When Paul opens his eyes after Chani revives him, and instead of happy, relieved, triumphant music, the most terrifying, threatening, ominous sound plays over the scene.
Chills. Anxiety, even. A monster opening his eyes after a deep slumber. An ancient god awakening for the first time.
Wynn: We need you because you're fucking you, you jackass. You are a member of the coterie. A member of the family and you are dabbling in this shit. How can I protect you from this?
Okay but the way that Kit screamed when she got the throwing star in her arm (and I’ve gotta be clear that I am not judging here, I would have too) but it really does reinforce: she’s never been hurt, before this quest. Oh, cuts and scrapes and accidents that are the province of most childhoods, sure, but not this, not deliberate harm by someone who wants you dead. She’s never been in danger, she’s never been in a real fight, she’s never been hurt. And I like that they allowed her that real, human reaction. Because being stoic and calm when you’re injured is not a terribly common response (speaking from personal experience, as I’m not a doctor). It makes her feel grounded, as young woman leaving her comfort zone, helps you believe that she’s a princess stepping beyond the bounds of her kingdom for the first time, experiencing, learning, growing, feeling. Vulnerability is part of good characterisation and often gets left out to make way for flawless ‘coolness’. It gives her character depth and relatability and realness
Actually unwell because of the good omens 2 final scene. The way you can see and feel that both Crowley and Aziraphale are doing this because they love eachother and just want to be together peacefully. The way neither of them understands what the other means. The way they are hurting eachother because they love eachother, but are just idiots who can't actually talk things out instead of assuming the worst. The so, so sweet and queer dilemma of either changing the oppressive system or running away from it and accepting that some things, especially those, rooted in violence and injustice, can't be changed. Once again, the queerness of it all. Going insane, actually.
Y’all, I just watched Dead Poets Society and I was not mentally prepared for this. I don’t know why, but I was really hoping it was gay lovers in a private school type of shit… NOPE. Suffice to say, I loved the movie, but I was not prepared to be this broken from it 😭😭😭
hhhhh finally watching mandalorian season 3 and the bo-katan character development coming out of left field?? her starting out the season so disillusioned and clearly broken by her failure to obtain the darksaber and magically unlock the ability to retake mandalore... and then in episode 2, the way she watches din— she's clearly come to respect him by this point.
bo-katan doesn't believe in much anymore- she doesn't believe in mandalore being redeemable, she doesn't believe in the creed, she doesn't believe in herself. the creed and what it means to be a mandalorian are just children's stories to her. in the way she recounts taking the creed as an entertainment-focused ceremony—vs the child in the previous episode, who was very clearly swearing an oath to live by. the creed is just for show to bo-katan, so of course she thinks din's Way is the product of a mindless zealot.
but in episode 2 you can see her watching him. slowly coming to understand that there's worth behind the Creed, that it is something to live by, honorable even. when she flippantly states how her father "was a great man" who died protecting mandalore, and din stops and bows to her, and says in somber grief "this is the Way", her facade visibly cracked.
this man before her is the living embodiment of the Creed, possibly like something out of her childhood storybooks. she clearly sees something in him that she had relegated to the stuff of myth.
she reads the touristy plaque at the Living Waters (which just goes to show how, as a society, the Way had been written off as a relic of the past) aloud with a tone that, again, sounds like something for storybooks. lofty and wistful. like she expects a rise out of din, anything from him agreeing with her that it's a pointless waste of time.
but din, the zealot knight determined to redeem himself, isn't even remotely fazed. if anything he's in awe of the place of legend he's finally found. it's not a dinky tourist trap to him. not at all. and bo-katan's expressions as he begins to recite his vow, words he clearly knows without a second thought? it almost looked like she was choking up. those little bubbles of elation you get at something grand.
i think this is more than just a story of din redeeming himself. it's bo-katan too. she went into the Waters as well, and i think she's going to find it in herself to redeem herself as a mandalorian—to be worthy of the throne in more than just title and sword (when she finally gets the darksaber lol)
hhhhhh i love character development and watching internal arcs like that
Ive said this before but swear the biggest skill to learn as an adult is how to resist high-pressure sales tactics. You do NOT have to answer questions with anything other than "Sorry I'm not interested." No matter how nice they are or no matter how many follow up questions they ask or even how agitated they get when you stand your ground. Just keep saying I'm not interested. Don't answer their questions. Don't give them an opening to try to push back on your reasons. Be a fucking brick wall of I'm not interested.

Well, unsurprisingly, KOSA passed the Senate procedural vote 86-1.
Proof:
Again, they still have to vote on the final passage & the House still has to vote on it as well.
So, focus on your House Representative now; Continue to call them & tell them to vote ‘No’ to KOSA. Remember: There is more opposition to KOSA in the House.
if you can stomach it i would recommend watching the body cam footage of the sonya massey killing, i'll try to describe it but it's hardly possible. you can't truly understand the type of extreme, completely volatile aggression that happens with cops if you haven't seen it, and it's captured here very harrowingly.
several officers are in her house, calmly talking with her about her id and vehicle papers for some time. it's routine administrative stuff, no acute danger or stress whatsoever. one of them tells her to take her pot off the stove, remarking that they don't need a fire in the house now, she walks over into the kitchen and complies. he suddenly backs off towards the front door despite already being several feet away. she asks him where he's going, he says "away from your hot, steaming water." she repeats "my hot, steamin' water?" in an amused tone. then adds "i rebuke you in the name of jesus," in a similar tone while pouring the water down the sink. the atmosphere is completely calm, you might even say amiable.
she's at this point still separated from the cops by her kitchen aisle and several feet of additional distance. the cop prompts her to repeat what she said, she repeats her reply about rebuking him in the name of jesus [edit: i didn't phrase this right in the original post; this phrase is not really a joke but rather used similarly to 'perish the thought'- ie rebuking his implication that she would harm them]. she doesn't even realise there's been a complete 180 in his head. he goes "you better fucking not, i will shoot you in your fucking face," she's stunned by the sudden abusive language for half a second, immediately he draws his gun directly at her head, she gets out a panicked "sorry!" and ducks behind the aisle, he rounds the corner into the kitchen specifically to advance right next to her, immediately fires 3 shots at her head from above at minimal distance. she's dead where she stood, or cowered rather, by the sink in her nightgown.
after a few seconds you hear the click of him turning on his body cam, saying "she came at me with a pot of boiling water." for the recording. he also nonchalantly tells his partner there's no need to get a med kit because it was a headshot. it's one of the most clear cut cases ever and it's fully recorded only because his partner did already have the body cam on throughout.
