The main audience for fan fiction is the author first and foremost. Write what you want to write because at the end of the day, someone will always have problems with it. It could be the purest thing on earth and someone will go "oH bUt I cAnT ReLaTe-" or "tHaTs OuT oF cHaRaCtEr"

It's fiction. With fictional characters. Not everyone will be able to relate. Not everyone wants to relate. Relating to something is perfectly fine and makes the experience even better (depending on some aspects - going extreme here, but it's not healthy to relate to a scene where a character enjoys hurting ppl or animals out of cruelty and for enjoyment ex. bullying someone irl)

But just because you don't relate to it doesn't mean others can't enjoy it. Also why did you have to bring ED into this lmao? There are different types not just ppl who starve themselves, so idk why you're brining this up anon. Idk how that makes your statement true? It's fine to be upset that your fav author doesn't write for a certain thing anymore but that doesn't give you the right to bash them for it.

And don't generalize everyone in that echo chamber of yours (when you called every ED victim fat phobic) - I just know you're in a community that thinks just like that. Now all the survivors have the same styled rooms, same furniture, and various clothes for all of them to wear-- Aside from the special clothing Lady Nightingale would have them wear for anyone can guess her amusement. However, the room you are contained in is massive, full of wires, computers, and other marvelous things Luca has never seen before.

You float around your tank, a giant ball with often purple mist within to keep you in a state of calm. You supposedly are a new survivor, a creature to level the playing field when it comes to dealing with those of the divine like Dream Witch or Feaster, or as you told Luca: you want to annoy them for a bit.

He can never single out your face while you are in the glass ball, you have no physical form constructed and seem unable to make up your mind on an appearance.

“Luca, imagine me.” You told him as he worked, and studied the tech used to keep you contained and translate your words. “What do you see when you hear my voice?” He shivers when he feels your presence touching his mind, it is strange for when he feels you within he feels stable. “You need to focus, dear one.”

The longer he spends time with you, the more he finds you show, or attempt to show attraction. After months of studying his fragile fragmented mind, there are others you have poked your way it but Priestess told you that is invasive.

“Let me out.” You are gentle, nervous, “I shall dawn the skin you see me as.” The ball is opened once the gas has been filtered out, and you hiss in discomfort then relax as you link your mind to Luca to keep yourself in this reality. You have tried to explain this to both Priestess and Luca but it is a bit too complex for mortal minds to comprehend. “Wait!” He places a set of clothes he had found in his room one day. They are not in his size but they match the way he imagined your human form. “Put these on.”

A story similar to TFL yet different- let me explain.

Ahem. So the reader collage years have been pretty boring, no partying, no hooking up, no going out with friends (not that they have many anyway) - just focused on their studies. And They don't attempt to speak to boys because one, they didn't find themselves very appealing and didn't have the confidence, and two- they haven't been with anyone since their first boyfriend (who ended up leaving their hearts torn to shreds) and they found it hard to move on. But it was their last year of college and they were reflecting back on their college years and realized how boring the past year actually has been. So with a sudden surge idea, they made a bucket list to do all of the things they never did before; going to parties, drinking, being on hot girl business.

Including another list that included men throughout their classes that caught their eye- and they planned to sleep with all of them before graduating.

But what happens when old flames become lit again? (Aka the ex for drama)

Honestly first thing tht came to mind with this plot is like pervy!geto as the guy she has an eye on & then her ex is like dilf!toji, who really took advantage of her bc of the age gap they had?

Senior year the reader goes to the party with the intent of “coincidentally” running into Geto & one thing leads to another, she ends up playing spin the bottle with him & they get involved from there.

Things are good up until her ex boyfriend, Toji, pops into the picture again but for obvious reasons such as him being toxic, she wants to avoid him & then Geto dislikes Toji because of the things he’s heard abt him & how he ends up treating the reader :)

SO YEAH, I love the plot, its just too similar to tfl for me to feel comfortable writing (yes ik its different ofc but a lot of scenes would mirror one another ngl) 🤷‍♀️ lmk what u think of what I came up with tho & maybe I’ll write tht🕺

such an interesting line in retrospect cuz yeah he said this but he still immediately went out of his way to defend iris, something which hes only ever done for edgeworth btw. like he still had faith in her despite mentally scorning her as a coward.. like was this supposed to be another example of phoenix knowing more than the player, like how in aa2 he knew abt edgeworths "suicide" while we the players didnt? is this aa3 hinting that phoenix suspected tht there mustve been another explanation for dahlia's/iris' actions? cuz if thats the case then that was horribly written lmfao.

like idkkk like id like to think that this would indicate that phoenix is internally more conflicted abt dahlia/iris than his external actions seems to show, but still its like whyyy did he go out of his way to defend iris then. he didnt have any reason to think that the girl he dated and the girl who tried to poison him were different people. or maybe he did idk. IDK the writing of iris' character was just very blwefhkjds like shes just this mysteriousss character who looks incredibly similar to our evil ex. and because spirit channelling is on the table and also bc we arent certain on what happened to dahlia we have no idea who this iris girl actually is. is she dahlia or is she not. its like i said its just... it seems to me like aa3's whole thesis is about withholding faith in a person despite all the contradictory evidence, and this is reflected in the way that phoenix still believes that the girl he dated is not the girl who tried to poison him. except with the way that aa3 is written this just makes phoenix look unhealthy and delusional bc there is no basis on why phoenix should believe that, because we never once see how phoenix remembers iris. and with this line of him calling dahlia/iris coward, but also saying this shit at the end

our timeline? we got acquainted in europe under some foreign secret organization tht isn’t relevant, except the fact tht it sealed our fate. i always knew he had grandiose aspirations, and he of course saw through tht i was a girl of reveries. we were both big thinkers, reflected in our shared interest in philosophy, future-oriented mindsets, etc. however, even so, he had a goal which didn’t match up w/ my morals…(yes this is him being the super evil bad >:( guy) so one day, he disappeared. left the organization (he was only using it anyway, per usual) & i never saw him again until i was in yokohama’s PM and he decided to find me himself. we came…a long way !! (aka slowburn enemies to lovers)

maybe he still is the super evil bad guy, but he has a soft side too. fedya dances with me in halls only lit by candles if we’re both still up past midnight. his love language is def words of affirmation, but he’s also still annoying so he writes everything in russian, making me solve even more puzzles to read his words. (very worth it though ‪‪❤︎‬). and of course…he loves to sketch me, esp when he catches me doing anything i’m passionate about. :)

1. favorite fic you wrote this year

man… i will always always love of linked arms and bruised hearts :’)) i know that the writing style may be just average but i have such a personal connection to that story. maybe its because i definitely self projected but i will always love friendships!!! i feel that its become such an important and recurring theme in my fics, if i’ll be honest <3

another favorite of mine is familiarity (it’s all sticky) <3 definitely an idea ive had for a long time and i had lovely @wuahae betaread it :’)) its very personal to me… idk i like to think of it as a fic that commemorates not only how much i do l*ve that loser but also how much i love cat <3

idk if this is cheating but of guitar strings and peeled tangerines earns its spot too!! the outline i made since the second half of the year and ive really been hyped and happy writing it <3 i feel like its a reflection of the nooks and crannys of moni imo </3 so its crazy that it’ll be even more personal than of linked arms and bruised hearts

3. favorite line/scene you wrote this year

OH I DEFINITELY HAVE SO MUCH FAVORITE ONES 😭😭 and alot of them will be from of linked arms and bruised hearts im afraid… i have a bad habit of rereading my works to see what i can improve on or what couldve been changed but also its a way to reflect on my growth as a writer

first, we have the scenes where reader and jichang come back to cheongju for the holidays :’) i think its just sooo domestic imo and it really does have u reflect on what reader and jichang have <3 i personally love the scene where reader finds out jichang has been keeping clippings of their articles <3 it does smth to my lil heart <3

another one is of course the train ride back home… idk to me its just a very sentimental scene about the idea of home and how they find it in each other :’))) particularly these passages always do smth to me

another scene in particularly loved writing is the scene between kevin and reader where they talked about reader’s life… they were discussing editorship and possible topics for the opinion piece and i just thought that the whole reflection of it was beautiful :’)

now for of guitar strings and peeled tangerines… ugh so much to say… first off i loved writing the scene where reader comes back to town… its the whole progression of them getting off the station, meeting juhak again, arriving at their father’s restaurant, u know the vibes :’)) in between every passage, u really see how much grief and resentment they hold towards this town.

The waves are strong enough to tip your balance. You do everything to stand on your own feet. The image of Jacob you drew on the sand has been washed off—it’s your fault for drawing it too close to the shore. 

i know u particularly love this line and i think i do too now :’) smth i didnt know i would enjoy </3

another one i loved writing is the flashback… the first time we see how much peeled tangerines mean between the two… just so much astonishment joy and love <3

rah i think my favorite charas to write abt were definitely the friendgroup in of linked arms and bruised hearts! i also really loved writing moonbae and reader :’))) to me, they just have so much love for each other!!! it was just so nice to see them grow in my eyes as well

if were talking abt members tho, i did love writing about eric :’))) i know i couldnt give justice to the plot with my whack writing style but it was a treat to write abt that lil guy!

the first multi-chaptered fic i wrote was for another fandom and it is still incomplete because although i had a vague idea of the structure i didn't draft it out enough lmao. i've found that the more i plan ahead the easier it will be and the more motivation i get to continue writing.

but that doesn't mean whatever i plan is fixed !! i have strayed quite a bit from my original plan for tht lol. but my endings will always stay the same because i often come up with those quite early, so they're usually what i work towards

18. do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? how do you come up with titles?

ooh it really depends. i just realised i have actually have done all 3 for each of the good omens fics i've published?? how fun

blood in my eyes: the whole idea from this fic was based on the song the origin of love from the hedwig and the angry inch musical, so i had the title ready before writing it.

transitional heart taxidermy: this fic had SO many working titles. i came up with it after finishing chapter 1 because i wanted to publish it first, but i went through sooo many variations and eventually landed on this, which just clicked lol and i don't even know if the title makes sense to anyone else but it does to me! i think it's a good reflection of crowley's journey throughout the fic. unfortunately

sunflower fingerprints: this was a oneshot, and i don't think i even HAD a working title while writing it because i wrote it in less than 2 days. the title came to me after i wrote a scene that i felt encapsulated the whole fic and i renamed my doc after finishing it.

but yeah i usually try to make my titles represent the entirety of what my fic is supposed to be, and maybe have a double meaning in there somewhere

58. what part of the writing process do you enjoy the most?

brainstorming for sure. every time i come up with an idea it makes me so happy for like the next few hours or days lmaooo and then i remember i have to write it and 😒

but sometimes i do enjoy the writing process immensely, especially when i come up with an overarching metaphor or analogy or something to work into my fics

i completely agree that at times a personal experience can enhance analysis. and i also understand your wariness in including personal experiences that you feel others might not get or might mock you for.

it does aggravate me when people use personal experiences too much because those are niche and are not necessarily reflective of a structural phenomenon. plus it always derails an argument because any disagreement is seen as disagreeing with someone's personal experience.

i just try to never use personal experiences especially when talking about structural issues as a way to refine my arguments and not get caught up in my own world view with my own experiences

when it becomes an issue is like u said how ppl would feel like ur arguing against their own experiences or when ppl conflate the pathos a story wants to invoke with bad writing (from the top of my head recall the kneejerk reactions to the last 10 mins or so of the ep that shnt be nmed). side note how else is the ‘structure’ formed w/o a pattern of experiences shared by or enforced on multiple ppl/groups of ppl? if tht make sense.
