Kinda obsessed with the difference between Martin's perspective during the apocalypse and Jon’s.

It's the difference between "I know you might hate me right now" and "I love you, I always will, and I know you love me"

It's the difference between Jon not being able to trust anyone, not even himself, but never for a second doubting that Martin loves him and Martin never being sure Jon’s feelings for him won't change.

It's the difference between Jon not always being loved perfectly and Martin having never been loved before.

It's Jon spending the entire apocalypse telling every monster they come across that Martin is his boyfriend, have you met Martin, this is his boyfriend Martin, his anchor, his last tie to humanity, his reason to still be hoping for a better ending. It's Martin telling his Lonely-self that if it comes down to it he'll ask Jon to destroy him and not being sure whether Jon will say no.

Even the jealousy, which is slightly played for laughs, still comes down to Jon being like "aw my boyfriend's getting all possessive 🥰" whereas deep down Martin has never let go of the idea that under different circumstances Jon could do better.

They're more emotionally open with each other during the apocalypse than they are for the years leading up to it, and they still don't stop misunderstanding each other.

-in season 5 it always looks like hes widening his eyes as much as he can but theyre just like that naturally

-hes read the entire bible front to back

-hes really good at tetris

-unpopular opinion here but i think hed quite like christmas?? not like playing christmas music early november or anything but i think hed enjoy the holiday season and decorating and stuff… seasonal drinks and such… would pretend to hate it though

-his hair was slightly curlier after so many run ins with the distortion; it almost looks like a few strands are floating sometimes

-when he was young hed just recite multiplication tables until hed fall asleep

-in season 4 most of his clothes were stolen from lost and found, including an old cardigan of martins

-his eye powers make his hair grow out when he uses them, so in season 5 he kept scissors on them and cut his hair whenever he smote avatars. it always looked SUPER choppy

-never did his homework at home, always during lunch or other class periods. if he didnt it just wouldnt get done

-he does most of his emoting with his eyebrows

-keeps his old glasses in the same drawer as his rib and janes ashes

-absolutely hates having dirty nails, especially after the buried. keeps them short for that reason

-his #1 song on spotify wrapped every year without fail is some kind of white noise, he hates complete silence

So I’ve been thinking non stop abt the Somewhere Else is the Life Series AU and I’ve legit started planning out a fic

I decided to have them in Double Life as soulmates, but with the twist that they (along with all the other DL players) have no memories from outside of the game

Of course, Jon’s connection to the Eye means he does Know things that he shouldn’t, but it’s being restricted by the Watchers, who are very curious about the last minute additions to their game.

Both Jon and Martin Know they’re out of place somehow, that they have something Important that they need to do, someone Important they need to find, but are both too scared of potential consequences to bring it up to anyone, so they both settle for teaming up with different groups and hope the others don’t realize something is wrong.

(A certain avian already has, but he’s not about to tip his hand quite so soon…)

I know I want one of them to team up with Martyn for shits and giggles, tho I’m not sure which.

Plenty of confusion and angst potential if it’s Jon (only calling him Littlewood because referring to him as Martyn somehow feels wrong, making an offhand joke or reference and feeling weirdly upset when Littlewood doesn’t Get It, always having someone by his side yet always feeling strangely Lonely)

but also I love the idea of a Martin and Martyn power duo (LittleBlackwood (as Scar so kindly dubbed them) are strangely effective at setting traps and causing chaos, and people were quick to associate an incoming blanket of fog with the troublesome pair)

I’ll have to rewatch DL before I make any concrete decisions, but the Thought Machine is going
