i-
i don't-
what in the house of sanity is happening.
1) Tony is not responsible for Wanda. She's an adult and she is responsible for HER SELF. Stop treating her like she's a baby who needs someone to cuddle her. But if we want to take a look on how he treated her sure... let's do it.
She didn't faced any consequences after Ultron. Who do you think made sure she wasn't arrested and imprisoned for the rest of her life? Pietro's Ghost? Tony took care of every avenger's reputation and payed for everyone. He let her stay in the compound AND when she was accused and people wanted to incriminate her he wanted her to stay safe in her house. Not a room with only a bed, a whole building with the man he loved. Just to protect her from hate.
But yeah, he's an horrible person.
2) HE WAS ABUSIVE TOWARDS PETER?
idk if I should laugh or not at this... he literally made Peter's life safer because if he never met him Peter would still wearing that unsafe pajama fighting the crime. Or maybe not, he would directly be dead.
If we want to blame tony for bringing a child during a fight, then we are all dumb. THAT-WAS-NEVER-MEANT-TO-BE-A-FIGHT.
Peter just had to web Team Cap to make sure they didn't escape (AND THEN BECOMING CRIMINALS Y'ALL, TONY WAS SAVING THEM), it's not tony's fault if Steve didn't changed his mind. Was it kinda irresponsible? yes. He is a bad model because he brought a kid to Germania? no. Peter was already a superhero, Tony didn't make him one. And Peter was excited to be there, so I don't really know what's y'all problem.
In homecoming was he distant? yes, but because he needed time to heal. at the same time, he was always looking after Peter and always helped him when he needed it the most. He just wanted Peter to be safe and to be just a friendly spiderman. Y'all wanted Peter to be like Raimi!Peter but when Tony also wanted that, you get angry. Ok.
I won't speak about infinity war and endgame because all he did during that movies was to care about Peter, protect him and save him from death. But yes, sure, he's abusive.
3) Harley.
Have we watched the movies or...
Let me start with saying Harley didn't need Tony like Peter needed him. Harley had a mother and a sister, what should have Tony done? Staying with him and leaving everything behind? let me remind you that he HAD to leave him, or, y'know, not a big deal, Aldrich would have won. Also, we're all forgetting how Tony payed for Harley's house and his little sister's watch. Yeah he didn't care about him either.
Second thing. Did you watch endgame funeral? Harley was invited. Pepper would never invite a kid tony met ten years earlier. they must stayed in contact during the time. But no, let's say he's a bad model because he didn't adopted a kid who he just met and who already had a mother and a sister.
Was the comment about being a pus*y kinda cruel? Yes. But it's a joke. J-O-K-E. And it doesn't look like Harley was crying because of this. Just because he made some jokes, he gets hate. Okay.
4) This one is the worst.
Y'know, I can almost see why you can say the first three things. Almost. Because you only saw what's bad about their relationships, okay.
But on this one I don't really understand.
Every interaction they had was showing how much tony cared for the kid. You're saying pepper had to take care of her, but we didn't even see a scene of them before the funeral. Tony was a Caring and lovely father, not like his own father. Morgan loved her dad, she didn't act like a kid around an absent father and I myself have an absent father since I was born and I never acted like that with him. He treated her like a princess, and he was ready to not help everyone because he didn't want to risk his daughter's life.
Are we watching the same movies or

It's so weird that people keep saying that Wanda's trauma is because of Tony. "Tony's weapons attacked her home! It's Tony's fault!" Actually, those weapons were sold by Obadiah Stane (if they were Stark Industries' weapons at all, but we'll ignore how the logo is wrong because it might just be a continuity error). Tony actually is the person who stopped Stane the instant he found out about it. So in fact, Tony is the one who prevented what happened to Wanda from ever happening again.
But for some reason we can't say that. Everyone cries foul. They say we're trying to erase Wanda's trauma. Instead of, you know, redirecting it to the proper source. But I guess it's easier to take up the narrative Wanda created (and loudly and consistently spouts) instead of looking at the truth (which is never said out loud in the movies and is left to be inferred). Because children don't understand how to think critically.

tony's been on both sides of the ultra-specific situation of confronting mortality on the ground, towered over by a friend, and wondering if this is it. if that's the last face they'll ever see.
tony and steve.
peter and tony.
but in the face of possible death, tony and peter were nothing alike.
the discomfort of facing a death caused by someone you're supposed to trust versus the comfort of departing in the presence of someone you love.
the shame of allowing someone you admire to witness your weakness versus the regret of showing them your pain.
the last defiant act of accepting your faith, maintaining eye contact, and daring them to do it versus trying to fight your destiny, looking away, and apologising for not being able to stay.
the millisecond of disappointment when you realise you'll survive versus the millisecond of utter misery when you realise you won't.
tony got up both times, and life went on.

honestly steve deserved to be a little meaner in civil war
“steve you have to sign the accords”
“oh right i totally should sign my rights away to a government who i exposed to have been infiltrated by nazis for DECADES. i’m sure nothing bad will happen if i do that”
“i should let the government dictate my life when all i’ve ever done is save the world by going AGAINST the government. sounds like a great plan”
like t0ny stans love to say he was being horribly selfish and mean in civil war, which he… wasn’t, but i think he should have been

I say this as someone who has no love for mcu tony but endgame was so anti found family that they had tony talk to his emotionally distant absent sperm donor instead of the man (jarvis) that raised him, and who tony missed SO much when he died that he created an entire artificial intelligence based on him so that he could talk to him again

Howard saying that Tony is his “greatest invention” has always rubbed me the wrong way and i think it’s because it implies that everything Tony does is the result of Howard’s actions. Howard managed to keep Tony in the company for long enough that Tony would have the resources to make Howard’s element. Howard controlled who Tony would be in contact with enough that he KNEW Tony would see that video, and get it from SHEILD personnel. Howard knew that Tony would still be running the EXPO, and thus have access to the old board where Howard outlined the element.
By Howard saying Tony is his “Greatest invention”, he so means it litterally. Tony was handcrafted, customized to be the person Howard wanted and needed. Howard uses Tony as nothing more than a time machine, a dependable future entity which will do Howard’s bidding.

May Parker absolutely despises Tony Stark and you can’t convince me otherwise.
If I found out that some womanizing billionaire lied *to my face* and coerced my 14 year old kid into going to GERMANY to fight *actual trained soldiers* because he has superpowers, I would be in jail for murder

Can we talk about how cute it is that Peter thought Tony was that tall for the bunny ears?
And also... does that mean they didn't plan at all to do bunny ears to each other? I mean, if they had planned it, Peter would have checked to see if he was doing them right.
So that means that originally the photo was going to be with Tony's arm around Peter's back, and Peter's arm around Tony's shoulders.
These two will never stop making me cry.

Just saw a post where someone said that the hottest thing they'd ever seen was when Steve and Bucky beat up Tony Stark, and I gotta say... all I can think of is someone bragging about getting off on watching someone nearly get killed, and I'm just like... ...uh... I am concerned about the safety of those around you...

So I made the mistake of stumbling onto the NOT STEVE ROGERS FRIENDLY tag today and..
Tumblr media
You have to be a special type of delusional to be this obsessed with a character you don't like!??
Over 2k fics have the tag and are almost entirely Tony Stark-centered fics. I'm assuming these are the "fans" who totally buy into the MCU canon and don't know any other Captain America lore outside of what Feige and Whedon have done. Or, they're the "fans" who refuse to understand the politics behind Steve's character and how he was inherently undermined throughout the entire ten years of the MCU by the directors and writers for most of the films.
Because the arguments in most of these fics for being "not Steve rogers friendly" are really surface level shit like:
1) "Steve refused to sign the Accords and broke up the Avengers" (he was right & he didn't break them up, an overemotional Tony did when he refused to listen to Bucky's side of the story).
2) Steve fought Tony and almost killed him (yeah, like Tony didn't blast Bucky's arm off and shoot his repulsor rays directly at Steve).
3)Steve is homophobic (y'all are just making up reasons to hate this man atp)
4)Steve is racist (Steve hated racists & you'd know that if you read the comics, or you guys are just that deluded that you're making Steve racist & trying to project it as canon and therefore a "reasonable" explanation as to why you hate him)
5)Blaming Steve for Rhodey's accident (WHICH WAS TEAM TONY'S FAULT!)
6)YALL, THEY MADE STEVE THE BAD GUY IN A BROCK RUMLOW/BUCKY FIC! I stg I cannot make this shit up💀 Steve's bad for wanting Bucky to be Bucky again, but somehow Brock's the good guy for wanting Bucky to be the Soldier...
Steve left Bucky for Peggy (we'll get to this soon)
There's a hundred more irrational reasons for the Steve Rogers hate, but let me get to the WORST part.
THERE ARE BUCKY STANS WHO ARE ANTI-STEVE ROGERS.
And I'm sorry, no. I don't accept that you love Bucky Barnes but hate the one person he loves the most in the world.
They argued in a couple fics that "Bucky also went rogue after Siberia but he didn't want to associate with Steve, Nat & the rest of the team- WHO HELPED RESCUE BUCKY & EVENTUALLY EXONERATE HIM- but rather, he went off on his own & eventually Tony finds him, they hash it out and become friends to lovers."
Helppp???? Wdym Bucky isn't gonna stick with the one man he's been keeping diaries about to try and get back his memories? But he'll go to the one guy that re-traumatized him by blowing out his arm again?
Not only that, but Bucky absolutely hates Steve in some of these fics and the reason will be, "he left Bucky to go back to Peggy." Like, you cannot be a serious fan if you're still going with the Endgame canon. For a majority of us, we recognize Endgame as being nothing but terrible writing and mischaracterizations. Why are yall not analyzing and interpreting media critically? The MCU has never been on Steve's side and have always diminished his character in an attempt to make Tony the ultimate hero of the OG 6. Don't yall know the discourse? It's embarrassing atp.
And this is my stance on the entire thing: there's nothing wrong with writing fics about characters you don't necessarily like or aren't interested in. It's OKAY if you don't like Steve Rogers- but you've gotta be rational about him, instead of hateful. Most, if not all of these "anti-steve" fics are written in bad faith. Bad understanding of the character and pure, shameless mischaracterizations which just makes these types of fics fickle and weak- hilarious to read though cos that Brock one had me deadddd😭💀.

YouTube keeps recommending me these videos about Tony Stark being a “father” to Peter and all the scenes of them are just Tony being awful to Peter. Like, him being dismissive of Peter and yelling at him. I’m really am convinced that these people don’t actually watch these clips and just go by their hand canons.

Fully convinced that the main reason Tony was never made an Avenger was because Fury did not want Tony, he wanted “Tony Stark: Iron Man”.
It says so, in the file. Iron Man was approved, Tony Stark was not. Fury knew and understood that if he accepted Tony onto the team fully, if he let Tony believe himself embraced, then Tony would be able to (eventually) drop the show. He could stop acting 100% sure of himself all the time. He could have flaws and doubts and insecurities which he openly expresses.
Tony’s biggest appeal to Fury was that he was impulsive and expendable. Tony was willing to fly into fire on a whim, and Fury had a front row seat to Tony doing so (by fighting Vanko even while his heart killed him). But the thing is, if Tony saw himself as an equal to the other Avengers, he might start feeling like he had a community, and therefore a reason not to fly into fire. He might start opening up to people he viewed as equals, which would make him more likable and less expendable.
Fury couldn’t let Tony feel like an equal to the others. Tony had to feel like he wasn’t really on the team. Still, he had to be on the team.
So Fury managed it. He told Tony, in private, that Tony would be a “consultant”. Fury knew that Tony would still help the team without the title, and Tony knew that, in the eyes of the Avengers, he was still a “textbook narcissist” and had to act as such.
And then in public, Fury introduced the idea of the Avengers Initiative by implying that Tony was the first Avenger. “There was an idea- Stark knows this- called the Avengers Initiative”. Fury managed to convey to Tony that he was still expected to act superior while implying to the others that Stark was favored.
And there you have it. The perfect situation, for Fury. Stark would act high and mighty while still feeling unsupported. The team would see him as a symbol and founder, rather than a teammate. Tony would be willing and expected to sacrifice himself whenever Fury needed.
Iron Man would be on the team. Not Tony Stark.

I’m not entirely sure if this is anything but the Marvel fandoms fascination with Tony Stark as a father figure to Peter Parker feels just a little too much like misogyny to me. Peter has a canonical parental figure that didn't gaslight and endanger him, but everyone just forgets about Aunt May
