean I’m discounting the versions people have already written.
1. AU where Xue Yang gets stuck traveling with Xiao Xingchen (and Song Lan, optionally) after the massacre of the Chang Clan, but in CQL verse where they end up as fugitives (oh my god, and then they were fugitives). We know from a brief throwaway line from Wen Qing that apparently Song Lan (and presumably also Xiao Xingchen) are on the Wen shit list, most likely because they’re people who had contact with Xue Yang and Xue Yang is Wen Ruohan’s Most Wanted for a while there until he gets busy with other stuff. And I want to see things that play with that! Either with just Xue Yang and Xiao Xingchen or with the whole trio.
But yeah! On the run together, presumably Xiao Xingchen can’t/won’t ditch Xue Yang to get up to mischief, I don’t think he’s terribly inclined to turn him over to the Wens for a few different reasons, and everyone else is getting all caught up in a war so his options for ‘places to drop Xue Yang off that could handle him’ are pretty narrow.
I’m a sucker for bonding under duress and this seems like it could be a fun opportunity, and also has the bonus of probably keeping Xue Yang from annihilating Baixue Temple, which is good.
2. AU where Xiao Xingchen knows who Xue Yang is from the get-go (or figures it out mid-stream) and for whatever reason keeps him around anyway. I don’t care why it happens or how it happens I just think it’s a fun concept to work with, however it’s played. Whether it happens so that Xue Yang knows Xiao Xingchen knows, or Xiao Xingchen knows but Xue Yang doesn’t know that he does, or it’s ambiguous and they’re kind of going for plausible deniability...it just creates some fun opportunities, ya feel?
I’m particularly fond of this happening midstream rather than right off, because I think it does really interesting and fun things to their dynamic if Xiao Xingchen is already invested at that point (and that’s the version I feel like I see more often), but I’m currently writing a version of from the get-go and enjoying that too.
3. Yi City reincarnation AU. I just want everyone being kinda fucked up by their past lives and continuing to be stuck in each others’ orbit, and I especially like this when Song Lan isn’t reincarnated and is just, you know, still around but undead.
I am aware this is not how reincarnation works at all, that part of the point is that it’s a fresh start, but it’s what I want when it comes to my fanfiction AUs and I think that’s legit of me.
I just...love a cyclical narrative, too, so I also really enjoy versions of this where it’s more than one reincarnation cycle, and I would read like. 100k of that.
4. AU where Xiao Xingchen’s suicide either fails or Xue Yang brings him back and is desperate to make things work this time. This is another “I will read five million versions of this concept” things, and I will read them in a wide range of dark to more hopeful, and I will still hunger for more because god!!! There’s so many ways you can take it and all of them are delicious. Another reason I specifically love this one is because either way Xiao Xingchen is going to be a mess and I kind of love fucking Xiao Xingchen up emotionally and psychologically but not in a way where he, you know, dies.
...which as I write that out is very Xue Yang of me, isn’t it.
And then also Xue Yang frantically going LOOK I MADE IT BETTER (he did not make it better) and TOTALLY FIXED IT EVERYTHING’S FINE NOW RIGHT (it is not fine now) and he’s not used to having to, you know, “make amends” or whatever, this is not an experience he’s familiar with and he’s not enjoying it.
5. does “time loop AUs” count as a single entry? because like. I would read several different versions of time loop AUs. for an incomplete sampling:
A. Xiao Xingchen stuck in a time loop. I’m writing one of these but I would like many, in which Xiao Xingchen is stuck in a miserable cycle until he figures out a Yi City fix it, and a lot of people die several times in the process, and it’s all very upsetting. Doesn’t this sound good to you guys?
B. Wei Wuxian stuck in a time loop. I have a prompt for this one for myself about Wei Wuxian in a time loop specifically at Nightless City which is really where I want it to be. Again, for misery reasons. I always like trapping characters at their low points. It just makes everything more fun.
C. Jiang Cheng stuck in a time loop. I don’t even care where, it just...okay, not only is it good for all the usual reasons it’s good (forcing someone to recapitulate their trauma and being unable to escape it until they find a way to escape it), is that not a perfect metaphor for Jiang Cheng’s life and problems.
The “being stuck in a moment or moments of time and unable to get out, unable to leave the past behind, continually recapitulating in a more metaphorical way past traumas and therefore often recreating them” and like. Would love to do that to him. I don’t even know where I’d want it to start. After the fall of Lotus Pier? Before that? After Wei Wuxian comes back? After Wei Wuxian goes to the Burial Mounds? I just want to read Jiang Cheng suffering through the mortifying experience of reliving his own mistakes and also making new ones.
D. Xue Yang stuck in a time loop. Someone did already write a very good and frankly iconic version of this but there can never be too many and also that one was very sad and I’d love one where it is less sad. Though sad works too, because the whole theme of Yi City being “we are all trapped in this cycle of destruction no one is escaping alive” is...well, it hurts me but also I like it. but also it hurts me. regardless I would love to read Xue Yang making a go at fixing things (for himself, obviously, all else is incidental) because he’d be terrible at it.
anyway, that’s five, or maybe eight depending on how you count. I’m going with five.
you will notice that pretty much all of these are yi city centric aus and that is because I’m actually less interested in aus that futz with the main plot, in general. I’m not opposed to them or anything but I don’t generally seek them out unless they’re by an author I already know I like.
(hypothetically I would like Wen Qing and Jiang Yanli to not die, but the problem is that I’m so deeply invested in the tragedy of the first life. like, in the Yanli Lives fic I’m writing I killed Jiang Cheng because I wanted to keep that sweet Yunmeng Siblings Misery.)
the exception to this would hypothetically be varieties of Jin Guangyao Lives AUs, but I actually have less of a concrete idea of what I want from that one, just that I, you know. want him to live his best life actually.

im sorry if u dont do fic recs u can ignore this! ive been seeing ur reblogs n its kinda putting me back to mdzs mood (i thought i was over this sike to me ig) n if u have any fics uve read n liked id gladly take any 🤲
oh i love this for u!! im def new here so i haven’t actually read a ton but my fic finding method is currently —1) ask @lanwangjigrumpyfacecollection what i should read bc their taste is immaculate and i always end up crying at whatever they rec 2) after reading a particularly excellent fic, comb thru that author’s ao3 bookmarks, rinse repeat etc—and that hasn’t failed me yet :)
anyway here’s a list of my faves so far!
The Roots Grow Riotous by hansbekhart - 104k E a fashion industry au from LWJ’s pov. immersive, devastating, poetic. i could probs write an essay-length reflection on this shit. felt genuinely rearranged after reading it. a stand alone novel in its own right. a beautiful exploration of grief, loneliness, despair, horror, etc. like, come for the lovely wangxian dynamics and them being hot, stay for the revelatory LWJ character study that had me in fucking tearsss by the end. truly deserves to be read widely just for how singular and cinematic that third act is.
Three changes. by orange_crushed - 18k M for someone who reads so much angst i could choke on it, i love to recover with distilled tenderness, no hurt all yearning etc. and this is the blossoming of summer love cql-lecture-arc the boys deserved. peak comfort fic mentally i am in that lake scene. young terrified-of-love LWJ my beloved!!
Say So by @lanwangjigrumpyfacecollection - 15k E feat. a sex-cursed WWX incapable of playing it cool. LWJ is not not pleased. more importantly who is doing it like feelsforbreakfast. who!!! u know i had zero intention of getting into the untamed even tho it ruled my dash for 2 years and yet the moment ffb wrote a fic? im there. say less. say nothing at all. ur always in for a tender funny horny time. it’s hot it’s hilarious it’s abt the mortifying ordeal of voicing what one wants. 10/10 re-readability.
your name, safe in their mouth by astrolesbian - 10k G [lan sizhui gets sick on a night hunt. wei wuxian comforts him. they both have a lot of feelings about it.] how to gently rip out my heart and stitch it back together in 10k words: explore literally any aspect of WWX-LSZ father-son relationship. be sure to include post-resurrection WWX feeling like he’ll always be playing catch up with lost time and the people who had to survive his death. feature a vulnerable LSZ (who just wants to be close with his undead dad) and a wary WWX (who doesn’t know if he deserves that closeness). im still emo abt this
Pentimento. by orange_crushed - 73k E [Former best friends Lan Wangji, paintings conservator, and Wei Wuxian, art handler, meet again and realize... neither of them were actually in unrequited love.] immaculate setting, i read it for that reason alone. loved LWJ’s pov in this—reserved, self-conscious, observant, sad, suffocating with unspoken desires etc. but it’s the final paragraphs of the last chapter that got me. thee loveliest surprise and such a satisfying close to the story.
A Very Star-Like Start by hansbekhart - 3k E short lovely soft perfect. the extended cql wangxian lotus lake boat scene we deserved.
All that is solid melts into air by huxiyi - 18k T was absolutely taken with the premise of this fic bc 1) i love angst 2) i love seeing a bitter/sad/angry wangxian in their older age making amends 3) i love thinking about the class dynamics in CQL, WWX’s robin-hood streak, all the villains having origin stories that amount to a lack of status, and the breakdown of relationships because of these dynamics. everything is a sad mess but it will be ok!
No night as deep as my night. by orange_crushed - 17k E another orange_crushed bc well. if u find a good author it makes sense to work thru all their fics. anyway this one is a post-nightless city au. wwx on the verge of death. lwj desperate to save him. equal parts dark and lovely. idk how to explain it but i feel like orange_crushed excels at using a fic setting to build emotional landscapes that completely expand ur understanding of a character. this one in particular feels like a love letter to the burial mounds, homes made out of dead things, personified darkness, etc.

OKAY so the untamed has me by the throat and i am just SO torn on which idea to write next, so we’re putting it to a vote!!
Crazy, Rich Cultivators: this prompt answer but also modern cultivators au. crazy rich asians. modern cultivators. identity porn. wei wuxian and lan wangji have been dating for a year. wei wuxian doesn’t know that his lan zhan is the lan wangji, huangang jun, he just thinks he’s dating one of the many lan cousins. lan wangji doesn’t know that wei wuxian was the ward of the jiang clan and who secretly helped coordinate the downfall of the wen ruohan with the current wen head, wen qing, or that his boyfriend is a freelancer that works as the infamous yiling patriarch. none of these things are a secret it just manages to not come up for ... a year. then lan wangji invites wei wuxian home to meet his family.
Rotten Work: post canon, wei wuxian angst and schmoop. wei wuxian isn’t suicidal the same way an alcoholic isn’t a drug addict. jin ling is a greedy only child and has no problem demanding to keep the things he wants, like his uncle to stay put and stop getting killed and maybe stop avoiding the love of his life. “Wei Wuxian winces under Jin Ling's horrified gaze. It's not that he wants to die, he feels the need to clarify. It's just that being alive is difficult and being dead is simple.” wei wuxian feels with jin ling, sizhui, and yunmeng bro reconciliation. also unexpected lan wangji and jin ling alliance/friendship as they have the common goal of Protect and Love Wei Wuxian with very different methods.
No Formerly Heroic Times: this prompt answer. wei wuxian doens’t want to start his own sect hidden in the burial mounds. but it’s pretty clear its the only way anyone is going to leave him alone, so it’s what he does. his siblings help. he thinks he and jin zixuan might even be friends. his clan flourishes, somehow, with the help of the jin and jiang, and it turns out the burial mounds can quickly be transformed into a livable place when you but fierce corpses to work and have stacks of materials being snuck in from lotus pier. wei wuxian thinks that lan wangji hates him, will hate the choices he’s made, and it’s not like he’s willing to risk his people by opening the burial mounds up to other people, so he stays on his mountain with his clan for sixteen years. then he gets an invitation to cultivation conference as sect leader wei from lan xichen, and well, he’ll never get a better reason than this.
which is your fave??

Thursday-Sunday NR, E, & M reading
The usual
Finished
Not Rated:
Jiangs are connected to the Lotus Pier, by nirejseki
Prompt: The Yunmeng Jiang clan is as much a part of Lotus Pier as Lotus Pier is to them. The connection can be strengthened using cultivation, but it is more a matter of blood than golden cores. When the Wens come to burn it down, Jiang Cheng tries to take as much of the damage onto his own body as he can in order to minimize the damage to the Pier and the people. Even during the war and rebuilding, JC never really lets go of the increased burden he took on. It (inevitably, eventually) takes its toll on him.
Bonus?: Jiang Yanli also feels the burning as though she is there with it, although to a lesser extent due to her core. She and JC might be the last ones left to share the connection to the Pier (until Jin Ling).
Explicit:
Stretched open, by lan_mattress_zhan
“But I'm saying,” He huffed, clearing his throat, “I want you to fuck me while you’re a dragon of course if you’re okay with that,” He took a shy glance at Lan Zhan, who reached out for Wei Ying’s cheek, caressing gently and leaned in for a chaste kiss. This was far too tender for what they were discussing currently. Far far too tender.
“I- am not opposed to it,” Lan Zhan said as he drew back, Wei Ying nodded and smirked, then-
“Great!"
Wei Ying wants Lan Zhan to fuck him in his dragon form, Lan Zhan is all too eager to obligate.
Mature:
unhappy stories with happy endings, by Last_for_Hell (4 chapters)
When a small village is cursed to see the memories of their loved ones, their call for help is answered by Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian. The junior quartet joins them in the hopes that they may help put an end to the village’s woes.
The curse looms heavily on, and soon, it will take hold of these six newcomers.

Rise of the Peacock, by JustAWanderingBabbit
Killed at Qiongqi Pass, Jin Zixuan wakes to find himself in an old and familiar scenario; the day he and Wei Wuxian fought in Gusu Lan. The day his betrothal to Jiang Yanli came to an end.
Unsure whether or not he's dreaming, Jin Zixuan decides to seize the chance and change the future. But for that he'll need help from his bastard brother, Meng Yao.
The Untamed: To Walk in One's Shoes, by YenGirl
It turns out that that old adage of 'To walk a mile in someone's shoes' proves to be the most effective way for three siblings to understand one another. Too bad there's a wedding involved.
Learn to cage your inner beast, by EuphoricSuds
If restraint means keeping you safe—then I will gladly tie down my wings.
Or, Wei Wuxian grows up in the Lan clan and things go slightly different from the canon.
Explicit:
Prequel: Fragments of a memory, by Cycliph
After the siege of Burial Mounds, Lan Wangji's life is being wasted away. His days are always same. Stuck in an insidious cycle of passivity, detached from the world. One day, on a gusty night, hail strong enough to crush skull was beating down. A helpless young man takes shelter in Jingshi.
you'll find my heart on the mountainside, by lulu_kitty
After parting ways with Lan Wangji on the mountain path, Wei Wuxian takes some time to consider what it is that he wants with this new second chance at life.
The answer finds him coming back to Lan Wangji, his zhiji, but after they reunite and set forth to embark on their new life together, an unexpected surprise awaits them on their journey home.
Or, a post-canon CQL/Untamed getting together story: accidental baby acquisition addition.
Mature:
When I'm Gone, by qiankun_pouch
"Protect them," he whispers hoarsely.
Wei Wuxian looks at Wen Qing next, his voice wavering as he remorses, "Qing-jie… You weren't supposed to see this."
She sobs. Please, no, Wei Wuxian. Please don't do this.
"Thank you. For everything," he continues.
There's a smile on his face, small and sad, and he speaks his final words.
"And I'm sorry."
Or, the one where Lan Wangji never goes to the Burial Mounds, and after some disturbing events, Wei Wuxian dies (TW: suicide). Everyone learns the truth and has to deal with the consequences.
(Story diverges after Wei Wuxian learns that there is trouble at the Burial Mounds.)
I whatever you, I will stand by your side, by Lizziewriter07
Wei WuXian almost died during Jin ZiXun's trap. He would have retaliated with all his might if it weren't for A-Yuan being terrified and right behind him and Wen Ning. Instead of killing Jin ZiXuan, he was hit by a fatal arrow in the heart while trying to protect the little boy. After disappearing from the cultivation world for five years he was... "invited" in a rather peculiar way to help two great clan leaders in a problem with their sworn brother.
Or,
Lan XiChen knew his younger brother like no one else. He knew him well enough to know that seeing Wei WuXian again after all those years of not knowing anything about the young master would make WangJi do something extreme. In order to be aware of what would happen and to help, ZeWu-jun proposes a sort of alliance with Wen Qing. Together, they come up with a well-crafted excuse to leave them alone for a while.
desolate, by celialoves_lwj
This is his plea to the heavens and those resentful dead creatures who clamber against him in greeting. To the wild wind, and howling resentment, to the caliginous maw of Luanzang Gang, he screams: “I will remain and make you regret this--you will not be rid of me!”
Wei Wuxian dies after being thrown into Luanzang Gang. It is not the end of his story.
Say my name and his in the same breath, by ataratah
Wei Wuxian is used to making a space for himself in places where he is not wanted. It should not surprise him that Cloud Recesses is the same, even if his soulmate is one of the twin jades.

DATING WEN NING
Tumblr media
Untamed/MDZS Scenarios
PLEASE BE WARNED THAT THERE ARE POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!
- I do not own any of these characters or the universe in which they are in -
A/N: Hey guys! This is my first scenario post here on Tumblr. I haven’t written any fanfiction or scenarios in like three years but with the lock down, I have found time and motivation to write! I really do not know how to use Tumblr but I am trying to learn haha. Please feel free to give me some requests! I am not sure if I need a box??? I shall figure it out lol. I hope you enjoy, there will be more to come soon!!!! The fluff fragments will be put up in pieces until they are fully written, and then I will post the full story. Really, my plan is to make small and cute little stories with the scenarios that can be connected later on. I also wanted to show my writing ability so that I might even get a few requests. I will be posting “Sea Sick,” a Lan Sizhui x Lan Jingyi short on 4/12/2020 and Lan Xichen Scenarios on 4/15/2020 as I had to push back the dates so I could focus on a paper that I am currently writing for one of my classes. I hope you enjoy this!
Love, Strawberry .
DATING WEN NING (Part 1) + Fluff Fragment
Tumblr media
-He thinks that you wouldn’t like him because he is so outspoken and truly, he believes that you have fallen for Young Master Jiang
-After a long pep talk from Young Master Wei, he finally musters up the courage to tell you about his feelings
-When you tell him that you feel the same, he becomes ecstatic and immediately embraces you in a hug
-Wen Ning is very protective of you and even though it makes him uncomfortable, he will stand up for you no matter who he has to fight off.
-He had sent you away when things started to look bleak for the Wen Clan, fearing that you would get hurt. Making you leave was the only way to ensure that he would not lose you entirely.
-You and Ning do not meet again until after the events that unfolded at Qiongqi Path.
-You had overheard members of the Lanling Jin Sect talking about the massacre that had happened in Qiongqi Path. Wei Wuxian had turned Wen Ning into a puppet and had slaughtered innocent cultivators from the Jin sect.
-Immediately you had rushed to the Burial Mounds, and there you found your beloved covered in talismans and under a deep coma.
-From the moment you went to his side, you almost never moved. Wen Qing made you rest and eat as well as you made her take care of herself. You felt as if your heart had been ripped out. Wen Ning was a good man. He did not deserve to meet such a cruel fate.
WEN NING DATING SCENARIOS TO BE CONTINUED...
FLUFF FRAGMENT #1
Wen Ning had never really hesitated when showing you physical affection during his life. However, after he died the man had lost a lot of his confidence. No one could love a corpse... He had skin that was almost grayish, pale and sickly looking. The dark black lines coming up from under his robe, caressing the skin of his neck. Then there was of course the largest reason that he was afraid to touch you. His skin was ice cold and his movements were still rather clumsy. He did not want to scare you away or cause you any pain. The puppet of a man had been avoiding you as he went about his business in the Burial Grounds. He missed you very much, but he was too afraid to confront you. Truly the man wanted nothing more than to scoop you up into his arms and tell you that he loved you and that he was sorry... Sorry for sending you away. Sorry for causing you any fear... and most of all. He was sorry that you had to grieve his death... There was so much that he wanted to apologize for... but the living corpse could not bring himself to say any of it. The man couldn't stop thinking about you but he wouldn’t dare to confront you, afraid that you would reject him. Instead, he observed you from a far. Currently he was watching you play with A-Yuan and Young Master Wei, hiding himself in the tall grass that surrounded their little home.

Rules: Tag 9 people who you want to know better/catch up with and then answer these questions.
Thanks for the tag @wellhalesbells!!
3 SHIPS
lan wangji and wei ying from the untamed.   i know, i know. this surprises absolutely none of you who have been drowning in my posts about them. it just literally hits on every single thing i love. it’s got a little friends to lovers while ALSO keeping the spice of rivals/enemies to lovers. it’s got SIXTEEN YEARS of yearning. it has the tragedy that is lan wangji head over heels for this dumb mess of a boy and not saying the right things and watching him tumble further and further down the rabbit hole that is revenge and then losing him forever. it has lan wangji in the present day steadfast and refusing to back down from wei ying’s side because he got him back. who gets that kind of chance? of course he’s not going to make the same mistakes he did the first time around. it has every single look shared between these two and wei ying’s sunshine smiles and fuck if i’m not a sucker for a good villain story. but like - this is even better than the usual villain origin story? because you get to watch every moment of wei ying’s stumble. you get him as a devoted brother and friend. you get him as the flirt - the boy who is trying so desperately to pull on lan wangji’s pigtails to get him to notice him. you get the wen chao fucking shit up and those first initial missteps as tragedy starts to seep into the story. you get lotus pier. you get jiang cheng and the golden core. you get the burial mounds. and then you get wei ying, harder and a little broken and impossibly powerful and let’s all be honest, really sexy because who’d have thought that all powerful necromancers bent on revenge are really something else? and you get to watch lan wangji realize the path his soulmate is on and desperate to stop it but so unsure how. and then it’s too late! except it’s not! and turns out it goes so far beyond that and then they’re basically married and have a kid together and wei ying, while yes being a powerful necromancer bent raised from the dead, is not actually the vilain in this fairytale? and just UGH. literally. i am so boned over this show. it is beautiful. and those characters might not have ever kissed but goddamn that was a better love story than any i’ve seen before.
ryan and shane from buzzfeed unsolved/watcher entertainment. this also probably doesn’t surprise many people. i’m usually fairly allergic to rpf, but this ship here was definitely the exception. there is SO MUCH chemistry between them and they’re just generally great to watch. i marathoned unsolved after reading a vampire!shane fic sometime last year (this one, for those curious) and was just goners. done-zo. dunzo? whatever, i was gone for them. and the fic was great too! there’s a lot of genre variation and AUs and spooky stuff and DEMON shane and i recently read one where ryan was one of the fae? and another one where shane was a kelpie? and i am HERE for creature feature aus. and then there’s the poly fics with ryan/shane/sara which also scratch a very particular itch and are hot and sweet and domestic and i just. i really like them. i love the dynamic. i love the fic. i love the art. i LOVE watcher entertainment and i hate that they’ve been screwed over by this pandemic and really hope they’re able to get over this hurdle because it is GOOD content.
xue yang and xiao xingchen and song lan from the untamed. this is at least partially cheating in my eyes because it’s from the same fandom but look at all the fucks i give. i give zero fucks. this ship. is. so. fucking. PROBLEMATIC. and i’m sorry, but i unrepentantly love it. xue yang is a complete monster child. he is the garbage gremlin that wei ying only wishes he was. he was a little tiny monster and gets every bit that is coming to him but the yi city arc FUCKED me up. and this is coming from the person who accidentally slept through xiao xingchen and song lan’s initial introduction. their story is just so perfectly tragic and on the off chance someone is reading this and thinking about watching, i won’t go into the details, but TRAGEDY. it is tragic. and i LIVE for modern AUs where they are living their slutty horrible lives to the best of their abilities. it is catnip to me. you know what else is catnip? modern AUs where they are living their slutty horrible lives with a super special side of reincarnation.
Not listed, but also important... every other ship in The Untamed. Also Wen Qing deserved better.
oh. and uh, i guess dean and castiel should at least be somewhere on this post because they’ve been on my mind so damn much.
LAST SONG I LISTENED TO
currently listening to beach life-in-death by car seat headrest because i read a fic at 4am and it made me listen to the entire album. no regrets except it is shockingly to my exes taste so she keeps popping into my head. last track i listened to was winter wheat by john samson. this one is on my playlist because it was in the comments of a tumblr post about soundtracks to bleed out into a field to.
CURRENTLY WATCHING
so. the thing about covid is that it really fucks with your attention span. like, it physically hurts me to look at a screen for long periods of time now, so i haven’t been watching a whole lot in general. also, we’re moving on friday so if i’m not napping or laying in bed thinking about napping i am dragging my sorry, tired body around the apartment stuffing things in boxes. it’s been a rough few months, guys.
i am really trying to think of the last thing i watched. i watched the eurovision song contest and over the moon around the same time right before my covid symptoms started forcing me to do nothing but sleep. and i think i watched over the garden wall sometime near the end of october?
oh, oh! i rewatched v for vendetta on november 5th. does that count?
tagging the usual suspects, but only if they want to do it. you know who you are. ;)

I’m curious about the time travel fics! If I have to choose, i guess I’ll go with version a lol
Alright, version a and version b are actually two completely different and wildly divergent fics that are currently in bullet point form.
In version a, wwx gets sent back to a random lesson at cloud recesses at the time of his novel death (torn apart by fierce corpses in the burial mounds siege 1)
In version b, Jiang cheng's dream sequence after the core transfer isn;t a dream: he actually traveled there.
snippets below the cut bc they are long-ish and also kinda sweary
reminder that these are both still in outline format. i have not gotten much further than that bc whumptober happened and i watched qing yu nian and got yan bingyun feels
vers. a snippet:
wwx (after explaining everything about from the yin iron search to him crawling out of the burial mounds): any questions so far?
Jiang Cheng: "you gave me your what!"
Wen Qing: Let me get this straight: I pretended to be Baoshan Sanren to do a previously theoretical core transfer on a random  mountaintop during the middle of a war for enemy combatants, without the consent of one of the patients.
JC: don't forget the two nights and a day he was awake for while you took it from him
WWX: "I was very persuasive."
WQ: "And then you got thrown into the burial mounds without a core. Because I took it from you."
wwx: that part wasn't intentional; it was all wen chao's fault
WQ: so you tore him apart
Wwx "he also burned down lotus pier, so…"
JFM: you didn't mention that part
WWX: that's cause he didn't burn it down until after I got JC out and i didn't know it was burned until i got back three months later
Everyone: you were in the burial mounds for three months! Was that not where you died?
Wwx: i mean, i did die in the burial mounds, but not the first time
Everyone: WHAT
wwx: Moving on. Then i helped win the war with resentful energy. No one knew that i didn’t have my core. And then after jin guangyao killed wrh
Everyone: whomst?
Wwx: sorry, he’s not jgy yet. Meng Yao
Everyone but nmj, lxc, and nhs: whomst?
Wwx: ah, whatever. He’s one of jgs bastards, and he was a spy during the war.
wwx: Anyway, after that, there was the phoenix mountain hunt, where i caught over a third of the prey with chenqing, then lan zhan called me his soulmate then shijie and the peacock walked by then the asshole jin came by and made me mad but then shijie tore him apart then madam jin came and told off the asshole cousin and the peacock, then the peacock blurted that he loves shijie and ran away
Wwx: hey peacock, don’t confess to her like that this time; she deserves a lot better
Jzx: what
Jyl: a’xian, be nice
Wwx: i am
Jc: he is
vers. b snippet:
God fuck okay. JC’s dream sequence, after the golden core transfer
He actually time-travelled there, instead of it turning into a nightmare with music thAT ISN’T IN THE SOUNDTRACK WTF UNTAMED WHERE IS THAT SONG I WANT TO LISTEN TO IT
And he could either be his 19-yr-old-ish, post-transfer self
Or his consciousness could be transplanted into his tiny nine? Ten? Year old body
Either way it’s prime angst and fix-it material
And idk, maybe he travelled there bc that’s when WWX formed his golden core fully instead of it just being like, spiritual energy inside of him, it’s now actually a little ball of light
For PRIME angst, WWX gets transferred too, bc it’s his core
Except he transfers right as he hits the ground in the burial mounds, bc that’s when JC wakes up
For EVEN MORE ANGST, anyone who has actively touched WWX’s core gets thrown back as well (ie WQ & WN)

Untamed Spring Fest 2020 Day 12: Rebirth
Posting daily a month late because I’m a slow writer!
read this one on AO3
read all currently finished prompts on AO3
Rebirth (WangXian, Post-Canon, MATURE FOR SEXUAL CONTENT, 642 words)
“Hey, Lan Zhan.”
“Mm.” Lan Wangji tilts his head down slightly to meet Wei Ying’s eyes from where he’s resting his head on Lan Wangji’s chest.
“What would you do if we were teenagers again?”
Lan Wangji waits.
“I mean, like we go back in time to when we first met but we know each other like we do now.”
He thinks about that rooftop meeting under the moon, how infuriating it felt at the time and how much he has glorified it over the years. “I would kiss you.”
“You would not!” Wei Ying laughs. “On the roof? Would you still take away my Emperor’s Smile?”
“It was inappropriate for you to drink as a disciple.”
“If you had kissed me on the roof, I probably wouldn’t have cared if you took them.” He shifts his body a little, so his legs are parted over Lan Wangji’s thigh, revealing that his interest in this hypothetical line of inquiry has a particular aim. “What else would you do?”
Lan Wangji turns to let Wei Ying slide underneath him, running a hand along his side and pressing a kiss to his jaw. “I would make love to you out in the meadow.”
“What else? What about in the Library Pavilion when you were supervising my punishment?”
“Yes.” He breaths into his neck and pushes his legs apart. Wei Ying’s body is already open and eager to receive him -- this is not the night’s first round.
Wei Ying gasps and archs up against him. “We could have spent hours fucking in the Library Pavillion, no one ever came in there to bother us.”
“You would have attracted attention.” Lan Wangji reminds him, and then, to prove his point, thrusts into him hard, in a way he has learned will force Wei Ying to cry out in shock and pleasure.
“Lan Zhan -- ah! -- It’s your fault I’m loud, if Hanguang-jun wasn’t such a peerless cultivation partner, maybe -- “ Lan Wangji kisses him into wordlessness and enjoys the little noises and grunts he makes instead. Images of the past start to fall away as he gives in to the glorious warmth of Wei Ying wrapped around him.
But Wei Ying hasn’t stopped with his fantasy, and when Lan Wangji moves away from his lips he says, “We could have just gotten married then, even, Shijie could have come and -- “
Lan Wangji stops moving, feeling the sudden weight of the possibilities. The lives they could save. The wasted years to regain. Wei Ying is looking at him helplessly.
“Wei Ying -- “
“Don’t stop.” He begs, wrapping his legs around Lan Wangji’s waist. “We would fix it. All of it.”
“Yes.” Lan Wangji starts moving again. He makes a point of kissing the scars on Wei Ying’s chest. “All of it.”
Wei Ying goes tense, and Lan Wangji sees a look of pain on his face that he hasn’t put there on purpose. “But what if… it’s later that we get to try again. The Xuanwu cave. The Sunshot -- don’t stop! -- the Sunshot Campaign. What if it’s… the Burial Mounds?”
“Yes.”
He feels Wei Ying start to relax again. “You’d come live with me in the Burial Mounds?”
“Yes.”
“And sleep in the Demon Subdue Palace? Near the blood pool?”
“Yes.”
“And… and… Lan Zhan… work in the fields, wear dirty robes, live -- “
“Yes.”
Wei Ying is shaking, moments from release, but he’s holding himself back. He needs -- “I need… if I still had to... Lan Zhan -- "
"Any time, any place -- I am yours, Wei Ying."
Wei Ying’s body goes pliant at last, fingers scrambling for purchase in Lan Wangji’s hair in anticipation of what’s to come. Lan Wangji sinks his teeth into his shoulder, the room fills with his cries and Wei Ying is over the edge, convulsing and gasping for breath, soon dragging Lan Wangji down with him.

The last week or so have been not-great brain times in a way that’s made it hard to watch anything, so I haven’t actually got further on the Untamed, but i did remember i had the rest of my up-to-ep-25 rambles sitting in my drafts, so. might as well actually post that before i watch more. have another bullet list.
everybody knows that directly after a major surgery is the best time to get captured by Wen Chao!
he could barely walk
not ok
it’s *throws glitter* trauma time! because we thought you didn’t have enough bad things happen to you! how would you like to win an all-expenses paid trip to the Burial Mounds! voices of the restless dead provided at no additional cost.
‘would you like revenge’ yes i would absolutely please give it to me. i love revenge.
look all the acting is generally excellent, but can i get a round of applause for wwx’s actor during the scene where he runs into lan wanji and jiang cheng again, like. ‘please engage with the thin layer of what i’m pretty sure my usual personality was, and not the 100% disassociating fragments of who i currently am behind it!’ the way he moves and holds himself is so different. it’s just incredible.
the way he rebuffs lan wanji - practically tells him to fuck off - because it’s obvious that lan wanji is Aware that something is not right, while Jiang Cheng is just so overjoyed to have him back that he’s willing to overlook pretty much anything atm. *waves hands furiously* it’s so painful and good.
maybe i should feel - bad? - about Wen Chao and evil girlfriend whose name i can never remember? how they died was pretty fucked up. on the other hand it was very, very satisfying, so.
actually the only death i’m mourning here is Wen Zhuliu. rip dude you were the one competent bitch they had to their name. i hope you’re finally getting to kick back and drink a soda in overly-qualified henchmen heaven.
wwx is just like :) ‘i’m different now’ :) ‘no i will not be answering questions as to why’ :)
valid
actually i’m still having fucked-up feelings about that one scene where Jiang Cheng confronts him about why he’s not wearing his sword anymore, and says something like ‘you used to love showing off your skills’
and Wei Wuxian says ‘i was young back then. who can stay a child forever?’
honestly this entire post just boils down to *appreciative but agonized screeching*
Yunmeng siblings reuniting <3 <3 <3
i was so worried about meng yao ever since he sadly stumbled off into the world like a beautiful broken butterfly and then didn’t show up again for ages, but he’s back, and he was a spy, and he’s dating lan xichen, and he got to stab discount fire lord ozai in the back and i’m so proud of him.
.......we have reached the Hat though
......................
anyway
.......so the whole situation with the Wen is pretty fucked up now, huh? perchance could somebody tell the Jin clan to stop murdering helpless adults and children? could everybody? could we collectively decide to do nothing further until this has been fucking addressed?
ok Lan Xichen tried.
Jiang Cheng slowly becoming aware that something Not Great and in fact maybe Downright Confusing and Upsetting is going on with WWX: maybe if i....... scold him....again?....it will help this time? why is it not working? :( maybe if i raise my voice more?
look the Lotus Pier kids have been through so fucking much but they’re trying and they’re working so hard at being there for each other and it’s just not fair that i know something is gonna happen to make everything Worse again.
also, i just. have so many feelings about LWJ obsessively studying musical scores to try and help WWX, so much of how love is shown in this show is about action, and giving people things, devoting your time or skills to them. it’s good.
there was so much drama on that hunting contest, honestly. i don’t think affairs like this are even really about hunting ghosts, they’re just about getting to flirt in the woods and pick fights with people you don’t like.
jiang yanli defending wwx! her and lan wanji both actively being there to help him when he’s struggling with losing control! sometimes this show makes me cry because Bad things, but sometimes because something good is actually happening.
........look. if jiang yanli really really wants to marry jin zixuan then by god she is going to get to do that, even if he is a manatee. but like. why? he’s still annoying. and he makes her cry all the time like an asshole and doesn’t even apologize. he’d better shape up if they actually get engaged again. if he makes her cry one more time i’m gonna reach through the screen and punch him in the face.
....i appreciate WWX because he’s the only one who makes as many faces as i do when jin zixuan talks.
jin guangyao’s entire life is having to smile and say polite and appropriate things and make excuses while people shout at him, and as somebody who works in retail can i just say that i feel that in my soul.

1. Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it? 20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?) and 23. What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest? — Have a lovely weekend. : )
1. I have a couple of projects I’m currently working on.  I have two projects coming for the @aftgbigbang.  First of all, I’m doing some fiber art for @autumnalpalmetto.  Not going to say too much about that except it’s very cute and I’m having a lot of fun with it.  I’ve made most of the pieces now and I just need to photograph it. For my written big bang, I’m working on the larger worldbuilding for the scent of embers in the air. It’s got dragons and arranged marriage and magic.  I’m at about 22k words but I’m not sure how much longer it is going to be.  I’ve also branched out a bit into the Untamed and I’ve started my installment for the big bang.  I’m only just over a thousand words in so I’ve got a long way to go.  It’s going to be a canon divergent fic loosely based on Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  I’m also in the middle of a new series for The Untamed called Bound by Ribbon and Fate. It started out as a gift for @edgarallanrose and it just snowballed from there.  I’ve written about 6k and posted two parts.  I have at least another two parts planned and here is a song on my playlist for the next part.
20. Okay, while I know you follow me for my aftg stuff, I am just so proud of my latest Untamed fic, A Path to Revenge. I don’t think anyone has noticed this, or at least they haven’t mentioned it in their comments, but I don’t refer to Wei Wuxian by name in the narration until after he leaves the Burial Mounds.  The voices speaking to him use his name.  He hears Lan Wangji saying Wei Ying whenever he is holding or looking at the forehead ribbon, and he hears the voices of the dead calling him Wei Wuxian when the ribbon is covered or hidden.  And I did this to show that in the Burial Mounds, he is in a liminal space where he has two paths he can choose to follow.  He can be Wei Wuxian and choose the path to revenge that the voices of the dead have promised him or he can be Wei Ying and allow Lan Wangji to help him stay on the path of righteousness.  Then he leaves and chooses the path to revenge and the narration refers to him as Wei Wuxian.  You have no idea, I was practically chortling as I came up with this and thought myself very clever but I have no idea if it came through at all.
I will also give you a little bit for aftg.  I think the most surprising thing for me about researching for this fandom is how much time I’ve spent looking up hiking trails.  Two Bros Five Feet Apart, Chocolate Kisses and Always, and Be My Family all involved a significant amount of time looking up the trails and times and looking for photos of each section so I could decide how best to make it authentic.  And like, it’s not like anyone is going to know if I make it up, but I didn’t want to.
23. The idea I’ve had in my head for the longest is actually a fic for BBC Merlin.  It would take place after season 5 and it would be a little more compliant with actual Arthurian lore. The premise would be that Arthur survived his wound because of Merlin’s magic but the wound would never completely heal.  So the fic would go through all the different ways Merlin tries to heal this wound.  Some of it would be very funny and sweet.  Some of Merlin’s attempts would have strange side effects, such as accidentally dying Arthur purple.  There would also be a strong undercurrent of angst between Arthur’s frustration at no longer being able to do everything he had done before and Merlin’s sorrow and worry for his best friend as he watches him deal with weakness.  I also planned to have lots of friendship scenes with Gwen where they bond over taking care of Arthur.  Plus, Gwen was definitely going to have a baby who would toddle around after Merlin the moment they learned to walk and get into mischief.  I may yet write it but I usually have so many more urgent WIPs that this one takes a backburner.
Thank you so much for asking! I hope you also have a lovely weekend!
More fun meta asks for writers!
