I come for the interaction and the food | Miya Osamu
Category: crack, fluff
2k words; pseudo-reddit thread of Onigiri Miya
Tumblr media
The owner of Onigiri Miya
Yo dudes. So my friend was raving about the onigiri shop for ages, and she was so damn relentless that I gave in. And I like onigiri in the first place, especially negitoro, so I went (is this TMI?). Anyway I was like???? So damn shook when I went in because the owner is like???? Damn??? He's so hot and I am simping for him, and the female population in the shop was as well like hearts were flying out of their eyes. I'm going to go there every day and ugh I know it’s cheesy and cliché but I hope he notices me or something like that DON’T JUDGE I’M LONELY OKAY??
Comments [Anon]: I KNOW RIGHT LIKE EVERYONE IS IN LOVE WITH HIM AND HIS ONIGIRI UGH FOOD FOR THE EYES AS WELL AS THE STOMACH
[Anon]: Y’all are simping for a real person and I just have to say: LMAO ME TOO UGH HE’S JUST REALLY HOT AND PATIENT AND HIS VOICE IS SO NICE
[Anon]: YASSS HE REALLY IS AND HE ALWAYS COMES UP WITH NEW MENUS AND LETS SOME OF US TRY SAMPLES BUT IT’S ALWAYS. AMAZING. HE’S AN ONIGIRI GOD, I TELL YOU.
→ Continue thread
[Anon]: Um, OP? I don't know how to tell you this but… He has a girlfriend… like a really cute girlfriend who he’s been dating for years now.
[Anon]: Say what?
[Anon]: Hey what. What. I didn’t know this. I’ve been visiting his shop for like 3 months and I didn’t know this. What.
[OP]: Oh. Great. My romance has died even before it started. ;^;
[Anon]: Well you can join us obsessing over their relationship! She visits a lot and they’re cute all the damn time so frequent customers made a small online group to share episodes.

I just saw Hime and wow, damn
So I went to OM today—because wow it’s so delicious please open a second shop MyaSamu—and my eyes were blessed because WHO DID I SEE?? YEP, IT WAS HIME.
Like y’all know how he calls her Hime as a nickname, which is so [censored] cute, and SHE LIVES UP TO THE NAME. There’s like, a graceful aura around her and it’s sort of blinding? As soon as you see her, it’s like “Ah, yep. That’s her. No one else can be called Hime other than her.”
AND SHE GOT SO FLUSTERED WHEN I CALLED HER HIME BY ACCIDENT!! It just literally slipped out because I’m a [censored] idiot like that and she turned so red! And started hitting MyaSamu out of embarrassment! But her hits didn’t even look that painful and he was smiling so happily. My eyes were blessed that day.
Comments [Anon]: Oh my god you’re so lucky, I want to see him smile… I mean, he does, but apparently he smiles differently when he’s with Hime and I know that if I see that, my day will instantly become better.
[Anon]: Oh dude, you are not wrong. He somehow becomes more radiant. Just. How?
[Anon]: Imagine being that cute and beautiful together. What a power couple.
[Anon]: You know what happened once? I was really down while I was eating there because I got a bad grade, and she came over to talk to me!! Because apparently I looked way too sad and she was worried about me! UGH I’M FALLING FOR YOU HOW ARE YOU THIS KIND?! ARE YOU AN ACTUAL ANGEL?
[Anon]: This just confirmed, Hime was never human. She is the epitome of angelic grace here to save us and MyaSamu is so blessed for being with her.
Y’all are weird as [censored], why do you do this [censored]
Why are you guys obsessing over real people like that? I would be creeped out if I knew anyone does this, you guys are invading their privacy. Get a life and stop being so damn disturbing.
Comments [Anon]: ??? He knows about this. He literally checks up on this site a couple of times per week. He explicitly said to many customers “Thanks for liking me and my girlfriend so much. You guys are funny.” The [censored] are you on?
[Anon]: I asked Hime once before and she said it’s fine as well unless we’re stalking them or some [censored] like that. And we don’t. We’re just exchanging stories on our interactions with them inside the shop and how cute they are. He said it actually helps with his revenues and sales.
[Anon]: Literally. They’re just really cute. Like you look at them and boom, you have diabetes, no exceptions.
[Anon]: I think he said like half of his new customers came after seeing this thread, so back off
Ignore that person, GUESS WHO I SAW
Y’all might be thinking Hime, and yes, I did see her as well. BUT I ALSO SAW ATSUMU! He was hanging with Hime and teasing her so much. Then MyaSamu got annoyed and they nearly brawled there lmao perfect representation of siblings.
Hime tried to stop them and when they kept on fighting, she slapped them both on the back and shouted for them to cool it. MyaSamu I guessed since they’re going out, but she tamed Atsumu. Atsumu. My heart thumped because she was so awesome. Like, you’re cool, kind, sweet, amazingly pretty and on top of that, badass as well? Lady, you should be designated as a national treasure.
Comments [Anon]: Bruh. I live super close to OM. I go there practically every week. I’ve filled out the coupon like, 5 times. I’ve never met Hime once. AND YOU’RE TELLING ME THAT YOU SAW HIME AS WELL AS ATSUMU???? WHY HAVE THE GODS FORSAKEN ME??
[Anon]: How cool was she? I can’t imagine Atsumu folding to anyone that’s not his parents.
[Anon]: I feel like he would be rude to his own parents tho lol
[Anon]: True true
[OP]: She was like, the epitome of cool. Based on the sound of the slap I would have been rolling on the floor while crying in pain but they kind of seem used to it or something? She just glowered at them and they immediately shut up. I wonder if she was like that when they started dating as well.
[Anon]: I find it funny that everyone is focusing on Hime while Miya Atsumu, division 1 volleyball player and one of the members of Japan’s national team, is right there.
[Anon]: Atsumu pales in comparison to Hime. This is a fact.
[Samu]: True
[Anon]: ??? The [censored]? Are my eyes working? Is that… actually Osamu? As in like, the Osamu that we’re talking about? Like the owner of OM?
[Samu]: Yes
[Anon]: Okay then bye I’m never coming here ever again. Goodbye y’all and watch me die haha [censored]
Friend of Samu and “Hime”
I can’t really believe this actually exists but it’s really funny and kinda cringey to see everyone fawn over Osamu and “Hime” like this. I've been their friend since high school and let me give you a fact: “Hime”’s nickname during her time in school was Janus like the two faced God. Because she’s really nice all the time but once she gets angry, it’s over for everyone. Everyone.
So what do y’all do here, just share stories?
Comments [Anon]: Holy [censored] what. What. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THEM?? WHAT WERE THEY LIKE IN SCHOOL? WERE THEY STILL CUTE AND SWEET LIKE THE BEST BRAND OF CHOCOLATE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD????
[Anon]: YEAH LIKE WHITE CHOCOLATE
[Anon]: I’m sorry, but if you think white “chocolate” is good then please keep that [censored] to yourself because that [censored] embarrassing.
[Anon]: White chocolate is good!
[Anon]: You’re an embarrassment to humankind.
→ Continue thread
[Anon]: As the person on the above thread has said, could you share little stories of how they were like in school? If they’re fine with it?
[OP]: Hmm… well I’ll ask first.
I got the permission
Hm, I don’t really know what to say about their relationship though. I was friends with them for a long while but it wasn’t really surprising when they started dating. Osamu’s liked her for years. I heard they were childhood friends and were stuck at the hip with Atsumu as well, but she was closer to Osamu. Though that’s kind of a given, what with Atsumu’s [censored] personality.
She was one of the school council members and really popular as well. Always eager to help people, has a smile on her face and a complete disaster. She’s so damn clumsy and uncoordinated that I once saw her trip on air. On air. How. She’s terrible at cooking as well, like apocalyptic level. She somehow managed to burn rice in home economics class even with three other people keeping an eye on her. It was actually pretty impressive.
Anyway, Osamu was absolutely smitten with her and everyone with eyes or common sense could see it. Except for… you guessed it, her. He would literally be tripping over himself to help her and we were all like “boy, please be more subtle you are killing us”. Especially Atsumu since he had to deal with that even at home because they’re neighbours. I once took a photo of him making the most disgusted and annoyed face, but it got deleted when I changed my phone. An international loss.
Where was I going with this? Oh right, how they went out. I gotta go to sleep so I’ll post that later.
Comments [Anon]: ???? YOU’RE GOING TO LEAVE US HANGING LIKE THAT??? HOW ARE YOU SO CRUEL THIS ISN’T FAIR I CAN’T GO TO SLEEP BECAUSE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.
[Anon]: EXCUSE ME ARE YOU SKILLED IN TORTURE BECAUSE I AM LITERALLY DYING YOU CAN’T JUST BOUNCE AFTER TELLING US THAT. COME BACK!!!!
[Anon]: Dudes I have a good idea. Let’s spam them with comments.
[Anon]: Oh ho, smart, smart.
[Anon]: Dude
[Anon]: Dude
[Anon]: Dude
[Anon]: Dude
[Anon]: Dude

LOAD MORE
Damn you guys are persistent
Chill, I need my sleep as well.
Alright, this was a while ago so some facts might be inaccurate. Also she forbade anyone from commenting on it during school. It’s fine now though, and thankfully I was sitting next to them when it happened.
So Osamu always brings bentos and makes hers as well. He used to make them for Atsumu as well (unwillingly but had to since he complained about it so much) but stopped after like, the second time because they got into a fight. I think the reason was that Atsumu was whining too much about how he doesn’t like some of the side-dishes and Osamu snapped. That was a fun day.
We were eating in the classroom and enjoying our lunch when she blurted out something like “Osamu, you’re so good at cooking! You’d be a great chef. Your wife would want to let you cook for the entire time you’re together!” Which was fine because everyone knows he’s good at cooking. I think that’s what you guys call a gap moe or something, I dunno.
And Osamu just stared at her. You know what moment when you just feel something bad is going to happen? Like that chill in your back? Yeah, it was that. I sensed that from Osamu. Atsumu probably got it as well because our eyes locked and the red alarm of “STOP HIM” flashed in front of both our eyes.
But before we could interrupt, Osamu just smiled and said “I can cook for you like that if you want.” And I [censored] you not, everyone went quiet. We were staring at him like “??? Did you just propose before even asking her out on a date?” And her face, oh god I didn’t know her face could be that red or that her eyes could be so big. She was literally frozen while trying to eat like the rest of us watching them.
When she stayed frozen, it was like there was an error message saying “[Name].exe has stopped working. What the [censored] did you do.” above her head. Osamu eventually moved and dragged her out of the classroom. And they didn’t come back until the bell rang for the next class.
I don’t know what happened during the talk, but I guess he finally confessed because they were holding hands when they came back.
Anyway, yeah. That’s the story of how they went out. I have to sleep again so bye.

Context Is Everything
Part 3 of the Group Texts Are Forever series
McDanno, T, A03
Summary: After Steve is injured during his walkabout, Danny shows up in Seattle and for a moment, it seems like the boys are going to get their fairy tale ending, complete with a magical kiss. But nothing is ever quite that easy. Featuring Kono POV as well as Danny POV.
Chapter 1
August, 2020
CK: Hey Danny, how’s it going?
DW: Chin, did you finally join our group text? Beware, my friend, it’s wild.
CK: No, it’s just you and me, brah.
DW: Can’t believe you said brah in a text.
CK: You can take the boy out of Hawaii, but you can’t take Hawaii out of the boy.
DW: If you say so. You know you guys should visit more often.
CK: Since you mention visiting, I wanted to see if you and Steve needed a place to stay after he gets out of the hospital. Abby and I would love to have you.
DW: Thanks, Chin. Not sure of the plans, yet.
CK: How soon will they let Steve fly? You guys just going straight back to Oahu?
DW: I really don’t know.
CK: Ok, well, keep me posted. And give Steve a kiss for me.
CK: Danny?
CK: Sorry, did I overstep? Kono implied it was common knowledge that you guys were together. And I couldn’t be happier for you, to be clear. You’re meant for each other. In the best way.
DW: You’re fine, Chin. But I gotta go. Sleeping beauty’s waking up, and he’s cranky.
****
CK: Cuz, you there?
KK: Howzit, Chin. What’s up?
CK: Just wanted the update on Steve and Danny.
KK: Steve’s on the mend. They’re keeping him for observation for another day or two. And he might need another procedure on his eye.
CK: How’s Danny?
KK: Tired of the crappy food at the hospital, but okay I guess.
CK: I’m afraid I upset him.
KK: You? How is that even possible?
CK: I told him to give Steve a kiss from me.
KK: Oh.
CK: You told me they were together, Kono. That everyone knew. What’s going on?
KK: I’m not sure. Steve’s had a rough few days. I’ll talk to Danny.
CK: Let me know if I can help, ok?
KK: Always.
*****
Kono meets Danny in the hospital cafeteria. His face lights up when he sees that she’s brought a bag from a nearby café that’s known for its excellent coffee – although that’s not hard to find in Seattle.
“Kono, you’re the absolute best,” Danny says with enthusiasm, taking the cup from her and sucking down a long sip of the iced vanilla latte. Danny has always had a sweet tooth, whether he denies it or not.
“There’s some food in there, too. Some kind of strawberry rhubarb thing I thought you’d like.”
Danny wastes no time pulling the pastry out of the bag and taking a bite. “Delicious.” He sighs, leaning back in the stiff plastic chair. “Honestly, Kono, thank you.”
Kono doesn’t really think that coffee store pastries deserve quite this level of gratitude, but she gives Danny a quick hug around the shoulders anyway. “You’re welcome, Danny. How’s our patient doing today?”
Danny shrugs. “Kind of loopy. He had trouble sleeping, so they gave him something to help, and it’s hasn’t really worn off yet.”
Kono grins. “Amusing?”
“Unfortunately not.”
Kono feels the grin slide off her face, and she waits for Danny to go on.
“It’s not a big deal,” Danny says.
If it wasn’t a big deal, Danny wouldn’t look so miserable, Kono thinks. “It might help to talk about it,” she says softly.
“I just…” Danny taps his fingers against his thigh. “I’m not sure I should have come. I didn’t ask or anything. He left on purpose. What if he doesn’t want me here?”
“Danny, why on earth would you think that?”
“I dunno.” Danny stands, abruptly, and sucks down the last bit of his iced coffee. He’s clearly done talking for now. “I should go back up.”
“Want me to come with?”
“No, I’m fine.” Danny takes a step away from the table to toss his empty cup in the trash, then turns back to Kono and wraps her in a tight hug. “Thanks for being here,” he whispers into her ear, and Kono squeezes him back.
“You’ll come back to my place tonight,” she says when they part, her hand still on Danny’s arm. It’s not really a question. Danny’s been at the hospital nonstop, and it would drain even the most determined of them. “I’ll pick you up around seven?”
“Yeah, okay.” Danny gives her a small smile, and heads off towards the elevators.
Damn it, Kono thinks. Chin was right (he’s always right). All is not well with Steve and Danny.
*****
Kono looks out through the kitchen window at Danny sitting on her back porch, the now familiar mountain view framing the sight. Her little house is less than an hour away from Seattle’s bustle, but remote enough for some much-needed space at the end of a long day. She wonders if Danny is feeling how different this place is from Honolulu. For that matter, it’s a far cry from New Jersey, too.
Kono liked it, at first, how the pine covered mountains were so clearly a world apart from palm trees and tropical shores. She needed a change. And when the novelty wore off, she had her work, which kept her engaged (some would say, she knows, obsessed) in a way she had never been before.
It’s still her passion, this work, and she’s grateful for it. She wonders if it will wear thin at some point, when the pain of the losses becomes too much to bear, even if she can help save others in the process. It doesn’t seem like she’s putting much of a dent in the tragedy of sex trafficking, but at least for right now, she’s going to keep doing what she can.
She’s not really sure what’s up with Steve, why he’s left the island and his ohana. She can’t tell if he has simply grown bored with his job, or if there’s more to it. She suspects the latter, and the sad detective on her back porch strongly supports her theory.
For all that Steve looks banged up, Danny looks like he’s been through the wringer too. She could swear he’s aged significantly more than the actual number of years since she’s seen him, the lines around his face deeper, his short hair hardly hanging on to any remnant of blond. She knows Danny was injured back in the spring, just before Steve left Oahu, but that doesn’t seem to be what’s weighing him down.
Kono grabs a quilt from the back of her couch and goes out to join Danny. Danny’s sitting on a wooden swing, leaning over with his head in his hands. He looks up as she approaches.
“Hey, Kono.”
Kono sits next to him and drapes the quilt around them both. It’s chilly here at night, and Danny’s just wearing a dark t-shirt and jeans. He smiles at her, and runs his fingers over the quilt. It’s green and white, in a traditional hibiscus pattern. It used to lie on her bed, back in Hawaii, and it still reminds her of home.
Kono scoots closer to Danny, and he leans against her side, letting his head rest on her shoulder. She pushes her toes against the cool grass, just enough to start the swing rocking gently. The moon is bright, turning everything a glittery silver.
Danny doesn’t say anything, but he seems content, as they rock gently back and forth.
After a while, Kono decides that if anyone is going to speak up, it’s going to be her, so she might as well. “It’s really good to see you, Danny. I missed you guys.”
Danny nods against her arm. “Missed you too.”
She breathes in deeply, then out again. Danny smells of hospital and stale sweat, there’s none of the island clinging to him at this point. Fish out of water, just like her.
“Anything I can do to help?”
Danny fidgets, and then straightens up, the weight of his head lifting off her shoulder. “Like I said. I may have done the wrong thing, coming here.”
Kono holds her tongue (it happens occasionally). She couldn’t disagree more, but then again she hasn’t been home in a long time, hasn’t been part of Five-0, hasn’t seen Steve and Danny on a daily basis like she once had. “Why do you say that?”
“Steve left for a reason. He knew what he was doing. I’m… interfering.”
“Steve seemed pretty happy to see you.” This is an understatement – Steve was ridiculously happy to see Danny when he first appeared. That kiss was spectacular, and plenty mutual. The love-struck expression on Steve’s face could be seen from space.
“Could have just been because of the pain meds.”
“Do you really believe that?”
Danny shrugs. “I’m not as oblivious as some people think.” He pokes his foot at the ground to get the swing rocking again, jiggles his knee up and down. “We’ve got a pattern, me and Steve. Steve gets into a jam, does something ridiculous, and I go and get him. It’s so familiar, there’s a rut in the dirt to show for it. Doesn’t mean anything’s going to change.”
“Change?”
Danny glares at Kono, his creased brow clear as day in the moonlight. “My after the fact rescues haven’t ever been rewarded with a make-out session before, no matter what drugs Steve was on.”
“Danny,” Kono shifts, turning towards him. He’s clearly miserable, and she can’t figure out why. “Has he done something to upset you? I thought you’d be, you know, happy about this.”
Danny rubs a hand across his face. “I am, don’t you get it? I want to be, so much, God, I really do.”
Kono bumps her shoulder against Danny’s. “It’s normal to be nervous about the start of a relationship. Give it time, you guys will work it out.”
“That’s the thing,” Danny says, letting his hand fall to his lap and catching Kono’s gaze. “I’m not sure Steve wants to.”
*****
The next day, back at the hospital, Kono can see what Danny is talking about. Steve is feeling much better, more like himself, grinning at the nurses and exuding confidence as he powers through some preliminary exercises to plan out his physical therapy needs (he’ll probably ignore all attempts at physical therapy later, but he’s playing nice with the staff now). He brushes off the doctor’s hesitance when he talks about the potential damage to his eye, and cheerfully eats the red jello and tasteless chicken they bring him at lunch.
But he hardly looks at Danny.
Kono excuses herself for a few hours – there’s paperwork she still needs to do on their last op, and she has visits scheduled with several girls living in a group home nearby. When she returns around dinnertime, she finds Danny waiting for her in the hospital lobby.
“You can go up if you want,” Danny says. “But I’m ready to go, if you just want to head home.”
Kono stares at Danny for a minute, trying not to let her surprise show on her face. “Are you sure?”
Danny gives a sharp nod. “Yeah.”
They don’t talk much on the car ride back to Kono’s house. At one point Danny shakes his head and looks over at her, a lost expression on his face. “I asked him if he wanted me to give him some space. He said yes.”
“Oh… so…” She’s at a loss, too. “Did he, um, elaborate?”
Danny pressed his lips together. “He told me to come back tomorrow. He’s probably getting discharged. So I guess I’m allowed to be there for that.”
“Danny…”
“Don’t worry about it, Kono. It’s just Steve. He gets pissy when he’s in the hospital. He’ll mellow out.”
But Danny doesn’t look like he believes his own words, and it is breaking Kono’s heart.
****
Steve is in fact discharged the next day. Kono and Danny show up at the hospital just after lunch to find Steve sitting on the edge of his bed, dressed in the clothes Danny had brought him the day before, and raring to go.
He smiles at them both, apparently having mellowed (as Danny predicted) with the news that he can leave the hospital, and Kono sees hope in Danny’s eyes.
The car ride back is taxing. There’s traffic, and Steve is holding himself stiffly in the front seat, the movement of the car aggravating his injuries. Danny’s sitting in the back behind Kono, doing his best to distract Steve with random bits of trivia about their friends back home. Steve doesn’t respond much. Finally Danny asks if Steve wants to take another pain pill, and Steve snaps out that he’s fine.
A few minutes later, however, Kono glances over and sees Steve grimacing, pale and sweaty, his head in his hands. He’s clearly not fine.
“Hey, Steve,” she says quietly. “Want me to pull over for a minute?” She had always thought Steve was joking about being susceptible to motion sickness, but the stop and go traffic would get on anyone’s nerves, even if they didn’t have a recent head injury.
Steve’s got his lips pressed tightly together, and he gives a quick nod. Kono is able to pull off on the shoulder a minute or so later, and by this time, Steve is breathing through his mouth and looking decidedly green.
She rolls down the window on Steve’s side, but they’re still getting more fumes than fresh air. Danny leans forward from the back seat, looking worried. Steve just continues to take long breaths, pressing his hands against his forehead.
They sit in silence for a few uncomfortable minutes, the car shaking as the traffic speeds by them on the highway. Danny digs a water bottle out of his pack and hands it to Steve, who takes it and sips carefully.
“Want to try lying down in the back seat?” Kono asks. “You might feel better if you got horizontal.”
Steve apparently likes this suggestion, pushing the car door open and grabbing the back door before Kono even finishes her sentence. Danny is glancing out his window, calculating whether he’s got enough space to open his door without getting run over, when Steve climbs into the back seat and stretches out, planting his head firmly on Danny’s lap.
The look on Danny’s face is priceless. Kono can’t help smiling at him as Steve presses his face into Danny’s stomach.
Danny slowly lowers his hands from where they had flown up into the air when Steve barreled into the car. One hand lands on Steve’s shoulder, the other gently falls to his head. Steve shivers, leaning into Danny’s touch.
“It’s okay, babe,” Danny says, still disbelieving, as he cards his fingers through Steve’s short hair, careful of the strap holding Steve’s eye patch on. “You’re all right. Just relax, this is good, you’re good.” Steve clutches Danny’s side, Danny’s t-shirt bunching in Steve’s hand. Danny rubs Steve’s back. “We’re okay.”
Kono smiles at the sight, and then turns around in her seat and pulls the car back onto the highway. She doesn’t mind playing chauffeur one bit, not when things are so clearly heading in the right direction.
Kono and Danny get Steve settled back in her spare room, where Steve was staying while they were working together. It seems like it’s been weeks since Steve showed up to help her take down the latest bad guy. Steve announces that he’s not hungry and is just going to sleep, so they make sure he’s got a glass of water and his pain meds, and let him rest. Danny hangs back for a moment, and Kono sees him lean down and brush a kiss against Steve’s cheek. She can’t help letting out a sigh of relief.
Kono and Danny go through the motions of putting together dinner from leftover chicken and pasta, and retreat to the back porch again, this time with a six-pack of beer. Danny finishes two as they chat aimlessly about how Grace is doing in college, Charlie’s developing skills at a pitcher in little league, and whether Lou’s niece is going to make the varsity basketball team this year. Kono updates Danny on how her family back on Oahu is doing, and Danny asks polite questions about her father.
“Do you ever think about coming back?” Danny asks, reaching down to place an empty bottle on the ground and open another.
She knows he means to Oahu. “Of course.”
“Then why don’t you?”
“My work is here.”
“But…” Kono can tell Danny is looking for a way to say this that isn’t too abrasive. She’s not sure there is one.
“You don’t even come to visit. Not for holidays, special occasions, anything.”
Kono takes a sip of her beer. She can’t really deny it.
“Is it because of Adam? You wouldn’t have to see him. We could keep him away from you, you know. We’ve got skills.” Danny quirks a grin at her, and Kono can’t help smiling back.
“It’s not because of Adam, exactly.” She blows out a long breath. “It’s just easier to make a clean break from everything that happened there, that’s all.”
Danny gets a quizzical look on his face, studying her carefully. “Do you feel like you can’t come back?”
Kono feels a wave of shame, something she thought she had come to terms with raising its ugly head again. You ran away. Coward. You left your family. Shaking her head, she squares her shoulders and turns to Danny. “My family was pretty hard on me, for a while, for leaving. My father especially. But I think they understand now.”
She’s pretty sure they still hold it against her. But they talk on the phone as if nothing is wrong, so at least some progress has been made.
Danny leans back and rubs his chin with his hand. “What if Steve is doing the same thing?”
What, running away? Kono thinks to herself. Or feeling guilty? “Is he?”
“I don’t know.”
“Danny…” Kono lets out a long breath. “I know why I did what I did, why I’ve been staying away. Some good has definitely come of it. But I’m not sure it was worth it.” She might never know.
“Wherever you go, there you are?” Danny asks, his half smile apologizing for the attempt at humor.
“Maybe.”
Danny fusses with the label on his beer bottle, until he gets it off with a satisfied tug. “Isn’t home the place where they always have to take you in?”
Kono smiles. She’d like to think so, but… “Don’t they also say you can’t go home again?”
Danny snorts. “I studied economics, not English lit.” He sighs, waving his hands, his empty beer bottle along for the ride. “I just want Steve to be okay, whatever pearl of wisdom applies.”
“Me too, Danny, me too.”

Very similar/similar enough where if someone doesn't know a sheltie we mention shetland sheepdogs), our current one is a purebred that we got for free(she was being given away bc her family never came back for her and the lady taking care of her couldn't afford the time to take care of a second dog long-term think) and she's got pretty short fur in comparison- still fluffy enough, but not quite so long of fur-- she's a blue merle(absolutely gorgeous fur, she's like 8 now with a lot of health problems but she's super loving still 💕💞) anyways about the fur, so long as you brush regularly you should mitigate most of that, and it mostly collects in corners- but like.. be prepared to eat and wear dog fur for the rest of your life-- (actually there's a thing called a fur zapper we bought recent that you put in with your clothes when you wash/dry them(I think it's dry but idk??) that's supposed to get a lot of hair off your clothes in that process? Also lint rollers are your best friend--) AND roombas are really helpful(we bought a knockoff one and rarely have to sweep ever so 👀) XDD WHEEZE I can't even imagine what you did-- but like you could ask for a budgie/parakeet /hj I mean, they aren't very expensive (actually they're pretty cheap) but they're very loud, need a lot of attention(especially if you want them to bond to you!) and you need to research into them a lot to make sure you're doing things right-- loads of vids online!! Loads of websites too!!! I'd know I have one- JUST A WARNING, FEATHERS AND SEED HULLS GET ALL OVER YOUR FLOOR XD p l u s like you have a friend who knows stuff about birbs :3 anyways ENOUGH RAMBLING FROM ME WOW THAT GOT LONG--
💕💕 I feel that XD OMS-- I WISH-- WHAT A D R E A M - s n a k - Awww but what a mood XD
XDDD oms YES-- EXACTLY-- XDDDD another good thing you should try eventually is SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE WHICH IS APPARENTLY DELICIOUS??? I TRIED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME(AT LEAST IN A WHILE) TODAY AND IT WAS SO FUCKIN TASTY????
H E A THEN-- XDD how cool of them to try tho :3 whEEZE Y 'A LL-- XDD
WHEEZE I SUCK WITH INSTRUMENTS SOOOO-- DAMN THA'S SOME BAD LUCK MY DUDE-- MAYBE YOU'RE CURSED DAMN-- oms wOWW--
Yesss-- ooh I've never played 👀 seen some stuff but never played-- (see: my computer sucks XD) I h a v e played Portal 1 and it is SO GOOD and SO SHORT and I WISH I HAD GOTTEN PORTAL 2 INSTEAD BUT THATS OKAY CRIES-- YESSSS THE SONGS SLAP--- ALSO THERE ARE ACTUALLY TWO WHOLE MORE CANON(PROBABLY KINDA MAYBE NOT?? IDK) SONGS, ONE FROM A LEG DIMENSIONS GAME("You Wouldn't Know") AND ONE THAT WAS CUT FROM PORT TWO("Don't Say Goodbye"(Harry101UK made an edit to make it Glados' voice!!)) THERE ARE ALSO A BUNCH OF GOOD FAN SONGS SO YEAH-- ALSO NOT TO BE A SIMP BUT GLADOS' VOICE? PERFECTION. I LOVE HER. ALSO I COULD LITERALLY DETAIL THE PORTAL LORE I AM INCREDIBLY EMOTIONALLY INVESTED IN THIS GAME-- ALSO THERES A CLIP THAT SOMEONE MADE USING A (VERY GOOD) GLADOS TTS TO HAVE GLADOS SAY TRANS RIGHTS AND ENBY RIGHTS AND IF I FIND IT AGAIN ILL SEND IT TO YOU-- YOU COULD PROBABLY FIND IT IF YOU LOOM UP GLADOS SAYS TRANS RIGHTS? IT HAS A VIDEO WITH TRANS FLAG COMPANION CUBES ACCOMPANYING IT-- ALSO YES THE PORT MODS(/ADD-ONS? MAYBE? THEY'RE COMMUNITY MADE I THINK BUT IDK ALL I KNOW IS THAT THEYRE COOL AF--) (also I apologize for all the screaming? XD it's like, four am and I was talking about portal so.. whoops?)
Right like wth???? I???? Okay but like December to February babies just fuckin DONT EXIST IN THIS GEN OR SOMETHIN-- CAUSE I FIND N O N E -- Maybe there are more December babies but there are definitely like NO January to February babies it is So Weird--
NEJFQOBGKW WOWW d an g like-p l e a se s t op over sp r aying-- xD and LEGITTTT LIKE- THAT WAS M Y ROLE TO STAY UP LATE- XDD
WHEHEHEZE- LAUNDRY BASKET TIME- G E T I N XDD anD YESS- any doggo is just such a cute doggo 😭💞💞 but for me- fLUFFY ONES ARE WHERE ITS A T- and ohhhh i see- FOR FREE?? W H A T A S T E A L XDD but awwww the poor doggg at least she's with you now ! ;0;; 💞💞😭 aaw such a lovable puppup 😭😭💞 and oHHH i see :00 but oh no- xD i also have a friend that has two dogs and whenever he would give me gifts- there would be dog hair on them no matter what- XDD and ooOhhh those sound really helpful! omg- i swear i dont have to have a pet for the need of a roomba- i already shed so much hair myself its so crazy-- xDD and oH MAN loud animals are really gon get my mom fired up- and OO birds just look so cuteee i always fantasize of having one- but then again- with the noise and all xD the more i think about it i dont think we are prepared to have a pet at all xD but i still dream of at least having one pet in my lifetime!
and OO that sounds awesome!! i have no clue if i even tried casserole before- man- sometimes i just eat food without even knowing wth it is XDDD but THAT SOUNDS so gooodddd :O
and LEGITT LIKE- TF IS HAPPENING WITH MY SCHOOL LIFE- XDD and oh my god- IT GETS WORSE- that year there was a FREAKINGG FIREEEEEEE- it wasnt that dangerous thank god- but it had to get a whole ass room renovated because of it- and guess what room it was- THE ORCHESTRA ROOM- AND GUESS WHAT M A D E I T W OR SE- that year- it was the first time the school replaced those 10+ year old instruments with new ones- NOW THEYRE B U R N T- and mind you that the school's budget isnt so- gr e a t- like oh my god i am still so bewildered over HOW MUCH chaos HAPPENED that year- and i thought that year was gon be the year- yknow? like UGH
and OHH MANN playing portal sounds awesome! but i just dont think the game would be worth my money cause i know the plot- and even with the mods and all my brain would be broken as i would possibly have no clue what to do- xDDD
and HOOOO MANNN game fan songs are just so AWESOMEEE- and those sound pretty cool! :OO and HOLY SHIT FUCK YEAH- GLADOS SAYS TRANS AND ENBY RIGHTS Y A LL- now im gonna look that up and let my ears be blessed by such words- XDDD and DONT WORRY BOUT SCREAMING ALOT- i scream a whole dam lot too XDD
and LEGITTT- finding someone's b-day in january and feb is so rare all of a sudden like wh a t - XDD

Home now.
The pain underneath me is gone. There were tears. Lots and lots of tears.
I'm currently sitting up in my bed with a mountain of pillows behind me while munching on the most delicious peanut butter crackers I've ever had in my life. Going 24+ hours with no food will do that to you, I guess. My head is remarkably clear and I'm not really all that sleepy. Anesthesia affects everybody differently I guess. I didn't have that hard of a time coming out of it either.
What happened in pre-op is exactly what I was afraid of: my nerves flared. It was maddening. So I had a flare up where I couldn't sit still on top of 9-10 levels of pain from the herniated disc. I had to stand next to the bed and shift from foot to foot, and even that wasn't enough to give me any kind of relief whatsoever. It was one of the most awful experiences of my life, and I looked skyward more than once and snarled "THANKS." because of it.
My parents were allowed back after pre-op was finished, so for about the last 40 minutes or so before surgery. They were there when Dr. Even and the anesthesiologist both came, which was nice.
When my Dad asked what caused my disc to herniate, Dr. Even told him it can be basically anything to make it happen little by little, causing small amounts of pain, then something like sneezing can suddenly make it pop out a lot and cause 9-10 pain. I didn't do anything like that (that I remember) to suddenly cause such catastrophic pain... I just woke up that way. According to him, though, I didn't just herniate my disc, "she completely blew out her disc".
The pain I had today after 8 hours of no pain meds would make me readily believe that I blew out my disc. Holy God, it was the worst pain of my life. I couldn't even sit up to get to the hospital; my dad had to lay down a bed roll in the back of his SUV for me to lay on to get there, and I'm so thankful he thought to do that. I was actually comfortable getting there (or as comfortable as has been possible in the last five weeks), and we stayed in the parking lot until 15 minutes before my check in time so I could stay comfortable as long as possible.
The anesthesiologist was super nice as well. She was a young woman... and when I told her about my nerve flare from not taking my pain meds SHE TOLD ME UNDER HER BREATH THAT I COULD HAVE TAKEN THEM ANYWAY. THE FUCK, ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
She and a male nurse who was really chill and cool took me back shortly after that. Once we were in the OR he asked me if I had a favorite place to go, a vacation spot or whatever, and I of course said "Disney World." He smiled and laughed at that, said "That's a really good one! Go to Disney then." and that's the last thing I remembered. I didn't even have the chance to imagine it.
I woke up, and as soon as I realized who I was, where I was, and why, I realized the pain underneath me was effectively gone and I burst into tears, making the nurse panic a little bit. I had to tell her it was happy crying. Then the new pain registered in my lumbar area on my actual back (rather than underneath me), I told the nurse where it was hurting... or slurred it at least... and she put some wonderful injections in my IV. I was also spasming pretty bad so she also gave me a muscle relaxer injection, and then she fed me some ice chips. I was still loopy enough that they were heavenly on my tongue.
Right after that they brought my parents back and as soon as I saw them I started crying again that the pain was gone and it made my mom cry and then I felt kinda bad because I was still kinda loopy. Then they gave me another pain med injection and an actual pill to take, along with the most delicious apple juice ever because omfg my throat was so dry it hurt. It's still a little sore from the breathing tube and I'm hoarse af.
The loopiness actually wore off decently quick, about 30-40 minutes after waking up. I was able to transfer to a wheel chair and go to the bathroom pretty quickly, and not long after that I got the okay to go home. My mom helped me back into my PJs, and I was able to ride home sitting up in the front seat because it didn't hurt anymore. I mean my incision hurt, but the burning debilitating pain under my butt was gone. It's still gone.
Dr. Even told my parents that everything went exactly as it was supposed to, and I did great. He also said the nerve was so badly compressed (he used the term "mashed" to convey the severity) it was actually bruised. I didn't even know nerves COULD bruise. No wonder the pain was so mind numbingly horrible without the pain meds. He also said my pain should probably go from a 10 to a 2, and he was right. There's a lot of pain meds in me right now so I'm not feeling it at all, but I'll gladly take the achey 2 of a bruised nerve for a few days!
Like I said, the incision hurts. It hurts quite a bit. But even then it's like a 4 right now with all the pain meds? You'd better believe I'm going to have alarms set for the pain meds AND muscle relaxers from here on out. Even with the pain, though, I've been walking around this evening (albeit very slowly) now and then, as I was instructed to do.
I have been told to strictly remember BLT, like the sandwich, but for no Bending, Lifting, or Twisting. Bending must be done sparingly and from the hips, no lifting over five pounds, and my shoulders and hips must stay aligned while turning. I pay attention to the alignment of my shoulders and hips in relation to the tilt of my spine all the time when I get into poses to figure them out for my art, so that shouldn't be a problem for me at all.
That's all I can think of for now, so I'll leave it at that.
Thank you so much to all of you who have liked my posts about this whole saga and/or left comments for me. I've appreciated each and every one, and they've made me feel very loved for something other than my art.

When I moved to Amsterdam in 2015, there was something I was very disappointed in– the food scene. Yes, you can find good food but compared to New York where I’m from, the price-quality ratio here is incomparable. This is especially true for Asian food like Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese food, which except for One Dim Sum, I tend to avoid at all costs in Amsterdam.
However, be still my Asian foodie heart, when I went to Rotterdam a few weeks ago, I found delicious ramen and pho among other foods. In just one weekend in Rotterdam, I discovered a handful of places I loved whereas in Amsterdam, it’s taken me over a year of continuous trial and error. Anyways, enough food snobbery and comparing Amsterdam to Rotterdam to New York, let’s get on with where to eat in Rotterdam.
– Pin now, eat later! –
Hinoki Noodles
If you want authentic Japanese ramen, then Hinoki is the place to go. They import their noodles from Japan and store them at an optimal temperature so by the time they’re cooked and served, the texture of the noodles combined with their ability to cling to the broth soothes your palette and soul. The broth at Hinoki Noodles is on the lighter side and makes for a great ramen that won’t weigh you down.
What to Get: My husband has been here three times over two trips, and every time has gotten the Special Black Garlic Ramen. I’ve also gotten that one and the one without the black garlic. They’re all really good. I also recommend getting Karaage as an appetizer. It’s five pieces of tender fried chicken.
Good to Know: This place has vegetarian and no pork options. See the menu here.
Address: Keizerstraat 52
Located Near: Blaak station, Cube Houses, Markthal, Cool District
Pho Hanoi
Out of all the phos I’ve tried in Europe, Pho Hanoi has broth taste, meat rawness and types, and even noodle thickness that I love. It’s a no frills type place so it’s all about the food, not the ambiance. However, on a nice day, you can sit out on the square that’s full of cozy cafes and independent shops.
What to Get: Pho bo (traditional beef noodle soup) and Goi Cuon (summer rolls with shrimp)
Good to Know: This place has vegetarian options.
Address: Botersloot 58A
Located Near: Blaak station, Cube Houses, Markthal, Laurenskerk
P.S. I’ve been to two pho places in Rotterdam over my two trips there. This place is clearly the winner.
POSSE
Before diving into your food, you will be wowed by the decor of this restaurant, or rather, this restaurant/gallery. It is full of knick-knacks, art, and vintage furniture, and for lack of better words, is a really cool place. But to be honest, I’m not into how a place looks when it comes to restaurants. It’s all about the food, and luckily here, the food is on point. Everything is cooked to the right temperature and has the right flavors and sauces to complement whatever the star of the dish.
What to Get: I believe the menu changes, but when I came here I got the calamari in tomato sauce appetizer and duck breast as a main course. Considering that those two very different dishes that most places cannot do well were good, I’d feel ok with choosing anything on their menu!
Good to Know: This place has vegetarian options.
Address: Veerlaan 19a
Located Near: National Photography Museum, Pinball Museum, and in a neighborhood that reminds me of Brooklyn about 10 years ago
Sajoer
Ever go to a European city and have trouble finding a decent salad, or at the very least, something healthy to eat? Well, that’s not a problem in Rotterdam with Sajoer around. This spot is the vegan or health conscious person’s dream eatery. Its full of sweet and savory juices, acai bowls, soups, and drinks.
What to Get: I got the acai bowl, which was tasty and surprisingly so filling. For someone who eats a lot, I really had to struggle to finish it. Oh the pain.
Address: Botersloot 46A
Located Near: Blaak station, Cube Houses, Markthal, Laurenskerk
Lof der Zoetheid
Lof der Zoetheid is full of tempting desserts and pastries and is a great spot to come in the afternoon after a day of shopping or playing tourist. If you’re a tea lover like me, you’ll be quite impressed with the quality of their tea as well as the presentation. You get a bunch of looseleaf teas in jars, scoop what you want into a tea bag, then pop it into your glass of hot water.
What to Get: Not exaggerating– every dessert was delicious. As you can see, we tried a bunch. Also, if you like tea, then get the house blend named after the cafe.
Address: Noordplein 1
Located Near: a good shopping street that has &designshop, Kitchen Supply Store, and a specialty whiskey store
Notable Mention: Op Het Dak
I fell in love with Op Het Dak’s concept as soon as I entered the restaurant. They have their own garden, which they source from, and use local, organic, and sustainable products. For those who care about where their food comes from, this is an absolute dream. Also, being able to walk around the garden and see Rotterdam from a rooftop is quite reviving.
This deserves a notable mention because the ambiance and concept is fantastic and the visual plating of the food is quite artistic, but the food didn’t quite get me there. I loved it because I knew where the food came from and how healthy it is, but all the flavors combined didn’t do much for me, and I thought some things could’ve been cooked better like the roasted vegetables.
But I’d come back here again to support an establishment like this. Plus, the staff and chefs have an extremely jovial air about them, which adds to the already pleasant environment. I came here for a five course dinner in which Op Het Dak partnered with a local restaurant so perhaps lunch from their own daily menu would be way to go.
Address: Schiekade 189
There are sooo many places in Rotterdam to eat that I have yet to uncover, but I’m sure to be back again soon. Now what are you waiting for? Enjoy yourself, and eat!
Thanks for stopping by! xo.

Daddy Please (Prologue)
Because i totally suck at naming my stories .-. ANYWAY HAVE FUN
********
“Didn’t I tell you to have my food ready?!” He shouted as he threw the vase.
I shouted out in surprise as it crashed against the wall centimeters from my head shards cutting into the side of my face where I recoiled from. “I’m sorry!” I cried “I got home late from class! Your dinner is in the oven now!”
Pain shot through the top of my head down as he took a fistful of my hair in a vice grip and tugged me forward harshly. “That isn’t what I asked you stupid bitch!” he sneered. he was so close to my face and reeked of alcohol.
My breath started coming out in short gasps. My chest constricting in pain from trying to get air into them. “I’m sorry..” I gasped out.
more pain greeted me as I was thrown to the floor. He flipped me over as he straddled my waist.
No.
“Sorry what?” he growled.
Please.
“Sorry M-master” I whimpered. The edges around my vision started going black. the pain in my chest intensified.
“I think Kitten needs to be taught a lesson again in how to obey.” that smile. that disgusting, creepy, leering smile.
My heart sped up in fear. “No! No please it won’t happen again!” I shouted as I thrashed against him. he just sat there with his smile growing bigger.
a hand came down and wrapped themselves around my throat. Grip tight as it cut off some of my air. “Ohh but you said that last time kitten and look where it got you.”
the tears came heavy now as the pain in my chest got worse.
Air.
Need…Air.
“Please…” I gasped out. “Master…the food.”
“we’re not going to worry about that right now.” I cringed as I felt a cold hand pushing my shirt up and undoing my pants. “You need to be taught a lesson.”
~~~~~~~
My eyes flew open and I quickly pushed myself up and on my side as I tried to gulp in air. The tears hot as they ran down my face. I clutched at my chest as I felt the walls closing in on me. Shit. I whimpered as I untangled myself from the sheets and walked over to right wall. I banged on it hard three times before I slid down to the floor. “Dania,” I called out weakly “Someone…help.”
I was still trying to get air into my body, but it turned into choked sobs. “Please…” I choked out “Please…I’m…sorry.”
I heard a door open and the lights came on. “Kelah!” came my friend Dania’s voice. She rushed over and kneeled down to where I was. “Kelah breathe.”
“H-help” I told her “I…n-nightmare.” why won’t my body listen to me? I need air.
“Was it him again?” She asked quietly.
a mix between a gasp and a sob wrecked through me. She then shushed me as she rubbed soothing circles around on my back. “Girl you need to breathe.” she said no edge in her voice whatsoever. “it’s okay. you’re in your room. He’s gone. He won’t hurt you anymore. you’re surrounded by your friends. Breathe.”
Air was coming easier now as I listened to her voice. I felt my body relaxing as I slouched against the wall. “There we go.” she smiled at me.
I wiped at my tears with a shaky hand and looked up at her with a small smile. she had on a simple red shirt with some black shorts as a choice of pajamas. “I’m sorry. I know it’s been a minute.”
she shook her head. “it just took me off guard when I heard the bang on the wall, but stop apologizing!” she nodded towards the door “You need a smoke?” I looked over at the clock realizing what time it was. 2:43 AM. I shook my head.
“Nah, we have to be up in a few hours.” I replied as I rubbed at my chest again. Now a dull ache. “I might have one before we head out to class.” I said as an afterthought.
She nodded in understanding. “will you be good to go back to sleep?” she asked with concern.
I nodded and gave her a smile. “I’m okay now. thank you.”
She looked at me for a second more before she stood up. I followed her motion with my hand on the wall for a bit of support. She walked towards the door and waited until I was situated back in bed before she gave me one last smile and turned the lights off. closing the door behind her as she went back to her room.
~~~~
The obnoxious alarm I had set went off at about 8:00 AM it’s unbearable noise cutting through the peaceful silence. I reached out and felt along my bedside table until i found my phone before sliding it to the floor with a groan. “I want to sleep.” I mumbled to myself. the sound continued. Did that shit get louder? With a huff I pushed the covers off of me and grabbed my phone from the floor and shut the damned thing off. I sighed as I tried to bury myself back up under the covers and go back to sleep.
What felt like seconds later, I heard my door open. “Kelah,” Came Dania’s voice “Need to get up girl we have to stop by the shop today.”
“I know I know.” I replied sitting up and accepting the fact there would be no going back to sleep.
“You have your recipes ready?” she leaned up against the door in her ripped jeans and black shirt as I got up out of bed and walked to my closet to get ready for the day.
I nodded over towards the desk on the opposite side. “In the blue folder all ready to use. I even made copies.” I decided on simple black jeggings and a red v-cut shirt. I walked out and down the hall to the bathroom. I then brushed my hair and took a black beanie that I brought with me and neatly tucked the back of my shoulder length hair under and styled the few front strands out. I brushed my teeth and rinsed then walked back down the hall to the kitchen where she had coffee ready. “Thanks lady.” I told her happily. I leaned against the breakfast bar of our shared apartment while I sipped the welcoming beverage. “I felt like I hardly got any sleep.”
She leaned back against the counter as she drunk her ice cold tea. “Well after last night I wouldn’t blame you.”
I couldn’t help but sigh “It’s been two years though don’t you think I should be over this?…over…him?” I asked as I set the cup down on the counter. “I mean…it seems pathetic that I’m still having panic attacks over him.”
She shook her head. “he abused you and took advantage of you, it takes time. Even if it’s longer than two years.” she explained with a sympathetic gaze.
I groaned and leaned my head on my arm. “look at you sounding all wise, go back to being my extra ass friend please.” I told her with a laugh to dispel the gloomy mood.
She laughed along with me and set her cup down as well. “In which case get yo ass moving. Jay will be calling us if-” her sentence was cut off by the sound of a phone ringing. She face palmed herself before she reached in her back pocket and pulled her phone out already knowing who it was. “What bitch?” she answered on speaker phone with a smirk.
“Where the hell are you guys?!” her voice shouted through the other line. so much for a peaceful and easy morning. “The shop will be opening soon and I still need the new recipes for the menu from Kelah to hand out to the cooks! Yall need to get your asses moving!”
“ok ok mom! we’re getting ready to walk out the door now!” I shouted as I ran back in my room grabbed my backpack and the folder with the copies of the recipes and ran for the door with Dania behind me.
“the fuck you call me?!” She shouted still on the line. I laughed as I slipped my black and white converses on.
“Well you do sound like a mom rushing her kids” I retorted.
I heard a huff come from her “Get your asses to the shop now before I fire your asses!”
“Okay one, you love us way too much to do that.” Dania cut in laughing as well.
“Two, all I really do is write up the recipes to help out, I mean I guess you could but that means loosing out on my delicious creations.” I shrugged.
“Kelah for fucks sake-” Jay started already exasperated.
“Alright we’re on the way!!” I giggled as we walked out the door and Dania locked it behind us before we started making our way towards our cafe.
~~~~~
Somewhere else in town, a man stood at the stove making omlets. Another one, tall with blonde hair stumbled out into the kitchen and into a stool in nothing but basketball shorts. “About time you got up.” The first man laughed as he flipped the omlet. “Your coffee is ready.”
The tall man smiled as he picked up his cup and sipped humming at the warmness coursing through his veins. “Thanks love.” He replied.
The first man took the omlet off the skillet and put it on a plate and set it in front of the other guy then sat down with him at the table. “And I get to have some of your awesome cooking? ugh how did I get so blessed with an angel such as you Hoseok?” The tall man said with grin as he started to dig in.
“By not being cheesy and going to get ready Namjoon. Don’t you have class soon?” the man named Hoseok answered with a chuckle as he dug into his stack of pancakes.
Namjoon swallowed his mouthful “oh yeah! but before I do I want to talk with you about something!” he said excitedly.
Hoseok looked up and tilted his head to the side. “Those are never good words.”
Namjoon waved his hands in front of him “No no it’s not all bad babe I swear!”
Hoseok raised an eyebrow at that. “ok…then what’s gotten you so excited?” he said cautiously.
Namjoon looked down as suddenly he found his breakfast more interesting. “So I’ve been thinking-”
“Not exactly sure if that’s a good thing or bad thing.” Hoseok chuckled again as he sipped at his own cup of coffee.
At that Namjoon pouted “Just listen!”
Hoseok leaned in and placed his chin on his hand which was on top of the table “ok you have my full attention now.”
“So,” Namjoon started again. “I’ve been thinking, you know I love you with everything I have right?” there was a mere nod as an encouragement to continue from Hoseok “I was thinking maybe it would be kinda fun to add…a third person to our relationship?” He looked up at Hoseok and seen confusion in his lovers eyes. “it’s not that I’m bored with you or anything!” he rushed on “I just thought maybe it would be a nice change. Something different for in the bedroom. I think it would be nice, but I want to know your thoughts on it too.”
Hoseok tapped his other hand on the table in thought then smiled “I’m not opposed to it at all hun.” He replied with a twinkle in his eyes. “But I want it to be a girl. No other man can have you.” Namjoon’s face lit up at his answer “a cute princess for us to spoil….yeah I wouldn’t mind that.”
“I was thinking that.” Namjoon agreed.
“But don’t go like interviewing them Joonie! let it happen naturally! We would have to take careful steps into introducing her to our kind of lifestyle.” Hoseok explained.
“Have more faith in me will you babe?” Namjoon whined and Hoseok laughed.
“Go get ready we don’t need you being late.”
Namjoon nodded and leaned over the table to give Hoseok a kiss “Try to behave for me while I’m gone.” he whispered lowering his voice a few octaves.
Hoseok groaned at the statement “Mmm I’ll try daddy.” he replied with a devious smirk.
Namjoon pulled back and gave Hoseok a once over before rushing out of the kitchen to get ready for the day.
Let’s see where this goes :)
Going to Dumaguete and Siquijor didn’t appeal to me before because first, I don’t know anybody there, and second, I haven’t heard anything touristy about it – until I realized how wrong I was.
John (who was then the boyfriend, not until he proposed in the plane right before we landed to Dumaguete) has grandparents who live there, and part of our itinerary was to meet them. This is actually the first trip we’re having as a couple, and meeting his grandparents really placed some shivers down my spine.
Note: A long post awaits you. I wanted to give you details of our trip, as a form of reference when you go there. Go ahead my wanderer merfriend! :D
DAY 1
We arrived on a rainy Sibulan airport, and goodie I haven’t forgotten my Cebuano, we managed to build rapport with the guards and locals, and one of which is our trusty and friendly chauffeur Kuya Judy.
He was supposed to take us to Harold’s Mansion, because that’s what I was eyeing based on the blogs I’ve read about going to Apo Island. I was thinking of placing our reservations; since we’re planning to go there on our 4th day. They were particularly difficult to contact too, since my Facebook messaging and SMS attempts remained futile, so I thought going there was the best idea.
Kuya Judy was so helpful because he advised that we can do Apo Island on DIY. I was hesitant at first, but he said we will save a lot if we just do it ourselves. So we opt to have breakfast first at Sta. Teresa Resto. This was one of the few restaurants that are already open at 6AM.
While we eat, Kuya Judy offered to run to the Dumaguete Port to buy us ferry tickets to Siquijor, since that was also our plan after Harold’s Mansion. Kuya Judy was even offering his ID to us, just so we have something to hold from him and to ensure that he’s coming back with our tickets. He was soooo nice! But we told him we didn’t need it. :)
He was able to score us 10AM ferry rides to Siquijor, and since it is just around 7:00AM, he said that he can tour us in Dumaguete. I actually thought John and I are never going to tour the city because we may be pressed for time, but oh well, we can put the 3hours to good use, so we gladly agreed.
We visited Cathedral of St. Alexandria the Diocese of Dumaguete first. The bell tower was enormous.
We also went to the Chinese Temple’s Bell Church, and offered some incenses after we used some bean-like stones and long sticks for fortune guide. The place was well-maintained, to think that they only ask for donations. It was also undergoing renovation, and I can’t wait to go back to see how it will all turn out.
We weren’t able to snap photos inside. It was prohibited. :(
Anyhoo, we also had the chance to get foot massages, and they were divine, and a little ticklish.
We boarded the ferry at 10AM at Dumaguete port, and arrived to the bright and happy Siquijor. We booked a tricycle and it cost us P300. I booked us to Islandia Beach Resort, and it’s located in San Juan Siquijor. It was relatively far, around 30 to 40 minute drive from the port, but once we got there, it was worth it.
We also made friends with our neighbours, and one of them was actually in the same plane, and he heard the proposal. He was like, “Kayo pala yun!”.
We checked in to Islandia Beach Resort, and was greeted by this spacious accommodation.
This reminded me of room in Isle Esme, where Bella and Edward Cullen had their honeymoon in Breaking Dawn. What do you think?
John and I were so tired with the trip and were so amazed by our accommodation that we slept the afternoon away. So much for our beach bumming plan. Huhu
DAY 2
Kuya Ronald, our driver picked us up at 8AM, so we had breakfast early that morning, and of course some photo ops! Haha I’m so kilig how John is such a natural Instagram boyfriend, oh I mean fiancé . (He might read this blog too. Haha He’s particular with the names I call him. Hehe)
Siquijor is just a small island, and you can tour it for a day. Most travellers I know only spend a daytour here, but I thought we need some freshening up and a good sleep so I booked us 2D and 2N in Islandia.
I was so inlove with this island, and its people. Everybody was soo kind and accommodating. The entrance fees are so cheap too.
Balete Fish Spa
Entrance Fee: P10.00 per person
The fishes were so hungry that they were all looming over John’s feet. Even a milkfish joined the fun! There were a lot of foreigners there too.
If you need the loo, there is one near the place, and you just have to pay P5.00 .
In buying shirts or sandos, I recommend that store across the fish spa. I like their designs more, and the prices are cheaper. So we bought these!
San Isidro Labrador Church
It was a big and old church. You know what they say when you go to a new church, you can make a wish! So I made one, and also lit some candles.
The sun was extra sunny that day, not to mention the weather was all perfect for the tour. We couldn’t be happier.
Cambugahay Falls
Now this is my favourite. I was shocked that there was no entrance fee. When we arrived, a guy approached us and introduced himself. He is Sir Justin, and he will be our guide. I highly advise that you avail their services, they can guide and help you while you’re trekking this beautiful attraction.
There are 3 falls in Cambugahay. The first was wide, and rather deep. Only a few people jump and stay there.
The 2nd one was shallow, and was only till the waist. It was a good place to get a water back massage.
The 3rd one was the most popular of all. The water was clean and cool. You can take turns to do the Tarzan Jump and even take the leap from the side. Our guide even taught me to face the camera while holding the wielding handle.
I was shocked to know that after my Tarzan Jump, the basin was indeed deep, and my feet didn’t reach the bottom. So I paddled and soon enough, my feet reached the bed. Haha and I was alive! I took another turn because it’s addicting like that!
I also took 2 leaps in a rather 10ft. distance. I thought it was a good way to practice for our Cebu canyoneering in November.
We ended around 12noon. Actually there were people who were selling packed lunches at the entrance that cost P150.00 each, but we didn’t buy. We were thinking of having lunch somewhere else.
Salagdoong Beach
This was rather far, but the road to it was a site to see. The trees lining a trail formed a wonderful view, meeting at the top, that it forms a canopy. That is why I asked Kuya Ronald to stop, and let us have a quick photo. This was rather tricky because a lot of cars and tricyles were passing by, so we need to be quick in snapping those photos. I am so thrilled Kuya Ronald was so game to take our shots.
We were already starving, and good thing Salagdoong Beach had a mini restaurant. The prices are reasonable, although it took them a while before they served our food. Good thing, they were delicious! It was also a good way to let time pass by as well, as we await the sun to set a little.
The beach is actually a resort, and you can book an overnight stay. I read a lot of people wanting to spend the night here, but given the time, we would too. However, Islandia Beach Resort was a sweet treat and we couldn’t leave it; maybe next time, we’ll book here!
There are two sides of the beach separated by stone landscapes. What I didn’t like though was the beach was extra rocky, and it hurt my feet pretty bad. The sand wasn’t so powdery either. The sand crystals were rather bigger than most beaches. And these made John and I realize that we should invest in aqua shoes! Haha Accio Aqua Shoes!
The water was extra wavy that day, and the current was strong. We enjoyed it all the same though, jumping in between strong waves. It’s a good work out I guess!
John and I bought Torta as per Kuya Ronald’s recommendation. We bought 2 Tortas for us, and 10 more for Kuya Ronald and his family. :)
We ended the day by having a sumptuous dinner back in Islandia with our new found neighbors, I mean friends! Haha :D
DAY 3
We woke up really early, because we had to go at 4AM for our 5AM ferry boat ride. Kuya Ronald was as punctual as ever. We got in time to Siquijor Port. We were actually worried because 5AM tickets might be sold out, but it wasn’t!
You can choose to have the regular boat like the one in GL Shipping Lines that’s going to take 1 hour and 30 minutes, or Ocean Jet for only 45 minutes. Well, we already bought our tickets when we found out about these. Anyway, it’s just a few tens difference. :)
We met Lolo and Lola, and had breakfast first at Foodnet.
Here are our cute instructions on how to get to Manjuyod Sand Bar:
We took the bus going to Manjuyod in Rizal Blvd. with “Manjuyod” as the signboard. We didn’t go all the way to the terminal as it was counterproductive. So if you’re near Rizal Blvd., you could just wait for the buses that pass there. We alighted at Bais Police Station.
We rode the tricycle to the port, and boarded a boat at P2,000.00 with all the 4 of us. We just added P250 each for the food.
It was a 30-minute boat ride to reach the Manjuyod Sandbar. We got there at 10AM though, so it was already high tide. But it was still beautiful. I just felt swimming sa “baha” though. Hehe There were a lot of boats nearby too, and swimming tourists.
The sand was powdery, the water and air was cool amidst the burning the sun. It was perfect, not until I got stung by a jellyfish in the arm. Thank you very much! It felt weird though, and I felt the venom making its way under my skin. Goodie we were able to ask for some vinegar in the nearby boat. It pacified the pain somehow.
So note to self, bring vinegar when you’re going to Manjuyod. Well, just a precautionary measure. :D
We got back to the city, and checked in at Worldview Hotel.
Since we still have time, we strolled around Dumaguete and tasted the much coveted cakes of Sans Rival. They were yummy! I wonder why there is no Manila branch yet.
It was a wonderful feeling, getting lost in the city. You wouldn’t mind being lost anyway, because a tricycle will always be there to bring you to your hotel. It’s a small town, and everyone most likely knows where your hotel is. Plus the tricycle fare is just P8.00 each.
We happen to stumble in the park where an event is taking place. It was like a dancing contest, and we stayed for a while to watch these sprightly kids take on center stage.
We had dinner in this Japanese restaurant called Misune, and the food tasted healthy and fresh! I’m definitely coming back.
DAY 4
It’s our Apo Island Day, and well, no tourguide! Just pure DIY! OMG! This was a first, and we felt brave channelling our adventurous selves into this new place.
Here are our cute instructions on how to get to Apo Island:
We went out of the hotel at 7AM, and rode a tricyle to Siaton near Robinsons Dumaguete.
Take a jeepney to Malatapay Zamboanguita.
Walk towards the Apo Island port. Roughly around 10minutes.
This is the tricky part, you will rent a boat, and it would be better if you find some people who will share the boat with you, unless you’re a group with just the right number, as to minimize the cost per person. Since we’re a couple, we really need some people to share the boat with.
Boat Rentals:
4 seater – P2,000 / 6 seater – P2,500 / 8 seater – P3,000 / 10 seater – P3,500
4 seater boats usually are used first, that is why if your number is 4 below, it is better to go here early, so you can book the small boat. Good thing 4 Taiwanese travellers were in need of company too, since the only available boat is an 8-seater, we had to pay P3,000 and that’s P500.00 each. Not bad actually! Plus we made new friends!
You can buy food at the port already, because the food in Apo Island is a bit pricey, plus you still have to pay for the guide (which is required, and I also highly recommend Kuya Gerard; he was so skillful in diving and we handed him our action camera to which he took great photos of the sea), cottage table, and the gears you will use when you go swimming with the big turtles.
The turtles were huge and beautiful. It was sad because we went a bit late; the locals said that a lot of turtles go near the shore as early as 6AM!
After snorkeling and swimming, we had our lunch and took a stroll in the island. I was shocked that there is a community here. I actually thought that this is just an island used for tourism, but no. There are schools, a village, a basketball court, a lagoon, and an overlooking view from a hill. It was a beauty to behold!
At 3PM, we decided to go back. Our new friends are very accommodating too, we had a lot of time to talk about their country, their culture, and how they love going back to the Philippines. John and I wanted to visit Taiwan soon too because of them.
Going back was just the same. You could either hire a tricycle that will bring you back to the city, that will also cost higher, or you can wait for a jeep, but this was rather a long wait than I expected. If you’re a couple or probably 3 people travelling together, waiting for a jeep may be the best thing to do. But if you’re 4 and above, I suggest that you book a tricycle, and split the fare.
Jeepneys that pass by are rather full, and may not accommodate everybody at once.
We got to Dumaguete, and picked our stuff from Worldview Hotel. And moved to Coastal Inn. I booked it way before this trip, and since saving was the priority thing I have in mind, I got attracted to its price because duuuh, it’s just P430 a night!
I was thinking that we’ll arrive late from the tour that day so we we’ll just sleep, and we don’t need anything fancy. Well, lets just say we got the value we paid for.
After getting refreshed, we went back to SanS Rival, just because. And bought pasalubongs too! We bought the Butter Silvanas Sans Rival for P150 a box. If you want to buy pasalubongs, it’s best to buy it here in the main branch. Airport prices are relatively higher of course.
If you’re just concerned on about them being spoiled because you haven’t brought a freezer with you, don’t fret. The silvanas are strong, haha they will just feel softer, and you can put them back in the freezer or chiller once you get home.
We had dinner in Kri. And can I just tell you, that the food was prepared like gourmet, and who would have thought that this place could serve such great food! I will blog about my review in another post.
DAY 5
Flight back to Manila!! We didn’t book a tricycle going to the airport, we just hailed for the bus in Rizal Blvd. :D
Here is the breakdown of our expenses and some people you would want to contact when you go there. Enjoooy!
Kuya Judy (Dumaguete Tour) – 0905.879.86.52
Kuya Ronald (Siquijor Tour) – 0906.886.97.80
All prices are in Philippine Peso though. :) I think you can still try to maximize a budget even for as low as P8,000. We were a bit lucrative with the food, so you know where to save if ever!
I hope this blog enticed you more to visit Dumaguete and Siquijor. Promise, it’s all worth it! Please let me know your thoughts about this and comment down below! :D
DIY Dumaguete-Siquijor Trip and Itinerary (5D/4n) Going to Dumaguete and Siquijor didn’t appeal to me before because first, I don’t know anybody there, and second, I haven’t heard anything touristy about it – until I realized how wrong I was.
