i enjoy their friendly banters but everytime klaus pulls bullshit i remember how as a romance from carolines pov makes zero sense. and the girl can do better ie tyler and poor forgotten Matt donovan who was ready to save caroline from.. being sacrificed from klaus plans at the end of s2 .. matt/ty/caroline =goals.. but the show decided on care/alaric which is even more confusing than klaorline but thats a different rant.

klaroline shippers say the darnest things and are actually so funny!!! One just told me that the only reason klaus was with Camille was because Caroline rejected him and was with Stefan... mmmmm sure. That's why he fell in love with the woman who changed his life, saved his kid multiple times, saved him from himself, the woman he knew he loved, who he told he loved, the woman who he remembered in his darkest moments and the woman he carried with himself for eternity. Like sure klaroliners, whatever helps you sleep at night... even if it is just your delusions and obsession with toxic relationships.

I don’t think had the writer gone the Klaus Bonnie directiom it would be nearly as popular as Klaroline tbh. It’s not like Klaus and Caroline were the romantic leads being pushed by the writers that it got traction among the audience, they literally had one single scene and they blew up. Nothing stopped the same from happening with everyone else JM had scenes with. KC is a peculiar case I don’t think you can find examples as easy. I’d even argue that was JP’s mistake with TO to think she could.

given the build-up in season 2, i think klonnie would’ve been incendiary and would’ve blown up in season 3 because they were the logical antagonists-to-lovers, BUT i do agree that it would’ve probably not been as big as KC since bonnie can’t be a white girl avatar for most teen girls who thirsted after klaus. so it’s likely that bonnie/kat would’ve gotten a lot of hate and the relationship would’ve been doomed or made to tank. because ultimately KC’s popularity stems from the fact that they’re basically a Klaus/Reader fanfic completely de-contextualized, so that both klaus and caroline act out of character and their relationship has no bearing on the overall plot (except to make it worse, hello tyler’s whole arc). JP’s mistake was not writing a consistent ship. hell, if KC is the horse you’re betting on, don’t bait ppl just to get them hooked for views; write a decent story. what KC folks actually got….yikes. reason no. 243234 why i’m glad JP never touched klonnie.

Btw if their are any klaroline fans who do that and are reading this I used to have no problem with your ship but then I came across you lot and now I feel only hate. It's funny when you think about it. One of the many many reasons Haylijah is hated is because Hayley was married to jackson and the only way for her to be with Elijah was if Jack died, and i've seen many people on the kc fandom acusing Hayley/haylijah for that. And here we are after the tvd finale having sc fandom acusing kc for the same reason (wich is hypocritical cause many steroliners also ship HE)

He first told Tyler to kill C (if I remember correctly), then out of nowhere he stands in her bedroom, saying that she wasn’t supposed to be caught in the crossfire. The reason that scene also really didn’t work for me at all, was 'cause to me it looked like a father comforting his daughter. The lines, the way C asked if he was going to kill her (her tone). It was weird for me and still doesn’t make sence why he was all of the sudden so in to her. Plus the lie he told, that she wasn’t supposed to be hurt, like Tyler did it all on his own.

I don’t know why, but it is strange that Kat wanted Bonnie+Klaus, Bonnie+Kai and she’s a big fan of BD, but she got non, when JP and CD decided to put her character with Enzo, MM wasn’t allowed to say anything to Kat. Luckily, Kat did like working with MM, but the whole action of JP and CD is strange.

Btw, I heard a radio interview of M.Trevino where he was asked with whom would you like a romantic interest, he said he loved to Tyler be with Bonnie. He liked working with Kat and after that the whole BT ship started and few month later they put him with C. So everyone who liked to work with Kat, do get diclined. Well… it looks that way, anyway.

Yeah, this may be obvious already but tbh I’m avoiding the KC/anti-KC stuff. Frankly, I just don’t have a stake in that fight. But for sure, no argument here that the first KC scene and then Klaus’ infatuation/attraction were sudden when they first came up in s3. In that previous post, I was just trying to say that whether KC ever existed or not, I don’t think JP would have ever explored Klaus/Bonnie. 

Because like you said, almost none of the people who wanted to work with Kat on that level got the chance to. Hence this gifset, lol. The TVD team were reserving those sweeping romance and temptation-of-darkness storylines for Caroline and Elena, and they were stubbornly unable to see good, Beautiful-And-Strong Bonnie as someone with that kind of dimension.

Aww, Trevino. They did him so dirty too, and I still don’t get why. He was so integral in s2 and s3, even s4... his storylines tended to run in parallel to the other characters’, but they were always so compelling. Why did they drop it all when they moved Klaus to TO?

Just went on the antiklaroline tag on twitter out of curiosity. Haters clearly feel threatened by a klaroline endgame. They spend more time hating on klaroline than loving their own ships. Its like they know their ships are inferior so they have to keep trying to put klaroline down. And how sad of them to devote so much of their time to a ship they supposedly hate.

Well, that is what the anti tag is there for, they can do as they wish.

klaroline had chemistry and were both popular/beloved characters. i believe that's what attracted ppl to it... ur analyzying a hot vampire show too deeply. if the white girl thing mattered so much, he'd be shipped that hard with elena, hayley, that other white girl from the originals, etc. pretty sure klaus interacted with many white girls and none of it picked up

well, on the one hand i would say that klayley and klamille had/have pretty big fandoms on their own with a sizable impact, but i know what you mean that KC seemed special and out of the ordinary and that’s, imo, due to timing and convenience. klaus was due a “love interest” and this was the “first” girl that seemed to finally draw his interest. if there had been a white witch instead, or elena, under the same circumstances, (i’m gonna kill you, oops, i change my mind, cat and mouse game), it would’ve had just as much hype around it cuz ppl wanted to see klaus courting smb, cuz #klausthirst, i guess. 2012 was a gentler time. also, before KC showed up, there was speculation and klonnie and klena too, but since nothing concrete had happened, it did not seem to take over the fandom as KC did. 

i think KC’s big appeal is less about chemistry (more about that in a minute) and more about facility and self-referentiality. so for instance this ship could be teased in the last season of TO precisely because it’s not really reliant on any storyline or character beats, it’s somehow independent of the show, it has its own universe and it can pop up on tvd, TO, legacies etc because it’s more about this illusory dynamic where klaus is caroline’s weakness (he’s not) and where caroline reformed klaus in some way (she didn’t). in fact, KC thrives on “would-be”s and being these “imaginary soulmates”. if caroline and klaus had actually interacted more and had more to do with one another, the ship’s popularity would have been tested by a relationship’s natural progression. but since KC were never rly given a chance, it can live in that ideal place of “canon without consequences”. 

the best i can say about them is that they ended up as friends, which is rather more appropriate. (their TO scenes read like two exes who are content with having put their brief stint behind them. in fact, they have far more chemistry as friends)

as for the chemistry, the first KC scene is probably the best because there was a certain warmth and mystery to it that it never managed to equal after 3x11. the rest of the season caroline kept acting more bothered by him than anything else (and not in a fun hot way). their scenes are always a combo of caroline going like “gawd! i can’t believe you’re here!” klaus: you can’t get rid of me so easily, love x 100 but without much impact on the storyline or on each other as characters. klaus doesnt really grow as a person until his stint on TO, let’s face it (and his time with his family and cami) and caroline’s “ethical dilemma” about klaus is not really dealt with (tyler is vilified for it more than her - not that she should be vilified but you don’t get the sense of real conflict) because this whole thing was not thought out very well. hell, even caroline’s attraction to him is infantilized. i mean…. klaus literally comes back for a few scenes just to have sex with her….okay. their emotional scenes are always stunted by lack of good writing (the scene where he stabs her and bites her and then she’s like “you’re in love with me and every person who loves is worth saving” ….is tonally weird, because it has not been earned and it jars with the rest of their dynamic, because such intimacy is hardly ever brought up again). i will say KC had potential for smth interesting, but it’s precisely because of their “no narrative strings attached” policy and because this ship ultimately isn’t that challenging that ppl latched onto to it. and i don’t fault them for it, we all like fast food, i just wish we’d be more critical about it. 

(sidenote about whiteness: i feel like caroline was a much easier self-insert to project on than hayley and camille who challenged klaus in far more intimate and visceral ways. again, caroline could have potentially challenged klaus like that, but she never got the chance)
