am I the only one who's scared for the upcoming Aegon the Conqueror adaptation...? The Dance is a lost case. It's destroyed, ruined, made into a minced meat and served as dog's food. It's unsalvaegable atp. But HBO wants to do the same to Aegon and his sisters and it makes me both furious and frightened. Mattson Tomlin will be the screenwriter. Ok, so far so good. He seems like a decent guy. He didn't post anything that'd imply he's going to turn this series into his own fanfic. But what next? I've researched the process of making a tv show, and if I'm not mistaken, Tomlin's sole job is to write the "core" of the story (the sequence of events, how it might begin and on what note should it end, a rough draft of dialoques, things like that) And then that script will be passed forward to five other screenwrites who can do with it whatever they want. What if Condal and Hess - the biggest f**cking hacks in the whole world - will be among those screenwriters chosen by HBO?? It's going be a nightmare. Oh god, the villainization of Rhaenys and Visenya while also making them a total weaklings without ambition or agenda. And yes, it's more likely than not that these asshats will make the Conquest, as well. They're HBO's favorites, since they made the ever successful House of the Alicent.
Oh, and I'm sure they gonna fuck the dragons just as much as their riders. Do you want to see Aegon riding a saggy, rotting Balerion with a dropping neck? Well that's exactly what you gonna get.
They hate Targaryens and everything that's associated with them.
Oh no, I'm right there with you anon. I honestly hope this show somehow dies like the Snow show. His perception of Daenerys is extremely telling of his inability to understand the bigger picture of the story.
Him accusing Dany of being "genocidal" in season 3 is fucking ridiculous. He's somehow construing her actions to overthrow a monstrous and oppressive system as genocide. Like, media literacy is just not present apparently. Since Dany shares parallels with the Conquerors, this perception is very... concerning. So, from my perspective, this is already doomed to be another shit show.
Considering how often people in the fandom like to interpret the relationship of the Conquerors as strained at best, I have very little confidence anyone HBO hires will be much different. HBO definitely hates the idea of any healthy relationships, romantic or otherwise, as we've seen in GOT and HOTD. I definitely think Visenya will end up hating Aegon and/or Rhaenys, and Aegon will probably resent Visenya and abuse Rhaenys.
I've always thought the GOT dragons were extremely uninspired. They dulled their colors and made them all look the same. I liked the HOTD dragons a lot more; but I agree that Vhagar looks kinda bad (she looks like a turtle 😭). Since Balerion is supposed to be older than Vhagar is in HOTD, they might go with the same idea for him, which is sad. Especially since they did a good job with Caraxes and Syrax (aside from keeping her the same size the whole show).
It's so sad and frustrating how determined HBO are to just destroy everything connected to ASOIAF. Time and again, they've proven that they just don't understand what GRRM wrote at all.

it was uncomfortable to watch laena burn herself to death while knowing she did not in the book and while i can seperate the book and the show it feels weird to have made her a black woman but to give her a much more horrific death and life in general

Not liking the Mary Sue over powered dragon queens is not misogynistic. HBO just uses them as cash cows and so other people's favorite characters lose, screen time, plot lines and in dany's case she was literally the only character in GoT whose magic plot and background didn't get cut.
The writers also bend all the fantasy rules of the world of Westros to make them look good. Dragon's can't even go behind the wall canonically. People are allowed to not like the blood supremacist house, people are allowed to say Rhaenyra and Dany are propped up by capitalism and executives to sell merch.

Just the fact that HBO had to change tb characters and their actions completely so they can be likable says a lot about them, don't you think so?

I actually like the idea of making the Velaryons black, but it was executed awfully in the show.
First off, the Targaryens and Velaryons have intermarried so much that the Targaryen should also be black.
The conquerors mother was a Velaryon.
Aenys, son of Aegon and Rhaenys, married Alyssa Velaryon.
Jaehaerys and Alysanne were the children of Alyssa and Aenys and they married each other.
Viserys and Daemon's parents were the children of Jaehaerys and Alysanne who married each other.
Rhaenys is the daughter of Jocelyn and Aemon. Jocelyn is the daughter of Alyssa Velaryon.
I'm not an expert in genetics, but shouldn't Rhaenys be mixed?

I get the vibe that HBO completely mischaracterized ASOIAF as just plainly being “ shocking, raunchy, nihilistic, violence” - Where the most aggressive, violent cruel characters are viewed as “badass winners” and the unquestionable good characters are disregarded as “soft”.
Which is why we will never get a good ASOIAF adaptation….

the showrunners are all so tg its insane
Yeah, I think Condal tried to disguise it a bit when season one first came out, but he's really just letting it all out now. What the fuck is he planning on doing that will make us "consider switching sides"?
I don't understand people who claim he and HoTD are biased towards TB. They made Rhaenyra be completely inactive politically outside of that one small council scene. They took Jace's interests and gave them to Aemond. They made Daemon kill Rhea, even though in the book he wasn't even in the country. They made Rhaenys and Corlys be completely unsupportive of Rhaenyra, when Rhaenys was her biggest support in the book. They removed Baela and Rhaena's personalities in favor of spending more time on the greens. They turned Laenor into an absent father who chose to abandon his children (biological or not, they were his sons).
Meanwhile, the greens get a majority of the screen time. Alicent is turned into a perpetual victim who refuses to help herself or her children, even though she's the second most powerful person in the realm. Aegon is made to be a "sympathetic" baby with daddy/mommy issues who rapes women because "he doesn't understand consent" (yes, Hess literally said this). Aemond is made to be a poor bullied baby who is actually just so right to be king, guys! Helaena is made into a dreamer yet still has no bearing on the plot other than "sad victim".
The plot itself suffers sooo much because Condal and Hess just had to make the greens into a bunch of poor innocent babies. The greens are the most cartoonishly evil Targaryens GRRM has ever written. But of course, if Condal and Hess are going to ignore the fact that Daemon is meant to be a gray character (GRRM said he's the grayest character in F&B), why wouldn't they ignore how completely shitty the greens are (with the exception of Helaena, who we know nothing about).

Once I saw someone say that Baela in her deleted scene, is the portrait of Daemon in his way of speaking, which is true, since Daemon has already said the fire and blood dialogue in the series... And someone dared to answer that no, the whole point of the scene is to show that she is like Laena ! So... it's all well and good this bullshit idea of Rhaenys' dialogue about seeing her daughter again as Baela, but the fact is that we've never seen Laena behave/talk like Baela does in this scene. She speaks like Daemon. It's just a fact. It's the same dialogue Daemon said before. Baela herself also compares herself to her father in this scene. Yet Ryan never mentions it when talking about this scene, only talking about Baela in relation to Rhaenys and Laena, as well as many of the spectators which is... stupid? I mean Baela mentions her father and literally takes out his dialogue yet people easily erase Daemon from the equation. I guess it's always to convince himself that he would be a bad father and a bad person that Baela couldn't be like... Even if Baela mentioning Daemon that way wouldn't make any sense if she was bad. term with him and that in addition to naming him she supports his idea of war and speaks like him? She's his daughter, she looks like him and that's what the scene shows. I don't care about the dialogue about Laena, because we've never seen her act and talk like that, that's a fact. Baela resembles her father in what she wants and how she speaks. That's what a lot of normal people remember from the scene. Yet once again Ryan and the anti Daemon like to twist it. Ryan if this scene is canon, it sends your image of Daemon being bad whether as a person for wanting war or bad as a father for all the reasons I have already cited. Baela agrees with her father for the war, cites him with pride among her mother and grandmother by saying that she is a dragon rider and speaks like him.
I swear I need to get this scene on DVD in the bonuses someday. It's not normal that she's not there. If you really consider it canon, and when you've allowed yourself to really reveal it, why not put it in the DVD bonuses ? Especially since you say that for you it's hot and that it's HBO for reasons of time which didn't allow the episode to be longer. So why not put it in the DVD bonuses ?! That makes no sense ! I want to be able to watch this scene as much as I want in good quality instead of someone filming it during a conference. The HOTD directors are so stupid.

HBO is that toxic ex who swears they've changed so you take them back, and then they hurt you again, and you have nobody to blame but yourself because deep down you knew. You know what they can't ruin though? Re-reading the books with a warm cup of spiced tea or mulled wine.

hahahaha this man for me exudes Maegor vibes, hahaha I don't even suggest that HBO drag him to make an adaptation of Maegor because they will end up destroying him leaving him as a repressed gay in love with his brother Aenys....(where have I already seen this story 🤔? ...ohh that's what they did to Daemon)... hahahahaha but well I just wanted to share it... HBO stay away from the Targaryens and stop monetizing with them... make shitty series with their characters non incestuous favorites....please if they have any decency leave them alone

Of course, Team Black women are glorified as amazing rebellious girlbosses who can do nothing wrong while dutiful Alicent is the villain of the story. Haven't we seen it already? After all, the very same HBO and fandom didn't give a damn about feminine Elia Martell who did her duty as a Crown Princess almost at the expense of her life while worshipping tomboyish Lyanna Stark who eloped with a married father of two young children.
