i've revived myself in the submas tag to talk about the funny train blorbo. emmet has no escape from my grip <3
every day i play the game of how many games can i throw him into and so here's a new one: project sekai. i'm throwing him into the funny hatsune miku gacha game.
story: 16 year old kudari lives (what he calls) a sad life. he can't remember anything before being taken in by johanna at 14. as the new school year rapidly approaches, he can't help but wonder what kind of tracks the future will bring him to. he knows he wants to bring smiles to others but just doesn't know how. one day, a mysterious song called 'untitled' appears in his playlist and he's transported to his SEKAI. it's a magical train filled with many childish decorations. from there he meets miku and kaito before being sent back. he thinks it was all a dream, but little does he know it's the start of a new adventure.

As much as I like seeing angst (esp my fav characters’), I like it better when the angst is portrayed in a bittersweet and hopeful way.
So I'm glad that Tsukasa's 2nd unit event does just that--that Tsukasa has something to cling onto whenever he feels pain and sadness. All this time, it has been shown again and again that he likes shows primarily because it makes others smile. Sure, he personally likes standing on the stage as well, but as Tsukasa's 1st unit event shows, it was others' smiles that makes him truly feel happy.
But then what makes Tsukasa personally smile without having to make others happy? Piano. Not shows, but piano. At first it was for Saki, but it shifts as a way for him to stave off all his negative emotions. Now he mainly plays piano for himself, regardless whether it makes others smile or not.
It also answers my question about wxs relationship to music. Sure, they've done musicals, but Nene is the diva, the center of anything musical in wxs and not Tsukasa. So why makes Tsukasa the leader? Because he creates wonderland sekai by himself? It doesn't make sense because by that logic 25ji leader should be Mafuyu, not Kanade.
(I know the leaders are chosen because in a way they unite their groups, but the others also have some kind of relationship with music and arguably Hatsune Miku--even Kohane no matter how recent she knows music).
There's also another question about why there's a lot of musical motifs in wonderland sekai and from an area convo way back from the beginning, it's hinted that there's a piano in that sekai too.
This event finally answers all these questions. For Tsukasa, music can be said to be his personal safe haven. It's something very very intimate to him that even in a sekai created to make others smile through shows, music is everywhere. Actually, there's still an unanswered question about what song the flowers like to sing when no one request anything... Because iirc Nene doesn't know what song it is, so it's probably not from musicals or famous works (did Tsukasa try his hand at composing too when Saki was hospitalized...??)
Anyways this event also answers one of my stupid question about why both sekai symphony and colorful live specifically focus on Tsukasa during the lyrics 'happy ending plays out in the depths of hell'... Because even when Tsukasa was drowned in negative emotions (basically in hell), he never stopped giving a happy ending to anyone, even to himself. He makes Saki, Toya, and his parents smile with shows, and he managed to persevere through that hell by himself because he has piano (and probably with the plushies that are in his sekai... which are nowhere to be found in the real world).
This event is the Tsukasa focus event that I think Tsukasa fans has been waiting for. It’s basically about Tsukasa--his strengths and good sides, what makes him who he is right now, his relationships with everyone (Saki & Toya, wxs), and even tying up some loose ends from the unit story. I'm glad that it finally comes full circle.
I'm sorry, everything about this event just makes me feel so many things.
