Day 2 - Prongsfoot Week 2023

What’s your favorite type of Prongsfoot Story?  And if you’ve written it - link it?

oooof okay. very very repetitive, perhaps even boring, answer.

1. outsider pov.

i know, i know, everyone is fed up of me saying the exact same thing every time but i just!!! can’t get over it!!! these two are so ripe for random people being baffled/awed/horrified by their relationship 😭 i love an outside-in perspective on how they are bc for them, everything is routine, it’s just how things are. it’s only when u pan the camera out that u realise no, they’re the exception not the norm.

i’ve written one—from remus’ pov. this one from lily’s pov kinda also counts. id put both of them in the qpp side of things tho tbh.

2. omegaverse

spicing it up a lil this time ;) even tho i’ve not read many, i’m just. a sucker for this universe and omega sirius with alpha james will have my heart always <3

3. genderbent j/s

id blame dani and our arranged marriage fic for this but to be fair, i’ve always loved genderbending. keeping true to the characters while making such a broad change is just. delicious. and i love it when m/f friendships r transgressive n u just know prongsfoot will be exactly that. there’s a fic (two?) where jamie and sirius r bestfs and they still sneak into each others dorms/beds and act basically the same and it’s the best. i love it.

4. james coming back to life

i’m very sure that every single person who has this in their answers today is in this position bc of em and their wonderful fic and i’m not an exception but gosh, what a top tier trope. james coming back, being all protective and righteous and ready to fight for sirius in a way no one has done before. it’s just. exquisite. the perfect mix of angst and maybe age gap and love.

Ironwood killing Jacques before going after Winter is so funny to me because James didn’t even have to. Bastard was locked up and wouldn’t pose that much of a threat due to being a complete wimp. He killed him because Jacque was THAT annoying. He had already decided to go after Winter once he escaped and then was like “oh one more thing”.

And I think it's especially interesting because it's another time with those two characters that Jacques is actually the one in the right. There's no reason to kill him. He's a piece of shit and deserves worse, probably, but the fact that Ironwood takes the time to take him down specifically because he's so detached from reality and has decided that he's the only one allowed to make decisions about who lives or dies is less about Jacques himself and more about Ironwood losing the last shred of who he used to be.

You know how you hc that the twins battle each other all the time, and thus are basically their hardest opponents? That post you made about Ingo's brutal Path of Solitude made me desperately want Ingo and Emmet challenging each other to various versions, sometimes with Ingo having the upperhand like in the game, sometimes with Emmet making Ingo use a wurmple against a staraptor. And sometimes, for fun, they even make it a double battle. They make the most buff pokemon in existence and everyone is sufficiently terrified

they so would frfrfr. wait this reminds me i had two sort of mutually exclusive path of solitude points i wanted to make in the same post i'm just gonna do it here hang on

1) ingo was really like, here's a new style of battle challenge i'm introducing that's literally not done anywhere else even in the future, i invented it myself. the challenge is you have one single pokemon and you have to face a very difficult opponent and you're not allowed any other help than what you go in with and you're all alone forever. this is based on absolutely nothing at all and was inspired by nothing. i am fine.

2) path of solitude is really like turbo single battles honestly like of course the guy who is The Single Battles One came up with this. what do you think emmet would have done if he was here instead. would he be like ok pick a pokemon and i'm giving you an entirely random partner. no planning beforehand gotta figure it out when you open the pokeball and we start the battle. dwi.

and uh. there's a fic series about an AU where they meet as kids (though older kids, and not canon era) called Lancaster County, that I think is a Winnix Classique(TM) and should be read. Immediately.

and I've written something about this before, but I have it in my head that every time Dick finds something out about Lew's childhood, he becomes a thousand times more protective of him, or at least doubles his effort to be extra loving. I bet a lot of his late night musings consist of wondering about what life would have been like, had they found each other earlier. It would have been impossible, they occupied very different worlds, during a time when class divide would've been vast and fraught (they're Depression Era boys after all), but Dick isn't above thoughts of whimsy, and I bet he thinks about all his boyhood games and little boltholes and haunts and how he would've loved to show Lew all these things and places, if only to take his mind off his crazy home life. He sometimes tells Lew about this, and Lew would laugh and I suppose Dick would think he's humoring him, but I very much think that Lew would've wanted a friend like Dick, too. It sure would've made a lot of things a whole lot easier.
