i have not watched the purple hearts movie and i probably won't unless i'm in the mood to feel angry but like from what i've heard.....what on earth is going on???

like she gets upset that the guy's friend is saying 'let's hunt down some arabs' and then when the guy tells her to sit down she sits????? stand up!!!! in every single sense of the word

gonna rewrite the whole movie and make sure that sofia carson sacks off the guy and ends up single and happy, realising she doesn't need to compromise her beliefs for some basic republican with a hard past or actually ends up with someone that won't lead to a breakup next election cycle

anyway, so netflix cancelled shows like glow, the society and even julie and the phantoms for what? to just push movies that are mediocre at best and 1980s racist at worst?

Sofia Carson willingly stared in one of the most racist pieces of film I have EVER seen what the actual fuck.

For context, her love interest announces his desire to “kill a bunch of Arabs”. That’s the garbage she willingly took part in lol.

Purple Hearts is Insufferable.

What a shit movie. Being pro-military is one thing but when it's done this way, what the fuck? The racist comments, etc. Did they just turn what happened to those in Iraq into a plot point for Luke & Cassie to hug or whatever? And Luke actually getting MAD at her for causing a scene when she called the guy out on the comment.

Luke has little to no redemption/development in his viewpoints outside of romantic interaction while she had so many.

Whenever they have a fight surrounding their political views too, it's all pushed aside because they end up having sex or whatever.

Once again, the WOC has to sacrifice what she believes in for some white man.

This conservative vs. liberal garbage is supposed to be the enemies-to-lovers aspect of this movie apparently?

Word of advice to future rom-com movies, don't mix fanfiction tropes with racist politics-driven 'jokes'. It's not cute.

I actually lowk had hope for this movie because I was hoping they'd touch upon the healthcare aspect more, or give a slight bit of redemption to Luke, show both the respectable AND horrid parts of the U.S military, and more. But instead of seeing the grey area, it's mostly black and white. This was too much to ask in the first place due to the romance-movie nature in the first place but nevermind that.
