just had a professor be like "do you know what a motif is?" and while I understand why he asked it was also very funny
#like bud I've written a thousand words of media analysis today alone.#unfortunately motif is the kind of term that you can write thousands of words of media analysis and still not know wtf it actually is#it's just a really precise word and it's very close to but meaningfully distinct from a LOT of other lit terms#so it gets VERY watered down in actual language cuz you constantly gotta define it but in defining it end up misrepresenting it#anyway justice for motif best word best literary term it really is that bitch it's such a vibes based concept lmao
