One of the funniest/dumbest literal thinking autism moments of my childhood happened when I was in 2nd grade. I was going to a new school so I was made to do a bunch of assessments to see where I placed in different subjects. I was most excited for the reading one cuz at my old school I was the best reader in my class, and I wanted to show off.

The lady testing me hands me this little short story and asks me to read it aloud.

And for some reason that I still don't understand to this day, a bunch of the words randomly had like lines or dots above the vowels. Which idk seems like an unnecessary and confusing thing to include when testing a 7 year old. Like you're gaslighting them into thinking theres extra letters in the alphabet. So obvi I ask what the symbols mean cuz I've never seen them in this context. She sorta brushes me off and says, word for word, "those mean you just say the letters name"

What she undoubtedly meant was: "on those words, the letter highlighted will sound like what its called. O with the line sounds O and not uh or ew or whatever"

What I understood was "Just Say the Letters Name"

So anyways i proceeded to read the story aloud, stopping suddenly every other word to pause cuz I wasnt supposed to say bow i was supposed to say o. I know for a fact at one point I just said a word and then stopped and repeated the sentence with just the letter so she HAD to've known I'd misunderstood her. But she said absolutely nothing. I remember walking outta there feeling like a complete idiot, and feeling so embarrassed when later they told my mom my reading skills were an entire grade behind where I should've been. But also looking back at it like wtf how could theyve possibly gotten an accurate understanding of my reading ability under those conditions.

me and @hsavinien pulled together our Owl House cosplays. Wearing dresses gives my fat, butch ass hives, so instead I did the ten-seconds-on-screen latest fashions from the human realm gag.

I didn't sew anything but the skirt and I guess technically sewing the two wigs together (HEAVY, BTW. And yeah we just FOUND those pants!), but I'm DEEPLY proud of how the props came out, particularly the violin for @hsavinien's Raine cosplay.

it was a real, cheap/busted violin. Cut the head off, crafted a palisman shaped head out of cedar. Sav wanted glowy light up strings so I figured out how to string it up by crafting a tail piece that could hold the strings and hide the battery box hole, and suggesting Sav design a simple 3D printed peice to route the LED strand thru since she has printer access. Which she did an amazing job of, and she did the painted embellishments.

Also fairly proud of how Owlbert came out. I love making props out of the actual materials, so instead of 3d printing it or whatever I carved him out of basswood with a Dremel. Which I've never done before.

I was frustrated with the stain job at first, but after some fiddly buffing realized he has a antiqued, lived-in look that seems perfect for a palisman of a wild witch that was carved when she was a teenager. He's also removable so he can be displayed a little easier.

We also handed these out, and some people got misty about it, which was fun.

Felt good to cosplay and art this way after not doing it since like... 2017. Must do again sooner.

Miquella knowing how to compel affection doesn't equate to master manipulator, at least not here. To weild love is to be open with your care for others. And he weilds it to cleanse and absolve people of their sins. I think the line in the Bewitching Branch description is more akin to Miquella understanding how immensely powerful kindness is when one lives in a cruel world, rather than "oo I'm a demigod who can manipulate everyone to love me mwah hahaha."

His home is full of misfits and outcasts and I see him as being genuinely proud of the community he's built. It makes the tragedy of his kidnapping all the more painful. Perhaps in the past Miquella showed Mohg care and Mohg took that and ran all the way to insanity with it, convinced Miquella loved him romantically even tho Miq shows care for all life.

God I'm ranting about this but it makes me so upset when people talk about Miquella as if he's this evil 4D chess player who wanted to be kidnapped and abused by a blood obsessed megalomaniac

MAYBE im reading into it way too much bc i have terminal haikaveh brain. maybe. BUT!!!! art is subjective i can do what i want :^) anyway i think a lot about this part because TO ME it sounds like kaveh keeps assuming the worst from alhaitham - makes sense, they argue all the time and they def have a turbulent relationship. HOWEVER!!!!! while alhaitham does like poking fun at kaveh and gets annoyed with him dskjfdsklf i FEEL LIKE theres an implication that he like, does not enjoy seeing kaveh suffer the way kaveh just assumes he does.

I JUST FIND IT REALLY INTERESTING that alhaitham is like, "mind your business and ill mind my business what ever bye" but when it comes to kaveh hes like. no actually i have to debate you. the way you feel isnt wrong however your actions make your life really hard for yourself and you could be living better if you changed" like he cannot stay in his lane when kaveh is involved!!!!! and like the whole reason he's even IN the parade of providence event at all was bc he was pursuing a thread of research that he figured out was connected to kavehs dad and his disappearance!!! mister "i dont want to get involved if it doesnt disrupt my life" got involved to give his boy some closure on the haunting of his dead father!!!!!!!!!!
