Daily Check-in: October 5th, 2023 + Life Update 🎀
I swear I always disappear for a few days, lurk around the tumblr app, and then decide to give a random update. I really need to work on my consistency lol.
Anywho, life has been soooo busy. I've ben packing and preparing for my trip out to see my boyfriend tomorrow, trying to catch up on homework so I'm not super busy while I am with him this weekend, working like crazy because money is a necessity, and just keeping up with the day to day grind.
So, here's a mini update from yesterday, and yes I am still going to try to update while I'm with my man as I will still be doing homework and studying Japanese and what not.
🩷 Academic Achievments Past Few Days -
completed and passed culinary quiz
Turned in my actual spending budget from Septmeber
Finished an investing assignment
Worked on the draft for a research paper literature review thing I have to write for my psychology class (finishing it today!)
presented my mid term presentation in my culinary class and got complimented by the professor/chef
submitted a lactation nutrition chart fie ym nutrition class
completed my pre lab and lab report for tomorrow's anatomy lab
completed quiz chapter 6 for my psychology class
completed practical assignment and module quiz for my fitness for health and sport class
I've been pretty busy with school work. I catch up on a weekly basis, but of course, then more homework is released, and I feel like I get thrown back to square one. College life, yay!
🩷 Personal Acheivements Past Few Days -
kept up with skincare routine
packed for trip
journaled a few times
went to the gym for the first time since February (just walked the treadmill but it's a start!)
kept up with medical appointments
did my laundry yesterday
kept up with my duolingo and busuu streaks
regained motivation for studying Japanese
I feel like I haven't done as much for myself personally but at the same time like I have? I am a bit upset with myself. I have a meeting with my Dietetian Mentor (#1) and in the last 3 weeks since we last spoke, I haven't done anything from what she had asked because I've been so busy. I've had 2 panic attacks, extreme exhaustion, and worked 3 doubles at my job since I last spoke to her. However, I am planning on working on some of her stuff this weekend while I'll have the time, so hopefully she isn't upset and can understand my position? She seems really nice so fingers crossed.
🩷 Academic ToDo For Today -
write up restaurant field trip report for culinary class
weekly meal writing for culinary class
complete my component one for my psychology class
take my lab exam one for anatomy
duolingo + busuu for Japanese
gather my necessary materials for completing the rest of my homework this weekend
🩷 Personal ToDo For Today -
put away clean laundry
wash sheets + pillowcases + towels
take out bedroom + bathroom trash
sweep bedroom really good
scrub toilet and wipe down counter + sink in bathroom
check in to the flight app to get my boarding pass for tomorrow
therapy
meet with RD Mentor #1
morning journal
skincare morning + night
redye the pink in my hair
finish packing tonight
a lot of things to do today to prepare for this weekend. but it will all be worth it once I get to see my boyfriend.
thats all for today!
til next time lovelies 🩷

No Batteries Required
Turns out that with all the other powers of a ghostly core, they also make a great emergency light source.
Second Phic for this Phic Phight!
Prompt from @jewishicequeen : There's a powerfail at school, and during a major test, too. So it's really lucky, if a bit weird, that Fenton glows in the dark? Or, Danny becomes a freaking nightlight.
Today is his home room period’s first test back from winter break, one of the most important for the quarter. Glancing around Edward Lancer counts twenty five bent heads, all focusing on the paper before them. Hopefully today they can get through the next, a quick glance at the old clock hanging in the wall, hour and four minutes without any ghost attacks or rouge bathroom trips.
If they ended up having to push this test back then it would mean the class would have less time to go over and review their next unit when the time came, which in turn he knows will push the entire schedule back at least a week or two, meaning less time to review the needed material, leaving his kids ill prepared for tests the entire quarter.
Even after two years Casper high had not been able to stretch or alter their curriculum to accommodate for their new, erm, ghostly neighbors. Every attempt to reach out to the larger school board had been met with quiet disdain and louder criticism.
At best they could use the few half days the calendar offered and convert them into extra time in the event a ghost prevented tests from being completed multiple days in a row. They were doing all they could to not take the kids' spring break, it wouldn’t be fair after all their kids went through to turn around and deprive them of one of the few chances for a break they could get.
But, nothing Edward can do about that right now. Now he has a duty to see these kids though their test today and hopefully be able to move into their next unit on Monday.
Weak sunlight is streaming through the windows, casting the room in a soft warm glow. One of many reasons Edward had requested an outer room of the school. He had found that, as distracting as the outside could be, having a room with a view to the outside kept his students from feeling too enclosed and anxious.
It also didn’t help that sunlight meant that his room was always nice and bright, better than the cheap overhead lights which could barely keep the room visible when the blinds were closed. In the last month three of them had been damaged to the point that they were nonfunctional, and several others were just too old and were on their last legs.
There’s no outward sign before it happens, no flashing light or rumbling earth, one moment Edward is observing his students from his desk, and the next the room is plunged into darkness.
Well, not complete darkness, but it’s a rather gloomy day, so the light from outside casts the entire room into a muddled gloom.
As his brain is trying to catch up with his eyes his ears finally register the echo of all the lights in the room going pop and out at once.
In the half second before his students register what’s going on Edward curses himself for even thinking things could not go wrong.
No one screams, at least. But there’s the screech of cheap metal chairs on tile as his students try to figure out what’s going on. There’s no burst of light from students' phones, which strikes him as odd, before Edward remembers they’re all sitting in little cubbies at the front of the room.
After an unfortunate encounter with a ghostly duo of the mad Nikolai Tesla rip-off and a metal Mohawk man, Edward had negotiated with his students that all phones were to stay at the front of the room and not on anyone’s person.
One only needed to experience a group electrocution from dozens of phones combined with sitting in metal chairs once before his students readily agreed to the new rule.
(There hadn’t been any lasting injuries, all in all it hadn’t been a super powerful attack, but one student had needed to go to the nurse for fainting after the shock. At least Dash and his friend group hadn’t teased young Daniel too badly for that.)
Now that the darkness had settled in, and there was no maniacal laughter to indicate that a ghost was directly behind this situation, the chatter from his students rose from a murmur to a fever pitch.
Two sharp claps bring everything to a halt, and Edward is greeted with twenty five pairs of eyes staring steadily at him.
“Everyone please remain calm,” his voice was loud in the now defining quiet of the room. “Hopefully this is a temporary issue and will be resolved in the next few minutes. Now, we still have light from the windows so if we could all please get back to our tests-“
A series of clanks and buzzes pierce the air from the side of the classroom, before the metal ghost shield contraption slams down over the windows with a god awful grinding sound. An echo of the screeching sound fills the room as Edward once again tries to comprehend what had just happened.
It must have been a failure in the schools power system, either a fluke or a ghost had been trying to cause problems but the fail safes had caused the entire system to shut down in self defense.
It didn’t immediately explain why the metal ghost shield enforcers had activated, but given that the system was less than two years old, and had been in large part programmed by Jack Fenton meant that there were bound to be a few flaws in the code.
And now the class was sitting in pitch darkness and gearing up to be in full panic mode. Unfortunately with all their undead neighbors the school has had little time to educate the students in what they should do in situations not involving the undead.
Shove a kid in a room with a ghost and they would arrive back in class five minutes later with a triumphant grin and a few scorch marks, close a kid in a room and set off the tornado warning and suddenly everyone was running around with their heads cut off.
No one has run from their feet towards their phones yet, but Edward knows it’s only a matter of time. And then he’ll have a stampede of terrified juniors all running over each other in the pitch black classroom.
For all this was their classroom, it was a new room to everyone. A particularly nasty attack from the Wisconsin ghost a few days back had almost completely obliterated their homeroom, so they were forced to relocate to a little used lab room in the far wing while Mayor Masters found the resources to allocate to the school.
With silent feet Edward moves to where he knows the door is, it won’t be much, but at least if worst comes to worst he can slowly escort his class outside. But, the door handle won't budge, and his heart sinks to his shoes as the door refuses to open.
He knows part of the new ghost security system was that individual rooms could be completely locked down to catch a wandering ghost, but this seems like a large oversight of the Doctor’s Fenton part.
He makes his way back to his desk, then turns again, making his steps now audible to his class. Let them think he’s pacing, it’s a normal enough habit of his that the kids shouldn’t realize something is wrong.
“Alright everyone, please remain in your seats. If something has happened emergency power should activate soon, and once the faculty has figured out what’s wrong they’ll use the PA system to instruct us on what to do next.” damn, he can feel his own voice wavering slightly.
That’s hoping whatever caused this to happen didn’t affect the PA system, and if they end up doing a door to door notice they won’t be able to get theirs open, if they even remember seeing as this classroom is usually unused.
But, something is wrong. The room should be in complete darkness, but as the seconds tick by the room becomes steadily lighter, as if someone is slowly powering up a flashlight.
As the room slowly becomes visible all eyes are drawn to the source, a spot right next to the windows, but it’s not natural light.
It’s the color of the glow that truly throws Edward off. Most everything he’s encountered in the last few years that glowed were always a sickly green color, reminiscent of radioactive goop shown on Saturday morning cartoons. But this glow now reminded him of a sunrise. Small and bright, but always a welcome sight.
Even before the form becomes fully visible, Edward knows the culprit. Often the center of unnatural things occurring all around him, young Danny Fenton.
As his eyes adjust to the light he sees it is not, in fact, a flashlight, but Danny himself that is brightening the room.
Which, even for a ghost hunter's son, this is rather unusual.
But, one should neve look a gift horse in the mouth. He’s seen his students float before and even become an actual ghostly dragon in one very memorable occurrence. If this means he doesn’t have to reschedule this test, and as the minutes tick by it becomes clear that Danny is producing enough light for the entire class to see by, then Edward should simply go with the flow, as the kids say.
“Daniel,” and oh the poor kid looks just as freaked out as the rest of them feel, “could you please move to the middle of the room? Just ah- yes Cory if you could swap and move to Daniel’s seat that would be spectacular.”
There’s some very awkward shuffling as Danny and Cory swap seats, everyone’s eyes still drawn towards Danny like a moth to a flame.
“Thank you gentlemen, now seeing as Danny has, ah, provided us with an alternative light source for this period, let us all focus back on our tests. If you wouldn't mind staying after class, Danny, I do have some questions.”
“Heh,” snickering from the back of the class where he know Dash and Kwan commanded the football team like kings at a court, “I guess you could call Fenton a fleshlig-“
“Finish that sentence mr. Baxter, and you will find yourself staying after class for the rest of the week.” All movement in the back stops just as suddenly as if they had been frozen to their seats, “and you know Coach Telestaff is strict in her requirements to be at practices lest you not be put on the field.”
“I ahm, uh,” Danny is fidgeting from all the attention thrust upon him. He glances towards his friends who are giving furious little gestures under their desks that Edward pretends he can’t see, “I accidentally ate ectoplasm last night!”
Well, he had been going to discuss this privately, but teens so rarely wanted to stand out from their peers. Maybe he hoped explaining now meant he could leave when class was over.
“Yeah!” Danny sounds more confident as his story builds as he speaks, “my dad was trying out this new recipe from my mom’s sister, and I think he forgot he and my mom were working on one of their weapons earlier that evening and accidentally coated the entire thing in ectoplasm. But! It should go away on its own soon! Shouldn’t last more than a day!”
“Ok, thank you for your explanation, now if everyone could get back to their tests…”
As his students calm down and return to their tests a low hum slowly makes itself known over the shuffling of feet and scratching of pencils.
It is, not dissimilar to the sound of a content cat, in Edward’s experience. Looking out again he can see a small smile grace Daniel’s face as the other students calm around him.
But what does he know, it’s probably just the vents.

Review - The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Big spoilers ahead!
Unlike my Normal People review, which I wrote a few weeks after I'd actually finished reading it, this review is nice and fresh as I finished the book about four minutes ago. I'm choosing to do my review by book, rather than the whole series, for four reasons.
I like doing reviews fresh. It helps to convey the actual thoughts I had when finishing/reading the book. Also, I have a lot to say (whoops!).
Unfortunately, I watched the movies before I read the book(s) and I have a sneaking feeling that I will not like the later books as much.
I have a hard time distinguishing between books in a series after I've read them. All the events kind of blur together. Not super helpful as reviews go.
I'm trying to keep my activity streak going. Consistency is my weakness and I have a tendency to disappear from Tumblr for months at a time. Here's to holding ourselves to stuff! (Hopefully) This is also a good way to force myself to read more.
My first concrete thought is that my heart is breaking at the end scene. The way that Peeta was so oblivious to Katniss playing it up for camera and all. Poor guy had no idea. Also, how can anyone ship Katniss and Gale? I don't mean that in a rude way, it's just kind of baffling after the amount of times Katniss said her feelings for him weren't romantic.
I thought the movies were relatively loyal to the books. Several scenes and plot lines were near exact and that's hard to do! I appreciate it, especially the details (i.e. Katniss holding the red rose as they ride in on the chariots). I do feel like they took a lot of emotion out of it, particularly Katniss. She seems a little lifeless and numb to everything in the movies, which I'd assumed was kind of just her default for going through a traumatic event like that, but after reading the books she is much livelier. Her narration, emotions, and feelings as everything is going on really sold me for how much I enjoyed the book. However, I respect the choices of the people involved in the filmmaking (because they are, in fact, good films) and perhaps that is a stylistic choice.
Katniss' narration, emotions, and reactions were all (for me) spot on. I felt like she was a real person who was aware of herself and developed over the course of the book due to the things that she was going through. Her narration was personal without sounding monologue-y, and I really enjoyed reading it. I always feel the need to acknowledge when the general feel of the writing or narration is well done because that can kill a book and make it unbearable or a chore to read.
I love the characters. They're well thought out, three dimensional, and the way that Katniss views and interacts with them is very realistic. In my mind this particularly applies to the stylist assistants, Haymitch, and Peeta. Katniss tries so hard not to judge the stylists, even though they are the very embodiment of what she dislikes about the games (i.e. their frilliness and comments, especially right after she's won). Because it's not really their fault, and she knows that they're people. She is very humane and empathetic which I think I see in myself. It's nice to see it reflected, especially in a main character. Especially in a main character who is seen as ruthless or lethal or dangerous. Her violence has motivation and she does all of the things, including killings, for real reasons. That's such an important, unique, significant thing about this book for me. Fantasy and dystopia often try to make strong (cough female cough) main characters who are badass and assassins and whatever (which is cool!! I love badass women!! I'm making a different point here), but their motivations are often lacking or cold or vague. They kill a hundred men for revenge over their slain little sister, but there is no connection to their little sister. They don't think about their little sister apart from "REVENGE!". We don't see a bond between them. I don't know, Katniss is just real and how she experiences and feels things is too. Woah! Bit of a detour we took there. Let's get back on track. Haymitch is probably someone who has been discussed a thousand times (pure vibe speculation). It's interesting to see him go from a drunk, no care, jerk to someone Katniss relies on and cares for. (cough three dimensional cough) It's also cool to see Katniss realize that and realize that the reason he's an alcoholic is due to what the Capital has put him through. Peeta. Oh, Peeta. The way Katniss views Peeta is kind of funny. She talks about how hard he is to predict, how mysterious, how strategic, when he's just a teenage boy in love. She's always trying to figure out his secret, ulterior motives and it's just that he likes her.
I have a lot of thoughts but I think many of them are ranging into hard to put into words and mostly just general feelings territory which is never nice to try and explain. Plus, I've talked a lot already. I realize, editing this, that these aren't really "reviews" so much as a dumping of my major thoughts and feelings. Maybe I should rename the series. Thoughts?
I would recommend reading this book! (You probably have already)
See you for Catching Fire :,)

OMG!! It's finally here! Season 3 is finally here! After waiting one year, three months, and eleven days, we finally get to see the grand return of the Warners and Pinky and The Brain for all new adventures! I watched the first two episodes of this season, and boy, it was a doozy! Anyways, here are my opinions of these two episodes.
Episode 1: Honestly this was a mixed bag overall. The Warner segments were only okay while the Pinky and The Brain segment was great. Honestly, "Season 3 and WB" was kind of slowly paced and boring. The segment from the 2nd season that came before this was also pretty slow and boring. The Warners felt like background characters and the drama felt forced. I'll give them points for giving Nora Rita Norita a bigger personality and there were some clever movie parodies, but it felt slow. There were also some gross-out jokes that were super weird. There weren't many laughs to be found here, also. "How To: Friendship" was a nice follow-up to the previous segment. While I don't think it was as good as the first Pinky's How To, it still managed to be a funny and engaging watch. I feel like that this season is going to focus more on Pinky, since he basically had more screen time than Brain in these first two episodes. Pinky was very funny and I love how much he cares for Brain. His apology song to Brain was hilarious (and Pinky surprisingly has better editing skills than me!) Pinky playing around with Brain using the filters was cute and him moving his hand to pat Brain on the head when he was frustrated was just freaking adorable. I also liked the ending when Brain compliments Pinky for essentially saving him from an explosion. Also, this is the episode where Pinky makes a macaroni photo of him kissing Brain!!! And Brain keeps the picture even after tearing it away!! This was probably the cutest segment from the reboot and I was squealing like a little girl the entire time! There have already been more Brinky moments in these first two episodes than in the entire first season! I can't wait for more!
Episode 2: This was a slight improvement over the first episode but not by too much. "Soda-Pressed" was kind of interesting and Dot did have her shining moments. But all that character growth just goes down the drain at the end. The song in this episode was only okay, and I'm more excited for other songs to come later on. It was very slowly paced and only had a few decent laughs. This was an okay experience. "A Starbox is Born" is probably the best Starbox and Cindy segment but that's not saying much. There were some cute moments and the animation was beautiful but that's about it. I also got a laugh out of this segment so I consider that a win. It still had some slow pacing, but it thankfully didn't run on for too long. "Royal Flush" was a pretty good segment. There was some clever satire, good jokes, and a surprise song that I really enjoyed. I thought that this episode would be focused more on the poker game that Brain was in, but it was more focused on Pinky and his feelings. Pinky looked stunning in that dress and I liked the bond he formed with the Meagan Markle parody. The song they sang was a spoof of "A Whole New World" and it reminded me of the song from "Pinky's Dream House" (An episode of Pinky, Elmyra, and The Brain). This song was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. Also, Pinky is not straight! He literally envisions Brain in the stars during the parody of a romantic song when the Meagan Markle character was singing about her husband-to-be. Pinky is clearly enamored with his friend, and Brain hopefully will recuperate these feelings. I think the writers are hinting at a little something here! Anyways, I really enjoyed this segment, though it went in a different direction than I had thought. (Also, when the horse appears in the stable at the beginning, did anyone get nervous and think Phar Fignewton was back from the bin of dead Animaniacs characters? I sure did!)
Anyways, I think that the Pinky and The Brain segments are very strong, while the Warner segments were just okay. I still have eight episodes to watch, so maybe my opinions will change for the better or for the worse.

Hey
I'm back, gonna make a review about Octoplush this time, they might not be Turquoise October, but they have some good songs
Octoplush
Tumblr media
Nine Out Of Tension: the song that appeared in the trailer, although with some changes, honestly I prefer the trailer version because of the tiny build up it has, but sadly it's not the full song so the in-game version is probably better?, But yeah, this is the song that's most similar to a Turquoise October song (at least for me) and I think it's a nice way to transition into the Octoplush songs, so you feel some familiarity with it and then you start to hear more and more of them, with their different style and sounds, overall one of my favorite ones
Underwater Neon: something I like about Octoplus is how different their songs sound, like they are made by different people, Turquoise October had a lil bit of that but in Octoplush's case it's more noticeable, may I also add that there appear to be vocals similar to Warabi in the song, it doesn't sound that similar but still, I do wonder about that, especially after another song of theirs has a reference to another octoling musician, oh yeah the song, so the song is nice I like the tone it has, I have to say the Octoplush songs are one of my favorites in Splatoon 3
Tumblr media
Flop to it: hearing this makes me really appreciate the different tempos Octoplush uses for their songs, it really makes a difference even if you don't pay attention to them, gives the levels variety, not only in terms of gameplay but also sound and stuff like that; hearing this again reminds me of Turquoise October a lil bit, maybe because of the sounds they used
Smoke and Mirrors: a really nice slow song, I like the marimba they used there (I think it's marimba idk, maybe it's a xylophone) it has a nice synth as well, I remember really enjoying the levels this played in, I believe that Octoplush has so many cool songs that fit each level really well
Tumblr media
Ride or Fry: ok this song is cool and all of that BUT I HATE THE LEVELS IT'S IN, well only one of them, the rest are fine, the one I'm talking about is One-way Ride through Target Town, it's so hard, especially with the tri-stringer, it's the only level I have to beat with all of the weapons and it pisses me off because of that, anyways the song is cool, the weird vocals it has are, well weird, but I like em
With Flying Colors: ok this one is another one of my favorites, the levels it plays in are fun and the song itself is fun, I like the trumpets it uses and also the voice clips it uses, which I assume are from opera singers, I think, and this also reminds of like, are those like, humans? Idk if inkfish could replicate opera singers, if they are humans this would remind me of Paul and how he supposedly remixes human vocals, which is interesting
Tumblr media
Seep & Destroy: 🗿
Ok funny stuff aside I really like this song, it makes the levels it plays in feel better and it also has a nice beat to it, and like, the funny bing bang stuff, it also has a different version in splatune 3 which I personally like more than the one in-game
Marine Machines: ok this song is wayyyyy different in terms of like, songs you would usually hear in story mode, which is super cool I like how it makes the levels feel more mysterious and also tense, especially fog levels, I think it played in one of them, but yeah overall I would love to see more songs like this one because it slaps, it has a nice bass to it as well
Tumblr media
#35 caught: ok we are finally in the song I wanted to talk about the most, the title of the song is obviously a reference to Dedf1sh, which also makes me wonder if she's part of Octoplush now, and this also makes me wonder about those vocals in Underwater Neon that reminded me of Warabi and the ones in With Flying Colors that resembled what Paul does, it feels like Octoplush is a conglomerate of Octoling and Octarian musicians and it's honestly really interesting I wish they talked more about that, or that we got more info on them, hopefully the side order band will give us more information, who knows maybe it will be Dedf1sh and we'll see her all fuzzy, or maybe its Octoplush again or a new Octarian band, it's interesting to think about, I'm so excited for side order and the new band it will have, this reminded me of something I discussed with someone about Octoplush, it might be like, Mr grizz using Octarian musicians to make songs and attract more Octarians to use, that's why he could kidnap all of the Octarians because he made them come to him with the songs, also the song is really good it gives this feeling like, of anxiety, and it's really good (the song not the feeling)
Don't Flinch: ok theories aside, we are almost done here, this one is one of my least favorite ones, it's ok I don't see much in it, EXCEPT THE ICE CREAM TRUCK JINGLE IN IT, idk why it's there but it's so funny that it immediately became one of the ones I like the most, only because of that, and I mean, it has so many weird sounds in it as well
In Filtration: funny name tbh, anyways so this song plays at the first rocket level and it honestly is so good, idk if it's just me but it sounds kinda like an intro to pour it on, I feel like they go well together idk why
Tumblr media
And that's about it, Octoplush might not be Turquoise October but their songs are really good, and they have so many things I would like to know about, I hope the side order band or album gives more lore to them; anyways, you are free to go now, I will make another review in 5 years or so goodbye now

5:30 and 6:30am cherry blossom views :) I slept from 8-5:15 and probably need one more night like that before I’ll feel back to normal again. I do feel significantly less emotionally unstable though lol so I guess everyone who was like JUST GO TO BED yesterday was right 🙄🙄🙄 anyway here we are!!!! we are READY!!!!
here’s my plan of attack. so far I’ve spent the morning reviewing the PPT I started yesterday and organizing my notes for the second and third main points. I also emailed or texted all the former students I’m hoping to use as examples in the talk to get permission from them (and to run my framing of the examples by them for their OK or edits) and they’ve all gotten back to me with the most enthusiastic responses and well wishes for the interview 😭 so that was a nice mood boost this morning. I think I’ll let myself keep lounging in bed working on this outline until 7:45… then I’d like to get up, shower, and work at my desk so I can go back and forth between my work laptop & personal laptop as needed. a possible sketch for the day:
7:15-7:45 work on outline
7:45-8:15 shower, get ready, listen to some music to pump myself up
8:15-8:30 check on reply from B about the training edits + also follow up with M about the interview workshop if necessary
8:30-9:30 transfer remaining outline content into the PPT—it can be super rough as I’m going to do a lot of polishing and practicing work with liz today I think
9:30-10:30 maybe do an initial practice run or talkthrough with liz on zoom
10:40ish walk to appointment so I can get some sun and hopefully reset my circadian rhythms a bit
11-11:30 ultrasound—I’m going to be a little bit crushed if we missed the window, but I also strongly suspect we missed the window so if it’s a no-go this cycle I will just focus on using the next four weeks to get myself back into consistent running & healthy eating routines
pugs arrive around 12
time the talk and make a decision on whether I have time to do the lesson walkthrough as part of it. if I don’t, I will add a section where I highlight some of the model projects we use to expand students’ conceptions of research. if I do, I will need to make the slides—and/or possibly print the materials if I decide to set up the classroom.
try on my outfit and shoes for tomorrow to make sure everything fits and nothing needs to be ironed. I also want to practice the talk in my outfit to make sure I’m comfortable. I may want to bring a cardigan if I get too hot in the suit jacket and need to change.
print the list of questions I generated for the different interviews plus my distilled list of the job duties. I might need to buy a folder to keep papers in?? I should also find that little notebook I bought to jot down questions and notes throughout the day.
in the afternoon haley might come over or I might call her to practice the talk for her.
in the afternoon/evening, I want to map out the route for tomorrow morning and possibly actually drive there to be absolutely sure I can find the parking lot. I can practice the talk on the drive.
practice everything more in the evening and also just practice talking through possible questions that I expect to come up. I also want to find and print my syllabi too just to refresh my memory on how I scaffolded research skills instruction. and I’d like to jot down quick notes in my folder on everyone’s names and backgrounds in the CL office.
medium long walk with the dogs I think
might try to go to bed by 8/8:30 again so I can be up bright and early! tomorrow my first interview is at 9, so I’d like to be there and parked by 8:30, which means leaving by 8, which means showering by 6:30 so my hair is fully dry when I get there. I think I’ll aim to get up at 5ish again just so I can have plenty of time to take all four dogs out and practice a bit more before I need to start getting ready.

I'm 6 hours into the Pale Beyond on Steam and I'm enjoying it a lot. It's a survival management game where you balance resources and maintaining loyalty. It's got the Terror vibes, since the Franklin Expedition and the Endurance expeditions were direct inspirations. There's a character who I think looks like Cornelius Hickey who's background probably isn't the cleanest, and the doctor has Goodsir vibes. Someone says 'this place wants us dead'. The characters and narrative are intriguing. Also you get to pet dogs (I have a bad feeling about this).
It's difficult to not reset the game every time you mess up, and the game would prefer you not do that, since you have to restart the entire week. It's not just because of a more beneficial choice, but I also don't want to upset the characters.
Speaking of the characters, I did not expect to get attached this much. Even though you mostly interact with the specialists, the majority of them are given enough characterization to make them stand out. It should be quite easy getting a good/neutral response once you have a grasp on their personalities, generally just respect them and don't pry too much. Just do what they want you to do or find a neutral point.
Moving onto resource management. The most common resource you'll get is food, but besides eating, you also have to burn them for warmth. It's not hard to keep the crew happy so far, so you could alternate between half rations and half heat each week and be fine, which is what I should've done. If people get sick, there are ways to immediately heal them, or if you don't want to waste resources, send them to the doctor and they'll be fine next week. But it's still a hard choice if you like the characters as much as I do.
There are some bugs, like resource cards turning black when I click them even though I can add more and a few letters extending far beyond my screen (might not be wide screen optimized yet). I also experienced a loading problem besides the game screen popping out. It's not a huge issue (or I'm just used to Fallout New Vegas), and devs are fixing them.
Even if you're not a Terror fan, give it a go if you like narrative-driven strategy games with an interesting cast and brilliant art style.
SPOILERS up to Act 2, maybe beyond!
I have a tendency to spoil endings for myself. I didn't watch any youtube videos, but I did go on the steam forums and read some reviews. But first:
I thought Templeton was definitely going to stab me in the back somehow (judging from one reviewer), but up till now he's just being pragmatic and giving sound advice, if not a little suspicious. It's not hard to get on his good side. And wow, the plant metaphor really suits him! Please don't stab me in the back.
Grimley, on the other hand... it's ok if you don't completely trust me, but you don't have to sing about it to everyone, especially if we're going to be stuck together for a long time. Seriously, everyone is loyal to me but him. What the hell do I have to do to make him at least tolerate me? Cool song though.
I knew Hammond was going to fight someone sooner or later. Great work ethic borderlining on obsessive, but if I tell him to take a break he'll be pissed. Hopefully with Timmy helping, he'll worry less. Nice sense of humour.
Kurt is fine, surprisingly not that arrogant for a celeb. He's definitely insecure about his age and use of a cane hindering his ability to help, but he's still knowledgeable.
Junior is more sociable and receptive, but I'm still suspicious of him, considering his closeness to Captain Hunt and his brother.
Kasha is nice and super helpful for morale. It's great that she warms up to the crew, especially Arthur and Kurt.
Speaking of warming up (heh), Arthur's relatable with his social anxiety and need to be reassured. He does start bonding with the others. Besides that, there's Cordell with her love of singing and theatre and dogs.
The character development is amazing. The most heartbreaking part for now is when all the characters say they might not make it back and tell you to look after their family/tell their family etc.
Other memorable characters include science couple, science gun guy, Thomas Blanky vibes, the gymnast, and Timmy and his da. Also Grips who told me was in the military (because I picked colonial).
Leave the ship a week after announced, before dinner.
Get the medical supplies for the expanded bed space, one set of digging tools, and the guns to get more food and defend against the seal asap. Use the shotgun if you don't wanna die!
Don't hesitate because you want to please both characters.
Theory:
The expedition is funded by the canned peach company. (Huh. Tins.) Templeton and most of the science staff are botanists. Why would you need botanists in the cold?
Captain Hunt said something like 'if I don't take this then others will'. Then he got drunk and left. It's definitely related to the expedition.
On the forums and in the achievements, I saw something about a 'tree' and 'fruit'.
The Viscount went to look for the Tree five years ago and vanished. The peach company hears about this and wants to find the tree and make money off the fruits, or the fruits are magical somehow and they want to exploit it. They organize the expedition in the name of finding the Viscount and send Templeton and the scientists to study the Tree. Hunt hears this somewhere, doesn't agree. He takes the job, deliberately choosing the path so we would get stuck in the ice, ignoring Kurt's advice. He sets off with some trusted crew members and leaves to find the Tree so we don't get to it. The rescue ship is to bring the harvested fruits back.

Thoughts on Danganronpa Despair Time
Tumblr media
Since my review of Project Eden’s Garden went over pretty well. I thought I would talk about my thoughts on another Danganronpa fanseries. Danganronpa Despair Time. The latest episode I watched was Ch.2 episode 7 so please no spoilers beyond that.
Teruko- Gotta love an edgy asshole. I could see her dying in Ch.5 or survivng.
Ace- He kinda feels like Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko mixed together. And I love him for that. And I know he’s a douchebag but the fact no one cared when he nearly died and everyone was defending Nico was weird asf. #Justice4Ace I think he’ll survive? Not completely sure.
Arturo- Loveable creep. Gives off Korekiyo vibes. I love his dynamic with Veronika. I could definitely see him as a Ch.3 killer.
Veronika- An interesting comparison I thought of is when Veronika says she likes horror stuff because she gets bored easily. It reminded me of how Junko said she likes despair because she gets bored easily. I could very well see a Veronika mastermind.
Hu Jing- Huge mommy milkers aside. I really like her character design. And I like how she’s the designated “mom friend” of the group. I think she’ll survive.
David- Behind those sparkly eyes, I think he’s hiding something. He was close to Xander who died. He had a touching moment with Arei and now she’s dead. Coincidence? I think not. I don’t think he killed her say. But what if he “motivated” her to kill herself? Locking in my prediction on him as the Ch.2 killer.
Rose- She “rose” up in my rankings after her backstory dropped in Ch.2. As a pursuing artist myself, I thought it was sad how she’s forced to create art that doesn’t interest her. And if she doesn’t then her boss won’t pay off her debt anymore. Probably dies in Ch.4 or Ch.3 killer.
Whit- Good comedic relief character. Probably a survivor.
Eden- I like how she’s the one person who hasn’t completely given up on Teruko yet. I could see her becoming a support character. I think she’ll either be a Ch.5 killer or survivor.
Charles- The opposite of Teruko in a way. She was nice and them became an asshole. He was an asshole and then became nice-ish. I like his friendship with Whit. I think he’ll be a survivor.
Arei- Funny at times. I thought Nico or Ace was gonna be the victim. So seeing Arei die after getting character development was shocking. I still think David had a hand to play in her death. Ch.2 victim.
Levi- Just kinda there I guess. Don’t have much to say. He’s buff so he probably dies in Ch.4
J- Same as Levi. Don’t have much to say about her. Maybe dies in Ch,3?
Min- Her death was sad. But I’m not gonna act like I was super interested in her character beforehand. Ch.1 killer.
Xander- As the tierlist says. Xander just felt like a discount version of V3 Kaito to me. The way he would try to cheer up Teruko felt similar to how Kaito did it with Shuichi. I still think there’s more to his death. He acted like he didn’t want to stab Teruko but was left with no choice. I think someone told him to do it.... “squints eye at David.” Ch.1 victim
Nico- If we were just counting Ch.1 he’d be in neutral. But he got on my nerves this chapter. I don’t like the “shy uwu” character archetype. And I don’t think being bullied justifies trying to commit a murder. Hopefully he doesn’t survive.

therapy with laney #1 | austin self para
WHO: Austin Butler & Lainey Dowder (licensed therapist) WHEN: August 21th, 2023 WHERE: Austin's house SUMMARY: Austin has his first phone visit with his therapist. TRIGGER WARNINGS: Death, suicidal ideations, substance abuse, childhood abuse, mental health issues
Tumblr media
Austin could feel his stomach flipping as he waited for the appropriate time and kept a watchful eye on his phone. He knew this was easier than going to see someone in person - and much quicker too, although he knew in the future he should probably bite the bullet and go see someone face to face. He was doing this alone though - no partner to hold his hand, no parent or sibling or even a friend to drive him. He sat in his office at home, with his phone and no one else. His thoughts faced and he'd already gotten queasy that morning, not knowing what to expect from the first step of many steps down a road that would hopefully make him feel better - that would help him to understand what he was so scared of and how to fix it.
Austin hit the answer button when the call came in from "Laney Dowder" a licensed therapist in the state of California. He'd found her at random, read her reviews and saw she had a cancellation and booked as soon as he could after his birthday ordeal. He heard the click of the other line and heard a gentle voice on the other end. "Hello, is this Austin?" she asked. "Hi, yeah that's me," he responded. Okay, first sentence down. He took a deep breath, very audible on the phone and nodded to himself. "Well, it's very nice to meet you. I'm Laney Dowder, a license therapist. I see that you found my profile online and chose to make an appointment with me. Thank you for trusting me. I can tell you a bit about myself." Laney went into detail about her life. She had a husband and some kids and a pet dog. She went over her educational background and shared with Austin what she liked to do in her spare time. Austin had to stop and think when she'd asked him the same questions. "Well, I'm Austin. I'm technically single but I do have a long term, long distance, low commitment, casual girlfriend," he decided to joke lightly. He received a genuine laugh from the woman on the phone. "A Barbie fan? My girls loved that movie!" she commented. He laughed, feeling a bit more comfortable. Okay, so she did the same things everyone else did that summer. "Thought I'd try to lighten the mood a bit," he said, biting his lip although she could not see it. She appreciated it and complimented him on his sense of humor in a professional way. "No pets right now. I graduated from high school and I've been an actor for about twenty years. I began doing background work in children's shows and now I've moved onto some movies and television shows, I try to keep myself as busy as possible." The two talked about what he enjoyed doing in his spare time and he could hear Laney jotting down notes as they spoke.
"Okay, so - we've made our small talk and we're getting to know each other. What brings you to me today?" she finally asked. "Um," he trailed off. "I have some problems. I have issues with avoidance, I have issues with feeling indifferent, I have anxiety that I can't really control," Austin listed off. "Okay - and would you say that you have episodes of panic? Panic attacks?" Austin bit his lip. "Yeah, definitely." She wrote more. "And how often would you say that you experience those, if you had to guess?" she asked. "A few times a week," he admitted truthfully. "Okay and let's focus on..childhood. Was it good, who did you grow up with?" Austin chewed on his lip as he thought back. "It was pretty good, I guess. Not super typical but both of my parents loved me. My sister, Ashley too. Ashley is five years older than me. My mom and dad got divorced when I was six," he explained. "Divorce can be quite traumatic for a child that age, were they on friendly terms while you were growing up?" Laney asked. "Yes. My mom was in an abusive marriage at one point and my dad took us back into his home. They ended up being like best friends more than anything, it was really nice for us growing up," Austin admitted. "You said your mom was in an abusive marriage? Was this physical?" she asked gently. "No, it was emotional and verbal." She jotted down more. "And was this man ever physically, mentally or verbally abusive to you or your sister?" she asked. Austin frozen a bit and shook his head slightly. "I - I don't really want to talk about that," he admitted. "Okay, no problem. We'll move along to the next question. How is your relationship with your sister and your parents now? How would you describe it?" Laney asked. Austin swallowed and took a deep breath. "My sister Ashley is - one of my best friends. I've been distant from her for some time but she is the most lovely, wonderful sister anyone could ever ask for. She is kind, compassionate, generous, loving - I couldn't ask for a better sister. My dad lives in Arizona now, I don't see him very often but when I do it's always positive. He keeps to himself and I do too, we're a lot alike in that way. And my mom passed in 2014," Austin revealed. "My condolences, I'm so very sorry to hear that," Laney said sympathetically. "May I ask how she passed?" Austin nodded to himself. "She was sick. Diagnosed late stage and - in a couple years it was over," he stated easily. "Oh, how terrible. I'm so sorry again. How was your relationship with her during her time on earth?" Laney asked gently. "Wonderful. My mom was my hero, my best friend. So wonderful, no amount of time would've been enough with her," he said, his voice getting quieter. He heard the pen jotting down more notes.
"Romantically? You said you have a complicated situation, is what I'm getting from your Ken reference?" Laney asked. Austin could hear her smile on the other end of the phone. "Yes - you could say that. I uh, dated this woman for about a decade. We broke up in 2019 and I've been pursuing her again for a couple of months," he explained. "May I ask what caused the initial breakup? Ten years is a long time to be together." Austin chewed on his lip again. "I ended up booking a big movie and I went method. Kind of became my character. My girlfriend didn't make the cut and I started to have inklings of developing feelings for my costar and couldn't ever cheat on my girlfriend," he explained. She hummed and made more notes. "I see. Okay and where does that leave you two now?" Austin shifted a bit in his seat. "That's a good question. Um, long story short I'm trying to get her to fall back in love with me. Because I want to marry her but she is scared," Austin explained apprehensively. "You want to marry her?" she asked softly. "Yes, I do. Badly. I want to marry her and have kids with her. I deeply regret my past choices and mistakes and have been trying to work hard to make it up for her. Being here today is a big part of that too," he admitted. "Okay - now to get a bit heavier here. Have you ever been suicidal or struggled with suicidal ideation?" Laney asked gently. "Ideation," Austin repeated. "Yeah, I've been there." She nodded. "Do you have a history of self harm?" she asked. "No," he answered simply. "Okay, what about substances? Drugs, alcohol, cigarettes?" she listed off. "I've never done drugs aside from marijuana. I drink, sometimes. I drink normally, socially, a little more than socially," he decided. "And yeah, I smoke," he confirmed. "What do you hope to get from therapy?" Laney asked. "I think..I'm hoping to learn what's wrong with me and maybe how to get a grip on my feelings better or more efficiently. I have a hard time dealing with big or difficult things and I tend to run away," Austin explained. "And what would you like to accomplish in our future sessions?" the therapist asked. "I would like to..learn how to cope with the symptoms that I have so I can be a better brother, boyfriendish person and friend to my loved ones," he confirmed.
Laney wrote some more and cleared her throat. "Excuse me. Okay, well - I think therapy could be very beneficial for you. We need to get to the root of some of these problems you are having and figure out some new ways to help you deal with your stress that maybe aren't quite as self-destructive to yourself and the relationships you hold with others," she explained. "Does that sound like a good goal to have for our future sessions?" Laney asked. Austin nodded, although she could not see him. "Yes, that sounds great." Laney clasped her hands. "Awesome, okay. Well would you like to come in the office in a couple weeks and then we can meet face to face and talk more about everything?" she asked. "That would be great, thanks." Laney closed her notes. "Okay, lovely. Well, thank you so much for speaking with me today. It was great meeting you and I look forward to our next session. Do you have any other questions for me?" the therapist asked. "I don't think so, but thank you for your time." Laney smiled. "Of course, thank you. Take care," she said. "Thanks, you too."

The Villain of Romance - Episode 1
Tumblr media
Since I spend a lot of time on Viki for subbing purposes once again, it obviously becomes a source of inspiration when it comes to finding new dramas to watch and this was on the home page when I logged in this morning. And who do I see on the promotional picture? No one else than Baro from B1A4. Well I know he’s not part of the band anymore and that’s how I first knew him and he was one of my favorite with his very low voice. The picture looks cute, so I decided that this will be the next drama I’m watching, probably in parallel with something else because the episodes are not all out as I’m writing this review. Hopefully it will be a change from all the past series I have been watching lately.
For a second there, I thought I jumped in too fast and that it was actually a Reality Show, with the two anchors. They were reading a letter from a viewer I guess and that leads us to the story so far. Hee Jae gets into a fight with his girlfriend, Yoo Jin, decides to go on a trip alone with another man, her childhood friend.
Yoo Jin seems to be a very bossy woman. So far, I think she’s a little abusive with Hee Jae. Why would she take him to him super spicy food when she knows he can’t handle it very well? I personally looooove spicy food, however, my partner can’t handle it very well, so I don’t put as much peppers when I cook to suit their preference. And that’s not being submissive, it’s just being considerate, the same way they stopped using white pepper everywhere since I don’t like it even though that is his preference. Anyways. It doesn’t look like a healthy relationship to me.
Hee Jae didn’t know for a long time that Yoo Jin’s childhood friend she spends so much time with is actually a man and is very shocked on the day he meets him. Ever after that, he keeps following them around and getting between them every time they meet. One, that’s very childish. Two, that’s way too controlling. If you can’t trust someone, don’t date them. However, I can’t completely blame him, because she does stuff that annoys him on purpose and that’s really not nice.
Hee Jae ends up begging his friend to drive him to the hotel where Yoo Jin and Sang Ah are staying. He comes right as she’s leaving. In the room, Sang Ah tried to kiss her after she told him he was sad long enough about his breakup with his girlfriend and she rejected him quite violently. Hee Jae’s friend’s car died on the way there, after Hee Jae abandoned him.
And that’s it for now. So far I wouldn’t say the plot is incredible, nor is the acting. I mean, it’s okay. I’m only just one episode in, so I think it might actually be in the spirit of parody? In that case, I’m all in.

Genos vs Mad Cyborg theories
(Crossposted from reddit)
These are probably incoherent ramblings. I’ve been speculating on what could potentially happen in the Mad Cyborg arc, and what would happen if Genos were to face off against it. I’ve mapped out some pathways here.
Genos one-shots the Mad Cyborg
Even after getting the greatest upgrade, losing Dr. Kuseno and preparing years for this face-off… his new upgrade or the mad cyborg’s surprising weakness allows him to one-shot it. Then he would get no satisfaction at all from killing him, which ties in nicely with ONE’s theme: being hellbent on revenge isn’t worth it. Instead, work toward a new path—which was what Genos was doing (learning how to live like a human teenager with Saitama) before Drive Knight came along and pointed him toward MC… SCREW YOU, DK! Genos will also realise how Saitama feels about ‘ultimate power’ after oneshotting: ultimate power does not grant one satisfaction at all.
There's another thing that might fit under this theory heading: The Mad Cyborg doesn't even remember Genos. He's either too crazy to remember him, he was too mindless when following orders when he destroyed the town or in too much of a blood frenzy and doesn't remember individuals, or he simply doesn't remember Genos. This can make Genos super angry and oneshots him.
Genos goes on a rampage like MC
Dr. Kuseno faked his death to try and push Genos over the edge of sanity. We already see the cracks in Genos and Saitama’s relationship forming ocer the past few webcomic chapters. There’s no denying that Saitama just isn’t the right guy to help Genos deal with loss and just—his emotions right now. Plus, we see earlier in a panel where Genos was getting super mad after hearing about MC from DK and was about to lose control (as stated by him, too) before he saw Saitama’s face in the clouds and calmed down. So, we can conclude that Saitama is the only person (especially now that Dr. Kuseno is gone) keeping Genos sane. The gap between Genos and Saitama is growing, physically and psychologically—Genos was even disrespectful to him and sent him away. Saitama is not equipped to guide Genos through this mess of emotions and hatred that runs deep. They are not good at understanding each other or communicating on the same wavelength. It doesn’t help that Saitama has that dead fish expression nearly all the time even when Kuseno died and that he was the strongest guy but still couldn’t save him.
These guys seriously need to learn to talk things out.
The seeds were even planted all the way back when Neo Heroes were introduced and Genos thought Saitama didn’t notice him when they sparred for the second time. So I think Saitama might not be there to keep Genos in check when he faces off with the MC and as a result Genos falls into the same fate and goes mad as well. Or, Saitama could arrive just on time and save him—speak his magic, just like Amai Mask and Garou, and remind Genos of himself again.
God offers Genos his hand
It is heavily speculated and implied that God only visits those who are in the pits of despair and desperation to grant them the way out—ultimate power. Genos, even after his latest upgrade, might still be too weak for the MC and as a result God reaches out his hand to Genos. And Genos takes it. This ties in nicely with what Genos already thinks about himself (see this awesome review on manga ch. 186, Genos and Saitama’s second sparring match.)—he cannot see how powerful he’s become, only that he’s still weaker than Saitama. So even though he can easily defeat dragon-level monsters, he still can’t beat the MC, and hates himself for it (poor guy…)
Anyway, the next stage then happens—he could fight Saitama, because ultimately, all of God’s victims gained ultimate power but lost themselves. If this happens, I think Saitama would eventually save him, just like he did with Garou, but hopefully with a little more nuance. There’s no way he would kill/maim/capture his best friend unless Genos absolutely HAS to be stopped (might be talking about a bigger threat than Garou here. He’d be more uncontrollable than Garou too—Garou at least was still clinging onto a thread of his humanity because deep down inside he wanted to be a hero, but Genos… his goal isn’t to be a hero, but to take vengeance. To destroy.)
Genos IS the Mad Cyborg.
I know this theory used to circulate around a lot, but I thought i should include it here anyway because I think it’s pretty interesting. Basically, Genos was the MC all along—meaning he was the one who slaughtered his family and burned his town to the ground. I see this as two ways:
He actually did have memory of killing his family and literally everything we’e been told is fake. He used to work for The Organisation or the evil side and killed his family willingly (i would believe it was brainwashing and they wanted him to kill them for a ‘good cause’) but then had his memory wiped afterward so he now believes what he told Saitama (i really don’t believe Genos is evil though.)
Genos’s memory was not intact even when he killed his family. Dr. Kuseno/DK/Bofoi implanted fake memories in him.
So, after he realises that everything he had been striving for, dedicating himself body, mind, and soul and even sacrificing his humanity for, was a complete lie… he hates himself more than he ever had and decides to self-destruct (and just when i thought he got rid of his suicidal tendency!) lest he go on a rampage again. hopefully he doesn’t because Saitama is here to save the day… only that Saitama was sent off by him… No. I refuse to believe Saitama wouldn’t arrive on time to save him.
Genos and Saitama fight each other/face-off against each other
There are multiple ways that could’ve lead up to this point:
Genos goes mad/on a rampage and fights Saitama (I doubt Saitama would fight back, though.)
Genos takes God’s hand, gaining ultimate power but losing himself (as all of God’s victims do) and fights Saitama
Drive Knight is actually the mastermind and killed off/made Bofoi his pawn long ago.
(DK was created by Bofoi but turned against him. Is DK the MC? Was he not actually mad? Was he created to be like the MC but went against Bofoi’s wishes?)
Bofoi could have nothing to do with the Mad Cyborg or The Organisation. So far, only DK told Genos that Bofoi was his enemy and that Bofoi created him (?) and that it’s in Bofoi’s stronghold. And ultimately, we don’t really know if DK is trustworthy.
We know Bofoi’s goal is to gain control over everyone using his robots. We wouldn’t put it past him to do a test run on the MC by sending it to destroy a town—destroying EVERYONE in a town isn’t a rampage… it’s murder. Controlled murder.
It seems to me that DK is planting all the seeds here… sus.
The Mad Cyborg took God’s hand
And lost himself. That’s what would happen to Genos too.
Genos had said that even saitama may have trouble defeating MC (which is probably not true. saitama is saitama) but because of this declaration we can’t completely dismiss the fact that MC is super powerful even if Saitama could still defeat it in one punch.
Well, thanks for reading this unorganised ramblings if you made it this far! i hope Saitama comes to some epiphany during the climax and saves Genos….

📚 Emma – Jane Asuten (124/545)
I forgot to post the past days, so here I am catching up! Yesterday, English class was nice and fun, but I'm trying to be more fierce with my students and make them speak more English in class... hopefully, I'll get to my goal soon. Anyway, I think they enjoyed the kahoot I created for our content review.
Today was super nice, because I, along with my family, went to see the presentation of some army pilots (1st pic) and it was amusing to see the people on the same place "woaaah"ing with each maneuver the airplanes did. Things that bring people together <3 little reminder: a Brazilian created the airplane. Then, at night, I went out to dinner with my family and I had a very cute outfit on :3
As you can see, no study was done this weekend (apart from french). My excuse is that I did all my assignments already and didn't feel like studying, actually.
🌰March 31: Are you studying any languages? Which?
Yes! I'm focusing on French, but also doing some Duolingo activities in Spanish sometimes. Unrelated, but I sent my very first message in French to a French person and she said my level was very good for someone who has been studying for a year only 🥹🥹
🍂April 1: Tell us a perfect activity to do with your friends or partner during Fall.
Hmm I'd say going to a cafeteria to get a warm drink or going to a bookstore to complain about the book prices.
🌰April 2: What emotions do you link to this season?
I'm really not sure, but maybe a bit of gloom? However, Fall so far has been nice to me!

Laura's personal review of Jedi Survivor; spoilers ahead !
The game overall has a few bugs but since playing it on release that isn't too surprising. There are some game breaking mechanics though, like your alternative Force powers just stop working sometimes and you need to go back to the title screen in order to fix them. If you are playing on PC, the FSR ( AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 ) makes the game visually fuzzy and there is nothing you can do about it. Hopefully they will implement DLSS. The fuzziness is worse around Cal's character model. This doesn't effect the frame rate at all either so its just visually something you'd have to get used to a bit.
The fighting mechanics start out simple but get a bit more complicated later in the game. You can learn additional moves through the skill tree that can add to the arsenal but I think that is a bit overwhelming. At least for me. Lightsaber combat feels nice, you get quite a bit more selection on stances.
Story wise I think its very well written with a few things here and there that might need some clearing up later. Like how Cal is aware that the Republic was thwarted by a Sith Lord, was this something Cere just knew or found out from someone and then just told Cal or is this just something Cal just knows? I love the utilization of The Path as a story point, building a hope of something more like with the rebuilding of the Jedi Archives. Or at least the attempt at it.
The fight with Vader was both expected and unexpected, I say this because we faced Vader in the last game and I am aware of him being around but didn't really think I'd see him again.
I know a lot of people are going to thump me for this but Cere's fight against Vader was actually really unique and cool. The very fact that she can hold up for as long as she did for that fight is amazing in itself. It is a contrast to her last altercation with him where she got yeeted into an abyss almost immediately. I say I am going to be thumped because Vader is often portrayed to the masses as a very very powerful and unyielding force to deal with. 99% of the people who go up against him are dead on the spot. But I like believing that all though he is this powerful being that has so much power, that resistance isn't entirely impossible. Vader isn't perfect and he is far from the warrior he used to be. Giving Cere this piece was really a nice touch to her story and made her death all the more impactful.
Cal's fight with the dark side is a common one but done in a way he had to deal with due to circumstances. The fact that Jedi are defined really by being touched by darkness and depending on how they react to it is what makes them who they are. The fact that Cal is doing this without a Master's guidance, without other Jedi peers is both devastating and painful to watch. But you see that his training and experiences have shaped him into a very good person and a very good Jedi. He learns to lean on his friends and those who care about him and that is so important.
Facing darkness you learn that it is something he still contends with even at the end of the game. It is a nice touch and something that adds incredible substance to his character.
Dealing with Bode's betrayal was hard for me as it was for the characters involved. You grew to love him, to look forward to his interactions only to be stabbed in the back and feeling almost empty. I liked that they interacted with his daughter like an adult -- they told her they wanted to ask her father to give back something he stole. And his daughter seeing how her father has become was the right way to handle the situation rather than Cal going in and murdering her father out of hatred.
This game all in all has a 8.5/10 from me, if they would fix the bugs and the visual effects it would be higher. The world is incredibly huge and there is still so much to do after the fact. I look forward to playing more later.

REVIEW
I loved this episode!! It was so interesting :O. The change of format for Mateo's dream was HILARIOUS but also super cool and lowkey heartbreaking xd :'(( 😭. And outside of the dream I just felt so awful for him :'(((. He did make a mistake in the past, but he definitely needs to forgive himself. But seeing Owen and Nancy support him was really nice :). Also, the calls were great! The arrow one was lowkey sweet :)). Also, Wyatt o.o. It's definitely gonna be a difficult road, with the training and whatnot, but I'm proud of him :). And proud of Judd for being willing to help him :D. Anyway, that's a bit in depth for before the character bits lol, but yeah. I really enjoyed the storylines this episode :)). We haven't had a Mateo focus in a while, and it's nice to see Wyatt too, so the main plots were nice together :D. But yeah, it was great 🥰.
Also, quick note: partway through the main paragraph a second ago I wrote it today, the day of the next episode. As I write this it starts in 10 minutes, so this will be super short and I'll edit it later lol. But yeah!
Now it's time for the. . .
