Imagine if at some point after finding out about his true heritage HDW Wars gets sick but with every sneeze he accidentally sneezes fire and no one can figure out how to stop it.
So I don't know if I want this to be how Zelda actually finds out but I couldn't resist writing this—
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"No no, seriously, don't go in there!" Mask says with an increasing amount of panic, moving to block Zelda's path to Link's tent. "He's like, uh, he's really sick! Like, like throwing up and coughing and sneezing on everything, it's super gross! You don't want to go in there!"
Zelda raises an eyebrow.
“Mask, I'm more then well-aquainted with 'super gross sickness', as you put it. It’ll take more then that to stop me from visiting Link.”
“But... you might get sick!” Mask quickly argues, and Zelda considers for a moment. Then she continues forward.
“That’s true. But I doubt five minutes to wish Link well and check up on him will hurt anything."
"W-well, he," Mask splutters as Zelda strides past, "he, he doesn't want to see you!"
"Oh, is that so?" Zelda asks a tad mischeviously. "Funny, a minute ago you said Proxi was busy and that Link was so sick he could barely speak. How is it that you know what he wants?"
"Uh... that was before he couldn't speak," Mask quickly adds, but Zelda merely strides around him, nearly to the entrance of Link's tent. "Wait wait wait!"
Zelda pauses with her hand on the flap, looking down at Mask, who's still trying to block her while sporting a very odd expression on his face.
"...Is anything I say going to keep you out?" he asks, sounding like he already knows the answer.
"I'm afraid not."
Mask grimaces.
"Well... alright. If he asks, tell him I tried, and don't say I didn't warn you," he mutters, and steps aside. "You might wanna watch your hair."
Zelda raises an eyebrow, but Mask doesn't elaborate, and she enters the tent.
The first thing she notices is the smell of smoke in the air, just thick enough to be noticeable upon entering. The small lantern lit on the table doesn’t seem big enough to make the tent smell as smoky as it does, but nothing else seems to be on fire, and her attention is quickly drawn to the cot in the corner.
Link looks miserable, curled up under a thin blanket, dressed in only his undertunic and pants, and shivering hard enough that Zelda can see it from where she stands. Tune is sitting next to him with a bucket at his feet, and the sailor looks just as worried as she feels.
Tune looks up as she walks in, startles, then turns a glare on Mask.
"Mask, you—"
"I know, I know. Look she has to find out eventually, why not now?" Mask huffs, crossing his arms.
"He didn't want her to find out like this, he wanted to actually tell her," Tune hisses, and Mask has the decency to look a bit guilty.
"Have me find out what, exactly?" Zelda interrupts, and Tune and Mask both look at her, strange expressions on their faces. Neither of them gets a chance to speak though, as Link suddenly groans, and screws his face up.
“...Uh oh.”
"Hit the deck!" Mask yelps, and Zelda has just enough time to wonder what in the name of the goddesses is going on before Link lets out a loud sneezing cough.
Which sends a small burst of flame straight across the tent.
Zelda jumps back in surprise, and Tune quickly grabs the bucket at his feet and splashes water on the part of her skirts that ended up catching the edge of Link’s flames.
Smoke drifts from Zelda's now-doused skirt, and Link groans, Tune gently patting him on the head.
Zelda stares.
“How on earth..?” she breathes, and Tune and Mask look up at her, then at each other. “Is he all right? Is this a curse? How is it that he’s breathing fire?”
“Sneezing fire, technically,” Mask corrects, and Tune elbows him.
“Look, it’s... it's a little hard to explain,” Tune says carefully, and Zelda crosses her arms, suspicions suddenly raised.
“Was this one of you two’s faults?”
“No! Of course not! Look, it’s just...” Tune says, obviously struggling, and Mask sighs and gestures to Link.
“Turns out his dad is Volga,” he says simply.
Zelda blinks.
“Link’s... father. Is Volga. The dragon knight.”
Mask and Tune nod.
“That’s the one,” Mask says.
A lot of odd things that’ve happened in the past month suddenly add up in Zelda's head, strange looks, awkward avoidances, the uncertain glint that sometimes appears in Link's eyes. Zelda had assumed most of that was because of her hiding Sheik's identity (and she does still feel guilty about that), but Volga being Link's father...
Zelda’s head spins, but she doesn’t have time to ask further questions, as Link drags his eyes open with a groan.
“Captain?” Tune asks, and Link looks at him, face haggard with exhaustion. His gaze drifts around the tent, pausing on Mask for a moment, then drifting past him and settling on Zelda. Link stares at her, startles, then pushes himself upward, raising a hand in a shaky salute before Mask shoves him back down.
“Your Highness,” he croaks, and Zelda winces at how painful his voice sounds.
“At ease Link, you don’t need to treat me like that,” she assures, almost wishing she was still in disguise as Sheik. Link was never so concerned with protocol around her then. “Especially not while you’re sick.”
“‘S just a cough,” he rasps, and Tune sighs.
“Yeah, a cough that’s making you sneeze fire. Not exactly ‘just’ a cough.”
Link hums in a croaky way, then he startles as he realizes just what Tune has said, and looks at Zelda. Blue eyes meet blue, and Zelda can practically see the thoughts running rampant through Link's head.
"Y-your Highness, I'm—"
"Link," Zelda interrupts, her voice gentle. "Tune and Mask already told me. You don't need to hide it."
She sees him swallow, and Tune pushes his head back down to his pillow, a little frown appearing on his face when Link barely resists.
"So you... know," Link whispers, closing his eyes with a small cough. The action sends some smoke puffing from his lips. "My father's... Volga."
"Yes," Zelda replies, the shock beginning to fade, but still present.
There's always been something a little different about Link, something that set him apart from the other soldiers. Zelda had always thought it was more due to being the Hero, or the piece of Triforce he held, not... being related to a dragon.
She brushes her thoughts aside. "I apologize. Mask did his best to keep me out."
"She's too stubborn," Mask huffs, crossing his arms.
Tune's face hitches up in a smile. "Zeldas always are."
Link looks slightly more at ease, but still uncertain, and his eyes drag open again, circles dark beneath them.
"Princess," he begins in a rasp, "I know... it isn't much, but I promise you I am loyal to the crown. Volga is still my enemy. I wasn't a... aware of his relation to me until very... recently."
"Link, I didn't come in here to question your loyalties," Zelda says, pulling a chair over and sitting by his bed. "And I'm not in the practice of judging others on the actions of their parents. I heard you were ill, and came to see how you were doing."
Link blinks at her, and Zelda reaches a cautious hand out to feel his forehead, wincing at the heat radiating off of it.
"You have quite the fever," she says as she looks over at Tune, and he nods, eyebrows pinching together in worry.
"I know. We're not really sure what to do for him. We were just treating it normally, but then he started the fire thing..." he trails off, and scratches the back of his neck.
"Impa's getting a book that has some information on dragons in it though, she's hoping it'll help," Mask adds, and Zelda hums, pulling her hand back from Link’s forehead. She’d wondered where Impa had gone off to.
"I take it she's aware of this information too then?"
Something flickers in Tune's gaze. "She is."
Link screws his face up again, and Zelda dodges the flames that come out when he sneezes this time, Mask splashing some water on the corner of the tent the flames try to lick at.
“Uh... I’ll get more water,” he says as he looks down at the empty bucket, and slips out of the tent. Zelda is left alone with Tune and Link, and Tune sighs, brushing some of Link’s hair out of his face.
Zelda watches them in silence for a moment, Link’s raspy breathing the only sound in the tent.
“I hate to pry, especially while you’re sick, Link, but... when did you learn of your father?” Zelda finally asks, voice soft. “You said it was recently. Did Volga tell you?”
“No. It was before Cia split time,” he whispers. “That day she ended up... talking to me alone. She told me about Volga.”
Anger on Link’s behalf rises up in Zelda as he coughs again, from ending up alone with their enemy, from hearing such sensitive information from Cia of all people, from becoming such a major player in this war at all... but she tampers it down, and meets his eyes, dull with sickness.
“I’m sorry,” Zelda says quietly.
Link lets out a raspy sigh, and closes his eyes again. “I’ve had some time to... come to terms with it.”
He lets out another abrupt sneeze, flames shooting across the tent, and another several accompany it, the fire brighter each time. Zelda leaps to her feet, but before the flames can cause any damage, Tune whips out the wind waker and blows them all out.
The sneezes seems to have taken what’s left of Link’s strength, and he curls up again, looking exhausted as Tune lets out a sigh of relief. The younger hero pulls the blanket over Link’s shoulders as he tucks the wind waker back in his pocket, and then he smiles a little apologetically at Zelda.
“I think he could use some more rest,” he says, and Zelda nods, dusting some ashes off her skirts. She’s likely going to smell of smoke for a while.
“Of course. I need to be on my way anyway,” she sighs, not looking forward to going back to her maps and strategies.
Zelda looks down at Link, eyes closed in exhaustion, shoulders faintly shivering, the smell of smoke and sickness about him, and she swallows.
“I hope you feel better soon, Link.”
“Thank you your highness,” Link whispers in response, and sighs, seeming to fall asleep moments later.
“...he’s quite sick, isn’t he?” Zelda says once she’s sure he’s asleep.
“He could be worse, but... yeah,” Tune says quietly, then smiles at her. “But Impa will be back later, and I bet she’ll have some information for us. Link’ll be fine.”
“I’m sure he will. He’s terribly resilient,” Zelda says with a small smile of her own. “Thank you for looking after him.”
Tune shrugs. “Somebody’s gotta stop him from setting the whole camp on fire.”
Zelda can’t help her chuckle at that, and Tune lets out a laugh of his own as he walks her out, pausing at the tent flap.
“Princess... would you keep all of this to yourself?” Tune asks her, a strange expression flitting across his face. “Link’s still struggling with it, and if the rest of the army knew...”
“I won’t say a word,” Zelda promises, and Tune relaxes a hair. “Only to Impa, or you and Mask.”
“Thank you,” Tune says gratefully.
Zelda takes his hand and gives it a squeeze. “You’re welcome, Tune. I’ll try and come back once Impa returns, maybe we can all discuss this together.”
Tune’s eyes do something funny again at the mention of Impa. “Maybe. See you, Zelda.”
Zelda says goodbye in return, and Tune slips back inside the tent, a puff of ash accompanying him.
She stands there for a few moments longer, thinking about Link and Volga, and Impa a little as well. She’s curious about what this all means for Link, being part dragon (whole dragon?), and what he’s doubtlessly been going through since he found out.
She wonders how Impa found out about all of this as well. Did Link tell her? Or Tune perhaps? Was Link concerned about what him being related to their enemy would mean? And how long has Impa known of the identity of Link’s father?
Zelda shakes her head, scattering her thoughts, and begins the walk back to her tent.
“So many questions,” she sighs to herself, and rubs some more ashes from her skirts.
As if this war weren’t already complicated enough.

Which Link is Caesar to be stabbed (with fake knives)? Who’s the chain ganging up on (for fun) and why?
My immediate thought was Warriors— he could drape his scarf like a toga, and he’d be nice and dramatic about it, Really ham it up to the point where whoever is watching this production (some Zeldas maybe? Malon? Wind’s grandma and Aryll?) is totally enthralled. Problem is, having several people ganging up on him with knives (even fake ones) might not bring up the greatest memories 😅
So my revised pick would be... Legend. He has the dramatics for the role, I personally think he’s a pretty good actor, and (very probably) knows the hylian equivalent of Latin. He’s the perfect Caesar. Plus if they’re in Legend’s time, then...
Et tu, Ravio?

Hello ! I wonder, do you have some good wild angst fics ?
Thank you !
Certainly! I’ve written a few myself, so here’s a mix of ones I’ve written and ones by other people.
I know there’s a lot of good Wild angst fics out there that I’m not aware of (and I’m sick today so I didn’t go looking too hard, I know there’s good ones I’ve read that I didn’t put here 😅), so if people have good ones to share please do!
And of course, mind the tags on all of these :)
By me:
Muffled screams/magical exhaustion — Wild gets Twilight’s shadow crystal inflicted on him against his will. Part 1 and part 2 (there’s an earlier part that doesn’t focus on Wild as well that’s here)
Collapse — Warriors and Wild get buried under a cave. Focused on Warriors but there’s plenty of Wild angst as well.
Make it stop — Wild gets cursed, and is forced to repeatedly relieve a twisted memory.
By others:
Air by enjolras_out — a spooky swamp and hallucinations Wild is not handling well. Nobody has a good time.
Beautiful teal flames by Mintyy_Fresh — Mipha’s grace angst, I like the description and effects of it on Wild here a lot.
What’s the opposite of tunnel vision? by enjolras_out — Wild and Hyrule go wandering. It doesn’t go well.
Taste of chaos by Lalalando — Wild gets a bonk on the head. Nice hurt/comfort.
Oranges and yellows by quirkle— Wild vs monsters and an icy lake. The icy lake does its best to win.
Kids protecting kids by quirkle — Wild and Legend attempt to escape from a cave-in.

C-can I make a request…? (Please feel free to ignore if you’d rather not!)
HDW parent-child comfort? Maybe Volga gets a chance to comfort Link, or Impa can comfort him? Idk girl I’m just starving for comfort and warm fuzzy vibes and cuddles lol
Yes you may! (though I will say requests are closed so nobody send me more thanks <3)
It took me a while to contrive a situation where Impa would feel comfortable snuggling but I think I made it work! You’ll have to forgive me for the angst there ended up being, but there is comfort and cuddles I promise 😂
——————————————————————————————————
It’s not a dangerous wound.
Head wounds always bleed a lot, and almost always look worse than they are, so there’s no need for her to panic.
Yet despite how many times Impa tells herself these words, she can’t seem to banish the dread in her gut at the memory of seeing Link get slammed to the ground by an aeralfos’s shield, and not get up even after it had been killed by another soldier.
She shouts his name as he goes down, but the battle is a mess, and Impa is stuck in a fight of her own and can’t immediately get to Link. She manages a glimpse of him through the hordes, blood all over his face, and her heart stops as she fights even more viciously.
By the time she finally forces her way past the monsters in her path, Link is already being carried out of battle by a handful of medics. Impa wants to stop right there and follow them and demand to know if he’s okay, but they’re at a crucial point in the battle, and leaving now would be disastrous.
They wouldn’t be carrying him off if he wasn’t alive, he’s alive, calm down, she berates herself, but for some reason her hands won’t stop shaking.
The moment Cia’s monsters retreat and the men raise up a cheer, Impa makes a beeline for the medical tent, ignoring the questions lobbed at her by various army personnel. Link has certainly been injured before, but there’d been so much blood on him...
The medics are expecting someone to come looking for Link apparently, and the moment she steps inside the medical tent, she’s whisked off to a more private corner, curtains blocking the area from both the sounds and sights of anyone walking by.
And immediately sees Link lying silently on a bed, nearly as pale as the bandage around his head.
Impa exhales as she goes to his side, and watches his chest go up and down for a moment. The blood has been cleaned from his face at least, but he’s unnaturally still, and pale.
But he’s breathing.
“How is he?” Impa asks, and the medic beside Link hums.
“He has a concussion along with the laceration the shield left, but we’ve stopped the bleeding. He woke up enough to handle a potion about fifteen minutes ago,” she reports. “He’ll likely be disoriented for a while while the potion works through him. He may need another at a later point, but overall, he should be fine with some rest,” the medic smiles. Impa nods, still trying to ease the fear constricting her.
See, he’s fine, they said he’ll be fine, he just needs rest. He’s fine.
Link’s chest goes slowly up and down again, and Impa swallows.
“I’ve got some other patients to check up on, I’ll leave you to visit,” the medic says, seeming to sense her presence isn’t wanted, and she slips out from the curtain, leaving Impa alone with her son.
It’s rather quiet with her gone.
Impa exhales again, and looks at Link, pale and quiet, seeming unusually small under the thin blanket that he’s tucked under. There’s still blood matted in his hair, and Impa hesitates, then reaches forward, gently teasing some of it out.
It falls almost dust-like onto his pillow, and she brushes it off, intent on not thinking about how close Link came to dying and how she couldn’t do a thing to help him.
She can still see hear his cry as he’d fallen to the ground.
“Mmngh...”
“Link?” Impa asks immediately, leaning over him as his face twitches.
It takes him a minute, but he blearily opens his eyes, pupils unevenly sized as he blinks up at her. The sight of his blues, even dazed as they are, eases the fear in her chest somewhat, and she swallows as he stares.
“‘mpa?” he slurs, and she nods, unable to stop her exhale. He’s fine, see, he’s awake, relax. “Wh’...?”
“You were injured, Link. You got hit rather hard in the head with a large metal shield,” Impa explains slowly. Link scrunches up his face like he’s trying to remember such an event happening. “You’re currently in the medics tent.”
Link slowly blinks at her, not a whit of comprehension in his gaze.
“...shield?”
“Yes, a shield hit you. Hard.”
The memory of blood flashes in Impa’s vision again, and she very pointedly ignores it as Link’s eyes scrunch in confusion.
“Where’s... m’ shield?” he mumbles.
“It’s with your other gear, Link. It’s safe.”
"Oh..." he trails off, and slowly blinks. "...Wh' happen?"
Impa sighs. The medic had said he’d be disoriented. "You were injured, Link. You're resting in the medical tent."
He hums in reply, and slowly rolls his head to the side so he can look at her more easily, eyes trailing hazily across her face. The unsure, almost guarded look that’s been on his face whenever he’s looked at her lately is completely absent, nothing but open trust and bleary confusion.
It’s... almost more painful, in a way.
Impa swallows, and sits on the stool that’s been left beside his bed, Link’s eyes flickering at the noise. He stares at her again, and blinks, a little frown pulling at his cheeks.
“Don’t cry,” he murmurs.
“...Link, I’m not crying,” Impa replies slowly, and Link stretches a hand in the vague direction of her face, obviously rather uncoordinated.
“Eyes’r red,” he says worriedly, and somehow manages to land a hand on her cheek. “Looks like... if you’re cryin’.”
Impa can’t help letting out a soft chuckle as he clumsily tries to wipe away an imaginary tear, and she gently pulls Link’s hand off her cheek, setting it back at his side. “I haven’t been crying, Link. My eyes are naturally this color.”
Link squints at her, face disbelieving, then he frowns.
“I want red eyes,” he says in a sad voice, and Impa brushes his hair away from where it had fallen in his eyes.
“Blue eyes are just as nice as red,” she says patiently, gently picking some more of the blood from his hair. She's talked to her share of concussed people, but concussed Link is... especially curious to speak with. “I’ve always liked blue, actually.”
“Oh... okay. I guess blue... 'r nice."
Link leans into her touch, and Impa holds her hand there longer than she would have otherwise, his eyes slipping closed again. He doesn’t speak for a minute, and Impa almost thinks he’s fallen asleep when he softly grunts.
“I don’t feel good,” he mumbles. “C'n you fix it?”
The way his voice wavers makes something squeeze in her chest. “I’m afraid not. The red potion should help fix you up soon Link, but it’s going to take a little while. You’ll just have to be patient.”
“Head hurts... ‘n stomach.”
“You have a concussion, that’s not surprising,” Impa sighs. “But the red potion should help with that. They’ll both fade, you’ll be all right.”
“Left,” he mumbles, and Impa raises a confused eyebrow. “‘M left-handed. Not right.”
Impa breathes a soft chuckle. “That you are. My apologies.”
Link goes quiet again, and Impa watches him, his face slightly pinched in discomfort. She’s unable to stop herself from studying his face as the silence stretches between them, idly picking out the features he shares with her and his father.
He’s got Volga’s hair, though it’s paler then his, a hint of his Sheikah blood coming through. His nose is hers, as is the overall shape of his face, but his eyes are solely how Volga’s used to be, blue and bright.
Looking at him, you'd never guess he had such unusual blood.
Link must feel her gaze on him, as he opens his eyes and looks at her again. His eyes are eyes half lidded, but focused on her face, and a frown appears on his lips as pain suddenly ripples across his expression. His forehead crinkles, discomfort suddenly more obvious as he shifts in his bed, and Impa leans forward, looking at him with worry.
“Link?”
He squeezes his eyes shut, then opens them again, looking at her with a truly miserable expression.
“...Hurts,” he whispers.
And maybe it’s the time of voice he uses, maybe it’s the mixture of tears and dizziness in his eyes, or the fact that he just looks so young and small and hurt lying there, but Impa abruptly gives in to the side of herself begging to do something other then just sit here.
He likely won't remember any of this tomorrow anyway.
She stands up from her stool as Link lets out a soft groan, and sits herself on the bed, gently sliding him over so she can sit beside him. Her plan was to merely provide comfort by sitting there, but Link almost immediately latches onto her, curling himself halfway on her lap.
Impa can’t really breathe for a few seconds as her son nestles up to her, face still pained, but more relaxed then before. She watches him as he tries to get settled, but he seems to be having trouble finding a comfortable position for his head.
So Impa throws her remaining caution to the wind, and does something she hasn’t done since Link was a baby.
She slowly, carefully, slides him up, shifting him around so his head is resting on her shoulder. Then she begins to gently pet his hair, her fingers trembling a little.
Link goes still, then relaxes, the pain easing on his face.
“There you go...” she says quietly, still slowly running a hand through his hair. She’s careful to avoid the bandages, making sure her fingers only card through hair, and Link about melts under her touch.
A soft sigh escapes him, and Impa swallows, the fact that this is the first time she’s held Link since he was tiny not lost on her.
She quickly blinks back the sting in her eyes.
A sound almost like purring suddenly vibrates from Link’s throat, soft and faint, just loud enough that Impa can hear it. She blinks at him in surprise, but Link doesn’t notice, well on his way to falling asleep.
Impa keeps petting his hair as he dozes against her, the little rumbly noises still coming from his throat. He nuzzles up to her a little more, and Impa pulls his blanket up around his shoulders, holding him just a bit tighter as he finally drifts off.
It's unlikely he'll have any memory of this occurring, Impa quietly soothing him as he falls asleep in her arms.
But that's okay.
Holding him again after so long, gently teasing the last bits of blood from his hair, his head resting under her chin as he softly rumbles... it's enough.
She closes her eyes, and Link sighs again, fully asleep.
It's enough.

Delicious
“Wild, could you please chew more quietly, you’re going to give me a headache,” Legend grumbled, and turned to glare at him when he loudly crunched what was in his mouth again, “what even are you eating that’s making so much noise?!”
“Rocks,” Wild said completely straight-faced, and at Legend’s disbelieving look, he merely shrugged. “They’re delicious.”

Ohhhh hoo hoo so @/writing_prompt_s posted this prompt: “You were the only child that didn't have powers in a family of metahumans. Today you got kidnapped by a supervillain… and none of your family came to the rescue.”
Imagining Four… pre powers… having nightmares…
Bc of course his family would never, but intrusive thoughts and a scary young mind…..
My muse grabbed me and I wrote something for this in a few hours and it’s not the exact same as the prompt but it’s pretty darn close so! enjoy.
Tw nightmare, also I teared up writing this so be warned it hits kinda hard but it’s hurt/comfort so dw. Sorry Four.
——————————————————————————————————
Four didn’t know what was chasing after him, but he was too terrified to look.
Something grabbed at his back and Four frantically shook it off, wishing not for the first time that he had longer legs. He bolted down the street, no traffic around to stop him, or even people to ask for help, and finally recognized his house in the distance.
Four charged, relief sweeping over him at the sight of his family out in the yard.
They’ll help me, they’ll stop it, they’ll save me—
Something shot out and grabbed him right as he reached the mailbox, and Four cried out, falling to the ground as his family looked over at him in surprise.
“Help!” Four cried, but his siblings merely glanced at each other, then went back to what they were doing. “Wh— no wait! Wait help!”
His brothers began to walk away towards the house, not appearing to care a bit that their younger brother was in trouble. Four watched in disbelief as they strode away, hurt striking him even harder then the pain from falling on the ground.
“T-Twi?” Four whimpered.
Twilight didn’t even give him a backward glance as they all filed in, Wind closing the door behind them.
More hands grabbed at Four, beginning to pull him backwards, and he looked frantically around for help, his gaze landing on his mother standing nearby.
“Mama! Don’t let them take me!” Four cried out, but she merely shook her head, Time walking up to stand beside her.
“Sorry Link. You’re just... not useful,” Malon sighed, giving him a disappointed look.
“If only you were born with powers,” his father said with a shake of his head. “Maybe you’d be worth saving.”
The arms tugged Four further away from his family and he clawed against them, his eyes stinging as panic and horror shook through him.
“Wait!” he shrieked, but Malon merely turned away, Time following after her. “Please don’t— I can be useful! I promise I can, I— don’t let them take me!”
Time glanced back at him as Malon paused, his bad eye glowing slightly as they watched Four struggle.
“No you can’t,” he said simply, voice emotionless. “You’re not special, Link. And this family has no need for useless children.”
And he and Malon turned to head inside.
“No, no wait!” Four screamed, more arms clawing at him, pulling him back into the darkness. “Daddy, Mama please, please—”
A hand tried to cover his mouth, but Four thrashed away from it, and he managed to let out one last scream for his parents before he was pulled into the darkness.
“I’m not useless!”
“Four, Four wake up!”
Four’s eyes shot open, and he didn’t even realize he was screaming until he it suddenly cut off into a sob, his face already damp with tears.
Something touched his arm, and Four stiffened, blinking the tears out of his eyes just enough to see the blurry figure of his father next to his bed, eyes wide with concern.
Another sob burst out of him, and Four closed his eyes, shaking with the want to throw himself into his father’s arms, but unable to forget how he’d looked at him in his dream.
This family has no need for useless children.
Four heaved in a whimpering breath, and before he could figure out what to do next, his father had moved forward and pulled him into his arms, holding him tight.
“Link, shh, it’s okay,” Time whispered, Four shaking with remaining terror from his dream. “You were having a nightmare, it’s all right.”
Four sobbed, his father running a hand over his head, and didn’t speak for several moments.
“I-it, it felt real,” he finally hiccuped, barely able to speak through the lump in his throat and terror constricting his chest, “you, you a-and M-Mama said I’m—”
His voice broke, and Time shushed him again, still trying to calm him down.
“You s-said ‘cause I don’t have p-powers, I’m useless,” Four sobbed, and he heard Time inhale.
“Oh Four, no, you’re not useless,” he breathed, tucking him securely under his chin. “Me and your mother would never say that.”
“But I am,” Four cried, burying his face in his father’s shirt. “I can’t do a-anything, I can’t run like Wild, o-or turn into things like L-Legend or Twi, or e-even—”
“Link Smith Forester, you are not useless,” Time said firmly, holding him tight. “Having or not having powers doesn’t have any bearing on that. You’re not useless now, and you never will be. Powers or not.”
Four felt more tears drip down his face.
“You d-didn’t try to save me,” Four whimpered, his words interspersed with sniffling. “In th-the dream, you didn’t bother.”
“We’ll always bother, Four,” his father whispered back. “If you’re ever in trouble we’ll come save you, I promise. You don’t need to worry about that.”
“Sure?” Four whispered.
“I’m sure. I promise.”
Time slightly eased his grip, leaning back to grab something, and Four wiped his eyes, feeling a little better, but still miserable. His dream still lurked at the forefront of his mind, the faces of his family uncaring and indifferent, the words they spoke holding nothing but disapointment and annoyance at having to deal with him. Time leaned forward again as Four let out another sniffle, and handed him the stuffed bird he usually slept with, tucking him back into his arms.
Four squeezed it tight to his chest, and Time began to lightly rock him, humming something under his breath that Four could barely make out.
“Don’t leave,” Four whispered when Time shifted how he was sitting, and his father nodded, wrapping him more securely in his blankets.
“I’m staying right here,” he whispered back, and went back to humming the soft melody.
Four relaxed a bit, still sniffling and shaking, but much less terrified, his dream finally fading to the background of his mind. Time’s hand ran through his hair, the soft rumbling of the melody in his chest comforting under Four’s head, and he closed his eyes.
The last thing he remembered before drifting off was his father holding him tight.

Methinks someone is veeery on edge and close to breaking
Not me immediately trying to think if this guy got any sleep since the incident or has taken one minute for himself whatsoever and coming up blank
The MOST "would you two knock it off and let him finish" older sibling face I've ever seen, my gosh Warriors I already relate to you enough and now this XD
You're right though I'm sure he's gotten like. Five minutes of sleep maybe? Either way I think he's still a bit in Serious Danger Ocurred mode I kinda hope we see him snap tbh

Still losing my mind over the ~✨Ilia✨~ in the updaaaaaaaate
I KNOWWWWW AAAAAH
Twilight talks about her so much!!! She’s one of the first people he mentions thinking about while he was fighting for his life, second only to Colin (And we all know how close they are!) and we have further confirmation he talks about her a lot because of what Warriors says (That’s twice now he’s mentioned Ilia!).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there’s THIS
Tumblr media
(“Ain’t” hehe)
He talks even more about her!!! Thinking about her reaction and how mad she’s going to be sends Twilight into gales of laughter and a better mood then we’ve seen him in I don’t even know how long. They’re such good friends (more?) and I can’t wait to see them interact in person :D

Oh my goodness I just had a thought
What if MLP Link joins the chain
Mlp Link:
The chain:
Mlp Link:
The chain:
Wild: ...why is that horse wearing a hat
Twilight: why is that horse wearing our hat
Mlp Link: you know I can understand what you’re saying, right?
Wind: why is the talking horse wearing our hat

What if people in the chain were casually friends with people who would become historical figures.
Like Time mentions a buddy of his and Malon’s and Twi is tugging his hair out because that’s one of the greatest poets known to Hyrule at the time?
Or Four mentions having a friend and Time flips his sticks like that man is an author who’s writings are popular YEARS later
Legend mentions one of Zelda’s cabinet members or something and Hyrule’s confused because later that guy goes on to be Hyrule’s greatest soldier in battle
Just. The possibilities.
abdfjsljgsdjkfl that would be so funny. It'd be kind of terrible too because if they were historical figures they'd probably like. Know when they die. And how they die. But they couldn't say anything because what if that messes stuff up????
Also Time geeking out meeting a long-dead author who's books he loves, anyone?

I just like hearing people gush about why a certain ZeLink is their favorite so please. Gush about yours.
That would be SKYWARD SWORD ZELINK!!!!
*explodes*
So there’s so so much I love about them, they drive me insane fr. My head kinda hurts so I’m not going to go too crazy but AUGH. THOSE TWO. From the moment the game begins you can tell how close they are, with Zelda sending her loftwing to wake up Link, and the teasing between them (the part where she pushes him off is SO funny) is so natural, you can just tell that they’re really good friends. And then there’s the bit on the goddess statue and it smells nice and Zelda wanting to tell Link something and going on a ride together (while music called romance in the air plays abdfjnhfcjdhbd) and destiny gets dropped on their heads and Link is SO determined to save her and catch up to her and he’s always a little too slow and I’m not going to do the whole game otherwise we’d be here all day but ZELDA IS THE DRIVING FORCE FOR HIM THE WHOLE GAME. And when she seals herself away for a thousand years and the FACE he makes when she does and he pounds on the crystal and “I’m still your Zelda” AAAAUGH and then when she wakes up he RUNS FORWARD TO CATCH HER AND THE WAY HE HOLDS HER AND THEY WALK OUT HOLDING HANDS AND ITS SO HAPPY and then ghirahim shows up and THE FACE LINK MAKES WHEN HE GRABS ZELDA ITS MY FAVORITE FACE OF HIS and then when everything is over and they’re talking on the statue and their loftwings fly together and ABDGBJGDVHDJVG THEYRE IN LOVE THEYRE SOOOO IN LOVE

I know I've asked about First before, but how does he relate to Sky, exactly?
Well, in lu we don’t totally know yet, though I do have some guesses. More on that in a minute though.
First is Sky’s predecessor, according to the manga (which is questionably canon, but isn’t everything in zelda?) at the back of the Hyrule Historia. He’s a good man, but is wrongfully imprisoned for several years before being freed, and is then chosen by Hylia to use the Master Sword to help defeat the demon armies currently trying to take over the land. Hylia rides a crimson loftwing, and it ends up choosing Link as it’s rider as well later on.
Link fights the demons, and ends up in a battle with a leader (its probably Demise, but it’s a bit unclear), and First is grievously injured. First ends up using the Master Sword to send his people up into the sky (this eventually becomes Skyloft) but is unable to join them because of how badly he’s injured, and finally succumbs to his wounds.
I’m mostly cutting out the bits with Hylia, but she does come here and says her whole plan of being a mortal so they can meet again in another life... which I have some lore issues with but you know. Questionably-canon manga. The story then goes to many years later with little sksw Link, who meets the same crimson loftwing First once rode, evident by the marks on its beak, and becomes its new rider.
...
So. The biggest connection between them, aside from the reincarnation thing (which I’m ignoring because Jojo said for lu, it’s not exactly reincarnation between the Links), seems to be the crimson loftwing. Who, in the manga anyways, is the exact same bird, ridden by both First and Sky.
Lu doesn’t seem to be going that exact direction though. Here’s my thoughts.
Remember the crimson loftwing? In the manga, it’s the same one between First and Sky, but in lu that isn’t the case. We see Sky cuddling with a baby Crimson in these doodles, so my guess is that the Crimson Sky has is actually a descendant of First’s.
My biggest proof for this? Well look at them next to each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice something similar between them? Aside from the color and all that?
Tumblr media
CHECK IT OUT. MARKINGS.
The same beak markings, only fainter on Sky’s bird (which adds again to my theory of the birds being descended from each other theory).
It might just be a neat reference, but we all know how much thought Jojo puts into everything in this comic. And First, though he hasn’t been entirely confirmed to be in lu, has been hinted at more then once. (I actually have a post around somewhere that points out all the hints to him and how it’s likely he will be in lu).
But yeah, I think I got a little off track from your original question, sorry XD Hopefully this explained things!

What are some of your favorite Twilight headcanons if you don’t mind sharing? <33
I don't know if these are my favorites but they're the ones I thought of first XD
He's freaked out by fire in large amounts. There is a ridiculous amount of fire that attempts to kill you in twilight princess, I just think that would leave a mark.
the horsiest horse girl to ever horse. this man ADORES horses...almost as much as he adores goats.
He doesn't have fangs, but his canines stick out just a liiiiittle more then most people's (like mine and yes I'm projecting).
He's the type to wander out into a field and lie in the grass for an hour or two, staring up at the sky and just think about stuff (...projecting again)
Twilight and Malon have the same nose, and Time can't help but see it every time he looks at him
If he ever grew any facial hair, it would be more red then brown (I have an older brother with hair like this, it's pretty neat)
And he has good musical abilities! he can turn almost anything into an instrument, and likes to whistle while he's doing stuff.
