I JUST HAD A STARTLING THOUGHT REGARDING WTNV 182

WHAT IF, holY FUCK, what if WHEN CECIL IS TALKING ABOUT HIS MOTHER LEAVING FLOWERS AT THE BASE OF THE TREE

ITS FOR TEENAGED CECIL’S GRAVE???????? THE ONE THAT DIED ON THE CASSETTE TAPES???

AND CECIL, bc of the weird interdimensional reality hopping stuff, IS NOW REMEMBERING his own DEATH —

my supporting ‘facts’ — (and this negates my bomb shelter rambles but sort of coincides with my 171 rambles ( its all for fun folks))

a. cecil keeps talking about going toward the light which usually means death. despite the tapes playing, cecil himself can’t hear them, or doesn’t know. sort of like a NDE?

a-2. in 192 cecil says he thinks both the men in the tree are his dad but what if its him and his younger self (like in cassettes??) what if its Cecil beckoning his younger self from another time line, basically being like the grim reaper sorta? Idk — also im sure cecil looks like his father which is probably another allegory

( and what if teenaged cecil’s mom knows that the cecil we know isnt her actual cecil (like a changeling situation) which is why she calls him a monster )

b. His mother moves through the woods at a pace her kids cannot keep up, almost like she doesn’t know they’re there. this could be because memories are overlapping, and cecil is misremembering on trips he actually took there. Maybe hes observing his mother visiting his own grave but somehow through the childhood eyes of the cecil WE know

C. “I’ve been in this job for a long time. Probably longer than I’ve been alive. I mean: you’ve been alive.” — cndjdjciiii again, this makes me feel like he’s referencing a time skip or a dimension hop. Also like, it also feels like a direct confirmation of outliving/surviving death to continue on as the cecil we know. kinda makes me really sad he sounds so weary

d. “I think the radio station is fun. I think the radio station is hidden. I think the radio station is like a dark planet lit by no sun. I think, therefore I soon won’t be.” this is from Cassettes, right before cecil dies on the tape. Idk why i included it here, but it felt relevant. sort foreshadows the known fact of night Vale being split off from reality by huntokar. just cassettes in general, really. ‘i think, therefore i soon wont be’ is a interesting warping of ‘i think, therefore i am’ Implying that existence is framed by an eventual absence of something, as opposed to the current substance of it.

e. Again just some thoughts about cat ballou that are purely coincidental (as this ALL is) but fun to Connect anyways—

—lee marvin is a real man thats plays TWO roles in the actual film. get what im saying? Two cecils? —the soundtrack of the movie is played by people that you see within the movie, it helps frames the scenes and initiates scene changes. this reminds me of the weather being a thing people have to wait around for (when steve and cecil are talking And cecil just fucking commands the weather lmao)

—the book its based off of was serious and the movie turned it into a comedy, but left in some of the darker themes which gabe it a very odd and satirical feeling where the humor feels uncomfortable or strange. sound familiar? (Hint, night vale?)

in conclusion? endless conclusions probably.

Weird and wonky time and reality skipping, like a cd with a scratch. I just had a thought and wanted to write it out.

oh and cecil saying how he wanted to make ‘memories to last a life time’ at the end of the episode after forgetting his lovely outing with his husband and son hurt me so deeply. i would love a fic of carlos responding to ALL of this that cecil is going through
