All right it's been a couple days it's time for me to analyze parts of the musical (I don't care if my takes are old news I am giving myself endorphins ok????)

What I would like to focus on today is Jean Valjean's part in the reprise of "A Heart Full of Love." I'm particularly attached to this moment because it's how the musical represents his letting go of Cosette, which is one of my favorite scenes in the book (the box?? The box, anyone?????? "And they were all each other had in the world"?????????), so when I first heard this I already knew I was going to melt. But there are so many little details that just KILL ME

First of all, he's singing in counterpoint by himself while they duet (and they don't even know he's there). He is musically isolated and, while not opposing their harmony per se, contrasts it with a melody of his alone

The melody he uses is itself heartbreaking. He sings "She was never mine to keep" as a reference to the WORDS AND MELODY OF ÉPONINE ("He was never mine to lose") IN THE FIRST INSTANCE OF THIS SONG AS SHE MOURNED MARIUS, THE OTHER PART OF THIS COUPLE. (Also love how, in this moment as well as others, the song gives familial love as much value as romantic love, which is why it's so heartbreaking that Jean Valjean feels he's being left behind!) If you listen, JVJ is actually singing her melody and then harmonizes with what she had sung; he is united with Éponine, foreshadowing his death as well as showing his grief

He keeps doing this through the rest of the song. "Love is the garden of the young" mirrors Éponine's "Why regret what could not be?" (AUGH!! PARALLELS!! PUT THEM IN THE SAME SENTENCE) and his "Let it be" is in harmony with her "Not to me" (AGAIN!!!!)

And then. This is the part that really gutted me and made me write this post. When they notice him, he adopts their melody and lyrics as they move past them. He sings "A heart full of love / This I give you / on this day" and they harmonize without him...but they're not just melodically moving on. Their rhyme scheme is totally different. They're rhyming on "all" and similar sounds; his final word, "day," doesn't rhyme with anything they're saying or that he's said.

And then you look back at the start of the song, where you find the only rhyming lines: "I will never go away / And we will be together every day."...

Jean Valjean is rhyming with Cosette. As she sings the words he desperately wants to hear.

But she did not sing those words for him. He's trying to hold onto her, but his heart full of love is no longer the one she wants most. It's too late to rhyme with her; he is alone. And all he can do is look back to the past and think of when she was just so tall, and they held each other's hands...when he would sing, "I'll always be here / Where I go, you will be."

Imo, Ezreal is really smart!

He studied health, both mental and physical, and wanted to be a therapist but he just didn't enjoy that route after high-school

Mostly because he enjoyed singing and dancing too much, and his personality wouldn't really help

Ezreal cannot be super serious

He can be serious at times, but he has his limits on seriousness

He was also a choir kid, he loves singing and took classes for it!

In his mind, the vibrations when he or others sing is comforting

Ezreal also has really good ears! He can probably Sett making his protein shakes every day from his room (I believe he has the second farthest one from the kitchen, yone took measures to make them as comfortable as possible)

That also makes him both a light sleeper and an early riser

So he became acostumed of going to sleep earlier because Sett and k'sante go off to the gym together in the morning

Talking about the gym, the group goes once a week with K'sante and Sett to keep their shape to a T

Aluhe joins, too, but when she does, the boys keep a close eye on the people around them

Yone, when they don't go to the gym, goes on a three mile jog or run in the morning

Aphelios does a lot of waist and core workouts when the group goes to the gym, though they encourage him to build some more muscle in other places, like arms

K'sante has used everyone as a weight

Yone has the best balance of everyone, he can literally stand on a yoga ball on one foot and not fall

Kayn was in gymnastics in high-school and has gotten 3 gold metals and 1 silver during his years

Kayn is very good at taking care of people and is quite the history nerd

Aphelios, Sett, and Yone are English smarties

Ezreal is a science nerd

K'sante is a math boy

He both hates it and loves it

Aphelios can talk, that's canon

But I believe that he is able to strain his voice, and if he does that, he will struggle to communicate

Which is why he doesn't sing anymore

He learned sign language because alune has hearing problems

Sett can see in the dark, and his eyes also glow a little bit

Yone's eyes, in the sun, look gray, but in normal (good) good lighting, their green

K'sante and Sett can not do the splits, but the others can!

K'sante stretches, though!

Kayn loves skydiving

And he hates tea

Sett loves hugs, but he sqeezes people to death so he barely gets any

Alune loves his hugs tho!

Yone has put him in both mute and time out because of it, but he still does it

Aphelios is really great full for that lmao

Kayn is actually a nervous reck with his idols, but he hides behind Rhaast, so it seems like he's either a dickhead or really overconfident of himself

augh, I love twenty one pilots, I've been listening to them since before I was even old enough to comprehend anything they were talking about, and wow they have made another brilliant album.

I can't even begin to explain how hyped I've been for this album since the album art leaked back in February (?). I bought the vinyl and the digital remains (WHAT IS 25??) I'm so excited for the proper Paladin Strait MV. I LOVE THIS ALBUM. yes, I am biased. Glad I'm alive for this album. I don't think I've ever had lyrics so quickly memorized to any album before, I love this album. Trying to pick my favorite songs was impossible. Your honor, they're all my favorite. Anyways, I guess I picked 3.

opinion time! (as always, not opinion order, just album order)

"Vignette" THESE DRUMS oml I love them, if you get a chance, watch the mv and just watch Josh. And jesus the lyrics cut in a way so similar to self-titled, laugh this SONG. Big fan of the bird noises at the start too, wish is was a vulture to tie in with Trench but those things make nasty noises and probably wouldn't be too good for a song... Live laugh love Clifford... I think this song, although it doesn't state anything outright, is a song of hope especially with the line "Where do I grow from here". And that little instrumental before the final chorus, augh, I'm kissing Paul Meany on the mouth.

"Navigating" seems to be a lot of people's favorite and with good reason. Again, big fan of the drums here. It's such a hype song with such a painful bridge. Tyler can shush that he doesn't like this song and dear god how I want to hear Drag Path and the other scrapped songs because what else is Tyler hiding from us! Again, a lot of this album carries really, really heavy themes but with that theme of hope and Pushing through. That last chorus, man that second to last my oh my, I wanna scream with him, I love it. Super fun

"At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb" I think this song is really silly, it sounds super silly, but I can't sit here and act like the message is silly, it sucks, and it's really heavy, but it is classic tøp, happy sound, dark lyrics. this song is great, I love it, it hits deep, and the chorus is very catchy drums are less notable here but still amazing. Paul Meany struck again, I love the mixing on this song too

I'm gonna hold myself back, I would put every other song here but I'll pick some favorites.

"Midwest Indigo" I'm from the Midwest, I'm biased, this song is fun it's high-energy. I'm in love with the lines "I requested Counsel with the counselor/ And he canceled twice" and just the way Tyler sings them. And Josh singing "What's your ETA" and "Chill out man we're right on time" live was so cute <3.

"Routines In The Night" I feel is a sister song to "Navigating" This song is more chill, and super vulnerable aghhh. The backing vocals on the chorus at 2:10 are also so addictive, listen to just that section oml.

Both versions of "The Craving" are so sweet <3

Scars: Listened to this one the second it was officially released, so i've had some time to listen to it !!!and . ough. its so good. i love when the crane wives make angry songs <3 really REALLY happy that they've incorporated violin into their newer songs too. the subtle shriek halfway through, the buildup near the end....GRAH (and i know they did on past albums but tbh they did not include them Enough. i love the violin <3)

Bitter Medicine: another one that was released ahead of the full album! also very good. reminds me a lot of the queen of nothing, mainly because of "someone take my keys im in no shape for driving" vs "stop the car, i wanna get out". and the AH AH OH AH OH'S NEAR THE END. YES !!! THEYRE SO FUN TO SING ALONG WITH I LOVE THEM. and the instrumentals. GRAAAAAH !!! the electric guitar (?) at the end is AMAZING.

Higher Ground: right off the bat i loved the instruments. and then when they start singing? INCREDIBLE. the vocals for this one are so so so good. like im actually in love with them, especially the first "should i head for higher ground". and its also like. very upbeat and fun. it makes me want to run around and just get myself Moving somehow. AND THE SUBTLE STRINGS IN THE BACKGROUND AS THE SONG BUILDS UP!!! i love the plucking, it so. hrgahgrhahghr. and once again. THE VIOLIN. I LOVE THE VIOLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Predator: i came into this song expecting something similar to the hand that feeds, so it was MUCH different than i anticipated! and honestly, i love it so much?? the guitar...? whatever funky instrument thats all wobbly is. sounds so fun. and i love the vocals so much they scratch at my brain. THE CLAPPING TOO. ITS SO FUN. another one that makes me want to get up and run around or dance <3

Say It: i was excited for this one! my friend heard it live and absolutely loved it, so i'd heard a lot about it going in. its a lot calmer than i was expecting but ohhh its so good. Mad Dog: another song i heard good things about! i was expecting something high energy and BOY did it not disappoint. obsessed with the pace of the beginning vocals, they sound like so much fun to sing i cant wait to learn the lyrics. AND THEN. THE CHORUS!!! OHHHH. THE ECHOES OF RUNNING AND COMING. IM GONNA EXPLODE. THEY SCRATCH MY BRAIN SO WELL. and the funky instrument in the back that i think is maybe a guitar but i cant tell....its so good and funky and oh my god i love the crane wives. honestly, this is probably one of my favorites of the album. its so good. i need to tear something apart with my teeth

Arcturus Beaming: i heard this song live back when i went to their concert in april, and oh my GOD. genuinely this song changed me i think. it rearranged my atoms. it means so much to me i literally love this song, even if the instrumentals arent my favorite out of the rest of the album i cannot put it any lower than my absolute favorite. THERES MORE TO LIFE THAN SUFFERING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time Will Change You: and this song. right off the bat its INCREDIBLE. the steady beat in the back. the guitar. the vocals. and just . the general Vibes. AND THEN. AND THEN !!!! THE STRINGS. HOLY FUCKING SHIT THE STRINGSSS. THE SECOND I HEARD THEM I LOST MY MIND. they are SO pretty and THIS is exactly why i wanted the crane wives to use strings in their songs more. they include them SO well. AND AUGH. Black Hole Fantasy: i wasnt entirely sure what to expect going into this song so i was a bit surprised by the introduction- and then it just kept getting better. right off the bat it reminded me of arcturus beaming, and then the general story of the song.... just. the feeling of aching so desperately for a better life, but being afraid to take that first step because you dont want to face the risks that come with it..... i genuinely almost cried listening to it, especially as the song began to ramp up. the fantasy of taking that chance but still being afraid. Red Clay: going into this song, i was expecting something with the vibes of the icarus or keep you safe, and i wasnt disappointed!!! Used trope with a spin: BB-8 being the one getting you and Poe together. But it's not the typical way, of BB-8 spilling to you; nonono. He spills to POE.

What is he supposed to do? Poe's his dad, basically, and when the pretty resistance pilot tells the little menace that she likes his owner? Oh he is wheeling his ass over to poe, beeping discreetly, and spilling everything he can on you. Your birth date, your favorite song, your favorite drink, setting Poe up for success when he finally meets you. It's an easy setup, really: you greet BB-8, Poe's behind him, poe bumps into you, nearly knocks over his drink. But oh, he knocked *you* over, so *you'll* get his drink (it's your order). The next time you're at the cantina, Poe plays your favorite song and offers to dance with you, or sing, or just vibe to it. When your birth date rolls around, he leaves your favorite flowers by the door.

Little do the either of them know, you've got a little droid following Poe around, doing the same thing. Although Poe doesn't really talk to them-- he just talks to himself about you, how can he not, and the droid comes back for you. You were on your way to buy Poe's favorite drink, you nearly bumped into him near the music box to pay for HIS favorite song, and you nearly accidentally met one another at a garden shop on Coruscant for flowers for an "upcoming event" (you were planning on placing them on his x-wing)

You were hauled over Diluc’s shoulder, as you two were running from the Treasure Hoarders you encountered while picking fruits. Wanderer was providing cover as Diluc ran, dark slashes of wind trailing down on the enemy.

But, you really needed these Hoarders off your tail and running while Wanderer wildly blasts air at them won't really do much. Diluc knows this as well, as he tightens his grip on you and puts on his game face.

"Hold on."

And as you scramble to find a good grip, Diluc skids to a stop-- practically drifting as he turns to face them. They couldn't know what was coming for them as Diluc suddenly showers them in a rain of throwing knives. All that was left to do was for Wanderer to finish them off. With a great leap, he jumps onto a tree and starts running on errant branches to reach camp.

Diluc sighs as he hears you start to giggle in his ear. "What is it this time?"

He sighs again, a smile forming on his face. No matter how much he denies it, he can see the comparison.

You look at him, tears having dried on your face. "Then... I guess we'll be okay."
