Summary: (college) Aaron and Y/N at a halloween party where someone gets a little drunk. Still a little conflicted angsty. Don't need to have read the other stuff leading up to this but it helps!
Word Count: 3k
AN: Guys, why do things keep happening to me? I sprained my ankle so bad running after this exchange student I met like, two nights ago, and he just laughed! SMH. Forgive me for how terribly this may read near the end- I'm just trying to get something out. I'll edit it later (maybe) (probably not) (oopsies!)
It had been about half a year of you and Aaron studying tirelessly in the library, but it wasn’t for nothing. Both of you were getting the highest scores on the exams in class and had, by the grace of god, made it onto the Dean’s list last year. It left both of you more determined than ever, but also more inseparable than ever. At this point you were both either at the library, class, or at each other’s place, much to the dismay of your roommates who would like some peace and quiet some nights. Luckily for them, this was one of the nights you were both out of the house, as it was Halloween. Well, the Friday before Halloween. Nobody really wanted to party on a Monday night.
Aaron and you had fought about matching costumes for a while because you refused to dress as Sandra from Grease because you thought she was such a pushover and gave up all her morals for Danny, even thought it would’ve made for a really good costume. He eventually gave up and just admitted he wanted to wear his leather jacket and didn’t care what you dressed as.
Well that is until you met him at his house in a matching leather jacket. He shut the door on your face before you could open your mouth.
“We are NOT showing up to a costume party MATCHING,” he shouted from the other side of the door.
“Aaron you said you wanted to match though!” you shouted back, trying to hide back your laughs.
“You know what I meant Y/N and it wasn’t this!”.
“Oh come on you kill joy everyone is going to be so jealous of how cute we look!” you laughed as you shoved your fists in your pockets, thinking you looked damn good. You heard him shuffle around on the other side of the door before finally opening it with a dramatic sigh and eye roll.
“You kill me,” he sighed as he started down the porch, letting you catch up to him. You smiled as you stepped into pace besides him. You were heading to one of his friend’s party’s for the night. Aaron insisted it would be fun, but he’d brought it up enough you were getting a little suspicious. Aaron started talking about his roommates' failed cooking attempts as you lit a cigarette between your lips.
“You’re smoking?” he asked, stopping his story and turning to you as you puffed out a cloud of smoke. You turned away trying to hide it from him.
“So what? You worried about me?” you hummed, trying to diffuse his anger as you ashed the cigarette end. He rolled his eyes and focused back onto the sidewalk.
“That’s bad for you y’know?” he stated matter-of-factly.
“I do know Aaron,” you responded in the same tone as you tapped his shoulder with your free hand. He always hated when you started smoking. It was a cycle you’d gotten yourself into at the beginning of this year starting every few weeks and then quitting whenever Aaron would start stealing and hiding your packs. You smushed your cigarette into the ground once you were finished right outside the house. Aaron had put on some sunglasses to add to his costume which you giggled at.
“Stop it, you know I look good,” he said as he threw his arm around your shoulders lazily leaning onto you as you both stood in front of the door. You laughed more and patted his chest as you snaked an arm behind his waist to steady him. His friend whips open the door and the noise of the party booms onto the porch.
“Aaron! Y/N!” he shouted, the scent of alcohol already emanating off of him, “you made it!”. Aaron hugged his friend and started talking as you nodded your hello and slipped into the thumping house, letting the two catch up. It was already packed somehow even though it had just begun, that’s what they’d get for inviting a bunch of nerds. There were several black cats of varying authenticity, a few Gene Simmon’s look-alikes, a smattering of half-assed Jedi, and a fair amount of suspect Spidermen and other superheros. You smiled peacefully to yourself, despite the chaos around you, taking in the moment and what all led to you even getting invited to such an event. You slipped a hand into the cooler to grab a beer and cracked it open to start sipping on it as you watched the crowd. You’d always been a bit of a wallflower, while Aaron was the chatty one. Sure enough, he was still chatting with his friend, just as energetic as he was before. Your old lab partner Jen spotted you at the party and danced her way through the crowed until she was by you.
“Ohmygod Y/N, so great to see you!” she shouted over the speaker. You stifle a smile seeing how out of it she was.
“Jen, how are you?” you asked, trying to be sincere, swishing your drink. She nodded enthusiastically.
“I’m so great Y/N. Who do you know here?!” she said back.
“Uhm, I’m here with Aaron,” you admitted bashfully. Sure enough Jen responded with raised eyebrows and a shoulder nudge.
“You guys are still talking? That’s going gooood?” she said, leaning closer and waggling her eyebrows. You playfully scoffed and pushed her away.
“You know it’s not like that Jen, we’re just…friends,” you said, glancing behind  her at Aaron still gesticulating a story to his friend. She moved her head to block your view.
“Sure and is that why you guys are wearing matching costumes?” she accused. You rolled your eyes and sipped the beer.
“It wasn’t on purpose,” you said under your breath.
“You’re blushing!” Jen giggled obnoxiously as she shook you by the shoulders, to which you swatted her away and tried to shush her even though he was across the room. She aww-ed at your shyness and eventually calmed down. “Okay okay, but still-” she said, “you two are cute together,”.
“Thanks,” you mutter under your breath, looking around the room for Aaron again only to see he had finally moved away from his friend. Where did he go?
“Hello Jen,” he suddenly chirped, appearing besides you, double fisting two red Solo cups. “Ah cheers,” he said quickly clinking his cups to your beer.
“Hello Aaron!” she smiles back with a toothy grin, “Ugh you two look so good,” she said looking at both of you. Aaron smiled and looked down at his own outfit before looking at you and nodding, confirming her compliment.
“Thank you Jen, you look good too,” he said back, eyes glancing over her and her fairy costume.
“You’re too sweet Aaron,” she said, “Okay okay okay I’ll leave you two alone, say bye before you leave!!!” she said in an airy tone grabbing both of your forearms before wandering back into the crowd. Aaron silently took a sip of one of his drinks and smacked his lips before looking back down at you.
“She’s- something!” he remarked. You nodded and matched him with your own sip.
“She’s nice, just a bit of a party animal,” you agreed, “like someone else I know” you chuckled, elbowing Aaron.
“Pfft as if, I just like talking to people. Unlike soooome,” he retorted, elbowing you back.
“Let me catch up to you then I’ll get social” you jokingly grumbled, taking another sip. He snorted.
The party continued and Aaron and you split again. Sure enough, you do warm up to chat with your classmates and friends as you keep another beer in hand. You feel a buzz starting as you laugh loudly at someone’s joke as you attempt to land a ping pong ball into a solo cup across the table. You miss and loudly shout ‘SHIT!’, only to quickly feel a body pressed against your back, a hand holding onto your hip.
“Let me try for a redemption shot,” Aaron laughed, reverberating in your ear as someone hands him a ping pong ball. He completely misses and you both burst out laughing, and you take the opportunity to lean back on his chest, only to have his grip tighten on your hip. “I didn’t say I was going to be good,” he defended himself as you watched the opposing team try to make their shots. You reach behind yourself and pat his cheek.
“Sure you are,” you tease back, feeling his warm cheek under your hand before you go to grab another fumbled ball. It’s crazy how bad hand eye coordination gets when you’re drunk. You weren’t complaining though. Having Aaron this close was…nice, but you would never really admit it. The game continues and you two end up losing, but just barely. Aaron happily finishes the drinks as you insist you can’t handle any more, mostly because you’ve seen how long it’d been sitting out. Aaron’s fraternity brother tendencies came out whenever he was trying to impress people with these games.
You expect him to step away once the game is done, but instead he stays right where he is, moving his arms up they’re wrapped around your shoulders, keeping you close. He sets his head on your shoulder blade and sighs.
“You alright?” you ask, tilting your head to look at him. You felt him nod onto your shoulder.
“I’m doing just swell Y/N,” he says, knowing he doesn’t need to shout, which makes a chill run up your spine. He tightens his grip for a second before changing his mind, “can we go to the couch actually,” he mumbles to you. You obliged and started to weave your way through the partygoers back to the living room where you know there’s a few couches. Aaron doesn’t let go, despite stumbling a few times into your back. You throw some coats left on a couch onto the arms of it and sit down, Aaron finally releasing his hold. He flops down, laying his head on your lap, leaving his legs dangling off the end of the couch. He grumbles and groans as he throws his sunglasses off into the void of people dancing. “Y/N…I’m getting the spins,” he groans as he rubs the heels of his hands into his eyes. Oh shit, Aaron’s actually drunk.
You can’t help but gently place a hand on his hair and run your fingers through it.
“Poor Aaron drank too much?” you asked in a sing songy voice.
“Don’t baby talk me,” he whined as he lowered his hands and kept his eyes firmly shut, “can’t you just make me feel better,”.
“What would make you feel better?” you ask, raising your eyebrows to yourself. His eyes flashed open and he opened his mouth to say something, but instead of words he shoots up and promptly throws up over the side of the couch onto the ground. Yeah, good thing you didn’t drink that shit.
You make him lay down on the couch as you tie up your hair and start trying to clean up the mess. Aaron’s friend finds you trying and grabs your attention.
“Y/N, yeah? Don’t worry about it-” he said, not seeming stressed, “I got this if you just uh, promise to get him home,” he said, tilting his chin in the direction of the still groaning Aaron. You nodded dutifully, you would much rather take this deal. After a few minutes of convincing you’re able to coax Aaron to his feet, leading him out before he can throw up on the floor again.
He does throw up again in the lawn and you try to pat his back to make him feel better, although you’ve never really seen him get sick from drinking so you’re not sure if you’re helping or harming. The two of you are able to make it back to his house, in only twice the normal time due to his drunken ramblings requiring perfect stillness in the middle of the street.
“Y/N, you know I love you right?” he says bluntly the moment you pull the key to his house out of his jacket pocket. You froze. You know he doesn’t mean it like that, unless he does. You can’t really trust him with how half-shut his eyes are right now.
“I uh, love you too Aaron,” you say, forcing a bit of a smile into the corner of your mouth as you open the door to the dark house. Dammit, he’s not shuffling back into his room without a tumble or waking up the whole house. “We’re getting you to bed okay?” you say to him, as you hold an arm around his waist to steady him.
“Can you spend the night? I love you,” he said through his mumbles as the two of you stepped into the house. He leans his head down so he’s just speaking into your hair.
“Aaron I don’t know I-” you try to interject.
“But I love youuuu and you never spend the night,” he whines like a teenager as you kicked open the bottom of his door to try and avoid a clatter. You sigh as you navigate him to his bed and let him fall onto it.
“Take off your shoes ya drunk,” you say as you cross your arms and flick on the lights. He hisses at the bright lights, but does kick off his boots before trying to get under the blankets. He eventually opens his eyes again and looks at you.
“Please spend the night Y/N,” he says softly, opening the blankets, “I just want you here,”. You’d spent the night before with him, but usually just on the couch after falling asleep on his shoulder during a movie. Did he actually mean this? Or was he just that drunk? “Please?”.
You can’t say no to this guy’s face. You sighed  and kicked off your own shoes and hit the lights before crawling into the area under the blanket. You can hear Aaron trying to form a sentence but he just mumbles words as he pulls you closer by the small of your back. You give in and rest your head on his chest, hearing just how fast his heart is beating, glad it isn’t just your own.
“Y/N?” he finally gets out, breaking the silence of just the two of your breaths.
“Yes Aaron?”
“Don’t leave me,”.
“I won’t,”.
You feel him slowly rubbing your back before eventually falling into a loud snore. He’s lucky he was handsome, otherwise you’d be smothering him with a pillow. Eventually you’re able to fall asleep into the darkness, trying to not overthink things.
You wake up to sunlight hitting you directly in the eyes through the window across the room. You groaned and turned to try and hide your face, remembering at the same time you were in a bed that was not your own. You groaned as you realize Aaron isn’t in bed anymore with you. Shit. You sit up in the bed, rubbing your head groggily. As if on command, Aaron swings the door open with two cups of coffee. His face brightens as he sees you’re awake.
“Good morning Y/N,” he says, his morning voice making your stomach do a flip. Well, either that or the residual alcohol.
“How are you feeling?” you ask him, as you gratefully take the cup.
“Not the best, I can’t lie,” he admits as he sits at the foot of the bed. You wished he’d just come back under the covers though, “I don’t really remember coming back home,” he says as he takes a sip of the coffee.
“Do you remember any of last night?” you asked. He shrugs, still facing the door.
“I remember doing really bad at beer pong with you,” he offered, rubbing the back of his head, “was I embarrassing? Oh Christ what did I say-”.
“Nothing! You just threw up on the floor, and then I uh- took you home,” you nodded, agreeing to yourself on this story.
“Mmm,” he hummed, before silence took over the room again. He didn’t ask what you were doing in his bed. He didn’t admit that he did remember some of the drunken haze. It wasn’t lying that he didn’t remember the walk home- he really didn’t- but he did remember you unlocking the door. And he vaguely remembered admitting he loved you.
For now though, the silence was welcome. The two of you sipped your coffee.
“We didn’t fuck right?” he asked, only to be met with a pillow to the cheek.

.
Empty.
That’s how you felt. Empty and utterly exhausted. Your eyes were dried and throat scratchy from all the crying, body aching with pain and mind a foggy haze. Forty eight hours it had been since you received the news of the car crash.
James Rhodes. Your husband. Dead.
Pepper Potts. Your best friend. Dead.
You received a call from the hospital while you were wrapping James’ birthday present. A birthday that never arrived. Instead a funeral did. Two consecutive ones. You hadn’t felt grief like this ever.
The service ended, you shook hands and hugged countless people, nodding along as they offered condolences, wanting nothing more than to head home, crash in your bed and never wake up. But you couldn’t. There was another funeral you had to attend, your best friend Pepper’s, you didn’t know if you could go through it all again.
But you had to.
A couple of moments later, you managed to slip away and found yourself sitting on a bench overlooking the graves. The day was actually sunny and bright, wildflowers littered along the gravestones as a gentle breeze blew. What a day for a funeral, you thought sadly.
Not long after you sat, you smelled cigarette smoke in the air before Tony Stark took a seat next to you. Tony was one of your closest family friends, well, he was your husband’s best friend. They practically grew up together, went to school, university and eventually ended up buying houses close to each other too. By way of default, when Pepper and him got married, it brought the four of you closer. She was your best friend and James was his.
It was perfect.
Your mind went back to the last dinner the four of you had at your place, it was only three days ago. Just a day before the accident.
“Here’s to celebrating milestones in friendships!”
James raised his whiskey glass, making you, Tony and Pepper follow suit before you clinked them together with warm smiles. You had cooked a nice dinner to celebrate a year of moving into this home you shared with your loving husband. It may as well have been just an excuse to get together with your friends, which happened too often.
“Thank you for dinner, Y/N. It was delicious. And the blueberry pie too! It is Tony’s favorite.” Pepper announced, making you smile at her husband who returned it, albeit reluctantly. There was something about the way he looked at you, it made you nervous, not in a bad way, per se. It was like he could stare into soul.
“It’s Y/N’s favorite as well.” James chimed in, leaning in to kiss your cheek.
While you cleaned up in the kitchen, Pepper coaxed James to let her take the new SUV out for a spin. She had been trying to persuade Tony to get the same model but apparently he wasn’t too keen on letting his Audi R8 go.
“You think I could sneak in an extra piece of pie?” Tony’s voice took you by surprise as he entered the kitchen.
“Oh! I thought you went along with James and Pep?”
“I mean it was either a piece of pie or Pepper yapping my ear off about how my R8 isn’t exactly ‘fit to be a family car’.” he shrugged, making you chuckle as you took out the remaining pie from the fridge and cut him another slice.
You were suddenly aware of your heartbeat as Tony leaned over to grab the plate from you, the close proximity unfamiliarly welcoming. His fingers grazed over yours ever so lightly, leaving their presence to linger.
What was even going on?
Tony was a good-looking man, there wasn’t a question. He had a handsome face with an impeccably maintained beard that only seemed to suit him best. And his eyes. A light brew of your favorite coffee, the brown doe eyes held as much kindness as they held self assurance. Deep down, you felt an attraction towards the man. It was harmless, wasn’t it?
Only time would tell.
“Y/N?” Tony’s fingers snapped you back to reality, making you realize he had asked you a question.
“Yeah?”
“You went into one of your zones again, didn’t you?” He smiled, taking a bite of the pie and letting out a moan of delight.
“Sorry. One of my zones?”
“Yeah. Your mind tends to wander off when the conversation isn’t interesting for you. I’ve observed.” He wasn’t wrong. The fact that he noticed and pointed it out made your cheeks flush.
“Sorry about that. It’s nothing really. I was just thinking about the time we first got together. I—I mean the four of us.”
“Right. It was a long time ago, wasn’t it?”
“It was at one of your famous parties. I walked in looking to have a good time, you and I had one too many whiskies and the next thing I know Pepper dragged you back to your house and James ended up dropping me home. And the rest is history.”
“The rest is history.” Tony repeated with a small chuckle as memories of that evening played out in his head.
“Sometimes I wonder if…um. Nevermind.” He shrugged, cutting his sentence short leaving you to frown.
“If what? Go on.”
You saw him take in a deep breath, release it slowly before facing you fully after he kept the plate away.
“I wonder if the whole opposites attract thing truly worked out for us. Or we just settled because it was obvious.”
Tony’s words stuck with you long after that night was over. As did the look he gave you. It had longing and hints of regret. Something that reflected in your eyes as well.
You must’ve been crying again because Tony reached out to wipe tears that had escaped, offering you a cigarette which you accepted, filling your lungs with smoke and closing your eyes.
“You know, I spent half of yesterday just staring at my bottle of sleeping pills, wondering if it would hurt less if I just took them.” you murmured, staring into the distance. The void inside your chest seemed perpetual and only growing, there was no relief, no end to this pain.
Tony remained silent, he probably had the same thoughts running through his mind. But you couldn’t tell. He slid closer, placing his arm over the backrest of the bench.
“I need to speak to you about the accident, Y/N. I found out some things that you have the right to know too.” his brown eyes bore into yours, letting you know the urgency in his voice.
“Tell me now.” Shaking his head, Tony stubbed his cigarette and got up.
“Tomorrow. Come home and we’ll talk.”
“But it’s Pepper’s funeral–”
“I couldn’t care less. Trust me. Tomorrow.”
You were taken aback, watching him walk towards his car before driving off while you sat on the bench, a mess of complex emotions.
.
Your right foot was bouncing against the sofa as you waited for Tony, his house felt oddly quiet and dark now that Pepper was no longer around. Safe to say your own home wasn’t exactly in the best condition either. You couldn’t remember the last time you cleaned, or had a proper meal.
He returned with a familiar looking overnight bag, some papers and a phone. As he laid them out in front of you, a pit began forming in your stomach. This couldn’t be what you were thinking it could be. It couldn’t.
“This is what they recovered from the accident. The bag was in the trunk, the phone was found a few feet away and this.”
He handed you the papers first, it looked like a confirmation of a hotel booking, a hotel located just on the outskirts of the town. It was booked under James Rhodes. Why would he check into a hotel when he was supposed to be out of town for a conference?
“I don’t understand..” you trailed off, not really wanting to know the details but Tony handed you the phone next. What you read, broke your heart into a million pieces. The doubts that you tried to push down resurfaced and had materialized right in front of your eyes.
They were chats. Chats between Pepper and James. Your husband and Tony’s wife.
Your eyes burned but no tears came, you felt betrayed, hurt and angry like you hadn’t ever. It was months and months of private conversations between them, you hadn’t even noticed Pepper’s name saved with a heart emoji on James’s phone, right below was your last message to him, checking up on him to see if he reached safely.
You turned to look at Tony who sat with his arms crossed, jaw ticking and hands balled up against his sides. He let out a humorless chuckle, shaking his head before getting up to stand in front of the window that overlooked their huge backyard.
“Why didn’t–um, why didn’t the cops bring this to me?” you found your voice again but barely recognized it. It was hoarse from lack of use and weak, fearful of what you’d hear next.
“I asked them not to,” he replied quietly.
“Why?”
“Why? Seriously? You think you would’ve handled it well, Y/N? Given the things you said to me, I would be arranging for a third funeral right about now!” Tony didn’t mean to tell, but he did, because he shared your hurt and pain. He immediately regretted it watching you crumble on the floor, clutching the phone to your chest as you sobbed.
Dropping on his knees, he gathered you in his arms and let you cry, your tears soaked his shirt as you wept, body racking in pain while he held you. Your breath was still uneven but your tears eventually subsided, leaving behind a million questions.
“It had been going on for longer than a year, Y/N.” as if reading your mind, Tony mumbled, his voice muffled against your hair.
“I don’t want to believe it, Tony.”
He hugged you tighter, providing you the comfort you needed, wanted even, his presence grounded you, his scent calmed you.
“You’re staying here.” he declared once you separated, wiping tears from your cheeks and making you look up at him.
“I–I can’t.”
“Yes, you can. And you’re going to. You’re hurting, Y/N. We both are. I don’t think I could live with myself with you gone as well. I can’t.” Tony whispered, resting his forehead against yours, pleading you to stay.
He was right. You couldn’t bear the thought of returning to that house which you shared with James, your husband, also the man who had been cheating on you with your best friend for months. Given a choice, you would probably set it on fire to bury all the memories and destroy them. It wasn’t your happy home anymore.
“Will you stay?”
You nodded as he helped you back up, walking you up the stairs that led to the bedrooms.
“Wait, I can’t stay in the–”
“The guest bedroom is on your left. I’ve been sleeping there. I’ll take the other one. I can’t sleep in our bedroom either.” Tony’s lips were pressed in a thin line, fingers trembling before he hid them in his pockets.
Of course. It was hard for him too. You wondered if he had the same thoughts of burning the house down. You two were in the same boat, one that was drowning in a sea of sorrow, betrayal and tainted memories.
And now all you had was each other.
.
Moonlight streamed through the windows as you lay awake, staring at the ceiling for hours, sleep had evaded you. Checking the clock, it stated it was way past midnight, you turned to your side to attempt a small nap if your mind allowed; however a dull crash fell on your ears from downstairs, making you jump out of bed and scramble to the source.
It was Tony.
Eyes brimmed with tears, a half empty bottle of whiskey sitting atop the kitchen counter and shards of broken glass on the floor. As you stepped closer, you saw a broken picture frame as well, one that housed Tony and Pepper’s wedding day photo, both wide eyed and grinning ear to ear, now with a huge crack along the surface.
“Tony?” you treaded carefully, your voice barely over a whisper as you placed your hand on his shoulder.
His tense muscles relaxed under your touch, a sigh leaving his lips.
“She took a pregnancy test, Y/N.” he murmured so quietly you almost missed it. Your heart dropped to your stomach as you heard him. You knew Tony and Pep had been trying for a kid for a while now, Tony wanted a child more than anything.
“Oh my God.” You croaked, rubbing his back in attempts to comfort him as you saw his eyes brimming with unshed tears, your heart breaking for him.
“Now I can’t even know if it was mine. She was fucking pregnant!” He smashed the glass of whiskey on the opposite wall, the two of you watching the liquid stream down in little rivulets, joining the shattered glass.
Tony’s breaths were coming in erratic and shallow, his eyes unfocused, he was struggling to stand upright.
“Tony hey! Look at me, come on. Let’s get you over here.” You supported him until he was sitting on the barstool while you took a seat opposite him. Bringing your hands up to cup his face, you made him look into your eyes.
“Breathe for me, please. It’s okay.”
You sounded unsure but you hoped it was helping him, he was trying his level best to focus on your words but it was hard. He could feel his heartbeat in his ears, all other voices drowning as sweat lined on his forehead.
“Tony. Come on. I know you can do this. Focus. Just breathe.” You placed one of his hands on your chest, taking in a deep breath and releasing it slowly, waiting for him to follow.
It took a few beats but eventually you succeeded in getting him back to normal. He squeezed your hand gratefully, nodding his head to let you know he was alright. You grabbed him a water before pouring yourself a glass of whiskey, neither of you bothering to clean up the mess in the kitchen.
You sat together in silence, pondering over what your lives had become in a span of a week. The alcohol definitely helped, numbed your pain and made you drowsy.
The sun was starting to rise outside, a dull, gray light filtering through the windows letting you know it was dawn. The word exhausted seemed to be synonymous with your daily routine, it was all you ever felt. You took your empty glass and were heading for the sink when Tony grabbed your wrist and stopped you.
“Where are you going?” The uncertainty in his eyes tugged at your heartstrings.
“Just to keep this. Tony, I’m right here.” You reassured the man who followed you into the kitchen, as if to make sure you wouldn’t disappear all of a sudden.
“Will you leave me?” He whispered shakily.
This wasn’t a side of Tony you had ever seen. You were used to the confident, sassy man who joked around and made you laugh.
“I can’t deal with the pain alone. Stay. Please. You’re all I have, Y/N.”
There wasn’t a muscle in your body that protested, not that you wanted to anyways. Laying his head against your chest, he hugged you, holding onto you with all his might.
“Okay, I’ll stay. I’ll stay as long as you need.”
“You will?”
He felt you nod as your fingers carded through his hair, calming his nerves and reassuring him of your presence. He didn’t know how long it would take for you both to recover, but as long as you were with him and he with you, he felt some semblance of hope. That eventually everything could be okay.
“Of course. You’re all I have too.”

BRF Reading - 24th of April, 2024
This is speculation only
Cards drawn on the 24th of April, 2024
Question: Does King Charles want Prince William to reconcile with Harry, and if so, why?
Tumblr media
Interpretation: King Charles wants the arguments and tension between the brothers to stop because he can't cope with it (this is 'Don't make my last years a misery' territory).
Note: A lot of this reading is nothing new, but rather confirmation of what we already know or suspect.
Card One: The World
The World is a card of endings, of something coming to a successful conclusion. It usually involves looking back over what you have done and noting the successes and failures before you move on.
As an answer to my question, the energy from this card says yes, The King does want Prince William and Harry to reconcile. He wants the hurts/tensions/disagreements between them to be over, done with, finished, and for them to move on into a new relationship where they support each other or at least give the appearance of supporting each other.
As an answer to why, this card tells me that King Charles sees the failed relationship between the two brothers as a sign of failure on his part, and it is something he wants to fix before he 'moves on' to another plane of existence. I think that King Charles has been reviewing his life lately and he wants his last years to be with the illusion or reality of a happy, supportive family around him. I also think that he is quite upset that Prince William will not 'forgive and forget' to give him that illusion/reality.
Card Two: The Eight of Swords in reverse
The Eight of Swords is about being stressed mentally. You are in a situation and you can't see a way out. When it is reversed either the situation is a lot worse than the upright card, or you can finally see a way out of the situation.
I think both of these meanings are true here. When King Charles looks at the situation with his sons, he feels like the Eight of Swords in reverse - trapped, unable to do anything, almost victimised - and the situation is worse than he though it would be. This is giving him a lot of stress as he doesn't want his sons to be fighting.
He thinks he has a found a way out of the situation - his sons forgive and forget, make up, and he has no more stress. This completely ignores the hurt and the invasion of privacy that Harry has inflicted on his brother and his family, but for some reason The King is not taking that into consideration.
The energy of this card reminds me of when victims are told to forgive their abusers because otherwise they are bad people/they are holding onto anger/they are destroying themselves etc, and no one ever holds the abusers to account for what they did to the victim or says that the abusers should be the ones begging for forgiveness.
Card Three: The Five of Wands
This is a card of conflict, rivalry, competition, and arguments. The card shows Jason and Medea facing off against a green dragon that guards the golden fleece. I see Jason as Harry, Medea as Meghan, and the dragon as William, the Prince of Wales. The dragon is just doing its job, guarding a treasure that was given into its care (Prince William protecting his family and, in the wider sense, the monarchy), and Jason and Medea come along and try to kill it to gain its treasure (Harry saying horrible things about Prince William and his family because he is trying to wrest his brother's 'treasure' from him, said 'treasure' being his position as the heir). In the myth, Jason succeeds in killing the dragon with Medea's help, but I don't think that is going to happen here.
The conflict between Harry and Prince William is because Harry wants to be in Prince William's position - to be the heir. Harry is aided and abetted by Meghan in his actions. These actions involve everything he can think of that will 'kill' his brother, so he can take over his brother's role, including attacking his brother's family. This is not news, it is confirmation of something that we have seen for quite some time. This card is confirmation that there is conflict between the brothers, it is initiated by Harry and supported by his wife, it works through the media and PR (wands are PR), and that it will not stop until Harry has gained his 'treasure' - the position of The Prince of Wales, heir to the throne.
It is this situation and the vicious media articles that come from this conflict that is creating stress for King Charles and that he wants to end by having the brothers reconcile. I have to say here that given the gravity of the situation and the hurt that has been inflicted upon Prince William by his brother, I think that asking Prince William to forgive and forget and make up with Harry is a rather stupid idea. I can understand The King's desire to have an end to the conflict but I don't think reconciliation is the answer, or even possible. This competition is all one sided, from Harry, and shows no sign of ending until he is either defeated or he achieves his goal of being The Prince of Wales (and, eventually, King).
Card Four: The Two of Wands in reverse
The Two of Wands is a card about planning, making plans. When it is in the reverse, those plans are not happening. The energy of this card is of plans that The King has, and wants to carry through, that are now impossible to implement because of the rift between his two sons. As for what those plans are - the Two of Wands can be a card of leaving home. The picture on the card shows a red haired man, Jason, who for me symbolises Harry, standing outside the cave of Chiron, which for me represents the BRF. In the upright, Harry has left the BRF - he is outside the family. In the reverse, as we have here, this situation is undone and Harry is returned to his family. For me, this seems to indicate that King Charles has plans to return Harry to the bosom of the BRF and that those plans are impossible to implement while there is antagonism between Harry and Prince William.
Card Five: The Ten of Cups in reverse.
The Ten of Cups is the happy family card, the card of emotional contentment. This can be a real state or, occasionally, it can be an illusion - looking at something through rose coloured glasses.
In the reverse, this state of a happy family, real or illusionary, is not happening. There is no harmony in the family, and instead the family is full of conflict. This is the reality that for whatever reason The King is refusing to face. He is trying to create this illusion/reality of a happy family and he is not facing the fact that the actions of his younger son have irrevocably shattered that happy family image and it can not be brought back.
This card tell me that the reconciliation that the King wants will not happen. The family will not be reunited and the the conflicts and competition of the Five of Wands card will continue.
This card shows a wedding on Mount Olympus, the home of the gods, which represents a royal wedding. The energy from the reversed card is almost as if King Charles does not want to admit that Harry and Meghan's royal wedding was a mistake? He doesn't want to see his son in a broken marriage or admit that his son has a broken marriage? I can't quite make the energy out - maybe sympathy for Harry in his marriage? Or The King thinks that if Harry is separated from Meghan, then everything will go back to being OK between him and Meghan (the Five of Wands tells me this is not the case and that at this point in time Harry will continue his one sided competition with his brother with or without his wife).
If Harry and Meghan do separate, then I feel that King Charles will blame everything on Meghan and say everything is her fault, and that is not what happened.
Underlying Energy: The Hanged Man
The Hanged Man is a card of inaction, of contemplation, of seeing things from a new perspective, which fits in with the energy of The World card of King Charles reviewing his life. It is also the card of sacrifice, of having to make a sacrifice or be a sacrifice, which for me resonates with his wish that his son 'sacrifice' (ignore) his hurt and the effects of his brother's attacks on his family, and make up with his brother who is continually attacking him. Finally, the Hanged Man is the card for Neptune, the planet of illusion and delusion (among other things), which tells me that The King's wish for reconciliation between his sons is an illusion that is not happening.
The Hanged Man is a card of inaction, and that is The King's position here. He can not take action and force his sons to reconcile, instead he should sit back and let them play this out between themselves instead of trying to force them together in the name of brotherly love. The Hanged Man's inaction sometimes brings a new perspective on things. It might be time for King Charles to find a different way of looking at the situation between his sons and how he would like that to be resolved.
Conclusion:
The King does want his sons to reconcile. His sons' fighting is causing him a great deal of stress and anxiety. Having them reconcile would remove that stress. He appears to have been thinking over his life and he seems to feel that the actions of his sons reflect on him and are a failure on his part. Removing the conflict would fix that failure, remove the stress that is caused by Harry's actions, and bring the conclusion that he appears to want - a happy family.
Unfortunately, Harry is attacking Prince William with a set goal in mind - to steal his brother's treasure/become The Prince of Wales - and he is unlikely to stop until this goal is achieved. The competition is all one sided, it stems from Harry and Harry alone, and for this reason it is unlikely to stop until Harry lets go of his need to be better than his brother (which in my opinion will only happen after a lot of reputable therapy, if at all). Until Harry changes, the King's wishes for a reconciliation and a happy family are going to remain a rose coloured illusion.
The King has plans that he wants to implement, plans that appear to involve having Harry returned to his family, and these plans can not be implemented with the situation between the brothers as it is. This is another reason he wants his sons to reconcile - so he can move forward with those plans.
The message from the cards is for King Charles to spend more time thinking about this situation so that he can see it from a different perspective and stop pressuring one son to sacrifice himself, his principles, and his family, for the sake of his rose coloured illusion of a peaceful life surrounded by a happy family.

Summary:
Aventurine jolted upwards, drenched in a cold sweat and breathing faster than ever. This has become a common occurrence, he decides to go to the one person he could trust, whether he liked it or not.
Pairing: Aventurine x Dr Ratio
Genre: Hurt/Comfort
wc: 836
Tumblr media
Aventurine shot out of bed, his heart beating out of his chest and a sob climbing up his throat. It was always the same nightmare, except this one doesn’t fade like the rest. The thought was hard to deal with and left his chest feeling a strange sense of hollowness.
It was at this point that Aventurine knew he couldn’t do this anymore and got out of his bed. He had to do something about this ache.
If there was anyone that could help, it would be Dr Ratio. He was the only one who would have even a semblance of understanding for how he felt. Of course, he had many people he could turn to, but it wasn’t the same, It was just a bit different. He had always felt content whenever he was with the doctor.
Aventurine held his pillow closely to his chest and trotted over to the room the doctor was residing in. Opening the door, he could see that Ratio was snoring softly, his violet hair mussed and his mouth slightly open.
Dr Ratio had a pillow tucked in his arms and Aventurine wanted to be that pillow. He wanted to be in between Ratio’s arms and allow the doctor to hold him gently. It’s what he needed at the moment. But he couldn’t just wedge himself in, he would probably get smacked, so he went for the next best thing.
“Hey, Doctor?” He mumbled and poked Ratio’s cheek. Other than a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth, nothing happened. Of course. Why would Ratio respond to something that meaningless? He’d have to be more harsh, even though he didn’t exactly have the energy for that kind of thing.
He tried one more time. “Ratio?”
Aventurine sighed, just then an idea sprung into his head as a mischievous smirk spread across his face, he raised his arm slowly and hit the doctor with his pillow. That wasn’t a bad way to wake him up, right? Whatever. He needed him to get up already.
Ratio shifted in his sleep, his face scrunching up, but ultimately was unphased. Aventurine tried again and this time, finally, the doctor’s eyes snapped open, his hands moving to rub them. Suddenly, he sprang upright like a corpse rising from the dead, his head whipping round to meet Aventurine’s gaze.
“Gambler, you utter fool! Has your brain ceased to function, why the aeons would you do that you buffoon?” Dr Ratio looked at him, drowsiness still etched into his features as he blinked wearily. Aventurine tightened his hold on his pillow.
“Doctor, can I…” He trailed off. “Can I sleep with you?” He knew there was a possibility that Ratio would say no, but he was too kind-hearted for that. Still, somewhere in his heart was a seed of anxiety, and it had been growing rather quickly ever since he woke up. What if he did say no? And he wouldn’t blame the doctor either.
Ratio’s expression softened as he scooted over and placed the pillow that was in his arms to the side. Aventurine climbed on top of the bed and laid down, Ratio throwing the blanket on top of the both of them.
The gambler had tossed his own pillow aside as well, knowing full well that it was nothing in comparison to Ratio. His chest was the best pillow. It was soft, warm, and so very gentle. The feeling of being near him was something an inanimate object could never beat.
Ratio wrapped his arm around Aventurine’s middle and tugged him closer. Aventurine wrapped his own arms around Ratio in turn and buried himself into the others chest. Ratio was warm. The doctor made that seed of anxiety in his heart dissipate. The kind of comfort only he could bring.
Ratio smiled as he cupped the gamblers face and leaned in to give him a kiss to the forehead, and gambler pulled back and opened his eyes to see the doctor staring at him, fondness swirling in the pools of amber that Aventurine found himself getting lost in.
Moments like these really made his heart melt, enough to melt it completely and leave nothing but a bunch of mush.
Ratio’s fondness was intoxicating. All of that love being directed his way made him indescribably happy. Maybe it was because he felt the exact same way that this love felt even better.
The blond haired man tucked his head underneath Ratio’s chin and rested against his chest.
Badump. Badump.
The sound of Dr Ratio’s heart was soothing. It had a gentleness that must’ve been special to Ratio. It was a wonderful sound to listen to.
The sound was soothing, so soothing in fact, that Aventurine felt himself grow more and more sleepy by the second. Wrapped in the warmth of his close friend, he fell asleep with a lighter heart.

i'm going insane bc i was away for the weekend and left my phone alone (god bless) and came back to a whole chapter PLUS love declaration PLUS forehead kiss ?? omg.....
Mira is not letting Xaden rest like ever, I do wonder what Violet told her while Xaden was prepping her bath tho.
“Not if it bothers you, they can’t,” said Xaden. “I’ll make sure they keep it away from you.”
oh he wants violet to be comfortable so baaaad he's the embodiment of "is the sun bothering you queen" and im so here for it.
i'm totally fine and sane over xaden washing violet's hair im not kicking my feet or anything and im definetely not crying over how soft they are and how much trust must violet have on him bc she's letting him touch her hair after it being threatned to be cut.
forehead touches are my faaaav so u can imagine how well fed i am after this chapter and for that i say thank you alli *dramatically bows*
Xaden not wanting her to feel like she wasnt love so he just declares himself to her had me weak, like it could've been this grand gesture but nothing between them has ever been planned or expected so he just winged it and it was perfectly what she needed. talk about soulmates !!
when u told us the declaration was gonna hurt i didnt have this imagined in my mind but im so glad it happened this way and not the way i thought it was gonna happen. it was so bittersweet !!
ALSO she def knows she loves him shes just not ready to admit it bc in no way in hell would she ask him to say after he declared himself if she didnt know she also felt something
also the way they first slept i know xaden neck was complaining
also violet reminded me of a cat who always try to get closer in their sleep. she just wants to cuddle !! and shes so real for that
Rhiannon is truly a bestie!! not her terrorrizing the love interest we love a ride or die bestie, even if sometimes she's unresonable
“You whisked her away before anyone could check on her.”
bestie there was not one single part of her that wasnt broken what was the man supposed to do *cries* but i do understand her stress
SLOANE MAIRI !!! not her calling the king of tyrrendor her brother i love that for her !! she's a princess so true. also i looove xaden and liam's talk it wasnt too cheesy bc tbh they dont operate like that but it was so genuine !!
can the guards chill !!
Garrick is just like me!! i too love gossip and will put my hands on it as soon as i can. but garrick its been like 12 hours wait a little longer or violet herself will call u out again. but also not garrick begging xaden no rule to country and he's just like "no <3" love that for him his wife just got back running a country is very far from his mind.
“Is that what you told her to do?” Rhiannon raised an eyebrow. “Get over it?” “No, but you’re not her, are you?”
He's so ??!!
the development of violet a few chapters ago being like "he didnt hold me while we slept bc there had been no excuses for it in Aretia" to now being like "im gonna curl into your arms so hard you'll never escape" and honestly good for them !!
anywayyyy i LOVED this chapter
lol a lot happened this weekend, welcome back!!!
Xaden’s literal one and only concern is Violet and her comfort, fuck everything else. I’m totally not fine and sane about the hair washing so I guess we balance each other out 🫶🏻
They are very much soulmates!! Xaden didn’t plan to fall in love with her, of course he didn’t plan some grand declaration of it either, we’re just going with what feels right. Violet is a grumpy little kitten yes you’re right
Rhiannon is stressed as hell, like give her best friend back RIORSON where is she
Garrick needs both gossip and for Xaden to do his job and he’s getting neither of those things! Too bad so sad!
Thank you!!!! 🩷

November 3rd 1984.
It wouldn’t be long before Steve was graduated and didn’t have to drag himself out of the house to do something that felt more and more pointless everyday. He knew he wasn’t going to collage. Despite what Nancy said about his essays being a good start and his parents pushing him to apply to places he knew they could make sizeable, anonymous donations to, Steve knew it was completely hopeless.
Finishing high school, getting his diploma was a case of dotting an I and crossing some T’s. It was something he had to do so he could move on with his life, and it would be simple. Something so easy he wouldn’t need to stand in front of the house phone, convincing himself that calling Nancy for help was a stupid thing to do, only to do it anyway and still feel completely an utterly crushed when Mrs Wheeler told him Nancy was doing something with Jonathan.
Easy. Simple.
All he had to do was keep his head down.
At lunch he sat by himself, shaking his head slightly— but not too much to cause any more throbbing— so his hair fell over his face in just the right way to obscure his more bruised eye as he started down at his lunch tray. A green apple, some weird looking lunch meat and potato concoction, and a cartoon of orange juice stared back at him.
The cafeteria was always loud, always bordering on overwhelming, but today it threatened to swallow him whole. He couldn’t focus on getting his hands to unclench so he was able to eat his food. The noises were just too loud.
Not for the first time that day, Steve started mentally counting down the minutes until he could retreat to his cold, empty, quiet house. Being alone didn’t quite fix the coiling dread in his stomach, but it did let him calm enough to get his thoughts in order. He could walkie Dustin to check in on the kids, and with the correctly placed questions, he could check in on Nancy and Jonathan too.
Only when he knew all of them were okay, knew all of them were safe could he let himself relax.
An arm settled over his shoulder. He flinched away on instinct, barely managing to keep himself seated and not reaching for a bat full of nails that didn’t exist.
“Sorry, man,” the person responsible for the reaction soothed quickly. The arm left his shoulders as quickly as it appeared. “You’re good, it’s just me.”
Steve pulled his eyes away from the table to stare at the man next to him.
Dark brown eyes a colour so deep that they couldn’t be anything but earnest stared back.
“Munson,” Steve grunted. “What do you want?”
Instantly on the defensive.
He didn’t know how to play the role any more, how to puff up his chest and sniff his nose in a way that would get people like Eddie Munson to roll their eyes and back off from him. So he didn’t try to mask the way he could barely see out of his left eyes, and he didn’t try to hide the obvious scabbing on his knuckles.
If he couldn’t scare people away with the King Steve mask, then the monster he’d been covering up all along would have to do.
But Eddie didn’t scare easily.
“Saw you were alone, figured you might want to some company.” Eddie shrugged and twisted his body so he could straddle the bench to face Steve.
Eddie didn’t seem to know what personal space meant. The knee he had under the table pressed into Steve’s thigh, just above his knee and the other Steve could feel the heat from at his lower back. His left hand was splayed against the bench, holding him up as he leant closer into Steve’s space, and the fingers of his right hand drummed an idle tune into the plastic coating the wood of the table.
“And perhaps I have a proposition for you,” Eddie said slyly.
Steve just raised his eyebrows. He couldn’t imagine what proposition Eddie Munson had for him. His fall from high school Grace had been well documented, told to anyone and everyone that was willing to listen to Tommy H or Carol gossip for longer than the two minutes fourteen seconds that had been Steve’s record.
Eddie’s smile was dazzling, in a word, when he realised he wasn’t going to be punched in the gut for trying to talk to previous high school celebrity. He somehow shifted closer. His breath smelt like pretzels and cigarettes, and in fell hot against Steve’s cheeks.
“If your commitment to seeing King Steve being dethroned is as staunch as I believe it may be, I say you need allies.”
Steve scoffed. “Why would I need allies?”
“Because high school sucks without them.” Eddie sounded honest.
From the times that Steve had listened to him talk before, he knew that he never sounded unhonest. He was terrifyingly authentic in every moment of his life; from the words he said to the clothes he wore, everything was one hundred percent honest.
And if anyone were going to be honest about high school, why wouldn’t it be Eddie?
This was his second go around at being a high school senior and if the rumours were to be believed, he was already on track for a third try. Which Steve thought was an insane rumour to spread before the Christmas break, he didn’t think anyone could be that bad at school.
“So what’s this proposition then?” Steve asked.
Eddie wasn’t wrong. High school did suck and he did need allies. But he didn’t need allies because high school sucked, he needed them because he always felt as if something was going to pull his ankles out from behind and drag him away to the pumpkin patch and the hole in the ground where he swore he saw his life flash before his eyes.
“Join Hellfire,” Eddie declared proudly.
Steve struggled not to laugh in his face.
He obviously didn’t do such a great job because Eddie’s earnest eyes clouded over with annoyance.
“No, no, sorry,” Steve was quick to explain. “It’s just funny because, this kid I know, babysit really, keeps trying to convince me to play the Dungeons and Dorks game. I wasn’t expecting you to say that.”
Something complicated passed over Eddie’s face that Steve, even with his usual ability to read social cues, couldn’t decipher.
“You know what Hellfire is?”
Steve snorted. “You’re not exactly quiet when you give those lunch table sermons you know, Munson.”
Eddie ducked his head slightly, his cheeks colouring a light shade of pink, as he chuckled. “I didn’t think anyone listened to those,” he confessed. “I mostly just do them to get my sheep to laugh.”
He nodded his head backwards towards the other end of the table.
Steve peered around his shoulder to see a group of four other kids, all dressed in a similar style to Eddie, staring open mouthed at him. It was only then that Steve realised that he managed to sit himself at the unoccupied end of the freaks table, and it really felt so fitting for the moment.
“Your sheep are staring,” Steve informed Eddie. He felt the small curve to the corners of his lips.
Eddie sighed dramatically. “They’re still early in their training, Harrington. Give me until Christmas and they’ll be lining up for their wool to be sheered without so much as a bleet.”
That did make Steve laugh. Not much, but enough of a chuckle that he actually made a noise with his mouth instead of his nose as he had been in the conversation thus far.
Which Eddie seemed to take as a monumental win. “So? Hellfire?”
Steve rolled his eyes, “Why?”
“Can I level with you?”
Steve nodded because he wasn’t sure he knew how to say no to Eddie in this moment, and saying no would have defeated him asking why in the first place.
“Being town pariah is tough. But, and I speak from personal experience here, it’s way easier to deal with when you’re not alone.”
Steve thought about going home to his cold, empty, quiet house. He thought about Nancy breaking up with him. He thought about how his only real friends isn’t he world right now were a bunch of twelve (thirteen?) year olds.
“I’ll think about it,” Steve said, and he meant it. He wasn’t sure he was ready for it, wasn’t sure if he could deal with the burden of being a nerd just because he was desperate for human contact. He didn’t even know how to play Dice and Dragons.
Eddie dazzled him with a smile again. “You know where to find me.”
Steve nodded.
Eddie migrated back to the other end of the table, holding court again with the rapt attention of four lost sheep, all clambering over themselves to ask about the peace treaty he’d offered to the foreign ruler.
Steve raised his cartoon of orange juice to Eddie as a toast.
He would think about it, but decided that Dustin could never know.

thinking about the princess AU kiddos properly being kiddos. like elementary-school-aged. the thing about hunter is that you'd EXPECT him to harbor at least Some resentment toward luz for being the favorite and for being naive and for always needing protection as a kid, especially since he is also a kid who is never afforded the same kindness. but the other thing about hunter is that luz was his painkiller WAYYY before he ever needed to be hers.

im so easy when it comes to immoral characters like okay do you bear your pain terribly? get behind me
#fandom is looking at a traumatised guy and going 'they deserved better'#but let me fucking TELL you if that guy goes on to let their trauma absolutely mutilate them then im gonna be there#bad victims etc etc#bear it terribly. bear it ugly and mean. bear it with your teeth stained by innocents that had nothing to do with the slaughter#let it make you worse. lash out. kick down. become the terrible thing#im defending that guy until the end of time#touya todoroki#andrew minyard#touya is the closest anyone has come to andrew in a very long time for me when it comes to this#like andrew is THEE baseline of this ive never seen anything like the way he does it#he was treated terribly and it made him terrible. shamelessly. he took the bad thing and decided to be worse for it#and while it's unsustainable in a person it's so fucking cathartic for a reader to just see that happening despite the tragedy of it#it's touya stood over his abuser and ripping his world apart with his bare hands while laughing#because he spent 10 years in hell for this moment. this single moment. and the audience and the characters call him a monster#it's andrew threatening his own cousin at knifepoint to defend a stranger's integrity simply because that is one of andrew's lines#and you do not cross them. no one ever will again. and the audience and the characters call him a monster#it's watching people who were treated awfully refuse to swallow that pain. refuse to forgive. refuse to move on#it's watching them embrace the wreckage of it and self-destruct either in one glorious explosion or gradually over years#because they are willingly choosing to live this way instead of getting over it. they are rejecting healing with their eyes open#because they were hurt so badly that healing now seems like a denial of that pain#and then u get to read fanfiction where they heal and are acknowledged for what they suffered and u cry and cry and cry <3

so wait… furina is the name of the archon role that “furina” had to play
wouldn’t make more sense narrative wise to give her a name of her own?? like scara gets his own epic chapter about him ridding himself of his past and adopting a new name then proceed to ignore said name in favor of “hat guy” but the actress playing “furina” doesn’t get to be known for her own name?
like people of fontain (partly maybe) know the truth so why not let her free? let her enjoy the simple human life she so so longed for? even the other furina wouldn’t want this
#i think her story is a better use of the (give character name) mechanic that wasn’t really needed in scara’s arc imo#like yeah it’s cool and all but we literally saw him throw the actual physical manifestation of his past into the fucking void!!!#i personally think it was kind of wasted on him on top of me thinking that idea was entirely stupid to begin with and hyv keeps proving tha#no one actually refers to him as wanderer or by the name they choose online.. its just scara#thats both bad marketing and confusing burying the character away from new players#and like the amount of shit u have to go through as a new player just to name ur weird huge hat angry little dude is just..#but imagine how impactful such a mechanic would be for ‘furina’ who spent all her live acting a role she wasn’t#at the end of all that agony do u think she could endure hearing people call her by that name??#unlike scara she did that for the people every moment of those 500 years knowing that the fate of every person is mere a breakdown away#there was nothing in that for her or for a reward she thought deserved.. just suffering on her own#it just makes more sense for her to want a different name a different identity that has nothing to do with that role#and again i think that mechanic is stupid anyway but if it had to happen i’d loved it more with ‘furina’#or idk give her like a clueless friend she gets to meet that keeps calling her a different name for reasons and her liking the name or smth#maybe give her a different role she gets to play.. or have neuvillette give her a name#same with scara i think it would have been a lot better if he went by a name he choose when all his previous names were chosen for him#i dont see how the entirety of genshin writers and devs agreed to this mechanic being implemented honestly#like traveler is literally there waiting for a single soul to address them by their actual name (the one we choose) but every time it’s jus#traveler traveler.. even their most beloved companion calls them traveler#like that alone should've changed the writers minds bc such a name would 1. either not ever be used or replaced by a nickname#2. the hell devs had to go through to not allow certain phrases and names and 3. the hell both teams will suffer should they add a new char#tl;dr stupid dumb mechanic but they should still give furina a new name#genshin impact#furina#fontaine archon quest#scaramouche

100 non-verbal prompts @uchihablooded requested: 33﹕ sender hovers over receiver’s shoulder as they complete a task. bonus detail: during childhood
ㅤHe would have to tidy up the mess before mother called them for dinner, Itachi was well aware. It wouldn't do for her to walk in and find half the bedroom's floor covered with maps and notes written on numerous sheets of paper. To be fair, it wasn't even anything that needed to be done - rather, the elder Uchiha son wanting to be proactive and well-prepared. Surely, if he was to start his new role as ANBU operative in three days, nobody would expect him to be familiar with all the procedures already. Let alone to have memorized every single spot in the Land of Fire where said ANBU kept a hideout or safehouse.
But that was just how Itachi was. Never aim for anything less than ideal.
ㅤHis own ideals were the basis for it, his very much ambitious dream: a unified shinobi world where everybody could live in peace. Where no more wars would have to be fought. Where his little brother could be happy and never have to act as a soldier. Speaking of which- as if on cue, that same little brother had just ventured inside the room, probably believing himself very stealthy as he all but hung over one of Itachi's shoulders to try and sneak a peek at what he was doing. Remaining unaffected for a couple minutes longer, fond smile on his face and not wishing to burst the happy bubble, Itachi eventually spoke.
«This will be very boring for you. Why aren't you playing outside?»
