I’ve been inhaling media at an unbelievable pace since I was a child so I probably had some kind of ships I can’t remember because I didn’t know the meaning of shipping, especially during The Olde Warrior Cats Stage of my childhood so I’m going to go with Percy Jackson/Annabeth Chase from Percy Jackson and the Olympians because little Deryn went feral for them.

Partner and I have been consuming a lot of anime recently lol. We just finished Dragon Maid last night which was a surprisingly queer and nice show. I want to rewatch either Jujutsu Kaisen or the Mugen Train Arc of Demon Slayer and also Dragon Age: Absolution.

Last Movie:

What was the last movie I watched?? I haven’t watched a lot of movies lately, I think it was probably a documentary for my last semester. I’m getting the hankering to rewatch the LOTR trilogy though.

I think it was Kick Back (the opening to Chainsaw Man) while we were driving back from the city. On my own it was ‘cut my hair’ by MICO which scartches my brain just right.

Currently Reading:

The Other Side of Horsemanship: My Journey of Unlearning & Healing Trauma by Shelby Dennis. I’ve been following her (@ sdequus on instagram) for awhile and amending a lot of my horse-related training methods and thoughts with the scientific studies she posts and trying an R+ approach when I was still working with Hugo. It worked wonders and I’ve been devouring her book. A lot of it really resonates as someone who’s also been working with horses since a very very young age and has had to unlearn a lot of not-so-great training practices. She does a wonderful job of admitting the mistakes she’s made while also acknowledging her growth, how hard growth can be, and what those mistakes were rooted in. A lot of what she writes and posts about is something I think every horse person should take in, but one definitely has to be ready to sit with some uncomfy feelings about what the horse world normalizes-- *shuts off equestrian-Deryn before she runs off on this post*

Currently Craving:

Horse time lol. I went from riding and caring for a horse daily while I was in college to not a single horse in the almost-month I’ve been out here. Going out to meet some potential people who want their horses ridden this weekend though so fingers crossed.

(Also craving a specific latte from a coffee chain that doesn’t exist here. I think it might’ve been localized to my college city, but their December special was peppermint and white choclate which was delicious and the coffee shop here doesn’t have peppermint syrup ;--; )

What's your Pride Month head canons for your oc's and favorite characters?

Okay... so. First Pride Month headcanon: none of my ocs are straight. This is the biggest collection of gays, bis, pans, and gray-aces out there. Some of them are in hetero relationships, but they are still bi/pan.

Standing out we have Mysen of Denerim, who is gay and on the asexual spectrum - I'd call him homoromantic graysexual, and in a loving polycule with Alistair Theirin and Benny Cousland. (please ask me questions about them cause I wanna fill out their relationship btw)

We have Mila Cooper, who is also on the asexual spectrum - I'd call her demiromantic asexual. She is not sex-repulsed and frequently has sexual relations with her husband Fenris, but it is not something she requires or feels a need for, simply an activity she enjoys sharing with Fenris.

We've got bi disaster Morgan Walker, and gay disaster Cal Hawke.

Other bi/pan OCs include: Ava Hawke, Vylandin, Lissa Surana (demisexual), Agatha Iyris, Cassander Shepard, Cordelia Shepard, and Liam Trevelyan

Hi! Um, odd question to spring on you out of the blue, but if all your Wardens got together in a pub somewhere, how would they all get on?

Griffon, Mahariel and Orlena are Too Autistic for this shit and find a quiet corner to escape to. They end up having a good conversation about the stress of the Blight and of other people’s expectations and Griffon ends up asking Mahariel and Orlena some stuff about Daish and Circle culture they want to know but have been awkward asking about. In return, Mahariel asks Griffon about some noble stuff he doesn’t get. Griffon doesn’t get it either. Neither does Orlena. They complain about nobles.

Meanwhile Lorrel is adopting Everyone, whether they like it or not. Vari likes it a lot because this is essentially her grandmother and she’s really cool, and Seren’s really excited about having a city elf declare that she’s family now. She wants to know Everything about life in an alienage, which Vari and Lorrel kind of agree is “it sucks but also we’re the Greatest, and will fight anyone else who says it sucks.”

Elora tells Lorrel she doesn’t need or want a grandmother, or any family. In between mocking her little brother Thosk for all his shitty life choices. Which Thosk takes, because okay fair he has made some really shitty life choices. But some of the rest of you must have made shitty choices too right??? Isaline agrees that yes, she did. She’s not going to go into it. Mags says she did everything wrong, which Isaline and Lorrel tell her they’re sure isn’t true. Mihren says humans deserve what they get. Lacha isn’t comparing her mistakes to some fucking dwarven noble’s, and would prefer not to speak to Elora or Thosk at all actually. 

Annabeth is…… not going to be doing at all well considering she did a lot of Terrible Things in the pursuit of stopping the Blight Whatever The Cost, at the knowledge that 13 other people were able to stop the Blight without being fucking terrible about it. But if we’re being nice, we can have pre-dead family and Blight Annabeth, who is incredibly down to party and hang out with all this fun new people and hey do any of them want to make out maybe?? Therlia has no objections to that.

Mags is very shy and awkward, and Lacha, who doesn’t want to be here at all and sees no reason to hang out with these people, sighs and starts talking to her. She tells Mags a lot of stuff about her life and her own feelings on leadership and People, and ends up giving Mags some blunt but very helpful advice. Mags isn’t sure whether or not Lacha likes her at all (she does).

Therlia, Isaline and Mihren end up having a very deep discussion about how terrible Circles are and the stuff they suffered there. Seren tells them her girlfriend was made Tranquil but would prefer to go back to talking to her City Elf friends instead of saying more about it. After a while of just talking about her abusive templar ex, Isaline lets slip his name. Therlia and Mihren are very quick to agree that yeah, Cullen Rutherford is the fucking worst. Seren looks back over and vehemently agrees. Orlena approaches the main table for the first time that night to tell everyone that yeah that guy’s a massive creep. No one else likes him either.

So tl;dr there are some disagreements and then everyone bands together to talk about how much they hate cullen rutherford

oh gosh i spent a really long time trying to come up with a good scenario to ask you about....i dunno, i think the one scene for me that always kinda DEFINED my wardens was their first impression of duncan so like???? you could talk about that if you want! :3

Huh, I never really felt that defined my Wardens for me. But ye, is still nice question!

Therlia was mostly just interested in having a person from outside the tower around, and asking him about life outside the tower. She liked that he didn’t look down on her for being a mage.

Vari disliked him quite a lot, because he’s a dick at the start of the Tabris origin and she feels he could have done a lot more to help rescue Shianni and the others.

Elora is quite impressed by him, and thinks Grey Wardens sound great. (Not that she’d want to join, she’s just been given her first military command.)

Isaline sees him as a Proper Person, because he’s not a mage, and therefore treats him with respect. She’s a little confused and nervous about the fact that he’s treating her like a person too.

Mahariel hates him because he blames Duncan for Tamlen being gone. And unlike Vari, he doesn’t mind being a dick about Duncan in front of Alistair, too.

Lacha doesn’t really care who he is when she sees him at the Provings, and ignores him because she has a job to do and Beraht won’t be happy if she gets distracted talking to a a human. After their actual first conversation, she quite likes him because he treats her with respect and lets her bring Rica with her, but she’s also suspicious of the fact that he’s treating her with respect.

Annabeth thought he was hot, and that it would be fun to fuck him on her first day in charge of Castle Cousland.

Lorrel I’m not sure about, because I know they’ve met before the origin story. So when he turns up at that point her impression is “hello friend it’s good to see you, please don’t recruit any of my grandchildren into your cult”, but idk how their actual first meeting went.

1. From the Ashes: F!Cousland x King Alistair 

Though admittedly this project has stalled for the moment, it has been my passion-project since November 2018. I have done a lot of character and worldbuilding for it and poured hours of research into history (my passion!) to try and make Ferelden’s politics and cultures even richer! It follows Baraneth and Alistair through their journey ruling Ferelden (DAO-DAI) and I’m so excited to keep sharing their journey. 

Right now we are just entering 9:33 Dragon, right after Baraneth and Alistair’s coronation. 

This story has been mired with self-doubt and discouragement, but I really want to try and push through for it.

2. Moments in Time: LOTRO Wulfwryn x Raenor compilation 

I bring this fic up every single time but it has some of my favorite drabbles I’ve ever written within it. This was my Fictober 2019 project where I first got into writing LOTRO and as such got into writing (and shipping) Wulfwryn and Raenor. 

It was one of the hardest writing challenges I’ve successfully made it through, as it was smack dab in the middle of my first university semester. The interaction I had with readers on this fic was fantastic and still makes me happy to go back and read. 

While this fic covers a wide swath of topics it is bursting with romance of the sweet, snarky, angsty, and spicy varieties in small 300-1000 bitesized pieces.

3. Her Sweet Kiss: [smut] Raenor x Wulfwryn meeting

This was my first shot at writing smut ever and while that’s not the reason its on this list, it’s definitely something I’m quite pleased about lol. More importantly it documents the first meeting between Wuflwryn and Raenor and that makes it such an important key in their story to me. I’m just so proud of myself for finally getting it written.

4. Building Storm: Percabeth Fantasy AU

Building Storm is a rewrite of a scene from a very old (circa 2012) percabeth fanfic I wrote called Rebels Rise. I wanted to see how I had improved as a writer and I did not disappoint myself! 

It follows Annabeth as she tries to rescue Percy from captivity by an angry royal court and is just a spliced out scene from the greater narrative. 

...part of me wants to go back and “rewrite” the entirety of Rebel’s Rise. But new and improved because the old one was...*coughs* interesting as @shortmandown​ can attest to.

5. Long Awaited Reunions: commission piece [SWTOR]

HO BOY this was a piece I did for @lumielles​ where Terrance and Idan finally got their reunion after 7 years apart and it hit me with a shit ton of feels. And we know I love some good angsty feels. I’m really proud of this piece just because of the raw emotion I feel like I captured, especially because I had to convey scenes all through emotion and touch because Terrance (POV character) can’t see!

I actually wrote a little ficlet of this but ANYWAY. I have a HC that my Cousland ends up marrying Nathaniel Howe and she doesn’t go off to search for the Calling cure until closer to the middle of Inquisition. So when the Chantry goes BOOM she hears that Anders was behind it and had Leliana find him/send him and Hawke to Amaranthine so they’d have shelter and protection. Ofc she and Nate give Anders shit bc he did end up killing some innocents but she backs him and returns Pounce to him

While my Couslands are cool with Nathaniel bc like, what his father did wasn’t his fault, my Warden Maura is not. Maura was a knight of the Couslands who became a Warden at the end of the origin story with my Annabeth Cousland and was Awakening Warden after Annabeth did the Ultimate Sacrifice.

Maura hated Howe a lot and didn’t want to see anyone related to him ever again, so they sent Nate away and didn��t let him become a Warden. They get really close to Anders though and the two of them eventually end up dating. Since Nate wasn’t recruited, Maura’s the Warden stuck in the Deep Roads in act 3 and while they and Anders reconnect a bit then, Anders is worried that Maura’s going to hate him after he blows up the Chantry. They stand by him though, and then help him and Justice escape Kirkwall afterwards.

What do you do WRT the bewitched Templar & the Desire demon in Kinloch Hold during the Broken Circle quest in DA: O?

Most of them killed the demon (and, reluctantly, the templar) because they value not being controlled and I guess happiness from something real over the happiness the demon was giving. And Elora was worried she’d move on to someone else after, and Lacha was just really freaked out by demons and magicy stuff.

Maura (who is a knight of Highever and doing the Circle while their Cousland, Annabeth, does Redcliffe) left them alone because they are basically quite lonely and unhappy and have lost their own family and, as a knight, empathise with the templar putting his duty ahead of his wants. They feel the templar should have the opportunity to have a loving family, and realise it’s unlikely to happen any other way.
